Wow this gets boring really really fast. I quite like the multiplayer games, but this one really just feels like a crappy version of COD. It's not much better than the Mech games of the early 90's.

This is the definite go to game for any FPS fun, it is so different yet so familiar to the average FPS. Every online match feels different an they are filled with epic moments, in each match there are real players to fight plus titans but there are also other infantry like grunts and spectres to make the map feel like a warzone. The free running mechanic works extremely well and adds a whole new angle to attack and be attacked from, this keeps you on your toes. The titans also change how the game is played, they are stronger and can take more damage but are slow, this gives the pilot a chance to escape or fight back.

Even though there are a lot of good things about titanfall , there are some problems. The game comes with a terrible online campaign, the story is completely pointless and it seem that this feature was a last minute addition. There are very little maps compared to other games but all of the maps feel and look differently, at launch there were only around four game modes but that has been fixed at the current time with over double that. There are also only around 10 primary weapons to choose from which really limits what you can use, the game adds features called burn card that give you a specific perk for the life that you activate it on but I found most of them to be useless due to the small amount of time you have to use them.
Over all the game is great, the gameplay is the best of any FPS to date but the main reason for the game getting a low score is all of the small problems that are found plus the fact that this game cost the same as all the other new games but contains considerably less content, I only hope that this isn't the beginning of games costing more but containing less.
Over all, its a great game that works well but its problems and content means that it should only be picked up at a lower price or borrowed from a friend.

Titanfall's biggest problem is a lack of content. The gameplay is excellent, its meat and bones and although several new maps have been added via season pass it is still somewhat light. More customization has also been added along with new modes and it seems Respawn are very much listening to their player base. Its a good start for a new studio.

Disappointing game. Lacks true single player campaign. The visuals are good and the game actions are fluid enough. The one true downfall (pun intended) is repetition. And the creators try to mask this with the illusion of a pre-mission story. If you like that kind of stuff, then this might be worth it for you. Not for me.

I am going to assume that it is down to some really, really sad and bitter PS4 fanboys, bored due to the fact that their shiny new console has no worthwhile exclusives of its own (okay, I'm now sounding like an Xbone fanboy...).

Anyway, this game is just so much fun. Sure, as the reviews state, it's more evolutionary than revolutionary, but, honestly, how many (good) games really are revolutionary? Exactly. This game was never going to get 10/10 review scores, because it hasn't got a single player campaign and the 'story' elements are hilariously tacked on. That said, the presentation and polish on this game are absolutely second-to-none and the brief story elements prior to campaign matches kind of make you wish that the story wasn't so half baked.

That aside, what an incredible new IP this is from the guys at Respawn Games; the first of this generation. The core gameplay is seriously good fun and the challenges and regenation requirements are genius; the latter encouraging you to try out various different weapons and gameplay styles which really teach you everything their is about the game and, by the end, makes you into a much better all-round player.

Overall, this is one of the best multiplayer games of all time, for me. It's funny that I timed my purchase of an Xbox One for Destiny, but it's Titanfall which has got me gripped.

Can't wait for the next in the series. I really hope they implement a Battlefield: Bad Company-style Conquest mode, to create a multi-teired version of attrition whereby you move onto new areas of maps and have a specific goal to work towards. That would be perfection.

My head tells me I should give this a very strong 9/10 but my heart insists on giving it a 10.

Call Of Duty in space that uses every cookie cutter video game design short cut in the book. It doesn't have an original idea in it's tiny blonde head. No single player campaign, poor network code. Some very nice art and design that give it street cred, otherwise nothing to see here ...unless you actually do want Call Of Duty in space.

I'll admit I was one of the haters on this game. But when I actually picked it up, I felt as though I've been missing out for the last 6 months. This is probably the best FPS ever. At least since COD 4. I only wish for a single player campaign though. But the way it's done is interesting at best, and credit is due for at least trying something new.

For a day one release? It's great.

It's refreshing to see mechs come stomping back onto our screens, a shooter which encourages players to win the match rather than care about their K/D. Even when you're not in a mech the on foot combat can still prove to be great fun, the wall running and double jumping providing much needed balance when facing 20ft tall robots. It has it's flaws

It has it's flaws no doubt, limited amount of weapons/customization options, annoying random server disconnects and no single player campaign. It's a multiplayer package plain and simple, the gore included in this is often overlooked too, shooting someone with an arc cannon (a big titan weapons which fires a concentrated bolt of electricity) just to see their body exploding into a fantastic red mist, yes, delicious.

Unfortunately it just lacks replayability, whether or not that is down to the absence of enough quick sc0p3z to fill a youtube montage or the single player campaign, it just feels like it cannot keep your eyes glued to the screen for more than a couple of hours.

The maps are great, the connection is perfect, the gameplay is very good and fluid, my criticism of the game is due to lack of weapon choices and balancing bad team, not to mention the achievements that are poorly made and sold an incomplete game without all the maps (I know who wants to buy, but it's slutty put the achievements of DLCs to spoil your 1000G)

So first off Titanfall is absolutely gorgeous from the huge yet incredibly detailed set of maps to the character models and the weapons, +1. Titanfall brought parkour and mech combat to the first person shooter genre, something that I think will stay for the long run in this genre, +1. Titanfall's game play is extremely dynamic, taking linear based first person shooters and making them 3D. No longer do you have to worry about some noob sitting in a corner with a shotgun or some **** laying prone in grass with a light machine gun. Titanfall takes the overused concept of first person shooters and makes it new and exciting again by adding dynamic combat systems, I could play this game for hours on end, +1. And now we get to the campaign something which Titanfall is heavily lacking in, despite their best efforts to attempt to include a "campaign" in the form of a game mode in this entirely multiplayer shooter, Titanfall falls short on the story aspect. The reason I am criticizing a solely multiplayer game on its lack of single player is the fact that the multiplayer is already filled with a backstory, if the developers just took a few minutes to come up with a story I think we would have a flawless game here, -1. Obviously as stated the multiplayer is amazing and there isnt much more to be said, +1. Flat out entertainment value is what really matters and this game delivers... almost, the lack of story is what kills it for me, 0. Expand

While Titan-fall does bring all these interesting and 'game changing' technology to the modern FPS user-base, it does have some lackluster drawbacks. One of my main concerns is the 'campaign' which more so is just another playlist of multi-player. While this would be beneficial to people to prefer to play a campaign with real players, it was somewhat lacking in player-base numbers making it difficult to find a suitable match. Another minor concern was the actual A.I as them seemed very underwhelming in skill and didn't seem capable of actually inflicting much damage to human pilots.

The very first thing you'll know about Titanfall it's very simple. Easy to aim, your Titan comes every two min, (No really, you don't have to do nothing to get your titan) the bots just kneel down and shoot and their accurancy sucks. The objectives are very easy too. The hardest thing they had to offer was the training. Let's talk polish. The designers really knew what they were doing. I was expecting the game to have a bunch of bugs and loading problems, but there wasn't many problems in this department. I never got stuck. This did well for an Online game. The graphics weren't really mind blowing, but animations were great. The graphics aren't BF4's level at all though. The gameplay is very fun at first. But man! After playing it for 30 minutes, you'll be so bored of it that you might comeback to it in a week. Even COD Ghost has more reply value than this. The Campaign was just stupid. They should of made it better, and kept it offline instead of forcing people play with other people. People don't even play the campaign. Not much else to say about this point.

This game is great, but it was very overhyped. Titanfall isn't the next thing in first person shooters. It has nothing on Battlefeild, Halo, or COD. I would recommand to buy it, but don' expect to be blown away.

This game is vastly overrated. 86 is simply way too much with a game with no campaign. Other than that, this game is pretty good. If you were going to buy an Xbox One for this & this only, save your money. This game is on PC & 360 as well and the gameplay is basically the same on both. It is a really fun game, however once you get to 8th or 9th prestige, it gets old.

In the beginning of the game as you play the training it was actually pretty good it told you about 70% of the controls. After that you get into the story line and from there you get completely lost everything just went crazy it goes straight into the fight with no story line. You don't know where you are. You don't know what you are doing there, you don't know who you are fighting and why, you don't know any of the characters, you don't know who you are. (Besides being a "pilot") the characters in the story mode are just Ridiculous. There is no background on any of the characters. While you play the campaign you also play with other online players. That was a huge mistake the creators made. Because they didn't think that when people get the game and play the campaign 2 month after the release date. All the people that have had the game since it came out are all ready level caped are playing agains people that are level 1. The whole time I played the campaign we lost every round because the enemy team was more experienced, better equipped, and at least new what the controls were! This game should be scrapped and retried. If they corrected all of there flaws this could be a good game. And yes there is a lot more stuff wrong with this game I'm definitely not going to sit here writing an essay about this all night. Read some different reviews. And read user reviews not the company ones. Most of them get paid to say good reviews or they just don't want to seem like there being a dick to a different company. This game is worth buying only at the value of $12 tops!!!. I'm just thankful that this game came with my xbox one so I didn't pay extra for it. I feel bad for the people that payed the 60 bucks.

The game manages to introduce a balance to everything fairly well. It rewards players for doing well with points and cuts off pieces of time from a timer that will send your titan. Although all players can still get a titan.
Although the gameplay and multiplayer run smoothly, the game is a very polished game that is from a startup company. There is only multiplayer, and nothing else. Not to mention this had a retail release price of $60 for only multiplayer, and a multiplayer with limited game modes. The "Campaign" is essentially a new be multiplayer lobby with "story" overlaid in the background sounds, and the story isn't very clear or interesting either. The game has multiple dlc's that add features, but cost $9.99 (although thankfully less than call of duty)

This game has a smooth fun, innovative, balanced, multiplayer, but has limited features and is only online and contains a rough story and isn't worth $60. This game has only one trick, and even though it is a good one, It doesn't warrant game of the year material.

Lets get past the whole not being a real game part because I should have known that (I was well aware you needed XBL gold and I do have it) but when you play a totally online game the first time not on opening weekend this is your experience.

Click on play Titanfall, go right to a match which is not balanced to play with other brand new players against a bunch of guys who have been at it for months and here is the big surprise. The guys who have played hundreds of games beat the players who don't know what all the buttons do! Wow such fun! Oh wait was I supposed to take a university course on Titanfall controls before I played? games are asking for too much time these days.

Maybe I'm just too old for games, I like to sit down and play a game just a few hours a week for fun and by a few I mean like 2 hours per week tops.

All that being said, a game mode where you play with other people who just started also would be nice, playing my first game against 3 guys who at the maximum level is just stupid, really really stupid.

I couldn't return the game and I would rather let it collect dust on the shelf than sell it for 11 bucks so there it will stay...

Titanfall is a very fun game to play for a game that is a FPS which personally I find is a genre which I generally can’t get in to. On the other hand, Titanfall lacks enough customization you can choose a small handful of weapons which do vary rather well but you can’t do anything to visually change how your titan looks (the day I am aloud a pink titan is the day I will be happy) or your Pilot (human). But, overall Titanfall is a great game load of fun, very fluid combat and free running but needs a more in-depth customization.

A lot has been said about the lack of game modes, whilst the options initially where quite limited they where all fun and incredibly well balanced and worked well.
Since release Extra game modes have been added on a rotation system starting with the quite fun Marked for death, where one player on each team is marked as a target and everyone elses goal is to hunt them down.
They have also added some variety pack options just like cod which cycle game modes. Also they have enabled and improved private lobby’s.
All of this has been done with free updates along with a ton of minor tweaks and bug fixes based on community feedback.
Seeing as lack of game modes and private lobby’s have been some of the biggest criticisms I thought that was worth mentioning.

Now a lot has been said as well about the lacklustre campaign and I’ll agree a proper campaign would have been nice but for me it’s more about what is there rather then what’s not.
And make no mistake what is there is some of the most ridiculously fun and inventive multiplayer I have played in a long time. Titans are awesome and the pilots parkour skills really do add whole new dimensions to the tired cod formula.
I love COD a lot. However even I have become jaded with how repetitive it has become as a whole.
Let me tell you right now the words tired, repetitive or boring have no place in the Titanfall dictionary. The controls are silky smooth and the frame rate is solid, I have yet to experience any lag, slow down, screen tearing or noticeable frame rate dips as some players have reported.

The Pilot movement mechanics are simple and easy to pick up while quite literally adding a whole new dimension to the traditional cod formula. Sprinting along walls, double jumping through windows whilst exploring the huge multi tiered maps is some of the most exciting gameplay I have experienced in an online shooter. Ever. Strategically you have a whole new world of map exploration, flanking tactics and general sneakiness to explore. Whilst the movement mechanics are definitely a breath of fresh air in an increasingly stale genre the underlying shooting mechanics are as well balanced and precise as any iteration of cod has managed. Which is to be expected seeing as most of the major players in Titan Fall also worked on Cod 4 Modern warfare.

All of this before you even call down your giant metal buddy from the sky for some titan based mayhem. Oh the titans!
I can not understate just how much fun it is climbing in to your titan and causing mayhem across the large and varied map offerings.
What really impresses is how said titans never feel like they unbalance the core gameplay, it all works so well and is so finely balanced that titan on titan combat or pilot on titan or pilot and titan vs titan combat is never les then exhilarating.

Want to stomp around the map launching homing missiles and squashing puny pilots under your giant metal feet, go for it. Want your titan to guard a choke point or hard point, you got it. Want the freedom to wall run and double jump around the map with your titan watching your back from the ground, feel free.

The combination of titan and pilot load outs, whilst not reaching the dizzying variety of options as say Black Ops 2 are all finely tuned and well balanced to cater for a variety of different play styles.

Stealth, run and gun, cautious and tactical? However you like to play Titan fall can accommodate.

Nothing quite compares to the first time you beat an enemy titan to near death and then reach out ripping the lifeless pilot from his cockpit to be discarded like a broken toy.

    Verdict

Titan fall is a good looking if not mind blowing shooter with excellent and refreshing movement mechanics, well thought out and challenging map design and an overall air of polish, precision and importantly well balanced gameplay.
No matter how you choose to play, Titanfall will entertain, challenge and engage in a way that many long time cod fans (myself included) have been waiting for.

Titanfall may not reinvent the wheel when it comes to online shooters but it definitely adds Four wheel drive.

What are you waiting for Pilot! Prepare for Titanfall.

The simple fact is there is not enough variety in the games sandbox to keep the game interesting for more than a couple months. Sure I may come back from time to time but that's because I've had enough of the other far more entertaining and enriching experiences I could be having. Another lacking feature this game has is the absence of split-screen to play with friends, and a story mode which could have at least been a piece of cr*p and tacked on just to justify me paying $60. The diversity of game play is limitless in its own way. I love how this game introduced a new variation to Death Match game types. Attrition, a game type where you score points called attrition points that can be earned by killing enemy Grunts, Specters, Pilots and Titans. There are also other ways to earn attrition points for a more tactical game play. The game isn't to difficult to play but it does take some getting use to. I was a little discouraged to find out that the Campaign of the game is basically Multiplayer but with a story. You can not play this game without an Internet connection so please keep this in to consideration. More content could of been added to this game upon release but overall, I am satisfied with what is already placed inside the game. If I were to rate balance in weapons, I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10. That's my review. I hope it helped! Expand

The game doesn't work. Plain and simple. If you bought the Xbox One Titanfall bundle with the digital download, then the game will lock up at a certain point in the campaign without fail. No one has found a solution, and the developers have done nothing at all to address it several months after release. If you can't play a game at all, then it's worthless.

But in saying it is revolutionary, it has sacrificed something that a game of $60 should include, a decent campaign. The campaign is one of the worst, if not the worst campaigns I have ever played. It is repetitive and annoyingly linear, with no matter how well you play or don't play, you will win or lose the match depending on what the campaign decides for you. The world of Titanfall interested me so much, and I was so let down as on one level you see a space battle, but you are forced to leave this awesome place, for no other reason then the fact that EA pushed this game. The graphics aren't a let down in such as the world does look interesting and on some maps spectacular as the textures really work well, even though it is not on 1080p. Finally the customization. The customization is adequate for pilots, but definitely not so for titans. It is adequate for pilots as like any other shooter, you find your favorite few guns and accessories and you use them. But for the customization for titans is a joke, with only 3 titans and only 4 weapons.

I could go on for ever, but I'll sum it up. Titanfall is a have baked half assed COD with a dash of innovation that was rushed out the door to sell xboxes. Titanfall is one of the most fun games I have ever played. It gives such a good feel to the first person shooter type. It's movement is natural and has accurate movements. Yes there aren't many guns or titans, but for what it has, it's amazing. The only complaint I have about this game is the lack of a campaign. My only gripe is the campaign which is just the same multiplayer modes available rehashed with some real time background story as you play. You won't care for the characters or the story to be honest as you will be too busy looking for the next pilot's neck to break.
The games is so well balanced, and at last I am pleased to say that campers will get there backside handed to them. The burn cards are great variation of perks and only last as long as you are alive, which adds the perfect balance, making sure that people do not have that unfair advantage that COD gives some players, or at least what some people believe.
The titans are in a league of their own, when you hear that "stand by for titanfall", you can't wait to scramble in and kick some butt!! However if you think the titan is the boss of the battlefield, think again. It only takes you to be outnumbered by other titans or for an enemy pilot to be on your back, and suddenly you are not the badass you think you were. Which brings me back to the game being exceptionally balanced, which includes the weapons, of which there is not the variety that you get with other shooters, which I think is a good thing.
All the guns seem perfect and not overpowered, and with the games challenges you are semi forced to try out different weapons, which can surprise you as some guns you would not usually want to play with all of a sudden becomes your best friend.
So in a nut shell, don't listen to some of the negative reviews posted on here as we all know it's the idiot fanboys trying to damage the rep of the game. This is a good fps and was needed to refresh the genre, just look at Call of Duty already taking a leaf out of Titanfall's book and trying to up its game with the double jump etc. Says a lot when the world's most successful shooter of all time is learning new tricks from the new kid on the block!!

    PROS:
Great fresh FPS which makes a new stand in the genre.
    Perfectly balanced
    Titans!!
    And Pilots!
Very complex maps, with levels of all height - you are no safe anywhere campers!!

    CONS:
"Campaign" - Should of been left out to add more maps for example
A bit bare bones in regards to modes and lack of single player
    Story Narrative uninspiring

Best FPS to come out in a long while - will keep you entertained for months to come!!

The game does however have a bit of a lack of content. There aren't very many guns and many of them aren't worth using. Semi autos go mostly unused because the speed of the game makes them difficult to use. The burst fire gun falls under the same level. It's not that they are bad guns, just not good for the speed of the game. I would also like to see more game modes. A king of the hill mode would work, or a game mode like team defender from CoD with the movement system could be fun. I know some of these game modes wouldn't be highly played but still fun.
Over all a good game, but I think a little more variety would make it more interesting over time.

Being multiplayer only was an issue for me, maybe not as big a deal for you guys but my issue is none of my friends have the xb1 and all went ps4 so barring a couple of people from work who don't play FPS i didn't have the friend/team element i had for the COD / Battlefield games. I probably would have played more if i had friends messaging me to play like i did on PS3 or x360. That said not sure i can blame just the game elements for not playing as much but EA chose to make this game exclusive and that effected how much i play, that said i would have purchased it for PS4 if it was multiplaform so i understand its a business decision, for that i cannot give it a higher score

The pace of the multiplayer game took time to get used too but after a few games you realise how much the game needs to be fast flowing otherwise it just wouldn't be the same.
The weapons are well balanced without any clear winners, each one is suitable for a given situation and there is enough in there to choose from and the modifications are very useful in there own way without making them overpowered.
The titans themselves are something to fear when fighting but you have to think carefully when using your own as they are not overpowered and can easily be brought down when outnumbered this adds some great teamwork as you see players working together with there titans.

The maps are a really good size and doesn't affect that it is 6 v 6 as I think anymore players would make the game too hectic to play.
Also the audio in the game is 10/10 as there are loads of little things that make the gameplay just spot on and so immersing.
The campaign is a bit weak but to unlock the other titans must be played but it does give you an insight of the story of the fight between the militia and the IMC.
Other than the campaign the game is almost the perfect shooter with the DLC supplying fresh maps to keep the game interesting.

Titanfall on the Xbox One is a beautiful, fast paced and spectacular game that is fun but lacks in depth and long term interest. After all the hype leading up to release; the final game is distinctly lacking which leads to huge disappointment.

Titanfall on the Xbox One is a beautiful, fast paced and spectacular game that is fun but lacks in depth and long term interest. After all the hype leading up to release; the final game is distinctly lacking which leads to huge disappointment.

The game probably has the best FPS mechanics I've ever seen and it runs very smoothly. The game is balanced and the bullet detection is spot-on. These are critical areas in the genre and Titanfall has these bases covered. So what is wrong with it?

Firstly; 6v6 and bots is an issue. The maps are rich, varied and stunning but the combat often feels soulless. The player count has been sacrificed to accommodate the titans into the game and the gunplay really suffers for this. The core concept has ultimately destroyed a key part of the game already. The maneuvering and shooting may be fast and fluid but the combat just feels generic and samey. You can't change your play-styles or tactics as everything is frantic. This may please some but others may be looking for some tactical edge to add to the gameplay. Even in the few modes available; everything plays out essentially the same so there is no real diversity to the matches. 10 years ago this would have been brilliant but I feel people are just looking for that bit extra variation as they approach matches.

There is also a distinct lack of weapons and unlocks which is another critical issue for maintaining long-term interest. You can prestige similar to Call of Duty but there is literally no point as each generation offers nothing new in terms of weapons or customization. By level 45 in 20 hours; I'd pretty much unlocked and seen everything. There is no camo and most challenges you finish which also mimic COD just result in XP earned for leveling which as stated; feels pointless. The matchmaking and wait times are also completely and utterly unacceptable and often infuriating. The lack of players online also makes it difficult to get into matches quickly and efficiently.

Overall Titanfall should have been better. It does not deserve the hype and chances are you will be bored very quickly indeed. The game has some of the best positives ever seen within the genre but lets itself down in key areas which affect long term interest and enjoyment. You can have some fun on the game but in very quick instances. The core concept and lack of depth to the multiplayer leaves this game completely flawed. Even with more layers of unlocks and new modes which are possible in the future; I can't see the waning interest subsiding. The poor matchmaking and diminishing community reflects a lack of interest and at full price, even with a lack of games on the One so far; I'd avoid.

Hype wins. EA wins. Gamers get screwed. Don't fall for it.

I really like Titanfall. I can't give it a higher score because it doesn't have a campaign, and that makes me feel cheated to a certain extent, but it does multiplayer very well. I would give the game a 10 because even though the game is almost perfect for me, I still wish there was a real campaign mode instead of having the story integrated into multiplayer matches. it makes it difficult to understand what the story even is since I'm paying more attention to the match. Getting into matches took almost 5 minutes when I was new to the game but since the finding a match is a lot quicker.

Titanfall has been the only Xbox One game with released with limited addition peripherals (Titanfall Controller, Turtle Beach Headset and Xbox One Console) and with all the hype we were expecting something of epic proportions. Needless to say Titanfall has disappointed us.

Designed for multiplayer alone, this game is plagued with imperfections that game developers should have anticipated. The game does not shuffle players before beginning a new match, leaving the player stranded on either the losing or winning team from the previous match. The game also does not provide players with an option for voting for the next map, making the "I've Seen It All" Achievement difficult to obtain. The map rotation is also uneven, with players repeatedly playing the same six or seven maps, making the achievement even more difficult to obtain.

Overall the games lacks luster. During gameplay players find themselves sorting through the hoards of grunt and specter bots hoping to find pilots. The lack of killstreaks or bonuses for eliminating multiple pilots or titans makes the gameplay feel static and unrewarding. The game also lacks leader boards and features no way to compare your stats with other players.

A few things Titanfall does well is offer a good variety of maps out of the box, 15 in total. The game also features achievements for online play. Most of the achievements are easily obtainable as you play through either the campaign or ranked match modes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was so hyped for Titanfall. It was the first next-gen game to come out that wasn't a sequel to another game.
The first few hours were good, but then i realised that there was little to no guns at all, with very scarce customisation options, 3 scopes a silencer and extended mags, was not all the attachments I was expecting to be restricted to. The titans at first seem like they are powerful, but the anti-titan guns are very overpowered, and the titans aren't very reliable at all. Compared to battlefield, another of EA's games, the gameplay and gun play feel like they lack anything interesting. When I bought it for nearly £60, I have not played it for weeks, and that is an example of how unenjoyable the game is. Sure, they have nice graphics, but not NEXT-GEN graphics, I was really disappointed with this game

That isn't to say Titanfall is without a learning curve, but new players trying to get a feel for the game won't feel singled out or face excessive frustration picking up the nuances of the game. Titanfall showcases parkour and level verticality as its defining differentiators. Levels are clearly planned specifically for these new mechanics. The fluid parkour system successfully allows pilots to fully explore and exploit their environments in a surprisingly graceful manner. Titans and Pilots have been precisely balanced, so whether playing as a Pilot or a Titan you never have total advantage over the other. As polished, fast and fun as the game is, it became repetitive and stale to me rather quickly. After completing the lackluster campaign and regenerating multiple times, the game failed to hold my interest. I must admit I stopped playing before the release of any DLC, and that well may provide incentive for players to continue. The game was well polished, fast paced, and provided a refreshingly unique take on a largely stale genre. I most certainly had my share of exciting moments in TItanfall, and encourage others to play. There is no single player option, yet you will be charged full price for this title. The 'campaign' is played over about a dozen multiplayer maps, and the tepid story is fed in drips and drabs of cutscenes. Terribly, despite charging you for a MP only game, EA has the gall to charge 10$ for 3 maps just a few weeks after the game launched.

There are only a handful of game modes, and nothing groundbreaking. It can take close to 15 minutes to find a match. Because it's a COD clone, it attracts the same douchebag demographic, who have delighted in learning that for some reason, titans crouch, therefore can teabag.

Titanfall has been billed as groundbreaking, or innovative. This is false advertising. There is nothing in TF that can't be found in other games.

Titanfall isn't 2014's GOTY; if anything, it's the biggest disappointment. Titanfall is nothing short of your average CoD-grade (not good, by the way) that is devoid of content and appeal. You'll play it a good day, and then your interest will simply melt away. Titanfall is lacking of everything they needed: an addiction factor, a good amount of content, and an actual campaign.

Although Titanfall has MANY flaws, to be fair, let's look at the pros. The graphics are extraordinary and gripping, and maybe the best thing the game has to offer. The multiplayer is fun for a short while, but soon becomes the same thing over and over again until it's quite literally a grind where the player feels obliged to play, rather than want to. The titan idea is new and unique, but ideas only get you so far.

The game's lack of content (excluding maps) is one of the major issues. A heavy lack of weapons, perks, and abilities makes every player similar to another.

Now yes, I know their reasoning for not having a campaign. However, I think it's a stupid reason. A campaign would add greatly needed playing time to the game.

Overall, Titanfall is disappointing. It hasn't lived up to its expectations, and I doubt it ever will.

However, the abundance of 10/10 reviews are completely unwarranted -- And not to mention suspicious. Most of these posters have 1 review. one. For Titanfall... And many of them read suspiciously similar. But I digress.

    The bad:

The major detraction of this game is its complete lack of content and misleading advertisement of a (nearly non existent) "campaign" which amounts to little more than a voice over during the pre-drop portion of the map. Otherwise it is the exact same as the MP. A measly three titans with no aesthetic customization and bare bones weapon/perk customization leaves a lot to be desired. The vanilla map rotation gets real old real quick as there simply are just not enough maps. A grand total of three Titans makes you wonder what exactly they spent their time doing. Surely it was not refining the concept and story. Over priced DLC and a a season-pass plan that are down right unscrupulous considering how LITTLE this game came with considering its 60 dollar pricetag. But this is a matter of opinion, and for many, not really a negative aspect.

The titans themselves are okay. Although I'm not sure that the various classes of chassis (heavy, medium, light) actually have enough of a role to change their functionality. They basically all do the same things, have the same weapons, etc. Ultimately the differences come down to maneuverability and the differences in maneuverability between the three are negligible at best.

The grahpics, I personally feel, are just fine, however many have cited this as something they take issue with. I believe this mostly has to do with the "next gen" tagline. I'm not sure what people expected in terms of graphical fidelity, but this seems fine to me. Some of the textures are grainy up close, but whatever. I can live with that. The truth is, the graphics are about where I expected them to be for a "next gen" console -- As a PC gamer, perhaps it is more forgivable as I realize "nextgen console" is really a "last gen PC".

    The good:

The maps that are there are well designed for both pilots and titans, textures and graphics are decent (although many were disappointed when they heard that they were supposed to be "next gen" -- Unfortunately "next gen" consoles ultimately are the equivalent of "last gen" for PC's.)

The gun play handles similarly to any CoD title you've ever played, making it accessible and fun.

the "parkour" is great fun and adds another element to the typical shooter experience. Although perhaps not as innovative as Max Payne's "bullet time" system, it is, nonetheless, a nice change from your typical modern day / not so distant future shooter.

Ripping pilots out of their titan with your own to finish them, is, quite simply, totally awesome. Although I do wish there were more animations for different styles of finishing moves. I also quite enjoy ripping the arm off the enemy titan and beating him to "death" with. it.

The game is both ower rated and under rated. The actualy game deserves a 7 out of ten. Nothing realy original about this game but titans. Everything else is tooken from some other game. Actualy whole titan thing also reminds me of Steel Battlelation. Its good for new comers to fps genra and not bad when compered to other modern First person shooters..

-The parkour style movement is easily this game's strongest point. It's just downright silly fun
-The gameplay is responsive and solid feeling
-The game rewards skill with success, if you're good, you will perform well
-The game punishes badness with failure, New concept: If you're bad, YOU ACTUALLY LOSE. WOAH! I could rant for days about this. I am so SICK AND ******* TIRED of the current FPS environment slowly removing skill from the equation. I won't though...deep breath.
-Burn cards are a very fun feature
-The graphics are for the most part, excellent.
-The autopistol is ACTUALLY balanced. I'm astounded by this, really.
-Comes FREE with the X1 bundle

    Cons:
-The game has almost ZERO aim-assist, or "target magnetism" This is a HUGE problem considering the constant double jumps and speed of players. It's brutal.
-Too many titans, too often. You're either in one, or taking one out. Person to person combat is too rare.
-The level design is bad. Most levels don't complement the parkour movement system usefully.
-Not enough guns. Again, NOT ENOUGH GUNS. DOUBLE the amount and it would be alright.
-Sniper rifles are a terrible choice, people move too quickly to even consider hitting most times.
-Shotguns don't get enough range OR damage to be of use in most situations.
-Satchel Charges/C4 are immensely overpowered against titans.
-Some burn cards are game-breaking. (free ogre titan at 00:05 anyone?)
-The game gets stale very quickly, there's not enough to accomplish beyond just winning a match.
-The "prestige" or "generation" system contributes nothing. I'll say that again, you get NOTHING.
-The story line needed more backstory, or to just be removed. I can't comprehend the need for a storyline in a multiplayer environment. JUST PLAY FOR FUN! Especially considering you don't pick your team in most situations. It's just silly. Depth is for a campaign, multiplayer is about competition.
-The kicking melee is just silly. It should only happen when you're jetpacking through the air. Otherwise it should be some sort of blade.

    Summary:

This game had all the potential in the world to be great, but it just didn't deliver. There isn't enough content to keep the player coming back. Once you've reached max level the first time around, you have pretty much experienced Titanfall in its completeness. Titans are far too common and the game in its entirety seems to consist of either killing titans, being in a titan, or being killed by a titan.

If this game had a no-titans game mode I would raise this review to an 8/10. As ironic as that is, this game would be vastly improved by having LESS TITANS in it.

The game simply has no depth beyond a match-to-match win or loss. Once a game is over, it ceases to matter. There are no long term goals, and there is no way to show off your prowess in the lobby, or on your 'playercard' beyond your rank...which simply amounts to "time played".

What would further improve the environment of play:
-More guns (it gets stale exponentially faster than other games due to the woefully inadequate selection)
-Make shotguns and snipers a non-irresponsible choice of weapon
-ADD AIM ASSIST, at least on par with Halo's. If there ever was a game that needed it, this is the game.
-Add an endless game mode (an endless deathmatch lobby where players come and go as they please, match bonus is received upon leaving.)
-Add some sort of accolade or trophy system ingame. Give players a "playercard" where they can show off their most impressive accomplishments. This is something that, until recently, Call of Duty has done very well.

    My score: 7/10

I will concede that the "campaign" was fairly pointless, but a good exercise to get you through some of the maps.

    nice balance of weapons/abilities.

Call of duty is so bland and has been for years. Titanfall is new and deserves the hype that it gets. There is something exhilarating about calling in a Titan while being shot at, then having him pick you up and put you in the cockpit at the last second. This game, above all, is fair, equal, it's not overdone. The Titans are strong and sturdy, but even the newest pilot can take one down. There's a certain balance between the pilots and titans that needs to be recognized. Just because you are in a Titan doesn't mean that you're safe. Also, this game doesn't ride on the call of duty idea, "can't get a kill? No kill streak." If you don't get any kills, your Titan still comes. Theres no reason to rage quit a match. The game also looks beautiful, the sunlight through the trees as you're scaling buildings or running across walls. The sounds and world are believable, and that's awesome. The only thing that could make the game better is some kind of offline mode. Every once and a while, my internet may shut down or I might just want to play alone. I think the game would deserve a 10 if it had some sort of offline campaign or just custom match. But even without these, the game is great, just make sure you have a solid internet connection or the game is basically a waste of money. Titanfall is the future of first person shooters, and in my opinion, has beaten call of duty to the top. Call of duty no longer sits on it's throne. Call of duty gets old after a couple weeks, but titanfall never fails to impress, excite and entertain. If you have an xbox one, you should already have titanfall. If you don't, go and get it right now. Standing by for titanfall. Expand

Titanfall is a good game, but doesn't really have much long-lasting potential. It's easy to get tired of playing, and the graphics are definitely last-generation. The concept has a ton of potential, but the actual game doesn't quite live up.

However the game extremely lacks in contact, While having a large map count, the amount of customization is quiet disappointing. For being a multiplayer only game I would have expected more than about 10 weapons, half of them being awful compared to the others. There is a low perk count and even the weapons themselves have almost no attachments to chose from. Having an extreme lack of content, but having great gameplay, which is very important, I give this a 7. I would sadly probably still play call of duty over this game because it has more content. Is this game worth buying xbox1? Yes, because you should already own one and this game is free if you buy one. Is it worth $60? Personally yes, I have already put over 24 hours into the game and that makes me feel happy about spending $60 Expand

    I'm a little disappointed, overall.

I've more or less completed the game in seven hours. What I mean is, for a 'multiplayer only' game, there's not a lot about it; I've unlocked all weapons, all mechs, completed both campaigns and in... well, seven hours. That should be there already If I'm spending £40 for seven hours.

That being said, the game plays great; Pilots, (Standard, on-foot players) balance perfectly against Titans. Never has there been a moment where I've said "Bollocks" after being blown to pieces by a Titan. Never have I said "No" after being blown to pieces by an enemy Pilot's anti-titan rocket launcher. Its all balanced perfectly.

The free-running system is fantastic and adds a completely new level to the game, where Titans and buildings alike can be clambered upon and used to gain a tactical advantage, or just to lose your enemy. (As a pilot you can double jump! :D)

Gun combat is satisfying; you find yourself zipping and diving through buildings, laying waste to enemy pilots and AI grunts* (akin to Dota's 'creeps') with speed, purpose and clinical precision. Health is limited, keeping you on your toes, while as a Titan, you're simply a big, metal badass; the game go's from ducking and diving to colossal, stubborn tanking in the change from Pilot to Titan, if you play your cards right.

I can say that this game makes me feel great when I play, but despite this I feel as if I'm playing for nothing more than a 'prestige' rank after seven hours of entertainment. Long term, it's just lacking and empty. Guns have one or two notable attachments, and Titans have one or armaments that I only ever use. That's about it.

Not worth the price; it needs to be built upon first. I'm looking forward to Titanfall 2.

    Pros:
The gameplay is solid. Unique-ish mechanics, titans are a fun addition (though I prefer to play as a pilot), and guns are well balanced.
Graphics are excellent. Cons: Not really as original as the reviews made it seem. It's still a fairly basic shooter. Plot? What plot? Very few maps. Full game price for half a game. It's fun, but it's not really $60 worth of fun.

If you're deciding whether or not to get the standard Xbox One bundle (w/ Forza) or the Titanfall bundle, then it's definitely worth getting the Titanfall bundle (especially if they're the same price as they were when I bought my Xb-one). Aside from a few minor quibbles (I can jump across streets and hop over entire buildings, but a knee-high window ledge is insanely finicky to get past?) Titanfall is undoubtedly a great game which does an exceptional job of breathing new life into an increasingly-stale genre.
