A somewhat standard fantasy story is elevated with charismatic performances and passionate filmmaking -- the people making this cared about what they were doing, had a blast making it, and that sense of fun comes across on screen throughout its lengthy, though briskly paced 2-hour-and-15-minute runtime. I didn't know much about this movie going into it and have only seen bits from trailers that were shown on TV. To my surprise I was entertained and laughing the entire time. I never played DnD when I was younger, but I could see the imagination in the story to how a group of kids would plan their DnD quest! Even though I haven't played DnD I didn't feel lost or confused when they would talk about the world or lore, they make it very easy to follow. All the characters were over the top, exciting, and unique. Its fast paced filled with action, comedy, and drama. The CGI was amazing in most scenes, but some did feel a little uneasy to look at. The score was disappointing and forgettable, it should have been better for a movie of this scale and with a better score the overall rating and feel of this movie would improve. Overall this is a fun movie to watch with a group of friends or your family. It's an easy watch and I will definitely be watching it multiple times, as I enjoyed this movie a great deal. I hope they continue this franchise and keep the same humor and quirkiness.

I think this is Michelle Rodriguez's best work of her career. The plot is very simple but the adventures the characters go on were so enjoyable and the comedy is spot on. The film has excellent special effects and Lorne Balfe's score is also fabulous. I think this is the kind of quality that the recent MCU and the Fantastic Beasts movies need to have in order to get back on track; a film that is straightforward but fun, exciting, and emotional. I am very sad that this didn't do well at the box office because I really wanted to see more from this world and characters. Expand

Dungeons & Dragons was a very fun movie! There were some gimmicky lines and scenes you see coming from a mile away but that didn't really hinder my enjoyment of the film.

This movie is really funny and has some fun action scenes that were quite creative. The story was really fun and rewarding for fans of the D&D tabletop game and the subsequent video games. The movie felt like a campaign being played out; it was so cool. The story is consistent, logical, and very interesting. The world building was terrific and left me wanting to go back and play Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate. Most of the lines had me cracking up. They were so witty. The dramatic scenes I thought were a bit weak, but the comedy was gold. It’s like if you mixed Ant-Man with Snatch.

The main characters were really good and very well acted. Hugh Grant is hilarious in the movie. Had that Jeff Goldblum from Thor Ragnarök feel. Everyone feels fleshed out, multidimensional, and interesting. I enjoyed all the main characters and thought they complimented each other well and felt like they had leveled up quite a bit by the end. The teamwork aspect felt good; it had that Fast and the Furious vibe where they ain't just a team, their a family.

While not the best graphics in the world, they were above par. The blended use of CGI and practical effects was quite good. The makeup and costumes were really well done. The cinematography was really good as well. I enjoyed the camera angles and the music in the film was terrific! They had me singing along with the bard songs. Felt like I was listening to Toss a Coin to Your Witcher - they even have a Tame Impala song that had me thinking of Muse's Knights of Cydonia.

I really thought this movie was fantastic; it had it's faults like all films do, but I thought all the negatives were quite negligible. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of action comedies.

This film had it all: humour, wit, action, everything. As a guy who knows about DND through my sister and dad, it is exceptionally close to the source material. My recommendation? You should go check it out!

It doesn't aim to be Lord of the Rings so if you are looking for a fantasy epic look elsewhere. Acting is solid, story moves forward fast although it's a bit predictable. "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" isn't exactly a perfect dice roll, but laugh-out-loud comedy and elaborate D&D references will suffice for most viewers.

@teatom : You present something as a fact while it's you who does not understand humor. Edgin presents Jarnathan as his friend while pleading and desperately wants him to be present....but the quote "fly you big bird" makes very clear how the two are related and why Edgin desperately wanted him to be in the room. To me that was funny.
