This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Finally watched Cruella and it was magnificent, I just loved the whole punk rock aesthetic; the whole visual style of the movie was excellent. I loved how they reinvented the Cruella character to make her more of an antihero and how they totally changed up the One Hundred and One Dalmatians story but still keep some elements in like Anita, Roger, Pongo, and Perdita as well as the Cruella de Vil song. The costumes were just spectacular, some of the best costumes I've ever seen. The performances from Emma Stone and Emma Thompson were outstanding, just perfection Stone did an excellent job at bringing humor and giving a heart to a normally heartless character and Thompson gave one of the best villainous performances I've seen, also the performances Paul Walter Hauser and John McCrea were great. The makeup and hairstyling were phenomenal especially on Emma Thompson and Emma Stone. The sets were superb. The soundtrack is awesome, the song selection was perfect and original music was great. The only criticisms I have would be that the screenplay at times was a little cheesy and the visual effects specifically the Dalmatians were a little odd and not the best or most realistic looking but other then that it was a pretty perfect movie.… Expand

Well, I didn't see the film "101 Dalmatians", at least not "actively", but I know that there is a protagonist there, "Cruella".

The film looks like a theatrical performance rather than a movie. The actors are a bit run-of-the-mill, but Emma Thomson is the best of the whole film.
If you want to see a very good actress, you can watch the film, without Emma Thomson the film would be 4-5/10, but with Emma Thomson 8/10. The film is ok, acting by Emma Thomson is perfect... I would even go so far that she could get an Oscar nomination, that's how good I thought the acting was. The film itself is really something "childish", "gloomy" but a bit "special" in terms of quality, as I said, just because of Emma Thomson I give the film an 8/10...… Expand

Walking into Cruella I had no idea what to expect. Cruella is easily my 2nd favorite movie of 2021 so far. Emma Stone is absolutely breathtaking as Cruella and is so perfectly cast. The film is so much fun and I cannot wait to add this to my home collection.… Expand

Let me tell you, I drug my fight on watching this movie. My wife tried to get me to watch it for weeks and weeks and I just had no interest. I really wasnt sure id enjoy this as much as i did. The soundtrack is relentlessly well chosen and the plot moves with a decent pace with some superb cinematography.

As enjoyable as the screenplay was, I couldn't help feeling that the original material upon which the character is based was more of an anchor than not and that if it had simply been any other nameless character i might've been less distracted by its presence. Emma Stone was superb as the title character and in scenes with Emma Thompson showed great chemistry. The whole Cruella/estella writing never quite sat well with me as it feels like there is not enough depth to her motivations to justify most of her actions (regardless of how entertaining they are!). But i just kind of switched off from overthinking this and enjoyed the ride.

The soundtrack was so well chosen i may as well have been listening to a selection of 60's and 70's hits for two hours. The sets and visual effects were at times quite stunning.

Overall this was a fascinating and well produced work of art and a great movie experience.… Expand

1. Alt-right: "Disney is pushing the modern agenda!" Cmon, this is not the universe of the Witcher or something! Black characters and gays are not in conflict with the fashion industry in England in the 70s. As well as the fact that women rule in this movie, which is based on the world of fashion. This movie was not about war, damn it! Personally, I'm against modern tradition to put black persons where they are unfit the lore. But this movie is not the case.

2. Dog lovers: "I like dalmatians, why she will try to skin them later? Her motivation is unclear."
She sees dalmatians as tools that killed some1 she loved.
She has the genes of a psychopath. She's obsessed with success in the wild fashion industry which leads her to become a psycho herself, achieving her goals at any cost.
How TF can the motivation of a psychopath to make a fur coat out of someone she hates be unclear at all?

3. Fantasy Haters: "This Disney movie is for kids"
Oh, really? Disney, for kids? Who would ever guess!

I had no real desire to watch this, plus I haven't really liked Disney's live action stuff, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Great another Disney prequel movie about making a Disney villain sympathetic. That was my thought when I heard the announcement of this movie. I had no care about watching this as Disney have sucked with these live-action prequel/remake ofGreat another Disney prequel movie about making a Disney villain sympathetic. That was my thought when I heard the announcement of this movie. I had no care about watching this as Disney have sucked with these live-action prequel/remake of Disney animated movies. I eventually decided to give it a watch as there was a fair amount of internet buzz, both positive and negative, that kind of made me want to watch it. So does Disney finally do it right or is does this skin the legacy of 101 Dalmatians?

Firstly, Emma Stone does a phenomenal job as Cruella. I honestly thought no one would be able to live up to the performance by Glenn Close, who is also an executive producer on the movie, as Cruella but Emma Stone proved me wrong. Her performance was very stylish and cruel which is exactly what I want from Cruella. Emma does add another layer to the character in the heartfelt moments which does make her more sympathetic. Emma Thompson plays the antagonist, the Baroness, and she also delivers an amazing performance by being narcissistic and full of attitude. Every time Emma Thompson is on screen she just steals it. Joel Fry and Paul Walter Hauser also do a good job as Jasper and Horace respectively. They play the friends of Cruella and add a level of heart and fun to the movie that I really enjoyed.

One of the best aspects of Cruella (2021) is the rivalry between the titular character and the Baroness. Seeing both of them compete in fashion war was surprisingly exciting to watch. Every scene with them together is tense, and this is thanks to both Emma Stone and Emma Thompson having great chemistry. I also really love how bold and dark the director, Craig Gillespie, went with it. There is violence, murder, attempted murder, attempted child murder and corruption that genuinely surprised me. There is also a twist near the end that I think was pretty good and I think a fair amount of people would not expect.

Cruella (2021) is a visual spectacle thanks to the costume design by Jenny Beavan’s. There are countless different and unique clothes throughout the movie that are stunning. We got the extremely over the top fashion from Cruella but we also got the elegant yet beautiful clothes of the Baroness. There are so many costume changes and they are all great yet perfectly represent the characters, it is quite an achievement from Jenny. The set design is also really well done and bring 1970s London to life. We get the gloomy city but the vibrant parties which all look stunning. The cinematography by Nicolas Karakatsanis is gorgeous and illustrates the party and costumes perfectly. One scene on the top of my mind is the Cruella catwalk which looked stunning thanks to the cinematography. Cruella also has a great music score by Nicholas Britell. The orchestral compose soundtrack works well for every scene and really captures the emotion of the moment. He also utilizes a 1970s pop soundtrack which you think would be annoying but it works so well here. Every song choice is used effectively and fits the scene that is occurring. However, some scenes get slightly ruined thanks to the really bad CGI. The CGI is very noticeable, especially when it is the dogs which I don't get why they had to be CGI. There are scenes at night that are usually done to hide bad CGI but even that doesn't work to cover it up. Additionally, the story is very predictable for the most part and simply goes beat for a beat on a villain origin that is very formulaic. Disney has done the story beats for Maleficent and this goes the same way. The runtime is also 134 minutes which is very noticeable as there are some moments where the pacing slows down considerably. It could have cut down by at least 15 minutes while still retaining the core elements. There are issues with the screenplay with some lines feeling overly cringy or edgy that sound dumb and don't quite fit the tone of the movie. One big gripe I had was a dumb moment near the beginning to make Cruella sympathetic that was so stupid that I laughed even though it was not meant to be funny. It was just a really weird and dumb way to justify her hatred of the Dalmatians.

Overall, Cruella (2021) surprised me a lot in how much I enjoyed it. It was to the point that I couldn't believe this was the same company that made Mulan (2020). Despite feeling there was no need to make a prequel on dog skinning lady even after finishing Cruella (2021), it's an excellent movie. It has gorgeous cinematography, stunning costumes and sets, a vibrant soundtrack with an amazing performance from Emma Stone and Emma Thompson. There is a lot to love in this movie which is why I believe that anyone who is still sceptical, should give Cruella (2021) a chance. It might surprise you.… Expand

Doing for this human Disney villain what Angelina Jolie did for Maleficent, Emma Stone portrays a character who was once nothing but an evil character in a story that was a book, and then a film (sevearl times over) and now, she has her own origin story.

Looking at the way things are, we're seeing these origin story films taking off. We've had it with Maleficent, We've had it with Joker and now we've got the one and only Cruella DeVil. While normally I am not one to go for milking characters from franchises, I can say this story was more dark and twisted than I expected. While it's not a film you could stick the youngest kids in front of, it's certainly one that is a nice nod to those of the generation who grew up with this classic character.

There are a few changes that take you by surprise, such as how Cruella is not as heartless as she's seen to be in the story book or the original Disney animation classic, but she is shown to have a natural side of malice to her, which comes from her mother. Yet, the kindness in her comes from her father, which shines in her in the last minutes of the film.

Emma Stone was someone I never would of personally pegged to play s uch a character, yet I am happily proven wrong by her amazing acting skills. Watching her on screen, she takes you through several emotions ranging from cheering her on, to wondering if you really want to like her anymore, to feeling sympathy for her to feeling joy at her long overdue triumph.

The film gives several nods to things people who know the original story of 101 Dalmatians, such as the three savage Dalmatians owned by the Baroness, the mention of how Cruella thinks they'd make a fantastic coat. The mention of how the car she obtains, which is pointed out by Horace to called a DeVil, is a name she likes so she adopts it as her last name. Then of course we get the appearance of Pongo and Perdita, the famous Dalmatian duo appearing in the final moments of the film.

Overall, this film is a wonderful watch, one I could indeed watch again in a short while as it's just well done and good from start to finish. The only thing I feel is a little issue is how it panders to sme political correctness with some race changes, but it's not the worst thing.

Other than that, it's a very emotional story telling of how one girl born different grows up thinking she needs to shun who she truly is to get anywhere. And only when does she embrace those differences does her power shine through and she begins to become the Queen inside she knows she is. It's a bit of a classic tale, one which teaches you to that being who you are is the best thing to be. Though, this telling of that classic lesson twists it up by not hiding the fact that anyone can find bad parts to the true selves. It's down to deciding who you want to be is where you'll find out if you're good or bad.

By the end of the film, it's really down to the viewer to decide whether if Cruella is as bad as she was originally shown to be, or if there's more to this character than we ever knew.

Will there be a sequel? Knowing Disney, it's probably already in the works. But with what's been set up, there's a chance they could make it work. Do I want to see a sequel? I'm half and half on that. But only time will tell if it will happen and if it'll be any good if it does.

The film is a 9/10. A win for Disney, hands down.… Expand

Is this really a Walt Disney movie?
The movie is not at Disney's level at all. You can't compare it to Disney movies (there are no official songs for the movie except for one. That's weird???)

"Cruella" is a mix of Harley Queen that worked with parts of the script and soundtrack of "Joker" and the theme of "The Devil Wears Prada". Disney has a better and more charismatic live action movie that it had ever made!

The wildly inventive, over-the-top beauty of the clothes provides constant visual stimulus. As the funniest thing in the movie, Paul Walter Hauser once again demonstrates his incredible range. Overall, this is more unruly, punk, grown up and even gay-friendly than most Disney releases. Quizás es un poco rara para ser una precuela, parece que sería un reboot, no sé si encaja bien con 101 dálmatas.
Cosas buenas: lo arriesgada que es, las interpretaciones, sobre todo Emma Stone y Emma Thompson, la realización, el vestuario, la banda sonora y el tono general de la película.
Cosas malas: un CGI aunque poco usado bastante malo, se puede hacer larga por momentos, aunque el ritmo se lo impide, y el final roza lo ridículo.

I saw the trailer and almost immediately looked away. After being dragged to the theater though, I can say with certainty it is the most entertaining and fun movie I’ve seen in a long while. Cruella's character is quite similar to Joker and Harley Quinn but still, Cruella is much different from both the anti villains.

She is dark and became burned by her career and looking for revenge as well as popularity just like the joker. While she loves unique costumes, makeup, a hairstyle like Harley Quin. She is cynical too like Harley and self-interested but then Harley is a good-hearted person who just made bad decisions while Cruella is sociopathic and a bit cruel as well.

And as usual in this argument I backed it up saying it was fun for what it was and let’s face it I’m a sucker for style over substance when it comes to these big budget Disney films. Now after seeing Cruella, I can see his viewpoint now 100 percent.
I get this is a reimagining, but this is not Cruella. It may say Cruella but it’s not. She might have the black and white hair and drive the De Vil Car and have the two henchman, but never did I feel like it was the same iconic classic Disney villain who cemented Glen Close as an icon or the original Disney animated flick where she literally wanted a coat out of puppies. However, for what we got I still enjoyed immensely even dare say love at times?
I feel like somebody really wanted to make their own fashion movie set in this era of the 70s at the height of the music scene of that time and being that Disney had the money for funding they had it rewritten so that the heroine was Cruella. Emma stone as always shines giving life into the persona of Estella/Cruella that breathes new life into this character ; simply put you root for her to succeed in this busy thriving fashion industry. Emma Thompson as the Baroness steals the film playing a wicked delicious evil boss lady that would make anybody wanna run at just the sight of her heels. Major props for Artie their first openly gay character who actually contributes to the plot and even helps out Cruella in her outfits. Speaking of outfits, the costumes look incredible major props to the costume designer because she went all out, especially the garbage truck dress had me my jaw dropped. Also, kudos to the director Craig Gillespie who made some fabulous choices with the camera movement. London has never looked better and for a film set in the punk rock of the 70’s it looked stunning no pun intended.
So, Cruella you’re a mixed one darling , on one hand you did everything right but then I don’t like you at the same time. Also, Disney that end credits scene just no ! the whole dog matchmaking thing just leaves a sour taste.… Expand

I really liked what Disney did with this story. For the first time I think Disney finally understands the appeal of a Disney Villain movie. In their original films, these characters, with their larger than life personalities and charisma, areI really liked what Disney did with this story. For the first time I think Disney finally understands the appeal of a Disney Villain movie. In their original films, these characters, with their larger than life personalities and charisma, are particularly and peculiarly magnetic. Yet we are never supposed to root for them, although many of us might do on a certain level like a guilty pleasure. A Disney Villain movie should let us enjoy and indulge in rooting, for once, for the Villain, and said Villain should be every bit as magnetic and devilishly fun as their animated counterparts. Maleficent only gave us the real Maleficent in the Christening scene, allowing us to revel in her dark humor and power, limited only by the fact that what she ultimately does in that scene is bad. The problem is, of course, that Maleficent is just the Sleeping Beauty story told from the villain's perspective. With Cruella, free from the constraints of a 101 Dalmatians retelling, Disney finally allows us to indulge in Cruella's devilish charisma and humor while we dive in a story meticulously planned like one of Cruella's heists. It is an amazing film that is eye-catching with its fabulous fashion sensibilities and ear-pleasing with its engaging and dynamic soundtrack. This is a stunning film that sets up an intriguing world that holds your attention from start to finish. Emma Stone and Emma Thompson are incredible in their roles, chewing scenery and stealing the spotlight from each other back and forth. The last third of the movie is so heart-pumping intense I was genuinely surprised Disney allowed it. Stone and Thompson played it to the hilt. I could not stop grinning.

If this the future of Dianey Villain movies, I feel thrilled by the possibilities and optimistic.… Expand

If you know me you know 101 Dalmatians (the Disney 1961 animated film) is my favorite movie and Emma Stone is one of my favorite modern actresses. I've been excited; but nervous, to see this movie for the last 5 years since they announcedIf you know me you know 101 Dalmatians (the Disney 1961 animated film) is my favorite movie and Emma Stone is one of my favorite modern actresses. I've been excited; but nervous, to see this movie for the last 5 years since they announced Emma Stone as Cruella. Was it worth the wait? 100% Yes! Simply put, I was blown away! There were plot twists that made my jaw drop and I was on the edge of my seat and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. My friend Bethany commented on my expressions during the movie. (By the way, make sure you stay for the mid-credit scene).

The movie is a prequel to the live-action 1990's 101 Dalmatians and the mid-credit scene sets it up nicely. The movie is set in the 1960/70's. You first get introduced to Estella, a young girl who tries to be good. Like all children she is not perfect; however, Estella tries to please her single mother. Estella soon meets Horace and Jasper. They form a friendship, turned family and this is where the story truly begins. In this adaptation you will also meet Roger and Anita.

The acting was great. The dynamic between Emma Stone (Estella later Cruella) and Emma Thompson (The Baroness) are amazing. (The other cast are all great as well.) I have no complaints. Both Estella and The Baroness are hard-working, talented in the fashion field; but, you wanna stay on the good sides of these two ladies. The Baroness is Estella's cut-throat boss later turned nemesis. The Baroness is a rockstar in the fashion world and Estella's Idol. This brings me to the costuming.

The costuming has to win some awards. It was truly a work of art. As a guy who knows basically nothing about fashion it made me wish I did: because I felt like I would have appreciated it more. It was truly impressive especially the one scene with Cruella's train blowing in the wind. (When you see it you'll know what I mean!)

You know how the original 'Cruella' song says "to see her is to take a sudden chill' I did get a chill from Emma Stone a couple of times. Both these ladies were phenomenal! Speaking of the original song let me talk about the music.

The soundtrack has all 70's songs. Most of these songs aren't huge hits but not obscure songs either most of the songs you will know. Many of the songs chosen are not originals but remakes. There are some original songs in the film as well. Band 'Florence and the Machine' has a song titled "Call Me Cruella".

The music was used to convey a lot of emotion and used very well for the dark cinematography which starts out in black and white. Which is perfect! It is PG-13 I wouldn't recommend for children because it is a bit dark.

How does Emma Stone compare to Glenn Close? I'm not sure! Emma Stone is supposed to be the same version that leads into Glenn Close. As I'm writing this I'm watching Glenn Close to compare and I can't. I think they are both great!

What else can I say? This is definitely a woman empowerment movie. You may feel a little sad for Cruella; yet, you will still think she is evil! You will admire Estella for her hard work. It is over 2 hours and is much better than 2014's Maleficent. Lastly, I highly recommend this film! On a scale of 1 to 10 I definitely give it a 9.5.… Expand

Cruella is a stylish movie with stunning costume design and make-up. I think this aspect absolutely Oscar-worthy, no doubt. The story itself is so Disney-ish and ehm, well, kinda predictable too, and we didn't get specific answer why CruellaCruella is a stylish movie with stunning costume design and make-up. This movie is brilliant!
First of all, I'm not the type of person that writes reviews, but I needed to share my thoughts on Cruella. This movie has a lot of to live up to, after all, we're talking about one of the biggest villans in history,This movie is brilliant!
First of all, I'm not the type of person that writes reviews, but I needed to share my thoughts on Cruella. This movie has a lot of to live up to, after all, we're talking about one of the biggest villans in history, and the best part of the film is that we can finally see the human side of Cruella. Emma Stone looks stunning from the begining to the ending, she is and incredible actress and was the perfect choice to bring Cruella to life.
The BEST point of the movie is the costumes. Everything is so beautifully done, congrats on Jenny Beavan for the amazing job, the choice for the movie to be set in 70's London was perfect, the epicenter of fashion at that time really made a difference in the costume desing. Every costume is amazing, there are no better words to discribe them.
The story is very unpredictable, there's always a twist, and that's keep us so entertained, keeping us always in that feeling of tension and exicitement. I've found a lot of references to The Devil Wears Prada and Ocean's 8, both great movies like this one. It's so cool to finally see Cruella's good and bad sides, what happened for each trade of personlity beetween Estella and Cruella, how they can be so different and so equal at the same time. Another thing that's important to say in this review is that I was questining myself about how they would put that rivalry beetween Cruella and the dalmatians in this movie, and It was amazingly well done, they didn't transform the main caracther in a monster that kills puppys and uses it skins to craft clothes. PLEASE watch this movie, you'll fall in love with this caracther and it's story.

PSA. After watching, please listen to I Did Something Bad by Taylor Swift, this song really reminded me of Cruella's story.… Expand

Rollicking ; engaging screenplay ,good direction and music and costumes of this movie is amusing .

"Style over substance" isn't an often encouraged approach for me when it comes to the craft of filmmaking. Who would've thought I'd welcome it within the realm of Disney's steadily declining library of "live-action remake/prequels." Cutaways,"Style over substance" isn't an often encouraged approach for me when it comes to the craft of filmmaking. Who would've thought I'd welcome it within the realm of Disney's steadily declining library of "live-action remake/prequels." Cutaways, needle drops and montage sequences? Theft, grifting and murder (and implied infanticide, at that)? In my good, Christian, four-quadrant family picture? Disney's made it pretty well known that they're far from feeling shame in churning out safe and diluted reinterpretations of the items in their catalog of intellectual property. Every once in a while, though, you get a "Christopher Robin," a movie that slips through the corporate cracks and leaves more discerning cinema goers shocked with how much of a swing it ends up being. "Cruella" is that kind of movie and then some. Imperfect, but a welcomed change of pace with a damn discernable personality and tone about it. No idea where the hell they plan on going with this property -- or if they do at all -- but if it ends up being as fun as this, I'll gladly show up again.… Expand

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this movie. The characters are portrayed very well, you believe their stories right away. And music, oh God, how nicely done the music in this movie! Both Emmas are doing great job of acting,I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this movie. The characters are portrayed very well, you believe their stories right away. I Just watched this movie and it is by far the best movie I have ever seen in 2021. The story, the writing, the actors were 10's across the board. The fashion, The acting, The Attitude and The music is also 10/10. If you are ever in the moodI Just watched this movie and it is by far the best movie I have ever seen in 2021. The story, the writing, the actors were 10's across the board. The fashion, The acting, The Attitude and The music is also 10/10. If you are ever in the mood to feel like a bad b**ch, this movie fully embodies it. Emma stone was meant to play cruella and she embodied her perfectly.

Watching the movie, the background story on cruella explains a lot on how her behavior is currently. Can't deny as well that cruella embodies everyone who is hungry for power and fame. Its also very funny. The directors make sure not to make in every scene funny but funny at the correct moments.

Another thing I love was the high fashion. The choice to play the movie cruella during 1970's/80's london was a very good choice, not to mention the fact that during that time fashion was really high couture. (compared to now, but has its moments).

Now if there are any negatives. To be honest, i found not much negatives. Tho i did feel the ending was missing something but that could just be me. Another thing is of course the dead parent. But considering the fact that cruella joins other orphans and becomes a band of thieves makes you forget that her mom died. Of course with her mentioning her a few times but it doesn't take over the whole movie

Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this movie. Again, if your feeling like a bad b**ch? Watch this movie. If you're a fashion lover? Watch this movie. If your a disney fan and want something other than singing people and crying and depression and seeing something opposite? Watch this movie. Or if your in the mood of watching two iconic actresses (Emma Stone and Emma Thompson) and watch them lock horns and have a fashion cat fight? Watch this movie.

My rating? Out of 10? 11/10.… Expand

This is a good movie to watch with the family, and a nice backstory of an underrated villian, i would recommend this movie and I could watch it again!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In Cruella there are memorable scenes where Cruella puts on a show for the public to take the attention from The Baroness and draw the press and public to her .

The blend of the soundtrack along with the beautiful clothing made this movie really shine . It is very clear they put in a lot of effort in clothing Cruella herself and even the other characters such as The Baroness .

Emma Stone did a wonderful job portraying Estella and Cruella . She came off as awkward and meek as Estella . She was cruel , brash and rash as Cruella .

Emma Thompson easily takes the cake for best acting as the villan in this film .

She consistently was able to pull off her nasty and rude attitude as The Baroness .

Emma Thompson was neither underwhelming or overwhelming in her portrayal for The Baroness .

She felt threatening and didn't feel as corny as most villans .

The actors portraying Horace and Jaspar brought out the more grounded moments . But the story only shows them to be thieves and nothing much else is shown about them .

However the transition from Estella to becoming Cruella was somewhat disappointing .

It was so sudden , the development was too quick for it to be enjoyed .

Estella in her anger of discovering the Baroness killed her not original "mom," becomes Cruella by changing her looks and the way she acts too fast . The build up was somewhat lacking .

It felt rushed and it betrayed the character development for Cruella .

The thievery was fun to watch . There are multiple scenes where the gang of thieves including Estella/Cruella , Horace and Jasper utilize their skills for stealing . Pets are also adorably used as well in the act . The movie really shines in the last half of the film . The plot starts to thicken and as the intensity it builds up to the final moment of reveal on who is the worst person out of Estella/Cruella and her mother in the showdown between them .

Though , they did apparently alter the original Cruella's attitude . Originally Cruella was known to make coats out of Dalmatians but in this film she doesn't . So there are changes to Cruella herself and that could possibly disappoint future audiences .

If your willing to take the time and just enjoy the film , this film is a great film in its own ways .… Expand

I loved this movie. 101 Dalmatians was my favorite movie growing up. There is such great queer representation and so many great call backs to the original movie!

Cruella is no exception, taking us on a painful winding journey of a young girl lost in the world, struggling with her inner demon and trying to choose a path in life. The question of nurture versus nature is explored deeply in this absolutely brilliant movie. Emma Stone was born for this role. She displays incredible depth and range, a woman struggling with her involuntary past at the edge of controlled madness. Emma Thompson as usual plays her role flawlessly, giving a chilling portrayal of mental illness. Mark Strong of course delivers a calm, reassuring rock of strength in an ocean of chaos. The casting of this movie is brilliant. The fashion aesthetics of this movie are truly exemplary. Every single outfit and ensemble is classy and well placed for the period and the moment. I did not think there would be a worthy successor to ‘The Devil wears Prada’ but here we are. Hilarious moments and hijinks, and the constant battle of stealing the spotlight in crafty, shocking ways, keeps this pretty long movie clipping along. The soundtrack selection was spot on, each song was well placed for the era and scene. Immersing Cruella’s journey in the glorious decades of London life from the 60’s onwards, especially the punk era, adds a genuine anchor to the tale. Even though the after credits scene seems to imply a direct transition to beloved cartoons of yore, I would venture to say we should have a sequel within this microcosm.… Expand

Pretty cool concept and surprises, the set decoration, production and costume are just perfect, both Emmas give amazing performances. I want a sequel with an even more evil Cruella.

Even though it can be felt a bit long, "Cruella" is this campy-devil wears Prada alike meets Westwood and Dior with a good rewrite of this beloved villain. Para mi, estuvo increíble. Esperaba muchísimo esta película pese a que en un principio no me atraía en lo absoluto, pero el resultado final es magnífico, la duración puede resultar poco atractiva para ser una película de Disney, pero créanme, es necesaria que sea larga ya que de lo contrario se sentiría incompleta, el primer golpe lo da la banda sonora, atractiva y mágica, luego están los personajes, histriónicos, carismáticos y bien desarrollados en el caso de Cruella y La Baronesa, las actuaciones de Emma Stone y Emma Thompson son el punto mas fuerte, se nota la química entre ambas así como la espontaneidad en la naturaleza de sus respectivos personajes, o sea, no se sienten forzados o sobreactuados en ningún momento, otro punto muy notable es la escenografía y los fabulosos vestuarios, en fin, me encantó y la volveré a ver sin duda alguna.… Expand
