    Very addictive fast flowing shooter.

Graphics are solid and what I would expect for a game of this stature, they are very satisfying to look at.
The pace of the multiplayer game took time to get used too but after a few games you realise how much the game needs to be fast flowing otherwise it just wouldn't be the same.
The weapons are well balanced without any clear winners, each one is suitable for a given situation and there is enough in there to choose from and the modifications are very useful in there own way without making them overpowered.
The titans themselves are something to fear when fighting but you have to think carefully when using your own as they are not overpowered and can easily be brought down when outnumbered this adds some great teamwork as you see players working together with there titans.

The maps are a really good size and doesn't affect that it is 6 v 6 as I think anymore players would make the game too hectic to play.
Also the audio in the game is 10/10 as there are loads of little things that make the gameplay just spot on and so immersing.
The campaign is a bit weak but to unlock the other titans must be played but it does give you an insight of the story of the fight between the militia and the IMC.
Other than the campaign the game is almost the perfect shooter with the DLC supplying fresh maps to keep the game interesting.

Titanfall stopped me from selling my Xbox one. It is fun, different enough, and is really good for a fps. The online play is fun, it reminds me of the first call of duties, before they repackaged the same game's expansion maps as a new game every other week.

Titanfall is everything it promised to be, a fun and addictive first person shooter that brings back the fun to the oversaturated FPS market. The inclusion of new game mechanics such as wall running, double jumping and the titans is what the gene needed. My only gripe is the campaign which is just the same multiplayer modes available rehashed with some real time background story as you play. You won't care for the characters or the story to be honest as you will be too busy looking for the next pilot's neck to break.
The games is so well balanced, and at last I am pleased to say that campers will get there backside handed to them. The burn cards are great variation of perks and only last as long as you are alive, which adds the perfect balance, making sure that people do not have that unfair advantage that COD gives some players, or at least what some people believe.
The titans are in a league of their own, when you hear that "stand by for titanfall", you can't wait to scramble in and kick some butt!! However if you think the titan is the boss of the battlefield, think again. It only takes you to be outnumbered by other titans or for an enemy pilot to be on your back, and suddenly you are not the badass you think you were. Which brings me back to the game being exceptionally balanced, which includes the weapons, of which there is not the variety that you get with other shooters, which I think is a good thing.
All the guns seem perfect and not overpowered, and with the games challenges you are semi forced to try out different weapons, which can surprise you as some guns you would not usually want to play with all of a sudden becomes your best friend.
So in a nut shell, don't listen to some of the negative reviews posted on here as we all know it's the idiot fanboys trying to damage the rep of the game. This is a good fps and was needed to refresh the genre, just look at Call of Duty already taking a leaf out of Titanfall's book and trying to up its game with the double jump etc. Says a lot when the world's most successful shooter of all time is learning new tricks from the new kid on the block!!

    PROS:
Great fresh FPS which makes a new stand in the genre.
    Perfectly balanced
    Titans!!
    And Pilots!
Very complex maps, with levels of all height - you are no safe anywhere campers!!

    CONS:
"Campaign" - Should of been left out to add more maps for example
A bit bare bones in regards to modes and lack of single player
    Story Narrative uninspiring

Best FPS to come out in a long while - will keep you entertained for months to come!!

As you run around killing enemies such as Artificial Intelligence and other Pilots, you reduce the time it takes for your Titanfall, which is a huge mechanical version of your Pilot. The diversity of game play is limitless in its own way. I love how this game introduced a new variation to Death Match game types. Attrition, a game type where you score points called attrition points that can be earned by killing enemy Grunts, Specters, Pilots and Titans. There are also other ways to earn attrition points for a more tactical game play. The game isn't to difficult to play but it does take some getting use to. I was a little discouraged to find out that the Campaign of the game is basically Multiplayer but with a story. You can not play this game without an Internet connection so please keep this in to consideration. More content could of been added to this game upon release but overall, I am satisfied with what is already placed inside the game. If I were to rate balance in weapons, I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10. That's my review. I hope it helped! Expand

A very unusual and interesting concept. This game tries to capture the essence of what a FPS should exceed at, including varied weaponry, a nice array of maps and exceptional game-play mechanics. The inclusion of A.I into multiplier matches brings to life a whole new feeling of global scaled warfare, which makes this game highly desirable. While Titan-fall does bring all these interesting and 'game changing' technology to the modern FPS user-base, it does have some lackluster drawbacks. One of my main concerns is the 'campaign' which more so is just another playlist of multi-player. While this would be beneficial to people to prefer to play a campaign with real players, it was somewhat lacking in player-base numbers making it difficult to find a suitable match. Another minor concern was the actual A.I as them seemed very underwhelming in skill and didn't seem capable of actually inflicting much damage to human pilots.

So first off Titanfall is absolutely gorgeous from the huge yet incredibly detailed set of maps to the character models and the weapons, +1. Titanfall brought parkour and mech combat to the first person shooter genre, something that I think will stay for the long run in this genre, +1. Titanfall's game play is extremely dynamic, taking linear based first person shooters and making them 3D. No longer do you have to worry about some noob sitting in a corner with a shotgun or some **** laying prone in grass with a light machine gun. Titanfall takes the overused concept of first person shooters and makes it new and exciting again by adding dynamic combat systems, I could play this game for hours on end, +1. And now we get to the campaign something which Titanfall is heavily lacking in, despite their best efforts to attempt to include a "campaign" in the form of a game mode in this entirely multiplayer shooter, Titanfall falls short on the story aspect. The reason I am criticizing a solely multiplayer game on its lack of single player is the fact that the multiplayer is already filled with a backstory, if the developers just took a few minutes to come up with a story I think we would have a flawless game here, -1. Obviously as stated the multiplayer is amazing and there isnt much more to be said, +1. Flat out entertainment value is what really matters and this game delivers... almost, the lack of story is what kills it for me, 0. Expand

Titanfall is a very good game! The maps are great, the connection is perfect, the gameplay is very good and fluid, my criticism of the game is due to lack of weapon choices and balancing bad team, not to mention the achievements that are poorly made and sold an incomplete game without all the maps (I know who wants to buy, but it's slutty put the achievements of DLCs to spoil your 1000G)

The multiplayer campaign is over pretty quickly, leaving no impressions whatsoever regarding the story. There basically is none. Graphics are slightly outdated (even on release), but that had to do with the not-so-fresh engine they used and it's not exactly ugly, either. Just some noticeable tearing here and there, but nothing too distracting. Apart from these things, Titanfall is quite a good game. I never liked shooters that much, but this game was and is a lot of fun. I think the controls are nearly perfect, shooting, running, jumping, jet-packing, all the movements feel very balanced and are just a ton of fun. If you liked Quake or any other twitch-shooter, you'll probably like this. If you're more, say, Halo-oriented as far as gameplay and speed goes, you might find Titanfall to be somewhat chaotic. I needed a while to get accustomed to the game's speed but now I feel other shooters to be much too slow and clunky. Mastering the controls is the greatest element of fun in Titanfall. Having a great run of shooting, jumping and wall-running while ordering your titan to drop and then dropping into it seamlessly just feels great. Camping is not an option in this game, which again shows off the good balancing. I still play this and am very much looking forward to the next iteration. This game is cheap on the used game market right now (also cheap on the digital download market), so just try it out. I hope the next one comes for all platforms, so no bad blood between the PC/PS4/XBone users will be found. Expand

Titanfall's biggest problem is a lack of content. The gameplay is excellent, its meat and bones and although several new maps have been added via season pass it is still somewhat light. More customization has also been added along with new modes and it seems Respawn are very much listening to their player base. Its a good start for a new studio.

This game brings a lot of great things to the table like the ability to play as on-ground pilots with parkour style movement or as giant controllable mechs, and there is no point that you are in either that you feel like either isn't a threat to bringing you down. The pilots have a fair amount of weapons to chose from, including ones specifically designed to bring down a titan from a distance. The titans do feel like they lack as far as available weapons. Both titans and on-ground pilots do have some cool abilities to make different styles of game play better. For what it is this game is nearly perfect in my mind, but it's the lack customization that brings it down a bit for me. The only way to alter the appearance of you pilot is really only based on what weapon class that pilot is holding, and the titans really don't really have any kind of visual customization at all. They give you a hint that emblems earned (for meeting certain milestones, just like the Call of Duty games) that you have selected will be seen by other players on your titan, but really it just shows up on your gamer card. In all; the game play is amazing and fun but the lack of customization does leave just that small bit more to be desired. Expand

Titanfall's gameplay holds up as one of the best found in the FPS genre within the last decade, with plenty of inspiration and creativity thrown into the mix. It lacks single player, the AI has got to be a joke, I think they should of spent some time tweaking the AI considering this is suppose to be the new current gen... The shooting and movements are nice albeit it reminds me of Cod and mirrors edge crammed into one game. There is nothing innovative here. Now, the maps in this game are pretty cool, they give 15 maps to play around with, this is very copl of them, but since this game is only online it should be expected,
if this game only had 5 maps it would get boring quickly... I still find this games online aspects are better than CoD, I don't really like CoD much anyway.. As for longevity, there is enough of a ceiling on the skill level (I'm sure some people will love mastering the wall walking) that if you're a fan of the FPS genre in general you can enjoy this game for many months; however, if you were just drawn to this game for the Mech combat it's doubtful this game will hold your interest past a couple weeks. It plays flawlessly, runs at 60 fps barely any glitches if none at all and the servers are fast and efficient. So what they set out to do they did great. The titan fighting feels really cool and something different. The guns feel the same I pretty much used one gun through out the 10 hours I played and it wasnt the smart pistol. The game is a lot of fun, a good callback to the run and gun feeling of older games with nice new graphics and gameplay. The titans add a lot to the normal hiding behind chest high walls, lobbing grenades, and shooting around corners. The titan's AI isn't to bad itself following you and providing a nice distraction or taking care of those pesky bots. The maps provide plenty of space for running, climbing, rockem' sockem' robots fun.

    BUT,

The"Multiplayer Campaign" is pretty sad, not really anything but a small variety pack with most of the variety taken out. The lack of game modes can make the game rather dull a little to quickly. The lack of guns and abilities can wear thin as well. The AI, at least on bots, as everyone else has said is dense. I understand that the point of bots is to mainly cut your titanfall time down and to allow unskilled players something to provide the team with. The graphics aren't terrible like everyone else says, maybe not perfect but definitely not bad.

In summary, it's a good game. Slightly lacking in content but overall fun. I wouldn't suggest buying a console for this game ( buying a console for any one game for that matter ) but it's not terrible like so many reviews have stated.

The parkour ability in this game is generally well implemented, but due to being first person you naturally and occasionally lose your bearings. despite having a apparent resolution of 792p the graphics are generally well done and are fantastically detailed and full of colour. the mech controls feel great to boot and are really responsive, and the amount of things you can do in this game is pretty mind blowing. the guns are fun to use, accurate and look cool as well. you level up as with many games nowadays and you acquire perks/abilities through newly unlocked levels. The only few gripes I have with this game is as many know there is no single player/co-op, when you are in the lobby if the majority of players there are several missions behind yourself, the game will replay a story mission you have already completed, which for me got extremely tedious because I had to replay "there be dragons" chapter 3 times over. And with only a few hours under my belt it has already become quite stagnant and repetitive. Being that there is no single player campaign, there is also no persuasion, storyline, lore, characters, or compelling element to make you play for longer. Not a bad game but not a great one either. The sheer amount of activity in the background, the context driven narrative, the theater of it all combines with the smooth player movement to give it a really good first look. But after several games, it wears a bit thin. It's still a lot of fun, still very novel and innovative. But for a game that hitched its wagon to multiplayer and refused to give us single-player, they make a lot of simple mistakes.

It borrows from the Battlefield format with the hardpoints and vehicular combat, but when each map only has 3 hardpoints in a triangular or linear alignment, your tactical/teamwork approaches are very limited. And it's very easy for a highly skilled player to easily fend off attackers all day. Similar to battlefield, the AI grunts are unbelievably slow and stupid. The map is simply crawling with grunts/specters/militia and they never pose a threat to pilots, I can't remember the last time one of them killed me. And it's really a lost opportunity. I would have much preferred a combat system where AI troops move around the map in force and players are forced to use ambushes, long range strikes, or other clever tactics to take out the AI. Then the PvP moments could be much more visceral traditional multiplayer. But alas, players simply mow down the AI bots by the dozen and in the attrition matchups I can spend the entire match just killing bots and ignoring players with the players only offer 4 points and the bots offer 1, and a bot is more than four times easier to kill than a player. Everything from the bots' oohing and ahhing about you as a pilot, to their pitiful combat skills, to their warnings about a pilot in the area just seem like it's there to boost your ego without adding to the gameplay. The inability to issue commands or interact with the bots at all is also a big let down, and taking the time to hack/convert an enemy bot takes five times as long as it would take to just kill it. It would be great to have bot squads or general orders to order. If you have two hardpoints, maybe the bots shouldn't be rushing in to die at the third hardpoint.

As fun as it is to double jump and wall-run around the map, I don't know that it makes for good gameplay. Sniping is almost impossible and is never worth the time. You'll waste 3 minutes getting to your sniper nest, waiting for someone to show up, and then you'll probably miss, meanwhile each of the guys on the ground have gotten 10 more bot kills on the scoreboard.

Attrition mode is boring mode, and as soon as attrition mode comes on the voice chatter goes silent. There's no strategy in a mass deathmatch. Unfortunately that's how a lot of the game modes feel. Last titan standing, marked for death, etc. all lack any viable team strategy. It's really just best to gang up in a group and unleash a lot of firepower on the target. Players can hack turrets for their side, but these provide only a slight advantage and are far too few to really swing any mission. There's ample room to add more interesting interactive elements like capturing a mortar battery, hacking a system that interferes with the enemy bots, disabling enemy comms, etc.

Having only three titan classes in a game called "Titanfall" is a bit disappointing. Sure they have customizable weapons and secondary abilities, but they just aren't different enough to make a big difference in the game. I would loved to have seen more variety, including artillery titans, smaller exoskeletons that augment the infantry combat, or even flying titans that would change the dimensions of the battlefield.

Finally, the maps just don't feel that different. The views are amazing and I love the campaign voiceovers. But in the end the maps play second-fiddle to whatever the objective is. And unlike Battlefield 1942 where one might have to assault a beach leading to a village next to an airfield, the maps just look shiny and devoid of real content. Atmospheric conditions are few and far between, with just a camera shake momentarily when a cannon fires somewhere. And the campaign characters are always referencing infiltration teams or boarding crews, but we as the player are always just stuck on the battlefield when such special ops moments would really offer a solid change of pace.

Titanfall is a fun game, and it looks amazing. I like having an integrated campaign, but it's too short and doesn't have the replayability of Enemy Territory or Battlefield. It also defaults too readily to the heroic good guys and the evil bad guys. The Aussie IMC commander slaughters civilians while the militia commander sacrifices himself for the good of the cause. I would have liked to see them muddy the waters a bit more on that one. All in all, worth the money, but less than it might have been.

That too was like a breath of fresh air, unless of course you are more interested in cut-scenes then the actual gameplay. The story moves from mission to mission passively, but it's a story nonetheless.
My one and only reason for not being utterly obsessed with this game is it's total lack of offline play. There isn't any. It would be nice to load up an offline game against some bots (which Respawn spared no effort in providing). That's my boo boo. Still a super enjoyable game... until you lose connection.

It's graphics are nothing special and poorly optimized or the PC but it gets the job done. BUT and this is a big but. This game is as bare bones as games get. I think they're are 5 game modes (two near identical) 8 main weapons, 3 side arms, 6 Titan weapons, a couple, maybe three upgrades per gun, 3 Titan types........... and that's really about it. I've already unlocked everything in the game and nearly maxed out my level and it's only been out for a few days. In contrast I'm still unlocking Battlefield 4 weapons. Though there are 15 maps ranging from good to incredible. On top of this it is an multiplayer ONLY game. There is a refreshing and interesting attempt at a "campaign" that is essentially multiplayer matches melded with a short story told through a couple cut scenes and pre match scenes but mostly voice overs done during the match. It is only 9 matches long though. You CAN play it from both the military (IMC) and the rebels (militia.) It's just not enough though. A worthy attempt and actually a rather new and well done idea. It's just not enough. And I think that's what really sums this game up the best. It's fast, fun, balanced, rewarding and something slightly new BUT so bare bones it's hard to find it worth $60 unless this is the only sort of game you play. Possibly some future DLC will add some more depth and features but those features should have already been in the game. There was also a few odd choices when it comes to things like difficulty in playing with your friends, voting on the next map and not being able to browse the servers. The base game is solid and rewards you constantly. Even the odd idea of only 6v6 and incorporating AI soldiers into the matches pays off overall, I think.... Though the AI is probably in all honesty the WORST bot intelligence I've ever seen in a shooter. You WILL NOT die by a grunt or specter. I like this game but feel it's charm and uniqueness fading fast. With all the content already unlocked within a couple days for an ONLY multiplayer game is outrageous and truly disappointing. I can see this feeling like a rip off to some gamers. I recommend this to fans of the FPS multiplayer gaming arena but no one else until it gets at least a 33% price cut. Expand

I like Titanfall, but it is far from perfect. It feels like a Halo/BF/COD hybrid. I like that, but I guarantee some people won't. I think the number of people playing this will peak when the 360 version is released and then decline steadily as people migrate back to more traditional shooters. Just my guess, but wait and see. As for it being revolutionary, not so much. It's got elements of those titles I pointed out plus the mechs. That is the biggest sell for the title. You aren't just running and gunning as a human, but sometimes in a giant beast of a mech that adds a whole different playstyle to the game. The balance of waiting for Titans and the fact they can be brought down by a coordinated human assault makes them a great part of the game. Now for the bad parts. First, sorry but the graphics are just good, not great. Look at the textures up close. Look at the aliasing (better than it was in the beta though) on the Titan cockpit lines. Second, the frame rate is not even close to constant. There have been times it's chugged to a crawl. Usually there's a few Titans involved when that starts happening, but the game is called Titanfall and should handle that a bit more gracefully. Third, the dumb AI bots. I can forgive the 6x6 human element, but the added ground forces are just plain dumb. Shooting at nothing, running around for no reason, etc. Fourth, the lack of a real campaign. The story driven co-op really doesn't cut it. I get that this is primarily a multiplayer game, but why is it $60 like the games that have a story plus multiplayer then? Kind of feels half done to me. All in all, the game is good fun. Everyone should try it before harping about the shortcomings. I think Titanfall 2 will be when this series really hits its stride.

I do enjoy that as a grounded player you can take out a Titan. Playing in the Titan isn't as fun depending on the map as I would have imagined. The target on your back is really huge. My friends and I played through the campaign and we are all asking the question "What did we just accomplish?" and for a $60 game that is as hyped as Titanfall, I shouldn't be asking that. I just felt as I am only getting half a game.

On top of this, the visuals aren't anything to write about and it does suffer from screen-tearing and drop in frame-rate more than expected. Regardless the second two items can be cleaned up with patches. My other gripes is there isn't a lot of weapons or titans to choose from and the maps are rather tiny and I find my titan getting stuck on the environment or other titans way too often.

I still find this game to be good in short bursts as it is very balanced and makes your palms sweat from the intensity but in the end, as someone who prefers Xbox, (I have all systems and a gaming rig) it is a little disappointing with all the hype behind it.

I purchased my Titanfall for XBox One yesterday, and I didn't get a chance to play until last night and this morning. So far, I am loving the game, simply because it is a great game. I love the fact that you can jump-wall, this to me is genius by the developer. Aside from the Titans, this is enough to separate the game from the other shooters in the market. This is what creates franchises and brands. The game is action-packed, and it is suitable for all levels of game play. It feels like a breath of fresh air among the Call of Duty(s) in the world.

That being said, there are a couple of gripes I have about Titanfall on XBox One. The first is with the game, being the bots/minions/spectres. I am not liking these, in fact, I hate them. When I am looking for an opponent, I am looking for a human opponent in a multi-player environment, not artificial intelligence. Maybe I'll like them later on, who knows, but for now, I dislike them.

Second gripe is with the XBox One and being under-powered. Like I said, I own a handful of consoles, and I am not blind to their pros and cons. It's shameful that Titanfall, the most anticipated game this year for the XBox One, cannot run at 1080p (full HD). It is ridiculous. I did some research and apparently it runs at 792p. I mean, what the heck is that? Never heard of such a thing. The Xbox 360 will run Titanfall at 720p, and the XBox One at 792p? You mean to tell me I spent $500 on a console that cannot perform like its next-generation competitor? I love electronic gadgets, so whatever I guess.

Anyway, the game is great overall, and definitely worth purchasing (PC, Xbox 360 or Xbox One).

Same game as other shooters just wrapped up in a different suit. I gave this a 7 because there was nothing bad, nor anything good about the game. After about 12 hours of playing, it got boring and stale.

Really fun online experience. However, I am extremely disappointed in the lack of campaign. This game could have been something really great. As much fun as I am having with it, I am only giving it a 7/10 because I feel it is incomplete. I play games for the full experience and unfortunately the multiplayer is only a portion of the experience.

Matches are fast-paced, weapons seem a little unbalanced, but playing as both pilot and Titan offer several innovative features such as par-core, double-jumping when you play as a pilot, and a variety of neat offensive and defensive weapons when you play as a Titan. Titans aren't overpowered, can be earned easily, and can be killed just as easily. Getting a Titan amounts to getting temporary superpowers or a kill streak. Map design is top-notch as expected. Unfortunately, the low number of human opponents and the high number of rather stupid enemy bots, are real weak points to the game, because it's difficult to distinguish between bots and humans, and mowing down a bunch of bots, who initially have the upper hand on you, just isn't very rewarding. If the matches were 10 v 10 humans (at a minimum) with a few less bots, the longevity of the game might increase significantly.

Graphics: Any reviews you've read saying that Titanfall is beautiful graphically are simply being dishonest. At the highest settings, the game looks comparable to Homefront, is noticeably less impressive than Black Ops II, and is simply put to shame by both Battlefield 3 and especially Battlefield 4. In fact, both Tomb Raider and Battlefield 4 on the PS4 look and run significantly better than Titanfall, at the highest settings, on PC. So if graphics are important to you, Titanfall is definitely not the game for you. Additionally, the color schemes are quite bland with pale green, beige, and light brown schemes without a lot of contrast, which can make it very difficult at times to identify enemies hiding in plain sight.

Verdict: For the casual gamer who enjoys chaotic battles that don’t require a lot of skill or the hard-core gamer who wants the occasional distraction from his or her competitive shooter of choice. While I think the gameplay is good, the game lacks any longevity because of the lack of human players and the abundance of distractive, stupid enemy bots. $60 is definitely about $30 too steep to pay for this game. If you want to play the game on console, my gut tells me that both the XBOX One and XBOX 360 versions will have identical gameplay (hence the delay in launching the XBOX 360 version). So you’re probably better off getting the XBOX 360 version of the game to experience flashes of next gen gameplay, without having to shell out the cash for a new system on the false promise of experiencing next gen graphics, which simply are not part of the Titanfall package.

I played Titanfall extensively over this past week and I'm loving it. I haven't had this much fun in a multiplayer FPS since Call of Duty 4. I really love the mechanics and the parkour of the game as well as the balance between Titan fights and pilot fights. Even though I'm having lots of fun playing this game, it does have some drawbacks that keep it from achieving greatness. First offI played Titanfall extensively over this past week and I'm loving it. Even though I'm having lots of fun playing this game, it does have some drawbacks that keep it from achieving greatness. First off lets talk about the graphics. This is the supposed first next gen title on the Xbox One, but it's running at 729 fps on a ten year old source engine. Although this game will most likely run a lot better on the Xbox One than it's 360 counterpart, I can't help but feel like I'm playing a game from last gen. Graphics aside, the unlocks in the game feel scarce and unrewarding. There aren't many guns, or abilities to choose from which makes me worry that the game will grow tiresome fast, and run out of fresh things to keep me interested. Another thing that keeps this title from really achieving greatness is the fact that everybody hyped this thing up to be the greatest shooter of all time and define the next generation multiplayer shooter. Titanfall doesn't quite do that but it is a step in the right direction. I'm excited to see what Titanfall 2 has in store for us and hopefully it is a greater leap forward. Expand

first off i'd like to say im without any of this console political Bias, i played it on PC and i couldn't care less about those fanboy wars that seem to influence opinion; either being one extreme or the other.

ill start with gameplay, because that's the games core and it sure does excel at it. its unlike anything other in the FPS genre. it isn't striving for BF and is by no means a CoD clone. its a new category all together. The 2 pillars of innovation that make this game fun is mobility and of course the Titans. you can park-our, wall run double jet jump climb on titans move and with speed. this completely changes the "arena style" gameplay. its an unbelievably fast paced twitch shooter, you'll get the feel of breathlessness when you die, but never reluctant to jump (or fall) straight back in. Titans are integrated perfectly there not OP by any means and the means of unlocking them ensures you'll always get at least one a game. they feel well and are as vulnerable to the pilots as they are deadly. you get the feel of a towering beast while all the time staying on your toes. the core gamplay is utterly fantastic.

however that's where TF's pro's end pretty much (which obviously isn't bad though). visuals even on my hefty PC feel lacking. and graphically it feels like COD; something i despise. while not massively important it is a bit of a bummer.

the lack of depth is also disappointing there are about 10 pilot guns and a few less titan guns. where were all the interesting future weapons ? all the automatic guns have very few differences. there isnt a whole ton of ability's and perks either. persistence is almost none existent. apart from the maps (which were all good) if you played the Beta you experienced nearly everything there is. combined with the fact that you'll do everything there is gameplay wise within about 2 matches; getting bored of this is something i'm very concerned about.

Story: or whatever they called that. i realize that this game was built around its new multiplayer but a proper campaign for this had as much potential as Halo. the political struggle, the universe as a hole and some interesting charterers that went flushed out enough for me to give a **** when one of them died. if they adopted the Halo mission style with of course the Titans and the mobility it could have been so good.

overall TF feels like a game which has an ultra strong skeleton (its gameplay) but with with little flesh. which is a stark comparison to the vast bunch of games which layer graphics and other stuff on top of piss poor mechanics and end up as foam rather than the rock that titanfall is. i hope TF2 can include all of my wants though. many people and reviewers simply gloss over the many negatives in this game because of its great core gameplay. the game simply lacks depth. but it is still the most refreshing, innovative, fast paced game ive played in a while, and is a ton of fun.

it just isn't the second coming as many have said while clambering aboard the bandwagon.

This is a fun, solid game, but I feel it's been overrated by the pro critics. I could see if you almost exclusively play competitive FPS, then yes, this game is amazing, game-changing, blah blah blah. There are solid mechanics, a wonderful sense of verticality and speed and much more varied gameplay with the inclusion of your loadout options and the titans. However, nothing here is new if you've played other genres. It does gel a lot of these ideas into a cohesive, solid balance and for that, developers should receive a lot of credit. There's a lot, however, that stops this game from achieving greatness or "bringing us into the next generation" (an overused, undeserved phrase in this case). Let me take this moment to apologize for the overwhelming criticisms I include in this review. There really is a lot of fun to be had here, but that fun is fleeting in the face of the issues. Moving on... First, the graphics. Great, not next-gen. While this is the case for the majority of games on Xbox One and PS4 (but especially Xbox one), Titanfall does nothing to distinguish itself from the pack. Second, a baffling lack of options. I mean, this is 2014. What is omitted here is shocking when you consider the $60 price tag. No character customizations (changing your main weapon changes the look of your character), no ability to choose the map, very few gameplay modes with no customizations options; these are things that FPS vets have had available for years. Third, the complete lack of importance. You can fail a campaign mission and you just go to the next one anyway. By not being able to build a character in any way, there is no real sense of permanence or growth. There is not much that makes me really feel that I'm a player in this world and I can already see there's not much to keep me here a few months from now. It's just something to have fun in for a while. As a whole, the game has the distinct feeling of either being an unfinished product (put out to combat the lack of AAA games in the launch window) or that it was forced on the Xbox One to appeal to mass console gamers rather than beginning its life in the PC market. Recent interviews lead me to believe the latter; this was a game meant for a more specific audience and, ideally, a lower price point. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to love here. But this should not have gone out at $60. There are a couple complaints that are repeated throughout the internet. The lack of a campaign (either single or coop) and the lack of an offline single player. In general, neither of these complaints should be warranted. There are plenty of examples of non-campaign multiplayer (Gotham City Imposters) or online only games (any MMO). In truth, you can play this game endlessly single-player, Very few players actually chat and there's so much going on, it's easy to just solo it on the hectic battlefields. However, in the context of a hyped-up, $60 release for a major console, these issues should weigh heavily in any review or decision to purchase. The campaign is not effective. There are some feelings around that Respawn should be lauded for trying something new in this area, I say, no, because it just doesn't work. I don't know a single person who knows what's going on with the story unless they read it on the internet. That is a clear indication that, whatever their intentions were, they didn't succeed. It feels, again, shoehorned in to appeal to mass console gamers. On that note, there are plenty of examples where the storyline is presented in the midst of playing (Skyrim for one).
The bottom line: great game, you'll likely have fun playing it. But don't buy at full retail. Get the bundle, wait for the price drop, or wait until enough content has been added to justify the price (which may not actually happen). As it stand, I have to score this with the price and content presented.
On a related note: the ping for Hawaii is horrible. Yes, I know we should be used to it by now given that no company has fixed this issue. But I say nay! There are solutions to this problem (both in terms of programming and hardware) so that we can play on level playing field, but as it is, if you're in Hawaii and you want the most fair game, you're restricted. Play Hardpoint with and against other Hawaii players to have an enjoyable time. Otherwise, expect that you'll need to unload magazines into enemies to kill them and be prepared to die all the time. And yes, I know other areas of the world have the same issue. Which is all the more reason why the developers and EA should be more active in balancing out the situation.

Between the high mobility offered and the mixture of Titan combat, this game is definitely a refreshing break from the usual first person shooters offered. The Titans that are available offer a simple trinity. The Ogre is the big slow one. It can take more damage but is pretty sluggish. The Stryder is the opposite, offering increased mobility at the expense of durability. The Atlas falls somewhere between the two, a jack of all trades. All three are balanced and I didn't find that one held the advantage over the other two. Infantry combat is a different matter. Maybe it was just me but I found that the standard R-101C was a little overpowered. It's almost too versatile. If you learn to control the miniscule amount of recoil it has it's basically a laser beam. I could beat snipers at long range with my higher rate of fire. Beat an SMG up close with my increased damage. After using all of the guns I found the Carbine is really the only one you need. Makes the gunplay pretty dull and predictable. All the maps are good and diverse, they all fall between Call of Duty and Battlefield sized. Good amount of game modes, but I was kind of disappointed when I found out the standard mode, Attrition, is just a matter of who kills the most bots. Then I went and played Pilot Hunter, which is your standard TDM and for some reason didn't have as much fun. Killing bots and players is kind of fun actually, almost reminds me of some kind of FPS MOBA game. The game also offers "burn cards". You earn them based on how well you do in a game. The better you do the more you get. Then you can take three into each match. They're basically a perk that only lasts for a life. So you pick one on the respawn screen, an amped R101C for example, which is just a better version of the gun and you get to keep it until you die.Card goes away, you can pick another on your next life, etc. I'm not too fond of this system and found myself just ignoring this feature entirely. I think it would have been better if I could just pick one that lasts all game despite deaths. The game offers your standard challenges, Get kills with this gun, win 30 games, etc. The game also offers 10 generations, "9 prestiges" basically. Hit level 50, go to Gen 2. Hit 50 again, go to Gen 3. On each Gen you get extra exp, which I appreciate. Gen 2 has 110% exp, Gen 3 has 120% exp, so on. I also like that Respawn integrated challenges with each Generation. So for example, on Gen 3, in order to go to Gen 4, I've got to complete the C.A.R. SMG challenges, complete the Plama Railgun (a Titan weapon) challenges, and complete a Satchel Charge (C4) challenge. Overall the game is refreshing, but there are certainly flaws. After the charm wears off, it doesn't feel like there's a whole lot of depth. I think there's a lot of potential in a game like this and hopefully Respawn will continue to develop the franchise and improve on this formula. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Full of advantageous features that relatively quickly become a disadvantage to the Titanfall Title. This is one of the easiest games to pick up and play. You will be wall running through the maps wielding guns reminiscent of the halo series while blasting both the AI and human opponents. The ease of the gameplay in ways feels rewarding but there is no sense of accomplishment. Which many people are sure to say, why would I feel a sense of accomplishment from a video game. And for those people this does not apply. But. The majority of people that can achieve this feeling while playing a video game are sure to be let down. The weapons are well balanced. But even this can quickly add to the population of boringville. There just is not enough weapons nor weapon customizations. The graphics are pretty good for being such an early next gen console game. It is nice to be able to play a next gen fps without all of the technical problems the others are currently having. But at a certain point, it is not enough. The audio is ok but there is nothing special about it. In a way, this game feels like a throwback to counterstrike that somehow got bred with Halo. It is a fun game to play but very quickly you will have nothing to unlock and nothing to master. I suggest playing the demo/beta first. Understand that this demo/beta is the game up to level 14. And that if you are bored of the demo after a couple of hours, you are already bored with the full title. What about those burn cards? Playing matches awards in game enhancements that are called burn cards. These enhancements range from upgraded weapons to wearing suits that make you appear like an AI character (my favorite). Before a match you can equip three burn cards you have previously received. These three cards are the only cards you will be able to use during that round. You can have a maximum of 26 cards in your inventory at which point you will no longer receive cards that are awarded to you. For some reason it doesn't feel like 26 is enough cards but If you were to not receive any cards for the next nine games, you would be able to use 3 cards a game for 8 games and one game with only two. This would make any rational person realize that this IS enough cards. But i can not be led to feel this way. I instead feel that this one part of the game where excess could be easily rationalized is brought to nearly the same level as the weapon selection. Would it be easy to give us more cards to select from? Yes. Would it make most people happier to have more cards to choose from? Yes. Would you still only be able to bring 3 cards to every game? Yes. Would a larger card cap possibly prevent premature balding from pulling your hair out when you complete a hard challenge that rewards rare cards that you won't even get the option to see, let alone give you the option to replace cards from your current inventory. Yes. Would it give anyone a huge advantage? No. So I have a hard time seeing why this 26 card cap is in place. There is another part of this game that would make this review incomplete if not mentioned. That part or concoction of mechanical parts Hammond Robotics has fictionally put together... the Titans. There are three Titans to choose from. You have the light weight, easy to maneuver and lightly armored, the mid weight, not too sluggish, not too fast medium armor, and the heavy weight, sluggish, I hate to run in gym class with heavy armor. There are a limited selection of weapons for the titans also. Some even void of upgrade options. The mechs... oops... absolutely original Titans are well integrated into the game. You will be jumping in/on/over/under them in no time. As well as controlling them to take out your opponents. But to be clear, you do NOT have to control your Titan. You can put it in guard or follow mode and let the AI take control while you fend off attacking enemies. Overall this game is well put together and fun to play but it is not the game changer we were promised. Expand

A lot of people say it is like call of duty, and to be honest it is very similar, but I personally have always been a fan of the call of duty franchise and this game is a slight upgrade in gameplay. However the game extremely lacks in contact, While having a large map count, the amount of customization is quiet disappointing. For being a multiplayer only game I would have expected more than about 10 weapons, half of them being awful compared to the others. There is a low perk count and even the weapons themselves have almost no attachments to chose from. Having an extreme lack of content, but having great gameplay, which is very important, I give this a 7. I would sadly probably still play call of duty over this game because it has more content. I'll keep this review brief and informative with bullet pointed pros and cons:

    Pros:
-Titans are cool. Titans are fun to use. Titans just feel awesome
-The parkour style movement is easily this game's strongest point. It's just downright silly fun
-The gameplay is responsive and solid feeling
-The game rewards skill with success, if you're good, you will perform well
-The game punishes badness with failure, New concept: If you're bad, YOU ACTUALLY LOSE. WOAH! I could rant for days about this. I am so SICK AND ******* TIRED of the current FPS environment slowly removing skill from the equation. I won't though...deep breath.
-Burn cards are a very fun feature
-The graphics are for the most part, excellent.
-The autopistol is ACTUALLY balanced. I'm astounded by this, really.
-Comes FREE with the X1 bundle

    Cons:
-The game has almost ZERO aim-assist, or "target magnetism" This is a HUGE problem considering the constant double jumps and speed of players. It's brutal.
-Too many titans, too often. You're either in one, or taking one out. Person to person combat is too rare.
-The level design is bad. Most levels don't complement the parkour movement system usefully.
-Not enough guns. Again, NOT ENOUGH GUNS. DOUBLE the amount and it would be alright.
-Sniper rifles are a terrible choice, people move too quickly to even consider hitting most times.
-Shotguns don't get enough range OR damage to be of use in most situations.
-Satchel Charges/C4 are immensely overpowered against titans.
-Some burn cards are game-breaking. (free ogre titan at 00:05 anyone?)
-The game gets stale very quickly, there's not enough to accomplish beyond just winning a match.
-The "prestige" or "generation" system contributes nothing. I'll say that again, you get NOTHING.
-The story line needed more backstory, or to just be removed. I can't comprehend the need for a storyline in a multiplayer environment. JUST PLAY FOR FUN! Especially considering you don't pick your team in most situations. It's just silly. Depth is for a campaign, multiplayer is about competition.
-The kicking melee is just silly. It should only happen when you're jetpacking through the air. Otherwise it should be some sort of blade.

    Summary:

This game had all the potential in the world to be great, but it just didn't deliver. There isn't enough content to keep the player coming back. Once you've reached max level the first time around, you have pretty much experienced Titanfall in its completeness. Titans are far too common and the game in its entirety seems to consist of either killing titans, being in a titan, or being killed by a titan.

If this game had a no-titans game mode I would raise this review to an 8/10. As ironic as that is, this game would be vastly improved by having LESS TITANS in it.

The game simply has no depth beyond a match-to-match win or loss. Once a game is over, it ceases to matter. There are no long term goals, and there is no way to show off your prowess in the lobby, or on your 'playercard' beyond your rank...which simply amounts to "time played".

What would further improve the environment of play:
-More guns (it gets stale exponentially faster than other games due to the woefully inadequate selection)
-Make shotguns and snipers a non-irresponsible choice of weapon
-ADD AIM ASSIST, at least on par with Halo's. If there ever was a game that needed it, this is the game.
-Add an endless game mode (an endless deathmatch lobby where players come and go as they please, match bonus is received upon leaving.)
-Add some sort of accolade or trophy system ingame. Give players a "playercard" where they can show off their most impressive accomplishments. This is something that, until recently, Call of Duty has done very well.

The very first thing you'll know about Titanfall it's very simple. Easy to aim, your Titan comes every two min, (No really, you don't have to do nothing to get your titan) the bots just kneel down and shoot and their accurancy sucks. The objectives are very easy too. The hardest thing they had to offer was the training. Let's talk polish. The designers really knew what they were doing. I was expecting the game to have a bunch of bugs and loading problems, but there wasn't many problems in this department. I never got stuck. This did well for an Online game. The graphics weren't really mind blowing, but animations were great. The graphics aren't BF4's level at all though. The gameplay is very fun at first. But man! After playing it for 30 minutes, you'll be so bored of it that you might comeback to it in a week. Even COD Ghost has more reply value than this. The Campaign was just stupid. They should of made it better, and kept it offline instead of forcing people play with other people. People don't even play the campaign. Not much else to say about this point.

This game is great, but it was very overhyped. Titanfall isn't the next thing in first person shooters. It has nothing on Battlefeild, Halo, or COD. I would recommand to buy it, but don' expect to be blown away.

Firstly let me address some of the criticisms that have been levelled at Titanfall.

A lot has been said about the lack of game modes, whilst the options initially where quite limited they where all fun and incredibly well balanced and worked well.
Since release Extra game modes have been added on a rotation system starting with the quite fun Marked for death, where one player on each team is marked as a target and everyone elses goal is to hunt them down.
They have also added some variety pack options just like cod which cycle game modes. Also they have enabled and improved private lobby’s.
All of this has been done with free updates along with a ton of minor tweaks and bug fixes based on community feedback.
Seeing as lack of game modes and private lobby’s have been some of the biggest criticisms I thought that was worth mentioning.

Now a lot has been said as well about the lacklustre campaign and I’ll agree a proper campaign would have been nice but for me it’s more about what is there rather then what’s not.
And make no mistake what is there is some of the most ridiculously fun and inventive multiplayer I have played in a long time. Titans are awesome and the pilots parkour skills really do add whole new dimensions to the tired cod formula.
I love COD a lot. However even I have become jaded with how repetitive it has become as a whole.
Let me tell you right now the words tired, repetitive or boring have no place in the Titanfall dictionary. The controls are silky smooth and the frame rate is solid, I have yet to experience any lag, slow down, screen tearing or noticeable frame rate dips as some players have reported.

The Pilot movement mechanics are simple and easy to pick up while quite literally adding a whole new dimension to the traditional cod formula. Sprinting along walls, double jumping through windows whilst exploring the huge multi tiered maps is some of the most exciting gameplay I have experienced in an online shooter. Ever. Strategically you have a whole new world of map exploration, flanking tactics and general sneakiness to explore. Whilst the movement mechanics are definitely a breath of fresh air in an increasingly stale genre the underlying shooting mechanics are as well balanced and precise as any iteration of cod has managed. Which is to be expected seeing as most of the major players in Titan Fall also worked on Cod 4 Modern warfare.

All of this before you even call down your giant metal buddy from the sky for some titan based mayhem. Oh the titans!
I can not understate just how much fun it is climbing in to your titan and causing mayhem across the large and varied map offerings.
What really impresses is how said titans never feel like they unbalance the core gameplay, it all works so well and is so finely balanced that titan on titan combat or pilot on titan or pilot and titan vs titan combat is never les then exhilarating.

Want to stomp around the map launching homing missiles and squashing puny pilots under your giant metal feet, go for it. Want your titan to guard a choke point or hard point, you got it. Want the freedom to wall run and double jump around the map with your titan watching your back from the ground, feel free.

The combination of titan and pilot load outs, whilst not reaching the dizzying variety of options as say Black Ops 2 are all finely tuned and well balanced to cater for a variety of different play styles.

Stealth, run and gun, cautious and tactical? However you like to play Titan fall can accommodate.

Nothing quite compares to the first time you beat an enemy titan to near death and then reach out ripping the lifeless pilot from his cockpit to be discarded like a broken toy.

    Verdict

Titan fall is a good looking if not mind blowing shooter with excellent and refreshing movement mechanics, well thought out and challenging map design and an overall air of polish, precision and importantly well balanced gameplay.
No matter how you choose to play, Titanfall will entertain, challenge and engage in a way that many long time cod fans (myself included) have been waiting for.

Titanfall may not reinvent the wheel when it comes to online shooters but it definitely adds Four wheel drive.

What are you waiting for Pilot! Prepare for Titanfall.

That isn't to say Titanfall is without a learning curve, but new players trying to get a feel for the game won't feel singled out or face excessive frustration picking up the nuances of the game. Titanfall showcases parkour and level verticality as its defining differentiators. Levels are clearly planned specifically for these new mechanics. The fluid parkour system successfully allows pilots to fully explore and exploit their environments in a surprisingly graceful manner. Titans and Pilots have been precisely balanced, so whether playing as a Pilot or a Titan you never have total advantage over the other. As polished, fast and fun as the game is, it became repetitive and stale to me rather quickly. After completing the lackluster campaign and regenerating multiple times, the game failed to hold my interest. I must admit I stopped playing before the release of any DLC, and that well may provide incentive for players to continue. The game was well polished, fast paced, and provided a refreshingly unique take on a largely stale genre. I most certainly had my share of exciting moments in TItanfall, and encourage others to play. I played this game for about two weeks to give it a real chance when it first came out, now it just clogs up my XB1's hard drive, Stupidly bought the digital version, oh well lesson learned.

But in saying it is revolutionary, it has sacrificed something that a game of $60 should include, a decent campaign. The campaign is one of the worst, if not the worst campaigns I have ever played. It is repetitive and annoyingly linear, with no matter how well you play or don't play, you will win or lose the match depending on what the campaign decides for you. The world of Titanfall interested me so much, and I was so let down as on one level you see a space battle, but you are forced to leave this awesome place, for no other reason then the fact that EA pushed this game. The graphics aren't a let down in such as the world does look interesting and on some maps spectacular as the textures really work well, even though it is not on 1080p. Finally the customization. The customization is adequate for pilots, but definitely not so for titans. It is adequate for pilots as like any other shooter, you find your favorite few guns and accessories and you use them. But for the customization for titans is a joke, with only 3 titans and only 4 weapons.

The game manages to introduce a balance to everything fairly well. It rewards players for doing well with points and cuts off pieces of time from a timer that will send your titan. Although all players can still get a titan.
Although the gameplay and multiplayer run smoothly, the game is a very polished game that is from a startup company. There is only multiplayer, and nothing else. Not to mention this had a retail release price of $60 for only multiplayer, and a multiplayer with limited game modes. The "Campaign" is essentially a new be multiplayer lobby with "story" overlaid in the background sounds, and the story isn't very clear or interesting either. The game has multiple dlc's that add features, but cost $9.99 (although thankfully less than call of duty)

This game has a smooth fun, innovative, balanced, multiplayer, but has limited features and is only online and contains a rough story and isn't worth $60. This game has only one trick, and even though it is a good one, It doesn't warrant game of the year material.
This game shows tremendous promise from the developers as this is there first game.

This game is vastly overrated. 86 is simply way too much with a game with no campaign. Other than that, this game is pretty good. If you were going to buy an Xbox One for this & this only, save your money. This game is on PC & 360 as well and the gameplay is basically the same on both. It is a really fun game, however once you get to 8th or 9th prestige, it gets old.

It has it's flaws no doubt, limited amount of weapons/customization options, annoying random server disconnects and no single player campaign. It's a multiplayer package plain and simple, the gore included in this is often overlooked too, shooting someone with an arc cannon (a big titan weapons which fires a concentrated bolt of electricity) just to see their body exploding into a fantastic red mist, yes, delicious.

Unfortunately it just lacks replayability, whether or not that is down to the absence of enough quick sc0p3z to fill a youtube montage or the single player campaign, it just feels like it cannot keep your eyes glued to the screen for more than a couple of hours.

On the good side, it is fast paced action and the mechs do make you feel very powerful but at the end of the day this is just COD with mechs.
