    As a fan of the studio's previous works, I've played Redfall from start to finish. The disappointment has been tremendous: it is a mediocre game in almost every aspect. The gameplay is poor and extremely repetitive, the AI is absurd, it is plagued with bugs (many of them that condition the development of the game) and contains multiple graphical errors both in terms of performance andAs a fan of the studio's previous works, I've played Redfall from start to finish. The disappointment has been tremendous: it is a mediocre game in almost every aspect. The gameplay is poor and extremely repetitive, the AI is absurd, it is plagued with bugs (many of them that condition the development of the game) and contains multiple graphical errors both in terms of performance and texture loading. Lastly, the story is uninteresting. In my opinion the only thing that saves is the art direction, with classic Arkane touches, which are worthwhile. Otherwise, a game to forget.     This is certainly a game.It has controls,characters,camera angle, and other things that start with the letter C.If your looking for a game with things this is the game for you.Nice one Arkane Austin!!!

    Despite most of the negative reviews, this game is actually pretty fun. Especially if you play with friends. There are quite a few bugs that I assume will get fixed in time. Hopefully, the developers put in the work. I finished the game and will give it another go once 60fps drops.

    For me this is a worst game from Arkane, but first i hate open worlds, then I really don't like vampires in the game.
    But I downloaded game on console and pc and tried for few hours.
    No critical bugs, some problems with low quality textures somewhere. But the story i very poor. Vampires are almost the same, boooring. The same about the rest of enemies..     Why , the hell, they did open world: it is power consuming and game is so poor because of that. mentioned similar games are heaven better.

However, amazingly enough there hasn’t been a peep out of the devs. My gamepass is expiring and Microsoft has given me zero reason to renew so I tried this today. Wow it’s bad, really bad.     This is the worst generation of Xbox and Playstation. The playstation 5 still uses the graphics engines of the Playstation 4 and the Xbox series x still couldn't come close to the graphics of the Playstation 4 exclusives.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A lot of missed opportunities.

    The world had a few beautiful sights to take in, small details made exploration interesting if you take the time to consider your surroundings. The horror is also intensified by the sounds of death and "jump-scare" style effects (those darn car alarms and boat horns got me every time). The main story had some highlights that added to the development of the environment in a positive way. Having played as the Crow Bearing commando, I also enjoyed the random input it had to offer, bringing a bit of humor to an overwhelmingly dark world. One NPC interaction/questline stuck with me (involving the vet clinic in the second "act"). I also encountered very few bugs/glitches given Bethesda was behind this title.

    That said, the gameplay was lacking. Full disclosure, I only played the single-player campaign 1.5 times thru. There may be "many" weapons, but each category offers only a couple of variations. You may find yourself only using two weapons for the majority of the game and heavily neglecting the third slot.

    The enemies are either pathetic or more challenging than any of the bosses. Having died only three times during the first playthrough, I can say none of which were on a "boss". Speaking of which, out of the four, only one of them was truly a test of skill and resourcefulness (LW) while the finale was devoid of any combat against the ringleader that darkened the sun.

    The world felt both too empty and too small at the same time. After reaching the second part of the island, I recall walking an entire stretch of road without encountering an enemy or an interesting location to explore. This is something completely out of character for a Bethesda game.

    Leveling in the game started off as an exciting event. Thinking about how I was going to spec my character for maximum survivability gave me just enough encouragement to push through any doubts I had about the game. Having only played one character (Jacob Boyer), I can only speak to his feats/abilities. Once the cloak ability was unlocked, the game was already broken. Becoming invisible for ten seconds and enemies immediately forgetting they were looking for you seemed like an unintentional bug. Shoot a couple of baddies for easy kills, cloak when they start getting close, rinse and repeat. I could even run from one end of the map to the other, barely ever running into an enemy, and in the event I sparked some attention, don the cloak and my worries are gone to continue to my destination.

    Nearing the end of the campaign, experience is gained at a snail's pace, making it unlikely that a player will ever accomplish their respective skill-tree goals in the first playthrough. All of the characters have the same few skill unlocks available to them, such as improving ammo capacity for certain weapons, but I'll be honest, I only put one point into these trees (stake launcher capacity).

    Overall, the game felt too quick to finish. Having hunted for any side quests I could, I managed to complete the game in a single weekend and I'm confident that someone with less regard to stealth would've finished in a single sitting. There was no feeling of truly game-changing rewards for completing side quests, such as OP weaponry or storyline changes. The player skin/outfit feature felt out of touch with the setting of the game a silly.

    Final thought:
    I'll likely finish my second playthrough/NewGame+ and call it quits. I doubt playing different characters will address the concerns I have that limit me from ranking this game higher. I also won't be able to convince my friends to join and check out what the multiplayer aspect entails, which again won't change the game in a remarkable way.    … Expand

You just fight safe house to safe house or retrieval missions, even in the story.

    The characters are lackluster which isn't helped by the lack of cutscenes. Rather, like the still images we get in the story, the characters are just copy and pasted stereotypes who, again, have much more potentially to be unique. Playsble characters don't feel much different from one another and their abilities are half- baked.

    I have heard that co-op is better, but lacks a reasonable progression system, however I've not played it.

    I can't justify keeping it on my console despite really hoping that a few patches or DLC can bring it back to life. This has been compared to Cyberpunk at its first released which, I didn't play at first, but when I did, I found it to be an incredible game. Here's hoping Redfall follows suit.

    It's not unplayable, but there are so many ideas and mechanics that needed some more time and thought put into them. The world is nice and fr didn't bother me, so no complaints there.    … Expand

    I've been enjoying this title quite a bit. On my first few plays, I did experience a few bugs and some wonky enemy AI, but nothing after that. It could use a polish, as I have noticed some floating items and objects that defy gravity, but it's nothing game breaking. The game has great sound design and atmosphere, and I keep wanting to go back and play more.

    This game feels like a B game masquerading as a AAA game... very disappointing
    The game has potential if they fix the following:
    - the enemy AI - they feel like NPCs just waiting to be shot, even on the highest difficulty
    - better graphics... this doesn't feel like a current gen game its more like this game was made for the 360 era... crysis looks better.

    I had a blast on xbox game pass on my series x...im 19 hours in and still loving it.
    The few bugs I came across didn't really bother me that much...im not sure why all the hate an amazing game from arkane studios.

    Ughhh haters are the absolute worst. Like... I guess sucking the joy out of everything counts as a hobby, but y'all should get a life. This game is wonderful. Look... it's got issues, but it's ultimately a lot of fun to play, looks good, and has a really cool Stephen King-esque vibe. It's not gunna change the world, but it's a solid title.

    I know this game was the fun one to hate on but I want to give you an honest review. The game is fun solo. I have not played an online match yet and have been slowly working through the game. Since completing it, i was able to get all of the achievements but maybe four and ran into none of the issues others did because I am not hosting a live match. I would of enjoyed to have a bot to help me in tough battles when playing solo. Give it a try, I promise it will be better then what the masses who never touched it are screaming about.… Expand

    Not bad... This game is actually pretty fun, especially if you play with friends (and not on easy, lolz). Vampire and their thralls is a nice change from zombies and the guns feel really good. It's got a nice power set for each character and a decent enough narrative even though that's secondary to me behind the combat and loot.     First off anyone giving this game a 9 or 10 is a Xbox fan boy lying to themselves and you about this game!! This game is really bad. I was shocked how bad it was. This game will need A LOT to even become something decent. No other words can explain how shocked I am that this came out of Arkane studios.

    What a mess of a game. From the story, and the glitches, to the horrible AI enemies. The entire game should have been nuked from orbit and started from the ground up. Even if patches could be added later to fix the performance problems, the story and gameplay are not worth your time and energy. There are other games that do what Redfall tried to do better in every way.

No. The story is interesting albeit not told through traditional cinematic cutscenes, opting for notes that the player must seek out themselves through exploration.     I have over 70 hours in game now. Gameplay is a absolute blast. Multiplayer part is amazing as you can go where you want to and do two mission in one go each his own side.

    I give it a big 10/10 because i love the game and it deserve way more rating !

Sure enemy ai may be stupid at times and the Gagne lags at some points but I guess I’m lucky to not see any game breaking bugs YET. I think if they have a couple patch fixes this will shape up to a great game to play with a party of 4 people. Bugs are what is making me rate low so when fixedTbh the game isn’t horrible so far.     Is not so bad, vibe and setting are great, also has good ideas. For sure, lots of technical issues and very bad graphics but I can't put down the controller. Lots of improvement potentials are in this game, hope it will get it or at least the second installment!

    Redfall is a video game that has good ideas, the problem is that it didn't know how to present them well. Also another important point is the issue that there is no 60 FPS on Xbox series X/S, being a "Next-Gen" game it should not run at 30 FPS.

    Redfall was a game that I really wanted to be fun but unfortunately was disappointed with the end product. I spent roughly 2 hours with it and during those 2 hours, it couldn't keep me engaged. I like the setting of Redfall, a town full of vampires that trap the locals and now you and 3 other characters have to fight the vampires head-on and free the town. It reminds me of Far Cry 5 and funny enough some of the open world feels like Far Cry which is something that I liked. It also helped that the game itself has that familiar art style that was used in previous games like Dishonored, Prey, and Deathloop so it gives the game a sort of aesthetic. Overall the world is very cool but sadly there are too many negatives to be able to enjoy it.
    Now with the negatives, some of the writing in this game is just atrocious. I am not gonna attack anyone who wrote it or say that I could’ve done better but writing is just bad. Some of the characters have dialogue that reminds me of the remake of Saints Row which was just cringy. I played Layla, the college student, and as a college student, this character was the most stereotypical college student ever written in games. I liked her powers and thought she looked so cool but her writing is some of the worst, especially when she repeats lines in the open world after staking a vampire. The story had that strong start giving you sort of the lore on how the town got taken over but after that intro, the story just takes a huge backseat. There’s still a “story” but it's not engaging at all. I got to a part in a mansion where you learn some more backstory but by then I was so bored I didn’t want to pay attention and was just trying to rush the mission. The gameplay itself is alright, it can be fun at first but then gets really boring an hour in. It plays very similar to Far Cry but watered down a ton. Finally, as mentioned before, the game did not run well. I was just playing on the most basic setting but the low frame rate and pop-in texture was so bad that it sometimes would affect my actual combat.
    I truly didn’t want this game to fail, I loved Arkane’s previous games and I was hopeful that Xbox would have a nice turnaround and lead Xbox down a bright future but unfortunately, this game is just not good. Maybe it's better if you play with friends but I don’t see that helping a bit. Thankfully I didn't buy the game and played it on Game Pass but even for free I was still really disappointed. Maybe it might have a redemption story later on but right now it's a 5/10 for me.    … Expand

Velozes e furiosos, Rambo etc. A gente não consegue é um jogo tão ruim, cercado de uma expectativa enorme, de um bom estúdio (Arkane) em um período que o Xbox precisava tanto de jogos.     I was playing in coop in friends and for a while a solo game. Somehow it was fun nevertheless huge amount of bugs and seriously flawed gameplay. I don't see how it could become a good game even if they spend a lot of time on it, because it missing so many aspect of what make Arkane game a good game.

    Also game is very easy, because AI does not work

    It's not as bad as the reviews suggest it. I started playing and expecting disaster, as seen in these reviews, but the game definitely earns a better score than 3.1. Yes, AI is buggy, and dum, we should have an option for 60 FPS. I did not have any braking bugs, at least on XBOX and the gameplay was ok.

    Each to their own opinion of course and respect to the dissapointment of the haters, but I've got to say that I'm really loving this game. It's atmospheric, beatifull world and just super FUN! I seriously have been playing non stop since I got it. Oh yeah, the ai is pretty broken but I reckonthat will be fixed quickly. Anyway I'm off to play some more :)

    No cut scenes? Or real ones for that matter, just still frames with narration. Things I liked, for its issues and lack of a deep story, it’s still a fun shooter that’s easy to pick up and put down without having to worry about forgetting where you are or what you’re doing. Perfect for gamer dads that work full time. It’s got some fun mechanics and basic rpg elements that keep things just interesting enough. It’s a nice appetizer game, just fun enough to keep you busy till something you’re excited about comes out…..hopefully you weren’t too excited about this one though.    … Expand

    Clearly there are bugs but I've been enjoying the game. And don't think the Review Bombing is fair to the Devs who have spent the past 5yrs working on this game. Not the best out nor is it even close to the worst....I personally feel (minus the bugs) people just had a certain expectation for the game, Based off a Misleading Game Trailer....But overall I've been really having fun with the game

    The game really is as bad and buggy as the memes and videos suggest. I’m rating a 3, as there is some atmosphere and style here, which in a better game I might have enjoyed. But coming straight from Dead Island 2, the drop in quality is remarkable. It's so poor, this may have wider consequences for XBox and Microsoft as a whole.     Overall average but enjoable could of been a great game if they had had another year to polish and tidy up the rough edges and gameplay honestly id rate it at 80 % playable despite the issues

    broken AI, Empty open world, none existent story ( fun fact the trailers were more animated than the actual game shows where the money went)bad loot system and this is all before stuttering, the frozen in place enemies, the crashes and the 30fps.

    REDFALL is the worst game of the year and yet another hardship behind the backs of microsoft fanboys. Combat is rotten and the graphics are worse than the xbox 360.

    Not a great game by any means. but, it is fun under all that broken ugliness.
    I tweaked the controls doesn't make me wanna puke anymore so there is that! And I am really enjoying co-op and that is where this game shines most for me. Fix the game and we have something that all intentions is special. Maybe I change my score

    The result is a game with no identity of its own. Redfall simultaneously wants to be a looter shooter like Borderlands, in an open world like Fallout's, with action like Dying light and a lengthy multiplayer experience like Destiny. But it fails on all counts. The game environments are bleakly empty, the gameplay is wooden. Like the vampires from the world of Redfall, the game has no soul.

    Sadly, Redfall had unbelievable potential and a dynamic studio behind this that is known for quality gaming, but under delivered at quite literally almost every facet of the game. Redfall, unfortunately, should be avoided, and in fact, I hope that the industry starts taking a look at these games and starts evaluating its processes, because if you're only as good as your last game, then Arkane isn't looking good at all.
