    This game sucks. I played it and it left me wanting to sell my Xbox for a PlayStation 5. Nothing. I’d rather have a elephant step on me put me out of my misery than play it again.

    ...I hate to do this but Redfall is an absolute garbage. Arkane Studios well known for great quality and polished releases but Redfall broke that cycle. I'm so disappointed in this game I'm truly heart broken that one talented developers made this game in this state. 6 hours in the game is riddled with bugs and other problems like rendering. The online coop is what kills the experience you...I hate to do this but Redfall is an absolute garbage. Arkane Studios well known for great quality and polished releases but Redfall broke that cycle. I'm so disappointed in this game I'm truly heart broken that one talented developers made this game in this state. 6 hours in the game is riddled with bugs and other problems like rendering. The online coop is what kills the experience you don't progress the host does however you keep the loot like what's the point? Crashes.. this game crashed 4 times during the boss fight in the first section of the map, after I defeated the boss, in menu and matchmaking. It's so frustrating that it's pointless to even continue the game til patches are released cause right now what's the point. 30fps that doesn't stay at 30fps, the 60fps performance mode is at a later date like why? Map is bare.. it's literally empty and it's such a shame the maps are pretty big but lifeless. I honestly don't know how I can rate this game no higher than a 0. The game has potential but in my opinion with patches I really think it's a done deal. Also you need online support to actually play solo. The sounds mute from reloading, running and shooting. I can't recommend this on PC or Xbox. I'm not coming back til they fix alot of issues cause right now my score right now is a 0. I'll come back and review it again after a few patches are released. But yikes it's such a shame that this game was even released in this state. Should've delayed it another year.… Expand

    What else can I add? Apart from the constant performance issues, you get a barren open-world experience with little to no love given by the devs on this project. Ridiculous to be saying this for an Arkane game, of all studios. Save your money, and dare I even say save your time as well by not even trying it on Game Pass.

    I really wanted to like redfall. Love Arkanes previous games but this is a far cry from those. I’ve played on and off for the past 2 days with friends and solo. Experienced multiple crashes, utterly broken Ai, a grocery list worth of bugs, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The real problem at the core of the game though is that it’s just bad.     Simply ridiculous what has been delivered here, just as ridiculous as what Microsoft is doing with its studios. Arkane could probably do it better, but they seem to be declining under Microsoft. However, in its current state, it's probably good enough for Microsoft to shove it into the Gamepass. Microsoft and the Gamepass are a curse for the gaming world.

    Easily the worst game released in 2023 so far. Arkane have always been a mid studio but they hit a new low with Redfall and the fact Microsoft thought this was ok for release shows you how much they care about gaming, Just awful

    This game is absolutely trash. Glitches everywhere. The guns are unusable sometimes, the characters clip under the ground. The graphics are absolute garbage. As an Xbox user this is embarrassing and honestly makes me want to get a PlayStation 5 instead.

    The game is definitely not as bad as people are trying to make it out to be. The broken AI and performance are definitely the only big problems I’m experiencing (and I expect them to be fixed in the near future). The ridiculous and disproportionate outrage against this game and team, driven by console war hatred is disgusting.

    Ughhh haters are the absolute worst. Like... I guess sucking the joy out of everything counts as a hobby, but y'all should get a life. This game is wonderful. Look... it's got issues, but it's ultimately a lot of fun to play, looks good, and has a really cool Stephen King-esque vibe. It's not gunna change the world, but it's a solid title.

    Love this game. After patch its fine and plays beautifuly. I have had so much fun. Redfall is great once you get past the first hour.

    It's a 7.5/10 for me, but I'm giving it a 8 since only integers are allowed. I like the atmosphere of the game, it's nice especially during nighttime. The combat is actually fun when it works, but the AI seems unaware of your presence at times. The performance is acceptable, the game is not fast paced, but I think games in first person view cannot do without 60 fps.     I've been enjoying this title quite a bit. On my first few plays, I did experience a few bugs and some wonky enemy AI, but nothing after that. It could use a polish, as I have noticed some floating items and objects that defy gravity, but it's nothing game breaking. The game has great sound design and atmosphere, and I keep wanting to go back and play more.

There are some side quests that can be found by exploring or speaking to people in your base, but sadly they're basically shorter versions of similar ideas. Even the Safe Houses, which can be found and unlocked in each district of the map, repeat themselves almost immediately. It's soo repetitive.
    The graphics seem    not the game I expected it to be. What I hoped for was a multiplayer game. There are some side quests that can be found by exploring or speaking to people in your base, but sadly they're basically shorter versions of similar ideas. Even the Safe Houses, which can be found and unlocked in each district of the map, repeat themselves almost immediately. It's soo repetitive.
    The graphics seem poor and the game engine seems broken at times. It's a really disappointing release for sure. Xbox needs to step up for rest if it's releases because it looks bad. narrative it's all packaged with is oddly lifeless in its presentation. It's something that comes as quite a shock compared to Arkane's other games. I feel that Fallout 76 was better then this launch.    … Expand

    I like the atmosphere and the lighting as well as the variety of weapons & weapon perks the player abilities are fun as well. The aim on controller needs adjusting its nothing a good gamer can not handle it just needs tweaking, the map navigation needs more work as well it requires a mission icon and a quick pointer.    This game is a looter shooter at its core and it does exactly that.

    No cut scenes? Or real ones for that matter, just still frames with narration. Things I liked, for its issues and lack of a deep story, it’s still a fun shooter that’s easy to pick up and put down without having to worry about forgetting where you are or what you’re doing. Perfect for gamer dads that work full time. It’s got some fun mechanics and basic rpg elements that keep things just interesting enough. It’s a nice appetizer game, just fun enough to keep you busy till something you’re excited about comes out…..hopefully you weren’t too excited about this one though.    … Expand

As a solo player, it really saddens me that there is no matchmaking. I'd love to try this with others as I'm sure it's much more fun that way.     This feels like I'm playing an old game on a first gen PS4. Again, not a huge problem for me, but for 70$, sorry but that's way, way unacceptable. Having game pass, I feel slightly less robbed, but that's the problem with game pass: it makes us more tolerant to BS.

    I think Arkane actually had a fun vision here, and it IS fun. It just needed a solid 6 more months in the oven, which is not an Arkane decision, but a Bethesda/Microsoft problem.

    This is really sad because this release is probably going to make things change at Arkane when I really don't think they should, they probably won't try this genre again for a good while, and that's a damned shame, because Arkane is an incredible studio that I still have a lot of faith in.

    As for Xbox/Bethesda, this makes me very worried about the overall future of the platform, and Starfield. If Starfield is anything short of amazing, I'm selling my Xbox and picking up a new hobby, the gaming industry doesn't make fun and interesting things anymore, just drugs for dopamine addicts, and I can't take it anymore.

Sure enemy ai may be stupid at times and the Gagne lags at some points but I guess I’m lucky to not see any game breaking bugs YET. I think if they have a couple patch fixes this will shape up to a great game to play with a party of 4 people. Bugs are what is making me rate low so when fixedTbh the game isn’t horrible so far.     I was playing in coop in friends and for a while a solo game. Somehow it was fun nevertheless huge amount of bugs and seriously flawed gameplay. I don't see how it could become a good game even if they spend a lot of time on it, because it missing so many aspect of what make Arkane game a good game.

    Also game is very easy, because AI does not work

    Not a great game by any means. but, it is fun under all that broken ugliness.
    I tweaked the controls doesn't make me wanna puke anymore so there is that! And I am really enjoying co-op and that is where this game shines most for me. Fix the game and we have something that all intentions is special. Maybe I change my score

World is smaller than actual open world games and scenarios are plenty of visual narrative, also, as people say, it's very empty of enemies, but the result of this is good for me, instead of being like a dumbass action game it feels more like an Arkane game or a Bioshock in open world. Gunplay is very satisfying also, specially headshots, they feel amazing thanks to the feedback sound.     Redfall is a video game that has good ideas, the problem is that it didn't know how to present them well. Also another important point is the issue that there is no 60 FPS on Xbox series X/S, being a "Next-Gen" game it should not run at 30 FPS.

I like the setting of Redfall, a town full of vampires that trap the locals and now you and 3 other characters have to fight the vampires head-on and free the town. It reminds me of Far Cry 5 and funny enough some of the open world feels like Far Cry which is something that I liked. It also helped that the game itself has that familiar art style that was used in previous games like Dishonored, Prey, and Deathloop so it gives the game a sort of aesthetic. Overall the world is very cool but sadly there are too many negatives to be able to enjoy it.
    Now with the negatives, some of the writing in this game is just atrocious. I am not gonna attack anyone who wrote it or say that I could’ve done better but writing is just bad. Some of the characters have dialogue that reminds me of the remake of Saints Row which was just cringy. I played Layla, the college student, and as a college student, this character was the most stereotypical college student ever written in games. I liked her powers and thought she looked so cool but her writing is some of the worst, especially when she repeats lines in the open world after staking a vampire. The story had that strong start giving you sort of the lore on how the town got taken over but after that intro, the story just takes a huge backseat. There’s still a “story” but it's not engaging at all. I got to a part in a mansion where you learn some more backstory but by then I was so bored I didn’t want to pay attention and was just trying to rush the mission. The gameplay itself is alright, it can be fun at first but then gets really boring an hour in. It plays very similar to Far Cry but watered down a ton. Finally, as mentioned before, the game did not run well. I was just playing on the most basic setting but the low frame rate and pop-in texture was so bad that it sometimes would affect my actual combat.
    I truly didn’t want this game to fail, I loved Arkane’s previous games and I was hopeful that Xbox would have a nice turnaround and lead Xbox down a bright future but unfortunately, this game is just not good. Maybe it's better if you play with friends but I don’t see that helping a bit. Thankfully I didn't buy the game and played it on Game Pass but even for free I was still really disappointed. Maybe it might have a redemption story later on but right now it's a 5/10 for me.    … Expand

    I know this game was the fun one to hate on but I want to give you an honest review. The game is fun solo. I have not played an online match yet and have been slowly working through the game. Since completing it, i was able to get all of the achievements but maybe four and ran into none of the issues others did because I am not hosting a live match.     The world had a few beautiful sights to take in, small details made exploration interesting if you take the time to consider your surroundings. The horror is also intensified by the sounds of death and "jump-scare" style effects (those darn car alarms and boat horns got me every time). The main story had some highlights that added to the development of the environment in a positive way. Having played as the Crow Bearing commando, I also enjoyed the random input it had to offer, bringing a bit of humor to an overwhelmingly dark world. One NPC interaction/questline stuck with me (involving the vet clinic in the second "act"). I also encountered very few bugs/glitches given Bethesda was behind this title.

    That said, the gameplay was lacking. Full disclosure, I only played the single-player campaign 1.5 times thru. There may be "many" weapons, but each category offers only a couple of variations. You may find yourself only using two weapons for the majority of the game and heavily neglecting the third slot.

    The enemies are either pathetic or more challenging than any of the bosses. Having died only three times during the first playthrough, I can say none of which were on a "boss". Speaking of which, out of the four, only one of them was truly a test of skill and resourcefulness (LW) while the finale was devoid of any combat against the ringleader that darkened the sun.

    The world felt both too empty and too small at the same time. After reaching the second part of the island, I recall walking an entire stretch of road without encountering an enemy or an interesting location to explore. This is something completely out of character for a Bethesda game.

    Leveling in the game started off as an exciting event. Thinking about how I was going to spec my character for maximum survivability gave me just enough encouragement to push through any doubts I had about the game. Having only played one character (Jacob Boyer), I can only speak to his feats/abilities. Once the cloak ability was unlocked, the game was already broken. Becoming invisible for ten seconds and enemies immediately forgetting they were looking for you seemed like an unintentional bug. Shoot a couple of baddies for easy kills, cloak when they start getting close, rinse and repeat. I could even run from one end of the map to the other, barely ever running into an enemy, and in the event I sparked some attention, don the cloak and my worries are gone to continue to my destination.

    Nearing the end of the campaign, experience is gained at a snail's pace, making it unlikely that a player will ever accomplish their respective skill-tree goals in the first playthrough. All of the characters have the same few skill unlocks available to them, such as improving ammo capacity for certain weapons, but I'll be honest, I only put one point into these trees (stake launcher capacity).

    Overall, the game felt too quick to finish. Having hunted for any side quests I could, I managed to complete the game in a single weekend and I'm confident that someone with less regard to stealth would've finished in a single sitting. There was no feeling of truly game-changing rewards for completing side quests, such as OP weaponry or storyline changes. The player skin/outfit feature felt out of touch with the setting of the game a silly.

    Final thought:
    I'll likely finish my second playthrough/NewGame+ and call it quits. I doubt playing different characters will address the concerns I have that limit me from ranking this game higher. I also won't be able to convince my friends to join and check out what the multiplayer aspect entails, which again won't change the game in a remarkable way.    … Expand

    Despite most of the negative reviews, this game is actually pretty fun. Especially if you play with friends. There are quite a few bugs that I assume will get fixed in time. Hopefully, the developers put in the work. I finished the game and will give it another go once 60fps drops.

    If looking for a grand single player narrative then this game won't be for you. I had fun with my 17 hour playthrough. I experienced a couple minor bugs but overall it was pretty good.

    I couldn't play for a day due to constant disconnect issues. Now I crash to xbox dashboard every so often. The AI is terrible. I just bum rush all of them with a shotgun and it's easy. The graphics seem out of date and animation isn't good. And the cut scenes are not $70 AAA material.

I really liked the game. Especially like the focus on gameplay instead of endless video/text stories and forced chats with NPC's. The game had some bugs in it, but I trust those wil be fixed soon. To be honest the graphics weren't as good as I hoped for, although still being pretty good. These graphics would not have bothered me if didn't social media made so much noise about it.     Movement and gunplay feels very stiff and jarring. Empty environments,lack of variety in enemies. Shotguns are very weak and take multiple shots to kill weak enemies even at point blank range. Story is boring and characters feel very one dimensional.

Quand on voit des mastodontes comme jedi fallen order bourré de bug, au moins redfall est jouable , pas le plus beau mais pas le plus moche non plus. Si vous y jouez dans le gamepass, n’hésitez pas à plonger dans l’aventure. Par contre, à l’achat son prix devrait davantage tourner entre 40 et 50€ au lieu de 80€.… Expand

    El bueno me gustó. Creo que hay mucho Review bombing. Es verdad que hay algunos bugs, problemas de rendimiento no note y lo más críticable es la IA de los enemigos. El juego en si es bueno, los gráficos son modelados de alta calidad pero con un estilo de los 80. El juego quiere remitir al jugador a una época de película de terror retro.     Redfall es un juego glorioso y majestuoso original y muy divertido, Es simplemente un juego pensado a futuro y que ira creciendo con el tiempo en contenido... Se que es el futuro se convertirá en un mejor juego.

    Red fall é um jogo com um grande potencial e uma excelente história, mas infelizmente assim como muitos jogos de hoje ele lançou precisando de polimento, mas nada que tire o brilho de mais uma excelente franquia da Arkane.

    I rly like this game. AI is far from perfect but main story missions are very different, game makes me keep playing. Already 16 hours in! Very good game

    Juego para jugar en el nivel más difícil y hacer las misiones en cooperación con amigos para que sea todo un reto, súper divertido explorar y palmar haciéndolo con compañeros, misiones secundarios y nidos bastante buenos, y para mi un diseño artístico y música de tensión de una ciudad infestada muy buena.

    Aiming and looting is a bit weird but with a squad you can have fun. People are complaining about graphics and what not. It’s a cartoonish game what did you expect. We’re having mad fun playing it.

Es un juego entretenido, con una buena banda sonora, la historia no es la mejor pero es buena, a pesar de las quejas sobre su falta de modo rendimiento pienso que en este juego no es esencial, de lo que he jugado no me parece una jugabilidad tan frenética como para que en verdad requiera los 60fps o más, aunque eso no justifica el hecho de que ya lo habían vendido con esa idea, no me he topado con ningún bug, aunque es cierto que la inteligencia artificial no es la mejor, pero nada que afecte la experiencia de juego ya que sigue siendo disfrutable, en cuanto a los gráficos tiene un estilo artístico que no le da un aspecto muy realista, pero definitivamente no son gráficos de pasada generación, tiene una muy buena iluminación, las texturas tienen buenos desplazamientos y buenos mapeos de bump no encontré coaliciones raras en objetos que no deberían tener, los follajes cuentan con movimiento y algunos efectos no se ven nada mal, si comparamos con anteriores juegos de arkane graficamente este se nota más trabajado aunque con ligeros tropiezos en la optimización, en conclusión personalmente no me parece tan mal juego como lo quieren vender tiene sus tropiezos pero nada como para tachar el juego de injugable o disfrutable, es entretenido… Expand

    The result is a game with no identity of its own. Redfall simultaneously wants to be a looter shooter like Borderlands, in an open world like Fallout's, with action like Dying light and a lengthy multiplayer experience like Destiny. But it fails on all counts. The game environments are bleakly empty, the gameplay is wooden. Like the vampires from the world of Redfall, the game has no soul.

    Sadly, Redfall had unbelievable potential and a dynamic studio behind this that is known for quality gaming, but under delivered at quite literally almost every facet of the game. Redfall, unfortunately, should be avoided, and in fact, I hope that the industry starts taking a look at these games and starts evaluating its processes, because if you're only as good as your last game, then Arkane isn't looking good at all.
