    Star Wars Battlefront was an attempt to capture the magic of the film series and to an extent… it succeeds.

    I will say categorically that no Star Wars game looks better than this one, there was tremendous effort put into making it look and sound absolutely incredible. Every twig on Endor, every sun reflection off of Vaders helmet, every stone in Tatooine… all of it looks almost    Star Wars Battlefront was an attempt to capture the magic of the film series and to an extent… it succeeds.

    I will say categorically that no Star Wars game looks better than this one, there was tremendous effort put into making it look and sound absolutely incredible. Every twig on Endor, every sun reflection off of Vaders helmet, every stone in Tatooine… all of it looks almost photo-realistic.

    But the reason it scores so low is honestly… and I hate to say this because I wanted to like it so much more than I do… it’s boring.

    After a few hours of gameplay you’ll find there’s not much to keep your attention, the linear designs of the maps make combat extremely controlled and while it may not be entirely fair to compare it to Battlefield… the fact remains that I cannot put plastic explosives on a tree log, blow them up and have the tree log destroy a helicopter holding 6 people in it… The point being beyond killing members of the other side with a blaster… there’s no crazy possibilities open such as in battlefield.

    Now that isn’t to say there’s no fun to be had here at all… I did have a lot of fun to begin with, however I would say if this game could hold your attention for more than 10 hours of gameplay you may want to get checked for brain damage.

    Combat quickly descends into a monotonous process combined with such an unbelievable lack of content, the four planets at launch will become old real fast and the $69.99 CAD ask for the season pass is absolutely outrageous.

    To its credit though the multiplayer does work incredibly well, I don’t recall having any framerate issues, lag or connectivity issues in matchmaking, however the actual multiplayer game modes were very uninspiring, walker assault and supremacy are the only modes that are really worth any attention and fighter squadron is worth a look for a short time, if only for the ability to fly an X wing or tie fighter around for the five minutes it’s fun.

    As a quick side note the multiplayer custom avatars were equally uninspiring with very little choice.

    In the end, like a parent with a kid who’s done something bad… I’m not mad. I’m just disappointed, this could have been so much better than it was, I’m not entirely sure what would fix it. But we know we have a problem and that’s the first step in getting better.    … Expand

    A painfully mediocre game with a shiny coat of paint. Barely any content at launch with a $50 season pass, repetitive and bland gameplay, no single player modes, and unbalanced multiplayer to top it all off.

The game is only multiplayer so anyone looking for a single player experience will be disappointed. It focuses on rebels trying to bring down walkers and the empire defending them. Player customization is a nice way to keep the game fresh, you can choose your blaster and 3 "Star Cards" that can give you things like a jet pack or sniper rifle but then extremely cheap things like a homing missile that can become frustrating. I do wish they added more Star Cards, some feel totally useless and don't add much to the game. Customization for your character is extremely overpriced,Minimule and only unlocked once you have experienced most of the game. It's awesome hearing your blaster going Pew Pew but I do wish they explained upon them more, after awhile you just use the same gun. Battlefront also has a co-op game-mode where you and 1 friend can work through waves of enimes in the most original idea for a game since Candy Crush.
    Battlefront is extremely fun in small bursts and captures the Star Wars universe very well but I feel like there was lots of wasted potential here. It could have been so much more of a game and if you compare this to the Canceled Battlefront 3 or even 2 (for the PS2)it feels like a lot is missing. Unless you want to buy all the DLC with the game 165$ later....    … Expand

    Pros: Nice graphics and lots of action.
    Cons: very few content, it is like a demo. Probably after all DLCs come out it will be a decent content-wise game, but price-wise the game will end up costing more than 100 USD.

ADS gives no bonus, lame power weapon/vehicle icon pickups, no gun customization, and very few maps(only 4 maps for the main 2 game modes, and of those only 2 are interesting).     Wow. After seeing the trailers for this one I was excited to play it. I waited for the price to come down and finally bought it. The visuals are amazing. If you walk over a hill where the "sun" is behind you, your shadow will be cast across the floor. Good audio as well. That being said, the game play stinks, especially when you are a "soldier." The interface is clunky, there are very limited options to reconfigure the controls and in general the game play would be more specific to a game made in the late 90s. Really surprised by that. Flying is okay but the "maps" for flying encounters are pretty small so you end up flying out of bounds frequently when pursuing a target and then have to double back. Not a lot of content in the game and it gets repetitive quickly. I have had the game for 4 days and am pretty much finished with it. Major disappointment.… Expand

    The leveling up system is shallow and only seems to reward time spent playing as opposed to actual skill. And many of the unlockable weapons or items are next to useless, such as the jet pack that allows you to travel all of about 10ft before running out.

    As to the battles, you will find yourself subject to constant cheap deaths, such as being one hit killed by one of the way overpowered hero characters, blown up by almost unavoidable homing missles or unluckily spawning 5ft from a group of enemies.

    It is hard to believe that the 10 year old Battlefront 2 has vastly superior gameplay to this mess.    … Expand

    Run to find people for 10 seconds. Die in half a second to people who have much better equipment than you.. no balance in who you are matched with. NO way a casual gamer could enjoy this.

    Finally decided to purchase Battlefront in July after offline single player was announced. Very happy that I can play Walker Assault offline against bots. This game also has great graphics and sound design. The biggest problem, even post free game updates is the lack of maps and content.     Fun game, easy to pick up and jump into a match. Easily the best looking Star Wars game ever, as well as one of the best looking games ever. I'm taking 2 points off for lack of single player content and lack of multiplayer content in general. I've put in about 120 hours so far and still having fun with my friends.

    One can argue that in today's gaming culture, the graphics of a particular game may not matter much. That gamers really care about content and reliability. Well, one thing we won't have to worry about in Star Wars Battlefront is the looks. From the first battle, I was astounded at how well this game really does in the art department.     From the first battle, I was astounded at how well this game really does in the art department. Every battle field is gorgeous, with scenery that really tugs the eyes and says "look over here!" That being said, the rest of the game isn't so great. Where to start:

    1) The balance of this game is ridiculous. On some maps ( Jundaland ) the Rebels get a clear head start in conquering the first control point. When most of your side can reach it in 2 seconds, it's pretty lopsided. On others, the vehicles of the Empire will always turn the tide of a battle. Calling in multiple Tie Fighters and AT-ST, the Rebels soon find themselves overwhelmed.

    2) Weapon balance is incredibly outrageous. When I can be killed in two shots by a pistol wielding storm trooper from 200 yards away, we know we have a problem. The stats for the weapons (range, damage, cooling power, etc. ) are pretty much useless. I don't know how many times I have been sniped by a pistol, but apparently pistols are basically long range blasters in this game, so yay.

    3) I like the addition of the card system, giving you different hands and so, but it would make much more sense to have one primary weapon and a much less powerful and close range side arm. Instead, if you want a side arm, you have to buy the scout pistol card and take up on of your 3 cards spots. And..

    4) Those card spots are oh so important. Many of them remove the skill needed to shoot someone. A "homing shot?" Like, really? Not much skill in a homing missile that you can use every 10-15 seconds. Also, not that I am a Star Wars expert, but I'm pretty sure that most troops weren't shooting around the battle field in jump packs. Makes the Supremacy mode very annoying.

    5) The other game modes fail to inspire any real fun, and had me always going back to Supremacy and Walker Assault. The various power ups you can pick up help to give each battle a small difference in feel, but after being sliced by Vader, or sniped by Han Solo for the 1000th time, it becomes monotonousness. Almost an inevitability that I will die, again and again, which leads me to....

    6) WHY THE EVERY LIVING F**K WOULD YOU SPAWN ME THERE! Almost every match I am spawned in an incredibly stupid location. Just killed three rebels before you died and feeling good? Well here, how about you spawn in front of 8 rebels, see how you like that! I mean, I have spawned literally in front of the entire enemy army, in front of a blasting AT-ST, and oh RIGHT ON TOP OF A PROXIMITY MINE. My god, how stupid can these developers be?

    I have put 25 hours into this game, which isn't a lot, but I feel it's enough to render a verdict on this game. I want to love it, I really want to love it, but I find myself struggling to even like it. Hopefully, the balancing issues come up and are fixed and in the future this game will get the credit it deserves.

    While there ary things that need to be improved and added, I enjoyed it. The gameplay is fabulous, the sound feels like star wars. The graphics are outstanding, with environment, character, and everything else looking like star wars. The game modes are fun, but some feel familiar with each other. I wish there was a campaign like the other two in the series.

The blaster you receive for purchasing the most expensive version of the game is a two shot kill. This is more powerful than any other weapon in the game, even the lightsabers. This would be effective except for the fact that at some point inside of 0.5 seconds of overheating you can quickly press X to instantly cool your weapon and begin firing again. Do not expect to ever be able to beat someone using this weapon unless you have several squad mates with you. The flight simulator has a similar problem. At some point during the match players can gain control of either the Millennium Falcon or Boba Fett's ship. These ships are near invincible. You can literally be blasting them for several minutes non-stop and they just will not die. Also they seem to be able to shoot missiles at you, even if you are directly behind them. Their dominance in game will determine what team wins the match regardless of other player's performance.… Expand

    This is a tough game to review... It's so technically good that it hurts to score it so low. But I have to agree with the general consensus that SWBF is flawed, to say the least.

    Let's start with the positive. The game looks AMAZING for one. The atmosphere feels right, just like star wars. The general feel of the game and the authenticity is spot on. It's almost worth it to buy it just    This is a tough game to review... It's so technically good that it hurts to score it so low. But I have to agree with the general consensus that SWBF is flawed, to say the least.

    Let's start with the positive. The game looks AMAZING for one. The atmosphere feels right, just like star wars. The general feel of the game and the authenticity is spot on. It's almost worth it to buy it just to experience, by far, the most realistic virtual Star Wars world ever created - at least in terms of the atmosphere and graphics. The sound is also pretty spot on I have to say. And I have to give credit for how OPTIMIZED the game feels! Not only does the game look AMAZING, but it runs without a hitch! I am running it at completely maxed settings including AA at a resolution of 2560x1440 and it runs 99.9% of the time at a locked 60fps on my Radeon R9 390 - which is only a $300 single card solution. That is impressive.

    The bad. There is no single player campaign.... Okay, so yeah it is Battlefront, it's msotly about the multiplayer. But Star Wars is a universe we all crave to dive into. Instead what we have here is what feels like a mix between Call of Duty and Battlefield in the Star Wars Universe. It;s unbalanced like crazy for one. I started playing after a lot of people already had a bunch of unlocks. I do perfectly fine when I am not getting one shot by bowcasters or whatever other weapons seem to deal WAY more damage than the first few blasters you unlock. I think 90% of the time I died was from the 1 or 2 enemy players who happens to have all the unlocks. It's pretty unfair when everyone on the map is flying around via a jet pack and you have a pistol and a grenade because you have to spend a dozen hours playing to unlock anything else useful. Even so, I managed a 1.06 K/D ratio after about 6 hours of gameplay despite being at an obvious disadvantage. That said, the gamepaly is just shallow after only that small amount of time. I feel like I'm playing an arcade game with bigger, beautiful maps. It's like a Vegas VR experience or something that's only meant for a short period of fun and to experience a realistic Star Wars atmosphere with battles going on above and walkers around you. There's just no depth to this game. If you start late, you'll get crushed by OP weapons. If you start early you'll get bored of the mechanics... And then there's the unlock system itself and cards and floating power ups on the battlefield. Ugh.

    If Dice could team up with Bethesda, Square, or Bioware maybe? Maybe then they could develop a technically brilliant game, just like this one, but with a deep, interesting campaign and story and more interesting, balanced game mechanics. That's what this game should have been. A campaign that pulled us in and some innovative tie-in to multiplayer battles. Hell, even Titanfall was better than this and kept my interest longer. It's such a shame that possibly the best looking, best running game I can play on my PC is jsut boring and unbalanced after half a standard video game campaign worth of gameplay...    … Expand

For example trailers shows that we can pilot the AT-AT but that's stupid. I can but how?!?!?!?!     I was really looking forward to playing this game when it was first announced, and I had high hopes for this game. But when I finally got to play it I was disappointed on what I saw.

    The game has limited game modes, and it suffers from a lack of replay value. But on a positive side the game does have gorgeous graphics and sound effects, as well as a great soundtrack and voice acting.     Basically this is a game to completely avoid if you are a die hard Star Wars fan. If you are more of a casual shooter fan then there is some fun to be had here but be aware that it wears out it's welcome very fast. Not worth anywhere near the $60 price tag. This is a $30 game at best and EA is out of its mind to charge $50 for the Season pass.

    My final thought is how much I wanted this to be the game that gives me an alternative to the washed up run of the mill COD series and gives me a new shooter to enjoy for months and months to come.     Great graphics with maps that look amazing. However having no single player mode really hurts this game. The multiplayer is decent - good but nothing to get excited over. Wears out it's welcome sooner rather than later. Die hard Star Wars fans will enjoy it but nothing here to bring in anyone new and definely nothing to keep them here for the ones that do.

    The game play, it feels like someone told them "Don't stray too far away from the original games" and they went ahead and just used the same engine. The game practically BEGS you to play in the 3rd person by making the field of vision for 3rd person style much better than 1st person. This is very disappointing due to how good the game looks and feels in the 1st person. It is such a disadvantage to play in the first person it just doesn't feel worth it.

    The flying vehicles like the x-wings and tie fighters could not be more clunky and hard to fly. Good luck flying around without crashing kamikazee style let alone getting any kills. There may be three to five of the flying vehicle tokens on the ground at one time because no one wants to use them.

    The hero tokens maybe the coolest part of the game but none the less are still very clunky themselves. One would think being a light saber wielding Jedi would be more fun than it is but running around eating blaster bullets because your attacks are so awkward is not fun at all.

    The credit system is okay but the credits feel next to worthless due to how boring the customization options are. There are only a few guns and none of them match the Han Solo pistol in power and accuracy anyway. They give you a million different options of how you want to make your player look yet somehow they all look the same. Would you like your Asian female storm trooper to have black or brown hair?

    Overall I found the game to be a huge disappointment. It had so much potential but ultimately failed to live up to almost every expectation beside visuals.    … Expand

Unfortunately for a DICE game, it is lacking in depth. There is none of the strategy or customization that is normally included in an online shooter. It's as if DICE wanted to make a shooter for Star Wars fans who don't necessarily play them.

    For the record, "Battlefront" does include 14 maps, 10 multiplayer modes, 5 tutorial missions and two single player skirmishes (which can also be played with a partner). However, it's a mixed bag of good and mediocre modes. "Supremacy" and "Walker Assault" are lengthy 40-player matches that are the game's best. They play out similar to "Conquest" and "Rush" from "Battlefield". "Blast" is team deathmatch, "Drop Zone" is pretty much "Domination" from "Call of Duty", while "Battles" plays out like "Kill Confirmed" also from COD. "Hero vs. Villains" and "Hero Hunt" both feature famous SW characters; the former is a deathmatch, while the latter places one hero against five Imperial soldiers. "Droid Run" is basically "King of the Hill" and "Cargo" is a take on "Capture the Flag". Lastly, "Survival" is a horde mode with 15 rounds of Imperial attacks. Unfortunately, I've never played "Flight Squadron" since the flying vehicles are difficult to maneuver.

    Ultimately, "Star Wars: Battlefront" is a fun, if "minimal" online shooter. Fans should enjoy unlocking all of the iconic weapons, skins and artwork. Since its launch, DICE has updated the game with some free content which should keep it from getting too stale for those who don't own the Season Pass. And while the game lacks the content and tactical strategy of DICE's superior "Battlefield" titles, it can still provide some solid thrills. I'd rank it with a 7.2 out of 10    … Expand

    Even though battlefront has no campaign, the game still has amazing multiplayer that manages to be really fun. The graphics are absolutely stunning to look at, and the sound design would be perfect is it wasn't for the bad voice acting. The gameplay is just right for this game, and the maps are pretty good. Overall, I still have a fun time playing this game.

    - Getting Character Customization takes a too long time if you think about the fact that you have every Star Cards at the level 20 (level 39 toke me 66 hours to reach). Everything else is being unlocked like every 5-10 levels (the highest unlockable thing is level 100)
    - There arent that many weapons to collect and most of the Star Cards (Powerups like a jet pack that you get in your loadout and can use for an example every 10seconds) are never picked because mostly you just have your healing grenade and your jetpack equiped. Without you will have a much harder time
    - The weapons are all so boring and it feels like the bigger the gun the worse it is. The most overpowered weapons are mostly boring to play.
    - The flightsystem is totaly unbalanced like on the one side they have a infinitive shield that you cant destroy normaly and you need to hope that the rocket that you can shoot every 10 seconds lands if not you are propably dead by another ship on the enemy team. And as I said the shield is only on one side. This completly ruined the whole flight system.

    I expect from the upcomming Battlefront much and please dont disappoint me EA.

    Had I bought this on release and paid the full price (and later the season pass) I'd be really angry for what was in the box.
    This is the latest in a long line of games being used as cash cows by game companies to milk as much money from customers as they can.
    Do not buy this game. Borrow it or rent it.

    I enjoy it a lot, but it has problems. The graphics are amazing, they look almost real! The gameplay was unique, space battles are good, but playing land battles as heroes and villains was amazing! Also, online works great. Now on to the bad parts, no story, slow loading times, and a lot of DLC. Those are big problems, but the game is fun overall.

    Bought this two years after launch for $30, still don't feel like it was worth it. The DLC exclusive maps have very little population and DLC exclusive weapons are by far and away completely overpowered compared to base game weapons. Its almost like people who paid more were given every advantage possible.

    Battlefront is one of my favorite video games. Although I was kind of mad at EA for making the dlc maps unavailable to people who can't afford Xbox gold every month of the year, this game had stunning graphics, sound effects ,heroes and more. Although I was mad that there was no single player campaign in battlefront at least EA is doing a single player campaign for battlefront 2.

    The game looked and played like a Star Wars movie except for the key part of well a reason for everything happening. FIrst person shooters are a dime a dozen and the best seem to find a way to be better ... this just had Star Wars trappings , a very very shiny set of them. But in the end it was not enough for me to want to spend hours in a galaxy far far away.

Я рад, что SWB от DICE не имеет цифры III и огорчён, что в этом названии не присутсвует словосочетание starter pack. Но даже после всех вышедших допов, чаша весов склоняется к слову ПОМОТИВЩИНА, а не к слову игра. SWB - фановая пострелушка и не больше!

    It feels more like a playable teaser for a game than a full game. There simply isn't enough content to justify it's $60 price tag. From the lack of a singleplayer to a very limited multiplayer mode, the game feels extremely bare bones. It's a shame because it looks, sounds, and feels amazing! It's all squandered by a lack of anything to do with these amazing elements.

Online is practically dead, despite working servers and good graphics. It seems to me that this game is one big scam that sold the same game twice, only one had content, and this one was cut out.

    Overall, it was fun to play, but there is no plot, just a couple of weak rambling missions. And so is multiplayer. This game should for good go in a bundle with the second part, and not be sold separately. Recommended only with an EA subscription. Glory to Ukraine!    … Expand

    I don't get it! why are people complaining so much about this game? it's awesome! i've had it for 3 years and still love it! the only thing it needs is a campaign mode. that is the only thing keeping it from reaching true mastery!

    O jogo mais incompleto e raso que já joguei. Não tem campanha ou modo história. É bonito mas até um jogo mobile é mais completo. Perda de tempo e dinheiro total.

    Was very disappointed about this game one solo map no campaign at all I am very angry this had only online only battles and nothing else I was expecting a story mode but no I got a crappy dumb online battles against other players boo the only thing that is awesome is the movie scenes and the look of the vehicles and the world also the sound FX is perfect just like I remember

    This game got a lot of hate but I found it tons of fun. Of course, it is missing some things like a campaign and continual updates, but otherwise the multiplayer plays really nicely. My favorite game mode is Cargo, and I must have played a hundred hours of it. I just love the atmosphere, gunplay, and abilities in this game. Much better than its sequel IMO.

    Great game, they really poured their souls into this one. Only could use more aliens, maps, heroes, conquest mode, etc, the type of game you wish still had live-service updates

    The issue is that this game plays it safe and doesn't offer anything new in its core shooting gameplay. It ignores progress made in the genre and that's most upsetting. Casual players will have a blast but it really isn't for the rest of us in my opinion.

    Multiplayer shooter designed primarily for Star Wars fans. Simpler than its genre competitors it is, but it’s open to players of all kinds - at the same time it is not for everyone because of that “anyone can play” approach. [Issue #259]
