It’s an amazing game with good story and graphics. Honestly played this game a total of three times just to get different endings and complete it 100%. It’s very realistic and fun to play. The soundtrack is beautiful. Recommend this game 100%

The game itself plays similar to the original, with an enormous, unfolding open-world map. There is so much to do in Red Dead 2 that you can extend the 60 hour completion time to easily 80 hours or more.
Where this particular game perhaps impresses most though is in its deeply involving, heart-filled story that lives with you long after the last bullet is fired.
    And with Red Dead Online

Probably one of the best open-world games I've played, and with some of the most well-written and well-realized characters to exist in a game of this size. People here seem to be divisive about the linear story, but I prefer it so every story beat can maximize an intended impact as opposed to letting the player "get the good ending." Although it's an RPG, I think it's a telling sign that they crafted Arthur as the protagonist, rather than having you create your own character. You do have control over whether Arthur is a good person or a jerk but the overarching and heartbreakingly inevitable story is more akin to a season of television. The RPG elements are more catered to exploration and progression rather than control over the story. It makes the world, the characters, and every interaction feel spontaneous and lived in. The open-world made the game immersive, but it was the compelling story that kept me caring enough to continue playing.

My biggest gripe is the controls haven't really improved since the last game. The cover system is clunky and honestly worthless, and I didn't enjoy how much slower the movement feels compared to the first. The game compensates with a plethora of options for weapon and horse management, though I think stowing the rifles on the horse ended up more of an annoyance than a commitment to realism.

I also felt that the narrative was just a little too long, both the main story and the epilogue that follows. I understand the need to give players their money's worth, but I felt that the amount of side activities and exploration was more than enough to give the players 40+ hours of gameplay. While the story itself never really dropped in quality, I think a sense of impatience grew stronger because of how it cycles the same gameplay, shootout after shootout. There's a great sense of escalation to the main story, but the final chapters tend to drag out the same point. Similarly, it's a joy to discover how expansive the epilogue is, but it feels 4 hours too long and softens the narrative catharsis that had just happened moments before.

Still an amazing game even if it kind of overstayed its welcome. It's an improvement over all the other Rockstar games for the most part, and I'll still be playing even after all the missions are done.

Enjoyable gameplay and amazing graphics, combined with phenomenal voice acting... definitely worth checking out. The story is compelling, although the invincibility of certain characters (given they appeared in the original) definitely killed the tension in some parts of the story, but overall an amazing game.

The game has 200 + hours of content and a very long amazing story in which you play as arthur who is part of a gang of gunslingers and folks who are escaping from a massacre in BlackWater. The story is more interesting to look at when you are analyzing the characters as almost all the characters are 3 dimensional and they arent made for arthur to progress throughout their game, they have their own backstory, behaviour and interactions etc.. Throughout the game, you engage in convos and missions as arthur and learn more about him and learn some activities such as fishing, hunting, fighting etc. The story is a masterpiece. But the gameplay is very slow and movement of arthur feels heavy as the game is very realistic. Looting bodies and items take time( Basically Witcher, skyrim with long 5 - 10 seconds animations) its fun at first, but the realism gets frustrating after a couple of hours. The controls in this game are way too complex and it pissed me off sometimes as you can lose honor if you press the wrong button and accidently 'disturb the peace'. The horse riding gets more boring after some time( There is a fast travel system but you have to unlock it by purchasing from camp ledger). But apart from that, the game's detail is amazing and no other game can beat this game for now. For eg: if you don't attack a grizzly bear, it doesn't attack you back. Horse testicles(famous detail in the game) shrink and loosen depending on temperature, The mud on your body after falling on a puddle dries off faster at hotter temperature. The game is overall incredible, other reviewers are complaining about how you get no freedom and even i am disappointed with that but its rockstar, so you have to deal with linear story. I hope they gives more freedom with their next title because that would be much better and i hope they give different endings and storylines for different choices rather than one ending with slightly different changes. Like I said, you should definitely buy the game if you want a highly detailed game with amazing story. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A game with this many high points should not exist, but RDR2 kills it every time. The first time playing through the whole game can be a bit annoying but if you go back after understanding all the major plot points, you grow a better appreciation for the game. Rockstar has created a fantastic open world with so much detail and realism. The characters at your camp all feel like real people and the story is incredibly gripping with its pacing and tone. the gameplay is my only complaint because for most of it you the player are not doing anything. The horse steers itself, the game aims the gun for you and the 5th chapter is a low point in the whole game. However, even with those small flaws, RDR2 is fantastic just on a story and technical level. This is one of the best stories ever written in a game. Expand

I love the characters they all feel like real people. The best parts of the game are just hanging around the camp and seeing the gang interact with each other. Also, I truly loved the soundtrack. This game is fantastic but it just has too many flaws to be called a masterpiece. For example, the combat system is just too simple I only died 5 times during my whole playthrough. There are many ammo types yet they serve no purpose because the weakest ammo type could kill an enemy with one shot to the head and believe me it's this easy I went through the whole game getting headshots like I was robocop. Furthermore, the weapon variety is lacking in this game. Moreover, I hated the horse controls tapping A for two hours is not a great gaming experience in my opinion. I hated how linear the missions were the game gives you no room to do what you want and that destroys the replayability of the game. Furthermore, once you have lots of money you have nothing to spend it on. RDR2 excels at making stories with great characters and amazing villains yet most of the missions are just following this guy to this place and then killing 50 guys. RDR2 gives you one the best sandboxes in gaming but the missions are the most linear garbage I have ever seen it reminds me of call of duty campanes. I truly hope rockstar will do better with their next game but for now, we will make do with this flawed masterpiece. I recommend this game to every OpenWorld enjoyer. However, if you hate open-world games this game will not win you over. Expand

The best part of this game is that there is so much to do. You can choose to run through the main missions or embark on the many challenges and achievements . The graphics are incredible and the map is huge. There are many things to find and plunder on the map. There might be something valuable in every structure. A hidden cubby hole might have $100 worth of stuff in it. Early in Chapter 2 I had explored and plundered about every corner of the map. I was careful to loot every dead body. Occasionally that caused me to lose missions but my wallet was always fat. Arthur's stuff was all pimped out.
When you complete the main story line there are still things to do. Bounties, achievements, legendary animals if you haven't collected them. The first game's map enables in the Epilogue. I don't know what's on it yet. Some people criticized activities that are not mandatory.
Clothing? Didn't bother with it. Gaming? I consider the games stupid and tedious. Treasure-hunting? It's not as easy as in the first game. I got tired of falling to my death and went to Youtube.
A big negative is lack of fast-travel options and fast-travel to self-marked vicinity as in the first game. Travel was limited to named destinations.
Also, path-finding issues and other technical glitches. Characters getting stuck forced abandonment of missions. Charles won't put the body in the wagon and just stands there, etc. Rains Fall knocks Charles off his horse so you lose the mission, etc. Because Charles won't re-mount. Control/button issues where the option won't function. Often you have to jiggle stuff and move around to get buttons to function and game play to proceed. That wasn't just occasional-that was prevalent. One time I got Charles unstuck by running into him. You can accidentally bump some one with your horse in town and suddenly have the entire town shooting at you. And then owe a bounty if you escape. It interrupts what you're trying to do. You will spend a lot on bounties in this game unless you want a constant price on your head.
You can lose missions in a hundred different ways. Some times by following confusing or untimely AI instructions. I found that it was important not to mess with the controls until dialogue finished because it could cause a problem. Some times you can skip useless dialogue. Too often they won't allow it. Cut-aways can interfere with the flow of the action.
Right at the end of the main story the audio started acting up. Sounds like hoofbeats and the whistle disappeared. Segments of dialogue became inaudible. This continued in the Epilogue.
The gun play seemed to be clumsier than the first game and the Dead Eye less accurate. Dead eye marking was definitely made harder. Annoying to shoot people in the head at close range and having them get up again. Or when some one survives being shot in the middle of the chest or back with a high-powered rifle. I think it was taking 5 shots with the Mauser to drop some people.
The AI characters really are stupid and easy to kill if you take your time. The only thing they have in their favor is surprise. Your character will always have superior firepower. If you were any good with your shooting in the first game killing your opponents in this game will be a piece of cake. Perhaps too easy.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to 2010s red dead redemption where you play as Arthur Morgan, part of Dutches gang…
If you’ve played the first red dead you know things go sour, so Red Dead Redemption 2 sets out to tell that story…
Much like the first red dead, red dead redemption 2 sets out to immerse you with not only its environment and storytelling but its mechanincs as well.. much like a team ico game..
everything seems tedious, but its on purpose… the game wants you to feel completely in control at all times.. and its one of the things I love most about the red dead series,, you have to manually tap a button to gallop and go faster for example, you have to take care of your horse to increase its stats, it sets out to place you into another world, another time period.. youre essentially living another life away from your own… Red Dead Redemption feels that real…
This tedium is also this games downfall…
I loved both red dead redemption and red dead 2… however Red Dead Redemption 2 is nowhere near as enjoyable for me as the first… though they feel like vastly different games…
Red Dead 2 isnt about exciting events taking place, no cinnmeatic moments, you feel like a member of the gang, contributing, doing jobs and collecting cash to upgrade around camp…
and everything about this game is mythotical and slow, theres no fast travel in the way modern games have spoiled us with… you have to ride from place to place, take in this games world, run into its inhabitants and predators, thankfully this game is gorgeous at times, but I feel all the hype around how good this game looks is a little out of proportion…
infact I feel most of red dead redemption 2 is generally overrated…
but back to being slow… this is red dead 2s greatest asset and greatest flaw…
for the first 20 out of 60hrs of this games campaign, I loved the slow pace living life as a cowboy… but I felt the story and game just drug on forever.. exciting things rarely happening… never really having fun…
red dead redemption just isn’t a fun game…
and that’s okay.. it’s a different kind of experience… again.. back to the point of wanting you to feel like youre living another life, that’s what I felt.. I was immersed into this world…
but by the games final chapter I was just so bored, so uninterested on how anything turned out other than arthurs story…
I just wish the campaign was fast and fun like the first games campaign… while everything around it stayed a little slower..
just everything began to feel pretadictable, too samey… don’t get me wrong there are great moments throughout your 60 hour journey… but so much of it feels like needless padding, and things ive already done a thousand times… making me ultimately feel like the game over stays its welcome with the story…
everything this campaign set out to achieve couldve been done in under 20 hours easily…
there was no reason to drag it out other than a selling point of a long campaign that youll probably get too bored to even see through to the end…
if somehow youre still craving red dead redemption after that 60 hours there is an online mode currently in beta, but I just wasn’t interested in doing more of the same with a silent protagonist with my friends online…. Sure I don’t have friends, but that’s not the point…
the campaign itself had a hard enough time keeping my interest..
that said I actually Love Red Read Redemption 2…
I was just over it before it was over…
Youll get your moneys worth here… but youll probably end up searching for the ending on youtube.
I give Red Dead Redemption 2
    an 8.5/10

Red dead redemption 2 não trouxe nada de inovação, é objetivamente o GTA com uma engine melhorada em uma nova ambientação, e ouso dizer que alguns aspectos ainda parecem inferiores.
    É um jogo sem alma, rockstar não foi tão criativa para desenvolver idéias novas para esse título, não tem um desenvolvimento bom na história e sem sistemas que evoluem durante a jogatina, é o mesmo do início ao fim, a justificativa disso, claro, é a falta de liberdade criativa pela proposta da ambientação escolhida;
    >época tediosa, jogo tedioso.
''Por que devo continuar?'' eu me pegava o tempo toda fazendo essa pergunta. Como eu não joguei o primeiro, a história pouco me importava e as motivações de conquistas não existiam, tanto em game, tanto fora dele com os sistemas da Xbox live.

The world is so alive in this game. This is truly an open world game worthy of the title. You have agency in this game. You can interact with someone, leave, show up a week or so later and see observable changes in the town because of your interference.

The dialogue is fantastic, the voice acting is fantastic. The shooting is sub par and the inclusion of the bullet time mechanic

The dialogue is fantastic, the voice acting is fantastic. The shooting is sub par and the inclusion of the bullet time mechanic alleviates this somewhat.

It can be slow at times. Very slow. Even as someone who enjoys dialogue and horse riding and beautiful scenery it gets a little old. There's a reason most games skip travel sequences - because they're often not memorable or meaningful.

There's something for everybody in this game. I'd definitely pick it up but I wouldn't trust the 10/10 reviews. It's far from a perfect game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an exceptional example of modern video game design, but it is also far from the infallible masterpiece many claim it to be. Several nagging issues detract from what is otherwise a great game.

To start, I want to say that this game has a target audience. Rockstar has not tried to "cast the widest net" with RDR2. If you find much of your gaming time filled with fast-paced, hectic, reflex-based games like CoD, Battlefield, PUBG, Fortnite, Assassin's Creed, Fallout, Spider-Man, God of War, or Overwatch, then it is unlikely that you will find much enjoyment in RDR2. Likewise, if you think the game will be "GTA V, But Cowboys" then you are in for a quite disappointing revelation. The gameplay is slow, weighty, and methodical. It will take you a *minimum* of 10 minutes to cross from one side of the map to the other. There is no easily accessible fast-travel mechanic. If your preferred gameplay is "press A to attack, press B to block" simplicity and zero-gravity, weightless characters that walk faster than Usain Bolt sprints, you are better off spending your money elsewhere.

With that out of the way, I'll do my best to dig into what RDR2 is at its core. You can't merely categorize this game as a third-person shooter, an adventure, an RPG, or even simply an action game. It's not even necessarily a mix of those genres, but a unique beast. Personally, I consider the game to be a "Narrative Driven Sandbox" of sorts. The story is undoubtedly paramount and always present, but it isn't something that bars your path to content. While story progress does unlock new items and weapons, you can also find these same items in the world through side-quests and exploration. The majority of the map is entirely open for you to explore as soon as you finish the scripted intro sequence, minus a few areas (more on that later).

The gameplay itself is, for the most part, satisfying and enjoyable. Gunplay is heavy and punchy, with a focus on realism (Pull RT once to fire, Pull RT again to cock the hammer, repeat) that blends into the action fairly seamlessly. Arthur feels like he has some weight to him as he moves, like a human being walking across a room rather than a figure skater gliding on ice.

Visually, the game is stunning, even on my OG launch Xbox One. Every aspect from the wind blowing through the grass on the prairie to snow drifts being broken up as a horse passes through is well designed and executed. Facial animations are some of the best I've seen in recent years. And all of this graphical beauty has little effect on performance. Aside from a few cutscenes and more "urban" areas, my framerate held constant with only minor dips in the aforementioned circumstances.

Unfortunately, the game struggles in most other departments. For me, the pacing was the biggest issue. The game's opening is *agonizingly* slow paced. It feels like a chore to get through the first quarter of the game. From there, things pick up nicely, and the pace is almost on the verge of being "good" through the midgame. Unfortunately, as the game reaches its final few acts, the story's pace slows to a dragging crawl once again. By the last few missions, I found myself simply rushing through, asking myself "So, this is the last one right? It feels like the last one." only to be surprised (dismayed?) at the new yellow quest marker appearing on my map. The Epilogue was no better, equally slow and poorly paced. While the writing itself was quite good, it was irreparably hurt by the weak story direction and drag-on chapters.

The game's AI is also severely lackluster. While it is better than GTA V's to a degree, you will always have the upper hand in any conflict. Enemies rarely seek cover, rifle-wielding bandits/lawmen charge into close range instead of taking distance shots, and they will often shoot at your cover until their weapons run dry, giving you ample time to peek out and dispatch them at your leisure. Pedestrian AI is equally poor, mainly the AI responsible for wagons and horsemen. I can't count the times I've been thrown from my hose due to an NPC veering in front of me as I was about to pass by.

And lastly, the endgame is very disappointing as well. Without spoiling too much, after the story you are still permitted to roam the map and do side quests, with a few changes. I don't care for these changes, but that's just preference. The problem is that the previously inaccessible portion of the map is now "unlocked" to explore. Unfortunately, it's pretty much empty. There is quite literally nothing to do. Perhaps this will be fleshed out with Red Dead Online, but right now it's simply a waste of map and Hard Drive space.

And that's RDR2 for you. Despite these flaws, it is still worth a playthrough if it sounds like your cup of tea. A good game, and one I certainly recommend, but far from a perfect game and indeed no masterpiece. My rating would be 7.6/10 (rounded to 8 due to site limitations)

The soundtrack had that old western movie vibes to it and the cinematography makes it looks like an award-winning movie.

All that I love is good, but the game do suffer some flaws. While playing the game, some sections on the game gets a bit buggy at some parts. I don't mind long games because the world of RDR2 is huge and there are plenty areas to explore, but despite how long the game is, it can get a little boring doing some things over and over again. During missions, there are marks in the game that tells you where to go and it has boundaries. I wish they can give us a non-linear missions where you can do whatever you want to craft your experience instead of linearly scripted missions where you have to follow what the game tells you to do and you fail f you mess it up. That's probably the main issue have with this: Big environment world to explore yet you have to follow the game how it tells you to play.

Overall, it is a great game to play but it can sometimes turn you off at some point. I originally gave this game a 10/10, but after realizing some mistakes while playing the game, I'll give it 8/10

As a Rockstar Gamer since GTA2, I have played every one. Each one has made graphical and gameplay enhancements since its last addition. While RDR2 does have an amazing graphic quality on Console, it does have its flaws. The gameplay is stretched when you are riding around on a horse. It is not an instant gratification game, it does take a person who can immerse themselves to truely enjoy this game. There are clipping bugs and collision bugs when riding around in cinematic view. The gunplay is a little clunky and that is due to the auto aim. The camera views make it very difficult to play free aim with no assist. The characters and NPCS in world notice what you do and react to what you do. This is a blessing and a curse. It forces you to try to play the hero, when maybe you would just like to play full bandit. When full bandit and your meter is red, shop owners will and can refuse to sell to you. This is something that needs to be worked out, but values your choices and path you take. The cutscenes and story is something of a blessing. New gamers hate it, as they only want multiplayer. Older gamers praise it, as we know that multiplayer has dominated gaming. The age of a fully developed game sold for $60 with an amazing story and minimal bugs are over. But RDR2 and Rockstar have done their best to go back to that nostalgia. Overall the game is not without its issues, but is one of the best games of the generation.

The main story is Great if somewhat marred by what anyone who played RDR1 knows about how that game ends. (Dutch's personality change and degradation is some of the best writing and acting in a Rockstar game)

Music is fantastic often catching the mood perfectly

Combat is harder and has an annoying suppression affect that has your aim shake all over the place making it a roll of the dice as weather or not you land a hit.

The horse is an idiot, many time I've crashed into a tree but only 1 out of 10 of the times I've crashed into a tree has it been my fault as I have noticed the horse actually resists my commands so for example I see a tree/rock and want to turn left to go around it, only for the game to try and force me to continue straight resisting my turn left input and crashing into the tree/rock

NPCs are far too impatient, how many times I've go up to a camp and been threatened with guns pointed at just for passing by while I was hunting or while riding through town and a quick pace how many NPC shout at me as if I had just made the them dive out the way when really I avoided them perfectly.

Side mission and random events make the world feel alive, and the level of detail is impressive going back to find all the hundreds of Easter eggs really adds to the world.

One of RDR2's baggiest failings is the lack of explanation, I like many was lead to believe that RDR2 was going to have a great deal of freedom of choice, this means when a random event occurs and some women tries to kill me in town and I kill her first in defence I'm the one who gets shot at and chased by the Law for murder.

The Online is pay to win, as in completive games your character can use whatever weapons you have and ammo types and if you can afford to keep spamming miracle tonics then you are going to own the other player because you can pay the real world money to buy this stuff in game

Overall this game has its bugs floating/invisible objects, texture issues on the to cool Scout Jacket and more, and with its annoying combat mechanics and horse controls and unclear options where you try to do good but get a bounty instead for your efforts, I have to give the game a solid 8/10 and not the exaggerating 10/10 IGN gave the game.

One of the greatest, most emotional single player expereinces I've felt in a long time. A perfect blend between action and story. Only downside is the rough experience with online that I'm just going to ignore didn't even happen.

I'm divided between the gameplay and the story.
The gameplay is outdated, it's similar to GTA 4 and 5's gameplay, and GTA 4 came out in 2008
However the story and the characters are superbly written. Aolid top, tier game but just about there

I love Rockstar games, but they seriously need to figure out their controls. Since GTA III controls have been **** with a slight improvement.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has something for everyone. The main story is beautifully crafted, and never seem boring. Sure, you can do regular cowboy things, rob trains, get in bar fights, do whatever you want. But in my opinion, some of the best parts of the game is making your own fun up in the mountains, fishing and hunting. Red Dead allows me to fufill my dreams of being a god damn mountain man. Just for that, the game deserves a score of 9 o 10. However, the storyline is too long for my liking, so after having put tenths of hours into the game, I was starting to wish it get to the end of the game. On the other hand, the amount of collectibles in the game is also insane, and many of the game achievements depend on finding those, something I find extremely boring, so this lowers a bit the score. On the other hand, despite its incredible story, it is a serious and kind-of sad one, something which, in my opinion, always makes a game less fun. Expand

The gameplay flows very well, although I was surprised by the new targeting system that takes a short time to fire weapons accurately (probably to balance RDO).
But the game ended up disappointing me in some points like the lack of content in a part of the map (New Austin) and the terrible state that RDO is at the moment.

It is an unfortunate thing that Rockstar one of the most prolific game developers that bring us such amazing experiences give little love to the pc community. I love Red Dead and put hundreds of hours into it and more on the remaster before Red Dead 2 but this is unacceptable. Why is it that the pc is an after thought that developers just throw crap at a wall and hope it sticks? The pc is what gave Rockstar it's billions of dollars from online and mod communities yet they give so little of a f$#% that it hurts their well earned reputation. Red Dead 2 is an amazing well built story with compelling characters and story beats that keep you committed and engaged throughout it's lengthy campaign. This is one of the most engrossing and beautiful experiences I have had on my Xbox one X but the pc version is a hot garbage fire that is unacceptable. You are made by your customers and destroyed by the same people who once held you in such high esteem. The years of love and childhood fond memories can only last so long before you start to get torn out of the past by just how greedy and disrespectful these devs have treated this community. There is noaccident that CDProject Red is held so high as the gold standard of how to treat your community and give them what you want yourself from a game. Once you put money above fun, exciting stories and strip single player dlc out for some boring "community" mods and games as a service nonsense you deserve everything said about you and seeing so many who loved you starting to leave. You make games for the love and enjoyment it gives you and everyone who interacts with it's world. People give their time, attention, and hard earned dollars for a product when there are so many games that they do not have to support or give you that valuable commodity. Step back and really think about how this affects your company and make a decision money or enjoyable enthralling stories that change the industry because you are almost a shell of the once great Rockstar. So i think the single-player is a must play for anyone and especially for people like me who played RDR1 before. BUT Red Dead Online is just terrible. It's boring even with friends because the game hates to reward you for playing. There's alot of grinding to get ANYTHING, and the DLC for example actual semi-fun stuff like jobs cost gold which is of course terrible microtransactions, this is pretty much identical as GTA Online but I think even more focused on leaving your wallet dry. And you have to ride on horseback constantly so much that it's painful because fast travel costs in-game money which you don't get a lot of. Still, this game is worth the price just for the single player story alone. Recommend for sure. Expand

Visually, this game is superb and the story is much better than most other Rockstar games. However, this game doesn’t offer much freedom and the online stinks.

As an open-world game, Red Dead Redemption 2 falls short in many ways. As a relatively linear narrative-driven game, it is incredible. One of the most visually stunning games I have ever seen as well.

It doesn’t matter if you are gamer, a human being, or an alien from another planet; Red Dead Redemption 2 is a title that you just can’t miss. The bar set by RDR2 is so high that even Rockstar itself will probably have a hard time raising it. One of the best releases in the history of digital entertainment.

While it has some notable but minor flaws, it's hard to argue that Red Dead Redemption 2 is not a masterpiece. The end result of the meticulous detail, wonderful writing and stunning looks is an open world that sets a new bar for believability, and a time and place I can't stop thinking about or wanting to be a part of.
