Not worth to pay that much for that little content. Gameplay is ok but boring after a few hours because of no diversion. There is no campaign, no space fights and every map feels similar. Thank you EA! Again....

do you like games that have heaps of bugs?
do you like games that have very little content on release?
do you like games that will force you to buy DLC in the future just so you can spend more time on it?
do you like games that are way to easy?
No you don't, star wars battlefront is a **** game that EA has over hyped and over priced, it is not worth your money.

There is maybe a lack of maps, but the game does have a good value over time in my opinion. You will see people whining about this but that is because many look at the content and not at content + replay.
It is there that Battlefront is great the replay.

Would I want a single player ? Yes ofc I love campaign but anyone that knows how google works, knew it was not going to be there. Everything the game offers was told months/ weeks before release. the people that are whining at the moment are the people that bought without looking what it offers.

First of all you have to compare the content the game have (as a multiplayer game) next to other games that are release in the last 2 years.

The game is good for his generation, has great visuals, a perfect multiplayer experience and perfect sound effects except from some of the hero's. The content you get based on maps, game modus, sounds, graphics, customization is overall great compared with other games. At least it's a new game with both fps and third person experience, this is also a piece of great engineering, both functions works perfect and looks stunning!

I also wanted a game like battlefront 1/2 and I also realise it just isnt possible to build a galactic conquest. I will explain, so 40 players split up in 2 teams jumping in space ships flying from one ship to the other destroying the ship outside, looks like a real caboodle to me! It would have been extremely unbalanced and not from this time. I would suggest that if we want to play a old generation battlefront we just play the old generations battlefront, because I still play it at moments I desire to.

And for all the gamers that complain about a season pass, PLEASE PUT A ZERO IN EVERY REVIEW YOU WILL EVER MAKE FOR A GAME!

Thanks EA for this amazing experience.
    Greetings,
    A big starwars fan!

Garbage. For real. And now they're trying to pay people to say they like this game. People please, Show EA that giving half of a game and then trying to make you pay $110 for the full game is a crap strategy. For the sake of Star Wars and wallets everywhere, please.

The gameplay doesn't feel even remotely like star wars. If they wanted to create a futuristic shooter with lasers, they didn't need the starwars IP to do it.

I was bored most of the time playing it. enemies take so many shots to kill. They should take one shot.

The ship combat is boring and controls like **** Like somebody slapped wings on the brave little toaster.

One of the biggest disappointing games of the YEAR. No way near the £50 of what it is, at the most it is worth £25. The game is truly Battlefront... but wait! It's now in Star Wars! It's now in Star Wars! With a disgustingly low number of multiplayer game modes, 9 by the way, and something like 10 maps, you will easily get bored after a couple of games, even on the decent game modes. This is not the Battlefront fans fell in love with in the past. It's no where near what i used to be. The freedom of choosing from a class system in Battlefront 1 and 2 is now gone. So no, you can't choose to be an Engineer, or a sniper, or a wookie. You just have to stick put with the standard infantry until you can buy a 'shotgun' or a 'sniper'.

One of the most disappointing aspects of the game is, as said above, the content. NO CAMPAIGN which is ridiculously poor. This game is literally a multiplayer game, with 'Missions' being the only way to play co-op with a friend on either survival, or a simple deathmatch or hero one. Terribly poor from EA. One of the best features of previous battlefronts WAS TO PLAY WITH A FRIEND. But guess what? Now you can hardly do that. No f****** option for a custom game or even a simple skirmish! What the hell is up with that?! Battlefront 2 was the perfect game. It had skirmishes, it had the hunt mode, the classic Mos Eisely hero battle. The awesome Conquest game mode; going from planet to planet and conquering each one. Nope, there's NONE of this in this game. So, so poor from EA this time.

The game however does have its good bits. It is still fun to play; with an entertaining shooting system, and random power up tokens which are very fun to use. The graphics are amazing, whether you are standing still, sprinting, or flying around in a TIE fighter. But these aren't exactly what Battlefront fans are looking for. We'd rather enjoy a far greater freedom of game play that is similar to the previous battlefronts, NOT similar to battlefield.

This game is one of the biggest wastes of money I have ever spent on a game. With only 6 playable heroes available, and only a focus on the sequels and the new Force Awakens film, it's definitely NOT worth buying. What really p***** me off is the fact that EA say, "oh don't worry, there's much more! Just wait for the 4 expansion packs coming out!" oh okay, let me just pay even MORE money for content which should ALREADY BE THERE. Ridiculous from EA. Yet again their extortionate character has come out completely. It's ruined the battlefront franchise completely. It's simply not good enough.

There is a huge lack of content, and the game play just isn't that fun. Lots of people are saying that it's just a Battlefield re-skin, but sadly the game would be better if it was. It feels as if it wants to be both Battlefield and Battlefront, and because of that it fails at being either.

Just like EVERY EA title out there they have broken this game into tiny pieces and plans to sell it back to them in the form of a season pass for an additional $50 extra. My biggest gripe is the fact that they decided to remove the helmets for the storm troopers in the customization and one of them is a old lady! WAY TO RUIN THE IMMERSION DICE! Pay the 70$ on origin, that way you can ask for your money back once you realize how terrible this game is, and hey if you like it, they deserve the 70$ anyway, don't be so cheap.

Maps are so lopsided its not even funny. Its got some of the weirdest design choices in it, like how maps don't randomly rotate, or you never seem to play the same map from the other side. I was dumbfounded on my 5th round playing the forest map as imperials. Just waiting for my chance to play with the cheap rebellion skins and wreck havoc with my easy to hide body and Jawa blaster, but that never happened. The game just rotates the same sides on the same maps over and over. This leads to a lot of people just leaving the game if they end up on the "wrong side" whichever they think that is anyway.

There's also no community building in this game either. Between games, there's no chatting allowed, have to watch the same EXP bar animations over, and over again. No cards to choose this round? Well just sit in silence for about 30 seconds. What- you wanna chat? CHATTING IS ONLY FOR CONSENTING FRIENDS! This isn't a game to make friends in, just play with them.

Choosing what to play also seems so dull, there's no interesting game mashups that would vary up the map selection in any way. If you start one game of walker assault, that's all you'll be playing until you decide otherwise.

Then there's these ridiculous things like, maybe half your team leaves a game, well that doesn't matter, lets just keep going see what happens... Oh, a new map? Well you played that last one with 2 to 1 odds, lets just leave it that way, maybe it'll grow on you? 2/3rds of the players are having a blast if you hadn't noticed! Then there's spawning, you have no choice in the matter, oh an AT-ST is right there, just shooting the very ground you have to spawn on? Tough! Spawn on your partner! Oh he's pointing a gun at something? NO DICE, he's in combat and spawning on him would be unrealistic! Lastly- at least what comes to mind, the re-spawn menu is just broken, it requires you to usually mouse away from clicking the respawn button right away, but sometimes that's not enough, seriously, I check my hands, choose another, and I still can't click the respawn button. Am I missing something?

Agh, whatever, not like anyone but vindictive fanboys will read these reviews and down vote them or whatever. My words won't stop people from buying this game. Just throwing my 2 cents into the pile. It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall of the department that is going to handle all the Origin refunds of this game. It works, it's not broken (except that respawn stuff) but it's just a bad game.

First of all: I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan myself, but I just had to create an account to share my disappointment.

I REALLY tried to like this game, sadly it does not live up the hype in ANY way. After the announcement at E3 that DICE is going to develop the Reboot of SWBF I was really hyped. They obviously know how to develop a good shoter, although you have to admit that they really screwed the launch and of BF4. Forgive and forget, I guess.

Now, imagine a Star Wars that is made by DICE and runs on the visually stunning Frostbite 3 Engine. Should be a safe bet for an awesome game right? No!

I don't even know where to start.

Let's start with the good thing(s). From a technical standpoint this game is stunning. This game does look INCREDIBLE, it sounds gorgeous, it's authentic, it runs absolutely smooth, it has a good netcode and it imagines Star Wars like never before. DICE really know how to use their engine. They absolutely nailed it this time.

And to be honest, this is the best part of the game. Graphics, sound and authenticity.

Now the the (long) list of bad and/or disappointing things:

    Let's start with a list:

Why is there no SERVER BROWSER? It's ******* 2015!!!
Why are there no 64 Players?
Why is there a useless first-person-view?
Why is there no Clone Wars Era?
Why is there such a lack of single-player content?
Why are there no squads and classes?
Why are there no space battles?
Why are there only 4 planets?
Why is there only 1 map for each game mode?
Why are there only 6 heroes?
Why are there only 11 guns?
Who came up with the idea of star cards?

Why does this game LACK this much CONTENT? I really do not get it.
Why does the season pass offer more content than the LAUNCH GAME?
Why does this game cost 60€? It's not worth it in any way.

    _______________________________________

    To explan everything:

I really don't understand why this game lacks content. I seriously don't mind that there is no single-player at all. The campaigns of BF3 and BF4 lacked depth (which the MP of SWBF also does, unfortunately) and they also seemed to be poorly made. DICE really does not know how to deliver a good offline experience. But im fine by this, because of the rock solid and content packed multi-player.

Survival in SWBF is a poorly made mode though, that mostly will entertain you for an hour max. That's not cool.

I also don't mind that there is no clone wars era although the predecessor obviously has it. The original trilogy offers enough content in my opinion. The problem is that I don't see any of this. Where are the other planets like Bespin, Dagobah, Aldeeran, a Death Star map. You even have planets that were not in the film that are still canon like Corellia, Kothlis, Kessel and others that also differ from the existing planets.

Where are unique characters/heroes like Bossk, IG-88, the Imperial Guards of the Emperor, CHEWBACCA(!!!), Calrissian, Admiral Ackbar, General Veers?! The list goes on.

Why are there only 11 guns? I know the movies did not have more, but would it be a problem to imagine new guns? SWBF2 did it as well.

Where are unique Ships like the B-Wing, the Vader's TIE-X1 Advanced and of course the missing space battles? I have a feeling that this will be added in the upcoming DLC's although they could have added it into the base game. Now they will charge you another 50€ for content that actually should be in this game from the beginning.

    _______________________________________
Gameplay: To be honest, the gameplay is fun - for a limited time mainly because it lacks depth, content and replay value. You have 11 guns that either play the same or just suck, you only have 1 map for the big and IMO good game modes which are Walker Assaut and Supremacy. Power Ups are a good way to let everyone play as a hero for example, but it really disturbs the immersion, authenticity and tactical possibilties. It just adds some kind of random factor to the game. Same goes for star cards, the absence of squads and kits, no fixed spawn locations, no enterable vehicles and so on. Basically everything that makes Battlefield cool. You can't really focus on a preferred style of individual gameplay. You need to be lucky to get the right power up at the right time. The other modes are cool in the beginning, but get shallow soon imo as they are nothing more than some kind of TDM variation. Fighter Squadron is also a dissapointment mostly because of the flight controls that are too easy and weird. _______________________________________ To conclude: To be honest, I really hoped that this game would turn out like a Battlefield with Stars Wars skins. Sadly it is neither like Battlefield nor like the original SWBF games that were basically like Battlefield games. Never change a running system, I guess. It turned out to be a generic full-price arcade shooter (that some people are okay with of course) with star wars skins that lacks content that you have to buy for another 50€ season pass. Wasted potential...

    Nice, polished graphics, nothing else; Level of complexity is of an poorly made iPad game; Maps are dead and boring; Game play is very poor; Vehicles are uncontrollable; Characters move like turtles; This lasted for maybe 30 minutes for me, before I claimed refund from Origin; Net code is horrible (compensated by equally horrible weapons);

Star Wars Battlefront really is a masterpiece of graphical art and which certainly delivers an authentic Star Wars experience. Playing as Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader is certainly great fun,.. for about 2 games. After which, the "hero" gimmick runs stale. It is a great hype that does work well but offers nothing special in terms of replay value. Once you kill 3 or 4 generic players / AI then the opposing hero, you've experience all there is to offer by this system. It appears that it's Boba Fett and Han Solo that get the hero limlight due to long range combat and effectively, drawing out players "camping" instincts.

The highlight of this game for me is the Fighter Squadron game type. Taking to the skies in an A-wing fighter or a Tai-fighter is the most appealing part and every experience is different. To be honest, the only reason I like this is because it reminds me of past game just as Star Fox. Same combat system really.

Other game types are simply a very poor play on other game type from shooters of the past decade. Droid Run is simply a domination style game mode where the rules are not exactly clear other than "3 droids, capture them". Cargo is an extremely poor play on the classic capture the flag and Drop Zone is an even worse play on king of the hill.

Story mode simply does not exist and single player / co-op might as well not exist. The missions, which are usually highlighted as single player story, is a team deathmatch / kill confirmed game type against the AI, or against a friend if you can stay awake long enough. AI battles range in difficulty and realistically, you can have no affect to the enemy score so the hardest difficulty isn't worth the effort unless you aim for achievements. They offer no fun or gameplay value at all. The only really single players are the tutorial modes which give set tasks to learn about the games mechanics. But a total of 5 solo (or co-op) missions at 3 - 6 minutes is not enough.

Story wise, the game is based off of 3 movies and the fact they couldn't make a story (or even more objective based missions) is just lazy development. Missions like an all out space war where the objective is to take down the Death Star, rescuing Princess Leia from inside the Death Star or an assault on star destroyers would have added quite a lot of value to this game.
Admittedly, they have done some things well such as the AT-AT assault on the rebel hideout on Hoth which accurately portrays the scene from Episode 5. But this is multiplayer only which kills it for me. Sticking on this area, why is there an AT-AT assault on Endor, Sullust and Tatooine? Endor only had AT-ST assault, Tatooine only had a stormtrooper invasion and Sullust wasn't even in the original trilogy other than a few verbal mentions. Again, lazy devlopment.

Survival isn't really worth a mention. A basic horde type gamemode that only supports 2 player co-op. Nothing Special.

Overall, this could've been an amazing game. an already solid fan base of all media but has been turned into a lazy "get rich quick" scheme by EA. It seems they have taken the "Titanfall" approach with this game. No single player story that people will get bored of after a week. The DLC packs must offer something special or this game will be dead very soon.

The gameplay is just average a bit too simple and the power ups thing its good and makes sense for heroes or starfighters, but I find it annoying for land vehicles (the very few there are) and unnecessary.
To see why I rented it but didnt biy it is simple I asked myself a question is this a solid game on its own without dlc, yes or no? making dlc an optional choice if you have the cash. Answer it is not. The DLC will not be Add-ons they will be a sort of game-life-support thing to keep people playing it, and such a game its not worth 110 f****g euros.

+ Graphics and sound: Beautiful, very immersive

+ Power ups: These drop at random locations and add strategic value to the game. They can be anything from cannons, turrets and droids to orbital strikes, rocket launchers and squad shields. I actually liked it. You also have to find these power ups to become a hero/villain or to get into an AT-AT, AT-ST, A-wing, X-wing, etc. You get the picture.

+ Scope: Playing on Hoth, while an air battle is being waged above you, explosions everywhere, 39 other players on the map with you. Simply awesome feeling for a Star Wars fan.

+ Star cards: Considering all that I didn't like about the simplicity of this game (see below), I liked the cards system, where you could pick 3 abilities/equipments, e.g. shield, grenades, sniper rifle, jump pack, etc., and craft your own deck.

    - Lack of content: Only 4 maps. That's 4. 4 maps. Still can't believe it. More maps coming though, if you have the cash atop the 60 bucks you already payed. 16 additional maps planned as DLC? I get that developers and publishers need to make money, but when you ship the game with 4 maps and plan to add 16 more (+300%), how is that a legitimate DLC policy? How can you claim that this is supposed to be a standalone game? Also, only 11 weapons, the handling of which was so similar that it seemed there were even less than 11.

    - Game modes: Only a few. Don't look at the numbers, all of them were basically slight variations of Walker Assault and Blast. Simply adding Luke, Lea and Solo to Blast suddenly makes it a new mode? I don't think so. I expected more diversity from a multiplayer-only game.

    - Aircraft control: I don't like it at all. You maneuver with the cursor and use WASD to adjust your speed. It seems so counter-intuitive to me. Could you imagine steering your car with your cursor in racing games?

    - Single player: Practically non-existent. In my opinion, there is zero replay value to it.

    - Simplicity: There is not a lot of depth to this shooter. Again, it's multiplayer-only, so I think some depth can be legitimately expected.

You may notice that I wrote in past tense. That's because I returned it after 4 hrs of playing it. They are addressing some of these issues with future, payed DLC? This game is already too expensive (60 bucks) for what it's delivering, but the DLC policy is the icing on the cake. Drop it by 50% and I may consider buying it. To me, this seems like they prioritized looks over substance and hijacked the experience by charging it +100% what it's actually worth gameplay- and content-wise.

The production of the game is absolutely amazing, the graphics are fantastic as is the sound. The servers also seem to be holding up. A top top quality game on the production front.

The gameplay took a little getting used. It felt a little slower than COD or Battlefield, and I feel it takes longer to dispatch your enemy with the early weapons. It is also noticible how different the kill to death ratio is to other shooters. I havent noticed it being any greater than 2:1 at the top, although I know its early days. That said the bottom of the table still consists of those on a 1:5-10. So this game is more equitable and accessible, but dont get me wrong it is still a challenge. All in, the gameplay isnt bad, its just slightly different. As for the maps, the ones we have are pretty good although I still need some time with them. The game modes are really good and varied, no issues on that from me. I come to battlefront for big battles and supremacy and walker assault deliver this well. the other modes wont be my go to modes but having tried all out for a couple of games each they will certainly be a good distraction.

Now on to the thorny issue of lifespan. it is a relative question. Having come off 200 hours on Witcher should I expect the same from a FPS for the same price? I dont think anyone would but it does make you think about what is reasonable for my £40. I suppose the fairest way to look at this is to compare to other FPS. you undoubtedly get more with the other franchises, but I honestly dont think you get a massive amount more. Had the battle of Jakku been included in the off this would bring the maps to 14.... that isnt too bad! There is no single player campaign, which I would really have loved and the game is poorer for its ommission.

That said having read the user reviews on this site I had a real crisis. I love Star Wars but I hate being ripped off. After a lot of thought I just went for it, and when I got it home I loaded it up not expecting much. You can control Vader whilst the game installed and this did nothing to allay my fears the controls felt clunky and it went on far too long. But, when I actually got in I started with the solo tasks to try and get used to the pace of the game. I was pleasantly surprised (having expected the worst) with the solo elements, nothing particularly special and pretty limited, but the way some talk of this game you dont expect any more than a few multiplayer maps.

This is a good game, production is amazing, gameplay is good but the lifespan is lacking a bit (not as much as some say). I have spent 10 hours on it and still want more. I will probably hit 30 to 40 hours on this with no problem. This is a really good and fun game and I dont believe is worth any less than a 7. It has the potential to be great with some extensive DLC but right now it isnt there.

Did I feel ripped off for my £40? No, its worth every penny. Not a great but it is a good game. 7/10

"We've captured the point. ALL TOO EASY!" Han Solo recites lines we've heard in a dozen other games, but only heard once in the movies. The game wasn't written to fit in within the SW movies, it was assembled verbatim from them. Worse, it was assembled from the Star Wars movies we've seen a hundred times. Conveniently rushed to shelves in time to see a new one hit theaters in a few weeks, but we don't see any of that one here.

The problem is that if you were to strip away the Star Wars theme from these battles and reskin it with pretty much anything else, the game is not good. Sure, it feels like the originals, but they're a decade old. There's no excuse for this game to be the least bit shallow in terms of content, but there it is. You're running around looking for glowing tokens like Crash Bandicoot looking for fruit.

It comes down to people who are happy with what we were handed here, and the people who see what this could have been. It could have expanded on things like Jedi Knight or KOTOR, could have had gameplay options and freedom like the Arkham games did for Batman (tell me using the grapple hoist line Luke used to grenade the AT-AT, but free to use anywhere creatively wouldn't have been amazing) but instead we got the standard EA movie tie-in treatment.

It looks great, sounds great and is definitely very "star wars", but that's where the positives end. Its hugely over simplified - from the lack of weapons, to the lack of customisation, to the complete lack of physics, to the dull maps. You run around, point your blaster at someone and hold fire for 2-3 seconds and then move on. More often than not this means running into someone else doing the exact same to you and then dieing, ready to repeat the whole exercise again.

What could have saved it is the powerups/X-Wings/vehicles - but the random nature of their spawns (the flying vehicles in particular) makes trying to get one a very frustrating affair - an order of magnitude more frustrating than trying to get a plane in Battlefield for example - so that should tell you something!

They could have done so much more. Adding more than 11 blaster variants, weapon modifications, gadgets (scanners anyone?), some sort of meaningful progression, an ammo mechanic (power packs would do and still be cannon), some sort of physics engine, maps that are not quite so open, 64 player mode, a commander mode...the list goes on.

I should really have learnt from the beta and not pre ordered this game - but I like many others had the expectation that the beta was just that - a beta - and that there was still time for Dice to finish the game. Alas that didn't happen, and we end up with what feels like exactly the same stripped down build that we had in beta.

This game is the disappointment of 2015 - and thats before I even mention the fact that there is a tonne of content behind a DLC paywall (one which is heavily advertised in game!). It's hard to believe this was made by the same people that brought us the Battlefield series.

I strongly advise you to rent this one rather then buying it initially, or wait for it to plummet in price as it no doubt will before long. There are so many brilliant games on the Xbox One right now that you really don't need to waste your money just yet.

I suddenly canceled my pre-order and rented Battlefront 3 as soon as it was available and I was heart broken. One of my favourite games of all time had been bought over and sabotaged into a gorgeous looking lacklustre game. All the detail from the previous games had been lost and now we are left with this shambolic load of crap. Another title streamlined for the next generation of gamers, gamers who never played the originals and gamers who would literally throw money at whatever the next title comes out for their beloved console. This game is quite literally a big F U to all the fans of the original games. At the end of the day its not what the fans want but the investors of the company! That is the god honest truth. Very repetitive game, I was bored within half an hour but I tried to give it a chance and played for about 8 hours without having any fun. They seem to have literally picked the worst mechanics they could find, slapped on a couple Star Wars skins and made one map which switches from snow to rocks and called it a day. Most disappointing game of the year for sure, quite possibly of my life.

On the gameplay front its not much different. Its a simplistic, dumbed down version of battlefield. Blaster combat isn't particularly satisfying. Power ups on the ground and card loadouts give momentary boosts in strength. Its not particularly captivating.

Ultimately its something Star Wars fans will have a good time with due to its brand loyalty, but anyone approaching this from the game point of view is likely to be very disappointed.

It's not the third so in my eyes this is something new, a test if you will. This game is a perfect example of 'Graphics don't make a game' since in 4k this game looks phenomenal but there's nothing new or unique. There's barely any guns and I believe 6 maps in general, 4 for walker assault and 2 extra for the small maps.

    What went wrong?!
Anyone could say time constraints but unless EA forced Dice to make this game as it is there is no excuse, no space battles or Conquest was the biggest mistake ever as survival is as **** and repetitive as you'd expect. Had the game had 6 maps or a couple less BUT had the amazing large battles that had both space and land in the same fights as the PSP game did this would be a huge success but no. Why? No seriously why couldn't they do any of it? There is no excuse.

And the New DLC that adds 16?!?!?!?!?! maps to the game is a disgrace, time constraints? Yeah because they don't already have any of those maps waiting to be released. New Modes as well with the DLC, it seems EA or Dice thought everyone would agree with the Battlefield model except what they forgot is BATTLEFIELD HAS MORE CONTENT.

Also to add to the Time Constraints argument, there was already a better battlefront game that had full transition to space that was cancelled and then this garbage was made. They could have used that game instead.

To sum it up, Battlefront is NOT Battlefront 3 and never will be, it's a completely different game and even with its Unbelievable graphics Battlefront 2 is still the better choice or if can get it the PSP battlefront game. Hopefully in a few years Battlefront 2 will come out and it will surpass this game by so much we will forget this was even a game, or hell if out of the blue the cancelled game gets active again and comes out.

I've played the game about 30 Minutes while countless hours on the beta, what does this mean? The game has nothing unique about it, the walker assault mode is its USP and they flushed it away through the beta.

ALSO If EA are being the mischievous **** we all know them to be I imagine one of those 2 modes could be space battles which means locking it away behind DLC so more money for them, hell they could have full transitional battles there as well. I don't imagine there's much else they could add so it wouldn't surprise me.

P.S I don't own this game, i'm an EA access member so I used my trial and didn't pick up my pre-order because of this. I'll wait for the game to be added to the vault which probably won't be long since EA did the same with Hardline when people didn't like that.

Many people were not given the exact carbon copy of Battlefront 2 (a decade old game at this point) they were expecting with upgraded visuals, because of this they feel the need to lash out and give poor reviews. Same again many did not get a good single player experience from an entirely multiplayer game. Some also take the hipster EA hate route and attack their business practices eg: DLC. None of these people have valid arguments or have anything constructive to say about the actual game so please ignore them. :)

Their is far too many meaningless unlockables in an attempt to give people arbitrary reasons to keep playing. I haven't boughten a game from EA in at least 5 years and this game affirmed I should avoid EA games.

They have blatantly released half a game, this Battlefront should have shipped with a Full Campaign mode with a story that ties in to the New Movie. It's a blatant rip-off that it doesn't include it. Not to mention the fact that his Star Wars is completely based on the original trilogy, there is nothing in the entire game from the New Film which makes no sense because it's launch is coinciding (within less than one month) with the new film.

This is typical Lazy, Anti-Consumer EA at work. I love Star Wars and its fun to enjoy the Nostalgia for a moment, but they have so grossly left out the campaign, a story that ties in to the movie, and failed to include any characters, visuals or environments from the new film that it's hard to even give this game a 4/10.

Graphically: This is one of the best FPS I have ever seen and from the standpoint of the Art Design, it truly looks amazing. It feels like you are in the Original Trilogy, amazing art in this game. I give the graphics and visuals a 10/10.

Gameplay: This is basically Battlefield with a Star Wars skin. This really feels like a $20 DLC pack their pawning off as a $60 game and then trying to get you to pay $50 for DLC on top of that. Not to mention the DLC is so sleazy, they've clearly bareboned this game and plan on charging the absolute maximum for content that needed to be included in the regular launch version.

In my opinion all FPS nowadays need to have a Campaign/Story mode. A Multiplayer mode with excellent Matchmaking. And a Horde mode where you can relax and fight PvE style.
Also I think it should include; Custom Games, Theatre for watching your gameplay and quality Stat Tracking. This game Basically gives you 1/2 of a PVP mode with terrible Matchmaking playlists. It follows the COD style where you simply pick a gametype, so 90% of players are in either Team Deathmatch or One objective gametype and the entire rest of the playlists have 0 population.

TL;DR, Summary, Verdict: This is typical EA, they sell you half a multiplayer, basically a Star Wars themed DLC for Battlefield and pawn it off as a Full game. This game left a really bad taste in my mouth and re-affirmed that I should avoid EA games. Not impressed. Also their is 0-relation to the New Star War movie coming out in 2 weeks. Everything in the game is based on the Original Trilogy there is nothing related to the New Movie shockingly.

    Let's run it down a pro/con list

    - cons

    No galactic conquest

Lack of a decent class system

    Female storm troopers (excuse me?)

An eerie sparseness of class content (like in titanfall)

    Not many maps

flying controls are...jesus...they're horrible, this one bothers me especially because most people are used to the physics and controls in Battlefield, because of the Frostbite engine, but in this game they've retooled the mechanics for flying to make it more user friendly, WHICH IS IRONIC because 99.99999% of the f***ing players are already used to the other controls, and if Battlefront is your first FPS then you should probably get the f*ck of the servers. DICE was like "oh hey you guys like the controls? alright here you g- AHAHHAHA just kidding f*ck you! here's a broken non-userfriendly control scheme, use this s*it, not our problem because we're bathing in money right now"

Season pass = 39.99!?! excuse me? EA you covetous f*ck get over here!

Oh and not to mention 5 DLCs, mhmm that's good. didn't realize I was playing COD

    Lack of vehicle combat.

No space battles? that was the entire reason I bought battlefront 2 in 2005. Oh excuse me, I didn't mean to impune the all knowing omnipotence of EA, you smelly little f**ker

Imbalance on ATAT assault, the Rebels will lose 70% of the time, it's like Invasion from Halo Reach, where if you were the Spartans you would lose constantly

No campaign, I really do give a s*it
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Now for the pros

    Customize armor

    game looks great

    wilhelm scream

    and that's f**king it.

I must draw comparisons to Battlefronts big competition (Call of Duty & even Battlefield). Both of these games provide an abundance of content (even without paid DLC / season passes) and have a large amount of depth that is required to keep gamers invested. This is clearly a game that was released too early with the hopes of cashing in on the movie. Gamers are left with a bad taste in their mouth and the desire to replay the old Battlefront 2 game instead. Expand

This is future that mobile games have brought us. Appealing to a large audience brings with it terrible gameplay- made to appeal to casual gamers and kids. This game is fun for exactly 2 hours. The price is borderline robbery for what you get.

Your $60 investment only gets you only a small portion of what they put into this title. EA expects you to pay an additional $50 for the rest of it. And since it is multiplayer only, you are asked to pay $110 for what is only half a game to begin with. "Multiplayer only" is just EA's "always-on DRM" by another name.

It could have been something really special if they had kept the ESSENCE of BATTLEFRONT, but they went ahead and did a poor imitation of something that has been overdone..I think we are all good on first person shooters.

I wish the original battlefront game style could be brought back, I really do.

The gameplay is fast paced and **** fun as hell and it is a mix of Battlefield, Battlefront 2 and Call of duty (Some may consider that a bad thing. But **** you). Playing as the heroes is fun but you can easily fun a pick up and you die rather easily, this makes it so you don't feel as powerful as you really should feel when playing as a sith lord. The fighter squadron mode for me is really **** fun. Dogfights are intense and make me feel like i'm actually in the movies when i'm piloting an x-wing. There are some game modes that I love. Droid run is very tactical and team based but to win the mode you have to have the msot droids at the end of the match so if your team had all of the droids for the whole match and then the other team swoop in at the last second you feel very cheated. Walker Assault is great but is slightly one sided. Supremacy is fun. And heroes vs villains is also great. Customization needs to be improved but it is still a nice feature. The star card system is great and the weapons even though there is a sufficient amount they all seem to feel the same when using them. Survival is good but i'm not a huge fun of modes like that so I didn't enjoy it that much. That being said if you like horde modes you will love this. Playing this game made me feel like a kid again as I flew through the sky in an x-wing and took to the battlefield as Luke Skywalker and it brang back some memories I had when playing Battlefront 2 when I was a kid 8 years ago.

But then there is the issues with the game. There is no campaign for starters which is a real bummer. This means that there is no new original interesting story and there is nothing to fall back on after playing the riveting multiplayer for a long time. There is also no space battles or galactic conquest, which kind of sucks seems as they were great in Battlefront 2. And then there is EA, slapping their massive **** dick all over the players faces until they ejaculate a season pass on to the players while begging them for money. I may have gone a bit far with that but you get my point. The **** season pass. Which most likely has all the missing content in. And they are going to make everyone pay for it because **** you we're corporate dick faces who hate the consumer but love their money. But who knows the DLC could actually have loads of content in. But it most likely won't. Also after about a month and leading up to the new movie Star Wars Battlefront will probably get tiresome and will disappear from my mind until five months later when I remember it actually exists and start playing all over again and falling in love with it all over again.

Overall the game is fun, addictive, immersive and for a while is **** great. But in theory it is a disappointment. Even though the gameplay is great it lacks content. No campaign or innovative modes. At the moment it is one of the most fun shooters I have played in a while and the added Star Wars theme makes it even better. But at full price it can **** off. Because most of the game will be added through DLC. 7.5/10

The decision whether you should play this game or not ultimately comes down to a small selection of questions:

Do you prefer your shooters to be light on complexity, but still be fun to play in small doses? Are you a huge Star Wars fan? Is a highly intensive graphical experience important to you? Are you someone who is busy and can't invest a lot of time when playing a game?

Is a highly intensive graphical experience important to you?

Are you someone who is busy and can't invest a lot of time when playing a game?

Are you someone who is only concerned with multiplayer competitive games?

If you answered yes to all of these questions, then you should buy Battlefront. If you answered yes to some of the questions, but not all, give it a rent. You'll find out pretty quickly whether this game is a title you want to invest an actual purchase towards.

I'm really liking this game so far, while others have used its simplicity as a negative against it, I love the arcade-y, simplistic feel. I just jump in a game, have fun no matter the outcome, and not feel like I have to invest over a hour for a singe match.

The biggest detraction for the game is it feels like a seminal title, that you should wait for next year when they can really expand upon their initial offering. There's a base here for a really great game, it just falls short of great and is pretty good. So if you're a Star Wars fan looking for a great Star Wars experience, and doesn't mind playing a pretty good but not great game, then give it a shot.

Looks stunning, has some fun elements, but for a multiplayer-focused game, there's not a lot to love. Gameplay is simple, repetitive, and not much room for strategy, tactics, or interesting customization. Compared to past DICE games, as well as past Battlefronts (I know it's been a while), this is a huge letdown.

It's games like this that make me worry about the direction of Star Wars. Disney is planning a movie every year, but with the rejection of the EU the Star Wars universe is empty and they seem to be going for a flashy cash grab. The brand is strong enough to hold up for a while but they're killing the golden goose here.

It would have been AMAZING if they had a single player campaign as well given the graphics but there is no sign that was even an idea they had.

Along with nailing the look of the Star Wars universe DICE also managed to capture the elegant sound of John Williams original score. I don't play many FPS, however when the battle is raging and a tie fighter crashes right beside you, you hear "Lord Vader fights among us." and the the sound on your speakers starts to crescendo with that gorgeous score it is something special, coming from a Star Wars fans heart. However that said, if you do not like Star Wars I would not recommend this game for you- there is not much content and if you are solely purchasing for good gameplay there is better games out for that. I guess you cannot please everyone.

This is a great game and one I have waited over 10 years for. Please give this game a chance and play with friends, because that is when a bulk of the fun begins. The replay value with friends will be great as new maps are added. One last comment on the maps, they are amazing and I found myself continuing to find new paths and places to hide and use to my advantage. We have not discovered all the unique gems of the game.

Finally, lets not under report how stable the launch has been. I played several online games on DAY1 and had ZERO server issues on PS4. When was the last game to launch with such a stable online environment???? COD Black ops III has had multiple server outages and issues that ruined my ability to play online in week one. A graphical leap that deserves special attention. Make no mistake, this is some of the best graphics any FPS has ever had EVER. Sure...it doesn't pack the same amount of content that Black Ops III has...but this is a gaming experience unlike any I've ever had, and for that, I can't help but feel a bit bummed by some of these critics reviews.

The game is decidedly minimalistic...with smooth motion graphics that show your score and upgrades at the end of each match. The game has stripped away a lot of the **** that has distanced some people from COD and Battlefield, and brought the player back to a simpler time much akin to Goldeneye.

The game is more about the battle itself and the objectives at hand. Maps don't provide unrealistic cardboard boxes you can hide behind to protect yourself from bullets. The landscape is like a real landscape of a battlefield...sometimes open and perilous, sometimes tight and awkward. This has been deemed a mistake by a lot of reviewers, but I find it incredibly refreshing. For once people have to survive based on their ability to take chances and use their skill-set, rather than half-hide behind a wall and camp all day, picking off unsuspecting players as they race toward an objective.

Speaking of which, the heroes create a balance where anyone who has decided to take the camping route can no longer hide. Heroes are immensely fun to take control of, and they provide a fun way to strategically take over waypoints. I'm still itching to play as Boba Fett again--flying through the forest of Endor shooting my enemies below as I protect them from activating the uplinks. It actually made me consider taking a day off of work. It's a richly unique experience and reminds me of a first-person shooter version of League of Legends. A tug-of-war match from the ground with heroes leading the charge. It's a ton of fun.

And for once, I'm actually excited to put some money down for DLC. I really believe in the engine that's been created here, and while I feel I have plenty to dig into still after a solid 10 hours of online gameplay, my mind races thinking of all the cool maps, unlockables, and game types this game is going to unleash. I'm more than satisfied with what's here, but I can tell EA put in a lot of work to creating a living, breathing world, and anything they add to this will be delicious gravy.

I'm shocked at the reaction to this game. It seems that people either love it or hate it. Which I often think is a sign of a good film. I've never quite applied that to video games though.

Here's a perfect example on how you should view your decision to purchase Star Wars: Battlefront or not. I'm always amazed by how people support Destiny like it's their first born child. It's a game that seems so repetitive and lacks so much content that it originally promised. It's a game that requires you to grind through the same bosses and maps to find new, rare loot. People love this game. I loved the story mode, and I enjoyed grinding for a short while, but ultimately, I think that it fell incredibly short of Microsoft's promise to essentially deliver the entire UNIVERSE.

My whole point for mentioning Destiny though is that at a certain level of video game quality--people just like what they like. I don't knock anyone for liking Destiny. Presentation, graphics, and audio are excellent. It's a well-made game. Tier-1 video game development here. But it's not my thing. It's their thing. It didn't meet my expectations, but it met a lot of other people's expectations to a "T."

It's weird to me to review Star Wars: Battlefront and give it a 6/10 like Forbes did today. (Ironically they gave it a 10/10 yesterday). I mean...have you played a 6/10 game before? Games like Star Wars: Battlefront don't belong in a failing category. Perhaps it didn't meet your expectations, like Destiny didn't meet mine. Perhaps it meant that it was not your style--but there's no argument: it's presentation, appeal, gameplay and replay-ability is beyond excellent.

Winter Nagano Olympics '98 for the original Playstation, that game was a 6/10. Some of the Harvest Moon series' games (which by the way, I have a soft spot for Harvest Moon), those games are 6/10.

Star Wars: Battlefront? At the bare minimum a 7.5 out of 10. If you just absolutely hated this game...you can't say it's a failing game entirely.

What the Battlefield/Battlefront series does better than any Call of Duty game is tell a story. Call of Duty is a shooter for sport. Battlefront is a shooter with a priority on fun and experiences.

    It's cinematic. It's strategic. It's excellent gameplay.

Some of these reviewers I just want to ask them, "Is your ice-cream too cold?" This game is excellent dessert. It's entirely well-made and well-executed. Just because they were expecting something else, doesn't a game is bad.

I think everyone just wanted to include a Star Wars pun in their review title.
