Its difficulty leads to an enormous amount of fun and it really drives you to keep going. It's action packed, rewarding and satisfying. Interesting story and good graphics for its time. The only thing keeping it from a 10 is a lack of polish.

This game gives you an amazing amount of control over your character. While the learning curve is steep, the rewards are great once you master them. Sprint across the ground then thrust up into the air, whip around 180 degrees and rain death upon aliens below -- thrilling! Very satisfying if you're willing to put in the effort. Expand

Confusing controls but how is that the game's problem. the reviewers are just to supid to know how to use the controls. Great graphics, great story, and thrilling to mow down hordes of aliens.

Gunvalkyrie is one of those game that are like a good B-movie. You don't expect much, but you get out of it with a satisfying feeling.

The game is an arcade style running-gunning with a bit of plateforming. You have multiple within the same area (but still different) where you gun down enemies, salavge equipment, or kill a boss. At the end you get score for your time, kills, and performance (this is what got me in this game). Then the score let you upgrade your weapons and armor. *Important: the game explains quickly how to move jump and shoot. What it doesn't tell you and that I believe most gamers never realise, is that you can play a whole mission without touching the more then 3 to 4 times.
The game is a well balance complex mechanic. And this is why I love this game. You can play it by using your normal control and fight with the game mechanic woundering why it is so hard to play OR you can figure out that if you spam your booster without ever depleting your fuel, you can stay in the air indefinitely. Making this game a whole new type of gameplay and a brand new game. The inverted controla makes way more sense when you are gliding like a plane and shooting down all your enemies.

For the speed runners and hardcore gamer, this game brings the challenge of spped , verticality, and instant reflexes. But this is only possible if you are really an hardcore gamer. Casual players will easily get bored after the first round if they are not enjoying beating their previous scores.

It all looks lush and the gameplay is surprisingly enjoyable despite the frustration, but it's not one for the casual gamer.

Valkyrie's controls are so klunky...it feels worse than just awkward, it literally hurts to play Valkyrie for more than a couple hours at a time. [Spring 2002, p.82]

    It's throw-your-controller-across-the-room-in-frustration difficult...and you'll love it.
