I play it with family/friends for local co-op. The console version looks good and the UI is nice. Ubisoft has you register, but I have Rocksmith and several of their board games and their rewards system makes it kind of tolerable. This game uses a 6 die system, so the results are often illogical (30 attackers losing to 1 defender). Card turn in's throw huge #'s on the board. So this game isn't very strategic, and ebbs and flows a ton. But this is a classic board game worth having on console IMO. Expand

    WTF it's Risk!

If you really like Risk you will get your value for the 15 bucks because this version is decent but it does have its share of problems. First off you have to have or make a Uplay account to play online which is stupid and once you're there the servers usually suck. Over & over & over again you won't be able to find a game and once you do the game won't even tell you what options the host picked for the game, so the game will start, suprise!, you're playing secret mission instead of global domination, or you'll have to go through the time consuming picking your territories stage instead of it being automatic. When people quit out the AI will take their place. The game is very bare bones, just classic rule set with a more modern territory star card system in place which always the same for army growth, which stops people turning in cards at the end getting massive armies for no reason. Purists might hate that, I think it makes the game more fair.

If you really like classic Risk with a tiny bit of modern sensibilities like I do you will won't feel your money was thrown away. The presentation is very nice, and even with its online problems I feel the often long length of this game makes it ripe for local play anyways. If you don't care too much about Risk, just pass...

The second thing its gets completely wrong is the AI, the choices the AI makes are terrible and mind boggling, makes no sense, stupid, stupid AI. So if you was hoping to take a break from the broken/ill programmed multiplayer to play some single player then get ready for a soon to be very redundant game of watching the AI attack each other non-stop (doing nothing more than consuming time as cannon fodder). The "defensive AI "is programmed so messed up it wont even take its last territory it needs to make a continent EVER if you stack so many troops on their border. The "aggressive AI" attacks down to 1 guy, EVERY TIME..super predictable, super boring, SUPER STUPID. The "balanced ai"...ROFL...pretty much like the aggressive but may actually leave 2-3 guys at the end on a territory or 2...again nothing more then predictable cannon fodder. Now having said all that...i've got tens of hours into this game and got my money's worth of entertainment for the low price point, so all is not a loss. I also hope development acknowledges some of these reviews and works to make the next game WAYYYY better. Wouldnt it be cool to be able to zoom in and carry out the bombing raids/tank raids/infantry raids..etc...like zoom from the map down into FPV. That could even work really well with the new VR tech. THINK about it. As for this game 5/10-Average, held back by lack of replay-ability after 30-60 hours due to mind numbing ai choices/non-level multiplayer. Expand

All in all, it makes it difficult to see the whole board when you need to see it and that makes playing the game way too frustrating to bother with it. I paid for the game but, because of the popup windows and blurring background, deleting it holds more value to me than keeping it. Expand

The startup menu is a fairIf Michael Bay made a video game, it would be something like this. Another horribly arranged game from Ubisoft. The startup menu is a fair setup with easy to use options. The real trouble begins when you start playing. You do an insane amount of button mashing on every turn just to speed up gameplay, constantly choosing to speed up the AI and skip the repetitive battle scenes. The options in game are limited and you don’t get many choices to rid yourself of the things that holds the game back. Plus, every new game will have one AI that gets a pass and has three continents captured with little resistance from other AI. The game is just boring. Ubisoft is also notorious for glitches that don’t get fixed for years (look up Assassins Creed IV and the game erasing progress). So buyer beware.

If you want a fun Risk option, look for the “Conquest” app for your phone. It’s way better than this, with fast gameplay, smarter AI, and unique maps to play. Plus, it’s free...which is what this Risk version should be.

Offline is trash. The A.I. attacks 100% of the time with all of their troops. When a player quits in match, if it is immediately after a bad turn, the turn is reset and an A.I. is placed in the match to complete that colour's turns. These positive reviews are either fake, or the players haven;t spent much time in game. I should also mention the random glitches that freeze games, make the board disappear from the screen and other such nonsense. Hasbro should be effing ashamed. Expand
