You would be forgiven for questioning why a director of Raimi's caliber was required at all.

However, with the second half, Doctor Strange 2 remembers this is a Sam Raimi film, and the director is allowed to utilize his knack for weird, funny horror in ways that feel right at home for the director of Evil Dead. Still, even at its best, Doctor Strange 2 is a middling effort for Marvel -- coming no where near reaching the heights of Sam Raimi's terrific Spider-Man films.… Expand

Sure this movie has some shortcomings, such as the plot but you can't deny that the movie is very original and unique. Also, Olsen's performance is stunning as always.

I don't understand what's the point of doing **** you can't hire normal screenwriters, but you need to swell everything into a special. effects, and what to watch before them, it doesn’t matter, you need more action.

I liked the first Doctor Strange. This one was just so... meh. the overall theme of this is Doctor Strange in every other multiverse is a horrible person. So just about every one from different universes is trying to kill or stop DoctorI liked the first Doctor Strange. The movie opens up interesting with Shuma Gorath showing up unfortunately hes completely wasted and is killed so there goes a waste of a good villain right at the start. way to screw that up Disney. Than we have American Chaves the crappy hero no one likes and her comic sucks so bad no one buys it. I'll give the actress credit here she wasnt bad at least and they didn't make her a unsufferable douche like she is in her comics. Overall plot is trying to stop Wanda from getting Chaves because her power makes it so you can jump across multiverses... oh yeah and Wanda is now evil for some reason. Why you ask? hell if i know. apparently Disney in all of its stupidity made it so if you didnt watch the TV show (which i didnt) you will have no clue WTF is going on here. So if you didn't watch the Wanda show you are going to be as confuses as hell on why Wanda is now evil. Pretty much ruined the movie for me since im just scratching my head to why Wanda is all evil now and insanely over powered. This has to be the dumbest idea ever for a lead into a movie
I'm also scratching my head as to how i made it to the end of this turd.
MCU has taken a massive nose dive into the ground not to mention how many of these movies have we had already? 20?25?30?
im rapidly losing interest in this franchise like a lot of people are looking at how badly these movies are doing.
Pretty much right after end game they have completely screwed everything up.
Ire Disney will just run this into the ground and ruin it like they do everything else these days.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a movie that is very divided between likes and dislikes, and I also know that this movie is not very, very good. But I liked this work. For once I know Sam Raimie forced the film to do this under pressure from Marvel.
Considering that, I think I made the movie more attractive than I thought...
First of all, I liked the horror and gore that was not seen in Marvel.
The Illuminati massacre scene was shocking and very intense
There are also several scenes that feel like Evil Dead, which can be a good experience for fans.
It is a movie with many shortcomings, but it also has attractive advantages! I can't say that I have to go see it, but it's a movie that I can still try.… Expand

I really don't understand the criticism: this is one of the best cdm ever.
Were we expecting a lot of cameos? Were we disappointing with the villanous turn of Wanda? Who cares? It's a movie full of surprises, unexpected twists and violence.

Underwhelming because the focus of them movie is not doctor strange despite the movie being called that. The focus is on Wanda's arc which is the same arc she went through in WandaVision. The movie hints that maybe it was gonna be about questioning doctor strange's morals but it doesn't. The focus is always on whether wanda will realize the end does not justify the means and never explores the kind of man doctor strange is in any way.… Expand

It was ok...they didn't really get multiverse down right. Probably one of the mid tier phase 4 movies which isn't saying a lot. I will give this movie a 7.8 out of 10 because the first act felt really rushed and kinda written bad but during the middle and end it got a lot better. But also I could definitely tell that this film was definitely reshoot a lot. And i didn’t like that. I heard and watch that the writer kept changing the scenes and story plot during end of production or during the production. I really wish they kept the original doctor strange writers. And I actually want to see Scott Derrickson version because of his concert art it really show a full potential of Multiverse of Madness. And an actual horror film vibe. No offense to rami I am a huge fan of his Spider-Man film. But still the cgi was little bad especially the third eye.… Expand

I admit I was skeptical but I actually didn’t mind it after understanding its genre. The first mcu horror movie! The Illuminati wasn’t a surprise but how they killed them off by the hand of Wanda very quickly was. Some may not want kids to see this but it gave promise for the mcu future imo. 7/10… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I like that even after the trailers, you don’t really know what to expect. Or maybe I didn’t watch all the ones with the spoilers. Multiverse of Madness was a trippy ride that I wasn’t entirely prepared for.
The film is unlike anything from Marvel you seen before. It definitely isn’t Spider-Man: No Way Home but Doctor Strange.
Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness is more of a dark fantasy. Which Sam Raimi was perfect for. Not because he made Spider-Man movies but because he is an under-rated master of Horror.
He made Evil Dead movies and Drag Me to Hell. That is the Sam Raimi to expect when seeing this movie. Which is what helped make it such a different experience from Marvel.
Spoiler: My only problem is that Wanda wants her kids back with not one mention of Vision.… Expand

No tengo problemas con los personajes femininos, siempre aportan algo distinto desde la forma en como resuelven los problemas, que por sentido comun, no deberia ser igual a la de un hombre, o por lo menos no basarse en solo fuerza, pero estanNo tengo problemas con los personajes femininos, siempre aportan algo distinto desde la forma en como resuelven los problemas, que por sentido comun, no deberia ser igual a la de un hombre, o por lo menos no basarse en solo fuerza, pero estan dificil empatizar con esta pelicula, para empezar la motivacion de Wanda es una estupidez, que no tiene hijos y esta deseperada por tenerlos, no puede adoptar, no puede buscarse una pareja y tenerlos, estan imbec... esta premisa, va a matar una niña y destruir todo lo que se le cruze porque quiere tener un par de niños, es en serio... no entiendo porque las feministas no se enloquecen con esto deberian estar diciendo: claro como es mujer si unica prioridad es tener y cuidar niños, el patriarcado le lavo el cerebro...
Ahora America Chavez, su gran tragedia fue pasear con sus mamas y un dia se encontro una abeja y sus mamas se fueron, de verdad, es en serio?, es la historia mas estupi.. que he escuchado, no y continua, desde ese momento decidio buscarlas por el multiverso, sola sin compañia, una niña buscando dos señoras en el multiverso, es que la gente que escribe esto piensa que el universo en un barrio, una ciudad o una plaza, como mie.... una niña va a encontrar a alguien en un universo, asumiendo que solo pueda desplezarse en el rango planetario, en un solo pais, en una ciudad, es una estupide.... Il reste évidemment de beaux effets spéciaux et quelques moments d’action tout à fait spectaculaires… mais surtout l’étonnante prestation d’Elizabeth Olsen qui campe avec subtilité et justesse notre sorcière bien aimée… ou plutôt ce personnage -enfin- un minimum intéressant dans le multi-monde Marvel : la Sorcière Rouge !

Belle et convaincante, elle est incontestablement la bonne surprise de cette marvellerie ! laquelle reste aussi bête qu’elle peut l’être… car le scénar se perd vite dans les affres du nanar à côté de la plaque, avec en outre quelques préoccupations wokistes tout à fait… regrettables et détestables.

Mais que voulez-vous, c’est notre époque qui veut ça et notamment Disniais-woke, propriétaire des marvelleries en tous genres… et de la diversité afro-forcée et du putain de mariage pour toustes -!?!- (écriture woke inclusive incluse pour tous les trous de balle).… Expand

Before he was so cold blooded for order that said "I will not hesitate to get you and your kid killed if that is necessary to protect the time stone"...and now:

Wanda: "can I have that girl that you don't even know and can't even relate cause you don't have chidren so I can get the **** away from this universe and I won't be a mass murdering trouble?"

Strange: "ahah no"

Seems logic, ah yeah and there's even that scene of America and Strange like:

America: "I can't control my powers!"
Strange: "no you can"
America: "ah ok"
"proceed to beat Wanda that was invincible for the 99,9% of the movie.

Not perfect, but an entertaining movie. It feels like it was greatly reduced, especially at the beginning. But as soon as the horror movie starts, it becomes quite good. This is above the average MCU movie level.

Ну сам фильм в принципе ничего себе. Красивый...
Сюжет странноват. Завязка, ну ваще никакая. Ванду/Красную ведьму, вдруг обуревает материнский инстинкт и она находит среди миллиардов миров саму себя, только в роли матери двух детей. И теперь она готова уничтожить все миры и неисчислимое количество людских жизней, что бы вселиться в себя-мамашу и самой растить этих детей! Ну маразм. Кругом мужиков миллиарды, нарожай себе детей скока хош и выращивай из них кого хош. Тем более ты ж ведьма, хош мальчика, хош девочку. Но, как видно, это не наш выбор, мы к простейшему через тернии!
Ещё я так понимаю, мультивселенные крепко засели в творчестве Marvel, это уже второй фильм об этих самых мульти. Правда авторы как то не могут определиться с этими мирами. Про последнего паучка уже писал, а в этом фильме в одной вселенной взяли и смешали все комиксы. Как попали Люди Х, Фантастическая четвёрка и Мстители в (даже не знаю как сказать) одно повествование? Ведь никогда, ни в одном фильме не говорилось о совместном сосуществовании этих героев. Выглядит странно и глупо.
Конечно фильм пронизан "прогрессивными" ценностями. Тут и однополая семейка Америки Чавез, а бывшая невеста Стренджа выходит замуж..... ну конечно за чернокожего. Капитан "америка" превратился в Капитана "британию" только женщину, а капитан Марвел...о нет не в яйценосца, она конечно осталась женщиной только, барабанная дробь!, стала негритянкой! При этом как то потеряла в силе. Если в Мстителях даже Танос для неё был, так слабачком не достойным внимания, то сейчас одна из мстительниц, Вдова, раскатала её в лепешку одной рукой. Чо же тогда с Таносом так не вышло?
Ну и неполная семья Ванды из параллельного мира в довесок. Всё это вообще можно, честно говоря, вырезать и на фильм это ни как не повлияет. Как будто сняли всё это непотребство отдельно, а потом натыкали в разные части фильма. Чтоб было. Пошлятина!
Но если забить на весь этот маразм, то фильм смотрится бодрячком. Очень понравилась актриса играющая Америку. Вообще актёры, главные актёры, отыгрывают на отлично.
Если кому понравился первый фильм, советую и этот. В противном случае вы ничего не потеряете.… Expand

It's a pretty good if straight forward film along the lines of a Terminator. An unstoppable Big Bad is coming for the heroes and it's all they can do to stay away from it. I would have given it an 8 if the movie had kept that intensity and edge instead of wimping out towards the end.

At this point I think I watch Marvel movies just to see how bad the writing can get. Turns out: quite a lot. This Dr. Strange movie doesn't hit the fine spots that the first one did. We got a handful of variants and a couple cameos of character we mostly don't care about or may never see again. The trailer ruined the best cameo.
I like how Strange's relationship with Christine was handled and wrapped up.
I liked the villain and her motives, even if a little over the top at points.
That big cameo fight was the best part of the movie.
Overall, a ok movie that could have been so much more.… Expand

It's been said numerous times - MCU productions have fallen flat since Endgame, and this entry is no exception. While I can't speak for the casual moviegoer / "normie" audience member, I can speak for film lovers when I say to Disney and every other movie studio out there, What we (the audience) want is very simple: 1) Focus on writing a quality story, 2) Adapt said story into an engaging cinematic experience. That's it. That's all we want. As a bonus, you can add 3) Respect the source material / characters, but ultimately, if you focus on writing a brilliant script then adapting that to a solid cinematic work, your film will be successful. You Hollywood folks seem to love to check boxes. Maybe return to checking the above boxes as your priority and reduce any agenda or lecturing to the subtext, or better yet, leave it out completely. Returning to form by going back to embracing this approach is guaranteed to fill seats. Just look at Top Gun: Maverick, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and others that have put story and cinematography first. Take notes and straighten your priorities, guys. Or die a slow death as you slip into obscurity with your remaining tiny audience of ~1,500 Twitter extremist idealogues that you seem intent on catering to at any cost.… Expand

The nonsensical story was a huge disservice to the already established and loved characters - especially Wanda. The whole idea of the movie was to use the villainous backstory of Scarlet Witch from some of the comics, but what they absolutely ignored was the backstory of the MCU Wanda. Her whole character ark seemed to lead to a motivational story for people who lost loved ones that "you can get over this" - but this one movie destroyed any chance of that happening. The moral now is "you can't get passed this. Just go crazy - maybe kill a couple of people while you're at it". Marvel movies are not psychological dramas - I get that. But these movies are watched my millions of people and such an abhorrent conclusion to Wanda's psychological problems is simply irresponsible and dumb.

Then the whole Illuminati plot was just painfully expositional - there was no point to it at all - just to show Fantastic 4 Krasinski and Xavier and then kill them immediately for the shock factor of it.

Even the CGI at times was cringy (that very fake third eye for example).

All in all a really crappy movie - one of the MCUs worst (not THE worst movie, but if assessing ONLY the story - then it's the worst story in MCU).… Expand

The reveal that Wanda was the villian in the plot was lackluster and confusing since I didn’t watch WandaVision on Disney+ and her motivations made no sense. She wanted to be with her imaginary children that existed in a different universe?? Not to mention the amount of inconsistencies of character’s actions; very disappointed but not surprised since Marvel is declining when it comes to quality nowadays… Expand

This is a Scarlett Witch movie not a Dr Strange movie. As a stand alone movie its okay. As a so called Dr. Strange movie it really makes other characters more important to the point its not a Dr. Strange movie.
