Much to my surprise, all of the playable characters have different styles. Grimlock is more of a grappler, Bumblebee is quicker and doesn't pack a punch, Sideswipe has access to a quicker dash, and so on. They're not wildly different to the point where you'll have to relearn every single facet of the game, but they're nuanced enough that there's actually a reason to pick different Autobots.

Scratch beneath the surface and there's a deep game that gives out as much as you're willing to put in. [Christmas 2015, p.79]

Like a robot in disguise, Transformers: Devastation is a really good game that could have been potentially great. Sadly, there isn't more than meets the eye to Platinum's effort, but what is included is superb. It's just too bad there isn't a little bit more of it.

It's not original, it's obviously a bit rushed, and it's very short, but it's also the best Transfomers game around, far from the confused style of the Michael Bay movies, and finally faithful to the original animated series. The fact that it reuses a lot of mechanics from Platinum Action games, simplifying them, helps a lot when it comes to quality and excitement.

Tranformers Devastation is best Transformers game to date. PlatinumGames did a great job with the fighting portion of the game and that's all we want to remember, as the rest is not on the same level.

It's like playing an episode of the 80s' cartoon, with some Bayonetta tricks to make it really enjoyable. Fighting system is pretty effective, but the whole thing quickly feel repetitive (and sometimes clumsy because of the camera) and pretty big environments really lack life and interest when you have to explore them. But fans will probably forgive Transformers Devastation mistakes.

SHORT AND SWEET. That's my definition of Transformers: Devastation based on my experience with it.

I have played many video games across many consoles containing over 8 hours of single player campaign which at the end of the day when everything is set and done, i wondered if that specific game had to be that long.

Many Game Developers design their games in a way that in order to be completed the player would have to grind through unnecessary missions, levels of story GCI that only makes the game a TASK to play through instead of what it was designed for....FUN....and I'm glad Platinum Games kept this title short and to the point.

Bringing back classic voice actors like Peter Cullen, Michael Bell and Gregg Berger makes this game feel like an episode of the original Transformers show. The combat is nothing to slouch at either, with most enemies towering over you, making defeating them all the more sweeter. As well, there are tons of references to the Transformers mythos, an excellent surprise for the most observant of fans. Expand

The gameplay is fabulous, with fighting combo"s amazing and feels like a pack a punch. The guns are good, but can run out of amo real fast. The loot is terrible, but I didn't care, as I hardly picked up any. The graphics are outstanding, with environment, character, and etc are fantastic. The sound is incredible, brining back actors of old and returning to reprise their voices of the characters. After the story, there is are 40 challenge modes to complete after the story. There is no reason to go back after, but it is still fun to play. I really enjoyed this game, and if your a transformers fan of old or new, this is a must buy. Expand

Transformers as a kid were awesome. This game brought back a lot of memories (as compared to the movies which I didn't like). I beat theTransformers as a kid were awesome. This game brought back a lot of memories (as compared to the movies which I didn't like). I beat the game on the medium difficulty.

    Pros:
    - Lots of nostalgia
    - The combat was fluid and fun
    - Cool characters to fight against like Devastator, Soundwave
    - Good replayability as you can play as 5 different characters

    Cons:
    - I went out to challenge mode and tried a couple. It reset my difficulty in the main game.
    - There are some defend Wheeljack missions that are frustrating
    - The achievements for me did not track right
    - Wasn't a big fan of repeated sights of the same enemy
    - Pet peeve is when you have chapters of greatly different lengths. The first chapter had 10+ missions and some of the others only had like 3 or 4
    - Jetfire where are you?
