I have never before seen a game hyped this much that personally entertained so little. I have spent a lot of time on FPS like COD and Battlefield, and this game does not measure up to those in my opinion. I think the point proves itself by looking at the ratings, the "pro critics" have the game up near 90 while the actual players are rating it closer to 65.

I think the point proves itself by looking at the ratings, the "pro critics" have the game up near 90 while the actual players are rating it closer to 65.

The multiplayer is good, but certainly not groundbreaking. The matchmaking is just awful, many times so unbalanced that it makes competition unrealistic. The Titans are much like having a tank in Battlefield, nothing new. The only real new feature is the AI controlled players, which is neat but makes it very hard to tell what are bots and what are enemy players.

The real breaking point of the game for me was the storyline (or lack of one). Having no single player campaign is bad enough, but the multiplayer campaign is almost insulting. Nothing more than the normal multiplayer with a few seconds of video and narrative thrown in. It is the worst attempt at a campaign I have seen in any game, big budget or otherwise.

Overall the game is fun for a few hours, but gets repetitive quicker than other FPS and without a true campaign or single player Titanfall is half the game of COD or Battlefield. It is at best an average game. The ratings and hype given to this game have me and those I play with puzzled. After playing this game for about 12 hours total, I have lost interest and am moving on...maybe back to COD. To bad, I was really looking forward to it thanks to the hype...

I am having a blast playing Titanfall on the Xbox One. Matchmaking is fast and reliable, and I have had no connection issues. The graphics look sexy and the maps are varied enough with cool animated backgrounds, such as giant monsters and creatures.

The fact that even on foot, you feel as if you have a chance against giant titans.. this is such a great feature. Nothing really feels over-powered.

Bla bla bla I could go on why I am enjoying this game so much. Do yourself a favor... check it out.

So with not many new games out there, it's any wonder that a lot of players are flocking to this new franchise. But you have to look at this game and wonder...where is it's soul? Seriously if games have souls then this one has none. There is no way this game is going to heaven. Even the game Dark Souls 2 still ironically has a soul...albeit a dark one.

Before you judge me for judging this game, just know that I am NOT a playstation fanboy. I am just an ex hardcore gamer turned casual who loves many different games of all genres on all platforms. But there is something about Titanfall that just stinks.
Is it the 6v6 multiplayer? Sort of. It's more the fact that you're mostly getting AI kills....and the AI are really easy to kill. It's also easy to kill other players largely due to the overpowered guns including a pistol with a built in aimbot which takes zero skill to use....skill....something this game proclaims you need to master wall running yet it's so easy it's almost effortless. So I will give the game some credit in that yes it's good some fluid movement with great map design, but it still feels like a shell of a game.
There is so much hype to this game that it is almost hard to hate. But believe me, play for a few hours and you will start to tire of the fact that you're essentially running round killing AI and in a modern game like this I feel that is unforgivable.
Maybe if there was some sort of Horde mode where you team up to kill nothing but bots and monsters would actually be more fun than killing each other, or at least something different to the dismal amount of game modes that are just the same variations of game modes we've seen in hundreds of fps games.
Unreal Tournament, Tribes, Call of Duty, Halo, Battlefield....there is a reason why these FPS games stand out regardless if you like them or not. Titanfall only stands out because it has mechs running around. Battlefield and Unreal Tournament prove you don't need any single player story to have a great game you can play online with friends, but unfortunately the matchmaking system in Titanfail feels like it's been rushed as you cannot chose the map you want, you're thrown into a part of the "story"...which is another failure with the game. It was touted as being some sort of next gen experience that would merge a single player campaign with multiplayer, but it's just a mission debriefing at the start of each round, and doesn't have anything at all groundbreaking like they promised would change online gaming forever.
They really should not have bragged about this feature because quite frankly, the story is generic and barely there so you won't even give a single **** you'll just want to start killing people, which takes so much longer than it should before a round starts.
PC gamers have NOTHING to cheer about either since the same crappy matchmaking is ported over with no love from the console to the PC. It's just really pathetic that PC gamers could have had larger maps with more players and no bots, but it almost feels like they held back the PC version to keep in line with the console version. Why would they do this? Is it not obvious? It's to make Xbox1 players feel justified in getting the game on Xbox1 and to not make the Xbox1 look so completely inferior to a PC so early in it's life-cycle.
Ultimately if you want to waste a few hours, there are worse games out there, and at least this is more refreshing than just another COD.
Still, I would not recommend this game if you want a game with substance or a game you want to play all year, because if I got bored after a day I'm sure kids with short attention spans will go running back to COD pretty quickly.
5/10 is being generous, because I'm not even going to rant on about the fact the game is unfinished as it will just highlight what is wrong with the gaming industry today. You know, the trend of releasing unfinished games and fixing them later with patches....and then DLC to make you think you're getting more content while they spend the next year actually finishing their game.

I don't know where they get their skewed statistics on players who prefer multiplayer over campaign but I am certainly not one of them, they slacked off big time with this title, limited weapons, limited titans, limited customization options and DLC on the way for an incomplete game, hardly deserving of a $59.99 price tag, thank god for origin offering refunds. The first few tries playing this, Xbox One version by the way, lead to disconnects and levels of game lagginess that were unacceptable. I don't blame the game for that. I blame Microsoft for not readying themselves for a game that was hyped beyond belief. The game it's self is fast and furious though, although after about 9 hours of play I was getting bored with the modes and the inability to work on my skills in a single player type setting. Why no kind of training mode was beyond me, it didn't need to be a full story, but at least a mode where could practice moves and explore the maps to learn how to use the terrain to your advantage in the main game. Unless this game gets major support from EA and Respawn in the form of maps and new modes Titanfall will fall of the radar within the year as soon as the next overhyped game is released. Expand

ZERO problems connecting to a game. I picked up my pre-order at midnight and proceeded to play non-stop until about 6 in the morning and again the next day. No other problems since at all. I live in Oklahoma, so perhaps this is a regional thing. I've also experienced no issues with anything else related to Xbox Live. I'm surprised, I even had problems connecting during the Call of Duty free Weekend most of the time.

Next, the game. You know enough about it. I love it. The game is so smooth, you'd never notice any of these so-called framerate issues that likely plague the unoptimized PC version. I played on both Xbox One and PC during beta and can attest to the fact that at least with my 7970, during online matches Titanfall was unplayable with v-sync on and to much screen tearing, more than X1, to the point I couldn't stand it. Besides, a game like this is meant for a controller and I couldn't see myself using a kb+m for this.

Lastly, only thing keeping it from a 10 are the commercials. The problem? They are great. The Titan intros and the my buddy commercials. You'd almost think this game's story mode would have loads of humor in it like Portal mixed with Call of Duty/Gears of War. The story is less understandable than all of the CoDs up to Ghosts, which is hard to do. If I play this for 30 or 40 hours it would have been worth the money. I'll wait to see what the season pass has in store. As long as it's not 5 maps total, I'll get it. Maybe they should make another campaign with the season pass with a better story and drop those maps into the classic rotation.

Gameplay wise, it's a big let down after all the talk from game journos (promoters). It's an ok'ish shooter.

That too was like a breath of fresh air, unless of course you are more interested in cut-scenes then the actual gameplay. The story moves from mission to mission passively, but it's a story nonetheless.
My one and only reason for not being utterly obsessed with this game is it's total lack of offline play. There isn't any. This game has no replay value. No true campaign with no back story followed by a bland multiplayer experience isn't very exciting. With little to no reason to be excited to log. The lack of recoil on the weapons is also somewhat shocking, I feel like the weapons were taken from Counter Strike 1.6. The parkour style combat was a stolen idea from Brink (another disaster of a FPS).

The first time you start playing this you will be like OMFG herp a derp this is incredible these people complaining are NUTS. However, from a person who plays games competitively I cannot express how stale, and disappointing it gets and how fast.

First off, the AI they put into games is pathetic and will frustratingly get you killed more often than not (there NEEDS to be an easier way to distinquish between the AI and real players). You end up seeing AI FAR FAR more than actual players (a seriously high score is like 15 kills, normally most players only get like 5 or 6). What Respawn DESPERATELY needs to do is make the matches 12v12 and cap the Titans available at one time to 6 each side. I would literally make a world of a difference.

Secondly the campaign is LAUGHABLE. Like seriously, its awful, and I don't even care for FPS storylines and the attempt was pathetic.

Third: the playlists are sooo tiny. Now normally I can get my kicks playing slayer and deathmatch but since the AI in this game really ruins slayer (like seriously, its awful) with massive maps and sooo few players, that when you go to check out the other playlists there isn't anything else to play.

Now don't get me wrong, the initial impact that this game has is incredible (goose bumps anyone?) but it just gets sooo old sooo fast. The map movement is a genre changing gameplay element and makes every map so fun to run through and the Titans are fun to play in. The longevity of the game and the meta within the game is just soo poor right now.

All-in-all while I was initially blown away by it (and it is still CLEARLY the best FPS on Xbox One) it doesn't have that "IT" factor that will keep you coming back time and time again (like Halo 3 or MW2 did). Deeply disappointed with it but if they could patch it up and fix their playlists it could be incredible.

Titanfall has changed the way we play online multiplayer shooters. Finally we have a first person shooter that's well balanced with many new abilities and strategies to learn. The campaign is integrated well with the multiplayer. This is an online focused game and all I can say is titanfall has delivered.

I honestly don't understand the hype about this game. The online is pretty fun, but after a while the lack of multiplayer choices and options makes it feel meticulous and a bit of a slug fest. Hopefully they'll improve this game with regular updates. Expand

It's a very fluid game, and it's a shame because some of the maps are made for camping, and already I'm seeing it. There's no destructible environments, take that as you may as a positive or negative. I look at it as a negative. You have these big giant mechs and it would have been nice to blow up a building and use the rubble to melee another mech. Speaking of the mechs, or titans, they seem underpowerd. But that's better than the alternative. I find myself getting a lot more kills as a pilot. The game engine shows, even though a lot of work has been put into it. Generally the game looks good, but there are some textures that look bad. The burn cards are nice, but the weapons amps are too OP. And this would be fine if the cards weren't so plentiful. The smart piston isn't as bad as some have led on, but it will still infuriate others with its lock on ability. Good variety of maps, but I wish they looked better. My pc can handle it, and is it so much to ask for more in 2014? With all the hype, it's hard for me to overlook the bad. Expand

I really wanted to love this game. However, its just a little too short on content for the price tag. It is very enjoyable when it works (be prepared for it to not work). It doesn't deserve a 0/10. It definitely doesn't deserve a 10/10, or anyone praising it as a genre redefining game, or conversely as a giant pile of garbage.

First off, the gameplay. This game runs very smoothly, and looks pretty good. Not great, nothing eyepopping to be honest, but it does a good job of setting atmosphere for your wall jumping, man crushing, mech combat. It is a first person shooter seamlessly blended with a mech shooter, and a level of platforming not all that common anymore. So in that regard, it makes a very good update of an oldschool shooter. However, that's where it stops. It really doesn't go any farther than that. The AI, which was touted as filling out the game to make it seem for frenetic, is atrocious, and their attempt at adding a story is insulting. There are only a few guns available (I assume more will be added in content packs, adding another 25 dollars to the price tag) and none of them are really all that interesting except for the smart pistol, which is meh anyway. You're customization options are pretty limited as well, both on mechs and on your gear, making it all feel rather bare.

As far as maps go, they are well designed, and fun to look at and play on. They aren't particularly large, and tend to still feel a little empty. This game doesn't feel finished in that regard. I'm not going to talk about connection issues, as its too early in this games launch to tell if this will be a consistent problem. The lack of any visible team balancing can make for some incredibly frustrating, or boring matches, making it all a little luck of the draw.

My verdict on this game is very middle of the road for a reason. I found it to be pretty mediocre, with some great moments, and some incredibly frustrating issues. you'll either love it or hate it. I would give it a shot though, either when it drops in price, or through origin, as you can get a refund within 24 hours of first playing it.

I purchased my Titanfall for XBox One yesterday, and I didn't get a chance to play until last night and this morning. So far, I am loving the game, simply because it is a great game. I love the fact that you can jump-wall, this to me is genius by the developer. Aside from the Titans, this is enough to separate the game from the other shooters in the market. This is what creates franchises and brands. The game is action-packed, and it is suitable for all levels of game play. It feels like a breath of fresh air among the Call of Duty(s) in the world.

That being said, there are a couple of gripes I have about Titanfall on XBox One. The first is with the game, being the bots/minions/spectres. I am not liking these, in fact, I hate them. When I am looking for an opponent, I am looking for a human opponent in a multi-player environment, not artificial intelligence. Maybe I'll like them later on, who knows, but for now, I dislike them.

Second gripe is with the XBox One and being under-powered. Like I said, I own a handful of consoles, and I am not blind to their pros and cons. It's shameful that Titanfall, the most anticipated game this year for the XBox One, cannot run at 1080p (full HD). It is ridiculous. I did some research and apparently it runs at 792p. I mean, what the heck is that? Never heard of such a thing. The Xbox 360 will run Titanfall at 720p, and the XBox One at 792p? You mean to tell me I spent $500 on a console that cannot perform like its next-generation competitor? I love electronic gadgets, so whatever I guess.

Anyway, the game is great overall, and definitely worth purchasing (PC, Xbox 360 or Xbox One).

One of the smoothest control schemes I've ever played with, making the wallrunning and aerial movement much more intuitive than I had expected. After a really terrible run of EA botching releases of highly-anticipated AAA titles, Titanfall dropped in with only minor hiccups, which is very impressive in this day and age.

The Xbox Cloud shines on Titanfall, which the first FPS to take advantage of this back-end computing service. Rather than running the AI for NPCs and Auto Titans locally, the Xbox Cloud's Azure servers take the load off of the console's hardware and let the box in your home focus on your direct experience.

Multiplayer campaign is a really interesting feature, since it makes the "story mode" one which you can "lose" rather than just have to try again. You get to play on both sides of the conflict and it introduces you to the "Classic" multiplayer gameplay better than most FPS' campaign modes. Skills are more directly translated between the two over-arching game types.

Looking forward to the upcoming title update with some features that were not ready in time for the original launch, but overall, I think it'll be Titanfall versus Destiny for Game of the Year in 2014.

Haters, check your nonsense at the door and give respect where it's due. Titanfall is the real deal.

I like Titanfall, but it is far from perfect. It feels like a Halo/BF/COD hybrid. I like that, but I guarantee some people won't. I think the number of people playing this will peak when the 360 version is released and then decline steadily as people migrate back to more traditional shooters. Just my guess, but wait and see. As for it being revolutionary, not so much. It's got elements of those titles I pointed out plus the mechs. That is the biggest sell for the title. You aren't just running and gunning as a human, but sometimes in a giant beast of a mech that adds a whole different playstyle to the game. The balance of waiting for Titans and the fact they can be brought down by a coordinated human assault makes them a great part of the game. Now for the bad parts. First, sorry but the graphics are just good, not great. Look at the textures up close. Look at the aliasing (better than it was in the beta though) on the Titan cockpit lines. Second, the frame rate is not even close to constant. There have been times it's chugged to a crawl. Usually there's a few Titans involved when that starts happening, but the game is called Titanfall and should handle that a bit more gracefully. Third, the dumb AI bots. I can forgive the 6x6 human element, but the added ground forces are just plain dumb. Shooting at nothing, running around for no reason, etc. Fourth, the lack of a real campaign. The story driven co-op really doesn't cut it. I get that this is primarily a multiplayer game, but why is it $60 like the games that have a story plus multiplayer then? Kind of feels half done to me. All in all, the game is good fun. Everyone should try it before harping about the shortcomings. I think Titanfall 2 will be when this series really hits its stride.

Furthermore, they lied to us. They said the campaign was multi-player only leading us to believe it was a story that had to be told through a group effort or strategy, etc. This only means that the campaign is... actually... a 6 vs 6 multi-player map exactly like the multi-player experience, with the only difference being a radio cut scene played during the 80 second match countdown that is exactly the same as what you see in multi-player. In other words. You can now be satisfied that they spent an additional 1 week of programming to include the ability to say they have a campaign, which they actually... do not have. This is not the online shooter for those who don't like online shooters; that would be the also great Plants Vs Zombies. This is FPS for FPS fans and people whom didn't know they could be a online FPS fan!
The game is buttery smooth rarely, if ever chugs. Some have lamented the 720p resolution, personally I was too freaking busy wall walking, Titian jacking, fool cap'n to notice. A patch is coming for those who care, but for the first time in my life I could care less, the game looks good to me. Level design is fantastic, even tho I found few maps too claustrophobic for Titans, pilots always have multiple paths to move around the levels.
This game is not MechWarrior or any game of that ilk, to me the Titans are more of a power up than the sole focus of gameplay. I liked being in and out of titans, but mostly used them in guard mode to block access to hard points. Pilots are just too much fun!
Taking a point away for the way too long load times, lack of single player campaign, and price. If your gonna charge full price for a online only game, the the first round of Map packs to be free. The maps that are included are great, but sooner or latter you're gonna get bored. I just need more for my $60.

In many ways Titanfall has a lot of stuff and it should be good for a hundred hours of online chaos, but despite this it feels kind of kind of cut down. I'm not sure if hype scaled up what it was supposed to be but the everything new and exciting is almost balanced out by some, I don't want to say quality because that's not it, but something key thing that is lacking

The game is fun but there are quite a few things that bothered me and why I gave it a 3/10. When I picked up Dark Souls 2, I grabbed this as well and played for about 5 hours. Unfortunately, while a solidly built multiplayer experience, it left me wanting more.

My friends and I played through the campaign and we are all asking the question "What did we just accomplish?" and for a $60 game that is as hyped as Titanfall, I shouldn't be asking that. I just felt as I am only getting half a game.

On top of this, the visuals aren't anything to write about and it does suffer from screen-tearing and drop in frame-rate more than expected. Regardless the second two items can be cleaned up with patches. My other gripes is there isn't a lot of weapons or titans to choose from and the maps are rather tiny and I find my titan getting stuck on the environment or other titans way too often.

I still find this game to be good in short bursts as it is very balanced and makes your palms sweat from the intensity but in the end, as someone who prefers Xbox, (I have all systems and a gaming rig) it is a little disappointing with all the hype behind it.

Game is loads of fun. That's pretty much all that needs to be said. Doesn't deserve a 10 because it feels like it's missing something, maybe gamemodes. But, overall, this is the best shooter I have played in a long time. As someone who has long since grown tired of COD, it's safe to say that this game spits in CODs face. The fact that franchises such as Call of Duty and Battlefield have done remarkably well has led the developers to get into a rut. And why wouldn't they? The formula they have works, and by works that means it sells games. However, the downside of that success is a staleness that has crept slowly into the genre and now has a chokehold on all titles that have been recently developed.

I for one was waiting for a breath of fresh air into the FPS space, and thank God on high, Titanfall delivers that. At the end of the day it still is 'run around and shoot people before they shoot you'. However, several key functions of Titanfall make it unlike anything we have recently played and, as a result, make it a total joy to spend time with.

First and foremost, it's the introduction of a vertical space. Oh...you thought I was going to mention the Titans? Well, we'll get there, but they take second seat to the idea that I can't run in an infinite loop around the map looking left, right, and center to find my enemies. I actually have to put my head on a full swivel and understand that death can lurk *anywhere*. The parkour is embedded into the game in such a way that it feels natural and easy to adopt. I find myself looking around for novel ways to get to areas in the game I haven't yet reached, and thankfully can usually find a good route to that end. It does mean I die a lot more now than before (and here I thought that was impossible), but again, it's different. And different is good.

Ok, Titans. Not since Mechwarrior 2 have I had as much fun running around in a metal machine o' death. The Titans have a great 'feel' to them as a whole. They take up space, thereby limiting what portions of the map you can travel. They have weight in that they sound ominous thudding around and don't appear overly nimble. Last but certainly not least, they each carry an arsenal that makes you grin each time you pull the right trigger.

There are many more smaller tweaks that I also appreciate - the burn cards take the place of the various perk systems in other games. I like how they are short-lived advantages (in my case, quite short lived) and limited to just three lives in any given match. They add a tactical decision that you have to make - not only in which to bring with you but also when to use them. It's a layer of depth that other games either do not have at all or haven't developed quite as elegantly. As with other games, the number of unlockables and challenges is staggering, leaving that perpetual carrot on what to work towards next always there for the people who dig that sort of thing.

Is the game perfect? Of course not. People will criticize the resolution, the number of players, the seemingly lack of I in the AI. However, all those little aspects taken together does not detract from one single and immutable fact: The game is fun!

And that, my good people, is enough for this gamer.

I'm usually never that critical of AAA video game titles because, well, I usually don't have a reason to be - inherently, AAA games *should* be outstanding, and most are. Even in the case of Battlefield 5 for PC (a game that was riddled with "game-breaking" bugs throughout it's first months), the good outweighed the bad for me at launch and I've stayed with it through it's various updates and fixes and now enjoy an extremely playable, gorgeous, addicting experience.

All of this said, I'm quite astounded at the issues that plague Titanfall on the Xbox One (and, if forums and the scourge that populates them are to be trusted, the PC). Even more baffling is the fact that most major reviewers are completely ignoring, or omitting, these technical problems in critique. The unstable framerate and surprisingly high amount of screen tearing when firefights get heated is almost inexcusable. Truth be told, it's difficult to praise the extremely competent and enthralling gameplay after a few hours with the product, as the overall experience was marred by significant technical issues. To add insult to injury, Respawn has in the past openly claimed that "framerate is king" and has currently locked the game at 792p to ensure that claim for launch - there is a plan in place to up the resolution, however. Misleading may be an understatement at this point. At times, Titans are not your biggest enemy, but rather the huge dips in framerate - There are frequent moments during which I've been hard-pressed to tell what's going on during a match; no, not because of the blisteringly fast-paced action, but because what's occurring on the battlefield happens faster than the screen refreshes. This is undoubtedly disappointing on all fronts, as Microsoft and Respawn were reportedly doing everything in their collective power to ensure a relatively hiccup-free launch (Microsoft has claimed that the issues with their Live service was not due to Titanfall)

Even with these glaring issues, the control you have of your pilot and Titan feels wickedly smooth, while the combat is deeply rewarding. Furthermore, in no way am I knocking the One or its multiplayer potential - Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is one of the most enjoyable online experiences available, and it just so happens to be current-gen exclusive to the One. Rather, I'm simply proposing a fast fix for Titanfall, as I want to fully enjoy one of the most hyped games (deservedly so) of this generation. I want to experience what Respawn promised - and the potential and groundwork IS there.

In the end, I feel like I'm still standing by for Titanfall.

There is nothing compared to the feeling of the parkour system in Titanfall... It's awesome, and I have no idea why this wasn't thought of earlier. To me, parkour makes this game; it is what makes it fun to me.. and it almost fully makes me forget any flaws, at least while I'm playing. The addition of mechs also just adds that complete change in dynamic, it brings chaos (a good chaos).

Titanfall is definitely a unique FPS, and doesn't feel anything like any game before it. However, there are some underlining flaws (it's not a perfect 10). I agree with the dismissal of the campaign; FPS have a bad history of throwing on clunky/unimaginative story modes, which only take away from the multiplayer development. However, if you're going to take away the campaign, you need to apply that extra energy/development towards the multiplayer experience. There should be a massive amount of game modes, and complete customization of everything. This is the only area Titanfall lacks.. there's very little customization of characters/titans (other than load out), not a massive selection of weapons either (adequate, but not plentiful). With a multiplayer mode only, I expect an onslaught of weapons, maps, and customization. I'd say Titanfall is 80% there on the map count, 50% on the weapons, and 50% on the customization. There's also little things in game play I would have liked to have seen (tagging enemies and spawning on team members). More so, I would have liked to have seen 8 vs 8. The maps are big; big enough to accommodate 8 vs 8. However, with all that said, you rarely notice during game play (it's really a ton of fun). I think you notice that stuff after a few hours of consecutive game play; wanting to switch it up thereafter. We know more modes are coming, and likely more weapons and maps in DLC as well. So a lot will be covered in the long run.

I also enjoy slower and harder experiances such as DayZ, STALKER, X-Com on Impossible Ironman...and let me lay to rest your fears. This game is not casualized, what it does is strike a fine line between pleasing hardcore players, but easing in weaker players into becoming better. The bot AI does indeed suck, but the balance of having bots and players adds ambiance to the environment and made the maps feel more like a war zone. This depth is great and is something I look for when I game, depth and immersion..,games like New Vegas, STALKER, Metro 2033, Amnesia: TDD, Skyrim all do this in various ways and being a parkouring pilot with smooth transition between ground and wall running to manning a 30ft mech is amazingly crafted. This game stands on gameplay alone but adds in loadouts and a lot of gear for a ton of variety...is it as much as BF4? No, that is a different beast all together.

The gameplay is smooth and incredibly balanced. No OP weapons or loadouts, but great gear making you feel powerful. Each death I learned but never felt cheated. The tactics for running mechs adds a third layer to the parkour and traditional shooting, and the fact it is a Source engine build makes the gunplay tight and responsive. The graphics are very good, do not be decieved by again neighsayers. Do note however that though this is a review for the next gen system, the fact that it is hitting Xbox 360, much like many new gen titles, means that both Sony and Microsoft are playing it safe as are production studios. No one is truly exploring the new machines yet and seeing what is possible, and much like last gen, there will be an infancy stage to get hings rolling. However, though graphically nice, Titanfall is affected by this play-it-safe attitude, but only there. The gameplay is truly next gen and amazing, they did not play it safe, created an idea, used a new engine compared to CoD's, and they succeeded. Get the game, I'll see you in game gents.

This is the best thing to happen to FPS since Modern Warfare 2 (maybe better- there are no hacks yet!). This game is genuinely exciting to play. Playing as both Titans/Pilots gives you two experiences in one game. Can't wait to get everything unlocked!

I mean, at first glance you think to yourself 'this just looks like an average game', but once you start playing, its hard to put the controller down. Titanfall is well balanced, fun and its servers are rather stable, allowing players like me to fully experience the thrill of hearing 'Titanfall inbound'

    Overall GG

Amazing game. Mechanics are the best I've seen since MW2. Balanced gameplay and the graphics are awesome (contrary to popular belief) on Xbox One. Titans are not too powerful, the story while hard to follow is still interesting the unlocks are fair and balanced, the generation prestige system is awesome. I just find it saddening that people feel the need to give such an Amazing game a 0 or a 1 in their review just because they wish to see it fail. I can't remember the last time I played a game that was only worthy of a 1. This is a stellar title and don't believe the hype that single player is necessary....titanfall stands amongst the greats of multiplayer gaming history. Expand

Titanfall is better than a cup of coffee in the morning to wake you up.

Does it have a great campaign? No. Does it have the best graphics ever? No. Does it have a single player game? No. But where it excels is in full-throttle-high-octane-seat-of-your-pants-all-the-cliches-I-can-think-of action. To say this game is fast-paced would be an understatement. We can sit here and debate

We can sit here and debate about game modes, OP or UP weapons, how high the texture resolution is... blah blah blah... or... we can strap in and play a game because it's a whole lot of fun. I prefer the latter.

This game is a lot of fun! Fast-paced action, amazing balance and great maps! The game runs very smooth and the match making is phenomenal. I can't get enough of it, it's the best first person shooter I've played online in years.

Aside from a few minor quibbles (I can jump across streets and hop over entire buildings, but a knee-high window ledge is insanely finicky to get past?) Titanfall is undoubtedly a great game which does an exceptional job of breathing new life into an increasingly-stale genre.

An intensely fun multiplayer game that is accessible and fun for everyone. Not perfect, but that's what sequels are for.

A spectacular and superbly crafted, if traditional, shooter. [May 2014, p.71]
