A film, and legendary comic and kelp are both funny and interesting as his Ant-Man comics were good but old subject more. I'm a good mark for this movie.

Fairly average movie to be honest. It was almost like the guys at Marvel thought "audiences quite like the one-liners, let's make an entire movie out of them."

Boring and uninspired, this is certainly the most overhyped movie of the year.

"From the studio that inexplicably sewed his **** mouth shut the first time, comes... me!"

'Deadpool' is my favorite comic book movie ever made. The comedy is so on point, in my opinion it's the kinda breath of fresh air the first 'Hangover' was back in 2009, however 'Pool' is a way funnier movie. Ryan Reynolds as the 'Merc with a Mouth' is his career defining role and after a string of flops that included the critically reviled 'Green Lantern' & 'R.I.P.D.', Reynolds FINALLY catches lightning in a bottle with the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time and it's well deserved. Seeing an R-rated (Fox) Marvel film with such a wide release gives me hope that whatever happened with last years 'Fantastic Four' reboot will not happen again, or at least not in the near future.

I went in expecting some decent jokes, fun action scenes and good characters. What I got was one of the best written scripts of all time, a perfectly nailed lead character, as well as great side characters, consistently funny jokes that never failed to make the audience erupt in laughter both times I saw the film, and some of the best shot and directed action sequences I've seen in a long time.

Deadpool is an absolute blast, there's no other word to describe it. It's not a shining cinematic masterpiece, but it does everything it can and should do, absolutely perfectly.

Deadpool was a gamble similar to 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy, a gamble that succeeded tremendously. This movie washes away all the seriousness that previous marvel movies contained. Instead it stays true to the main character Deadpool, with its comedy and breaking the 4th wall. There are tons of jokes that are perfect in its execution and every time brought the audience into laughter. Given its R rating, gore, violence, nudity and language, I suggest kids to not see this film. This film is R rated for a reason.

Deadpool is an origin story but it is shown through flashbacks that happen throughout the first half of the film. It did and excellent job depicting Wade Wilson’s (Ryan Reynolds) life and the creation of Deadpool. The supporting cast did well in providing additional comedy. Each supporting character shows that they are truly present, not some side character that is instantly forgotten. The villains however were lackluster. Francis aka Ajax, the dish wash soap, wasn't that big of an evil person like The Joker or Loki. Yes he has abilities but it did not portray him as this invincible being. He just seems like a small stepping stone for Deadpool. Francis ally Angel doesn't offer much as well, or even talk much. She is more powerful than Ajax, being able to hold her own during her fight with Colossus. In the end she is just a forgotten bad guy, most likely not going to appear in the sequel.

The obvious star of the film is Ryan Reynolds. He just roast his roles in previous superhero films, Wolverine Origins and Green Lantern. Think of Deadpool as when Seth Macfarlane hosted the Oscars in 2013, making fun of celebrities, jokes that actually work. Sure there are a few controversial ones but you know that he did and excellent job that you want him to come back for another year, maybe more. Since this is a real Marvel film, unlike that train wreck Fantastic Four, there has got to be a Stan Lee appearance. Avoiding spoilers, I want to say that Stan Lee did that cameo well and in the most perfect place possible. If you have any doubts on watching this movie, doubt no more, it will be worth the ticket price and multiple viewings. TRUST ME!

IfSimply put: I loved Deadpool. This is a movie and a character that felt tailored to Ryan Reynolds, using excessive amounts of sarcasm, gross humor and awesome action to craft perhaps the most enjoyable superhero to watch since Iron Man. If anyone has ever said "I wish some of these superhero movies would be a bit more adult-like", this is your movie. The character breaking that "4th wall" and talking to the audience at times, plus the sprinkled jabs at the evolving Marvel universe (especially after X-Men, Days of Future Past) are all incredible, bold moved that pay off. I loved just about everything there was to Deadpool. That being said, I did think that there may have been opportunities to make this origin story even funnier and more interesting - that would have put this among some of my favorite movies ever. It's absolutely entertaining, and I think a majority of viewers that are interested in watching this film will have a good time at the theater. I'd honestly give it an 8.5/10 if the rating meter allowed me to, but I went with the conservative approach in that department. Expand

Even Stan Lee's cameo was amazing and he's usually barely noticeable as his acting chops lack well chops. This movie definitely earned its "R" rating as there is plenty of raunch and nudity. Not complaining as it wasn't gratuitous by any means. The humor is on point and not just thrown out there to try and be funny. Ryan Reynolds is absolutely perfect for this role. I was also proud to see that the movie theater was carding kids trying to see this flick. If you want an adult superhero movie, go see this one. You need to not know a thing as the movie does a great job with origin story and current action together. It goes back and forth and superbly done. Whatever you do, stay and watch after the credits. There might be some generation gap issues for those not familiar with the 90's but all in all a f*cking great movie! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As always it's what you don't see in the trailer that kills a film. In Deadpool's case it's the sappy moments that drag it down. You know the ones where the music gets all sad and you're supposed to feel that this is important and dramatic as if you had some Pavlovian response. Much time is wasted on unnecessary long origin story. Instead of spending time with Deadpool we are stuck with Wade and you just wish it would return to the action again.

But what's the weirdest part about this film is how basic the plot is. What would typically be a half, or even a third, of a typical superhero plot is the entire story in this film. And when you learn how small the budget was you kind of have to wonder did they simply not have enough money for a big scale action film?

And of course your enjoyment of the film will depend on your tolerance for crude, juvenile profanity that becomes old really fast. The problem is that it's so overused in this film that it looses its punch towards the end.

That's about what's bad about the film, but it has plenty of good to make up for it. The humour for one thing as this film seems more like a parody than a legitimate superhero film. Ryan Reynolds plays it perfectly, so much that you can forgive him for a certain other superhero film. The first 20 minutes or so are made of pure awesome as it's the type of action that should have been the entire film. And there's an Adventure Time watch (yes I'm including this).

Overall I ended up liking Deadpool because its good parts shine over the flaws, but after a film like Mad Max: Fury Road last year I can't say I'm not a little disappointed.

While the story is extremely run of the mill, and about the only thing the movie doesn't make fun of, the content is absolutely amazing and there are so many call backs to the good and bad things (HINT: Wolverine's version of Deadpool 10 years ago). This movie just loves making fun of itself and it's certainly at its best when it does. It's not meant to be taken seriously in any means and the jokes are very crude sometimes. There's also alot of blood and gore for a Marvel movie so young kids should stay away from it. But there's nothing better than Deadpool right now and Marvel is riding the hot hand by already greenlighting Deadpool 2. If it's as good as the first one, they've got a hit on their hands. Expand

The R rating definitely was not wasted as the adult humor and vulgarity fell right in line with the Deadpool that comic book readers are familiar with. And while I loved Ryan Reynolds and the humor I thought the story fell extremely short. Deadpool has a very tragic back story that I personally did not feel they tapped into. In the comics Wade Wilsons transformation left him not only humorous but also wacky and at times extremely depressed. Maybe that is something they will touch on in the future. With that said it was not totally necessary for the writers and director to tap into that version of Deadpool but they definitely could have given us a better script to sink our teeth into. On top of a stronger script the movie started out very action packed but after the first 15 to 20 minutes the action gradually fell off and never reached the level of the beginning of the movie again. In my opinion if you like raunchy, action hero type movie you will love Deadpool; however, if you are looking for something with a little more substance you may be disappointed. Expand

The story features love and revenge, with well-paced flash-backs to the origin story of Wade Wilson as he becomes Deadpool. He is the 'merc with a mouth', and gaining his powers does little to change his personality; he is a selfish and damaged man who and hides behind his sarcasm. Both in and out of costume, he brings laughs as he chats up friends, enemies, a taxi driver and the audience. Deadpool is no typical movie adaptation of a comic book character. The film unapolegetically targets the young male demographic, and is nowhere near family-friendly like Spiderman or The Avengers. Deadpool, which is very R rated, is intended for mature viewers who enjoy extremely immature comedy in addition to over the top violence. It's not for kids, except the ones with 'cool parents' of course.
Director, Tim Miller, who has worked on the blockbuster video game series, Mass Effect, and one of my favorite films, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, strongly impresses in his first feature film. The CGI effects are well-utilized and Deadpool's signature style of breaking the fourth wall is a frequent treat. The plot and pacing provide a steady stream of fun with no lull's in the action. The film has its common themes and cliches like any, but makes fun of them to viewers as they occur, turning anything generic into a laugh. Be prepared for a vulgar, perverted and crude joke filled journey of over-the-top violence. If nudity or atypical sex scenes offend you, then beware. The satirical humor can be dark and twisted similar to South Park at its most extreme. Not all the comedic dialog lands flush, but the creatively colorful language from Deadpool and friends keeps the laughter coming. Both the visual and sound effects were fantastic, and the music fit well.
Ryan Reynolds feels perfectly cast as the quick-witted anti-hero. He is completely believable as the jokester, and shows his diversity in the more emotional scenes. Ed Skrein stars as the antagonist/villain, Ajax. Although the character is a prototypical British baddie, his back and forth with Reynolds is great. Ajax is regularly backed up by the ass-kicking Angel Dust, played by Mixed Martial Arts star, Gina Carano. Actor T.J. Miller provides comedic support as the best friend, Weasle. Morena Baccarin, who plays the role of Wilson's girlfriend, Vanessa, impresses in a silly and fun role in stark contrast to her work in V and Homeland.
When Reynolds is Deadpool, he has another pair of supporting characters in the form of X-Men, Collossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. The former is played by Stefan Kapicic and Greg LaSalle, who split the work between voice and physical acting respectively. The Latter, who I'll call NTW, is Brianna Hildebrand, who didn't even know what role she was auditioning for nor what her powers would look like on screen, but pulls it off well.
This movie is not for the easily offended, and not to be taken seriously. Entertainment value is what counts, and Deadpool has it in droves. It oozes originality from the advertising campaign all the way to the opening credits and post-film teaser. I can't think of another movie that entertained so consistently. Consumers have already cast their votes with their wallets, as Deadpool took in about $130 million this opening weekend, slicing up the previous box office record set by The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 by over $15 million. I recommend you view this film and see what the buzz is about, assuming you are an adult with a sense of humor. Disclaimer: I am not responsible for the corruption of any innocent souls that may result from watching Deadpool.

After the abysmal Fan4stic; I was a bit nervous about this movie. The marketing was top notch but I dared to hope that the film lived up to the marketing. I couldn't be happier to say that Deadpool finally has delivered the Deadpool fans have been wanting. Not sewing his mouth shut was an excellent start.

The movie earns its R rating with a copious amount of nudity, gratuitous violence and wanton profanity. Reynolds was born to play this character. The film opens by treating you to one of the best opening credit sequences ever. The film also manages a great balance of action, exposition and 4th wall self awareness. In fact its the 4th wall breaks that offer some of the films more entertaining moments. Reynolds even pokes fun at himself as well as his former movies like Green Lantern and other Marvel properties and indeed Fox themselves.

The fact that Fox took the risk to make this film as they did should be applauded. It also bears mentioning that the supporting cast are good as well. Colossus is incredibly likable as is his young trainee Negasonic Teenage Warhead. My one criticism is that the villains themselves weren't all that interesting and were pretty obscure.

The movie also has one of the best cameos of Stan Lee ever! If you love Deadpool you owe it to yourself to see this film. This was made for the fans. Also be sure to stick around through the end credits as well!

When the “Too Pool for School” is in action though, seeing him swing his dual wielded katana’s through the spleen of an enemy is truly a wondrous site. Definitely excited for the sequel, which is *SPOILER* apparently going to contain Cable (and hopefully the constant battling voices in Pool’s head). The gruesomely awesome action and adult themes is something Marvel has been missing since the days of Blade, and it is good to have them back. It is definitely worth the watch.

I give it:
70/100. Great, but definitely room for improvement.

And particularly since First Class is the only great non-Bryan Singer X Men film. But they did it. Somehow, Fox loosened up enough to let a real creative vision through and avoid another Fantastic Four situation.

This movie is what a Deadpool movie can, and should, be. My only real complaint is the lack of a compelling villain and seemingly no connection to Weapon X or Stryker. Fox didn't seem to want to explore the X Men universe in the movie - possibly because of the timeline shenanigans and not knowing what their present day X Men-verse looks like (Apocalypse is in the 80s)

Despite a formulaic yet expected superhero plot, the non-linear narrative by slipping the several action sequences together with flashbacks added with the heavy adult-related hilarious jokes throughout the film are wildly entertaining. The film stays faithfully to the characteristics of Deadpool - both humors and violence, which are perfectly portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, who is definitely the right actor to suit the character. The romantic chemistry between Wilson and Vanessa is emotionally engaging and convincing compared to Wolverine, making it a great option for Valentine outing. Changing his suit from green to red, Reynolds certainly has a lot of fun time in this non-family-friendly superhero adventure and the overall outcome has made the classic Deadpool shines among the other superheroes from the same studio. Anyway, Deadpool is a awesome film directed by Tim Miller and starring Ryan Reynolds as the one and only Deadpool. Now, as this film really doesn't feel like it has a script, that really doesn't matter, why have a script when you have constant and unexpected 4th wall breaks to tell the story right? Maybe, there is a story to the film between Deadpool and his fiance where unexpectedly it gets tied into Deadpool's plan for revenge on the important Francis who turned him into what he is. I hope you all realize that this film is undoubtedly funny as **** from it's LMFAO moments like all the 4th wall breaks, the cast was really difficult to recognize other than Ryan Reynolds, TJ Miller, and Gina Carano, the CGI in the film was hardcore **** for a film with a small budget, which is surprising, and don't worry people who can't handle really flashy lights, this film is ok for you to watch, also don't go seeing this movie when you don't know what Deadpool is, cause if you do that and walk out on the movie, you just wasted your money. The movie's soundtrack was perfect enough. The length of the movie couldn't be any longer or shorter as all of the crazy **** that happens right before your eyes happens for your own enjoyment. Honestly, I have never seen a film so spontaneous and surprisingly random through bloody and Gorey gunfights which are insane, along with a great lead character. Deadpool is something you will never see like this ever again. Expand

It's also one of the more entertaining superhero films in a while and probably one of the very best X-films (not that that is saying a whole lot). The structure is a little wonky and Deadpool's schtick gets dangerously close to wearing out its welcome by the end of the film, but overall the film is a blast. Ryan Reynolds is perfect as Deadpool, the jokes are plentiful if not always successful and the filmmakers seem to really get what makes this character work. It also benefits from coming along at just the right time - all of the recent talk of 'superhero fatigue' sets up this film perfectly as a breath of fresh air while also allowing all of the fourth-wall breaking meta commentary on the genre that peppers the film to be accessible to the general public. Again, it's not perfect, but the audience I saw it with actually clapped when it was over. Deadpool is a great irreverent nasty little B-movie in the vein of Punisher: War Zone (take that as you will). Good times. Expand

While I expected this movie to be good, I have to admit that I didn't expect it to be this good. Deadpool's character was hilarious and it was refreshing to see a superhero movie that didn't let the villains live to cause havoc another day.

We even get some sex thrown in for good measure. This is not a "Super Hero" movie. This is an "Anti-Hero" origin story.
At the theater, there were signs all over stating that this movie was NOT FOR KIDS. Well, if people would get their heads out of their *sses and actually bone up on the source material first before just blinding going to see a movie, (or maybe pay attention the the big "R" rating), then people would know not to take younger viewers to see things like this.

Violence - check.
Vulgarity - super check.
Sex and nudity - I'm gonna touch myself tonight

The action is solid, the comedy is excellent (if you're not offended easily), the acting is decent....
My only real complaint is there are some scenes that just feel out of place. Namely the ones involving some of the other Marvel characters involved. I know that at least a basic introduction is in order, but it, for me, felt out of place and slowed the pacing down.

None the less, I enjoyed it. My wife of 13 years enjoyed it. The surrounding audience seemed to enjoy it (indicated by the repeated outbursts of laughter). I look forward to a sequel, and look forward to seeing what they do with a much bigger budget.

In closing, Deadpool was a fun ride, and a step in the right direction for this underused yet well liked character. But remember kids, this was an ADULT ride. The kiddie rides are over that way 8=======>

Exactly what a Deadpool film should be. If you expect a "Avenger" type of super hero film, you're watching the wrong film, and you've probably lived behind a rock for some time if you don't know what Deadpool is about. I guess if Ant-Man and of all people can get his own movie (and a
pretty good one at that), then Deadpool can finally get his own movie.
Luckily, Fox bounced back from its monumental flop Fantastic Four last
August with the pretty decent R-rated comic book flick Deadpool. In
Deadpool, Wade Wilson is a mercenary in New York City when he meets a
woman named Vanessa at a local bar. They hook up, and a year later,
Wade pops the question with a ring pop which she accepts. Wade then
collapses and is later diagnosed with terminal cancer. One night at the
bar, he meets a recruiter from a secret program who offers an
experimental treatment for his cancer. Wade declines and leaves, but he
later reconsiders the offer and leaves Vanessa in the middle of the
night to receive the treatment. The procedure involves getting tortured
for weeks on end until a mutation occurs, and Wade is severely
disfigured in the process, although his cancer is cured, and he's
practically immortal. Wade escapes the facility that looks exactly like
the torture chamber in Hostel and vows revenge on the person who did
this to him. Oh, and somehow he's aware that he's in a movie. For all
its intents and purposes, Deadpool is a very fun and sometimes funny
movie, although not all the jokes hit, and it gets a little exhausting
towards the end. The ridiculous, over-the-top violence also makes the
movie unnaturally entertaining for a comic book flick. Hopefully more
R- rated superhero movies are made in the future. Deadpool's ability to
break the fourth wall also makes the film more interesting, but it
causes the plot to suffer somewhat. A lot of the backstory is told by
Deadpool in flashbacks, causing the film to jump around in time a lot.
Deadpool may not be the crowning achievement of comic book movies, but
it's entertaining enough to watch in the theater. I'm sure it'll be the
perfect movie for 12 year old boys' slumber parties after their parents
have gone to sleep.

This film will appeal to fans of both the new and old Deadpool alike, as it contains the plot and character of the original, along with the off-the-wall randomness of the newer comics. Go see this movie and do not bring your kids to see it. It might have X-Men in it, but there are a lot of stuff in the movie that is not child appropriate, and don't even think about making a patrician to make this movie PG-13 because you will be the dumbest person on this earth to do such a little stupid thing so that 8 year olds can watch it and then the movie will suck and we will just have another Fantastic. Directed by Tim Miller. from the starting credits till the films ending when Deadpool comes written in red, to say honestly, i am satisfied. What makes Deadpool so irressistible despite it not having one of the best storylines, though not even completely trashable is its unconventional style of storytelling which is a smart move by the makers. But this is not the only thing which makes Deadpool different from other super-hero movies. Froth language, comically stylish and fun narrative, cool action sequences, slow motion sequences, spot-on badass dialogues and pitch perfect editing are some more things which make Deadpool different and a little unique as well. Where Deadpool suffers is its script. Deadpools script has loopholes though every superhero movie has but in Deadpool, they are well noticeable. Ed Skrein, who plays Ajax (antagonist) gets a dull, lifeless written role despite he puts on a top-notch show. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool gets it very very, very right as Deadpool and Wade Wilson and is a lot of fun throughout his act. Through this film, we can feel that with how much fun was Deadpool's character was written though its the only well written role in the film. Morena Baccarin as Vanessa (Wade's girlfriend) provides less and she can't do anything about it as her character lacks what was needed. Stefan Kapičić as Colossus feels completely irrelevant and more funny than being a force. Rest of the supporting cast too other than Karan Soni as the Indian taxi driver named Dupinder who is fantastically a laugh riot are forgettable. Though not as memorable, densely plotted as Spiderman and Batman, Deadpool is more fun and wittier. Movie buffs won't complain. A refreshing watch Deadpool is, you won't complain. Btw, the background score of the film lifts the scenes up making them more fun. Deadpool is a rare film where comedy, action, thrills and super-heroism are all very much palpable. I am going with 3.5/5 for Deadpool. Not the greatest, but certainly smart, kickass and badass, certainly. Deadpool is pretty much Deadcool Expand

It’s very funny, very well acted, very well written and the action scenes and the practical effects are pretty damn good. It’s a bit short on it’s plot, but it doesn’t outstay it’s welcome and while this film won’t convert anyone to Deadpool who wasn’t there in the first place it’s a treat for any fans that have waited to see this film made, with all the vulgarity, swearing and 4th Wall being well and truly broken. Finally Ryan Reynolds gets the good comic movie that he deserves. There is a couple of issues with it, but there weren’t enough to sink the movie for me and I would really recommend seeing it at the cinema because there is a lot to marvel about it. It’s not the greatest Superhero ever made, but it’s a damn good one and a very funny one at that which kept me laughing from start to finish and if this is an omen for the year to come, bring on Batman V Superman, and Captain America Civil War already.

Go and see this one in the cinema, but I would also recommend if you are one of the people that wait for it to come out on DVD you might well be within your right because I suspect there will be an extended cut

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, I went into this movie thinking: it'll suck or it'll be OK. Boy I was wrong.

The opening credits were hilarious and unexpected, very clever way to start this type of movie. The first sequence was, for most of it, in the trailers and as I said my expectations weren't that good for the trailers I saw, I didn't laugh at most of the jokes. But as the movie went on, I couldn't believe how interested in the story I was, and how much I was laughing my ass off in every scene. This movie is what it purely needed to be: a damn fun ride!

My favorite jokes were definitely the references to all sorts of things, I remember most of the jokes that I could quote them almost to perfection. This movie really surprised me, and definitely in a good way.

I fully recommend this movie and even if it has some slow parts (the origin story my take sometime) it's definitely worth watching. It's only flawless in what it tries to be: a damn fun ride!
I'm glad Deadpool it's not with the MCU because if it was, we would not get the R rating wich is what makes this movie and it wouldn't be as good as it is.

Treat Deadpool for what it is and nothing more.

It was good, and I'm definitely not going to hold it up to hype, as that would not be fair, but whenever he wasn't making a joke or there was a serious scene, it just felt... bad. It brought out the bad in the movie. Like, if felt like a generic superhero movie.

Now, the humor in this movie was phenomenal, and apart from a few **** jokes, it was spot on. I guess in that department it did it's job well, and I guess that's what it sold it's, well, I wouldn't say 'gimmick', but selling point on. I loved it only for the humor, and it was also good at introducing people like me to the character of Deadpool. Sure some of the joke WERE a bit obvious, and they only referenced chimichangas once and taco ZERO TIMES WHICH WAS A MAJOR PART OF DEADPOOL'S CHARACTER but still, it did make a few good jokes.

So, all in all, this was my first review, and I will improve on my reviews in the future. Goodbye.

The action scenes were incredibly well done, and had me reeling back in excitement in each one. This movie is everything, a comedy, a romance, a showcase of grim dramatic tension and a smack down all combined. As a superhero origin story, Deadpool could have the tendency to slip and trip up and stumble tones once in a while, but thinking about it deeply, Deadpool does not stumble as it is running too fast. You're taken by the balls straight into the madness whilst giving a purge of hilarious detail for the love conflict, the superhero aspect, the villainous revenge plot and it's passion. You could imply that Deadpool is a love letter to love itself, but because it's gratuitous nature and grizzly yet comedic release, dead-pool is a love letter to pornography, sex and human lust. It's a charming, cartoonist chocolate coated tumour, mentally growing on you over time, and it's ludicrously entertaining. Messy has never been so organised. Expand

It seemed that the only thing they emphasized was the humour and I didn't feel anything other than amused. If all the writers focus was equal between creating a captivating storyline and inventing jokes for Deadpool's unwavering wit, I think it would have been better. His jokes and personality basically carried the film with no other characters that seemed to really challenge him. I mean, if this is how it is in the comics, then maybe he's just not for me. I definitely had some good laughs though and the VFX was well done. It was worth seeing Ryan Reynolds fated to play this character. You could really tell how much fun he had and it's admirable. Looking forward to the sequel but I hope he's faced against a better villain. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Deadpool is the first Fox comic book movie that's unashamed of its source material. Sometimes the lack of budget is obvious, but Tim Miller succeeded in translating the aesthetics of a Rob Liefeld comic to the big screen. It's an ugly-looking film, but that works to its advantage since the merc with a mouth lives in a disgusting and nasty world. Kudos for the offbeat pacing in the action scenes (I loved the montage of Deadpool upgrading his costume). Sure, there are plenty of cliches, but all of them are executed in a witty fashion you don't see very often in the genre.
Ryan Reynolds' delivery is on point (his dialog fits him like a tailor-made tuxedo) and won't make you miss Nolan North. He finds himself in the perfect playground to display his comedy and action chops. The supporting cast happens to be fantastic as well. Ed Skrein is having a blast as an "evil for the sake of being evil" villain, TJ Miller and Morena Baccarin have chemistry to spare with Reynolds, and even Gina Carano turned out fine.
It's a flick made by fans for the fans, and a breath of fresh air in the comic book adaptations landscape.

I didn't know much about the character of Deadpool before the film. I have now seen it twice, so thought I could review it fairly.

First of all, the 15(uk) certificate is totally justified. Without it, this film would not work. Without it, boundaries would not be crossed, blood would not be shed, violence would not happen.

From the off the story is told from a first person view, often breaking the fourth wall. None of the "2 months earlier..." text or anything like that, the story flows, with the action slowing down and breaking into a flashback, which is such a good (and original) way of doing an origin story.

The story does a good job of introducing us to the main characters, and secondary characters are also given more than the one line. However, the bad guy is a little bit one dimensional, with no idea of why he is the bad guy.

Personally, I loved this film - it was a welcome change from the usual Marvel origin story thanks to the rating, the character of Deadpool is now one of my favourites.

The main thing that will be remembered about the movie will be many horrendous shots of gratuitous violence. Yes we know the actors got up and went to the food table after the scenes but hands and heads being chopped off, men being kneed, punched in the crouch, women being brutalized will last longer than the movie being remembered.

The most positive aspects of the movie is the energetic performance of Ryan Reynolds giving his all, not only in making fun of his real image but in showing most of all his body! He has a sweet romance with Morena Baccarin who is as sexy looking, acting and talking as Reynolds. He is also responsible for the breaking of the 4th wall and talking to the audience consistently which sometimes works but most times doesn’t.

The opening credits are one of the best parts of the movie and the drawings, and written comments, at the end is another while sadly the rest of the movie doesn’t reach the height of either. With its raunchy, dirty, teenage humor, along with sex scenes and very visual violence, “Deadpool” earns an R rating but there were many teens in the auditorium.

Why with compliments for Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, and the entire supporting cast giving fine performances in a comic book way, the opening and closing credits, a sweet, sexy love story, am I not putting this on the same level as “Ant Man”? The answer is too much of the screenplay is made of clichés, often told jokes and repeated action/violence scenes from similar made Marvel movies.

Should you decide to see it you have to see it on a movie screen or otherwise you will miss out on the never ending special effects which are the cornerstone of Marvel movies. Oh yes, and buff bodies both male and female!
