Great game. Been waiting for a developer who dares to bring a game with this depth and flexibility. I particular love the outpost and ship builder. Gameplay is pretty good in spite of the complexity. A solid 10.

Thoroughly enjoyed the game start to finish. Thought the story was really interesting and gameplay was relatively good. There was some slight bugs I encountered and the frame rate can get choppy at times when in the Main hubs such as new Atlantis but overall I thought the game was really good!

A classic Bethesda game, that probably says it all. But I really liked it, and there is something to find fault with (for example, how the game world is sewn). After reading a lot of reviews and playing on my own, I realized that the game was subjected to unjustified haight. And I can only agree with one thing. Yes, the game does not look like a new generation, a lot could have been done better, but still the game is great, there are a lot of good stories in it, especially if you leave the main plot and immerse yourself in side missions. After all, this is a Bethesda game, and in their games it is always interesting to dig deep and wide, and not run along the straight path of the story serving only as a background. I got a real buzz from the game and I know that I haven't seen a lot in it yet. Expand

Im currently about 12hours in and enjoying it, I would recommend to anyone who's interested in exploring space to give it a go.

Everything about this game has been done really well so far. The only thing I could find to really complain about is when you go to craft items, it does not show how many you currently have in your inventory. Other than that this game has been perfect. It is appropriate that another Bethesda game finally passes Skyrim as my favorite game of all time. Great work.

Also, despite not being able to fully walk around a planet I have never hit a world border.

Let me start by saying that I feel like I was cheated out of my hard earned money, not because of the gameplay, but because of how much they are forcing their one sided opinions on people. Nowhere does Bethesda warn you about just how one sided / woke they made this game. I have over 90 hours in this game so I feel like I have a good perspective of what Starfield brings to the table. Here's a summary:

    1. Almost every important NPC from most store owners, military generals / commanders, the leader of Constellation, the supervisor leading the mining expedition at the start of the game, and even the president of the United Colonies, are all women. When it comes to a position of power or leadership, females very obviously and deliberately dominate every sector. The only time that a white male character is in a position of real leadership, is the leader of the Crimson Fleet, one of the main villains of the game. It's very obvious the developers hate white males, as they are a huge minority. 2. You can tell just how "diverse" the developers are by looking at the random civilians and guards in every city. In 90 hours of gameplay, Most of the guards / soldiers have been either black males or females ( of all races ), and females do dominate the soldiers / guards as well. The civilians consist of both genders, but almost exclusively Black or Asian. It's very rare to find white males anywhere in any cities, and the only places I usually find them is either in the ghetto of every city, or working the mines. With the way the world is going today, this maybe seems like a not too distant reality anyway. 3. If you are religious and believe in God, you will be very disappointed here. This game actively tries to find some sort of "scientific facts" to persuade people into thinking God isn't real. None of the main companions believe in God, and the only one that comes close believes in the "great serpent", in which that religion is viewed as a cult by almost every NPC. 4. When you create your character, you can choose your "body type" and "walk type" between Male or Female, and then you get the privilege to choose your pronouns. You can either be a He, a She, or a They. This one I am not as bothered by as this only revolves around your personal character. You can be a straight male if you want ( Although every romance companion is Bi ). The problem I have with the pronouns is that the Left all say "pronouns are no big deal" but when someone creates a mod to remove pronouns in the character creation for people who don't want to participate in that either due to religion or another reason, are attacked by the Left for their personal preferences. Very hypocritical and selfish of them to force everyone to share their views or get attacked, even though "It's not a big deal". If someone is going to be paying all that money for a game, they should have the freedom to play it how they want personally.

    5. There is a Transgender main character in the game ( part of one of the main side questlines ), but they try to be a little more cautious about the wording on this in the game by calling them a clone. You are pretty much forced to support this character throughout the questline even if you have different beliefs. Overall, the choice to purchase this game is entirely up to you. If you are into everything I mentioned earlier, this game is absolutely for you. But for those that share different beliefs and views, I would highly recommend avoiding the game until they either make it more diverse without the white male oppression, or a mod fixes it. They deliberately hid this aspect of the game until people purchased it and played enough to the point of no longer able to get a refund, and that was the wrong approach from Bethesda. Why can't we have a modern game where people can express themselves without being forced to a single ideology that they might not agree on? In my opinion, this game has to be one of the most racist / sexist games against White males that I have ever played. The gameplay itself is very fun ( other than the limits on exploration ) and there is a lot to do in terms of side activities, base / ship building, combat, etc. So it's not all bad. It all depends on your own personal views. Would it have been great for them to support both sides? Absolutely, but unfortunately that's not how the world is going. For me personally, this game is a 0/10 as the world building is immersion breaking.

The game does not shy away from tackling complex themes such as humanity's place in the cosmos, the ethics of colonization, the nature of artificial intelligence, and the consequences of war.

The gameplay of Starfield is smooth and satisfying, with a seamless transition between first-person and third-person perspective. The game offers a variety of gameplay styles, from stealth and hacking, to diplomacy and trading, to combat and exploration. The game also features a robust skill system that allows me to specialize in different fields and unlock new abilities. The combat is thrilling and tactical, with a wide range of weapons and gadgets that can be modified and upgraded. The game also supports different modes of travel, from walking and driving, to flying and teleporting.

The graphics and sound of Starfield are stunning and immersive, with a high level of detail and realism. The game uses the new Creation Engine 2, which delivers stunning visuals, realistic lighting and shadows, dynamic reflections, volumetric clouds, ray tracing, and more. The game also features a rich and varied soundtrack composed by Inon Zur, who also composed the music for Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. The game also features excellent voice acting from a talented cast of actors.

Starfield is not only the best game of 2023, but also one of the best games ever made. It is a monumental achievement in gaming history that sets a new standard for the genre. It is a game that deserves to be played by everyone who loves science fiction, role-playing, or simply great games. Starfield is a game that will stay with me for a long time, as I continue to explore its infinite possibilities. Starfield is not just a game, it is an experience. Starfield is the game of the year 2023.

You also have way more rpg options than fallout 4. You can play be a good karma explorer or a smuggling blood thirsty criminal. Runs fine on my Xbox series s with no issues after about 10 hours in. I personally dont mind 30 fps but the loading screens only take a second. It's got its quirks but overall it's a solid game but it does take an hour or 2 to get into it. Unconventional to the likes of previous titles like Skyrim and Fallout 3, there isn’t a famous “step out moment” but rather a slow crescendo into what ends up being one of the deepest narrative driven experiences I’ve had in years. There are so many moments that have you feeling like you are playing four or five games in one.

Starfield is an epic adventure that is worth savoring and is best described as a slow cooked meal- it is the slow cooked meals that are most satisfying.

For those who give 0 or 4 stars cus you can't fly through the atmosphere... thx god you are not a game developer.

Your wanna fly down to the surface? It'd be a boring trip! Would you wanna spend money on something majority don't care, and won't even try?
One or 2 youtubers might try it, but I'll bet, he/she will never do it again. It's life wasting.

Would you prefer to fly 20 hours (20 years?, 20 light years?) from planet A to planet B (meantime, it's just a boring flight)?
Or would you prefer, like in a movie, take off, cut, entering a planet, cut, landed, cut, shows that you've "traveled"?

On a planet, you wanna go to A, but you are at the opposite side of the location. You sure you wanna fly there? Have your even been to overseas? You know how freaking tiring it is to fly 10+hours right?

    I'd prefer "load".

Even the empty planets can be quite immersive just walking around reaching places and watching out for miles into a lonely desolate world, and can be a nice change. A game that where you decide to go and do one thing or reach a area but end up doing many other things as there's so many things that can distract you like: reading random books, site seeing, watching NPC, finding notes, enjoying the environment, upgrading, listening in on NPC, experimenting, discovering secrets, building ships, mining, discovering quests, experiencing random events, messing around with physics...etc..etc. The graphics at times can really impress and with detail, even when not at its best this game still looks great for most part. The games feels smooth and is great to have a 3rd perspective view. The action is good and very functional and dies the job well enough without all the OTT flashy action modern games seem to do and without QTE and Scripted events - it's more back to basics but in a very good way! This is not No Man's Sky, they are different games with only Space being the common theme. For Starfield is Mass Effect meets Skyrim but with its own features, that you experience as you further get into the game. A quality game that brings adventure, RPG, exploration, different styles of approach, action, story, quests this branch out, customisation, and other things and also considering the freedom, random events and scale of this game...it delivers a very enjoyable and immersive game that will give players different experiences each time you play - a game that can and will probably still be played 10yrs(+) from now as updates, mods, dlc will start to appear just like on classics Skyrim, Fallout games. Graphically although detailed in places the game feels uneven. Can look fantastic when there is not a lot going on, so more the art that is the winner here. Lighting can feel very flat and NPC look below average for modern day standards.HDR is a mess and looks washed out and grey, why there is no slider after the game has been delayed previously.
Positives: some quest lines are really great perhaps some of the best Bethesda have ever done , but some are really repetitive. Gun play is massively improved over their previous work such as Fallout, but don't expect Halo or Doom levels of gun play. Overall Fallout 3 is still my favourite Bethesda game, but thrwe is still lots to like about Starfield despite its shortcomings but I don't believe it has delivered on the hype that was built.

This game is the best sci fi rpg I ever played and maybe the best Bethesda rpg. I feel like playing a mix of skyrim and mass effect.

I wasn't thrilled on alot of things..the world seemed empty especially on planets now this isn't an indie game but there are times that I felt I was in the same structure just on different planets. It's just odd to why as Bethesda just paste it just on a different planet little odd to say. The graphics are authentic and vastly impressive from the same engine of FO4 but classic Bethesda npcs look disgusting. Gameplay is what shines here definitely enjoyable and responsive no issues for me. Story..eh well it's not bad nor a great it's serviceable. Starfield isn't a bad game but Starfield feels like No Man Sky and Star Citizen in certain formula..those games exceeded the exploration well Starfield did not. But Starfield can be fun but the content seems bare to me to which feel disappointing. And I respect the game for what it is my score is a 5 for bare content, lack of exploring and reused structures within the different planets. But the game is enjoyable at least. Expand

I see a comment on FB that calls this a "Fast Travel Simulation", that is pretty much the exploring portion of the game. I have put about 20 hrs and I think I will be putting it down for now, I spent about $30 for the premium pack and felt it was a waste. Expand

I'm sure for the right person this a great game! But even if you're not into a particular genre, a good game is a good game.
Unfortunately i couldn't get past the rigidly stiff combat, the lack of creative writing around the immediate inclusion of secret society, the lack of character development, the sterile nature of the whole game despite looking very life like, feels like a science

Looks really good and amazing attention to visual details etc...
Poor dialogue, no empathy with charecters, sold entirely on being big.
Can't fly space ship sub stratosphere?!
Soleless city of new uninspired blandness, jiw odd that I'm freely breathing with no space suit, yet my carbon levels build up and harm during time in normal atmosphere...
    Attention to details, please..
Spaceship just a glorified loading screen, mini game of fighter pilot lacks depth (starfox did it better on tge superfx chip)
Such a shame, less bethesda jank than usual but still pretty much broken in places..
This game ticks so many boxes adequately, lacks soul, and really honestly umm it gets good after 10 to 20 hrs..
Great plan, I couldn't face anymore fetch and carry, yank my chain missions to get that far..
Ok if you don't have a job, life, or any thing else to play.. Dull

Poor combat experience, enemy AI retarded. The plot is too flat to be fun. And why can it be transmitted wherever it is? To cover up a vast but barren world?

Starfield is a good game depending on what you was expecting. If you like addictive looter shooter type games with RPG and exploring elements then you will like it. But if you were expecting an immersive space sim then this is not it. Not bad at all just not great either.

It’s completely outrageous for a AAA space game in 2023 not to include:

    - Seamless space flight from ground to atmosphere - Exploring galaxies
    - Flying manually to planets (if you do you’ll fly through them, it’s all a fake skybox) - Vehicles

It is true that you'll find a good number of barren wastelands with little to do other than extracting some resources and take off to more interesting places, but again it really depends on how you want to play. There's so much to do, so many systems and abilities to explore, missions to complete, spaceships to loot, and species to catalogue, that I honestly don't think there's anybody who thinks that exploring every square meter of this universe is the better way to enjoy Starfield.

While it has weak spots and doesn’t push many boundaries, Starfield is still an excellent RPG experience. Bethesda has once again mastered the things it built its reputation on – world building, quest design, and deep customization. However, it’s found new things to excel at too, with exciting combat and a novel implementation of New Game Plus.
