Disney have insert kids character in the recent marvel films, not to be some common kids but become independent and annoying superheroes. Marvel realy dies after Avengers : Endgame. They just realy want to show the ending of this film to make stepping stone to another avengers arc wthout building good plot, storyline and script. How the hell the amateur family members could lead seasoned rebels to launch rebellion against so called powerful conqueror. There is no enough background story about how kang would able to build such a big n massive empire singlehandlely. Kids would love this but not adult. Expand

Ant-man and the Wasp is a series of plot contrivances, plot holes, poor-to-cringe dialogue and Spy Kids level cgi. I am truly shocked that people are trying to defend this with a straight face. What a waste of a decent cast.

This movie is bad, it can't be defended by any side, the entrance to phase 5 feels poor and even more with those horrible dialogues and special effects.
The villain if saved in this movie, although his motivations do not transcend.

I massively enjoyed the first one but found the second one to be quite forgettable. I loved the idea of smaller stake stories for Ant-Man films. It was a little surprising to hear that Ant-Man 3 would have bigger stakes as I didn't find this to suit the character. Is this a good entry for the little guy or quantum garbage?

The greatest highlight of this film is the antagonist, Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors. Kang is fearsome and menacing with a terrific performance by Jonathan that reminds me of Darth Vader. He steals the show in every scene, to the point that I was actually rooting for him. I am also glad that his performance is vastly different to the variant we saw in the Loki (2021) show. I can't wait to see more of Kang in the future! In terms of performance, I also enjoyed seeing more of Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne. She was barely in the second Ant-Man film but here she is front and centre. She shines in her performance and perfectly illustrates the guilt and fear her character is experiencing. Paul Rudd is still charming and charismatic as Scott Lang. His relationship with his daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) is still the main core of his character. We get to see 'some' serious moments with his character which was nice to see.

Another thing I liked was the overall design of the Quantum Realm. The world and the living beings in the Quantum Realm were interesting. It had a very Star Wars/Mad Max feel to it with the blend of sci-fi, deserts and alien-like creatures. The 3rd act of the movie is also quite entertaining. For the most part, it's a giant CGI battle with lots of things happening on screen but it is fun to watch. I especially loved seeing Kang in action because we get to see how much of a beast he is compared to previous villains. However, the writing is very weak. There are a lot of silly dialogues that just made me roll my eyes. It doesn't help that for some reason Marvel is still doing forced unnecessary humour. If this story is meant to be higher stakes then make it serious! The quips get overly repetitive. The first half is a little dull too with minimal interesting things happening. It doesn't take until over halfway through the movie to actually see Kang. Additionally, the ending was disappointing. It is very bland and safe which is a shame as this film could've delivered a shocking and memorable ending. This movie is also meant to build up hype for the next Avengers film but that ending fails to do even that. MODOK is also in this film and it is a pointless addition. Not only do they change the character completely from their comic counterpart, but their role in the story is also absolutely irrelevant. Could take them out of the story and nothing will change. Despite the film being called Ant-Man and the Wasp, both Scott Lang and Hope feel like side characters in their own film. They have no character development and are just kind of there for the ride. Janet is more of a main character than them. I also don't like this trend in these recent Marvel films of Marvel characters looking out for these young characters. Cassie is the next in this trend and is also an annoying character like many of them before. I think Kathryn Newton is fine in her role but her character just isn't written well to be likeable enough for me to care. This is also a very CGI-heavy film and for the most part, it is okay but there are definitely times when it looks rough. The editing, especially during action sequences, can be really bad. They tend to do too many quick cuts during action sequences and for some reason use the shaky cam in 2023!

Overall, Ant-Man 3 is a bit disappointing. There was a lot of potential for this to be something great but the execution is quite poor. This isn't a great start to Phase 5 and I am getting worried about the future of the MCU. They need to do a better job at making people hyped for the next Avengers-level threat as this film isn't making me think this is a threat equal to or better than Thanos. I'm hoping future Marvel films start building up this new threat because they need to show us that this new threat is worthy of our attention.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So, in my opinion, the best Marvel movies so far have always been the ones that don’t take themselves too seriously - but Antman 3 kinda fails to do that. It tries very hard to deliver a big epic finale to the Antman trilogy, but given the recent introduction of the Multiverse in the MCU, the stakes have never felt lower; and they were already pretty low, since this is HOLLYWOOD BABY and no one can die, unless the merchandise stops selling! It tries to be fun and different, but fails most of the time; mostly due to some seriously cheesy jokes, terrible performances, an over-reliance on CGI and one of the most by-the-number scores of any Marvel movie ever. Not even the most ridiculous movie villain in history, Modok, manages to leave any kind of impression. It felt mostly like a mediocre 90s sci-fi movie, with a very conveluted, boring plot, and waaaaaaaaaaay too much subpar visual effects (especially Modok, who looks nothing like the actor he’s supposed to resemble).
Kang The Conqueror returns from Loki and delivers the best performance of the cast, but that’s not saying much. His character is still explained poorly, and especially his end-credits scene was cringe worthy. He makes for a much less intimidating foe than Thanos did, in the previous saga of movies, and even though I’ve read a fair amount of comics, I still have no idea what he’s trying to do in the MCU, or why he’s doing it. Not even Gregg Turkington’s cameo or the tie-in to his fake movie review show “Gregg Turkington’s Our Cinema At The Cinema Starring Tim Tiedecker”, can save this mess of a movie. The best parts are a couple of silly creature designs + the few scenes that wasn’t filmed in front of a blue screen; here, the actors feel more comfortable (maybe because they actually have an idea about what’s going on).

Worst part of the movie though, is how it completely fails to utilize it’s main characters and their powers; the shrinking/supersizing. There are a few scenes with it here and there, but it’s used inconsistently and doesn’t introduce any new cool ideas into the action, like the previous movies managed to do.
Sure, there are some kaiju-like fight sequences and a couple of big ants, but at this point, we’ve seen it all before. The steam is really running out of the Marvel engine, and Antman 3 is another nail in this slowly sinking coffin.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie is not as good as i accept, they didn't plot the character of kang properly, post credit scene doesn't match any reference that can be expected in future, i personally go to watch kang not ant man so, ya this is antman movie so any how he has to win in the end but Marvel needed to understand they can't sell so typical story in near future, i mean why even kang bother to kill jannet when he see her Fu*k, they ruin my favourite villian, power of kang are not explained properly, one time he use time to stop jannet but at other time he is using hand to hand fight with antman, in which antman being a thief show some real powerful punches to kang, which i think doesn't make any sense because kang is almost a Million year old guy how can someone like antman can puch him, he must had some really bad fight in past then how can ant man can even hit him, power of kang is ruined by writer I will recommend not to watch in theatre, waste of money, but one thing i like is Jonathan major role, he has done his job very properly, all my 5 rating is just for him
Thank you

All they have to doI don't know what it is, modern feminists or woke equity politics, but how do you do such a bad job with something so easy. The source material has already established a massive fan base, and the story is already written. All they have to do is transcribe it from book to screen, and you'd have the best show of the decade. It's so simple. You have to be a extremely bad writer/director/producer to make something so great so bad. It's also extremely unethical to take someone's life's work and change the source material with such disrespect. Then, just to make everything so much worse, you add on top of that fan baiting. Fan Baiting is done on purpose to not only stir up controversy for publicity but also serves as a barrier to real criticism and ensures that the show will succeed because if anyone has a different opinion, they will just be labeled as a "racist/sexist/transphobe/etc." and their opinion is ignored. It's a method to make everyone think you're virtuous when really you're just a horrible person spreading hate with anyone who has a different opinion than your own. You act like you're fighting fascism by spreading and using fascism. It's hypocrisy in action. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Slight spoilers ahead, but this movie is really not great especially when u put into context of the movie franchise it comes from, the expectations/hype put on this movie before it came out, and how it isn’t nearly as good as the other two Ant-Man movies (and they weren’t even that great). The special effects looks awful, the world building is non-existent, Kathryn Newton, Corey Stoll, Michell Pheiffer, Michael Douglas, and Bill Murray are all absolutely awful in this movie, and that’s really sad considering the latter 3 are Hollywood legends. Kathryn Newton specifically is REALLY bad and I don’t think anybody would be upset if they recast the actress. But the character of Cassie doesn’t make any goddamn sense either, she’s this super smart genius who can assemble a portal to the quantum realm, and has been practicing with her own suit this whole time; yet she doesn’t understand a single thing happening, her “genius” doesn’t get shown until that literal end of the movie where they just shoehorn it in. Really the only good stuff is Kang and Scott but the movie doesn’t focus on them and instead just wastes time barely giving us explanations for anything and just slapping “quantum” on it. Also Kang getting beat by Ants and his power scaling were incredibly stupid. As many have said one second he evaporates people and the next he can’t do the same to Team Antman (who are all human and not wearing Vibranium or anything). And because of that it makes him incredibly less intimidating of a villain and because instead of actually using the TWO HOURS of this movie to explain things about this Kang or hell any Kang in general, they dick around and just don’t do anything interesting. At the end of the day is this the worst movie ever? No. Is it the worst Marvel movie ever? No. But it’s definitely the most disappointing and visually unappealing movie for me. I really do want Phase 5 to be good but it seems like Marvel just doesn’t know how to come up with any good original ideas anymore. Also the MODOK thing is dumb af but tbh he’s the only thing that keeps me awake during this movie because of how much I wasn’t enjoying it, so if you think about it the movie would’ve been WORSE without MOCOCK, that’s really sad to think about. VERY well done effects. CONS: It didn't really feel like a movie, more like a reallllly long trailer for a movie.
Important side characters didn't get a explanation for backstory. Internal guideline to plot. (The character had time to argue with her family, but zero time to just say "A bad guy I trapped here is mad and trying to kill us.")

RANT: Dude, you built up the King character as conquerer of multiverses, destroyed timelines, then loses to a bunch of mech-ants?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story started with Antman being famous and even releasing his own book VERY ORIGINAL! Then Cassie ( Antman's daughter ) in less then 10 minutes from the start of the movie transported the whole family into the quantum realm. Apparently Janet ( Hope's Mum ) had this very extreme past and in this realm making the whole story more and more complicated. The amount of people's information was very unnecessary for the story. Finally after two hours watching this in 4d was a whole waste of money, the only thing that had potential is Cassie a girl with some good energy and personality. This is really disappointing for the marvel movies after all of this. Expand

This is the 3rd installment of the Ant-Man franchise with Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer returning. They end up in the quantum world where they encounter various weird creatures before running into the inevitable uber villain Kang (Jonathan Majors). All of the usual Marvel elements are present in a rather mundane package. The fight sequences lack any originality or even interesting staging. The production design features some cool creatures and environments, but they feel like references to the aforementioned Disney flick and the Avatar films. The one thing that usually helps set this series apart is Rudd's offhand comic charms, which are also in short supply this time. You may be getting the idea: This is a bland blend of superhero tropes that offers nothing new or exciting. Of course, stay thru the credits for multiple Kang encounters. [usr =1.5] Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie felt how can I say it, a trailer. It was exactly that a trailer for future movies. The previous ant man movies had decent amount of humour that kept the movie going especially the first one. In this movie the first half was good, kang build up was very well done but that's where the good stuff end in the second half the story felt very weird. Remember when you fight a boss and he is super strong and you unlock him as a playable character he sucks? Yea so Kang was a boss in first half and a playable character in the second. The massive build up a man who destroyed universes timeline built an empire and an army of thousands of man just to loose to ant man in a brawl and to few large ants? He literally killed thor in another timeline, the avengers too and here he was just made into a regular villain. He should have decimated ant man and that would have made the movie a whole lot more fun and a different ending rather then a usual marvel story telling. The fights were somewhat okay but were repetitive every time someone would be walked down the aisle with the soldiers they would get beaten up every time and it happened so many times. CGI wasn't great wasn't bad the fights CGI felt meh. Also the fact that the quantum relm just consisted of random species it all felt very weird ngl, like throwing whatever at the board and hoping it all sticks, like yes it supposed to give a different vibe but it did not. If it wasn't for Kang being a great villain and MODOK making me laugh because of how stupid he was this movie would be a 0. I don't know how someone from Disney watched this movie and said "Yep looks good to go". Marvel is somehow getting worse after they had a terrible phase 4. Expand

Positives: Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, and Paul Rudd are good and familiar. They carry the film. Good chemistry between the family and traditional love.

Critiques: Many people will praise Jonathan Majors, but I thought he either talked too slowly or overacted when he was trying to be threatening or angry. He's another generic MCU villain, not a Thanos-level threat. His acting isn't threatening...just the fact that he can and has many copies of himself throughout the multiverse.

-M. O. D. O. K. Fans will not be getting what they want from this character. He's a clowned punching bag and looks really bad with the CGI.

-Cassie is annoying, mouthy, spoiled, and whinny. She also got typical Hollywood political values and is a girl boss. She looks and acts like a typical Gen-Z Disney actress. All the characters think and say "She's amazing" of course.

-There is an underlying theme of a socialist revolution where they mock cops, help the rebels, fight the empire, and "burn it all down." There is even a line about ants being highly developed socialists and that we humans could learn from them.

Marvel at it's worst and judging by their latest run of Marvel movies that's saying something. It was so bad it was laughable and that wasn't the feeble attempts at comedy. The acting was wooden especially the unconvincing baddie. The story was the usual American teen flick style in a Marvel setting. It was a bad mix of Star wars Honey I shrunk the kids. A floating head that reminded me of Holly from Red Dwarf and Spaceballs.
We stayed for the end credits, stupidly, and saw the first one. We wish we didn't as it looks like it's setting up a franchise for Kang the Conqueror films. Help. We couldn't take another end credit scene and left.
Come on Marvel with all your money in the bank pay for some decent script writers, some actors with credibility and create a decent film. Or are we going to get a reboot of Horward the duck.

this is what start phase 5 with and get us excited for the next 10 years??
u have Michelle Pfeiffer catwoman herself wasting away in mediocre ant man movies, u have Michael Douglas who stop giving a s%@t a long time ago and u had Bill Murray who only appeared in the movie in less than a minute before being killed off, WHAT A WASTE OF HIS TIME, A WASTE OF SCREENTIME AND A WASTE OF HIS TALENT THAT COULD'VE BEEN USED ELSEWHERE LIKE IN A BETTER MOVIE. Michelle Pfeiffer's character subplot contradicts the second ant man movie and infinity war. yes, kang is such a threat that he gets defeated by abunch of ants in a matter of seconds. nothing is taken seriously everything is a gag. speaking of unfunny jokes Disney marvel continues to butcher legacy heroes and villains by sidelining ant man once again in his own solo trilogy and now downplaying what he did in endgame all for a cheap joke and bringing in modok in only for laughs instead of being an actual threat. how tf marvel's avengers did modok justice in a below average video game over a multimillion dollar budget Disney marvel film? one of the few things marvel's avengers game by crystal dynamics did right is showing how meaning and a threat he is to the heroes he nearly killed hulk and ms. marvel that game is soo trash and such a cash grab but i have to give credit where it's due the campaign story modok was a threat from beginning to end he broke up the avengers got Bruce banner to sellout the avengers for aim and blame theme selves for captain America's death. but in this movie is just Corey Stoll's face badly photoshopped and stretched out on a obj model that's not even rendered with "I'm not a dick" jokes. what a trash fire! this is the black widow of ant man movies awful plot twist terrible subplots and not a movie to kick off a new phase. what make matters worst is that the writer of this movie Jeff Loveness is also going to be writing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, expect NOTHING BUT FAILURE FOR YEARS TO COME!

MCU STANS WILL TRASH FOX MARVEL MOVIES BUT U KNOW WHAT THEY DON'T DO AND GET RIGHT THERRE'S NOT JOKES AT EVERY SCENE AND THEY DON'T TAKE AWAY THE TENSION, THE THREAT OF SID VILLAIN AND THE STORY. THE CGI LOOKS WORST THEN MOVIES THAT CAME FROM THE 90'S HOW DO U SCREW IT UP THIS BADLY. EPIC FAIL. u got ultraviolet (2006) looking like a masterpiece right now. LOL all the terrible films looks better just by comparison. superheroes are not supposed to be a comedy sure some are self aware like Deadpool and she-hulk - (the comic book version, NOT MCU TRASH), that's why they work bcuz they use it for an advantage, BUT IT'S NOT FOR EVERY SUPERHEROES AND ANT MAN CHARACTER IS A SERIOUS CHARACTER WHAT AN AWFUL TRILOGY AND A DISSERVICE TO THE CHARATER ITSELF.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie was not just poorly made, it was made disgustingly. I was looking forward to the beginning of the 5th phase, and then there was such a failure. The Kang army is not intimidating, with monotonous soldiers who cannot compete. The directors took the easy way out, deciding not to draw them out and making everyone the same. Remember the Outriders from the Avengers? Kang himself seemed like a child offended by the whole world, with a perpetually sad face that changed into outbursts of aggression. As an antagonist, he is already in the grave for me. It was a problem that was pulled out of thin air with bad, unconvincing acting.

The essence of the made-up problem is the incompleteness and stubbornness of Janet van Dyne. If Thanos was an inevitability, then Kang is a failed accident... Terrible!

Quantumborania
I've come fresh from watching this, and thankfully I'll probably forget this film in the next 24 hours.
Some of the worst cringe inducing dialogue that just made me laugh. The exchange between Cassie and Modok towards the end was plain embarrassing.
Kang is Thanos lite, he possess none of the gravitas and menace of him, and to build a whole saga around this character is terrible. How he is defeated at the end of the film is truly ridiculous.
The CGI on Modok is eye rollingly awful, I literally laughed out loud when I saw this abomination on the screen.
The end credits just bad, really bad. The first one made me laugh once more time, I won't spoil it for everyone but how did they think this was going to generate more interest on the whole Multiverse saga ??.
Terrible CGI overload, and an uninspired script makes for a cinema trip which is the equivalent of sucked out of an airlock into a void of cold dark space.

This one goes the opposite way: the Quantum realm is now a galaxy, far far away (yes, everything is star wars like over there), and Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly's roles is reduced to one liners. Paul Rudd is still, mostly, the heart of the movie, but the actress that portrays his daughter lacks any charisma, and her path from a little girl into the next super-hero is a bit unclear.

Michelle Pfeiffer and Jonathan Majors are the only interesting characters in the movie, although I'm still not sure what are Kang's motives.

It's not a terrible movie, and a two hours run time makes the chaos easier to digest, but at the end, pretty forgettable.

There are a lots of plot holes in this film and a lot that they just changed and presumed you wouldn't notice or will maybe explain it 3 years down the line with some ridiculous explanation. Tbh all these new films thor blackpanter doctor strange just make the old film shine even more. Some positives I didn't think the cgi was that terrible, we get to see hank as a hero again. However Evangeline Lilly was terrible not overly her fault for them cutting all her hair off making her look about 50 and then giving her lead screen time instead of Scott, found myself sighing alot when we had 3 sidekick actors at best trying to take the lead in the film. The Antman films have come to be known for comedic moments so when they pivoted to such a serious story with such a supposedly threatening and monumental bad guy, you expect a tone change, but then along comes a certain character and brings down the whole thing with absolutely pathetic humour and the worst looking special effects I've seen in years. This is on the level of Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut, or Jar Jar Binks. It's really bad.

Then there is the tropes that have become all too common for mcu movies at this point; large scale battle, cross cutting between individual characters, misplaced comedy... All detracts from at least one really powerful moment, that could have made the core of a fantastic movie, a moment when Scott regains his focus and works toward one goal rather than being drawn in all directions, that was very powerful.

This is just the latest MCU product though and exhibits the same issues that I have been starting to notice in the past few years. At this point it's hard to ignore and it's stifling any creativity and good storytelling. This may well be the last MCU movie I pay for.

Awful disservice to MODOK and Kang, and a blatant "family day" film.

This is the definition of the death of Hollywood.

A 2 hour Kang trailer, the CGI was not the worst I've ever seen but more consistently frustrating cause its in every shot of the movie. The Darren/MODOK stuff was ?????.

Disappointed. All these CGI background really made everyone nauseous. From now on, our family wouldn't watch a Marvel film. Boring and predictable superhero film.

He ordered a much darker, serious version that tested far better, but decided AFTER the movie was made that it primarily should be for the kiddies. So he did his usual butcher job with reshoots and turned a decent movie into this mess. Add to that a writer that does not have any idea what continuity is, and you have this disaster. No situations are dealt with logically. Everything is pure contrivance driven convenience. If you can shut 100% of your brain off, then this movie is for you. If you are not technically asleep, do not bother. As the first movie of Phase 5 this is a terrible sign. Expand
