This is one of those rare games that is so great, on so many levels, that you get butterflies in your stomach just thinking about it. [Mar 2002, p.18]

    It's throw-your-controller-across-the-room-in-frustration difficult...and you'll love it.
  3. An awesome shooter with superb graphics, and the thumb-numbing game play is challenging but not too hard.

There is no reason to jump onboard its potentially dynamic ride unless you have the time to virtually marry the game...it will also be well worth the effort.
  5. Those with the patience and time however, will find a rewarding gaming experience.
  6. I predict that diehards will cherish this game for ages. Unfortunately novice players will get frustrated after the love affair with the graphics ends and the real challenges begin.
  7. At the core of the game is an excellent 3D shooter with enough platforming elements to keep the game varied. The levels, whether placed in the organic valleys or in the rigidly industrial buildings, are large and well detailed.

It's hard as hell, partially because it's meant to be, partially because the complex, non-adjustable control scheme is completely non-intuitive, and partially because the camera is simply too twitchy...[yet] we love the strangely gorgeous Gunvalkrie. [Apr 2002, p.72]

If it weren't for the controls, this would have been a perfect game to add to your gaming collection or Sega collection, but I figure Sega spent too much time on graphics and not enough time realizing that "Hey, these controls are worse than Tomb Raider!"
  10. Fight past the frustration and you'll find a great sense of reward and satisfaction; I personally found a lot to love about Gun Valkyrie.
  11. Thankfully, the ability to upgrade your jet pack adds a much-needed modicum of depth, while the control scheme makes it easy to move in one direction while blowing stuff up in the opposite. Titanium-breasted robozons, a-w-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-y!

If you're impatient, have bad carpal tunnel syndrome, or just never got that whole hand-eye coordination thing down, this probably isn't the game for you.

Its original plot and setting, polished visuals, and overall high production value make this a must-have for any skilled console gamer. It's unfortunate that its seemingly complex control scheme will alienate most casual players.
  14. Even with all of these great aspects, I feel that a terrible mistake was made by not including any multiplayer modes or extending the game time.

Interesting story and good graphics for its time. The only thing keeping it from a 10 is a lack of polish. Full Review »

Excelente, recomendo a todos! Full Review »

Gunvalkyrie is one of those game that are like a good B-movie. You don't expect much, but you get out of it with a satisfying feeling.

The game is an arcade style running-gunning with a bit of plateforming. You have multiple within the same area (but still different) where you gun down enemies, salavge equipment, or kill a boss. At the end you get score for your time, kills, and performance (this is what got me in this game). Then the score let you upgrade your weapons and armor. *Important: the game explains quickly how to move jump and shoot. What it doesn't tell you and that I believe most gamers never realise, is that you can play a whole mission without touching the more then 3 to 4 times.
The game is a well balance complex mechanic. And this is why I love this game. You can play it by using your normal control and fight with the game mechanic woundering why it is so hard to play OR you can figure out that if you spam your booster without ever depleting your fuel, you can stay in the air indefinitely. Making this game a whole new type of gameplay and a brand new game. The inverted controla makes way more sense when you are gliding like a plane and shooting down all your enemies.

For the speed runners and hardcore gamer, this game brings the challenge of spped , verticality, and instant reflexes. But this is only possible if you are really an hardcore gamer. Casual players will easily get bored after the first round if they are not enjoying beating their previous scores.
