The gameplay is extremely repetitive and has zero depth. After playing for a couple hours I had experienced everything. Not only that, but I was tired of experiencing the same things over and over again. The lack of a fantastic online experience mixed with no campaign or story mode to mix things up makes this game one of the shallowest that I have ever purchased. The skill level required to accomplish anything is set for 8 year olds. The tutorials are a joke, because nothing new is in this game that has not been in a thousand games before.

To go with the crappy game play is a host of bugs. Most notably is the constant server interruptions. During 3/5 games it will start to lag. EA was nice enough to include a warning that states that their own game is unplayable because their servers are messing up. Why not work on improving your servers instead of creating a message to describe why your game sucks?

While I appreciate the 3 maps per game mode I feel like instead of mining for more money out of people you could have just released a quality game with more content/maps. Dice and EA at it again. The game looks, and feels wonderful. That said, there next to nothing that goes along with the $60 price tag.

I was not going to buy this game because to me it almost looked like Titanfall, which I very quickly got bored of. But I bought it only because my friends were getting it so I figured it actually might be fun since I will have buddies to play with.

So far I have around 10 hour experience with it so you can trust my judgement or not. So, to begin with, I'll admit that the game is cool, but thats about it. It has great graphics, fun gameplay, and very little content. I always love to play story modes... not in this game. There are very few maps, very few weapons, very few heroes/villains (only 6). So i pretty much just started playing the game but I'm already starting to get bored of it. While i thought this game cant be worse than Titanfall, I'd like to say that it actually is. Titanfall in my taste had too little content but Battlefront is just way too minimal. It's a cool experience, like I said before, but not worth the money for sure. I'd rather recommend you going to these gamecenters where u play all day for some $$$, choose x1 and have fun with Battlefront for one day, and after that you can put a nice green check next to that title

The gameplay doesn't feel even remotely like star wars. If they wanted to create a futuristic shooter with lasers, they didn't need the starwars IP to do it.

I was bored most of the time playing it. enemies take so many shots to kill. They should take one shot.

The ship combat is boring and controls like **** Like somebody slapped wings on the brave little toaster.

And once I saw that EA would be publishing and marketing this game I dry-heaved, I honestly do think that this game's emptiness of content is because of EA, they're trying to push this game out the door so quickly to coincide with episode VII, But it's lacking SO MUCH.

    Let's run it down a pro/con list

    - cons

    No galactic conquest

Lack of a decent class system

    Female storm troopers (excuse me?)

An eerie sparseness of class content (like in titanfall)

    Not many maps

flying controls are...jesus...they're horrible, this one bothers me especially because most people are used to the physics and controls in Battlefield, because of the Frostbite engine, but in this game they've retooled the mechanics for flying to make it more user friendly, WHICH IS IRONIC because 99.99999% of the f***ing players are already used to the other controls, and if Battlefront is your first FPS then you should probably get the f*ck of the servers. DICE was like "oh hey you guys like the controls? alright here you g- AHAHHAHA just kidding f*ck you! here's a broken non-userfriendly control scheme, use this s*it, not our problem because we're bathing in money right now"

Season pass = 39.99!?! excuse me? EA you covetous f*ck get over here!

Oh and not to mention 5 DLCs, mhmm that's good. didn't realize I was playing COD

    Lack of vehicle combat.

No space battles? that was the entire reason I bought battlefront 2 in 2005. Oh excuse me, I didn't mean to impune the all knowing omnipotence of EA, you smelly little f**ker

Imbalance on ATAT assault, the Rebels will lose 70% of the time, it's like Invasion from Halo Reach, where if you were the Spartans you would lose constantly

No campaign, I really do give a s*it
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Now for the pros

    Customize armor

    game looks great

    wilhelm scream

    and that's f**king it.

cash grab from EA, and milking of Star Wars franchise by EA and Disney. Casual shooter with no substance at all, not worth the goddamn 120$ price for the complete content. selling maps for 50 dollars is ridiculous when the original game itself is boring with no campaign at all.

    Nice, polished graphics, nothing else; Level of complexity is of an poorly made iPad game; Maps are dead and boring; Game play is very poor; Vehicles are uncontrollable; Characters move like turtles; This lasted for maybe 30 minutes for me, before I claimed refund from Origin; Net code is horrible (compensated by equally horrible weapons);

I mean as a 5$ GC demo it may work, but 70$ for that?

This leaves little to play with (when the game is working) and I couldn't help but feel bored by the whole experience. I must draw comparisons to Battlefronts big competition (Call of Duty & even Battlefield). Both of these games provide an abundance of content (even without paid DLC / season passes) and have a large amount of depth that is required to keep gamers invested. This is clearly a game that was released too early with the hopes of cashing in on the movie. Gamers are left with a bad taste in their mouth and the desire to replay the old Battlefront 2 game instead. Expand

This game is a perfect example of 'Graphics don't make a game' since in 4k this game looks phenomenal but there's nothing new or unique. There's barely any guns and I believe 6 maps in general, 4 for walker assault and 2 extra for the small maps.

    What went wrong?!
Anyone could say time constraints but unless EA forced Dice to make this game as it is there is no excuse, no space battles or Conquest was the biggest mistake ever as survival is as **** and repetitive as you'd expect. Had the game had 6 maps or a couple less BUT had the amazing large battles that had both space and land in the same fights as the PSP game did this would be a huge success but no. Why? No seriously why couldn't they do any of it? There is no excuse.

And the New DLC that adds 16?!?!?!?!?! maps to the game is a disgrace, time constraints? Yeah because they don't already have any of those maps waiting to be released. New Modes as well with the DLC, it seems EA or Dice thought everyone would agree with the Battlefield model except what they forgot is BATTLEFIELD HAS MORE CONTENT.

Also to add to the Time Constraints argument, there was already a better battlefront game that had full transition to space that was cancelled and then this garbage was made. They could have used that game instead.

To sum it up, Battlefront is NOT Battlefront 3 and never will be, it's a completely different game and even with its Unbelievable graphics Battlefront 2 is still the better choice or if can get it the PSP battlefront game. Hopefully in a few years Battlefront 2 will come out and it will surpass this game by so much we will forget this was even a game, or hell if out of the blue the cancelled game gets active again and comes out.

I've played the game about 30 Minutes while countless hours on the beta, what does this mean? The game has nothing unique about it, the walker assault mode is its USP and they flushed it away through the beta.

ALSO If EA are being the mischievous **** we all know them to be I imagine one of those 2 modes could be space battles which means locking it away behind DLC so more money for them, hell they could have full transitional battles there as well. I don't imagine there's much else they could add so it wouldn't surprise me.

P.S I don't own this game, i'm an EA access member so I used my trial and didn't pick up my pre-order because of this. I'll wait for the game to be added to the vault which probably won't be long since EA did the same with Hardline when people didn't like that.

The biggest flaw about this game isn't that it's nothing like Battlefront 1 or 2, nor is it the overpriced DLC. It isn't even the fact that there's no single player campaign. No...the biggest flaw is FAR worse.

There are only 4, count 'em, FOUR multiplayer maps on the disc. There are about eight or so variations on these maps, but they are just DIFFERENT PARTS of the 4 larger maps. $60

"We've captured the point. ALL TOO EASY!" Han Solo recites lines we've heard in a dozen other games, but only heard once in the movies. The game wasn't written to fit in within the SW movies, it was assembled verbatim from them. Worse, it was assembled from the Star Wars movies we've seen a hundred times. Conveniently rushed to shelves in time to see a new one hit theaters in a few weeks, but we don't see any of that one here.

The problem is that if you were to strip away the Star Wars theme from these battles and reskin it with pretty much anything else, the game is not good. Sure, it feels like the originals, but they're a decade old. There's no excuse for this game to be the least bit shallow in terms of content, but there it is. You're running around looking for glowing tokens like Crash Bandicoot looking for fruit.

It comes down to people who are happy with what we were handed here, and the people who see what this could have been. It could have expanded on things like Jedi Knight or KOTOR, could have had gameplay options and freedom like the Arkham games did for Batman (tell me using the grapple hoist line Luke used to grenade the AT-AT, but free to use anywhere creatively wouldn't have been amazing) but instead we got the standard EA movie tie-in treatment.

I actually liked the beta. I specifically liked it because I thought it gave a glimpse into the actual game. In retrospect, it seems that it actually showed you what the entire package was.

+ Graphics and sound: Beautiful, very immersive

+ Power ups: These drop at random locations and add strategic value to the game. They can be anything from cannons, turrets and droids to orbital strikes, rocket launchers and squad shields. I actually liked it. You also have to find these power ups to become a hero/villain or to get into an AT-AT, AT-ST, A-wing, X-wing, etc. You get the picture.

+ Scope: Playing on Hoth, while an air battle is being waged above you, explosions everywhere, 39 other players on the map with you. Simply awesome feeling for a Star Wars fan.

+ Star cards: Considering all that I didn't like about the simplicity of this game (see below), I liked the cards system, where you could pick 3 abilities/equipments, e.g. shield, grenades, sniper rifle, jump pack, etc., and craft your own deck.

    - Lack of content: Only 4 maps. That's 4. 4 maps. Still can't believe it. More maps coming though, if you have the cash atop the 60 bucks you already payed. 16 additional maps planned as DLC? I get that developers and publishers need to make money, but when you ship the game with 4 maps and plan to add 16 more (+300%), how is that a legitimate DLC policy? How can you claim that this is supposed to be a standalone game? Also, only 11 weapons, the handling of which was so similar that it seemed there were even less than 11.

    - Game modes: Only a few. Don't look at the numbers, all of them were basically slight variations of Walker Assault and Blast. Simply adding Luke, Lea and Solo to Blast suddenly makes it a new mode? I don't think so. I expected more diversity from a multiplayer-only game.

    - Aircraft control: I don't like it at all. You maneuver with the cursor and use WASD to adjust your speed. It seems so counter-intuitive to me. Could you imagine steering your car with your cursor in racing games?

    - Single player: Practically non-existent. In my opinion, there is zero replay value to it.

    - Simplicity: There is not a lot of depth to this shooter. Again, it's multiplayer-only, so I think some depth can be legitimately expected.

You may notice that I wrote in past tense. That's because I returned it after 4 hrs of playing it. They are addressing some of these issues with future, payed DLC? This game is already too expensive (60 bucks) for what it's delivering, but the DLC policy is the icing on the cake. Drop it by 50% and I may consider buying it. To me, this seems like they prioritized looks over substance and hijacked the experience by charging it +100% what it's actually worth gameplay- and content-wise.

Their is far too many meaningless unlockables in an attempt to give people arbitrary reasons to keep playing. I haven't boughten a game from EA in at least 5 years and this game affirmed I should avoid EA games.

They have blatantly released half a game, this Battlefront should have shipped with a Full Campaign mode with a story that ties in to the New Movie. It's a blatant rip-off that it doesn't include it. Not to mention the fact that his Star Wars is completely based on the original trilogy, there is nothing in the entire game from the New Film which makes no sense because it's launch is coinciding (within less than one month) with the new film.

This is typical Lazy, Anti-Consumer EA at work. I love Star Wars and its fun to enjoy the Nostalgia for a moment, but they have so grossly left out the campaign, a story that ties in to the movie, and failed to include any characters, visuals or environments from the new film that it's hard to even give this game a 4/10.

Graphically: This is one of the best FPS I have ever seen and from the standpoint of the Art Design, it truly looks amazing. It feels like you are in the Original Trilogy, amazing art in this game. I give the graphics and visuals a 10/10.

Gameplay: This is basically Battlefield with a Star Wars skin. This really feels like a $20 DLC pack their pawning off as a $60 game and then trying to get you to pay $50 for DLC on top of that. Not to mention the DLC is so sleazy, they've clearly bareboned this game and plan on charging the absolute maximum for content that needed to be included in the regular launch version.

In my opinion all FPS nowadays need to have a Campaign/Story mode. A Multiplayer mode with excellent Matchmaking. And a Horde mode where you can relax and fight PvE style.
Also I think it should include; Custom Games, Theatre for watching your gameplay and quality Stat Tracking. This game Basically gives you 1/2 of a PVP mode with terrible Matchmaking playlists. It follows the COD style where you simply pick a gametype, so 90% of players are in either Team Deathmatch or One objective gametype and the entire rest of the playlists have 0 population.

TL;DR, Summary, Verdict: This is typical EA, they sell you half a multiplayer, basically a Star Wars themed DLC for Battlefield and pawn it off as a Full game. This game left a really bad taste in my mouth and re-affirmed that I should avoid EA games. Not impressed. Also their is 0-relation to the New Star War movie coming out in 2 weeks. Everything in the game is based on the Original Trilogy there is nothing related to the New Movie shockingly.

The gameplay is just average a bit too simple and the power ups thing its good and makes sense for heroes or starfighters, but I find it annoying for land vehicles (the very few there are) and unnecessary.
To see why I rented it but didnt biy it is simple I asked myself a question is this a solid game on its own without dlc, yes or no? making dlc an optional choice if you have the cash. Answer it is not. The DLC will not be Add-ons they will be a sort of game-life-support thing to keep people playing it, and such a game its not worth 110 f****g euros.

    There has been no game I have looked more forward to seeing on the new generation of consoles than a Battlefront sequel. I really enjoyed BF2, and so perhaps my expectations were too high. It feels like the first Call of Duty game for the previous-gen consoles, but less fun. After about 1.5 hours playing I don't want to play any more. Actually, I didn't want to play anymore after about 20 minutes, but I just thought it might be a slow starter. It is, it just didn't get any better. Ugh.     My problems with this game;

-The SW universe is a big one, EA/DICE managed to ignore 99% of it and only include a fraction of the OT locations (Hoth, Tatooine etc).

-No classes. I don't know what it is about EA/DICE, it could be sheer laziness or perhaps a pursuit of making everyone even on the battlefield that they neglect classes making for very dull game play. One of the great things of SWBF I&II is that each class had its own pros/cons meaning you had to work together as a TEAM in order to succeed. Now they have been replaced with cards which are abysmal.

No AI - really was the biggest failure of this game. EA's ego is that great they decided to remove bots and turn battlefront into another run of the mill competitive shooter. Bot support was the CORNERSTONE which made the original titles great. If you didn't play online, you could just create a game with bots and have a blast.

Audio - The sounds of the blasters and vehicles may be good but there's one thing I can’t stand. And that’s the 'Murica' dialogue EA infuses into every shooter it makes. They really do like to glorify war and SWBF is no different. You can't go 2 seconds without hearing someone shouting 'IM PINNED DOWN OVER HERE!' or 'MAN DOWN!'/'SUPPRESSING FIRE!’ It’s all just too serious and doesn't fit in with the star wars universe.

Vehicles - You can no longer just hope into a vehicle, they are power ups. Mind boggling how this ever made it past the drawing board.

Heroes - Not as many heroes as its predecessors.

No prequel content - Even if you hated the prequels you can't argue they gave us more vehicles/soldiers/planets to play with. EA cutting them from this game (probably to release as DLC) was woefully wrong to do so.

I could go on past the 5000 character max with everything that is wrong with this game. But I'm sure you've all been saturated with the pretty visuals / expensive DLC etc people have been noting about. At the end of the day, Battlefront I & II which came out over a decade ago are still more enjoyable than this piece of crap. I've said it before and ill say it again, EA obtaining the IP to SWBF was THE worst thing that could have happened to this series. No more than ever I really do feel for the free radical staff that had their product cancelled during development. It would have been far superior to this.

Star Wars Battlefront really is a masterpiece of graphical art and which certainly delivers an authentic Star Wars experience. Playing as Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader is certainly great fun,.. for about 2 games. After which, the "hero" gimmick runs stale. It is a great hype that does work well but offers nothing special in terms of replay value. Once you kill 3 or 4 generic players / AI then the opposing hero, you've experience all there is to offer by this system. It appears that it's Boba Fett and Han Solo that get the hero limlight due to long range combat and effectively, drawing out players "camping" instincts.

The highlight of this game for me is the Fighter Squadron game type. Taking to the skies in an A-wing fighter or a Tai-fighter is the most appealing part and every experience is different. To be honest, the only reason I like this is because it reminds me of past game just as Star Fox. Same combat system really.

Other game types are simply a very poor play on other game type from shooters of the past decade. Droid Run is simply a domination style game mode where the rules are not exactly clear other than "3 droids, capture them". Cargo is an extremely poor play on the classic capture the flag and Drop Zone is an even worse play on king of the hill.

Story mode simply does not exist and single player / co-op might as well not exist. The missions, which are usually highlighted as single player story, is a team deathmatch / kill confirmed game type against the AI, or against a friend if you can stay awake long enough. AI battles range in difficulty and realistically, you can have no affect to the enemy score so the hardest difficulty isn't worth the effort unless you aim for achievements. They offer no fun or gameplay value at all. The only really single players are the tutorial modes which give set tasks to learn about the games mechanics. But a total of 5 solo (or co-op) missions at 3 - 6 minutes is not enough.

Story wise, the game is based off of 3 movies and the fact they couldn't make a story (or even more objective based missions) is just lazy development. Missions like an all out space war where the objective is to take down the Death Star, rescuing Princess Leia from inside the Death Star or an assault on star destroyers would have added quite a lot of value to this game.
Admittedly, they have done some things well such as the AT-AT assault on the rebel hideout on Hoth which accurately portrays the scene from Episode 5. But this is multiplayer only which kills it for me. Sticking on this area, why is there an AT-AT assault on Endor, Sullust and Tatooine? Endor only had AT-ST assault, Tatooine only had a stormtrooper invasion and Sullust wasn't even in the original trilogy other than a few verbal mentions. Again, lazy devlopment.

Survival isn't really worth a mention. A basic horde type gamemode that only supports 2 player co-op. Nothing Special.

Overall, this could've been an amazing game. an already solid fan base of all media but has been turned into a lazy "get rich quick" scheme by EA. It seems they have taken the "Titanfall" approach with this game. No single player story that people will get bored of after a week. The DLC packs must offer something special or this game will be dead very soon.

So playing the game on the Xbox One it isn't going to have the same look as a high-end PC that runs the game on Ultra however it was breath taking. The Snow on Hoth to the Luscious forest of Endor to the bright Lava on Sullust it is truly remarkable and looks amazing for a console game. The worlds are highly detailed.
The shooting in this game has an arcady style to it and that isn't a bad thing. The game has a real Star Wars feel that fans of the franchise will love. With hero that you can play as if you pick up there tokens. However I think there should be more than 6 hero's, they should of had some prequel maps with have the likes of Padmé, Anakin, Obi Won, Darth Maul, Count Dooku and General Grievous. On the topic of adding in why the hell is there only 4 maps? The reason they have done this is to expand it in as DLC. I hate that and it is early EA's decision not DICEs. That is outrageous because in countries like Australia we have to pay $100 for a new game which I would not recommend buying this game to it at least drops price to around $50-60. It had so much potential but EA tried to milk the brand of it's name.

As far as shooters go, this is nothing special or innovative. DICE even left out a few essential that feel necessary in modern shooters, namely vaulting over low walls/climbing up on ledges, and for some reason you come to a complete halt when trying to melee. That being said, its freaking star wars! I've logged ~12 hours on the game and i still get giddy fighting on a battlefield with AT-ATs rampantly firing everywhere as TIE Fighters and X-Wings dog fight in the sky. While most of the game types are pretty standard for typical shooters, being able to play them while in the Star Wars universe is still awesome. The maps are gorgeous, and while some of the larger game types like Walker Assault and Supremacy are limited to only 4 maps at the moment, the Jakku DLC will add more content in the coming weeks, as well as future free and paid DLC. While it kinda sucks that right now, Battlefront IS a little light, i think that over time, it will become one of the most content heavy games out there. Expand

Look up "Star Wars Battlefront II". In fact, buy it. Don't waste your time or money on this game. "The old ones have bad graphics!" yeah? well look at what they DO have.
    Battlefront I and II:
    -Galactic conquest
-60 player battles (yes it has a multiplayer called "game ranger")
-Clone wars and Galactic civil war
-Fun space battles that allowed you to infiltrate enemy ships
    -Campaign mode
    -Countless planets
    -Well developed class system
    -No DLC nonsense
-Already finished at launch with a $5 price tag
-Strategic combat that involves using your class to your advantage
    -Not-great graphics
    Battlefront 2015:
    -No galactic conquest
    -40 player battles
    -Only Galactic civil war
-Pointless ship battles that entirely involve you flying in circles until you drop dead
-No campaign or form of story
    -5 planets
-No class system or form of strategy
-DLC that came into the originals for free
-Nowhere close to finished and still with a $60 price tag
-Pointless combat that entirely involves getting a bigger group of players than your enemies
    -Good graphics
And I could go on even more! Also, it's not like they didn't have a long time to work on it. THEY HAD 8 YEARS TO WORK ON IT ONLY TO PRODUCE THIS DISGUSTING GARBAGE THEY CALL A "GAME"!
It's obviously just some cheap, overpriced merchandise to get people excited about the new movie. I will say one thing though, this is the first FPS game Disney has ever made, and they did put some serious work into the graphics. But that is no excuse for them destroying a good series. They had something functional on the table, but instead of working on it, they mutilated and rebooted it into some mess that had potential, but it was too close to the originals so they shot it till it broke and tried remaking it in their spare time without the instructions. But all that came out was a polished vase that had nothing of use on the inside. They then decided to put in some worthless "free content" while the paying content stood ready to ripoff. All in all, don't wast your time or money on this trash, especially if you loved the originals. My hope, which most likely won't come true, is that somebody will make the originals again but with a reasonable price and good graphics so that once again they may shine the light of the good ol' days again.

Your $60 investment only gets you only a small portion of what they put into this title. EA expects you to pay an additional $50 for the rest of it. And since it is multiplayer only, you are asked to pay $110 for what is only half a game to begin with. "Multiplayer only" is just EA's "always-on DRM" by another name.

It's games like this that make me worry about the direction of Star Wars. Disney is planning a movie every year, but with the rejection of the EU the Star Wars universe is empty and they seem to be going for a flashy cash grab. So that's $110 for the full game, even though the little content you get when you buy the game is nowhere near $60 to begin with. The game is just a shameless DLC cash grab that no one will be playing in a few months when the Star Wars hype dies down. Expand

Garbage. For real. And now they're trying to pay people to say they like this game. People please, Show EA that giving half of a game and then trying to make you pay $110 for the full game is a crap strategy. For the sake of Star Wars and wallets everywhere, please.

Plus vehicles are random and thus team strategy. Even with friends is null and void from this. There is little to no option for loadout customization and the default blaster is pretty much the best weapon I thought. But all that aside. With such small and so few maps. I was bored of the game after about a total of 13 hours. For a multiplayer only game. This was not good. Now I have to say that if you drop the $120.00 and get the DLC later down the road that maybe this game will provide enough content to stay fun and diverse for a bit longer. But that's too much money for one game. In my personal opinion. I honestly believe the servers will be dead in 4 months or so.

    Pros:
    > Excellent graphics.
    > Unique sound design.

    Cons:
    > Extremely repetitive game modes.
    > Imbalanced gameplay based on game mode.
    > Item drops/Vehicle switching/Special characters are completely random.
    > Lagging servers.
    > No Galactic Conquest.
    > No loadouts.
    > Horrible flying controls.
    > No space battles.
    > No prequel era.
    > Unnecessary token system for appealing to the casual masses.
    > Deluxe Edition.
    > AT-AT on rails.
    > No campaign.
    > No destructible environments.
    > Maximum PVP count is only 40.
    > Lack of player choice, preventing cohesive team strategies.
    > Meager launch content.
    > Will feel generic and boring after a few weeks.
    > Doesn't feel like a true Star Wars: Battlefront game.
    > Most likely will have dozens of planned overpriced DLC.
    > Published by EA.

Conclusion: This game will succeed only because of the "Star Wars" title behind it.

I played the beta and enjoyed a few hours of it. Unfortunately, the full game was very sparse feeling. With only 11 guns and 4 maps for the large 20v20 games, it's pretty disappointing. The combat is just so-so, but the real issue lies in the lack of content. There just isn't enough, at least for me.

First of all: I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan myself, but I just had to create an account to share my disappointment.

I REALLY tried to like this game, sadly it does not live up the hype in ANY way. After the announcement at E3 that DICE is going to develop the Reboot of SWBF I was really hyped. They obviously know how to develop a good shoter, although you have to admit that they really screwed the launch and of BF4. Forgive and forget, I guess.

Now, imagine a Star Wars that is made by DICE and runs on the visually stunning Frostbite 3 Engine. Should be a safe bet for an awesome game right? No!

I don't even know where to start.

Let's start with the good thing(s). From a technical standpoint this game is stunning. This game does look INCREDIBLE, it sounds gorgeous, it's authentic, it runs absolutely smooth, it has a good netcode and it imagines Star Wars like never before. DICE really know how to use their engine. They absolutely nailed it this time.

And to be honest, this is the best part of the game. Graphics, sound and authenticity.

Now the the (long) list of bad and/or disappointing things:

    Let's start with a list:

Why is there no SERVER BROWSER? It's ******* 2015!!!
Why are there no 64 Players?
Why is there a useless first-person-view?
Why is there no Clone Wars Era?
Why is there such a lack of single-player content?
Why are there no squads and classes?
Why are there no space battles?
Why are there only 4 planets?
Why is there only 1 map for each game mode?
Why are there only 6 heroes?
Why are there only 11 guns?
Who came up with the idea of star cards?

Why does this game LACK this much CONTENT? I really do not get it.
Why does the season pass offer more content than the LAUNCH GAME?
Why does this game cost 60€? It's not worth it in any way.

    _______________________________________

    To explan everything:

I really don't understand why this game lacks content. I seriously don't mind that there is no single-player at all. The campaigns of BF3 and BF4 lacked depth (which the MP of SWBF also does, unfortunately) and they also seemed to be poorly made. DICE really does not know how to deliver a good offline experience. But im fine by this, because of the rock solid and content packed multi-player.

Survival in SWBF is a poorly made mode though, that mostly will entertain you for an hour max. That's not cool.

I also don't mind that there is no clone wars era although the predecessor obviously has it. The original trilogy offers enough content in my opinion. The problem is that I don't see any of this. Where are the other planets like Bespin, Dagobah, Aldeeran, a Death Star map. You even have planets that were not in the film that are still canon like Corellia, Kothlis, Kessel and others that also differ from the existing planets.

Where are unique characters/heroes like Bossk, IG-88, the Imperial Guards of the Emperor, CHEWBACCA(!!!), Calrissian, Admiral Ackbar, General Veers?! The list goes on.

Why are there only 11 guns? I know the movies did not have more, but would it be a problem to imagine new guns? SWBF2 did it as well.

Where are unique Ships like the B-Wing, the Vader's TIE-X1 Advanced and of course the missing space battles? I have a feeling that this will be added in the upcoming DLC's although they could have added it into the base game. Now they will charge you another 50€ for content that actually should be in this game from the beginning.

    _______________________________________
Gameplay: To be honest, the gameplay is fun - for a limited time mainly because it lacks depth, content and replay value. You have 11 guns that either play the same or just suck, you only have 1 map for the big and IMO good game modes which are Walker Assaut and Supremacy. Power Ups are a good way to let everyone play as a hero for example, but it really disturbs the immersion, authenticity and tactical possibilties. It just adds some kind of random factor to the game. Same goes for star cards, the absence of squads and kits, no fixed spawn locations, no enterable vehicles and so on. Basically everything that makes Battlefield cool. You can't really focus on a preferred style of individual gameplay. You need to be lucky to get the right power up at the right time. The other modes are cool in the beginning, but get shallow soon imo as they are nothing more than some kind of TDM variation. Fighter Squadron is also a dissapointment mostly because of the flight controls that are too easy and weird. _______________________________________ To conclude: To be honest, I really hoped that this game would turn out like a Battlefield with Stars Wars skins. Sadly it is neither like Battlefield nor like the original SWBF games that were basically like Battlefield games. Never change a running system, I guess. It turned out to be a generic full-price arcade shooter (that some people are okay with of course) with star wars skins that lacks content that you have to buy for another 50€ season pass. Wasted potential...

At first, I was dazzled by the smooth presentation of a Star Wars game with potential for big battles and epic moments. The graphics look good despite being 720p, thanks to good use of anti-aliasing to sharpen edges enough to fool you into thinking there is a more natural, higher-definition image before you. I applaud DICE and EA over this aspect, but it's probably the best part of this game outside of the Star Wars branding. I'm a fan of the Star Wars universe, but games haven't usually been good to play. The problems with Battlefront really stem from capitalizing on my imagination of an epic Star Wars battle. I step into a battle and am wowed, I run around and shoot stuff. But what else is there? Technically, not much. There are a handful of gametypes to choose from to vary your experience, but this is a dry shooter by today's standards as, after about 6-10 hours (depending on the person) the experience dries out and feels like there's nothing else to experience. The game is just good enough that some people will be okay with that, and good for them - if you can enjoy this game for 25+ hours, more power to ya. But for me, I expected this to be a lot of Battlefield with more fantasy implementations, because Battlefield is tried & true and Star Wars is huge and epic - the two should go together very well, and yet this is a half-baked package. The experience as infantry is perhaps the best part of the game, because stepping into vehicles feels very awkward and tough to control. The AT-AT is by far the best of the vehicles as you only control shooting. Jump into the AT-ST and it gets a little tougher to control. Even more-so are flight vehicles - they're so hard to control and nearly-impossible to master that I'm insane for jumping into one. I've managed to drop a couple rival fighters in the air, but mostly get crushed the moment I enter a battlefield because of target-locking missiles that others get that you may not (major point of imbalance!). But really controlling these vehicles is so bad and I'm beyond confused over this because I can control vehicles in Battlefield quite well (jets, helicopters - whatever they have I'm capable of using). By comparison, these are the worst controls of vehicles I've ever used (by comparison, don't overreact to that comment). There isn't a bona-fide single player, but you can play offline which is basically just the multiplayer stuff with AI units. I wouldn't mind this as I LOVED Titanfall, which had zero single player opportunities, but it feels pointless in Battlefront. Heroes are also a point of great fun. Jumping in as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Baba Fett, etc. is fun because you basically melt multiple players in a single life without too much regard for your own health. It's randomized through icon pickups on the battlefield so it's not a killstreak or something else that you earn. You just gotta look for the hero icon to take part in this. And there you have it: Battlefield is fun to start off. Some people the mirage of an amazing game will be there for quite a while, but once you settle into the game and realize that the weapon unlocks and player card unlocks are all acquired (it doesn't take very long), there's nothing left to earn. You just play and, while that might be fun for a while, it leaves you having to love what is there. If you don't, you're going to regret buying this game. EA confirms a season pass for DLC which includes 16 maps (though they'll be divided among the gametypes, so that's not 16 maps you play through sitting on one gametype) for $50 - almost as much as the game. If there's any hope of Star Wars Battlefront getting better, it's going to be through the DLC. If you are on Xbox One, pay $5 for EA Access and play this game for 10 hours before you buy it. Worst case: you don't like it. Best case: you love it and you get 10% off the game when you're an EA Access member. Expand

Gameplay is fast-paced and fun, with large and small scale battles feeling exciting and well-balanced. Technically, the game runs very smoothly, with none of the bugs or crashes that have plagued large game releases over the past few years.

For people looking for more than an easy Star Wars fix, you will want to rent this before buying. The gameplay is very fun, but not particularly deep. Customization is present, but not necessarily complex, and the small number of maps can be repetitive during long play sessions. My advice would be to play this game casually, rather than treat it in a hardcore manner like Fallout 4.

For those that are cowed by the low user score, there is a general feeling of anger among many in the gaming community that this game is not simply a reskin of the old school Battlefront games, combined with general resentment towards Electronic Arts, the publisher of this game. All of this petty whining has led to people who are reviewing this game negatively for personal reasons, rather than rating the game objectively.

The gameplay is fast paced and **** fun as hell and it is a mix of Battlefield, Battlefront 2 and Call of duty (Some may consider that a bad thing. But **** you). Playing as the heroes is fun but you can easily fun a pick up and you die rather easily, this makes it so you don't feel as powerful as you really should feel when playing as a sith lord. The fighter squadron mode for me is really **** fun. Dogfights are intense and make me feel like i'm actually in the movies when i'm piloting an x-wing. There are some game modes that I love. Droid run is very tactical and team based but to win the mode you have to have the msot droids at the end of the match so if your team had all of the droids for the whole match and then the other team swoop in at the last second you feel very cheated. Walker Assault is great but is slightly one sided. Supremacy is fun. And heroes vs villains is also great. Customization needs to be improved but it is still a nice feature. The star card system is great and the weapons even though there is a sufficient amount they all seem to feel the same when using them. Survival is good but i'm not a huge fun of modes like that so I didn't enjoy it that much. That being said if you like horde modes you will love this. Playing this game made me feel like a kid again as I flew through the sky in an x-wing and took to the battlefield as Luke Skywalker and it brang back some memories I had when playing Battlefront 2 when I was a kid 8 years ago.

But then there is the issues with the game. There is no campaign for starters which is a real bummer. This means that there is no new original interesting story and there is nothing to fall back on after playing the riveting multiplayer for a long time. There is also no space battles or galactic conquest, which kind of sucks seems as they were great in Battlefront 2. And then there is EA, slapping their massive **** dick all over the players faces until they ejaculate a season pass on to the players while begging them for money. I may have gone a bit far with that but you get my point. The **** season pass. Which most likely has all the missing content in. And they are going to make everyone pay for it because **** you we're corporate dick faces who hate the consumer but love their money. But who knows the DLC could actually have loads of content in. But it most likely won't. Also after about a month and leading up to the new movie Star Wars Battlefront will probably get tiresome and will disappear from my mind until five months later when I remember it actually exists and start playing all over again and falling in love with it all over again.

Overall the game is fun, addictive, immersive and for a while is **** great. But in theory it is a disappointment. Even though the gameplay is great it lacks content. No campaign or innovative modes. At the moment it is one of the most fun shooters I have played in a while and the added Star Wars theme makes it even better. But at full price it can **** off. Because most of the game will be added through DLC. 7.5/10

Hugely disappointing. Feels like a freemium game thrown together by a third-grade glass. I don't mean like an advanced third-grade class. I'm talking the kind that eats boogers and laughs at farts. The game is lame BRUH.

If you come into Battlefront with the competitive mindset, you're going to be let down. Instead, come into the game knowing it's a very casual game, meant to jump in and just have fun.

There are some unlocks, like extra weapons, figurines and cards. Cards can be equipped and be used as secondary weapons and can be used as many times as you like, within the cool-down time limit. The gunplay is very easy to get the hang of, thanks to the no recoil style gameplay. Some of the problems that plague this game, from my experience really hurt the overall fun factor for me. Multiple times as you're spawning in, you'll get spawned near a group of enemies or vehicles. You'll constantly also receive "Critical Kill Assists Counts As 100", a lot. The flight controls are very wonky, to say the least. Going from piloting jets in Battlefield to flying in Battlefront, felt horrendous and not the least bit fun.

In closing, Battlefront has some great fun behind it, but the fun gets old, as the gameplay becomes stale, thanks to hardly any depth to it and the low map count, the base game includes. An actual price point this game should be, would be about $40. I don't see enough content to warrant an actual normal $60 price tag.

The graphics and Multiplayer are very good but if EA werent so stingy and also listened to their fans they would have made a game that everybody loved

The decision whether you should play this game or not ultimately comes down to a small selection of questions:

Do you prefer your shooters to be light on complexity, but still be fun to play in small doses? Are you a huge Star Wars fan? Is a highly intensive graphical experience important to you? Are you someone who is busy and can't invest a lot of time when playing a game?

Are you a huge Star Wars fan?

Is a highly intensive graphical experience important to you?

Are you someone who is busy and can't invest a lot of time when playing a game?

Are you someone who is only concerned with multiplayer competitive games?

If you answered yes to all of these questions, then you should buy Battlefront. If you answered yes to some of the questions, but not all, give it a rent. You'll find out pretty quickly whether this game is a title you want to invest an actual purchase towards.

I'm really liking this game so far, while others have used its simplicity as a negative against it, I love the arcade-y, simplistic feel. I just jump in a game, have fun no matter the outcome, and not feel like I have to invest over a hour for a singe match.

The biggest detraction for the game is it feels like a seminal title, that you should wait for next year when they can really expand upon their initial offering. There's a base here for a really great game, it just falls short of great and is pretty good. So if you're a Star Wars fan looking for a great Star Wars experience, and doesn't mind playing a pretty good but not great game, then give it a shot.

I think it's an absolutely fantastic game. A little more casual than other shooters so it fits into it's own niche nicely. It's great for my younger son and I to play together and it's uncomplicated nature makes it easy fun for someone who isn't a hardcore shooter fan.

Oh there are some very big flaws with the game, but these flaws do not prevent it from being incredibly fun in short bursts of time. Grenade spawn is a massive issue and there are some imbalanced weapons, making it very newbie unfriendly... But all in all, its pretty fun.

I look for three things when playing a game: Production, Gameplay and Lifespan. Too many reviewers are looking at a poor lifespan and equating this with a very low score. This is completely unfair as Battlefront is a good game.

The production of the game is absolutely amazing, the graphics are fantastic as is the sound. The servers also seem to be holding up. A top top quality game on the production front.

The gameplay took a little getting used. It felt a little slower than COD or Battlefield, and I feel it takes longer to dispatch your enemy with the early weapons. It is also noticible how different the kill to death ratio is to other shooters. I havent noticed it being any greater than 2:1 at the top, although I know its early days. That said the bottom of the table still consists of those on a 1:5-10. So this game is more equitable and accessible, but dont get me wrong it is still a challenge. All in, the gameplay isnt bad, its just slightly different. As for the maps, the ones we have are pretty good although I still need some time with them. The game modes are really good and varied, no issues on that from me. I come to battlefront for big battles and supremacy and walker assault deliver this well. the other modes wont be my go to modes but having tried all out for a couple of games each they will certainly be a good distraction.

Now on to the thorny issue of lifespan. it is a relative question. Having come off 200 hours on Witcher should I expect the same from a FPS for the same price? I dont think anyone would but it does make you think about what is reasonable for my £40. I suppose the fairest way to look at this is to compare to other FPS. you undoubtedly get more with the other franchises, but I honestly dont think you get a massive amount more. Had the battle of Jakku been included in the off this would bring the maps to 14.... that isnt too bad! There is no single player campaign, which I would really have loved and the game is poorer for its ommission.

That said having read the user reviews on this site I had a real crisis. I love Star Wars but I hate being ripped off. After a lot of thought I just went for it, and when I got it home I loaded it up not expecting much. You can control Vader whilst the game installed and this did nothing to allay my fears the controls felt clunky and it went on far too long. But, when I actually got in I started with the solo tasks to try and get used to the pace of the game. I was pleasantly surprised (having expected the worst) with the solo elements, nothing particularly special and pretty limited, but the way some talk of this game you dont expect any more than a few multiplayer maps.

This is a good game, production is amazing, gameplay is good but the lifespan is lacking a bit (not as much as some say). I have spent 10 hours on it and still want more. I will probably hit 30 to 40 hours on this with no problem. This is a really good and fun game and I dont believe is worth any less than a 7. It has the potential to be great with some extensive DLC but right now it isnt there.

Did I feel ripped off for my £40? No, its worth every penny. Not a great but it is a good game. 7/10

For the first few levels you tend to not have a great time- this is a flaw for sure. I found the flying to be hard at first but once I did the tutorials a bit I got better at that too.

After logging some serious hours into this game I now LOVE this game. The game is incredibly immersive in the Star Wars universe. The game has no campaign, but it is a multiplayer game meant to have enormous battlefronts. WARNING do not play this game like a Call of Duty game or you will have a bad time. You have to be careful and find cover, and learn how to capture objectives efficiently.

The game is just plain fun. It does have more depth than meets the eye, but the different star cards basically determine your "class" or what you are best at. If you want to kill vehicles you need an Ion torpedo or Ion shot star card. If you want to kill infantry use pulse canon or homing shot. Play heroes Vs villains to learn the heroes better.

I'm only taking 2 points off for the beginning of the progression system as it is hard for first few levels and one for the DLC price- though I think I will buy it as I am having so much fun with this game, LEGITIMATE fun. Again my first impressions were off, but seriously give this game a chance. Its also really fun with more friends.

I have played Star Wars Battlefront for about 15 hours now. After spending my time with the game, I have established a final opinion on it. For this review, I will be splitting the content up into 5 different categories: Graphics, Sound, Controls, Lasting Appeal, and Server Reliability. Lets start with how this game is presented.

Star wars Battlefront is a breathtaking game since the second its booted up. Once spawned into a map, you will be treated to a superb array of detail and nods to the films and novels. Ewoks can be seen roaming around Endor, and Hoth contains some indoor pathways identical to the movies. And this is before it all gets destroyed. Once the battle starts, battlefront becomes one of the best looking games that I've seen. Ever. AtAt's lurk over the field and ships fly above. There is never a quiet moment in this game I have no complaints about the overall presentation of the game. I would rate it a 10 out of 10.

Next up there is sound. Most effect sound great, in fact, almost all of them do.There's nothing more satisfying then hearing a thermal imploder detonate 10 feet away. However, it's the soundtrack that really bothers me. It sounds good, but it honestly just becomes an annoyance after a while. I found myself playing with the soundtrack off, because it just doesn't match. I would give the sound a 10 out of 10, assuming the soundtrack is down or off.

The controls in this game are very good too. In this game there are "cards" with different weapons, perks, items, etc available for use. They are assigned to the left and right bumpers. The gameplay works, but it's not very innovative, and can get pretty boring after the first 10 hours. 6/10

Next there is lasting appeal. This is where Battlefront struggles. The gameplay had my jaw hanging from the first match, but the majority of it wars off. However, there's nothing more badass then throwing sabers at people with vader, or hulking on the field in a huge AtAt. 6/10

The servers didn't give me a huge problem, but they were a little annoying at times. he game would stop moving at points just because the server was "bad", when Gears of War worked just fine 10 minutes later. Also, you will frequently find yourself spawning into enemy fire. It's extremely annoying. 4/10

All in all, this is a good, but not great game. The game lacks content, but makes up for it in pure awesomeness with what it has.

I hope you all know that unless you shelled out $120.00 plus for the "Elite" edition your targeting reticule will never lock on. if you have the "Standard" or "Deluxe" editions does your reticule ever turn red (with the exception of "Fighter Squadron" which they didn't bother to mess with.) This is apparently a big joke at EA/DICE. Pretty funny stuff.

*note on the lower scores here.
Many people were not given the exact carbon copy of Battlefront 2 (a decade old game at this point) they were expecting with upgraded visuals, because of this they feel the need to lash out and give poor reviews. Same again many did not get a good single player experience from an entirely multiplayer game. Some also take the hipster EA hate route and attack their business practices eg: DLC. None of these people have valid arguments or have anything constructive to say about the actual game so please ignore them. :)

The issue is that this game plays it safe and doesn't offer anything new in its core shooting gameplay. It ignores progress made in the genre and that's most upsetting. Casual players will have a blast but it really isn't for the rest of us in my opinion.
