The second fact is that every single person who has rated this game a zero is a PS4 fan who is desperate to bring down the review score, as NO game that is as bug free as Titanfall is as I am sorry but a game is not bad just because you don't like the concept of it. Nobody should have rated this game a zero, as it is well made and polished. Now, this game is very fast paced, smooth, twitchy, and fluent. People who are worried about replayability will not be disappointed as far as I can see, as you are constantly unlocking things and finding out new things about each map the more that you play them, that mean that you will destroy your opponents in game modes like CTF as nobody else will know how on earth you got where you were and then you are on the final straight to the end because of it, while everyone else has no clue how to chase you. Chasing. This game is amazing because of that single word. That moment when you are sprinting and start to get shot and you know that you cannot win the gunfight, so you initiate a wall run and the chase starts. Last night me and another guy had a chase that lasted at least 30 seconds, and we didn't touch the floor once, and then I jumped up one wall and started to wall hang and watched the other guy continue on because he didn't see me, so I just killed him. This was just absolutely phenomenal. Moments like that make a game, and there are so many of those moments as you play. People are complaining about the game being overpriced for a multiplayer only game, but the problem is that you knew what you were buying and the fact is that you spend maybe four hours on the campaign and 100 hours on the multiplayer, meaning that devs put in a whole lot of effort for not much reward, and there is only a minority of people who actually bother with campaigns. This game is worth the money as I can assure you that you will enjoy this game if you put a bit of time into it to understand all of the mechanics. People who rate it low because they think that it is COD with mechs also have played the game for no more than 15 minutes. This is the same thing as your dad watching over your shoulder as you play and claiming that all of the games look the same as you are behind a gun in all of them. The fact is, if you play it then you realise how the mechanics differ from other games. This game is different, fun, and a very enjoyable experience that you won't get annoyed with, and I know I will be coming back to this game in years to come, much like I do with COD 4, and claim that I wish fps games are like they used to be. in my opinion this game is worth $35-$45 tops not what the current retail value of $60 your better of playing BF4 for more bang for your buck ya its got problems but @ least its more stable than it was !!!

The idea is there, but I feel like it's a lot of wasted potential. I'm not saying that the game is outright BAD... I'm just saying that it could have been A LOT better. There's not enough weapon variety, the maps are really lacking and the combat is a bit bare-boned.
But these are things that can AND will be fixed.

I'd just like to dismiss both sides of the consoles fans right now and say that:
The game is not absolute garbage
    and
the game is not a masterpiece game changer that will revolutionize shooters as say something like CoD 4 did.

it's in the middle and it's more leaning to the good side of things. Stop complaining and play the god damn game if you think it's bad.

Respawn has successfully created the only game that isn't frustrating, yet challenging, and not once has it made me want to rage quit. I wish more people actually talked during matches, sometimes it's more SilentFall than TitanFall.

On a side note, MetaCritic needs to get their act together with the user score shenanigans, I don't think they have moderators at all. It's sad that such a widely used site doesn't care about integrity.

Titanfall delivers what I believe to be the best multiplayer experience around. The game is fast, fun, and. Most important it is a balanced game. Balance is where titanfall finds its perfection. The universe for titanfall allows for variety in its beautiful 15 maps. Yes its not the prettiest game, but the art design makes up for it.

For peopled who are thinking about buying this game there are a couple of things you should be aware of. Although titanfall had a multiplayer campaign it is not what you would normally expect from a regular campaign. The most I got out of the campaign was a little bit of background for some of the multiplayer maps. Before buying titanfall you should be aware of this do you are not disappointed. Another thing to know is the game does feel like its lacking a bit in some areas. There are only 5 gamemodes and not much customization besides the basics. Even though its lacking in these areas the game itself is not affected because it's still a lot of fun to play.

Overall I find that the game is a unique experience. No it doesn't change the fps genre but it does add something unique to it. You can't compare it to cod, bf, or halo because titanfall is it's own game. If you love to play fps just to have a great time in multiplayer with your friends then titanfall is the game for you.

This is really fun and something I hope to so more of from other developers. As for everything else it is simply fantastic. It's great fu to mix up your tactics with your titan and use them to act as your guardian while you run about on foot and then jump in to make a quick escape from the heat of battle. The only thing preventing me from giving this game a solid 10 is the lack of a true single player campaign but I am willing to overlook that with so much other goodness being brought to the table, the FPS genre has truly changed and taken a step forward. The game is a lot of fun, a good callback to the run and gun feeling of older games with nice new graphics and gameplay. The titans add a lot to the normal hiding behind chest high walls, lobbing grenades, and shooting around corners. The titan's AI isn't to bad itself following you and providing a nice distraction or taking care of those pesky bots. The maps provide plenty of space for running, climbing, rockem' sockem' robots fun.

    BUT,

The"Multiplayer Campaign" is pretty sad, not really anything but a small variety pack with most of the variety taken out. The lack of game modes can make the game rather dull a little to quickly. The lack of guns and abilities can wear thin as well. The AI, at least on bots, as everyone else has said is dense. I understand that the point of bots is to mainly cut your titanfall time down and to allow unskilled players something to provide the team with. The graphics aren't terrible like everyone else says, maybe not perfect but definitely not bad.

In summary, it's a good game. Slightly lacking in content but overall fun. I wouldn't suggest buying a console for this game ( buying a console for any one game for that matter ) but it's not terrible like so many reviews have stated.

No matter how small you may feel in the battle you always have a chance to survive and keep fighting. I will say that the bots in-game are a little annoying as it is hard to tell if it is a bot or an enemy (unless looking at the radar) and you can find yourself shooting a bunch of bots and end up getting killed by a real player.

Titanfall was designed to be a online multiplayer game only. Which is why some people rate it low, because it doesn't have a campaign. Which is ridiculous, you can't fault a game for not going with the norm of all multiplayer games having a single player

The answer is it shouldn't.

Titanfall design choices have really made a unique game, and these choice have been the criticism of faults mostly by people who've never played the game. They complain about bots, but the bots are mostly just part of the environment, you don't fault game for intractable object within the multiplayer match.

    Pro

Fluid Game (Parkour movements are solid, and the Titans feel great)
Best Balanced (Nothing seems overpowered or underpowered)
Great Maps (15 maps is the most we've seen in a while from any game, and they all are pretty unique)

    Cons

Sometimes labels don't appear fast enough above players, I'm shooting at my team grunt for a while in till it finally appears, but then its gives away my postion.

short list of game modes, they have all the basics, but I'd like to see a pilot only mode.

Really fun online experience. However, I am extremely disappointed in the lack of campaign. This game could have been something really great. As much fun as I am having with it, I am only giving it a 7/10 because I feel it is incomplete. I play games for the full experience and unfortunately the multiplayer is only a portion of the experience.

If you want a fast well made and balanced multiplayer shooter that isn't played out like COD or BF then I highly recommend this game, I'm sure with updates more game modes will become available. Is it video game perfection like the hype claims? No but if you want to have a good time tearing s**t up, and to actually have something addicting to play on the Xbox One then look no further.

$60? You paid $500, might as well for a game like this.
Graphics? For next gen I expect a little bit better but they are still great 8.5/10
Sound? Everything sounds like it should 10/10
Accessibility? I've had no problems finding any match and my friends were able to join as long as you're connection is good 8/10

I had huge expectations but was still blown away. The campaign mode doesn't work as well as it could, but when you play it's just so much fun it doesn't even matter. Everytime I start wallrunning I get a kick, everytime I call for Titanfall I get a kick, and everytime I jump out of a Titan I get a kick, and I could go on. Just a huge amount of fun!

The main features of this "game" you ask? Instant-respawns, tiny length matches limited to 6v6 with bots, aimbot rapid-fire pistols, 6+ year old graphics, no campaign and non-stop repetitive "run & gun" combat with little to no variation on small maps. Truly the definition of an overhyped piece of garbage. Terrible game, 30GB of the 50GB is just bloated audio assets.

I know, is a fun game. But I have to write about Titanfall problems.
1- Is just a Call of Duty clone. Every moviment, gameplay, shoting, weapons is at least similar to CoD.
2- Is a 6x6 multiplayer with the "dumbest" bots of all time. Why? I told you. Because Titanfall wants you and everyone killing more than dying. Every noob will think he is good. The titan it self help on this way too.

3- Titanfall is a combination of a Call of Duty Productor + EA Games + Microsoft Plataform. Could it be worse?
4- Like Call of Duty, Titanfall was made to make noobs happy. On both games is very easy to kill. Just hold the trigger and the weapon will do the magic for you. You can be far away from the target, but all the shots will go perfectly straight to it. The weapon dont have recoil, is so artificial. All this things make the game more easy for the noobs.Even Counter Strike 1.5 has more realistic weapons than CoD and Titanfall.
5- Concluding: Im not saying that you cant have fun with this game. You probably will. But dont change the fact that Im talking about. That game sucks like CoD, but will sell like water. Unfortunately.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is amazing, the only problem I find with this game is the weapons there are available and the generally thing are the in this game, if you ask me there are to few things you can unlock for 10 generations. (weapons for pilots and titans, tiers, secondary, and so on)

around 11-15 weapons that's it. I find it a disappointed thing.

Single Player should't be focused on, it's a fresh idea a campaign in Online, but the problem is that you can focus on the Campaign because you are more focused not to lose to the other team, you don't really listen to the dialogue and the small cut-scenes (up in the right corner)

The game is cool, and doesn't deserve below 6. It's fast paced and you are entertained.

The last thing I found annoying is that you found more BOTS than players in this game, it can be frustrating sometimes, but worth the price and I recommend the game, just hope they will add new weapons in the future, or this game can die quickly.

Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo need to get together and form some sort of marketing 'Triforce' to remove, kick EA's blackened gnarled roots out of the verdent soil of gaming and send them back to Sheol and the netherworlds from whence they came!! And with that invasive virulence you can add that incestuous organization called 'Hollywood'. You software guys never needed either of them to make great games; you always have had it within you! Battlefield 4, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare, and now this game Titanfall are all experiencing server dropouts, in some cases (BF4 and PvZ) freeze-ups, and server lag (PvZ). Are not Microsofts servers handling Titanfall? Someone out there does not understand their tech and we are all getting the fallout (frustration and disappointment) from it. And they are getting our dollars and hard earned money. Only for me, not this time because I have a merciful friend in retail who took back my copy of Titanfall at full value. The beta, or so I thought, was to be just a taste of what was to come. A pre-cursor to an expanded deeper universe filled with imagination and adventures to be shared. Alas, the only sharing so far are kill-to-deaths stats etc., 'Upload' video clips adnauseam of clever kills, questions like "What were the story and campaign about really?", about how bad the matchmaking is (because of this issue do the competitive aspects of the game really matter if a team of level 1-6s are pited against a team of 20s and above), and the technical shortcomings. Perhaps there is no matchmaking and the process has devolved into some sort of sadistic event where everyone is just thrown into the crucible and the guy at the highest level with all the upgrades and experience is going to be the 'team' winner sending all of those lower levels who havn't even been allowed yet to upgrade scurrying for extraction. But that lower level must persevere and earn his or her right to manhood by continuing on. I gave this game a five because it comes with the yellow icon which means typically caution. Attempts to make anew and evolve I have always respected. It is to my mind a mandate for we humans to grow and improve ourselves. But there can become a dark side if not assessed, examined, and checked for abuses and hurtfulness. In this light for example, EA has GOT TO GO! The game Titanfall tries but 'falls' short. If you like(d) Unreal Tournament, which I did in its time, this game may be a good experience. It is however, a hefty pricetag for such a one dimensional game, you must be online to play it, and against always your fellow man. I heard someone refer to our culture as the 'culture of death' recently. For me this describes a continuing slide into deeper levels of banality. This game teeters on the precipace. Just running around shooting everything in sight that is moving for upgrades, stats, and bragging rights is becoming redundant and old for me personally. Interesting for a short while and then ................. Plants vs Zombies GW has also become just a shoot-em-up? These guys (more so the publishers) have found a formula that Titanfall uses which predates on human curiousity and the seeming power associated with creating and evolving a personal character in the virtual world. A distillation process that is slowley extracting any other content from the game other than the advancement of ones avatar in a context of attraction of their choosing which seems to be based on what gamers are buying. It is becoming less about content and more about big money, which people wanting and needing more of are sorely lacking (content) in my experiences. I give Titanfall a 5 because of the technical flaws, lack of content and false advertising, it has a few interesting wrinkles in gameplay (wall running etc.), online only and the resultant matchmaking, and average (especially in the character modeling) graphics. Will Respawn truely live up to their implied name or wilt under the tyranny of the publisher? And yet they may not know the difference anymore either. Just another fancy name lacking grit. And I like very much that we the 'users' get to pen reviews based on our hearts, emotions, feeling, and moral choices. Perhaps even more vital than a preset 'choice' and criteria of strategies and categaries! Remember the Pharisees. Expand

The two styles blend together near perfectly. This is a very balanced game. Everything appears to be running on nitro or Methamphetamine. It's graphics are nothing special and poorly optimized or the PC but it gets the job done. BUT and this is a big but. This game is as bare bones as games get. I think they're are 5 game modes (two near identical) 8 main weapons, 3 side arms, 6 Titan weapons, a couple, maybe three upgrades per gun, 3 Titan types........... and that's really about it. I've already unlocked everything in the game and nearly maxed out my level and it's only been out for a few days. In contrast I'm still unlocking Battlefield 4 weapons. Though there are 15 maps ranging from good to incredible. On top of this it is an multiplayer ONLY game. There is a refreshing and interesting attempt at a "campaign" that is essentially multiplayer matches melded with a short story told through a couple cut scenes and pre match scenes but mostly voice overs done during the match. It is only 9 matches long though. You CAN play it from both the military (IMC) and the rebels (militia.) It's just not enough though. A worthy attempt and actually a rather new and well done idea. It's just not enough. And I think that's what really sums this game up the best. It's fast, fun, balanced, rewarding and something slightly new BUT so bare bones it's hard to find it worth $60 unless this is the only sort of game you play. Possibly some future DLC will add some more depth and features but those features should have already been in the game. There was also a few odd choices when it comes to things like difficulty in playing with your friends, voting on the next map and not being able to browse the servers. The base game is solid and rewards you constantly. Even the odd idea of only 6v6 and incorporating AI soldiers into the matches pays off overall, I think.... Though the AI is probably in all honesty the WORST bot intelligence I've ever seen in a shooter. You WILL NOT die by a grunt or specter. I like this game but feel it's charm and uniqueness fading fast. With all the content already unlocked within a couple days for an ONLY multiplayer game is outrageous and truly disappointing. I can see this feeling like a rip off to some gamers. I recommend this to fans of the FPS multiplayer gaming arena but no one else until it gets at least a 33% price cut. Expand

Unlike many other games (Cough-cough) they keep the game fast paced by adding in CPUs, which also add a sense of accomphlishment for players that arent necessarily as talented as others. In the end, its worth the $60 much more than any other game than you will probably buy this year.

Gone are those pesky kill streaks that people camp for, making majority of the people running and gunning. What this game is great at is the feeling of fun when you play and those moments that you can record to share with your friends just by saying "xbox record that". Sure the Titans are a bit overpowered because they can just run around the map stomping and blasting away at their enemies and sometimes when you try to jump on them you get "crushed" but it's not like you need to get 10 kills without dying to get your own. Perhaps the most fustrating thing is trying to get "randoms" to cooperate properly in order to complete and win objective game types, as they might just be running around trying to get kills all on their own(just like any other first person shooters). Otherwise, it is a fantastic experience that has not been around for years. After playing for 3 days, I can say I had more fun than playing other games for the past 4 months. Expand

I could not tell you one thing that happened in the campaign besides that some dude died and I don't even know who nor did I or anyone care. One thing that concerned me with the beta that they seem to have adjusted was the titan vs pilot balance, you can kill titans on foot pretty easily... not very easily by any stretch but it seems a little easier than in the betas and you can survive (sometimes) a run-in with a titan. Someone else brought up a point about liking the pilot game better than using the titans and there are some maps where I agree with that, and often times i use my titan to defend me or to run in and try and nuclear eject and kill a couple titans and people. But at the same time that is why I like this game more than I expected to, on the surface it seems like a run around and shoot senselessly but there is actually a lot of strategy involved with the burn cards, titans, and everything really. There are times I leave my titan waiting to drop for 5 minutes, times I drop it right away, times I use certain burn cards (the endless grenade ones are the best by far IMO). The game is fun, I don't care about things like "Screen tearing" or "frame-rate dropping" or any of that technical crap. The game looks great, plays great, and hopefully will stay that way. I hope they add more add-ons, weapons, and burn cards... its doubtful but with an MP only game hopefully they do. One gripe is that I feel at times some rounds are too short, this is mostly in attrition (which is most of the campaign so you wait for 2-3 minutes between the lobby and the intro crap to play and the game ends in 5 mins) it seems but if you play pilot hunter it goes much longer. This game does feel different, and its fast paced and hard to put down and it's original... I would highly recommend, I am concerned for the long term life of it as I've seen mentioned but I think its worth a purchase and I will have faith that they will update it often Expand

Yes, there's no single player, yes there are features missing, but from what I could tell, the developers at Respawn spent a large chunk of their time meticulously refining the core gameplay mechanics, ensuring weapons and abilities are balanced and not overly saturated (having 50+ weapons does not imply you're game is good), that parkour isn't just some jumping off walls mechanic that's haphazardly thrown in just for a cool effect, and the battles between titans and pilots can have the same outcome as a titan vs. titan battle, despite the odds in the David vs. Goliath type matchup. That in itself is what sold it to me and I am perfectly ok with a solid FPS game as opposed to areas that may be broken just to add that extra layer of fluff that everyone expects now that they have been used to CoD and BF, which is totally fine by the way, I don't blame anyone for feeling like the game feels "incomplete," that's your opinion. :)

Anyway, I strongly recommend this game. I've logged almost 13 hours playing the past two days and can't get enough of this. This is the first title that all my friends and I love unanimously and play together and I don't see us slowing down one bit with future map packs and other enhancements that Respawn has promised thus far (I have read Vince Zampella's Twitter account and so far he has confirmed that Private matches and Class Loadout renaming will be coming, so you know that they're acknowledging our feedback). I would have given it a 10, but I have given a 9 because yes like you, I enjoy a story, and I do love the inclusion of Campaign Multiplayer, however I had a really hard time trying to follow the story and was hoping for some additional cutscenes or maybe in-game "events" that would affect gameplay and allow you to understand how you are progressing the story. With that said, I do want to learn more about the lore of Titanfall and if anything, the game has introduced me to that.

Congrats to Respawn for such an amazing game, especially as a start-up development studio, and I hope this is just the first of many. Looking back to the jump from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (multiplayer that is), I can see where they're going and I am very excited about the prospects.

    * First off, the graphics. They are decent, nothing mind blowing, but decent.
The game looks slightly better than last gen (ps3/x360), but nothing mind blowing. Just better textures, more particle effects and perhaps better lighting. A solid 8 there for effort... at least compared to contemporary games. There are better looking games, I wont lie. However, this is not an eyesore and for what its meant to do, it looks great.

    * Gameplay: As I said before, it is fun. Granted this is subject to taste and opinion. However, for me, it rates a solid 8.5 or 9 in fun factor. Higher with friends, lower with random tards.
The controls are responsive, the game seems well balanced so far.
The only thing I would have added is a bit of environmental destruction.. not much but more than the current level of windows. Its hard to watch a titan blasting at a pilot hiding in a window and not see ANY form of destruction taking place.

    * Online play: Well, its all online. As I said its fun, flows well, seems fairly lag free so far, so good work. They missed a few key features, such as letting you join with more than 6 people or map voting.

    * Innovation: Well...its not the cure for cancer, nor is it anything that has not really been done before in some part elsewhere. However, it is the first time these elements have been combined into a well balanced package that qualifies as something fun to do.

    * Single player/offline mode.... wait there is not one! So if you have slow internet speeds, flaky internet, or live in a region with no local servers (Australia, I am looking your way), then you will be sucking wind. The game is simply not playable offline. At the very least they could have offered a 2x2 local play split screen mode or even a 4v4 local network play as halo did years ago.
It worries me a little that my purchase may be worthless in the event of a net outage or loss of support from the dev which will come some day.
At the very least they need to offer the option for private servers so that someday, when they discontinue support, this game will still be playable for those who still want to enjoy their purchase.

All in all, its a fun game. If you enjoy FPS type games, give this a try.

The gameplay is fast (really fast), and urges you to keep moving and use the verticality of the maps to your advantage - this is not a linear shoot'em up game. The jetpack and wall running make moving around the map advantageous as you try to out maneuver the competition and get the drop on them. The cool down timer for your Titan is chipped away at every time you shoot something - another player, titan, or the minions/spectres that even out the playing field - which means you need to be active to bring your titan into the game quicker. That means less camping and more traditional gun fights like Unreal Tournament or Halo 2. It works well and keeps the pace moving throughout the match. It's more than just 'CoD with Mechs', it's a well thought-out IP that lives up to the hype. Titanfall isn't without its flaws (no private matches, lack of customization, connection issues, no story/campaign), but those can be easily fixed with patches/updates in the near future. The game is impressive and certainly worth getting if you're looking for a departure from the status quo FPS' of the last 10 years or so. This is a must have for any XboxOne owners. Expand

So, for the meat. This game has amazing mobility, that is extremely fluid on the PC. The game runs amazingly well. It has a great balance, and your actions seem to really matter. The game builds you, from the ground up, as a hero. From being able to run like a mad man all over the place, to farming grunts, to being able to bring down Titans. You and the other players are the heros.

The game has some issues that need fixed. It needs a much better match making system.
There are only a handful of guns. I see this as a strength and weakness. It allows for great balance, but at the cost of customization.

Most issues are fairly minor. I really do enjoy this game..

Titanfall has no right to be this good. It comes from a team who was originally a Call of Duty machine, it's exclusive to Microsoft platforms which are currently losing the battle for Next Generation dominance, and at it's core, it's a first person shooter trying to blend the fluidity of Call of Duty, traversal of Mirror's Edge, and mech combat of popular franchises such as Armored Core orTitanfall has no right to be this good. It comes from a team who was originally a Call of Duty machine, it's exclusive to Microsoft platforms which are currently losing the battle for Next Generation dominance, and at it's core, it's a first person shooter trying to blend the fluidity of Call of Duty, traversal of Mirror's Edge, and mech combat of popular franchises such as Armored Core or the recently released PC exclusive Hawken. What's so shocking is that Titanfall shouldn't be underestimated as it takes all of these different and strange elements and fuses them into one of the greatest multiplayer experiences ever crafted.

Titanfall's plot isn't going to win any awards for itself. The Campaign mode is presented to the player in a series of pre game exposition shots and dialogue, where as the gameplay is simply a multiplayer match with that very same exposition unfolding in the background. This style of story telling falls mostly flat in the game due to the kinetic and chaos filled gameplay in the forefront. You're already to busy jumping onto Titans, running along walls, and breaking necks to take notice of the character dialogue being shouted at you. What makes this campaign weaker is how it unfolds. The campaign is over within three hours for both sides which allows most players to play it once and never return, but don't think you can just skip it, you're going to need to beat each side at least once if you want to unlock the Stryder and Ogre Titan Chassis.

Another weakness of Titanfall are the graphics. Titanfall runs on a heavily modified Source Engine (Yes, THAT Source Engine) and it shows. On the Xbox One, jaggies are rampant at times, textures are low resolution, and the framerate goes from 60 to 40 when the action heats up. The counter to this is the beautiful art style and map design which stuns you with vibrant colors and metallic buildings. This serves as a viable distraction to the otherwise shoddy looking visuals. It should also be noted that Titanfall runs at aere 792p on the Xbox One, with the potential to possibly be expanded to 900p with FXAA or 1080p with no method of AA at all.

Finally, the gameplay of Titanfall is stunning. Even with a limited number of modes, guns, and options, Titanfall's core gameplay is one of the best around. Do you see a tall building? Run on the side of it. Are you in a battle with an enemy Titan? Boost up to him using your Jump-Kit (which is basically a jet pack), pull off a piece of his armor and open fire on his insides. Have you gotten a lot of points? Standby for Titanfall. You can enjoy the satisfying and gratifying feeling of watching your behemoth Titan crackle through the atmosphere and land in a powerful crush in front of you. It is then that you can hop in and start your own personal reign of destruction. It is all of these parts that make Titanfall so special when they all lock together. The rush of being in your Titan and punching another Titan into the ground only to have to set off a nuclear sized explosion by ejecting and flying thousands of feet into the sky in a pure adrenaline rush and it's an adrenaline rush that no game has ever given you before. When all of these pieces move in a swift motion, Titanfall towers above all of it's competition.

Titanfall may not be perfect, but it is as close as you will get in this day and age. For years, we have been waiting for the "Call of Duty 4" or the "Halo 2" to come and re-revolutionize the first person shooter genre and with Titanfall, we finally see that shot in the arm the genre and the players have been clamoring for. It is with this knowledge that Titanfall receives from me... a 9/10.

I was not impressed at all by the beta, but the full game gave me a chance to revisit. So after two days of intense sessions i have come to a point where i can say i love this game. I think the very strong point of this games is that it brings fun for both the really good players AND the new comers that are not really good at FPS. Visually, the graphics are good, not incredible, it is the Valve Source engine, the nuance here is that Source engine have powered Half-Life 2 10 years ago but the Source engine has greatly evolved since 2004.

    Bottom line : Fun, addictive

The most fun I've had since I got my hands on Halo, or Super Smash bros for the first time. Wow. I forgot that games could be this much fun. This is a must own for anyone who has a machine to play it. I've played on Xbox One. Not sure what these poor scores are coming from, probably people who haven't played the game. Just to be 100% clear, this game is years ahead of anything else. ThereThe most fun I've had since I got my hands on Halo, or Super Smash bros for the first time. Wow. I am giving this a 10 because of all the Sony fanboys giving it a 0. It really is more of 9.25-9.5 though. One reviewer in the negative section even said "the single player campaign is much too short" There is no single player campaign, hence that is a negative review jut to be a troll.

So I was skeptical about buying this game but after reading a score of 0 and checking the users profile to see his only 2 reviews being killzone shadow fall as a 10 and titanfall as a 0 any game that could get a fanboy mad enough to create an account is worth the money. Limited customization options are my only complaint although this could be expanded upon in the future. Expand

Does this game live up to all the hype? No, how could it? Does that mean it's a bad game? Not at all, it's a immensely fun shooter. I've been playing the PC version and loving it.

After spending about 11 hours within the first couple days of TitanFall's release, I can say that this is absolutely the best thing out on the market in terms of shooters. The game is fast and chaotic but remains tight and easy to pick up. Everyone can have fun even if your team does lose a round. The game modes aren't anything revolutionary as they borrow from a lot of the big-named FPS titles before it, but nothing about this game has made me feel like it will be a flash in the pan. Playing with friends is excellent even though it's limited to 6v6. I do sometimes wish there was a 7v7 or 8v8 mix on some maps as there are some bigger environments, but it rarely feels like the action is empty. I personally love the fact that Respawn Entertainment have made this game out to cut as much "lull" as possible so that you always feel like something is going on and you're a part of it. I also love that the developers are very open to the community and are voicing their intentions to add more to the game in the coming months. It seems EA (publisher) has been trigger-happy on releasing their games before they're finished, and while TitanFall is claimed to be an unfinished product by Respawn devs, it certainly plays well. If you're not overwhelmed with the graphics then be patient as there is said to be a patch to address the lower resolution @ launch. But in the end it's not how beautiful the game can be, but how fun it is. For me, I've been waiting to kick Call of Duty to the curb for being stale and gimmicky. TitanFall is the new kid on the block and it has made its presence known in a big way. If you own an Xbox One or are considering buying one, this is the game that will make you feel like the investment was worth it. Expand

I play a lot of game but enjoy FPS the most because they're immersive. I stopped playing Ghosts due to the spawns and hoped this game would be a good replacement. I was worried that the Titans would require a big learning curve or not be fun. I was also worried the increased movement would make the game less focused on gunplay. That's not the case. The titans are very fun and easy to operate! Also, the pilot's movement is great.

Pros: Although there isn't many guns, they all work well. No overpowered weapons or "noob" weapons so far. Maps are huge and easy to traverse. Graphics are amazing!

Cons: My only complaints are the bots are so weak. They should be more competitive, that'd add more challenge.

Aside from a few minor quibbles (I can jump across streets and hop over entire buildings, but a knee-high window ledge is insanely finicky to get past?) Titanfall is undoubtedly a great game which does an exceptional job of breathing new life into an increasingly-stale genre.

An intensely fun multiplayer game that is accessible and fun for everyone. Not perfect, but that's what sequels are for.

A spectacular and superbly crafted, if traditional, shooter. [May 2014, p.71]
