Great title, especially for a budget title. I'd highly recommend this one. Clean graphics, great gameplay, and excellent 5.1 surround. Far exceeded my expectations.

Not just a great adaption of the comic, but in its own right a fantastic third-person shooter that allows the player to be inventive and tackle each situation as he pleases. It stays challenging the whole way through thanks to the terrifyingly smart enemies (if you've played last year's Sniper Elite by the same developers, you'll see the same level of high quality AI here) Not just a great adaption of the comic, but in its own right a fantastic third-person shooter that allows the player to be inventive and tackle each situation as he pleases. It stays challenging the whole way through thanks to the terrifyingly smart enemies (if you've played last year's Sniper Elite by the same developers, you'll see the same level of high quality AI here) and killing them is always satisfying thanks to some meaty weaponry. No doubt one of the best shooters for the Xbox in recent years. Expand

Played PS2 version - nicely intuitive controls and some great fun to be had with "bio-chip" features. Can be a bit easy but never frustrating.

Wow, don't miss the opportunity to own this great sleeper hit! I had never heard of Rogue Trooper before as a comic or game up until close to its release. It adds to the fact that my fav color is Blue. He is one tough trooper and its a total blast to play, and its a great deal. Hope they will make another one. Go get it now! Expand

License source material done to perfection. Smooth, intuitive controls with excellent options for action and tactics (the sniper options are particularly excellent and popping the guy's air tank is particularly satisfying!). The opponents do their best to take you down too, so you've got to be on your toes at all times. The ONLy thing that stops this being a solid License source material done to perfection. It's hard to believe how long it took for this game to be discovered. I had a hard time deciding if this game is a 7/10, a very enjoyable game or an 8/10, the start of where I place must play or own games. After a lot of consideration I put it at 8/10. I had a hard time deciding if this game is a 7/10, a very enjoyable game or an 8/10, the start of where I place must play or own games. After a lot of consideration I put it at 8/10. The first thing is it's a very fun game and well designed with no bugs. It has a variety of ways to play the game and it gives you the ability to constantly pick your gear at hand during the game. You can play all out gunning, you can snipe and you can stealth it although it's not a strong game in that respect. Still, it allows different strategies and always gives a choice to the player. The game has, in my opinion, missions just the right length and the gameplay can be played fairly open for a linear game. You also have the ability to double back to areas within a mission. The graphics may have been dull at release however with my component cables I'm pretty pleased and the sound seems reasonable. There is a bit of spoon feeding to learn to play I found the tutorial proceeding up to the 3rd of 13 total missions, which if you check reviews here most players feel the controls were intuitive, and this is likely the reason why. I really thought the way they handled ammo in this game made the game. Not too much, not limiting either, but always making the player decide in the moment how to go about things without locking you into a regretful upgrade choice. Many players say this game is too short, and perhaps it is, but it is short and sweet enough to try a different strategy for each area next game, or maybe just try a higher difficulty. I didn't find any reason to think I didn't get fair value for the cost of the game. My only gripe with the game is that I actually felt the controls could have been better (I slightly disagree with other players). At times I felt annoyed and frustrated that you could only toggle either weapons or grenades and not both at the same time more effectively. Same with being in zoom it would have been handy to have an automatic loss of zoom while you chose the need to reload or change loadouts. This however is not gamebreaking but I think one area that could have been improved. That said this game was made 2006 and for that time period this game goes way above average and is in my must keep pile, and the reason I gave an 8/10 score. It just begs me to play it again even despite its age and how many fantastic games are on the market. One other thing is that this game in many respect seems like it was a game borderlands may have been inspired by, or made by some of the same designers. It's cartooned, gives a lot of variety and if I'm not mistaken, isn't that claptraps voice in there too?... Expand

Rogue Trooper tries to be a competant third-person action game with attitude, but it ultimately fails. [June 2006, p.74]
  2. Rogue Trooper doesn't approach the inventiveness of a great budget TPS like last year's "Raze's Hell," but it's priced to move.
  3. In the end, Rogue Trooper is a technically solid game. It's intuitive, looks and plays great…but it's really not all that compelling.
