There isn't much of a plot, but we don't really need one - just enough of a setting for the jokes, stylish action scenes, and to tell us why Deadpool is who he is, and why he's awesome. The addition of the two X-men characters was a great way to show off his unique character, and also tie in with the overall X-men franchise.

Although admittedly not the most intelligent of films, the action is well directed, the script is hilarious, the story works well for the style of film and doesn't rely on over-exposition to move the plot forward.

A movie that never holds back. Truthful to the source material and fun from the first to the last minute. Ryan Reynolds delivers what might be the best live action adaptation of a comic book superhero. Best movie based on a Marvel property. Ever.

Deadpool is wildly entertaining and hillarious and is the perfect role for Ryan Reynolds. The subtle references to past Marvel films and characters draw Deadpool into the Marvel cinematic universe, but at the same time creates an intrigueing uniqueness to his character. My only criticism is that I would have preferred a more worthy opponent for 'Pool. That being said, this origin story is one that will help the nightmares of Deadpool's use in X-Men Origins: Wolverine dissipate. Expand

Still it's remarkably easy to screw up this genre and the character of Deadpool is one few people understand. Thankfully this is the one time they got him perfect, the humour was on point, the action needlessly gruesome just for the hell of it, and the tone immature in all the right ways.

While the storyline is nothing special, it's consistent and a good adaptation of the source material which is all you can really ask for. The action was clearly limited due to budget restraints meaning the film had to maintain a small scope and really only manages two action set-pieces throughout the whole film. This could have been detrimental pacing wise but they make it work, even if the film does drag slightly in the middle. Really whether you enjoy this film will come down to whether you find the character of Deadpool funny or not. Honestly, I'm not normally one for low brow comedy and often find it insulting to my intelligence; but occasionally there's a method of delivery which works perfectly. TV shows like 'Bottom' are a good example. Deadpool works. Almost every joke from the crude to the absurd was timed perfectly and the juxtaposition between it and the action made for a thoroughly enjoyable films and one of the best films of the year so far... it's early days yet, but I expect this to still make peoples "Top 10 films of 2016" lists. Highly recommended.

Just from the trailers, you can tell that this movie is not for everyone, and definitely not for kids, despite the fact that parents were bringing their kids in to see it during my showing of it.

Starting from the moment that the opening credits begin, I could tell that this was the Deadpool movie that I have been waiting to see for years. Ryan Reynolds has completely redeemed how the character was completely mishandled in the Wolverine movie. This movie earned his hard R, with over-the-top violence, sex, nudity, swearing all over the place, and a complete shattering of the fourth wall. The humor may be a bit sophomoric at times and some of the younger audience might not get all the pop culture references, but that's Deadpool for ya. And I loved every moment of it.

Not only is Deapool a wonderfully acted superhero movie with a demented heart but also a sort of game changer that this genre needed for quite a while. With its extremely simple story, Deadpool is what most superhero movies should strive for. Instead of slapping us with end-of-the-world events, these movies need to focus on presenting us with a cohesive story that can work well on its own.

And yes, Ryan Reynolds kills it.

This movie is basically 1.5 hours of toilet humor quality banter. If you are into that, great, you will love this movie. I am not. Why, you might ask? Because i am no longer in middle school and even back then, I wasn't really into the fart jokes or crude humor. Thus for me, this movie was boring as hell.

The movie spends most of its time in character development and this is one of few movies where I really wanted it to stop and just become a mindless action flick. It was tedious watching the story development because we already got the point in the 1st 15 minutes of the movie. But they kept hammering the characters in with more toilet banter scenes that did not add anything to movie or the characters. You dont feel any different about Deadpool or his girlfriend 1 hour in vs 10 minutes in because the development is repetitive.

Anyway, Deadpool does his thing by breaking the 3rd wall and making jokes through fights would be fun if the humor were a little smarter rather than from the mind of a 12 year old looking for the approval of his peers. The actions, when it did happen, was ok but again nothing new. Lots of slow motion clips and CGI but it looked good. Colossus looked a bit too clay like for me but it was acceptable.

The problem is the story, and characters were simply not interesting. The bad guys were also equally lame and the film is riddled with plot holes albeit its a comedy (I think)... Not my kind of film. I would have enjoyed it more if I were 12 or 13.

What happens if you spend 90% of your budget on PR and 10% on the actual movie?

Claming to be an "adult movie", 'Deadpool' is just a weak ragbag of jokes the writers probably found written on the walls of various middle school toilets.

For starters - You can follow The Movie Spot on Twitter (@themoviespot_) and Facebook!

2016 has its first blockbuster, although that isn’t saying much, as January is usually the oasis month of the film year. But more than a blockbuster, the start of something revolutionary has begun with Deadpool. The amount of superhero movies coming out over the next 5 years, with a whopping 24 comic films hitting the big screen. And that’s not counting all of the Marvel Netflix shows and all of the TV shows that DC continues to churn out.

Deadpool may be the best comic to film adaptation done by either Marvel or DC, staying true and capturing the true nature that all hardcore comic book lovers will thoroughly enjoy. And although the casual fans may not know the story or care for the origins, they can still enjoy the brutality and uncensored mercenary that is Wade Wilson. And trust me, if there is one thing done right in this film, it is everything about the main character. The detailed backstory, endless banter that leaves you howling with laughter, continuously breaking the 4th wall that borderlines on played out, but still works every now and then. Ryan Reynolds knocks it out of the park, as many had predicted many years before the film ever went into production. It’s his role, and should be his for a long time, akin to fellow 20th Century Fox colleague and staple, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

There’s not much that Deadpool does wrong, as it spends most of the time building around the title character, for better or worse. For all of the screen time given to Reynolds, it doesn’t leave much for developing other characters or developing other parts of the story beyond the main backstory and all of its inbetweens. And for all of the characters we were introduced to, including the villains, if you had to answer the “Five W’s”, it would be difficult to answer all of them. I have a pet peeve when it comes to any comic book film, and that is a weak villain. Our villain here being Ajax, played by Ed Skrein, the enhanced superhuman who can feel no pain. I can gladly say that I didn’t find Ajax to be weak, as creating Deadpool ranks high enough for me but playing back into lack of backstory hurts why I should care. In theory, and as spoiler free as I can get, curing the terminally ill to turn them into “superslaves” for an end goal never truly stated doesn’t sell me.

My only other gripe was the sometimes unrelenting breaking of the 4th wall done by Deadpool. It’s an expected thing, and was happy when it showed up the first couple of times. As the movie progresses, it seems to happen like clockwork, and at times where I could have done without. There’s a clear reason for the wit of the character, and to tone down Deadpool, even just a little, feels wrong. But, too much of a good thing can ruin said good thing.

All in all, Deadpool is exactly what every fan envisioned it would be when first announced. A heavy action/comedy that wows you its absurd amount of violence as much as it does the brilliant one-liners. Don’t bring the kids, this is not a drill, not a joke. Your kids could be scarred by what is shown and said, but hey, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Ryan Reynolds steals the show and creates a compelling character. With well-timed jokes (of the witty and rude varieties) and classy characterisation, he takes a character from stencil to screen with surprising accuracy and wit. Props to the writers too, who, as the opening credits scene self-referentially tells us, are the 'true heroes' of Deadpool.

With enough fourth-wall breaks to have to build a new house, and humour which, while some may find it immature and childish, keeps the true intent of Deadpool pure as the man in red spandex can be. That is, irreverent and profane, but you get what I'm saying. You will never see a baby's hand or a unicorn in the same light again.

The score contains a mix of classy contemporary pieces with a decent, but not outstanding, original score, artfully devised by the fiendish plotting of Tom Holkenborg, perhaps better known as Junkie XL, with scores to Mad Max: Fury Road and Spider-Man 2 under his belt.

All-in-all, it is a film with clever wit and made with decent filmmaking prowess which can be mixed into a glass, given to a hunk and start a bar-fight. A must-see before it leaves cinemas.

The world is bored of superheroes. The world is bored of anything that is 'good'.

Movies are reflection of society and society also gets feedback from a movie. No matter how 'funny' it seems to some of those post-puberty-adolescent audience, this kind of fun will haunt you down in one or the other menifestation of real problems. Fairytales and comedy are the prime source of molding young minds. Average audience associate them with the main character in a movie, and what are they associating in this movie? Shallow, disgusting, perverted joker? What he does in the form of fun is several degrees of crime in real life. Now, one can argue, that is true for many movies of many other genre. But when I see young people comiting crime by saying 'maximum effort' , what does it suggest? It is real easy to be a character like him. No hard work necessery. That is the key point here. People like to gain everything by doing nothing. The fact that this kind of movie is so popular will have direct consequences specially in society and politics. Hope for the best.

This is a must see. If ever there was a superhero film so suited for the adults who are yet to reach out to the new line of superhero universes, this would be it.

For the first time, I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised by a Ryan Reynolds acting performance having watched him appear in so many naf comedies and what not. The campaign leading up to this film, the performances in the film, the jokes just pointing the finger at Marvel and all the R-rated goodness make it a film to behold. From minute 1 to whatever the last minute is it just enthrals you with the funny pokes at Marvel and Reynold's in real life, the gripping love story between him and Morena Baccarin and of course the incorporation of the X-Men universe to add to all its glory.

All I can say is, I cannot wait for no.2 with Cable, who I am yet to be introduced to in any form and that if you don't watch this, especially if you're genuinely a self-proclaimed superhero fan, you'll be missing out massively. It's such a fun watch and one that will peak your interest even more in the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse movie.

Firstly,
Deadpool is absolutely everything anyone could ever want from a Deadpool movie. Brash, fast, not family-friendly, hilarious and bloody, with some excellent fourth-wall breaks, Deadpool is an absolute blast from start to finish.

Firstly, Ryan Reyonlds has found his perfect role. Though I, for one, was calling for him to play The Flash in the DC Universe, he was entrusted with launching a new DC universe as the Green Lantern, in a horrific and utterly disastrous adaptation of the Justice League hero. Here though, Reyonlds shines as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, and even pokes fun at his previous superhero endeavour in the process. Being much more involved in the production of the movie, having been campaigning for a Deadpool movie for years, Reyonlds has often fallen just short of real stardom in Hollywood, and this role can hopefully relaunch him after previous failures. An origin story fairly true to the comics provides a good storyline that fans of Deadpool or just normal movie-goers will be able to invest in, as it is not complicated or a drag in any way. The music used in this movie, is absolutely outstanding. Keeping up the tone of utter silliness, particular songs or scores used in particular spots in the film just reminds the audience that no-one should take this film seriously, as not even Deadpool himself is taking this film seriously. The dialogue and jokes throughout the movie, including all of the fourth-wall breaks, are completely true to Deadpool and most are hilariously written. Though, sometimes, the jokes do get a little cringe-worthy occasionally, but only occasionally. The little quips and remarks during fights that Deadpool makes however are often brilliant, and one fight in particular had myself and the audience that I watched the movie with in absolute stitches.

Unless you are easily offended or seriously against anything Marvel, there is no doubt that you will love this movie. Deadpool introduces itself to the X-Men universe and, in a way, reshapes it.

The bar was definitely set fairly high and, while not a full-on Deadpool comics fan, I am fond of superhero comics and Marvel comics in particular so it was fantastic to see a spot-on Deadpool performance from Ryan Reynolds. I think he actually was born to play this role. It was also very refreshing and fun to see the full potential of a superhero movie with an R-rating.

Nevertheless, it is not a very entertaining or enjoyable comic book. Ryan Reynolds plays Wade Wilson, an ex-military sniper who enjoyed shooting down the enemy and brags about his score card. In civilian life, he is a bit of a dud, until he finds his true love, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), in a bar populated by gun-toting lowlifes. Vanessa is a former prostitute, and like Wade, she had a traumatic childhood. True love for these two means living in a dark apartment in a dark universe, where romance is focused on insatiable sexual needs—the only genuinely romantic part is that they are actually faithful to each other.

The movie had potential to create an artistic universe where good is in its eternal struggle with evil, where the villains are a monstrous threat to humanity, and where the heroes are both strong and vulnerable, vicious and tender-hearted at the same time—such is the stuff that action-hero comic books are made of. All of these elements are present; yet, Deadpool is a bit of a cesspool—the script is a running monologue of relentless banter for Reynolds’ character, and only occasionally are the jokes humorous enough to make you smile. Profane language is persistent, and vulgarity is proudly displayed like a fashion statement. The violence is the main feature of the film, and the violence is of a somewhat perverse quality that drowns out the attempt at humor. Nobody laughs at this movie.

There is presently a cultural phenomenon known as the “hipster,” which seems to be invading Hollywood films. Hipsters are an under-40 crowd of petty intellectuals, who are crassly superficial, wildly materialistic, and surprisingly hostile. Their motor-mouth banter is the branding of their style, and Hollywood scripts are starting to reflect this vapid culture. Deadpool wearies the viewer with its verbal tedium, in spite of the fact that Reynolds’ performance is a tour de force, Baccarin is in fine form, and the two characters who are vintage Marvel heroes, Stefan Kapicic and Brianna Hildebrand, do a great job. Unfortunately, Marvel Comics never intended for superheroes to act like hipsters. But there’s hope for the future—the hipsters are approaching their 40’s, and by strict definition, they will be too old to keep witlessly joking their way through life.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ajax was my one real disappointment in the film. He was such a weak villain and, that could have been an opportunity to satirize and comment on bad Marvel villains and they didn't really do that. I wanted there to be a moment where Deadpool called him out asking, "What the **** was your plan, Francis? What was the endgame for all this?" Because Ajax clearly had no purpose in the film except to be the bad guy. Unlike other characters, he seemed to have no life outside of the immediate story.

What the **** was his plan? It made no sense at all. A villain does not work if he isn't doing the right thing in his own mind. He was making cancer patients into mutant supers. Okay, fine. Good starting point. He himself had been through the process which removed his ability to feel pain and emotions. Could been explored better but okay so far. (stolen from Darkman which explored it better but it's a good starting point) He makes supers to sell, wait, record-scratch, WHAT!?

Okay, he has these shock collar things that make supers into slaves--Somehow? It's never shown. Gina Carano is not wearing any collar. If he had the ability to turn supers into slaves, that is a WAY better tech than his expensive, failure-prone back-alley weapon X program.

Seriously, you have the ability to enslave powerful mutants!?! And that's NOT your main business? Why isn't Magneto looking to destroy this guy? Why isn't he selling these collars to the Government. Surely must be cheaper than Sentinels. I mean, if the collar thing works, he would have basically SOLVED the mutant problem for a lot of people.

(ALSO Sub-note: why not put the collars on people while they go through the process? I mean, if you are making super-humans, WHOM YOU'VE TOLD YOU ARE GOING TO ENSLAVE, seems like you'd want to control them the moment you woke up their powers.)

But, no. He has only one super in his employ, played by Gina Carano. She's not wearing a collar so she's doing it for the Lulz. What's her story? Gotta be more interesting than Ajax's!

He goes up against a guy, whom he KNOWS can survive being burned to a cinder, with regular merc goons. (Who magically didn't come from the Home for Wayward Girls merc Bar run by TJ Miller--did he import them from China?) Ajax already KNOWS that Deadpool goes through these mercs like hot chitlins through margarine but, for the Heli-carrier fight he does it again!

Seriously, he has access to slave collars and an unlimited supply of super-mutated soldiers and he's got an unkillable badass on his tail. "Let's hire run of the mill, mercs again. Don't waste the merchandise on protecting my investment. Oh, whoops, they're all dead in seconds."

Deadpool should have at least commented on how incompetent Francis's plan was. Our fourth-wall-breaking mouthy-merc, who is always saying just what the audience is thinking, failed to mention that Ajax is a dumbass and everyone associated with Back-Alley weapon X is thinking too small.

(ALSO Second side-note: Morena Baccarin shoulda been paste falling off that heli-carrier, head-first, in a steel and glass tube. It was Indy-in-a-Fridge all over again)

So, yeah. Ajax had no plan and did nothing but be the punching bag for Deadpool. He was there to be the bad guy and had no life off screen. bad villain.

Outside of my critiques of the villain, the movie is fine. It's funny (though the shotgun approach to comedy means that not all of the jokes will land) The relationships are interesting. Baccarin and Reynolds are great together (though it's hard to believe the conceit that he might be afraid of her opinion of his looks) It feels like a movie that gives just exactly what the fans wanted but does nothing to exceed expectations. It's plenty entertaining but won't blow anyone's mind.

You would have to have a vast knowledge of pop culture to get all the jokes. Still, many lines were funny. The film has a justified "R" rating, for both language and violence. Ryan Reynolds was terrific in the film and was definitely the right actor for the job. The action sequences, like so many today, are so overly edited that you can't always tell what is going on. It takes a little while to get in gear — or perhaps just to adjust to what's going on here — but once it does, Deadpool drops trou to reveal itself as a really raunchy, very dirty and pretty funny goof on the entire superhero ethos, as well as the first Marvel film to irreverently trash the brand. Just what anyone suffering from genre burnout might appreciate at this point, as well as a big in-joke treat for all but the most reverent fanboys, this film looks to be hitting the market at just the right time — with Christmas releases now in the rearview mirror — to rake in some sweet returns.

Given the surprising amount of nudity, raw sex jokes and nonstop underlined and bold-faced, racy dialogue, it's amusing to picture the countless pubescent boys who will be plotting a way to get into this extremely R-rated romp. Not only does Ryan Reynolds give it his all, shall we say, but the conversations here mostly resemble the sort of thing you'd expect to hear around last call at a Bakersfield biker bar. Or, more to the point, what you'd get if you mashed up the dialogue from the two previous scripts written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Zombieland and G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Last seen decapitated and heading down the chimney of a nuclear plant at the end of X-Men: Origins in 2009, Wade Wilson/Deadpool has always seemed like a tough nut to crack in terms of centering a mass-audience film on him. A brash and brazen mercenary, he's an anti-hero with a film noir lead's taste for the louche and low-down, as well as a character who, in narrative terms, stands out due to his predilection for breaking the fourth wall. Whether he could make the grade as the leading man of a franchise of his own was always a question, which partly accounts for the prolonged wait-and-see on Marvel's part.

Other reasons for hesitation lay in the character not being a superhero like all the others and, if the pic were to be done right, the necessity of an R rating — a place Marvel has never gone before. How to reconcile the brand's image and fan base with such material? The answer probably lies in the fact that Marvel is so successful now, and so far down the line with their various franchises, that shaking things up was seen as permissible and maybe even a good move. Or perhaps executives aware early on of what was happening with Fantastic Four said, “Opposite direction! Now!”

At first, with some strained/cheeky opening credits (“a moody teen,” “a gratuitous cameo”) followed by an emotional-investment-free highway action sequence notable for its splatter gore content, things don't look promising — just wiseass-y and needlessly violent. Who is this guy in red and black spandex with white fabric where eyes should be, who fights with two katanas, spins in the air in slo-mo and has wounds that heal at once? Shoot this guy full of holes and he'll be back at you within seconds. “I may be super, but I'm no hero,” he cracks. Why should we care?

Flash back two years and things seem no better, save, perhaps, for the dude's face, which now plainly belongs to Reynolds. A grown man who hangs at a skateboard park, Wade Wilson is a former Special Forces operative whose watering hole is a dive called Sister Margaret's Home for Wayward Girls, where the guys are all former soldiers of fortune who never hit the jackpot and the gals look like Hooters rejects. Wade and a bitter hooker named Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) hit it off and get it on in a kinky montage that's more out-there than what most Hollywood-made R-rated stuff ever serves up.
It's right around here, and immediately afterward, when Wade is diagnosed as having late-stage cancer, that, ironically, the film really starts to click. When a doctor mentions the possibility of going to Chechnya for special treatment, Wade responds, “Isn't that where you go to get cancer?” and you finally begin to sense that there might be something to this verbal speed-freak character after all.
The positioning of the flashback seems simple but serves the movie extremely well, especially with the arrival of Ajax (Ed Skrein, deeply evil), a doctor and head of something called the WeaponX workshop, who takes Wade on as a reclamation project and turns him into a fighting machine who can never die. Ajax's sadism during the painful transformation process knows no bounds and, at the end of the ordeal, he takes particular pleasure in introducing Wade to his new face, which resembles ground beef (Vanessa's measured reaction to beholding it is, “It's a face … I'd be happy to sit on”).

A longtime commercials and visual effects executive and creative director, Tim Miller hasn't so much directed his first feature as liberated much of what has been bubbling under the surface of superhero films for a long time.

DISCLAIMER: STOP TAKING YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS MOVIE. IT IS RATED R FOR A REASON.

Deadpool is a great representation of what happens when comic fans get the movie they clamor for and not a Hollywood version. Ryan Reynolds lives up to his billing as the crazy but lovable **** Deadpool is fully realized and mixes the dark comedy, 4th wall breaking, and crazy bodily antics of his comic book counterpart.

The movie certainly had a small budget, but it seems to work in the movie's favor. In addition to giving the writers joke opportunities, the small budget forced the producers and director to be creative in their approach to story telling and avoids losing the intimacy with the audience that modern grand scale superhero movies tend to.

The largest issue with the movie is the CG effects. Colossus in particular looks a little to shiny and goofy. The movie could have done with a few more practical effects instead of the somewhat lazy CG used throughout the movie. However, this is a very small gripe. A few jokes occasionally fail to land and some of the side characters are not explored in much depth.

In summation, Deadpool is a greatly entertaining superhero comedy and action flick. If you are averse to gore, sexual activity, or foul language, you may want to avoid this movie. Otherwise, enjoy!

Unfortunately much of the action, and Deadpool's motivation hinges on a couple really weak plot points: "Will my girlfriend still find me hot?" "The bad guy got away because I was busy cracking jokes." Quite a few of the jokes fall flat, and the flash-back device is used to death, to the point that a key action sequence stutters in and out in a rather bizarre way. A fun movie, but not really the breakout super-hero movie that it's been sold as, it's really just like an R-rated X-Men movie. Expand

Well, it won't disappoint you in terms of Deadpool as a character. The movie, the plot, the actors(except Ryan Reynolds) are nothing special. But the people who know Deadpool mostly don't care for that. They care about seeing their favorite wise-cracking comic book anti-hero in the big screen, hoping that he would be just as he should be. And I gotta say, Ryan Reynolds did a very good job as Deadpool. I honestly can't imagine anyone else more suited for the role, other than him. Again, the movie itself is nothing great. Bland acting, dragging scenes, lots of CGI (you can tell the studio has had some budget constraints), and a mediocre story-line. This is all offset by the humor, the tremendous amount of easter eggs and inside jokes, and the well researched, and skill portrayal of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.

Go see this movie. It's funny, dark, shocking (in terms of jokes) and most fans of Deadpool will not be disappointed. Also, 4th wall breaks within 4th wall breaks!

Too bad it sucks. It's over-the-top violent and a non-stop stream of biting snappy raunchy and way too referential hip vulgar black humor that is sometimes funny, but mostly is not. Worse is the same old formulaic origin story that is so sickeningly familiar at this point that if you're not bored by this, you either haven't seen much these days or you are just dumb. Or you're a jackass who gives a pass to something you fool yourself into thinking is with it. The veneer of a wannabe fresh form and tone does not do the job. Ryan Reynolds is an annoyingly self conscious actor much of the time and here that's played to the hilt. I'd take the under-rated not terrible "Green Lantern" over this silly debaucherous **** Expand

Good: Full of action, comedy was on point most of the time, interesting characters, compelling story and the 4th wall breaking was FANTASTIC.

Bad: Comedy was a meh at other times, villain sucked. People talk it up too much to i was a little disappointed with what i got.

Overall deadpool was pretty good and i recommend checking it out even if you don't like comic book movies since this is very different from most of them.

Don't expect shakespeare, but it is pretty funny. I'd almost dock it a point for the cliche plotline, but I have to return it for it staying true to the comics and being unafraid of the R rating. Deadpool is a classic example; it knows that it is a cartoonish, over-the-top superhero self-parody that gleefully pokes fun at itself, it's audience, superheroes, and popular culture in general, and it does so with style and charm. The film is violent, vulgar, and funny in turns, perfectly in keeping with the titular character himself, and it's clear the film makers "get" what Deadpool is about.

Ryan Reynolds is clearly having a ball playing the character he was perhaps always destined to since he played Hannibal King in Blade Trinity, and his enthusiasm for the project is clear in everything he does. Also worthy of note is the direction of Tim Miller, who did an excellent job for a first time director, filming better action sequences than many far more experienced directors I could think of. Both men deserve huge credit, as it's clear that the film simply wouldn't have ever been made without their determination to make it happen.

The only real criticisms one could really hold against it are a that it has fairly basic story once you allow for the time jumping, that the villain is pretty bland and not well explained, and that some of the CGI (mainly Colossus) is kind of low rent. But in the end, none of those issues ultimately detract in any significant way from what is an engaging, genuinely funny, and thoroughly enjoyable super anti-hero romp.

Having said all that, it's also fair to say that Deadpool is not for everyone. There is no doubt that this film will rub some people the wrong way. The R18 rating is not misplaced, so if you dislike graphic violence, nudity, cursing, and puerile humour, this is probably one to avoid. Maybe don't take your mum to see it.
