No surprises here. If you're in the market for an NFL game in 2016, look no further. [Nov 2016, p.79]

Madden NFL 17 is a quality Madden game. It does a lot of things right, and fixes most of the major shortcomings of previous editions. If you’ve lapsed in the series or just want to know if you should grab this year’s game, go forward knowing that you will get a lot of mileage from it. It’s good. At the same time, however, it is still absolutely a Madden game, and in the 12th year of EA’s exclusivity deal with the NFL it’s hard not to pine for a little competition. Sunrise, sunset.

NFL 17 builds off of the base that we've seen established over the last couple of years, for better or worse.

One of the worst games I've ever played in any genre.

So many issues with this game. It's unbelievable how people consistently support it and constantly overlook all the awful things about the game.

This game is the epitome of style over substance. Even on quick presentation, the game drags with all its constant and unforgiving popups. Having a problem switching defenders before the play is called? That's because you're not allowed to do it until the popup that blocks the screen showing your "Slot Receiver" concludes.

And I bet you thought it was just a problem with your controller or you weren't doing it right. Try it out. It's absolutely the popup.

I've had to force close the game about ten times in 24 hours (or about 4 hours of actual play time) because the game freezes when loading certain settings. Trying to save? Good luck. That's when it freezes the most.

The game forces you to watch things you just dont care about. I want to get into my next play, not watch two members of the opposite team talk to each other. That's what choosing "quick presentation" should be for.

With everyone praising the physics of the game, I find it laughable that people become rag dolls on tackles and look as if they should be breaking their legs being constantly bent backwards, or at least have some major ACL/MCL tears. Praise all you want, but they look ridiculous.

The menus are just painful to navigate through. The lag going from one menu to the next is just painful. This has to be the worst menu system, both functionally and because of lag, of any game or app or program I've ever seen.

It's amazing this game has so many fans. I'm truly dumbfounded.

This game is the perfect answer to the question "Why would we ever need competition?"

Very good game, much improved from last year. The swat button is very useful and makes the aggressive catch much less useful. The running gameVery good game, much improved from last year. The swat button is very useful and makes the aggressive catch much less useful. The running game is much more realistic and the tackling is much more fun. The AI is miles ahead of Madden 16. The zones are also better and makes the game much more realistic. The kicking is cool, but at the same time is really hard, so it takes time getting used to it. Lastly, the o-line and d-line interactions are unchanged from last year and aren't really realistic. In conclusion, I think this game is definitely worth the upgrade and it also "feels" very different from last year. Full Review »

I played this game early through EA Access. I thoroughly enjoyed the 10 hours I received. Player animations were much more realistic. The runI played this game early through EA Access. I thoroughly enjoyed the 10 hours I received. Player animations were much more realistic. The run game has received much needed attention. Defense is actually playable again. The aggressive catch has been tuned way down. The only reason I gave this a 9 is that Ultimate Team still feels like a money grab. Great game overall. Full Review »
