Official Xbox MagazineSimply put, UFC is the most realistic fighting game ever. [Apr 2002, p.68]
-
A great playing and pretty game to look at. Yet, this game could have been so much more with the addition of a career mode.
-
An excellent, original fighting game that's especially fun for two players.
-
Bloodier dustups there are, and faster moving ones too, yet for those who like their streetfighting with style, UFC Tapout hits harder than a bare-knuckle jab to the kidney.
-
The fighters are scary-real looking, and they animate without hiccups and with perfect transitions. Facial expressions are also top notch.
-
Getting a quick tapout or countering a move and shoving your opponent's face in the ground got a yelp of joy out of me many times.
-
Those looking for a deeper fighting engine will be happy, as will those who didn't want their strategic fighter over-done.
-
Game InformerWhile Tapout didn't bandage the wounds of its predecessor, it's much better than a punch in the groin. [Mar 2002, p.84]
-
Boxing and wrestling games seem rather sedate compared to the brutish force of this game. But if you can get past the graphical violence, and enjoy the challenge of a controlled street fight that looks amazing, then you will probably enjoy this brawl.
-
Limited single-player depth, as well as a few other minor issues, keeps UFC from being truly great.
-
Despite these imperfections, though, UFC: Tapout still reigns victorious.
-
The submissions and grapples system is the best out there.
