The Cruella in this movie is NOT the same character as the one in 101 Dalmatians- not even close.

Oh, and let's not forget this movie is filled with the same array of issues as all their other live adaptations. **** writing, **** casting, **** pacing. At least the visual style and costume design are decent-good-ish. So there's that, at least.… Expand

The movie is a series of music video clips /action sequences sprinkled with dialog. Cheap thrills and self-gratifying plot aside, it does have some good performances.

Disney has fallen from the top. They're making bad movies all the time , because they have clearly lost the passion to make great movies. It's all about messaging and if it's not harmful for the kiddies. Even though these messages are moreDisney has fallen from the top. It's just like they throw a bunch of money against it and think it will be fine: Insert ideology, make it look flashy with a bunch of CGI, hire celebrities and that's about it really. Oh and clearly these reviews aren't rigged. Can't put a negative review on here without trying 100 times and the signup for Disney + advertisement on the top of this page is reaaaally subtle. They definitely didn't pay for that.… Expand

A laughable attempt to make an evil character relateable, through some of the most idiotic contrivances. Too much hype for nothing. I've been hyped for this since it was announced and I'm very disappointed. Better save your time and money.

The movie tries too hard (clearly with awards in mind), the plot is awful and boring. Sadly the movie is supposed to be about Cruella but could be about any other character who wants to be a fashion designer with no cares for the law, the writers apparently don't know much about the title character. I think the good reviews are not objective thanks to the good cast.

The only good thing worth noting apart from the good cast is the stunning costume design.

I have to add I wouldn't recommend this movie for kids because in the end it sends kids the wrong message.… Expand

Just watched this movie along others today and let me tell you, not my wife or me were liking this crap.

Aline Brosh McKenna's story is a prequel to her hit film "The Devil Wears Parada". Wait, what? Um, prequel to "101 Dalmatians".

The 'big surprise' is something you will already have figured out much earlier in the film.
It takes swipes at the evil male patriarchy while ignoring that the whole movie is about an evil white matriarchy.
Some expected race swapping of characters. Trite music selections from the period.
Oh, and Pongo and Perdita are now brother and sister.
Nothing like a little incest fun from Disney.
The studio obviously has people padding the User Review Scores.

Another trash fire of writing hiding under a crap ton of money thrown at the screen. People that don't think about what they watch will probably love it for the visuals. Everyone else well.... maybe you can laugh at it if you ignore the stupidity.

I’m giving it a three because I like Emma but this movie is so bad and boring. They tried so hard to make the dogs out to be the bad guys. Not to mention cheesy writing cruella had a love interest in her sidekick? Odd

"Cruella" bounces back and forth between goofy heist moments and "serious" moments so frequently and jarringly that ultimately all of the moments come across as comedic. Is this movie for kids? The creators of the movie don't even know. CGI is inexplicably used for some dogs in the movie (but not others?). I will admit that the costumes were well done. If only more focus was given to the script. Most charcters are archetypes defined by one personality trait, character motivations are weak at best, the dialogue is by-the-numbers, and the only surprising moments in the story either undermine the rest of the story or just feel completely unbelievable. There is a plot twist I will not spoil that is eye-rolling to say the least. All these faults would be more tolerable if the movie was not so darn long. The story of this movie did not need 2 hours to tell. And the majority of those 2 hours is saturated with unnecessary voice over (often explaining what is already obvious visually) and pop music. I liked the soundtrack but the movie relied on it too heavily and did not usually integrate it with the visuals effectively. I can't really recommend this movie to anybody. Emma Stone tried her best to salvage this disaster but was cringe-worthy to be honest.… Expand

Unforgivable misuse of Emma's talent. Unfunny, mostly boring story. Looks like low budget production. Most scenes do not make sense. It tries to be cool and funny, yet it lands in cringe territory.

so many unanswered questions, biggest one was what was the reason she skins puppies? Even if the reason was the dogs, it seems so forced and petty, and this movie is a joker wannabe movie that this became a typical hero movie. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very underwhelming feature. If the plot manages to gather many interesting pieces of stories and clues for its future development it all still remains stereotypical, effortless and terribly reductive.

Disney here missed a huge opportunity to create a passionate and exciting background for one of his most misunderstood and unidimensional villains. In the end the unidimensional taste remains powerful. Despite many major (and quite unpredictable) turns of events the movies loses itself in its own narrative and we end up with a black and white Harley Quinn-esque character. The other charcters are just bland: from the naughty (step)mother archetype to the underling who changes sides when the wind starts to change and passing by the traditional tasteless friends of trouble combined with some sparks of magic and misunderstandings.

The pace is jerky, the soundtrack consisting in reprises of major rock hits is terrific, the atmosphere is a success and the stagings are original. The problems come from all what remains: acting, writing, ending, scenario especially.… Expand
