A good but not excellent game.

Delivers all you want in an shooter game like with a different approach, RPG-based, so don't expect to kill someone with a headshot!

Expand

The Division is a great open world shooter. There are tons of guns to choose from, different play styles in the forms of perks/skills, and endless hordes of baddies to shoot. There is even tons of gameplay after the plot is finished. The inclusion of commendations and field data (Phone recordings and such) add a sort of scavenger hunt aspect to the game.

I enjoyed this game more than I thought I would. Initially I was unhappy with the overly spongy enemies and to some degree that holds true even after levelling up gear to almost max level. When matched with enemies at close to your level the combat is exciting and enjoyable but away from your own level they become super easy or super tanky.
Overall, an enjoyable game though it got boring

Let's just say this, a videogame is supposed to be FUN. And the division, like Destiny is lots of it.
They're both Ok games, they haven't reinvented the RPGs or the videogame world. But they`re great fun games. And I know many reviewers just don't see it like that, they see it like work and forget the true nature of videogames.

That said this games has it flaws. Character customization sucks, not many options when you create your agent, still seems like you're on Beta. Moments when in game you are just walking with no real threat. Not many weapon variety, but firing your weapon is tons of fun.
Dark Zone is intense, and I do mean intense. This is where you do feel the threat. Trying to extract some weapons just to have some NPCs come and kick your arse is hardcore. There's also the threat of not knowing if the other players will betray you or help you.

Storywise I don't care much, I mean it's not that bad, but the fun side of the gameplay just wants to keep shooting and killing every RIker or Cleaner instead of listening to the story.

The game is not your typical shooter where you can run through without ever dying, COD this is not. You will die, a lot. You will grind for gear and guns, a lot. But, that is one reason it is fun, you are actually working to achieve something.

In the beginning it did get a bit tedious, but I have never played a game where the developers offer so much free loot and DLC for at such a fast rate. Even after beating the main story there is still yet so much to do. The DLC's also do not just offer an extra map, they open up larger areas, as well as new game modes. thsi game is many games all rolled into one.

Now...for the Dark Zone.... You will want to break your controller multiple times. It is a great new concept of PvPvE. meanign all players are friendly except for the AI. But, a player can go 'rogue' and take you out if they want or start a fight. there is awesome loot in the DZ you have to extract and other players can steal it from you. I cursed the game developers so many times for this creation, but it was because I was simply butthurt.

For what you get with this game I am shocked it is now cheap. It is jam packed full of content. A must own.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ll admit it outright- I was more than hyped for the release of Tom Clancy’s The Division in more ways than I can possible explain. The basic premise of an unforgiving romp through a devastated New York City struck chords favorable to Crysis 2 within me and that was fine by my standards. Add to that the fact that it was the first Tom Clancy game I’d been thoroughly excited for since Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 and you’ve got yourself quite the hype train rumbling down the tracks.

What transpired is something altogether different than I’d initially imagined and envisioned, although that’s not to say it was terrible or that it hasn’t evolved over time to become a closer image to what I expected. As with any MMO/RPG, The Division fell into many of the same traps that Destiny did in the year or so before. The saving grace for these games is that the developers can take this into account and slowly update it enough with each new patch or content release and bring the game closer in line with what players expected or asked for. The disappointing part is that this takes time and not everyone has the patience to wait for a game to become what it should’ve been from the onset.

Once you eliminate some of the ironically farfetched aspects of the game and its gameplay and factor in the realism and attention to detail, The Division is quite the grandiose picture of a devastated NYC after all. The environments are certainly one of the stronger aspects both in aesthetic pleasure and tense action forced upon you by harrowing conflict in close quarters with an adaptable enemy. The cover system is quite progressive and you’ll certainly need to utilize the variety of environmental protection as you take the fight to rioters, looters, and heavily armed militia forces attempting to make the most of a bad situation. The enemies you’ll face are some of the smartest in terms of functioning thought processes, even if they’ll often open themselves to easy dispatching as well.

When I think of the Tom Clancy brand of games I often immediately think of action-packed tactical outings such as Splinter Cell or Ghost Recon. Truthfully, in the last few years the TC games we have seen have either been a disappointment or fallen somewhere outside of this traditional category. We have had wonderful additions to the Splinter Cell family, but the newest Ghost Recon titles have been far from great in terms of following the tactical baseline. I’m all for trying new things out and The Division is a testament to that for the TC label and surely an influence ultimately for Ghost Recon: Wildlands as well, seeing as it shares the same genre type. What I mean to say is The Division has broken some new ground for better or worse- it does what it states and no more or less, considering the fact that it sticks to tactics and ultra-realistic firefights.

While I recognize that even now it still has its flaws, if I had to recommend whether or not to purchase the game I would definitely say to go for it if you can secure the complete package- DLC and deluxe items or whatever else may be available to you. Microsoft, Steam, and Play Station Network all often offer deals on titles that have been out for some time and packages as well so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find on any main platform. Whereas Rainbow Six: Siege is a great game bogged down by paid content and premium status packs and an initial barebones game in terms of content, The Division only really offers three major expansions and the rest of its paid content is mostly cosmetic. I’m glad that Ubisoft has foregone some of its typical shenanigans concerning paid and premium content and followed more along the lines of Bungie and Destiny.

Ultimately if I were to assign the game a score it would have to be somewhere in the 7.0-8.0 range, even as of now. I’d certainly lean towards the 80% mark rather than anything lower than 75% however, but I cannot say the game doesn’t still have its fair share of glitches, bugs, and design flaws at times. What is there is approachable and definitely enjoyable, it’s just a matter of persistence and patience as well. I definitely enjoy the frantic feel of combat both against computer generated enemies and player controlled foes in the PvP/PvE Dark Zone. The Division is certainly an interesting take on hybrid shooters, that much is certain.

My 8 points rating comes as follows:

The story never really comes into the air and remains flat until the end.
This also applies to the main characteristics.
This is not a spoiler, by the way!
If you are expecting a film-rich story here, you will be disappointed and should not think about a purchase.

Despite the bad story, one of the great strengths of the game is the gameplay / gunplay. The game is filled with a gamepad as well as buttonplay super.
Who likes third-person shooter will be happy here.
The big But depends on the Grinding that meanwhile is not as essential as before, but still a large part of the Endgames represents.
A Grinding preference is needed but still to have fun here.
The Dark Zone is a way to get the best Ingameloot.
Here you can hunt or spare other players in the team or alone.
So the PvP area of the game.
In addition to PvP, there are additional missions and main missions PvE.

The shooter is based on the SnowDrop engine and this looks great despite the downgrade. New York looks great by day / night by sharp textures and fashionable!

In the end one can say one thing: Who likes Grinding, Teamplay and graphics will be happy here.
However, anyone who expects an epic story will be deceived.
The game is a lot of fun.

    I hope I could help!

The division tells the story about a smallpox pandemic that wreaks havoc on black Friday…
You’re part of the division, sent in by the US government to assist emergency responders and restore order.
The game starts in Brooklyn but opens up when you enter Manhattan…
This game is online only and is absolutely brutal…
Probably one of the hardest if not hardest third person shooter I’ve ever played…
If you’re playing by yourself… you’re not making it to the end unless you’re a 360 no scope mlg pro..
I am not... so I teamed up with a squad the entire way….
But this isn’t your typical 3rd person shooter…
    There are no head shots...
Enemies have hp rather than just being vulnerable humans... they’re armored up and bullet spongy…
I didn’t realize the type of game this was at first so I felt frustrated, only to remind myself borderlands is the same way…
So this is more or less a 3rd person borderlands with none of the color or humor…
My Love for the Division slowly grew on me… and I did eventually fall in love…
But halfway through the game, my love evaporated.
In the division you can explore the city of Manhattan either alone or with a crew of up to 4 players, there are 19 main story missions in this game that increasingly have a higher level requirement…
Each mission will give you roughly 1 level.. And you also gain xp from killing enemies, doing side missions, discovering new locations and finding collectibles…
And at first this feels great...
You’ll run down the street and run into an encounter and help whoever out and move on to the mission you were heading too…
You gain your first 5 levels without even trying…
Then you’re doing mission after mission... killing these insanely tough enemies… picking up their dropped weapons, finding loot and armor..
Getting supplies to work on the different wings of your base to unlock new skills and abilities...
Assigning these abilities to your 2 and eventually 3 ability slots…
It’s so frustrating and so addictive at the same time…
Coming up with strategies with your teams mates during tough sections..
    Providing health, cover, and distraction…
This is why it’s important to play with others…
On your own you can’t be revived… enemies do take less damage... but it isn’t worth being sent back to a checkpoint each time you die to an area of respawned enemies…
You’re heading into the dark zone to look for contaminated but more powerful loot, killing other players to increase your dark zone level to leave with better gear
And you’re halfway through the game..
You’re level 13... The next missions enemies are level 16 no big deal…
You’ve got your awesome crew... you can handle anything.
    Nope.
You can’t play missions more than 2 levels ahead of you… and by the way... from the halfway point forward... every single mission is going to be 3 levels ahead of you
No big deal, levels have been handing out levels…
Surely side missions and encounters and collectibles will do the same.
    They don’t.
XP is so insanely slow in this game and I’m convinced there’s only a leveling system here to slow the player down... to make them do the boring side stuff instead of shoot their way through these hour long main missions….
There’s really nothing else to explain it…
It isn’t to make you more powerful in battle…
Fights are just as hard from the start as they are at the end... Enemies level with you…. And most of the time unless you grind with the boring stuff are even 2 plus levels ahead
And it isn’t to unlock perks or new weapons... because you get all of this from enemies and completing main stories…
You can replay mast missions on hard mode for better loot.. but it rewards to xp at the end which is complete nonsense…
Level requirements for main missions kill pacing…
and the laughably small amount of xp you get for killing enemies which by the way is the exact same you get for killing a boss is even more of a joke.
There’s not a chance you’ll level up mid story mission…
It’s not happening you’re gonna be just as weak in the final boss battle as you were going in…
The combat here is extremely fun though and offers a great deal of variety in its perks, weapons, and mods to make your character feel like yours…
I’m not sure why they smack you with a wall halfway through and force you to do the fetch quest nonsense around Manhattan
The division takes some time to grow on you.. And once it finally does it turns into an unfun forced grind. I Give the Division an 8.0/10

This means the game lacks the reality-based feel of past Clancy titles . Or at least when it comes to the gameplay. The actual premise is somewhat believable; Manhattan becomes the "hot zone" of an outbreak due to a deadly virus spread through dollar bills. As the game begins, the player steps into the shoes of a nameless U.S. government agent who is called to duty. Their goal is to re-establish the operations of the Division, while combating criminals and investigating the nature of the attack. The game's bleak post-apocalyptic setting recalls "The Last of Us", but dramatic storytelling and characterization takes back seat to the action.

Ultimately, this is an open-world shooter that plays a lot like "Destiny" and "Borderlands". There are RPG elements such as loot, crafting, customizable stats and "bullet sponge" enemies. The story-based missions and the city itself are divided into various difficulty levels. And just like in any RPG, you must earn experience points (XP) to level up in order to progress. As you complete missions and optional objectives, you'll gain new abilities and weapons which you can eventually customize. This being a Clancy video game, there are plenty of cool futuristic gadgets you can use. Mini-turrets, blast shields and mine launchers can be obtained with currency you earn as you rank up. But the core gameplay is similar to "Gears of War" in that you can easily slide into cover and blindfire at enemies. It's fun, especially when you play cooperatively with three other players, but the side-missions definitely lack variety.

"The Division" also includes a PVP mode entitled "The Dark Zone" which can be difficult if you're not playing with a group of friends. It's a blocked off area of the city where you can extract rare weapons and items, but you must be prepared to battle tough enemy A.I. and other players for them. It can be a serious challenge; an intense case of risk versus reward, especially since players can turn on you at anytime. Since launch, Ubi Soft has updated “The Division” several times. Additional weapons, challenges and side-missions have been added and the Dark Zone's rules have been slightly modified. Ultimately though, "The Division" is a solid, entertaining action game. It’s not as good as “Destiny” and is more "Call of Duty" than "Splinter Cell", but fans of the Clancy brand should enjoy it. I'd rank it with an 8 out of 10.

The only negative this about The Division is the PVP..during the missions and PvE encounters you use cover and tactics; but PVP seems to always descend into players running around in circles trying to get a shot in with a shotgun. Other weapons in my experience are useless in PvP. I don't really see the point in it.

La interfaz y estética es muy llamativa e intuitiva para cualquier jugador Casual seguidor de juegos Shooter en tercera persona.
Faltan expansiones y más variedad de modos de juegos y misiones como para alcanzar mayor puntuación de momento.

No doubt the best aspect about this game is the state of the art cover system that creates seamless game play. Never before have I experienced a first or third person shooter with such smooth movements from cover to standing fire positions.

The second best aspect of this game maybe how easy it is to play with your friends. Not matter the level or the area of your friends, you will always be able to fast travel to their position and help them out with their missions (beside the dark zone). One of the negative aspects of this (or positive depending how you view it) is how quickly one can level to the max level of 30 by playing with high ranking friends. I myself reached the max level in just 2 days while not completing close to everything on my map.

The biggest question of this game is if its built to last. There are many similar elements to games like Destiny with leveling and weapon systems. But unlike destiny, The Division lacks a defining PVP game mode. The Dark Zone offers a some what watered down version of how players can challenge each other but doesn't offer much in terms of testing your PVP skills. With the ability to reach level 30 in just a few days and the dark zone offering not much more than looting, I'm not sure how this game is going to last. It is possible that the DLC can still save the day for The Division but it would have to include another game mode. Right now, it seems limited to just expanding the map to more of the same.

Overall, this is still a must play game for 2016. It is a very unique game that smoothly combines an open world with action, playing with friends and looting. I just cant see it lasting as long as some of its competitors.

You can not mention this game without comparing it to Destiny. I have both and play both frequently. Destiny is more fun solo because you see others in the area while you are playing. The Division is a lonely game unless you play with others. If you like shooters you will certainly fine something to like in Destiny. *8.5 (Better than Destiny!)

+ Beautiful mid - epidemic New York City environment
+ Gunplay and cover based shooting's excellent
+ Excellent fusing of RPG and cover based shooter elements
+ So much more content in it's Vanilla version than Destiny!

    - Occassional bugs and glitches
    - The Dark Zone's ruthless and difficult
    - Occassional server issues

Tom Clancy's The Division is a game I have long been waiting for, and the main question is if the game lived up to my expectations. From my score of 8/10 you can guess that yes, I liked it, my experience was a very fun one and lived up to a lot of my expectations in providing what I would call a Tom Clancy game. Me being a big Tom Clancy fan, either it be his games or books I have enjoyed a number of games based after his work and The Division is one of them. However, this is not my favorite Tom Clancy game, far from it actually, I feel like Ubisoft and Massive games felt the need to tag on Tom Clancy so it would sell, and sell it did but I can't help but feel disappointed at the fact that I finished the game and immediately wanted more, I actually just stopped playing. The story to the game was pretty good, I loved the idea of sleeper agents, it had its fair share of unique characters like my personal favorite Paul Rhodes. The gameplay was the best part hands down, the cover mechanics was similar to watchdogs with the cover to cover system and really nice shooting effects. The darkzone is a really cool idea mixing RPG looting style with the constant fear of a rogue agent in the mist of you, and even at times your own group. Safe to say I enjoyed the division and excited for what the DLC can bring to the table, if it is anything like Destiny, then the game will just get better and better as time moves on. 8/10 A great experience with somethings holding it back, but as a result the game holds up well and deserves to be known for that Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A Grinding Game with a good story. Whenever I first heard about "The Division" I was just getting burned out of Destiny and ultimately very annoyed with that game., and a lot of people were comparing The Division to Destiny which was making me reluctant to buy or even look at the game to be honest. However after the game released a bunch of my friends picked it up and since the game features co-op I figure I would too. When i saw the premise I thought i was walking into another boring grinding game with little in game story, but The Division proved me wrong. What i got was a game that had a very intriguing story and very fun for me to play in co-op with my friends or by myself to explore the world that Ubisoft has built. There is a lot of attention to detail in the programming which i appreciate such as when you are walking through the snow you can look down and see the Boot prints that you are leaving. Ubisoft has also done a very good job at filling in the blanks of the story telling as to how New York went to hell with the included in game intel files and while yes there are a ton of them for you to collect they all seem to offer some interesting detail about the progression of the Green Poison Virus and the decline of society. While I honestly love this game there are a few complaints as I do seem to run into disconnection issues every now and then (I couldn't log into the game initially when i was trying to start playing but restarting my Xbox fixed that and every other time I've had connection issues) and the game whenever you become a higher level likes to spawn bosses randomly;y throughout the world at not the most opportune times but other than that I think it's a great game and would recommend it too anyone who likes grinding games with interesting stories. If you aren't necessarily a fan of grinding games but you like good stories then I'd recommend renting it from Redbox or Gamefly before purchasing it. Expand

Ubisoft hasn't built a title like this before, and the inexperience clearly shows – The Division seems to be a victim of its ambitions. The good news is that now, games can be updated, and the flaws in the system aren't so thick that they're beyond repair. With proper attention, Ubisoft could easily pivot the game towards the vision it represents. We can only hope that The Division's long-term story is just beginning.

A generous, rewarding shooter with some of the best multiplayer gunplay on Xbox. [May 2016, p.80]

We have a huge city at our disposal, many hours of fun and possibilities of replaying the game either alone or with friends. The Division has become the best-selling Ubisoft IP in the first 24 hours and we are not surprised, it gives freedom to the players and offers them the opportunity to explore this post-apocaliptic world.
