I knew how Deadpool was in the comics and I expected to see that reflected on screen. While the plot is standard for any movie, the character makes up for everything that this movie might be lacking. It has the trademark Deadpool humour all over it and the 4th wall breaking I was expecting from that character. The inclusion of the x-men was a nice touch, while there weren't that many of them in the movie, it was a nice addition because Deadpool is part of that universe. Ryan Reynolds plays the character to perfection and I expect him to return in a sequel. Expand

I can honestly say that I will be seeing this film multiple times in the theater, as it's that darn entertaining. You can tell this was a passion project for all involved as it exudes so much heart that the film industry should be taking notes on how to do a proper comicbook type movie. Deadpool starts with what could quite possibly be the best opening credit sequence ever in cinema and the action sequences are a thing of beauty! I honesty sat in complete amazement at some of the things they were able to pull off with such a small budget. Now I'm not a huge comedy fan, but I have to admit that when I left the theater, my stomach actually hurt from laughing so hard. Some of the dialogue is just pure brilliance and Ryan Reynolds has truly found a character he was born to play. I hope Deadpool gets many more sequels as it deserves to keep going. I had some initial concerns about a completely CGI character in Colossus (The Force Awakens let me down in that sense), but he is by far the best use of a CGI character that I've ever seen and made me happy to see him represented the way he is in the comics and not how the X-Men movies portrayed him. And as for Negatonic Teenage Warhead...just superb! Go see Deadpool and you will be watching the most entertaining film in a very VERY long time. Trust me! Expand

Deadpool is like a superhero movie should be: R rated, action packed and without sissy childish hero saves everybody drama. Since I was getting sick of Disney childish approach, specially after they made Star Wars for 8 year old kids and mentally challenged, this alongside Jessica Jones and Daredevil, is proof that superhero movies can be good movies. Now let's break it down:
~~ Plot : Since it's a deadpool movie, I never expected nor wanted a philosophical story. The plot line is mediocre, but without being filled with deus ex machina as SW7 is. Which makes it enjoyable. Also the story telling technique used is great, managing too keep the pace between slower story scenes and action/funny scenes. But where the movie really shines is where it should: it has funny jokes and greatly paced action scenes.

~~ Image: GCI is what you would expected for 2016 movie. Also the direction and use of still frames and lighting is great. Not Revenant "level", if you would wanna compare with a recent movie, but above any other MCU movie.

~~ Sound: Great soundtrack and sound mixing. Not Guardians of the Galaxy "level", but still, great.

~~ Acting: All actors do a great job and you never feel bothered by awkward acting even from the extras, like in Captain America or Green Lantern. Also you can see it's a passion project for Ryan Reynolds, because he is as good as Deadpool, as Jackman is Wolverine.

----
Bottom line: If you're a fan of deadpool or like marvel comics in general, this move is for you. If you're looking for a comedy, this movie is for you. If you're looking for a mature superhero movie, this movie is for you.
If you're looking for anything more than action+comedy then this movie isn't for you. If you're looking for a romantic stereotypical hero movie this movie is not for you. If you like children movies with 8 year old plotline like SW7, this movie is not for you.

Those moments truly drag on and get boring. Which is why I feel the future of comic book stories lies on Netflix, where you can do long-form stories that don't need to be punctuated by endless fight sequences. I enjoyed the snark of both Deadpool and Jessica Jones MUCH more than I did Deadpool. If you really want a biting Ryan Reynolds, go back and check out his vastly superior "Waiting". Hilarious. Expand

Luckily they learned there lesson and have made up for there mistakes. The movie has all the elements that a Deadpool movie needs: Great Humor,Gorey Action and that little pinch of Boobs. Action scenes come together in a perfectly orchestrated bloody slaughter, No other way to really put it. Things will happen that leave you speechless. The humor is also so perfect they know what was done wrong in the past and they fixed there wrong, Poking fun at things like a CGI suit, Sewing his mouth shut and a few others. It's also nice to see Marvel let them go with a R rating. It's pretty much everything you expected from a deadpool movie and much more, 10/10!

Its raunchy, its wild and its ridiculously funny the whole way through. It still does not beat X-Men Days of Future Past but the film is at least in my top 3 Fox Marvel films so far. Its so self aware. No one is safe from the jokes even Ryan Reynolds himself. Ryan Reynold's has worked so hard to get a screen version of the true Deadpool character and all his hard work truely paid off. Reynolds is Deadpool now. There is no doubting, it's just like Hugh Jackman for Wolverine. This movie has romance that suits Deadpool and is really believable. The side characters are great although I did wish I would've saw more of TJ Miller. I thought he was starting to get so funny in one scene towards the end and then you don't see him again in the film. I hate to say it but there is really nothing out there like this. Remember when you go to see this film that it only took 50 million dollars to make. THATS OUTSTANDING. The action is so well filmed and although it is over the top its not really to the point where it becomes cheesy. Who knows how many knockoffs we'll be getting now but now is a good time to be a Deadpool fan. Expand

Ryan Reynolds is perfectly cast as Deadpool, and his dedication to getting the character right forms a true portrayal of a character that is very hard to get right, as we learned 7 years ago. Deadpool is hilarious, bitingly smart, and paced like the foul mouthed energizer bunny from hell. In an interview Reynolds said this film has been in production for 11 years, it would seem that the long wait helped the film, because by the time they finally made it, everybody involved wanted to get it right.

Deadpool is genuinely hilarious film, by that I mean there are multiple times where everybody in the theater laugh hysterically. The film is even funnier for those that love, and know all about comic book films, because it makes snide comments about the studio and the genre all throughout. Fans of the character will appreciate the fact that Deadpool doesn’t pull any punches, it’s hilarious from the opening credits to the post credits scene. On top of that Reynolds comedic chops are perfectly complemented by the foul mouthed anti-hero.

It shouldn’t come as any kind of a surprise that Deadpool is a metafilm, as the character’s trademarks are breaking the fourth wall, and poking fun at other comic book characters. The film manages to avoid being cliched, because of it’s metafilm approach and while not dodging all cliches it winks when it uses one. For those that have seen or genuinely obsess over comic book films, the film is littered with snide pokes at the genre, and a warning for those interested these pokes come early and often. The film is witty to a fault, and honors the character perfectly.

From the hilarious opening of the film to the post credits scene the pacing of the film is frenetic. The film begins with a bang, and brilliantly tells it’s story in a non-linear format that keeps the film from ever feeling slow. It would have been nice if the low budget hadn’t been so noticeable, despite the fact that it gives Deadpool plenty of fodder. One thing that seemed poorly done was the Colossus character, because he’s featured in the other X-Men films as a completely different character in look and personality.
In the end lovers of the deadpool character will love the film, because it’s faithful to everything the character embodies. The film is smart, funny, well-paced, and builds off Reynolds performance to make a genuinely entertaining film. The film has a few small flaws that are few and far between, but overall succeeds in respectfully bringing “The Merc with a Mouth” to the big screen. Note that this film is very mature, but when looking for a great film for an adult’s night out this film is perfect.

Its main flaw is the story which, when you strip back all the 'meta' bells and whistles , is EXTREMELY basic - hero gets hurt by baddie, hero seeks revenge on baddie, baddie kidnaps hero's girlfriend, hero kills baddie. That just won't cut it anymore. There was so much opportunity to do something more interesting and they blew it. The story should always come first. As it is, we get a bog standard superhero movie with cussing and gore. Deadpool is undeniably a good character, and would work brilliantlly as supporting character in an X-Men movie, but the supporting characters in this are either really annoying (Weasel) or non-entities (everybody else). The superhero movie boom has gone on long enough that it's time for something like this: a self-aware quasi-parody. The genre needs to make fun of itself a bit. It's a little dirty, plenty violent, and a lot of fun.

Ryan Reynolds nails the title part, though the supporting cast has some head-scratchers, from Ed Skrein's one-note overconfident charisma to Gina Carrano's can't act-ness. And while Morena Baccarin made plenty of an impression as a zen master prostitute on Firefly or as the frigid alien queen on V, it's subsequently hard to buy her in this role which requires a little more zest. Nonetheless, the movie works well enough.

There is an end credits scene, a Stan Lee cameo, and everything else you'd expect from a comic book movie.

+ creative ways of killing people

- way too many bad jokes
- below average acting and CGI
- too short
- can't be a standalone movie since almost nothing happened (half of the movie was about Wade before he became Deadpool)

Conclusion: Deadpool is an acceptable comedy movie thanks to either the good jokes and the self irony. It's pretty obvious that Marvel primarily focused upon that. They actually surprised me. Marvel movies tend to be very bad yet over hyped, but this one was pretty cool. Good movie for watching with a few friends, but I would recommend you to wait until it's released on DVD/Blu-Ray. At a few jokes, you won't be hearing anything but laughter in the cinema.

The good news is; the 'Deadpool' movie does live up to the hype that the viral marketing campaign promised. The only bad news is; a lot of the jokes that were seen in the trailers are used in the movie, and they were expected.

But other than that, this movie is fun, almost 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' (2015) fun. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson aka "The Merc with a Mouth", aka "Deadpool" who is seeking revenge on a scientist named Ajax (Ed Skrein) who experimented on Wilson and deformed his appearance.

The movie is mainly structured in non-linear narrative where at the beginning, Wade is already Deadpool, and he tells us the story (yes, he breaks the fourth wall), about how he got to where he is now. The story mainly revolves around Wade and his relationship with a girl named Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), he then finds out that he has cancer, and a recruiter (Jed Rees) entices Wade as he promises to cure his cancer, while also giving him superhero-like abilities.

The experiment proves to be excruciating, but Wade makes it out alive, disfigured and angry, he is out on a revenge plan to kill the people who did this to him.

The movie delivers its promise to be crude, vulgar, bloody...and everything that an R-Rated superhero film should be. It also delivers on its comedy, Reynolds is surprisingly charming and charismatic in the title role.

One thing you should know about this movie is that it isn't a summer popcorn blockbuster flick like 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' (2015), it is a movie that is filled with superbly choreographed fight scenes, the best one involving Wade and Ajax fighting in a burning building.

The romance in this movie is well done, and shows us the more human side of Deadpool, but I do feel as if it boggs the movie down sometimes, but never fails to be entertaining.

One thing you will expect is that this movie is cocky, arrogant and full of itself...but that's what fans of the Merc comics character will be expecting and wanting, whether or not this movie brings you everything you desire will depend on how big your expectations are.

NOTE: >Stay< for the post-credits scene, do not get up and walk out while the credits are rolling, this may not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but this post-credits scene is worth the wait considering what was seen throughout the entire movie.

Good, fun escapism movie...8/10...delivers on its promise, but not outstanding...

Had the theater laughing every 2min or more frequent - the jokes come fast and land 75% of the time.
Little nuances and cameos here and there, but the content and quick banter make this movie enjoyable, plus a little 4th wall breaking.
One thing to improve - focus on the main character...what really did the other "X-men" do? Not much, other than be a sounding board and joke fodder for our rebel.
Definitely worth a theater visit, much better than the "doom and gloom" of the other Marvel/DC offerings.

So glory be then for a film full of wit and invention that is not a slave to its visual effects. As the masked superhero Ryan Reynolds impudent charm and intuitive delivery of the sharp and, at times, salty dialogue is spot on. Likewise, his asides direct to camera are delightfully amusing, as are the copious character and movie references. In fact the quips come at such a whip cracking pace that on occasion one’s brain can’t keep up resulting in a gag here and there being missed. Some of the dialogue aims for low brow audience appeal, but even here Reynolds manages to save the day with his astute delivery and innate understanding of how to play to the camera. The adult certificate seems to have freed the film from the usual trite situations and juvenile humour that often derails the PG friendly movies, whilst also allowing the film makers not to stint on the sex and gore. Predictable situations are played out unpredictably and it’s fair to say that what we have here turns the super hero movie on its head even if it does seem a little too pleased with itself on occasion. Technically the film delivers the package expected. The editing is fast and furious and the sound blasts you full throttle with every explosion or gunshot unleashed. Music fits nicely into proceedings and there is also some well-chosen pop on the soundtrack. All in all it adds up to an enjoyably slick experience complete with a manageable running time. Let’s just hope that whoever get their hands on the sequel don’t ruin a potentially fresh franchise by dumbing down what we have here. Expand

I always knew Ryan Reynolds would make a perfect deadpool, even after the unfortunate x-men origins wolverine version of deadpool, but I was impressed at how identical he represented the character. Deadpool brought a lot of gruesome and awesome action, hilarious humor for everyone from comic experts to those who have never picked up a comic, and plenty of 4th wall breaks and self-aware pop culture references. Everyone does there best in there roles and the plot is consistent and never gets dull as it bounces between the crazy deadpool and his origin story without spending too much time on each. My only flaw is that it could have used a little longer of a run time for a little more character building on the villains as well as maybe adding a few jokes that didn't make it past the trailers. But even then, it didn't feel that short on it's own with plenty to keep me entertained. This is the deadpool movie I've been waiting for and it's definitely what Fox needed after last years Fantastic 4. Expand

But I was wrong.
The feel and direction of this film is great, more violent, more consistently funny so it can actually be labelled a comedy and the most comic like adaption of what you’d expect a comic book to look like on screen I’ve seen. From the opening intro scene of what almost feels like a camera zooming round a 3D comic strip to the over the top violence and fight sequences this film has it all.
The 4th wall breaks really do help the film as it is a hilarious addition to the film and something else which makes it stand out from the other Marvel monotony. The humour in the film is a real good mix of crude, offensive, meta and visual that blend in a tasty concoction.
Ryan Reynolds also extremely surprised me with how well he played the character Deadpool as in the trailers I felt a bit ambivalent towards him, but this film really shows his comedic timing and line delivery for comedies. His character origins were also dealt with in a more interesting way due to the film not being shot in chronological order. The film flies back and forth between Wade Wilson and Deadpool so that it keeps your attention up.
All supporting cast are good in their roles but none really stand out against Reynolds. They’re all enjoyable to watch and they do get across the point of who your meant to like and who your meant hate and I suppose that is what they’re there for. The only thing I can say negatively against it was Ed Skrein’s character Francis (or Ajax) who is just a plain bad guy. He is a **** in the film which is what he should be like but there is no layers nor small intricacies to his character that make him a memorable bad guy; he more just comes to be a bad guy Deadpool fights.
Overall Deadpool surprised me very much and has made me eager to see a sequel, with its gore and offensive humour it really does stand out. I think everyone should go see this film so we can see more 15 (and hopefully 18) rated films. That’s an R in the U.S. I’m pretty sure.
7.5/10
P.S. Stay until the end, and enjoy the reference 

Deadpool's back in an all new movie that brings back the Deadpool we all wanted since draining him in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and make him look like that he's not even him in the first place. A better 20th Century Fox and Marvel movie than 2015's Fantastic Four which is actually named the Poor Four. Fans will love this fourth-wall breaking comedian and their wish for a better Deadpool just got granted. Expand
