It was funny, tear jerking, fun and clever. This movie touched on many factors as what happened in buddapesh and when loki told widow about killing a girl which made a tie in in this movie . A whole full circle which I always like in stories it gives the feeling that everything and everyone matters and does in fact have an impact in the future, I give this movie a high 10/10 and 5 stars. Ever since I heard the possibility of Natasha's own solo movie, I was thrilled. And knowing the release date just added to the anticipation. I know a lot of us were worried that this movie wouldn't live up to our lofty expectations, but it absolutely exceeded them!

Black Widow was amusing, intense, and entertaining. It possesses its own gritty distinctiveness while appearing to blend in well with the rest of the MCU. Scarlett Johansson then delivered an outstanding performance. It truly saddens me that this will be her final appearance on the big screen as Natasha Romanoff. As for Florence Pugh, as Yelena, it was just chef's kiss. She gave her all to this charming character. I gonna love seeing Yelena more in the MCU. Not to mention Rachel Weisz and David Harbour. They were also fantastic on-screen, contributing to the family-like dynamic with Scarlett and Florence.

Overall, this is a film that everyone should see. It features an excellent soundtrack, CGI, and combat sequences. For the first time, I feel like I'm finally seeing a non-objectified portrayal of Natasha.

It’s perhaps one of the more serious and dialogue-heavy entries of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour and Rachel Weisz bear a convincing enough dynamic and carry a straightforward spy narrative with decent emotional depth. Per the Marvel norm, the action delivers plentiful fast-paced thrills and the film isn’t short of comedic relief, often poking fun at old Marvel character tropes and allowing David Harbor to get absolutely lost in his role; he’s rather delightful and I hope to see more of him in later media. The villains are pretty forgettable, though, and I felt the relationship between the four main characters was a tad lacking. The first 15 minutes set an interesting and almost artful standard that hooked me immediately but it pretty much goes the formulaic comic book movie route after that point and it’s…good; I got to fully understand Natasha and receive some closure on her story, though I can’t help but note the missed opportunities. I think more flashbacks like the prologue would’ve helped cement an even stronger chemistry amongst the leads. We mostly just get a general idea of how they’re associated and then it’s your typical Marvel fare but it’s the performances overall that kept me invested. Black Widow may be far from top tier MCU but it’s a solid showcase that great acting can exist in superhero media, which is a notion that has long been doubted and dismissed. Expand

As a long timeI walked into this film not knowing anything about black widow or the avengers entirely, for I’ve never been a marvel fan; However this film was quite thrilling and I even saw it a second time around so here’s my verdict. As a long time cinema reviewer, action has never been my demographic but I decided to give this film a shot because I was a fan of a particular actor in the cast and I’m very glad I did. Black Widow was the perfect balance of action and comedy which many action films fail to produce leaving the audience feeling worn out. The cinematography was very captivating. Florence Pugh particularly was a highlight. She really nailed all her comedic moments while balancing out the characters journey and state. The audience I was with opening night really digged it too. The storyline it’s self was quite interesting and did what so far to many movies failed to do this year, be unpredictable. The score set such an atmosphere and I enjoyed the costuming, especially Yelena’s vest. This was the first 4DX movie I’ve seen yet and I really think it’s going to be the future of cinema. Expand

The most overdue MCU movie of all hit the screens today, with Scarlett Johansson finally getting her standalone film in the terrific 'Black Widow'.

In the aftermath of the events of Captain America: Civil War, we catch our favorite femme fatale on the run and facing enemies old and new with both the US government and the Russian Red Room on her tail.

Florence Pugh is introduced as the heir-apparent to the seemingly irreplaceable Natasha Romanoff, but carries herself with grace, poise and immense likeability. Her chemistry with Johansson is electric and makes you buy into the sisters' journey and shared pain easily.

David Harbour is incredible as the 'Red Guardian'', the weathered the former Russian counterpart to Captain America. Rachel Weisz and him are spot on as the parental figures, essaying the pain and suffering they have undergone with authenticity and realism. Ray Winstone is his icy, brutish best as the main antagonist.

The key standout element of the film was the excellently choreographed hand-to-hand combat sequences, really raising the level of Marvel movies to Bourne-esque realms.

Watch out for not one but two surprise guest appearances that not only tie into the upcoming MCU films but also continue the intricate world-building happening through the Disney+ series' Loki, TFATWS and Wanda Vision.

Black Widow is a Natasha Romanoff show through and through, a fitting tribute to a founding Avenger and a role that has been portrayed with such perfection by Scarlett Johansson for over a decade now.

Highly recommended! Marvel's first movie of 2021 is a surefire blockbuster!

Taking place between Civil War & Infinity War, the Widow finds herself in p[lunged into her sister’s business, played by recent Oscar nominee Florence Pugh, another former member of the Black Widows (an elite, clandestine killsquad consisting of women who have been betrayed by life in some form or another) who has been freed by a vial of red mist which breaks the choke-hold their controller, played by Ray Winstone, has on them so when Pugh gains a packet of these vials, she mails it to ScarJo’s current safehouse which activates the Taskmaster, a fighter who can mimic another’s moves (seen at first cramming her moves via TV) which Scarjo escapes w/the goods reuniting w/her long lost sister (not her actual sister or family for that matter as evidenced by the opening prologue) who both resolve to take out Winstone (w/added help from their pseudo ma & pa, played by Rachel Weisz & David Harbour) as they track down his elusive lair. A solid actioner (some have opined it feels like Captain America: The Winter Soldier lite) which feels more of an obligation than something organic still manages to entertain beside itself since the only MCU product that’s been seen has been the Disney + offerings so anything on the big black screen would be viewed almost as a rite of release than anything else. Pugh & Harvour manage to steal almost every scene they’re in while Scarjo’s cutaways have a ‘this is my family’ shrug to them but being this is essentially a sacrificial lamb for the Mouse House to see how their big performers will do in our current Covid nation, we could do worse (live-action Mulan, anyone?). William Hurt returns again playing ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross & Olga Kurylenko (from Quantum of Solace & the misbegotten big screen Max Payne) plays the Taskmaster. Expand

Even the special FX took a dive for a Marvel film. At one point the special FX looked so silly I laughed out loud. It seems they ran out of money while filming an extravagant CGI scene and it was lowered to the standard of mega shark syfy movie quality. Even if the FX were consistent and perfect the movie only contained about 30 minutes of actual meaningful story and action, the rest of it was long drawn out filler. Was it to kill time? Was it bad editing? Was it trying to be like Tarantino? The tone wasn't right. Despite being well acted, the script sucked big time and mad NO SENSE. It was the most illogical trash garbage script in a Marvel movie to date. It made as much sense as a SNL sketch would. Was it written by an 8 year old girl who doesn't actually know how anything in life works? It's like Fast and the Furious stupid. And it was about as anti-male as you can get. Complete sexist man-hating garbage. It's so sexist that the only equivalent wouldn't be a bond film but a "bikini girls in space" movie where all the girls are just dumb or evil and nothing but men are in the movie to do anything good. TRASH. The answer to the patriarchy is not a matriarchy. The answer to anti-female sexism is not anti-male sexism. The answer to stereotypes that dehumanize and marginalize women is not a bunch of stereotypes that dehumanize and marginalize men. Every single male in this film was evil, or dumb. There is literally only 5 male characters in the movie and 1) was the "bad guy" antagonist thunderbolt ross, 2) the failure "bad dad"/dumb comic relief red guardian, 3) the whimpy beta male cuckold that exhausts all of his resources, time, and energy to help Black widow while being stuck in the friend zone, with no shred of actual thanks, just simple female usury like we see today running rampant, 4) The main villain, "evil patriarch" ,bad guy, who hits women, and says outlandishly unrealistic BS that only a male exploitation driven script could conjure like "Women are the worlds most expendable natural resource". 5) An finally avenger is mentioned, but only in reference to needing to KILL him. This has gone the wrong way. The same BS with that all female ghostbusters movie. It's not subtle, it's not fair, it's not equal, it's not realistic, it's not logical, it's not accurate. It's heavy handed, preachy, and unrealistic to no end. Even if it wasn't a sexist anti-male garbage parade it wouldn't be very good because whoever wrote it STINKS, and the director and editor can eat rocks too because they waste everyone's time with meaningless fluff and filler that has nothing to do with anything. And I have no idea if it's women who wrote and directed this or not, that would be funny, but it don't matter. It's just NOT GOOD. Expand

The pre-infinity war era and not the origin but the plot around red-room was awesome, the whole family dynamic and the relationship overall was sweet specially the reunion was amazing and the ending moments of them together was sweet, the budapest storyline was needed to be seen but it was dissapointment not to be shown although the action scenes and fights were awesome, the whole red room set-up at last was surprising and the task-master was good although she was little underused i wanted more of action and suspense but ok! Natasha's friend and tricks were brilliant, the ending was thrilling the natasha's twist and the fight in air although it was little but entertaining, the ross cameo and Natasha breaking the red-room and making way for yalena's part in future with her story connecting to infinty war at last with jet scene it was satisfying and above that the post-credits was shockingly awesome,Overall the family dyanmics were emotionally sweet and the action was mind-blowing although decent plot and the whole run time was amazingly handled with plot, refernces, humour and family stuff making it awesomely fast-paced and entertaining movie!

Scarlett did an amazing job in her last role as Black Widow. But, Pugh stole the show. Pugh was absolutely brilliant in her role. Rachel Weisz was excellent as well. Loved the dinner table scene! David Harbour was very funny and enjoyable. William Hurt continues to not disappoint as the infamous Thunderbolt Ross. The post-credits, through it was originally suppose to occur before "Falcon & Winter Solider" still worked very well and it doesn't confuse the audience (at least those who already watched F&WS). Scarlett did an amazing job in her tenue with the MCU. She will be missed, but Pugh showed that she's more than ready to take up the mantle in future MCU projects. Criticisms: 1. I think Taskmaster could had been utilized better. The concept behind Taskmaster's presence in the film was fine, but I think the film should had given a few minutes to Taskmaster's character development. 2. Some things within the film felt rushed, but that's ok since those who are well up to date with the MCU knows about Johansson's character and can let the rush slide. 3. While this film was well worth the wait and the delays, the Black Widow stand alone film in my opinion should had came much sooner, and should had been part of the Infinity Saga (Phase 3 to be precise) timeline instead of having it be the Phase 4 opener. The actions scenes were excellent. And the overall narrative of the film is very relatable from a philosophical, psychological, and institutional lens. Anyone who has held the gender biased assumption that a majority female cast and a female lead couldn't deliver an exciting and great action film should be quiet. Black Widow proves beyond anymore ridiculous doubt among with "Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel" that a female lead in an action flick most definitely can deliver. Along with the fact that this film had an over 90% female cast. Too bad we endured a pandemic. Because this film would had easily earned a billion in the box office. But, no doubt Black Widow will earn way more past it's 200 million budget. So, Disney should be able to rest easy in this investment. Finally, it's clear so far in Phase 4 that Marvel isn't losing any steps. "WandaVision", "Falcon & Winter Solider", "Loki", and now this film has all delivered magnificently. The quality of Marvel Studios films continues to surpass expectations of excellent story telling, and making the films very, very relatable to the public. It makes any fan anxiously anticipating "Shang-Chi", "Eternals", "Spiderman- No Way Home", The Dr. Strange, Thor, Antman, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Black Panther sequels. Along with the Disney+ shows: "She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, "Secret Invasion", "Ironheart", "Armor Wars", and "Hawkeye", and "What If?". And oh course- hopefully the next Fantastic Four will finally get it right since Disney acquired it when it bought Fox. Great film and it looks Marvel is getting better and better! Expand

Next Marvel I'll be Seeing In Theaters is Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, In Theaters September 3rd, 2021!!! LETS GOOOOO! Expand

Marvel really did Natasha Romanoff dirty. This movie was so pointless now that Natasha is dead.

Pro tip- But don’t make a movie off a character who is dead because then the movie feels pointless.

Really enjoyable! A bit darker, grittier, and more action-heavy than typical Marvel fare. It's great to see Black Widow finally get a solo movie (as much as I wish she would have gotten one back in Phase 1). Also surprisingly funny - YelenaReally enjoyable! Also surprisingly funny - Yelena steals many of the scenes with her dry wit. Overall, a refreshing break from the usual origin-story-focused Marvel solo films (although this one does answer some questions about Natasha's past), and a solid action flick by itself. Expand

It is really good , really epic , really superb . I really appreciate and enjoyed this movie . Thanks Marvel Studios , I am a big fan of your movies , and what to say about Scarlett Johansson ( not because of her beauty ) her acting was really great . And not mention about Florence Pugh's character Yelena Belova , she is winning the hearts of marvel fans and she is shining now . Her acting was so good that it show her love and affection for her sister Natasha . Love you Florence Pugh . Love you Scarlett Johansson very much ♥️ and lots of love from me to Marvel Studios . All the actors played their role greatly . I appreciate them very much . Expand

Florence Pugh steals just about every scene she’s in and has a VERY bright future in the MCU and otherwise. David Harbour is having a ball as the boisterous and goofy Red Guardian. Villain isn’t fantastic but the overall plot is pretty compelling. Basically a very strong sisterly/family love film with lots of strong action. Fight scenes are very good and actually very grounded for the most part. Not the MCU’s best outing but a strong movie nonetheless. Expand

I just completely wasted 15$ watching this movie, terrible and pointless movie. Marvel has really gone downhill after Infinity War. But then came NWH.
