Titanfall, from what I hear, is a great game. The mechs look cool as hell, the let’s plays and the streams all look like a blast. A place I’d love to be and play. A game I could finally play with my friends on Xbox Live. And if my internet gave out, then maybe single player could carry it. It looks like a contender for GOTY. It looks downright fun. A place I’d love to be and play. A game I could finally play with my friends on Xbox Live. And if my internet gave out, then maybe single player could carry it. It looks like a contender for GOTY. It looks downright fun. And it might be, maybe, I will not know anytime soon. You see, TGAX is bunkered in rural east Texas where the only internet option is HughesNet. Satellite internet is notoriously bad for 2 reasons, download limits and ping times.

    Next Gen Size
The day one update for Titanfall is just shy of 850MB. Which honestly is a great number. It’s a drop in the bucket compared to the numbers Dead Rising 3 has been throwing out for their updates. But 850MB still hurts when your plan is the highest you can get and you’re capped to 20GB during the day and 20GB between 2:00am and 8:00am. Next Gen assumes everyone is on an always on, unlimited, minimum 5mbps down internet connection with below 100ms ping times, and the numbers just do not support this idea.

    Next Gen Speed
The best ping time I have ever tested is 768ms. The worst is 1,083ms. Imagine that for a second in a twitch shooter. Hell, imagine that in Minecraft. That amount of lag is simply incredible, and a spectacle to behold. You run the same five steps for minutes at a time. You kill but it doesn’t count. You get killed and have no idea why. Online gaming with satellite internet is completely unbearable if not impossible. I have no idea why but the only game I’ve tested online that wasn’t horrendous was GTA V. Thankfully, I tried the Titanfall beta before launch. You know that single-player tutorial? Even THAT was a laggy, crap experience.

    Always On
The reasons listed above are a few of the reasons the fan base flipped out when Microsoft stated their new system would require an internet connection at least every 24 hours. This is why Titanfall sucks. I can’t go buy the game and be content with a 10 hour campaign, all the while longing to play the multiplayer everyone is raving about. I, and everyone without a great connection, are excluded from playing the game altogether. It won’t even be sold in South Africa due to these kinds of issues. Titanfall can only be as great as the internet connection you have. Review scores are meaningless unless you have decent internet. I don’t care how many high scores it receives, we can’t recommend a game that not everyone can play in some shape or form.

    Final Tally
We give Titanfall a 1 – Do Not Buy, for its lack of playability for everyone who wants to give their hard earned money to Respawn.

Never was a single campaign implied, and it should be judged as such. As a multiplayer experience, it's truly unparalleled, at least in the FPS genre. It's flawlessly smooth to the point of fluidity. Whether you're running on the ground or piloting a titan, you can be equally as lethal, which gives it a nice edge. The game gives range to a huge array of tactics in comparison to CoD, but still keeps the fast-paced gameplay which results in frantic, epic, pragmatic gaming, which can occasionally also be hilarious. (Wait until you drop your Titan on someone's head.) As a negative the multiplayer campaign offers a nice twist, but it's not really a divergence from the classic multiplayer. The customization options are limited, and the guns are a little unbalanced, resulting in a huge number of people running around with the standard assault rifle, seeing that it is noticeably better than any other arm overall. But the game does deserve a 9. It is a blast. And that's all it ever promised to be. Expand

Titanfall is the best first person shooter that I've played in a long, long time. I personally got sick of COD and Battlefied 4, so Titanfall was a new and awesome experience. There's tons of different stages, weapons, and accessories to choose from, but the game's claim to fame is the Titans. I love piloting Titans, that never gets old. Anyway, I can't recommend it this game enough.

The burn card system introduces too much random overpoweredness into encounters, the focus on killing minions makes it feel like a single player game that just happens to have other people in it, not enough game modes... only a few maps, though I don't think that matters since all the maps play essentially the same anyway, I've played through the entire first "gen" of this game and wouldn't be able to tell you the name of any of the maps because it just doesn't matter.

Also, the performance is just terrible on the Xbox One. For a game that only looks marginally better than an Xbox 360 game you'd expect not to have to deal with constant frame-rate stuttering and massive screen tearing, but alas, those are your constant companions in this game.

It is kind of sad that this game isn't even the best multiplayer-focused FPS game published by EA for the Xbox One, that honor would go to Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare which is much more fun and interesting than this steaming turd.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Full of advantageous features that relatively quickly become a disadvantage to the Titanfall Title. This is one of the easiest games to pick up and play. You will be wall running through the maps wielding guns reminiscent of the halo series while blasting both the AI and human opponents. The ease of the gameplay in ways feels rewarding but there is no sense of accomplishment. Which many people are sure to say, why would I feel a sense of accomplishment from a video game. And for those people this does not apply. But. The majority of people that can achieve this feeling while playing a video game are sure to be let down. The weapons are well balanced. But even this can quickly add to the population of boringville. There just is not enough weapons nor weapon customizations. The graphics are pretty good for being such an early next gen console game. It is nice to be able to play a next gen fps without all of the technical problems the others are currently having. But at a certain point, it is not enough. The audio is ok but there is nothing special about it. In a way, this game feels like a throwback to counterstrike that somehow got bred with Halo. It is a fun game to play but very quickly you will have nothing to unlock and nothing to master. I suggest playing the demo/beta first. Understand that this demo/beta is the game up to level 14. And that if you are bored of the demo after a couple of hours, you are already bored with the full title. What about those burn cards? Playing matches awards in game enhancements that are called burn cards. These enhancements range from upgraded weapons to wearing suits that make you appear like an AI character (my favorite). Before a match you can equip three burn cards you have previously received. These three cards are the only cards you will be able to use during that round. You can have a maximum of 26 cards in your inventory at which point you will no longer receive cards that are awarded to you. For some reason it doesn't feel like 26 is enough cards but If you were to not receive any cards for the next nine games, you would be able to use 3 cards a game for 8 games and one game with only two. This would make any rational person realize that this IS enough cards. But i can not be led to feel this way. I instead feel that this one part of the game where excess could be easily rationalized is brought to nearly the same level as the weapon selection. Would it be easy to give us more cards to select from? Yes. Would it make most people happier to have more cards to choose from? Yes. Would you still only be able to bring 3 cards to every game? Yes. Would a larger card cap possibly prevent premature balding from pulling your hair out when you complete a hard challenge that rewards rare cards that you won't even get the option to see, let alone give you the option to replace cards from your current inventory. Yes. Would it give anyone a huge advantage? No. So I have a hard time seeing why this 26 card cap is in place. There is another part of this game that would make this review incomplete if not mentioned. That part or concoction of mechanical parts Hammond Robotics has fictionally put together... the Titans. There are three Titans to choose from. You have the light weight, easy to maneuver and lightly armored, the mid weight, not too sluggish, not too fast medium armor, and the heavy weight, sluggish, I hate to run in gym class with heavy armor. There are a limited selection of weapons for the titans also. Some even void of upgrade options. The mechs... oops... absolutely original Titans are well integrated into the game. You will be jumping in/on/over/under them in no time. As well as controlling them to take out your opponents. But to be clear, you do NOT have to control your Titan. You can put it in guard or follow mode and let the AI take control while you fend off attacking enemies. Overall this game is well put together and fun to play but it is not the game changer we were promised. Expand

Believe the hype. Titanfall is one of the most fun shooters around. After a month of the game I can say this game is AMAZING,the innovating mixture of wall-running and giant mechs fuse together as if made by the perfect game designer. There is not a single map that is lack-luster,all guns are balanced if skilled enough. The only problem I have is the limited story it gives you that I hope is addressed in the sequel.

Because Titanfall is only an online game, obviously that factor is very important to the overall presentation of the finished product and the quality it shows. So far, a little over a month in, I’ve been impressed by how it has held up and how well the server has done despite a few crashes and notable glitches in need of fixing. Respawn has thus far handily addressed most issues as of now and I can only imagine this will motivate other players to join the ongoing battle and cash in to buy the pretty good quality of game they’ve released. It’s been a massive risk to create such an online reliant product of a game, yet it has worked thus far and seems to be ready to for the foreseeable future. It’s good to finally see something equal parts unique and familiar on the market without an all too overbearing series name to put behind the tagline. Entertaining, quality, and new.

Concept: Titans and pilots alike battle it out over large scale maps that push equal parts vertical assault and expansive land battles, testing your wits and your ability to think fast and on your feet as you run through chaotic attacks.

Graphics: Especially for a multiplayer only title, the graphics look crisp and framerates run pretty well across all consoles (next gen and current). Sure, there are noticeable differences, yet they do not detract from the experience as a whole.

Sound: The voice work, where it is found, is professional and spot on in the moments. The ambiance is also excellently sounded out and soundtrack of accompanying noises of battle work fantastically as well.

Playability: The amount of control given to players is astounding and the fact that there are so many things to do and yet the controls still feel tight and not sloppily packed together is pretty amazing. Each button does a specific or even multiple tasks, and works well.

Entertainment: Definitely an entertaining experience on the whole, and a fun evolution of multiplayer combat- however slowly it may be reversing the directions we’ve had to constantly travel with well-known series.

    Replay Value: High.

    Overall Score: 8.75

I was put in matches with players 47 levels higher than me who must have had a ton of unlocks or something because I never stood a chance. Getting one shot by other players really isn't that great of a time. Every game that I played in was a total loss. There were players on the other team in attrition mode that had 100 points themselves. I really expected more out of this generation of FPS games. It struck me at first when I caught myself grinning with a kind of bloated satisfaction, that I really like this game.
Seeing XP pop up on the screen wasn't all that novel when it started showing up years ago, so "what's so different about this game?" I found myself wondering. Long story short, it's the different ways in which Titanfall rewards you for doing awesome things.
Killing other players, referred to in game as Pilots, is one thing, but dropping your metal friend from the skies and watching him crush an enemy Titan, is another breed of satisfaction. Pursuing a retreating Pilot over the walls of the city, double jumping from building to building as you slowly gain more and more speed, before delivering a deadly jump kick to the head...
It is these moments, completely unscripted and unconstrained that can (and will) take place anywhere at anytime that make Titanfall feel like a shooters equivalent to opening the windows on the first day of spring after a long, long winter. It is a complete and utter breath of fresh air.

The gameplay is fast, frantic and fun. It combines elements that really shouldn't work together in amazing ways. Core shooting mechanics from a well made twitch shooter, just without the insta-death. Jetpacks and parkour that makes traversing the map quick and seamless, and of course, mech-shooter mechanics with the incredible Titans.

Visually Titanfall is not the prettiest game on the block, but it can definitely hold it's own with a steady 60fps on the Xbox One and detailed textures throughout the almost 20 maps.

The game is purely multiplayer, and is divided into only 6 modes, ranging from your standard TDM and Domination, to Last Titan Standing, which as the name implies, makes you try and keep your Titan alive.
There is a "campaign" in the game, but it merely consists of 9 multiplayer matches that feature some voice overs and video recordings of people who are apparently important.
It was a bit of an oversight to include some kind of story while the match is taking place as it is essential to focus on what you are doing.
A few pages of back story explaining why the two factions are at war would have sufficed to say the least.

One of the things that came to my attention after but a few matches, was that Titanfall does a great job at making you feel like you contributing to the team and doing well, even if you end up in the middle of the leaderboards. It didn't take me long until I was bringing in a few MVP medals, but even if that hadn't been the case, it felt good just playing support for the team and hanging back in defense.

At the end of every match the losing faction will have a chance to escape from the map. A time of 30 seconds starts and a drop ship swoops down to pick up any remaining players. However, any surviving members of the winning faction can also make their way to the Evac zone, and take out the drop ship and/or as many players as they see running for their lives.
These moments were both fun and tense, as the respawns are deactivated.
Being on the winning faction and punching an attempted escapee out of the air in your Titan feels great, but being part of the losing faction and ejecting out of your Titan just in time to jump into the drop ship before jumping to lightspeed and seeing both the battlefield and planet disappear behind you feels amazing.

Titanfall is an utter triumph. It's addictive as hell, and it's the first game in a long time that has utterly sucked me in and has not yet let me go.
Is it the "CoD killer" or the "next big thing"? Only time will tell. But as long as Titanfall maintains a loyal fan base, as well as the already promised addition of new game modes and map packs, the game and potential series may have a bright future ahead of itself.

    A 9 out of 10.

After playing through both sides I still have no idea what is going on, and I could care less about either faction. This game is great! But there are some real solid reasons why it is not a 10 non of which have anything to do with game play. If I were an investor I would be drooling over the potential this has of being the next big "Call of Duty" type franchise. Yes I am aware of who helped develop this title, but don't let that fool you. I'm an optimist at my core but let's be real, there is no shortage of hype around this title so I will save what you already know until the end. The bad: For me, it's all been visual based. I find the levels cool but there are some recylcled visual elements from COD Black Ops 2 that I could quickly pick out which to me reduces the value of a game. DEVELOPERS when you recycle, just mod the item so I cannot recognize it or think I've seen it somewhere else. It's kind of like securing the body of a car to the frame with string or duct tape, it looks cheap and it pisses off gamers. Also, the levels themselves seem very similar, so much that I get them mixed up even after a solid 2 days of play time. More could have been done to make this a more visually stunning game. If the game weren't a ton of fun, unique, and so easy to adapt to I would have rated it less. But as a fairly big fan of COD since COD 4, dissapointed with the re-packaging and overpricing of COD ( a successful format that I believe has truly lead to the decline in the overall quality and risk taking in gaming ) this one truly fills the void. I love that you can crush, smash, stomp, and throw your enemies from a Titan, with gore! However I would have loved to see more reactive impacts (bullet holes, inflicted damage, realism), basically a greater visual realism for a fantasy game. Some may complain about the simplicity of the weapon loadouts and features but I argue in a new release this is a strength. It's not like it's another modern or recent past FPS game that is looking to compete with COD and needs to reinvent the wheel and format. We have a solid format with a fairly unique game. So I agree (if this is the strategy) with not making it too complex. There is so much to learn about the game, game play, and bad ass features that it is nice being able to jump in to an easily adaptable and simple control. Believe me, many games have mad controls over complex to add challenge. I find that format only adds frustration. It is a breath of fresh air not having to learn new controls and being able to adapt, excel, and enjoy this awesome FPS! I've hear references to this game becomming boring. I just completed my 2nd prestige and going. I enjoy it so much I have not even turned on my COD Ghosts to see the new maps and it's what 2 weeks later? Also only on my 2nd prestige with COD Ghosts, where as this time last year I had already 10th prestige...

Huge letdown, the game gets boring very quick. I got about 2 days worth of enjoyment out of it. Lot of hype, lot of disappointment. Little customization, no strategy, not much of a storyline... just chaos.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME BASED ON THE HYPE YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.

Between the high mobility offered and the mixture of Titan combat, this game is definitely a refreshing break from the usual first person shooters offered. The Titans that are available offer a simple trinity. The Ogre is the big slow one. It can take more damage but is pretty sluggish. The Stryder is the opposite, offering increased mobility at the expense of durability. The Atlas falls somewhere between the two, a jack of all trades. All three are balanced and I didn't find that one held the advantage over the other two. Infantry combat is a different matter. Maybe it was just me but I found that the standard R-101C was a little overpowered. It's almost too versatile. If you learn to control the miniscule amount of recoil it has it's basically a laser beam. I could beat snipers at long range with my higher rate of fire. Beat an SMG up close with my increased damage. After using all of the guns I found the Carbine is really the only one you need. Makes the gunplay pretty dull and predictable. All the maps are good and diverse, they all fall between Call of Duty and Battlefield sized. Good amount of game modes, but I was kind of disappointed when I found out the standard mode, Attrition, is just a matter of who kills the most bots. Then I went and played Pilot Hunter, which is your standard TDM and for some reason didn't have as much fun. Killing bots and players is kind of fun actually, almost reminds me of some kind of FPS MOBA game. The game also offers "burn cards". You earn them based on how well you do in a game. The better you do the more you get. Then you can take three into each match. They're basically a perk that only lasts for a life. So you pick one on the respawn screen, an amped R101C for example, which is just a better version of the gun and you get to keep it until you die.Card goes away, you can pick another on your next life, etc. I'm not too fond of this system and found myself just ignoring this feature entirely. I think it would have been better if I could just pick one that lasts all game despite deaths. The game offers your standard challenges, Get kills with this gun, win 30 games, etc. The game also offers 10 generations, "9 prestiges" basically. Hit level 50, go to Gen 2. Hit 50 again, go to Gen 3. On each Gen you get extra exp, which I appreciate. Gen 2 has 110% exp, Gen 3 has 120% exp, so on. I also like that Respawn integrated challenges with each Generation. So for example, on Gen 3, in order to go to Gen 4, I've got to complete the C.A.R. SMG challenges, complete the Plama Railgun (a Titan weapon) challenges, and complete a Satchel Charge (C4) challenge. Overall the game is refreshing, but there are certainly flaws. After the charm wears off, it doesn't feel like there's a whole lot of depth. I think there's a lot of potential in a game like this and hopefully Respawn will continue to develop the franchise and improve on this formula. Expand

On a 100-point scale this game gets an 87. Plot is a little weak, as is campaign mode (unlike Halo, which crafted an involved universe), so I gave it a 13-point reduction. I have purchased the season pass for an extra 20-spot so I am looking forward to some extensive DLC in the future. For right now, this definitely hits my sweet spot...although if you really want a "mech shooter" experience go with Hawken (it's better for that type of thing than Titanfall, and its currently F2P!). The only few gripes I have with this game is as many know there is no single player/co-op, when you are in the lobby if the majority of players there are several missions behind yourself, the game will replay a story mission you have already completed, which for me got extremely tedious because I had to replay "there be dragons" chapter 3 times over. And with only a few hours under my belt it has already become quite stagnant and repetitive. Being that there is no single player campaign, there is also no persuasion, storyline, lore, characters, or compelling element to make you play for longer. Not a bad game but not a great one either. Yes you can get your prestige, sorry I mean "generation" up as high as you like.. but the basic gear is all so well balanced that even a newbie on rank 1 can hand you a smack down. The titans too are great for this.. EVERYONE gets a go, no camping a spawn point to get a killstreak here.. just play the game and you get a massive toy to play with.

For me there is no comparison, Titanfall is the best multiplayer FPS I've played since the original counterstrike 1.6. Ok so the modes are a bit limited but that doesn't bother me at all as I find a lot of games have hardly anyone playing most modes, all it does is split the player base up further.

I do miss the world building provided by single player as its a great universe with a lot of potential, but given the terrible single player modes of all the recent COD / BFs I'm quite happy to go elsewhere for that.

I was disappointed that the recent patch reduced XP gain from actually following objectives.. this was a great plus for me as it gave players an incentive to actually try and defend a hardpoint or capture a flag rather than just kill stuff. I'm hopeful they will revert at least some of this change.

I know player numbers were also looked down on but I find that 6v6 is a really good balancing point. I'll agree the AI is a bit dozy at times but even that has its good points as the AI soldiers really make you feel part of a bigger battle.

Overall I'm happy to say that Titanfall is a great game, I'm actually looking forward to the DLC for a change but will wait on a season pass till I see the quality of the content (Dead Rising 3, I'm looking at you here!!)

They marketed it to make you want it, but it really gets stale after a while. I am going to sell mine back while I can still get top dollar for it. Battlefield 4 on the XB1 is huge, with destructive elements. Kind of hard to like walking in a giant robot when you can't even crush a car, or punch a hole in the wall to grab a pilot running from you. I was expecting this to be the game changer, instead it was another disappointment. Still, it is kind of fun for a while. Just not this awesome game that keeps you going back for more. There is no story to make you even feel like you understand what the battle is for. I still have no idea what it was all about. I remember finishing the "Campaign". They said that some guy died or something. I don't even know what roll he played in the whole thing. The pilot/titan thing gets old hat after a while. Not GOTY. It may be fun for a week or two, but is not a genre changing game. Expand

A game with great scenarios and nice playability. The multiplayer is innovative and the maps are well constructed. Maybe the biggest cons have been the inexistence of a single player campaign and the limitation to personalize your character. In resume, worth it.

I will agree the gameplay is great but that is the only redeeming feature of this game.

I love this game. I haven't had this much fun with a multiplayer shooter since Halo 3. It doesn't bother me that there isn't a real campaign mode, which explains my high rating. Although last night I was a bit frustrated with Titanfall when the servers were down and couldn't play. That's been my only gripe so far, though.

I kept hearing how original it is and how it changes the shooter genre, but I really don't see it. The fact that you can double jump or wall-run, I don't think it's really revolutionary. And the part with the Titans, if in other multiplayer games you have tanks and vehicles, here you have Titans, which essentially are the same thing, only they look cooler.

Bottom line, I enjoyed playing the game for a while, but that's it. I would've given it a much bigger score if it had a solid single player campaing along side this multiplayer, but sadly it's not the case.

I will definitely be more careful when going for EA games that are not FIFA from now on.

The parkour isn't overdone and everything you do is intuitive. While the limited selection of guns gets a bit tiring after playing for a while, the game would get overly complicated if there were a CoD-like selection. The different kits provide for some customization past the guns. Fighting a pilot as a pilot does sometimes get confusing if the battle is at close range, with both players parkouring around trying to jump kick each other, but it can be forgiven if you look at the epic totally free form sequences that result when rodeoing titans. Playing as a titan makes you feel powerful, as though you, as a 20 foot tall battle robot can completely turn the tide of battle. While titan battles on a lower level can often result in two mechs standing in front of each other while seeing who can off the most missiles in before they're shields are destroyed, experienced players fighting each other can really feel like combat on the huge scale the game simulates. With both titans dashing around to dodge attacks and playing catch with nukes combat is truly amazing. Even with the powerful titans at both teams' command, the only time titans will every seem overpowered is if you're the only pilot not in a one. Again, the customization is a bit slim, often making unlocking another loadout just feel like an excuse to have the option to play with the Hemlock, even though you hate it, or to equip that kit that seems useful but you really don't like to use it. Almost all aspects of combat, however, are totally free and and are a nice change from the worse traditional shooter formula. Probably my biggest problem with this game is the campaign. It offers the same great gameplay as the classic multiplayer, but every map and mission is strung together by a piecemeal and confusing storyline. The second to last mission feels like it should be the end of the playable story, but then you have to play another mission that almost feels like a tacked-on excuse to make the mission selector a 3 by 3 grid. Probably the only good thing about the story is that is provides an "introduction" to the familiar game modes in provides, namely TDM (Attrition) and Domination (Hardpoint Control). One of the most annoying things about the whole thing is that in order to unlock the Strider chassis for your titan, you have to beat the campaign twice. The classic gameplay is a break from all this, however, and it provides a few original game modes for you to try. While Respawn botched the campaign, the gameplay makes you put all that aside and play this thankfully original FPS. And if you want to write a review for this game, please make sure you play it first instead of judging it by its story and the fact that it "can't be original because if you want a game to be original, you have to invent a genre". And if you suddenly decide that the game will have microtransations that will ruin the whole thing, Respawn has pretty much pledged on their honor as a developer that the game will never include microtransactions. Oh, and make sure you actually play the game before you decide it deserves a 0. Expand

I could see if you almost exclusively play competitive FPS, then yes, this game is amazing, game-changing, blah blah blah. There are solid mechanics, a wonderful sense of verticality and speed and much more varied gameplay with the inclusion of your loadout options and the titans. However, nothing here is new if you've played other genres. It does gel a lot of these ideas into a cohesive, solid balance and for that, developers should receive a lot of credit. There's a lot, however, that stops this game from achieving greatness or "bringing us into the next generation" (an overused, undeserved phrase in this case). Let me take this moment to apologize for the overwhelming criticisms I include in this review. There really is a lot of fun to be had here, but that fun is fleeting in the face of the issues. Moving on... First, the graphics. Great, not next-gen. While this is the case for the majority of games on Xbox One and PS4 (but especially Xbox one), Titanfall does nothing to distinguish itself from the pack. Second, a baffling lack of options. I mean, this is 2014. What is omitted here is shocking when you consider the $60 price tag. No character customizations (changing your main weapon changes the look of your character), no ability to choose the map, very few gameplay modes with no customizations options; these are things that FPS vets have had available for years. Third, the complete lack of importance. You can fail a campaign mission and you just go to the next one anyway. By not being able to build a character in any way, there is no real sense of permanence or growth. There is not much that makes me really feel that I'm a player in this world and I can already see there's not much to keep me here a few months from now. It's just something to have fun in for a while. As a whole, the game has the distinct feeling of either being an unfinished product (put out to combat the lack of AAA games in the launch window) or that it was forced on the Xbox One to appeal to mass console gamers rather than beginning its life in the PC market. Recent interviews lead me to believe the latter; this was a game meant for a more specific audience and, ideally, a lower price point. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to love here. But this should not have gone out at $60. There are a couple complaints that are repeated throughout the internet. The lack of a campaign (either single or coop) and the lack of an offline single player. In general, neither of these complaints should be warranted. There are plenty of examples of non-campaign multiplayer (Gotham City Imposters) or online only games (any MMO). In truth, you can play this game endlessly single-player, Very few players actually chat and there's so much going on, it's easy to just solo it on the hectic battlefields. However, in the context of a hyped-up, $60 release for a major console, these issues should weigh heavily in any review or decision to purchase. The campaign is not effective. There are some feelings around that Respawn should be lauded for trying something new in this area, I say, no, because it just doesn't work. I don't know a single person who knows what's going on with the story unless they read it on the internet. That is a clear indication that, whatever their intentions were, they didn't succeed. It feels, again, shoehorned in to appeal to mass console gamers. On that note, there are plenty of examples where the storyline is presented in the midst of playing (Skyrim for one).
The bottom line: great game, you'll likely have fun playing it. But don't buy at full retail. Get the bundle, wait for the price drop, or wait until enough content has been added to justify the price (which may not actually happen). As it stand, I have to score this with the price and content presented.
On a related note: the ping for Hawaii is horrible. Yes, I know we should be used to it by now given that no company has fixed this issue. But I say nay! There are solutions to this problem (both in terms of programming and hardware) so that we can play on level playing field, but as it is, if you're in Hawaii and you want the most fair game, you're restricted. Play Hardpoint with and against other Hawaii players to have an enjoyable time. Otherwise, expect that you'll need to unload magazines into enemies to kill them and be prepared to die all the time. And yes, I know other areas of the world have the same issue. Which is all the more reason why the developers and EA should be more active in balancing out the situation.

The A.I grunts in the game are stupid and make nothing but cannon fodder for opposing teams to pick off and a lack of an actual story campaign is a bit of a disappointment which stops me scoring this amazing game a perfect 10 but overall this game is a must buy for any shooter fanatic. Man, the sheer amount of jealous Sony fan boy hate for this game is amazing.. This game is probably the best modern FPS game in existence. the blend between playing as a pilot and a titan is so sweet, a perfect combination of twitch shooting with intense mech showdowns is something that has never been done before.. The reviews that say "Titanfall offers nothing new" are an absolute joke. this whole game adds a very new and refreshing looks at the FPS genre... It is a no-brainer that this game is a must have for any Xbox One owner..

But the game is still tons of fun to play, especially with friends, and if youre looking for super fast paced AND FAIR (thanks to the beauty of the source engine) action, i would say you should definitely buy titanfall. Hopefully the second installment has more to offer, but its still an awesome game. Expand

Complete waste of Money, bastardized version of COD / Battlefield with a $60 tag on it. The campaign is the biggest joke I have seen from a AAA game. The people who review this should take User reviews into account. Hawken is similar and is Free 2 Play. What a rip-off. I feel the Humble bundle has better games than this garbage.

Cod with mechs, Luckily for me I am a CoD fan, so it wasn't bad, but it will not keep my attention, I got my share of twitch arcade shooters with ghosts this year, on to real next gen games like infamous.

I gave it a 10 just because its unfortunate everybody is being hateful towards it. Really its around an 8.5-9 give or take a point given your preference towards shooters. My problem is that there arent enough guns but other than that its great as far as shooters go. Fast paced, fun, not alot of camping, and some new techniques to master that arent available in other shooters. If you ever want to know what drives the gaming community nuts this game is a prime example. I'm going to keep it short and to the point. There is NO single player campaign! Yes, you read correctly. What you're paying the $60 price tag for is a multiplayer game. There is nothing new nor "innovative" about this game (as most sell-out critics would like for you to believe). Yes, you read correctly. What you're paying the $60 price tag for is a multiplayer game. There is nothing new nor "innovative" about this game (as most sell-out critics would like for you to believe). You want to play a fast paced shooter? How about the latest Call of Duty or Battlefield installment or any shooter these days? You want to play a mech game? How about Hawken? BTW Hawken is free-to-play and the graphics is virtually identical to this one. So basically what this game does is combine the most prominent parts from other games and calls it innovation. And you're paying $60 for it... for a multiplayer game.

This is why I never read the critics reviews, I only scan through them and from the looks of it the majority of them gave this game a 90 or higher LOL. Something fishy is going on. Can you believe this bullshiiiet! What I do read are the mixed and negative reviews from the critics and the reviews from the users. I never based my decision on buying games from critics reviews because they are mostly sell-outs giving a higher score to the company that can pay them the most. Because of this unprofessionlism by the so called "critics", I have fully replaced them with the User Reviews as my new source for professional criticism. After all, it's the majority consensus that matters. Therefore, if the critics gave a game a 9/10 or even a perfect 10 but the users gave it a **** score, I'm going to side with the user's base decisions.

Now if this game was only $40, it would definitely be worth it, but to me, a multiplayer only game, with a limited number of maps and features (no matter how well designed) is not worth the price one would pay for something like Infamous or even Halo. Titanfall does a lot of stuff right, but for me at least, the absence of a single-player campaign really gets boring. I am impressed with the ideas that Respawn tried to use with the story mechanics, working it into the multiplayer, but it failed to live up to what I was expecting, and maybe that's unfair, but I expected a better implemented idea, and maybe a sequel can do it better. Don't get me wrong, this game is great if you already have a PC, but I'm not going to pay $560 for an XBONE and Titanfall when I can pay 460 for a PS4 and Infamous. The XBONE has yet to have their system seller that they need, and personally, Infamous is a funner game, but that's just me. I say wait until the price to drop to about $40 or even $50, but it's not worth $60 for a game with only 15 maps, and only multiplayer, unless that's your thing. Then by all means go for it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great game, keeps you on your toes. Decent combat system. Just wish there was a long campaign for both offline and online play. Replay value sorta high if you are a 100% completion type of person. I would recommend this game as a solid rental and decide from there if you wish to buy it. Expand

Awesome game. I nice refresh to the FPS genre. The one thing I would really like to see in this game is more options for loadouts. While it does give a different weapon for each type (shotgun, rifle, sniper, single shot, burst shot) there still could be more weapons.

After playing this over hyped shiny turd, all I could think of was how disappoint it was. If you wanna play the least competitive in you're life then this is it. Titanfall is a rousing First Person Shooter game, so frantic and so fun that finishes an easy 8 of 10 score, the abscence of a big campaing and a good number of constumization possibilites leaves something missed in the air, but this minimal details is far of giving a low score to Titanfall, in one of the fastest and epic FPS I ever played, congratulations for the new Respawn Entretainment!

Here's a game that prioritizes fun. Whether you're leaping off of walls gunning down enemies or sparring in a Titan, Titanfall has entertainment value at every corner.

It's short on content, and completely lacks co-op or campaign. But ultimately, it succeeds where it counts most.

This game is perfect. That's it; - It is the perfect game. Giant mechs, perfectly balanced weapons with perfectly designed multi-layered maps, dual scale warfare, David and Goliath style fighting, verticality, parkour (including but not limited to: wallrunning, wall-hanging, double jet-pack jumping and rodeo), then perfectly married Titan vs. Titan, Titan vs. Pilot, and Pilot vs. PilotThis game is perfect. The most impressive aspect is the way in which as a pilot, you feel as if you stand a pretty good chance against a titan if you are smart and use your speed and abilities to your advantage, whilst as a titan you feel all-powerful and as if you are in the better situation;- and you are, so long as you are tactical in your titan.

If you've got this far, i recommend watching Adam Sessler's (a very well-known and trusted gamer) review on Rev3Games on youtube. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWbvXB85BZc), it is a very comprehensive review and you should enjoy it.

first off i'd like to say im without any of this console political Bias, i played it on PC and i couldn't care less about those fanboy wars that seem to influence opinion; either being one extreme or the other.

ill start with gameplay, because that's the games core and it sure does excel at it. its unlike anything other in the FPS genre. it isn't striving for BF and is by no means a CoD

ill start with gameplay, because that's the games core and it sure does excel at it. its unlike anything other in the FPS genre. it isn't striving for BF and is by no means a CoD clone. its a new category all together. The 2 pillars of innovation that make this game fun is mobility and of course the Titans. you can park-our, wall run double jet jump climb on titans move and with speed. this completely changes the "arena style" gameplay. its an unbelievably fast paced twitch shooter, you'll get the feel of breathlessness when you die, but never reluctant to jump (or fall) straight back in. Titans are integrated perfectly there not OP by any means and the means of unlocking them ensures you'll always get at least one a game. they feel well and are as vulnerable to the pilots as they are deadly. you get the feel of a towering beast while all the time staying on your toes. the core gamplay is utterly fantastic.

however that's where TF's pro's end pretty much (which obviously isn't bad though). visuals even on my hefty PC feel lacking. and graphically it feels like COD; something i despise. while not massively important it is a bit of a bummer.

the lack of depth is also disappointing there are about 10 pilot guns and a few less titan guns. where were all the interesting future weapons ? all the automatic guns have very few differences. there isnt a whole ton of ability's and perks either. persistence is almost none existent. apart from the maps (which were all good) if you played the Beta you experienced nearly everything there is. combined with the fact that you'll do everything there is gameplay wise within about 2 matches; getting bored of this is something i'm very concerned about.

Story: or whatever they called that. i realize that this game was built around its new multiplayer but a proper campaign for this had as much potential as Halo. the political struggle, the universe as a hole and some interesting charterers that went flushed out enough for me to give a **** when one of them died. if they adopted the Halo mission style with of course the Titans and the mobility it could have been so good.

overall TF feels like a game which has an ultra strong skeleton (its gameplay) but with with little flesh. which is a stark comparison to the vast bunch of games which layer graphics and other stuff on top of piss poor mechanics and end up as foam rather than the rock that titanfall is. i hope TF2 can include all of my wants though. many people and reviewers simply gloss over the many negatives in this game because of its great core gameplay. the game simply lacks depth. but it is still the most refreshing, innovative, fast paced game ive played in a while, and is a ton of fun.

it just isn't the second coming as many have said while clambering aboard the bandwagon.

Aside from a few minor quibbles (I can jump across streets and hop over entire buildings, but a knee-high window ledge is insanely finicky to get past?) Titanfall is undoubtedly a great game which does an exceptional job of breathing new life into an increasingly-stale genre.
