Flat out amazing! The more time I spend with this game the more the subtle strategic nuances become apparent. An actual story (granted it's skinny) unfolds as you play various forms of objective based modes against the opposing team. This is really fun and something I hope to so more of from other developers. As for everything else it is simply fantastic. It's great fu to mix up your tactics with your titan and use them to act as your guardian while you run about on foot and then jump in to make a quick escape from the heat of battle. The only thing preventing me from giving this game a solid 10 is the lack of a true single player campaign but I am willing to overlook that with so much other goodness being brought to the table, the FPS genre has truly changed and taken a step forward. Can't recommend it enough, whichever platform you choose just get it and enjoy! Expand

This is a great game that brings new life to the fps genre. It does feel like call of duty for the controls, but I have no problems with that. I am only taking one point though because you do not have to play the campaign and there are still a decent amount of unlocks (it just needs more). I have had a lot of fun with this game. I highly suggest picking it up. Expand

Great game! It is a very fun FPS with very balanced gameplay. It is very worth getting either on the XB1 or PC. No single player which is fine, I buy games like this to play online so that doesn't bother me a bit. If you are on the fence about getting it, watch some Twitch videos..there are plenty of live streams.

All these negative reviews are ludicrous. I find most of the complaints revolve around peoples hopes and expectations, not judging the game on its own merits. Waaah no single player, wahhh its call of duty, waaah I wanted the second coming but all I got was this solid well balanced and fast shooter.

For my part I am really enjoying the game. Its fun, has variation from other shooters which makes it fresh, parkour, titans, custom configs for pilots and titans, burn cards. All really well balanced and polished. I had similar thoughts and concerns to others about the lack of a single player campaign, but Ive let that go to enjoy the multiplayer and haven't been disappointed at all.

I'm chuffed to bits: the game looks great and I can run it on my laptop. Oh My God, this game is epic. Finally we have a multiplayer game with incredibly well balanced gameplay mechanics. Nothing is broken. They even managed to avoid perk abuse with the Burn Cards : you choose three of them from your personal deck before a game, and you lose whichever one you activated when you die.

Being in a titan does not make you completely invulnerable against infantry (yet you have the advantage), and being as infantry, you won't get crippled down by titans if you can just be a little smart. What makes it really attractive, is that you don't need to kill or play objectives to get your titan faster, but simply damage your opponents (AI or players). That way, no kill steal nor abusive teammates will prevent you from getting a titan, and everybody will get at least one during each game.

You can even build some strategies, since your titan's built-in AI can guard areas or follow and assist you.

Realisation is great, yet not as (purely) technically great as RYSE when it comes about graphics, but still, textures are sharp, antialiasing does a very fine job, and models are very well-designed. Sound effects are completely credible, and the overall ambiance is astounding. The parkour abilities are so intuitive, you won't take long at all getting used to it.

And I have to say, 6 vs 6 is just what it needs. The AI is here to balance things up, allowing overwhelmed teams to catch up when really in need. And most impressively, it makes camping difficult since they practically are everywhere, trying to slow you down (but not really hurting you), in order to keep dynamism in gameplay.

Yet, I can't give it a 10/10 because it really lacks a true solo campaign. I understand why they had rather implemented a scenario within multiplayer shaped games in order to create a campaign, but I really don't think it would've been impossible to have a true solo campaign.

Long story short, this game has reinvigorated my love for FPS games after I had grown tired of the yearly CoD and couldn't grasp the grandiose scale of BF4 (my history for the BF franchise goes back to BF1942, BF2, and BF2142 so I was sad that I lost a step haha). Yes, there's no single player, yes there are features missing, but from what I could tell, the developers at Respawn spent a large chunk of their time meticulously refining the core gameplay mechanics, ensuring weapons and abilities are balanced and not overly saturated (having 50+ weapons does not imply you're game is good), that parkour isn't just some jumping off walls mechanic that's haphazardly thrown in just for a cool effect, and the battles between titans and pilots can have the same outcome as a titan vs. titan battle, despite the odds in the David vs. Goliath type matchup. That in itself is what sold it to me and I am perfectly ok with a solid FPS game as opposed to areas that may be broken just to add that extra layer of fluff that everyone expects now that they have been used to CoD and BF, which is totally fine by the way, I don't blame anyone for feeling like the game feels "incomplete," that's your opinion. :)

Anyway, I strongly recommend this game. I've logged almost 13 hours playing the past two days and can't get enough of this. This is the first title that all my friends and I love unanimously and play together and I don't see us slowing down one bit with future map packs and other enhancements that Respawn has promised thus far (I have read Vince Zampella's Twitter account and so far he has confirmed that Private matches and Class Loadout renaming will be coming, so you know that they're acknowledging our feedback). I would have given it a 10, but I have given a 9 because yes like you, I enjoy a story, and I do love the inclusion of Campaign Multiplayer, however I had a really hard time trying to follow the story and was hoping for some additional cutscenes or maybe in-game "events" that would affect gameplay and allow you to understand how you are progressing the story. With that said, I do want to learn more about the lore of Titanfall and if anything, the game has introduced me to that.

Congrats to Respawn for such an amazing game, especially as a start-up development studio, and I hope this is just the first of many. Looking back to the jump from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (multiplayer that is), I can see where they're going and I am very excited about the prospects.

I know some people were having issues with the servers, but doing a hard reset on my console and on the consoles of everyone I've spoken with seems to resolve all server issues.

I love that Titanfall is so well balanced and nothing feels overpowered or complicated. Everything about the game is intuitive and responsive.
The campaign may be hard to follow, but it's there and pretty epic if you pay attention to it. You get to play from both sides of the war between the Militia and the IMC. It may be lacking in story, but the game play exceeds the need for a AAA story.

No matter how small you may feel in the battle you always have a chance to survive and keep fighting. I will say that the bots in-game are a little annoying as it is hard to tell if it is a bot or an enemy (unless looking at the radar) and you can find yourself shooting a bunch of bots and end up getting killed by a real player.

All in all the game is a great new style that brings great aspects from other games and adds its own twist.

I am a PC gamer and I own an Xbox one. I bought the game for the One instead of PC as I do enjoy more arcade like shooters on a controller.

First, this game is fantastic, and not because of E3 hype or COD roots. I was a large fan of CoD4: MW and MW2, but stopped there as I agreed with the creators that the direction CoD was going was bad. I also enjoy slower and harder experiances such as DayZ, STALKER, X-Com on Impossible Ironman...and let me lay to rest your fears. This game is not casualized, what it does is strike a fine line between pleasing hardcore players, but easing in weaker players into becoming better. The bot AI does indeed suck, but the balance of having bots and players adds ambiance to the environment and made the maps feel more like a war zone. This depth is great and is something I look for when I game, depth and immersion..,games like New Vegas, STALKER, Metro 2033, Amnesia: TDD, Skyrim all do this in various ways and being a parkouring pilot with smooth transition between ground and wall running to manning a 30ft mech is amazingly crafted. This game stands on gameplay alone but adds in loadouts and a lot of gear for a ton of variety...is it as much as BF4? No, that is a different beast all together.

The gameplay is smooth and incredibly balanced. No OP weapons or loadouts, but great gear making you feel powerful. Each death I learned but never felt cheated. The tactics for running mechs adds a third layer to the parkour and traditional shooting, and the fact it is a Source engine build makes the gunplay tight and responsive. The graphics are very good, do not be decieved by again neighsayers. Do note however that though this is a review for the next gen system, the fact that it is hitting Xbox 360, much like many new gen titles, means that both Sony and Microsoft are playing it safe as are production studios. No one is truly exploring the new machines yet and seeing what is possible, and much like last gen, there will be an infancy stage to get hings rolling. However, though graphically nice, Titanfall is affected by this play-it-safe attitude, but only there. The gameplay is truly next gen and amazing, they did not play it safe, created an idea, used a new engine compared to CoD's, and they succeeded. Get the game, I'll see you in game gents.

So, for the meat. This game has amazing mobility, that is extremely fluid on the PC. The game runs amazingly well. It has a great balance, and your actions seem to really matter. The game builds you, from the ground up, as a hero. From being able to run like a mad man all over the place, to farming grunts, to being able to bring down Titans. You and the other players are the heros.

The game has some issues that need fixed. It needs a much better match making system.
There are only a handful of guns. I see this as a strength and weakness. It allows for great balance, but at the cost of customization.

Most issues are fairly minor. I really do enjoy this game..

Not to mention the starting assault rifle is the "best" gun in the game. Any gunfight I have lost was because I was out played by the other pilot. No other problems since at all. I live in Oklahoma, so perhaps this is a regional thing. I've also experienced no issues with anything else related to Xbox Live. I'm surprised, I even had problems connecting during the Call of Duty free Weekend most of the time.

Next, the game. You know enough about it. I love it. The game is so smooth, you'd never notice any of these so-called framerate issues that likely plague the unoptimized PC version. I played on both Xbox One and PC during beta and can attest to the fact that at least with my 7970, during online matches Titanfall was unplayable with v-sync on and to much screen tearing, more than X1, to the point I couldn't stand it. Besides, a game like this is meant for a controller and I couldn't see myself using a kb+m for this.

Lastly, only thing keeping it from a 10 are the commercials. The problem? They are great. The Titan intros and the my buddy commercials. You'd almost think this game's story mode would have loads of humor in it like Portal mixed with Call of Duty/Gears of War. The story is less understandable than all of the CoDs up to Ghosts, which is hard to do. If I play this for 30 or 40 hours it would have been worth the money. I'll wait to see what the season pass has in store. As long as it's not 5 maps total, I'll get it. Maybe they should make another campaign with the season pass with a better story and drop those maps into the classic rotation.

For a genre that has become increasingly stagnant and commercialized (CoD, Battlefield, Halo) Titanfall is a welcome addition. It doesn't recreate the genre, but it certainly makes it fun again. The gameplay is fast (really fast), and urges you to keep moving and use the verticality of the maps to your advantage - this is not a linear shoot'em up game. The jetpack and wall running make moving around the map advantageous as you try to out maneuver the competition and get the drop on them. The cool down timer for your Titan is chipped away at every time you shoot something - another player, titan, or the minions/spectres that even out the playing field - which means you need to be active to bring your titan into the game quicker. That means less camping and more traditional gun fights like Unreal Tournament or Halo 2. It works well and keeps the pace moving throughout the match. It's more than just 'CoD with Mechs', it's a well thought-out IP that lives up to the hype. Titanfall isn't without its flaws (no private matches, lack of customization, connection issues, no story/campaign), but those can be easily fixed with patches/updates in the near future. The game is impressive and certainly worth getting if you're looking for a departure from the status quo FPS' of the last 10 years or so. This is a must have for any XboxOne owners. Expand

Pursuing a retreating Pilot over the walls of the city, double jumping from building to building as you slowly gain more and more speed, before delivering a deadly jump kick to the head...
It is these moments, completely unscripted and unconstrained that can (and will) take place anywhere at anytime that make Titanfall feel like a shooters equivalent to opening the windows on the first day of spring after a long, long winter. It is a complete and utter breath of fresh air.

The gameplay is fast, frantic and fun. It combines elements that really shouldn't work together in amazing ways. Core shooting mechanics from a well made twitch shooter, just without the insta-death. Jetpacks and parkour that makes traversing the map quick and seamless, and of course, mech-shooter mechanics with the incredible Titans.

Visually Titanfall is not the prettiest game on the block, but it can definitely hold it's own with a steady 60fps on the Xbox One and detailed textures throughout the almost 20 maps.

The game is purely multiplayer, and is divided into only 6 modes, ranging from your standard TDM and Domination, to Last Titan Standing, which as the name implies, makes you try and keep your Titan alive.
There is a "campaign" in the game, but it merely consists of 9 multiplayer matches that feature some voice overs and video recordings of people who are apparently important.
It was a bit of an oversight to include some kind of story while the match is taking place as it is essential to focus on what you are doing.
A few pages of back story explaining why the two factions are at war would have sufficed to say the least.

One of the things that came to my attention after but a few matches, was that Titanfall does a great job at making you feel like you contributing to the team and doing well, even if you end up in the middle of the leaderboards. It didn't take me long until I was bringing in a few MVP medals, but even if that hadn't been the case, it felt good just playing support for the team and hanging back in defense.

At the end of every match the losing faction will have a chance to escape from the map. A time of 30 seconds starts and a drop ship swoops down to pick up any remaining players. However, any surviving members of the winning faction can also make their way to the Evac zone, and take out the drop ship and/or as many players as they see running for their lives.
These moments were both fun and tense, as the respawns are deactivated.
Being on the winning faction and punching an attempted escapee out of the air in your Titan feels great, but being part of the losing faction and ejecting out of your Titan just in time to jump into the drop ship before jumping to lightspeed and seeing both the battlefield and planet disappear behind you feels amazing.

Titanfall is an utter triumph. It's addictive as hell, and it's the first game in a long time that has utterly sucked me in and has not yet let me go.
Is it the "CoD killer" or the "next big thing"? Only time will tell. But as long as Titanfall maintains a loyal fan base, as well as the already promised addition of new game modes and map packs, the game and potential series may have a bright future ahead of itself.

    A 9 out of 10.

The shooter we've been waiting for lives up to the hype. Fast, fluid, intense. It's missing a few modes and features at launch but all those things can easily be patched in. What's here at launch is an incredible, ridiculously balanced online multiplayer experience.

If you're curious about the game, play it for yourself, you will fall in love with your titan.

Despite my praise the problem here is that it is only multiplayer only and with the player base having moved on to new things there is only one game mode still accessible and the people who still player generally fall into two categories new and testing it out or veterans who will leave you endlessly frustrated. The game is so cheap now that it may be worthwhile picking up and giving a run but the level of enjoyment is no longer there with the limitations of a shifting multiplayer market. Expand

The Titanfall I think is a very fast-paced and exciting multiplayer game. Many game modes, weapons and maps on the game. The graphics are very nice. Once or twice had to be a bit erratic. If you had a good campaign in it, you deserve smoothly, the 9 points. However, so only worth 7 points.

Titans are strong and versatile yet enough options to distinguish and fair balance between the three. Customization are slim picking compared to other shooters but with DLC , and newer installments of the franchise, expect it to be loaded like no other.

The follows pretty basic game modes from CTF, to TDM, to last man standing. There's enough to go around but still leaves room to be desired.

Titanfall has no right to be this good. It comes from a team who was originally a Call of Duty machine, it's exclusive to Microsoft platforms which are currently losing the battle for Next Generation dominance, and at it's core, it's a first person shooter trying to blend the fluidity of Call of Duty, traversal of Mirror's Edge, and mech combat of popular franchises such as Armored Core orTitanfall has no right to be this good. It comes from a team who was originally a Call of Duty machine, it's exclusive to Microsoft platforms which are currently losing the battle for Next Generation dominance, and at it's core, it's a first person shooter trying to blend the fluidity of Call of Duty, traversal of Mirror's Edge, and mech combat of popular franchises such as Armored Core or the recently released PC exclusive Hawken. What's so shocking is that Titanfall shouldn't be underestimated as it takes all of these different and strange elements and fuses them into one of the greatest multiplayer experiences ever crafted.

Titanfall's plot isn't going to win any awards for itself. The Campaign mode is presented to the player in a series of pre game exposition shots and dialogue, where as the gameplay is simply a multiplayer match with that very same exposition unfolding in the background. This style of story telling falls mostly flat in the game due to the kinetic and chaos filled gameplay in the forefront. You're already to busy jumping onto Titans, running along walls, and breaking necks to take notice of the character dialogue being shouted at you. What makes this campaign weaker is how it unfolds. The campaign is over within three hours for both sides which allows most players to play it once and never return, but don't think you can just skip it, you're going to need to beat each side at least once if you want to unlock the Stryder and Ogre Titan Chassis.

Another weakness of Titanfall are the graphics. Titanfall runs on a heavily modified Source Engine (Yes, THAT Source Engine) and it shows. On the Xbox One, jaggies are rampant at times, textures are low resolution, and the framerate goes from 60 to 40 when the action heats up. The counter to this is the beautiful art style and map design which stuns you with vibrant colors and metallic buildings. This serves as a viable distraction to the otherwise shoddy looking visuals. It should also be noted that Titanfall runs at aere 792p on the Xbox One, with the potential to possibly be expanded to 900p with FXAA or 1080p with no method of AA at all.

Finally, the gameplay of Titanfall is stunning. Even with a limited number of modes, guns, and options, Titanfall's core gameplay is one of the best around. Do you see a tall building? Run on the side of it. Are you in a battle with an enemy Titan? Boost up to him using your Jump-Kit (which is basically a jet pack), pull off a piece of his armor and open fire on his insides. Have you gotten a lot of points? Standby for Titanfall. You can enjoy the satisfying and gratifying feeling of watching your behemoth Titan crackle through the atmosphere and land in a powerful crush in front of you. It is then that you can hop in and start your own personal reign of destruction. It is all of these parts that make Titanfall so special when they all lock together. The rush of being in your Titan and punching another Titan into the ground only to have to set off a nuclear sized explosion by ejecting and flying thousands of feet into the sky in a pure adrenaline rush and it's an adrenaline rush that no game has ever given you before. When all of these pieces move in a swift motion, Titanfall towers above all of it's competition.

Titanfall may not be perfect, but it is as close as you will get in this day and age. For years, we have been waiting for the "Call of Duty 4" or the "Halo 2" to come and re-revolutionize the first person shooter genre and with Titanfall, we finally see that shot in the arm the genre and the players have been clamoring for. It is with this knowledge that Titanfall receives from me... a 9/10.

Never was a single campaign implied, and it should be judged as such. As a multiplayer experience, it's truly unparalleled, at least in the FPS genre. It's flawlessly smooth to the point of fluidity. Whether you're running on the ground or piloting a titan, you can be equally as lethal, which gives it a nice edge. The game gives range to a huge array of tactics in comparison to CoD, but still keeps the fast-paced gameplay which results in frantic, epic, pragmatic gaming, which can occasionally also be hilarious. (Wait until you drop your Titan on someone's head.) As a negative the multiplayer campaign offers a nice twist, but it's not really a divergence from the classic multiplayer. The customization options are limited, and the guns are a little unbalanced, resulting in a huge number of people running around with the standard assault rifle, seeing that it is noticeably better than any other arm overall. But the game does deserve a 9. It is a blast. And that's all it ever promised to be. Expand

The game is fast and chaotic but remains tight and easy to pick up. Everyone can have fun even if your team does lose a round. The game modes aren't anything revolutionary as they borrow from a lot of the big-named FPS titles before it, but nothing about this game has made me feel like it will be a flash in the pan. Playing with friends is excellent even though it's limited to 6v6. I do sometimes wish there was a 7v7 or 8v8 mix on some maps as there are some bigger environments, but it rarely feels like the action is empty. I personally love the fact that Respawn Entertainment have made this game out to cut as much "lull" as possible so that you always feel like something is going on and you're a part of it. I also love that the developers are very open to the community and are voicing their intentions to add more to the game in the coming months. It seems EA (publisher) has been trigger-happy on releasing their games before they're finished, and while TitanFall is claimed to be an unfinished product by Respawn devs, it certainly plays well. If you're not overwhelmed with the graphics then be patient as there is said to be a patch to address the lower resolution @ launch. But in the end it's not how beautiful the game can be, but how fun it is. For me, I've been waiting to kick Call of Duty to the curb for being stale and gimmicky. TitanFall is the new kid on the block and it has made its presence known in a big way. There is something exhilarating about calling in a Titan while being shot at, then having him pick you up and put you in the cockpit at the last second. This game, above all, is fair, equal, it's not overdone. The Titans are strong and sturdy, but even the newest pilot can take one down. There's a certain balance between the pilots and titans that needs to be recognized. Just because you are in a Titan doesn't mean that you're safe. Also, this game doesn't ride on the call of duty idea, "can't get a kill? No kill streak." If you don't get any kills, your Titan still comes. Theres no reason to rage quit a match. The game also looks beautiful, the sunlight through the trees as you're scaling buildings or running across walls. The sounds and world are believable, and that's awesome. The only thing that could make the game better is some kind of offline mode. Every once and a while, my internet may shut down or I might just want to play alone. I think the game would deserve a 10 if it had some sort of offline campaign or just custom match. But even without these, the game is great, just make sure you have a solid internet connection or the game is basically a waste of money. Titanfall is the future of first person shooters, and in my opinion, has beaten call of duty to the top. Call of duty no longer sits on it's throne. The universe for titanfall allows for variety in its beautiful 15 maps. Yes its not the prettiest game, but the art design makes up for it.

For peopled who are thinking about buying this game there are a couple of things you should be aware of. Although titanfall had a multiplayer campaign it is not what you would normally expect from a regular campaign. The most I got out of the campaign was a little bit of background for some of the multiplayer maps. Before buying titanfall you should be aware of this do you are not disappointed. Another thing to know is the game does feel like its lacking a bit in some areas. There are only 5 gamemodes and not much customization besides the basics. Even though its lacking in these areas the game itself is not affected because it's still a lot of fun to play.

Overall I find that the game is a unique experience. No it doesn't change the fps genre but it does add something unique to it. You can't compare it to cod, bf, or halo because titanfall is it's own game. If you love to play fps just to have a great time in multiplayer with your friends then titanfall is the game for you.

Titanfall has successfully breathed fresh air into the online shooter scene, playing any other shooter after Titanfall just feels lackluster and flat. The game is already well supported and has successfully managed to make skill take a back seat and gives everyone a level playing field meaning you are free to just play and have fun.

Pros: Dynamic game-play; jumping off walls, dropping mechs. Diversity in maps, good selection of maps, great weapon implementation, and burn cards.

Cons: Very limited customization of characters/titans, missing a lot of given elements expected in a FPS (especially for being an online multiplayer only). Should be 8 vs 8. There is nothing compared to the feeling of the parkour system

There is nothing compared to the feeling of the parkour system in Titanfall... It's awesome, and I have no idea why this wasn't thought of earlier. To me, parkour makes this game; it is what makes it fun to me.. and it almost fully makes me forget any flaws, at least while I'm playing. The addition of mechs also just adds that complete change in dynamic, it brings chaos (a good chaos).

Titanfall is definitely a unique FPS, and doesn't feel anything like any game before it. However, there are some underlining flaws (it's not a perfect 10). I agree with the dismissal of the campaign; FPS have a bad history of throwing on clunky/unimaginative story modes, which only take away from the multiplayer development. However, if you're going to take away the campaign, you need to apply that extra energy/development towards the multiplayer experience. There should be a massive amount of game modes, and complete customization of everything. This is the only area Titanfall lacks.. there's very little customization of characters/titans (other than load out), not a massive selection of weapons either (adequate, but not plentiful). With a multiplayer mode only, I expect an onslaught of weapons, maps, and customization. I'd say Titanfall is 80% there on the map count, 50% on the weapons, and 50% on the customization. There's also little things in game play I would have liked to have seen (tagging enemies and spawning on team members). More so, I would have liked to have seen 8 vs 8. The maps are big; big enough to accommodate 8 vs 8. However, with all that said, you rarely notice during game play (it's really a ton of fun). I think you notice that stuff after a few hours of consecutive game play; wanting to switch it up thereafter. We know more modes are coming, and likely more weapons and maps in DLC as well. So a lot will be covered in the long run.

The graphics look very impressive despite the whole "lower resolution" argument, and it is believed the resolution will improve in the near future via a patch.

With the focus being only on a multi-player game it has made that element the best it can be whilst still providing enough of a "story" to make the game engaging.

Anyone who likes FPS and plays this game will enjoy it, simple as that. Anyone who says otherwise either has not played it, or more likely cannot play it due to not owning a platform that can.

Add to that a great set of weapons, load outs, burn cards and a few good modes and you have a game that is sure to be getting played for months if not a years to come (provided they keep adding in content). One should note that the AI for the titans when on auto pilot is as lethal as they should be and adds to the strategy inherit in the game. So Kudos to ReSpawn for putting out a online only game that deserves to be played, and often.

The thrill of moving arround at such high speeds brings back very fond memories of Quake and URT, its fast and frantic transitioning from mech to pilot is a sinch, and very enjoyable you can mix it up once you get the hang of jumping from wall to zipline to titan to roof. there is a lot of fun to be had and its very difficult to put down. however you will need to take breaks from this every so often. partly because of fatigue and partly because of sensory overload. 15 maps comes with the game and 3 packs planned for the future. this game deserves to be recognized about how good it play. graphicly if you have a capable pc, you can flip all your sentting onto max and it is beautiful, interestingly the game is runing on a heavily modified source engine. and you can feel the years of excellent gameplay heritage within the game.

If you try to play it like Call of Duty--running around on the ground, camping, etc.--you're making the game a lot more difficult and a lot less fun than it should be. Get vertical. The campaign part of the multiplayer isn't really clear on what is going on except at the start and ending of each map/level/mission. However, the campaign elements are still very much in this game. The Titan vs Pilot aspect would seem to be an issue many people would worry about. However, I can safely say for I have done this many times, there is no imbalance issues. A pilot can take out a Titan without to much of an issue, but it requires fast movements and stealth. Another issue people keep looking at is the "6v6 + AI" in the multiplayer. It's an understandable issue most people have, but it isn't that bad. Killing an AI "minion" is still satisfying, but nothing beats taking out a Pilot or a Pilot controlled Titan. Titanfall brings a big aspect to FPS games that has never made a solid movement. The use of the Free Running ability is vital to survive long periods of time during a match. However, you can't just rely on it as your only motion. Many will look to the skies for the Pilots, so sneak around with the AI players and throw the enemy off. Titanfall is a great game to kick off a new batch of games built for Next Gen. This may not seem like a true "Next Gen Game", but its carving a great path that many should follow. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wonderful game, great mix of experiences. As some one who enjoys Hawken and generally most shooter Titan fall hit a sweet spot for me. The vertical aspect of the maps make the playing field feel larger then it is. Wall running and double jumping all while in a fire fight has me on the edge of my seat . If you want fast pace action this game will probably fill that void.

ON a side not I have read a lot of the negative comments. The one that bugs me the most is " lack of single player campaign. If you haven't heard of CS or played battle field before bad company then you don't know some games can fly on just the multiplayer . You don't always need both. Personally bf3 and any cod after 4 didn't need the single player campaign. Also 6v6 this is fine it's well balanced. We can reference CS's 5v5 formula and how it has been working just fine for the last decade. The game may not be for you, but damn if it aint right for me.

The new play mechanics introduced by the freedom of movement really brings something fresh to online multiplayer gaming.

I'm docking it one point due to the lack of a "real" campaign mode. I do wish that they would have included a SP campaign, but the MP campaign mode is still great and really fun, and helps to flesh out the background story.

All in all, this game is AMAZING. Haven't had this much fun playing an online game in a LONG time.

This is mostly sour grapes from people who have never even bothered to play it or are unable to play it. That is a sad thing from people wanting to bring the game down not because its a bad game but because its not on their console of choice.

If you don't want to check out the mainstream go listen to Totalbuscuits reviews.

The game is very good and all this as a first game from a new studio. They are however a studio of veterans but a new studio none the less. The game is almost flawless its a fantastic attempt to breath new life into what has become a fairly static genre. The balance between both the pilot gameplay and the titan game play is epic changing mid battle or calling in a Titan to act as a wingman never gets old. I will admit the game does not take many risks but most other games in this genre don't either. The game play can be broken into 2 types the pilot gameplay that feels somewhat familiar but also has a freshness about it I have not seen since COD4. The wall jumping adds speed and fluidity of movement around the fantastically designed maps giving the whole game a sense of rhythm. Mix this up with the epic titan battles that erupt around you and matches come to an end all too soon. The titan game play feels different enough to keep things fresh while still feeling somewhat familiar. I have to admit I never got board of calling in a Titan to aid me when trying to keep a hard point or charging in to blow its core when the odds where not in my favour. There are some bad points too the campaign lacks depth and could have been so much more than what is essentially a beginners mode. The frame rate seldom drops bellow a silky smooth 60 FPS and when it does you hardly notice it.

The game does benefit from a balanced unlock system rarely are you left feeling that you have been grinding for hours with no weapons or perks unlocked.

There have been a lot of complaints about the fact that the game is multiplayer only however I remember a little franchise called battlefield which was multiplayer only and was still great.

So to those who knock this without trying It I say its your loss and your narrow-minded view has probably robed you of a great experience.

While not perfect I believe the game provides a fresh take and shows what can be done when to breath new life into a stale genre.

Ultimately I remember a time when games where about gameplay and not solely about graphics I mean take dark souls does not look great but its fun to play. Titan fall looks great and is fun to play.

The action rarely dies down, and when it does, it picks up again in a heartbeat.
I give the game a 9 just on the amount of fun there is to be had. The people giving it such low scores have never played it, and probably never will. They can be ignored. The biggest complaint is the lack of weapons.

The biggest complaint is the lack of weapons. There is a small number, with limited attatchments.
The game launches with 15 maps, and runs smoothly most of the time, with drops when the action gets intense. It doesnt take away from the fun, but it is noteable.
The game always feels balanced, I never felt like I was unfairly killed. It was always based on the other person's ability in the game, a problem I have had with Call of Duty for years.
Your range of movement is also impressive, with all runs, double jumps, and air kicks to keep action up.
It doesnt feel nor look like Call of Duty, the comparisons are based on nothing.

Extensive stat stracking, leveling up system, the guns and the 3 Titans chassis are a tiny bit of what Titanfall has to offer. Though the frame-rate can be choppy during intense battles, the game runs at a smooth 60 FPS. The Multiplayer is divided into two sections: Campaign and Classic. In campaign, you play 9 matches total on both sides (IMC and Militia) and that's pretty much it. It's 5 Attrition matches and 4 Hardpoint domination. It is extremely short clocking at under 2 hours, but this was expected. The real fun of the game is in the Classic mode. You pick a game mode, 5 of them and three were in the Beta and two new one, Pilot Hunter and CTF. The game is buttery smooth rarely, if ever chugs. Some have lamented the 720p resolution, personally I was too freaking busy wall walking, Titian jacking, fool cap'n to notice. A patch is coming for those who care, but for the first time in my life I could care less, the game looks good to me. Level design is fantastic, even tho I found few maps too claustrophobic for Titans, pilots always have multiple paths to move around the levels.
This game is not MechWarrior or any game of that ilk, to me the Titans are more of a power up than the sole focus of gameplay. I liked being in and out of titans, but mostly used them in guard mode to block access to hard points. Pilots are just too much fun!
Taking a point away for the way too long load times, lack of single player campaign, and price. If your gonna charge full price for a online only game, the the first round of Map packs to be free. The maps that are included are great, but sooner or latter you're gonna get bored. I just need more for my $60.

One of the smoothest control schemes I've ever played with, making the wallrunning and aerial movement much more intuitive than I had expected. After a really terrible run of EA botching releases of highly-anticipated AAA titles, Titanfall dropped in with only minor hiccups, which is very impressive in this day and age.

The Xbox Cloud shines on Titanfall, which the first FPS to take advantage of this back-end computing service. Rather than running the AI for NPCs and Auto Titans locally, the Xbox Cloud's Azure servers take the load off of the console's hardware and let the box in your home focus on your direct experience.

Multiplayer campaign is a really interesting feature, since it makes the "story mode" one which you can "lose" rather than just have to try again. You get to play on both sides of the conflict and it introduces you to the "Classic" multiplayer gameplay better than most FPS' campaign modes. Skills are more directly translated between the two over-arching game types.

Looking forward to the upcoming title update with some features that were not ready in time for the original launch, but overall, I think it'll be Titanfall versus Destiny for Game of the Year in 2014.

Haters, check your nonsense at the door and give respect where it's due. Titanfall is the real deal.

In conclusion, this game is great and deserves a try. Those who give this game a 0 are out of line.
Have a great day and Happy Gaming!

Pros: Although there isn't many guns, they all work well. No overpowered weapons or "noob" weapons so far. Maps are huge and easy to traverse. Graphics are amazing!

Cons: My only complaints are the bots are so weak. They should be more competitive, that'd add more challenge.

The online only multi-player aswell, the game has always been marketed at that so why complain about that aspect you knew what you were buying if you don't like games like that why buy it and people say it gets boring after a few hours well then honestly I don't think multi-player FPS games are for you then. BOTS is another thing there supposed to not have that great of an AI there like minions in LoL, there for strategy they help you get your Titan faster, so there is a strategy to farming them etc.

There are about 10 pilot weapons that you can unlock and use, the shotgun is a bit overpowered but I will not complain as I cannot do any better than they can. The Titans are extremely balanced, Pilots can destroy Titans, Titans can kill Pilots and Titans can kill Titans, simple. There are no micro transactions and there is no Day one DLC either. The game is simple to pick up and play, I can tell Respawn was going for that approach. There is also framerate and screen tearing issues on the Xbox one version of the game.

As usual, there are a bunch of troll ratings on Metacritic. This game plays pretty similarly to CoD in terms of style, but you can do a lot more. Between the double-jump, wall-running, and mech gameplay (the Titans), the game feels different than pretty much any other FPS out there. I highly recommend it for fans of the genre, and maybe even for people who don't play FPS much.

As others have mentioned, the only downside to the game is that it's pretty barebones. There is a Campaign Mode, and a Classic Mode, but the campaign is BARELY that--It's a little bit of storyline to go along with the shooting. All modes are multiplayer-only, so don't expect to play this offline. Either way though, this game is too much fun to pass off, lack of variety aside. I highly recommend it.

The parkour isn't overdone and everything you do is intuitive. While the limited selection of guns gets a bit tiring after playing for a while, the game would get overly complicated if there were a CoD-like selection. The different kits provide for some customization past the guns. Fighting a pilot as a pilot does sometimes get confusing if the battle is at close range, with both players parkouring around trying to jump kick each other, but it can be forgiven if you look at the epic totally free form sequences that result when rodeoing titans. Playing as a titan makes you feel powerful, as though you, as a 20 foot tall battle robot can completely turn the tide of battle. While titan battles on a lower level can often result in two mechs standing in front of each other while seeing who can off the most missiles in before they're shields are destroyed, experienced players fighting each other can really feel like combat on the huge scale the game simulates. With both titans dashing around to dodge attacks and playing catch with nukes combat is truly amazing. Even with the powerful titans at both teams' command, the only time titans will every seem overpowered is if you're the only pilot not in a one. Again, the customization is a bit slim, often making unlocking another loadout just feel like an excuse to have the option to play with the Hemlock, even though you hate it, or to equip that kit that seems useful but you really don't like to use it. Almost all aspects of combat, however, are totally free and and are a nice change from the worse traditional shooter formula. Probably my biggest problem with this game is the campaign. It offers the same great gameplay as the classic multiplayer, but every map and mission is strung together by a piecemeal and confusing storyline. The second to last mission feels like it should be the end of the playable story, but then you have to play another mission that almost feels like a tacked-on excuse to make the mission selector a 3 by 3 grid. Probably the only good thing about the story is that is provides an "introduction" to the familiar game modes in provides, namely TDM (Attrition) and Domination (Hardpoint Control). One of the most annoying things about the whole thing is that in order to unlock the Strider chassis for your titan, you have to beat the campaign twice. The classic gameplay is a break from all this, however, and it provides a few original game modes for you to try. While Respawn botched the campaign, the gameplay makes you put all that aside and play this thankfully original FPS. And if you want to write a review for this game, please make sure you play it first instead of judging it by its story and the fact that it "can't be original because if you want a game to be original, you have to invent a genre". And if you suddenly decide that the game will have microtransations that will ruin the whole thing, Respawn has pretty much pledged on their honor as a developer that the game will never include microtransactions. Oh, and make sure you actually play the game before you decide it deserves a 0. Expand

The whole pilot and titan sides of this game brings new dynamics to the gameplay and just add fast movement with that and you got a solid game. Respawn have nailed the balance nothing feels overpowered or useless. I just hope they keep up on the Cheaters unlike COD
