The create a soldier mode that is dependent upon your skill with activities is a fresh spin to the player generated fighter, and the inclusion of RPG-esque elements take the rather tired elements from "Dynasty Warriors" and injects new blood into the genre.
-
Do not expect this to be a quick in-and-out type of game. The timer for the starting missions is 60 minutes, and you will use most of the that to work through the map and accomplish what you are tasked to do.
-
One thing's for sure though: Samurai Warriors has massive potential for refinement and improvement.
-
For what it is, it's the best in it's field, however this will divide gamers between those who love the frantic action, and those who just see the repetitive slice and dice – me? well I like it like my Japanese food – now and again and in small portions.
-
Cheat Code CentralThis is a game best enjoyed over time. I guarantee you'll get bored at some point if you try to cram it in over a day or two. Take it one level, one mode, and one character at a time and you'll be bound to reap the rewards that Samurai Warriors has to offer.
-
The new abilities, such as deflecting arrows, are a welcome addition, but what the series could really use is a combat system that involved more than pressing two buttons in random combinations, a system that has worked well for the previous games in the series but has finally become stale.
-
Play MagazineCentral gameplay is little more than repetitive button-mashing that grows old quickly. [Aug 2004, p.58]
