    So I finished the game today (part of 1.24% that has so far) so I definitely feel I can give an opinion.

    Firstly, the game is a 9.5 from me but I can't rate it at that so rounded up. This game is most definitely the best console game I have ever played and as a massive fan of the first the fan service is there but it is subtle and you do not need to play the first to enjoy or    So I finished the game today (part of 1.24% that has so far) so I definitely feel I can give an opinion.

    This game is most definitely the best console game I have ever played and as a massive fan of the first the fan service is there but it is subtle and you do not need to play the first to enjoy or appreciate the game at all.
    The story, cinematography, optimisation, personality and game play are phenomenal and Rockstar Games have set the bar extremely high for any other AAA games studio.
    My only criticisms of the game are a pretty substantial amount of bugs in some story missions which are very noticeable but they very rarely impact the overall experience, it seems that it is more prominent in the second half of the games story. The other criticism would be that the epilogue portion can feel a wee bit dragged out but not from story building missions, more from some action ones.
    Rockstar Games deserve an Oscar for this game hands down, it is mind boggling that this is the quality it is. In my opinion it surpasses GTA 5 and any prior title. The sheer level of detail and obvious love which has gone into this game speaks volumes about the company and I would like to thank the 100's of people who have worked on this game, it has given me the best experience from a story driven video game of my life and I mainly play choice based RPG's!
    Roger Clark who is the voice actor behind Arthur Morgan is someone who deserves particular recognition as the character he brings to Arthur again, is the best I've seen in a game. I've made a MetaCritic account just because I need to let anyone (of which there are few) people who are on the fence with this game to know, there is something for everyone in this game, you will not regret buying it and the online hasn't even dropped yet! (hoping it won't be drowned in micro-transactions like GTA Online but we all know it will be, prove everyone wrong please Rockstar!)

    But yes, 9.5/10 absolutely amazing and Rockstar deserve every single bit of praise they receive with this game. They have paved the way for the new generation of games and if this is what can be expected from gaming in the future, that future is extremely bright!     One of my most anticipated games of the past few years, RDR2 didn't disappoint. I've put almost 450 hours into the game and still keep picking it up to go roam the countryside between playing other releases. The story was emotional and deeply involving, the game play fun and in-depth. The graphics are absolutely stunning and the sheer depth of the world itself is staggering. The opportunities to fail when following in the footsteps of Red Dead Redemption were many but RDR2 took all that was great in the original and elevated it. John Maston is one of the most beloved characters in the genre, but not only did Arthur Morgan match him, but for me he far surpassed the original. RDR2 is a masterpiece not only of it's medium and genre but also of how to make a proper sequel/prequel.
    Having read some of the lower scored reviews it seems a lot of the negative feedback is about the game's pace, but there are different games for different players and this is by far my favorite way to play a game. To immerse myself, to enjoy the ride from A to B and see what happens on the way. I took so many screenshots as I travailed that I actually hit my Xbox's limit. Something I didn't even know existed. This is a game to enjoy slowly, to sip and savour like a fine brandy. it is not a shot of vodka to be tossed back in one big gulp and swiftly forgotten.
    I've replayed the main story and it's epilogue, twice and am still finding new side missions, new characters and new locations to explore.    … Expand

    I've beaten the game once already, and it's so good, I legitimately started a new play through 10 minutes afterwards, and I'm still    Red Dead Redemption 2, one of the most detailed, content filled, and beautiful games ever.     I've beaten the game once already, and it's so good, I legitimately started a new play through 10 minutes afterwards, and I'm still coming across random events, strangers, side missions, and more, that I never saw in my first play through. The game play, gun play, horse riding, walking, looting, pretty much everything in this game is great, a little clunky at times, but amazing. It's worth playing if for nothing else than shooting people in the west.

    My issue is the story, mainly how Red Dead 1 never mentions ANY of these IMPORTANT characters, Arthur is Dutch's right hand man and basically his son, Arthur is basically John's brother, but he is NEVER mentioned, even Sadie Adler, who plays a big part is never mentioned. Charles Smith who plays a huge part also, is never mentioned, I don't even think Hosea is mention, and he was like a brother to Dutch and a father to John and Arthur, but none of these important characters are mentioned at all. I don't think it takes away from this game RDR2, but it definitely takes away from either RDR1 or R* because if you're going to create as important of characters as these people, you need to find a way to have it make sense that the man that they saved and was raised with never mentions them at all, ever.

    It's kinda why I disagree with prequels, you create all these important characters for the prequel, but then when you think about what it's a prequel of, and how these characters are not mentioned at all, it kinda pisses you off, and you see why prequels are a bad idea.

    But all the same, this game is downright amazing, Arthur Morgan, Sadie Alder and Charles Smith are 3 of my favorite characters in gaming history, right there with John Marston and Geralt of Rivia, maybe even higher, Arthur at least. This game deserves a 10, no matter what. We have over, way over 100 hours of content in the base game, and we still have yet to play Red Dead Online, which will add hundreds of hours more of content, thousands for some people, including myself.

    If any of these, wild west, amazing gun play, amazing horse riding, great characters, an amazing story, or watching a horses nuts shrink in the cold weather, pick up Red Dead Redemption 2 as soon as you can.

    And yes, the $100 edition is totally worth it, you will not regret a damn thing.    … Expand

    This game is a must play! I would put it above many of my favorites film franchises! Such good character development, story, quality, and quantity. I do know how it can ever be surpassed.     For me, this is THE game. I realize it's not for everyone, but I enjoy the scenery and the hunting/fishing/etc. Don't take my review for gold as I wasn't a fan of GTA V but did love Redemption and Revolver, but the story is very well done, which is par for the course for a Rockstar game.

It‘s realistic I don‘t expect a drunken cowboy as agile as spiderman I mean WTF... if you just want a pure action game play farcry something.     This Game is absolutely gorgeous, and runs so smooth. I don't EVER experience frame rate drops. The game plays at a very slow pace at times... but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad, the story is SO rich and full of amazing characters. There's no time filling missions with no-point or reason to them, everything has a purpose and contributes to the grand scheme of the story withThis Game is absolutely gorgeous, and runs so smooth. The controls of the game is good, although kinda goofy at times... plays extremely realistic-ish at times, and can be frustrating if you don't pay attention to your path by crashing or whatnot but personally i think it is definitely an improvement for Rockstar adds to the immersion immensely. The interfaces also will take some time to get use to but once you get the hang of it, it works great. First person mode is a huge step up from GTA V and wasn't tacked on, the game was made with both (First person/ 3rd person) perspective in mind and feels, looks and works great.… Expand

    C. I am not a Rockstar fanboy. In fact, I have now only finished three of their games. Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Grand Theft Auto V.

    With that being said, onto the review.

    This game is absolutely perfect for me as a player. Obviously there are gripes people have, but those gripes don't necessarily reflect as a bad thing for me when it comes to how I play the game.

    Yes it is clunky, but I enjoy the weighty feel of my character moving and interacting with the world. You also get used to the controls pretty fast as well. As for the immersion and survival elements, I am entirely okay with them as I am big into survival games already.

    The big thing with this game is that is has absolutely an absolutely superb story that nearly moved me to tears three separate times over the course of ten minutes. The characters are layered and actually evolve as the game continues, whilst also staying consistent to how they would act. This story has to be, without a doubt, the best video game story on the market right now.

    The sound design is another big plus. The music system they programmed to create tracks on the fly is nothing less than impressive, and the general design and feel of the sounds you hear throughout the gameplay keeps you immersed throughout the entire experience.

    Finally, the graphics are fantastic for three separate but equal reasons: character models, lighting, and facial animations. Everything about these three specific things are executed masterfully.

    I personally think the definition of a perfect game is something that does exactly what it set out to do and this game passed that definition with flying colors. It is a must play.    … Expand

    I honestly have no idea why the rating for this is so low. this is literally the best game I've ever played in my life. it has so many things for you to do and the graphics and details are orgasmic. this is what a game looks like if the developers actually care for their customers, unlike EA or Ubisoft. don't hesitate to buy this game.

    This game is one of the best games of the decade, possibly ever. There are a few flaws, hand to hand combat is weird and kinda sucks at times and movement as usual with a Rockstar game is a bit weird. But the open world and attention to detail is amazing, gun play is perfect like usual in Rockstar games. Haven't noticed any frame drops at all on my Xbox one so maybe I'm a bit lucky orThis game is one of the best games of the decade, possibly ever.     At first I was one of those people saying that this game is tedious and boring. I purchased this game on the first day and immediately played this game only to find myself falling asleep after a couple hours of gameplay. The following day I played a bit more and just got bored of it. Well the following Monday I gave it another chance, I played a few hours and something just clicked. I realized that everything in this game is amazing (characters, story telling, setting), and the story just kept pulling me back in. Before I knew it I was almost done with the game and I was having a blast with it. I finally completed it and now I understand why all these critics are praising this game. You really have to devote your time to get into this game. It's not a game that you can pick up for 20 minutes at a time and enjoy it. I have never played a game with an amazing story like this. As much as I love this game it still has some downfalls. On my play through I encountered many bugs that ruined missions, and as some others have pointed out some missions are very linear and you cannot complete many missions how you want to. I would always try to run around the enemy to flank them, only to have my companions die or have the mission ended because I was too far from my companions or the area i was suppose to be in. The controls and the speed of the game do take some time to get use to. Before playing this game I completed The Legend of Zelda: BOTW for the second time, and have been playing a lot of BO4, so It was kind of hard to get into this game. At first it felt very slow and clunky but you get use to it. The positives of this game greatly outweigh the negatives, so do not worry too much about the negatives. This game is really something else and I am glad I gave it another chance. You really cannot go wrong by purchasing this game. Just remember it may take some time to get use to the pace of this game but it is well worth it. All in all this game is amazing!!… Expand

    This game is amazing. The graphics quality and the story are both amazing. You can talk to anyone at anytime. Rob places and people and basically do anything. I recommend this game to people 12+ who can handle violence. AMAZING GAME. EA Learn from the best.

    This game is VERY nice. I spent many hours on half of the story and then stopped to free roam on chapter 4. This is awesome. You can play how you want. The wildlife is rich and the off-story challenges are fun to complete. The game runs smoothly on my Xbox One X. I love the singleplayer part. Perfect in my eyes.

    One of the best games of all time. I'm about 40 hours into it and I've had no problems. Yes, at the beginning the controls can be a little bit confusing, but you can get used to it. It seems like this game takes advantage of the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro's additional horse power and it certainly looks amazing. There is a certain love that only Rockstar can put into their games and RDR2One of the best games of all time. I'm about 40 hours into it and I've had no problems. The graphics are some of the best I've ever seen in a video game with one of it not the greatest story ever written for a video game. the gameplay mechanics are nearly perfect and after hours and hours of playing RDR2 I just can't put it down. you could easily play 200 plus hours in story modeAll I can say is wow. After completing the full story and epilogue this game still blows me away.     I have yet to pick this game up, but i played it and its gorgeous. A game like this does not come out too often. Its not for people who are looking for combat, its more about the story, and the world building. Definitely recommend!

    I see a lot of complaints about the slow pace of this game and I feel obligated to say if you only like straightforward shallow games with little complexity and a fast pace, this game isn't for you. RDR2 is a game that is enjoyed best by fans of open world games with a plethora of interesting activities to occupy your time with. In my opinion its the little things that count and really get you immersed. The pace is slow but realistically so, its more immersive and realistic than most games and means that there isn't as much action.    … Expand

    The game can be quite slow at some parts, but in a game that's all about story and character development, it doesn't hinder the experience in any way. From my time playing, the only thing that does get a little tedious and repetitive is the sheer amount of collectable strands, and the time you have to commit to complete said strands. Whilst the collectables are quite varied, it's still not exactly fun the longer you're doing it but that's the only negative thing I have to say, and that alone isn't worth dropping a point over.

    Even though the game world is significantly smaller than Rockstar's latest release, GTA V, it doesn't feel like it because you're not driving around in 200mph hyper cars. However, this does mean that the world is incredibly detailed and you can find yourself just exploring for hours finding all kinds of interesting and strange things. This could be discovering houses containing interesting secrets, the skeletal remains of some creatures that lived long ago or simply just running into other NPC's out in the country with some of the hilarious random encounters. There are also, as with any Rockstar game, a ton of Easter Eggs for you to discover.

    Overall, I'd absolutely recommend this game to anyone, even if you haven't played the first Red Dead Redemption. This 2nd instalment is a prequel after all, so I'd recommend you play the first game after this one. That is of course if you are interested in the story. It is a true masterpiece of this generation and with the introduction of Red Dead Online soon, it can only get better.    … Expand

    Seriously one of the best games of the last 5 years. It is truly a visual masterpiece with a compelling story and a living, breathing world. Has a slow start but never feels like a grind. 10/10 would recommend .

I came in almost completely blind as I had barely seen any content within the game, along with the fact that I never played the first RDR. From what I had seen, however, I felt as if this would be a sort of "Western-style GTA." Once I got into it I realized that I was partly right, but there was so much more than just a different theme. The beginning wasn't too much of a bother as I am used to being patient with a game. On the other hand, I did enjoy being in the snow and navigating through the blizzard. I also liked the first train robbery a lot because, in GTA V, the trains were sort of just there, and I enjoy being able to do something with them now, especially with a good old-fashioned steam locomotive. I would talk more about the story, but I think I've said enough about that.

    I think one of the next best things would be the map and the scenery. The map is great. There's so much space for exploring and riding around with your horse, and standing on a tall hill, viewing the vast, detailed landscape all around is breathtaking, even on an Xbox One S. I love seeing the huge lightning bolts striking the ground with the huge roar of the thunder, especially when using headphones with Dolby Atmos.

    Overall, I think this is a great example of what a AAA title with years of work should look like. Even the overall ratings of this game show that it's worth the $60. I do agree with some users that they should make a PC-version as many people invest a good amount of money in a high-performance gaming computer (I even have an Alienware Aurora R7), but I think that they shouldn't rush it so the PC community can get the same great experience as the one on consoles. I'm extremely excited to see how Red Dead Online works out and how Rockstar will handle it with future updates and gameplay content. I can actually say that this turned out very well compared to other games stuck in development for around 8 years gaining a lot of hype near the release.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Most people would talk about the performance, sounds, gameplay, graphics. Those are all very well done and the world is beautiful and lively. But I want to talk about the story the narrative. The thing made me feel in love, but also broke my heart. You play Arthur Morgan, a 36 year old outlaw, member or the Van Der Linde gang. The story draws you in quickly with the emotions, the connections everyone has. You feel like they are a real family. Arthur, Dutch, Hosea, Sadie, Lenny, Hosea, Javier, Ms.Grimshaw, Karen, Pearson, Abigail, Jack, John, Swanson, and Micah. They all are a big part of the gang what one doesn't do another can. But I want to talk about Micah, the secret antagonist, from the start and to the end he is a jerk to Arthur. By the end you find out Micah is a rat and has been telling agent Milton everything. You also find out around chapter four or five that Author has tuberculous a disease that back then was most certainty a death sentence. So after hours upon hours you find out all you have been trying to do will be for nothing. Micah feeding Dutch lies driving him insane even more than he already is, You dying quickly and painfully, members of the gang dying, Late in the story Dutch leaves you to die. You manage to escape by Eagle Flies a character you meet saving you barley, but also losing his own life in the process. By the end John and Author have fixed their friendship, as it was rocky the whole game. But you are given a choice at one point to help John escape or go for the money. I helped John escape but after he gets away and you kill groups of Pinkertons that are after you Micah the rat, piece of garbage, filth, jumps on you from above and you get into a fist fight that ends with you being on the verge of death from being beat and the TB you were diagnosed with. You crawl towards one of Micah's guns that was thrown in the fight, but as you grab it Dutch shows and stops you. This is where you choices and how you played come in. If you played like an outlaw after some words, and pleading Dutch lets Micah shoot you in the head and kill you. The ending I got though was the honorable ending. Almost all the same happens except that Dutch ends up leaving and Micah does too because you are about to die anyway. You crawl with the last bit of energy you have and watch the sunrise as you begin to breath you last breaths and a sad song plays. Author passes away sadly. It broke my heart. A character I came to love like my own brother dies in front of me. I feel like I just lost a member of my family. Then the epilogue starts, The very long epilogue. You play as John a few years later trying to live a normal life. it sets up and lets you know how he got his ranch while tying up some lose ends left. By the end of it John marries Abigail, as built the ranch up with the help of Uncle, Sadie, and Charles (Another member of the gang I didn't list). But their was one last thing. Micah is still alive, you spend the very last mission with John, Charles, and Sadie going into the mountains to kill Micah and end everything. When you get there Charles gets shot, Sadie stabbed, and you as John the last one able to really keep going. You reach Micah, have a small shootout, but Sadie ends up stopping that but as you and Sadie both have guns pointed at Micah, Dutch comes out of the building, you have a small standoff where Dutch surprisingly shoots Micah in the stomach and you go into dead eye and get to shoot him as well, I personally put all 6 of my bullets into is head, one for Author, one of Mary, one for Lenny, one for Sean, one for Kirrean, and one of Hosea. With that their is a little more cutscene. Then you go home and the credits role then everything that has happened sets in and if you have any sort of emotion it feels good but hurts at the same time. As the credits role little scenes play letting you know were everyone who is still alive is, and also sets up the story for the first game. After putting well over 60 hours into this masterpiece of a game I want to thank Rockstar and everyone there for making it. I has quickly became my favorite game ever. 10 out of 10.… Expand

I will start right now and say that anyone complaining about pacing/being bored, is conditioned for brainless, fast paced shooters or arcade style games. Yes, RDR2 is meticulous, slow-paced, and very drawn out. But that works to the game's benefit. Don't go into this gameJust finished the entire story after taking just over 50 hours. Sit down and expect to immerse yourself in a world that's not a battle royale or team deathmatch (although I'm sure they're coming). The detail in this game is beyond impressive, and the landscape itself is absolutely breathtaking. I will agree it takes a bit to get going, but it's mostly just the intro tutorial, which I'd still prefer over most any other tutorial I've played through. The story is amazing as well. Arthur is a very compelling character, who I would put on a pedestal in the gaming world next to characters such as Master Chief and Lara Croft. I loved playing as him, more than I enjoyed playing as John in the first RDR. Overall, I had a blast playing through this game. I can't wait for online to release.     This game is visually amazing. I love how you can feel the change in environment as you travel the large open world of Red Dead. It focuses a lot on attention to detail, this may make things take a little longer to do but that just makes things feel more immersive and realistic. I’ve really enjoyed this game so far and can’t wait for the online.

    What hasn't been said about this game already? It is really fun and immersive. The gunplay keeps me wanting to pull out my revolver and rob the nearest train. The fighting in the game is fun and gives you the sense that you're apart of the fight. The game has a great soundtrack making me just want to stroll on my horse next to a river. Definitely a benchmark......take notes other devs.

To turn the auto aim makes the game more challenging but with it on it can progress you through the generous main story quickly . The animations are superb with a great depth to each character with random NPCs that seem to have a life of their own .     This game was a perfect 10. And then it got twice as good when started playing with headphones. All of those conversations... hunting by sound... map is superb. Scenery is damn pretty. Missions interesting. Animation... Justifies every one of those 70 euros. Cant wait pc release with higher framerate tho.

This has been the secret to success in the gaming world and Rockstar takes that 88 mile an hour fastball and delivers squarely into the seats. This is however a game of patience and perspective. If you operate at the speed of light, this isn’t for you. If you have a collapsed A button because you RESPAWN RESPAWN RESPAWN, don’t do it. But if you ever wondered what it might be like living in the Wild West then there is absolutely nothing out there that will get you closer. Assassins Creed Odyssey was a marvel to look at sailing acoss the sea watching the sun rise. Red Dead makes ACO look last gen in some aspects. In today’s age with gamers getting younger and younger and the progression of gaming steering further and further from immersion, Red Dead 2 cures what ails you. Slick gunplay, astonishing visuals, a moral meter that not only changes gameplay but rewards your efforts for it. Customization beyond any expectations that do more than cosmetically change your character scratch the itch for those needing to change it up depending on the situation. Gun customization that again, does more than just create shine. But deeper than all of that lies a story etched in stone. Yet another cast of characters forever etched in video game lore. And yet another GOTY title lurking on the horizon. Whether this game appeals to your needs or not you owe it to yourself to play a 10/10 title. Don’t be the guy that read reviews about its pace and stayed away. I promise you one thing, spend some time with this game and allow it to consume you. Let it flow through your gaming cortex like you would a COD cash grab and marvel at what Rockstar has done. If not for Rockstar alone, then for the industry itself. You would pay to go see Michael Jordan play for the Bulls if they came to town. You would pay to see Lebron James play front and center near you. Then why would you not pay witness to this years greatest game? There are titles scattered all across the gaming universe that went seemingly untouched but by a few (looking at you Dragons Dogma). Don’t let this be one. The world is full of sheep. Reviewers that put down Fortnite and expect to be chugging Mountain Dew while guns are blazing are not going to be happy. But again, and I mean no disrespect in saying so; comparing something like Fortnite to RD2 would be like comparing a Cadillac to a Kia. This is something more. This is something great. How many times does greatness show itself in today’s age. How many times can you afford to let it pass. You owe it to yourself to be part of something happening now. Stop following the scalp in front of you and take the pass to the left. Sit down, saddle up and blaze hell, or slightly less hell if you choose to do so. I promise you this, if you do not, you will stumble across a review months from now and that feeling? Yeah that’s the one. THAT feeling you get when you know you should have played it but Bobby and Suzy and Mark were too busy building ramps while shooting fireworks at 10 year olds and you just couldn’t pull away because......

    Anti Nike that. Don’t do it.

    Probably the best game i've ever played. This game has everything, reality, great story, one of the best graphics that i've ever witness with my Xbox one X. I've played 75 hours with this game, and i haven't finished it. I had a lot of years since i enjoyed a game so much. Thanks Rockstar, thanks Arthur Morgan. The experience that this game has given me is beyond measure

    This game is incredible, somehow on a day one xbox one the graphics are stunning with almost no fps drops. I have a few minor complaints about bugs and clunky controls, but they can very easily be adapted to. I was impressed

    Game is phenomenal hands down best game of 2018...

    This game is better than god of war

    Controls are easy to remember

    Extremely realistic (especially in 4kUHD)

    Cons: When i'm in St.Denis with a horse people walk right in front of me and report me for "assault"

The story is involving and you'll find yourself loving and hating with a passion the characters in it. The amount of details and true research put by R* is just overwhelming.     Good solid game but there are some stuff that needs to be answered. For example: The evil man.
    The controls needs some cranking but it is a nearly perfect wild west era game. IMO this game needs MORE GUNS and even MORE GUNS some answers to the questions and BAM. Rockstar created the perfect game.

    Red Dead Redemption 2 is the game of the year, no doubt.
    The graphics in the game are out of this world. Once you've played Red Dead Redemption 2, every other game will look like GTA III. The amount of detail put into everything (yes, literally everything) is superb.

    Red Dead Redemption 2 is not for everyone though. It requires patience. Lots of patience. For those who don't have that, well it will probably seem a bit tedious with all the horse riding. Red Dead Redemption 2 should only be played by those who can appreciate a realistic game. It is for those that aren't small minded. Most would find it boring and despise the realistic attributes of the game but the truth is the game is not made for them. It is made for those who can appreciate a great game.
    The music in this game is also superb. D'Angelo really mastered Arthurs theme.
    In conclusion, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the best game I have ever played in my entire life.

    This game is just incredible, it's a huge game with awesome graphics. After almost 30hrs of playing I still see things I've never seen before..The gameplay is very story-driven but it's still really fun and pleasant to play. The overall impression is just amazing, a game that will be remembered. A must-have for all console gamers.

    I like how the game completes the puzzle in the first game, by that, i mean how everything all connects, why everything went from point A, to point B(ya feel me). The game is very interactive in more ways then one, even if your riding on a horse all day, there is something that could happen, like getting robbed, giving money to blind men, or saving someone from a life threatening occurrence , and repaying later on, its good and very interactive( if you know what i mean)    … Expand

    Back in the day before the internet, a gaming company's reputation was everything. A game either worked out of the box or the company released shoddy code and they failed. Rockstar has returned to that philosophy in releasing a finished product out of the box.     The visuals are incredible, diverse and immersive. Gunfights are exhilarating and satisfying as expected. You can even drive trains if that's your thing. Throughout the game you will have to make choices that determine the man Arthur is. The game is spread out through 6 chapters. The intro mission in Chapter 1 combines strong visuals, voice acting, phenomenal music, and gameplay elements that you willRed Dead Redemption 2 is a "once in a generation" game. You get to learn about all members in the gang, you talk to them, sit around campfires with them, and go out on missions with them. The game has some of the most memorable quotes from all of video games, and some amazing dialogue between Arthur and characters throughout the game. Rockstar has also set the bar for open world games. Many games have advertised their open world as a "fully breathing and living world", but they failed on that promise. Rockstar has completely nailed that aspect of delivering a true open world. You are able to interact with every single NPC in the game, with the option of "greet" or "antagonize". Every npc responds differently both initially, and after you interact with them. Rockstar has added such elements as, if you kill an npc their family members could come hunt you down, and if you kill someone an npc can respond to the blood on your clothes. You can go to the barber, go fishing, rob a man, save a man's life, go have a time at the saloon, and so much more. The game does have some gameplay issues though. Player movement can feel a little clunky at times, meaning you don't feel as comfortable moving around. The cover system can mess up at times, and really screw you over in a gunfight. The core system felt a little tedious at times, but never really never bothered me because provisions (which are needed to refill your 3 cores: health, stamina and dead eye) are really accessible. While riding your horse, to fall off and get yanked by trees, rocks, and other things in the environment. Many parts of the game would feel boring since you are just riding your horse around, but I really liked it when you were riding with fellow gang members because of the conversations you would have. Onto the positives about gameplay. Dead Eye returns from RDR, which is the ability to slow down time and mark enemies to fire all at once, and it is bad***. Gunfights are fun and some of the Arthur's sarcasm during the gunfights are hilarious. While riding your horse, you have the ability to press either square or x to jump on to someone else's horse. The way you can explore the environment, whom you come across, what you come across (such as a KKK meeting) is amazing. Rockstar has implemented thousands of secrets into the game, many will probably never be found until after RDR3 comes out. The elements of storytelling Rockstar implemented in the dialogue is astonishing, especially their use of foreshadowing and irony. Since this is a prequel to Red Dead Redemption, they set the bar for how a prequel should be done. Unlike the X Men movies or the Star Wars prequels, every single thing in Red Dead Redemption makes sense now. Rockstar connected these two perfectly. The way you play as Arthur Morgan, the you do everything with him, the way you decide who he is, the way you follow him through his journey, Roger Clark's performance as Arthur, easily makes him one of the greatest protagonists in all of gaming. Clark's acting in some of these cutscenes is amazing, and without going into spoilers, you won't forget this game. this review can't do justice to how amazing this game is, all I can say is, get the game (after watching or playing the first one), take your time, and you won't regret it. Despite some flaws in the gameplay, Red Dead Redemption 2 was an amazing ride from start to finish and one that I wish I could play for the first time again.… Expand

    Everything's perfect! The only thing I would change is the controls, because you may want to press Y for example to mount your horse but instead grab a person (unarmed assault).

    I love Red Dead Redemption 2, but I wish there was less time spent traveling between locations. I wish the game was faster paced as well. The game looks stunning though. It does a good job at capturing that West feeling. I probably would have given this game a 9, but I'm giving this a 10 to potentially raise it's 7.4 user score.

    Wow... just wow. An outstanding game which I'm probably going to spend a lot more time on. I haven't had this fun in a video game since The Witcher 3. This game's only downside is the clunky movement but I really don't care when everything else is so good.

    Better than the original in every way and that's hard to believe, but true. So many things to do and an in depth story. John Marston has nothing on Arthur Morgan.

    There is nothing for me to hate about this game, it is dangerously immersive. The graphics are the best I have ever seen on the Xbox One X and they hold up to be way above average on the standard Xbox One. This game is like playing something from the future. It is based on hyper-realism, meaning that it will take you a while to ride to your destination if it is miles away, that's the point. The tiny details in the game all mount up to making the world around you feel alive. I'll list a few: Horses and NPCs don't respawn, there are no repeated character models. If one dies, it never comes back into the game. NPCs all have separate daily lives and friendship groups. (Youtube: Following NPCs around RDR2). Your horses balls shrink when its cold (yes there is a weather system with temperature that is location and time dependant). Bodies of animals and humans decompose over days. You need to eat, drink and wash. Your facial and head hair actually grows over time and you can keep it trimmed if you want to. If your hat gets shot off, there will be a bullet hole where it hit it for the rest of the game unless you buy a new one. You need to clean and maintain your guns to keep them shooting accurately. You have to feed and bond with your horse for it to fully trust and listen to you like in real life. New horses have to be broken in to be ridable like in real life. You carry guns realistically, not hiding them up inside your ass like in GTA. There is so much in this, it would be difficult to list them all. What i love even more, I have completed the game after about 120 hours and there is STILL loads of content that I didn't know about.

    Conversations feel real, the story and voice acting is fantastic, the characters leave you feeling like they are actually in your life. There are moments where you forget you are playing a game. Honestly, If this was based around first-person then this would be dangerously immersive and I love that.

    If you take gaming a bit too seriously like I do and want to get immersed inside a new world, then this is the best money you will ever spend.    … Expand

It seems like GTA 4/EFLC all over again with great characters, great storylines, and just over-all greatness! It is just as good, if not better than the initial Read Dead Redemption! I am a major history fan and I LOVE the American Wild West atmosphere both here and in the original RDR!     This game is a damn masterpiece. Sure, there are a few flaws, like the slow and clunky animations, but the story, gameplay, and horse mechanics are some of the best I’ve had ever experienced in a game ever. This game is seriously worth every penny of the $60 price.

    Начну сразу с минусов игры:
    1. В игре ужасно сделана система укрытий, очень неудобно    РДР 2 это взрослая игра, создана не для фана. Читая отзывы, я понимаю что негатив исходит от игроков в основном из-за отсутствия фановости в игре, ну или же от злых ПК-игроков. Да, безусловно в этой игре есть минусы, но нельзя забывать что мы сравниваем с другими играми, которые так же стоят 60 баксов.
    Начну сразу с минусов игры:
    1. В игре ужасно сделана система укрытий, очень неудобно прятаться, персонаж постоянно как-то не так станет, не в ту сторону повернуться, тебя постоянно со всех углов обстреливают, ибо твои части тела выглядывают из какого то ни было камня или дерева.
    2. Все очень затянуто, тут есть доля правды, Артур делает все ооооочень и ооооочень медленно, например: нельзя бегать по лагерю, перед заданиями долго спускается с лошади, медленно подходит, постоянно медленные анимации с едой, с взаимодействием лошади и так везде и повсюду. По началу это увлекательно и интересно, но когда ты это делаешь в сотый раз, уже хочется бросить геймпад и уснуть. Я так понял, что игру умышлено затягивают, нет, серьезно, такое ощущение, что делаться все для большего количества часов в ней.
    3. Я не понимаю как всем понравилась музыка в этой игре, нет, она не плоха, но она в основном скучна, есть интересные моменты, но их мало. В том же Ведьмаке было это реализовано ой как хорошо.
    4. Перемещение. Я не считаю отсутствия привычного нам ФТ такой уж проблемой, мне наоборот это нравилось, очень атмосферно. НО. Из-за отсутствия той же нормальной музыки, каких-то уникальных локаций (тут я имею в виду, что в 90-та процентов случаях локации одни и те же, Роудс-Валентайн-Сен Дени и тп, конечно бывают очень красивые места в горах, но их мало!!!) скачка очень утомляет. В Скайриме, я уверен, благодаря своему музыкальному сопровождению, мне путешествовалось куда интересней.
    5. В РДР 2 очень корявое управление, кучу всего, куда надо нажимать, все медленно, игра не всегда реагирует на тапы, иногда что бы дать денюжку нуждающемуся надо стать на определенное место и только тогда можно будет это сделать.
    6. На фоне Артура остальные меркнут, нет такого что ты переживаешь за всю свою банду, что беспокоиться о них, я лично прокачивал лагерь из-за переизбытка денег. Ну да, я расстроился из-за смерти Шона, хотя через 30 минут и забыл вовсе, на Хозию и Ленни было плевать. Эмоции вызывал только Датч. Ну такое, можно было персонажей лучше проработать, я даже не помню как всех звать.
    На этом все, во всем остальном игра просто чудесна. Действительно РДР 2, по сравнению с другими играми за те же 60 баксов, выше на десяток голов, не передать словами на сколько чудесны все эти часы в игре. Я не буду писать про +, она ИДЕАЛЬНА во всем остальном. Так что, к ознакомлению обязательно.    … Expand

    RDR2 is a gem. Although there are so many things to do on the side and a fully-developed multiplayer to dive into, I keep falling back to the main storyline because it's just so good. It is without a doubt the most fun I've had in a video game in years.

    It doesn’t matter if you are gamer, a human being, or an alien from another planet; Red Dead Redemption 2 is a title that you just can’t miss. The bar set by RDR2 is so high that even Rockstar itself will probably have a hard time raising it. One of the best releases in the history of digital entertainment.

    While it has some notable but minor flaws, it's hard to argue that Red Dead Redemption 2 is not a masterpiece. The end result of the meticulous detail, wonderful writing and stunning looks is an open world that sets a new bar for believability, and a time and place I can't stop thinking about or wanting to be a part of.
