Anyone who has not had the pleasure of encountering THQ Nordic's current intellectual property on their path is strongly advised to purchase it without reserve.
I spent about thirty hours in the game, but at the time it took me more than a hundred to finish the game on PC: it is certainly a long-lived title that allows you to have fun for a long time.

THQ seemingly did everything right with this re release. They didnt call it a "Remaster or Remake" to manage expectations, They didnt charge full price. Modern gaming consumers man!, its just a cycle of outrage instigated on You Tube Spreed to the Audience then to Twitter and back to another You
Tube video, just a cycle of people looking to create or be out raged, This is why we cant have nice things.
This re release was made for consoles the PC game all ways looked good because games scale with PC hardware, so you wont see much difference. On PS3 and 360 this game was 720p at 30FPS, you can now play it at true 4K 60 fps on the 1X and 1440p 60FPS on PS4 pro and 1080P 60 FPS on base consoles, this is a massive upgrade, IF you cant understand those number than you wont understand just how amazing they are.
Yes the art and assets are the same, thankfully because the character models in the original game are more attractive than the character models in modern games made today, thanks to political pandering. Yes the animation looks dated but this isnt a full priced release and re animating 1000s of characters would have made the project way to costly to risk.
Its meant as a performance upgrade so modern console gamers can experience this amazing game. After the cry baby reception that the game has received for not completely over hauling everything, and them not spending 500 m on this risky project dont expect many more of histories hidden gems to be brought to the new platforms. Its just to much of a risk with today's entitled modern You Tuber community and their hungry for out rage audience.

One of the better remasters of an already very good game. The original was great (played on PC and 360) and this doesn't change much other than a few tweaks. So everything about the original still applies here. Didn't really notice any graphical upgrades but the game was cartoony anyway so it wouldn't matter.

So everything about the original still applies here. Didn't really notice any graphical upgrades but the game was cartoony anyway so it wouldn't matter.

The game has the same bugs as before though. When you pause the game it seems to apply a dark filter on the graphics. If you keep doing that enough then it becomes permanent such that the whole game is too dark (but not the menus). It did this in the original as well. That problem still exists but restarting solves it. There are also more graphical issues than I remember. Watching certain characters run through a cavern and they will fly through some chambers. During combat I had enemies get knocked through scenery into inaccessible areas like rocks or mountains. In some cases it was easier to just move on but in a couple of quests where you have to kill them then it became annoying. I had only 1 CTD the entire time which is better than many modern games I'm playing.

I'm hoping the success of this remaster is enough to encourage a new game in the series that sticks with the things that made this one good. Not sure how I feel about the next DLC coming out as I've already maxed out everything so there is little to add but we'll see.

I played on Hard difficulty, something I never do, to get an achievement and I have to say it was easier than a lot of games. Dodging is the key to combat and only a few enemies required a little work. The bosses were rather easy even on Hard. After I got the achievement I switched to Easy so I could run through the rest of the game and it was a cake walk. So this isn't a game for those who like difficulty, it is just a fun, easy game to get lost in.

To the people who say the Xbox 360 version looks the same, I say you have not played that version for a while. 4K/60 FPS makes this feel like a much better version of the original game. The combat makes this one of the most "fun" RPGs I have played in some time. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because the Day 1 patch came out on Day 2 so I lost 3 1/2 hours of game play playing on Day 1 ( I deleted my saves because they are not compatible with new patch). Besides this snag, I am glad I picked this game up and I am having a lot of fun with it. Expand

THQ should have wait till the game was finished to let that game out. Currently It's a cash grab. Played 29hours, get hit by dissapearing bug, Cynric Carrier crash bug, Adessa Armory bug just to name those few. Look that up. When they will patch it, it's gonna be playable. As now i'm trapped. So in my view, too many games get out completly bugged these days and that's thief. Really gamesTHQ should have wait till the game was finished to let that game out. Currently It's a cash grab. Would loves to go back to Playstation 2 times, when games were finished on release.

Re-Review: The patch 1.05 have patched every problem I had in the games as so, now it's a masterpiece that could have used a bit more love!

Imagine Diablo but in the Fable engine. If you were digging the RPG's that were being churned out during the 360/PS3 era, then this is your thing. I guess I never played it back in the day so that's why I like it so much? People say the remake isn't modern enough, but I don't know anything about that. It's just fun - the combat is a treat, there's all kinda loot if that's your thing, the areas are pretty, if rather simplistic (this is where the Diablo vibe comes in - the maps are all pretty much just alcoves populated by monsters), and it's easy to jump around the map knocking off all the various story, faction, and side quests. The UI could use a few updates that could have eliminated a number of excessive button-presses for certain tasks, but it's workable. Overall: I got an itch for this sort of thing, and Re-Reckoning scratched it oh, so well. Expand

I was a huge fan of the original, so was excited to get this version in to review. I had read comments saying there was a lot of issues with it at launch so delayed my review a bit before playing it. I jumped into it about 2 weeks after release. I kind of worried about that knowing this game can take up to 100 hours to complete., but I was having some back issues so had plenty of down time so decided to go at it non-stop. I had no issues with it getting the late start so they must have ironed them out quickly. I only played about 50 to 60 hours, because i wanted to get this in quick. I had played the original and DLCs so i figured that be enough time to give a honest impression. I can honestly say I enjoyed it as much as the original, and i can really see why or why not you’d make this upgrade. It looks a little better, nothing drastic I don’t think. They cleaned up the first one they didn’t completely redo like some remasters. They left everything you loved about the original, keeping the original source as close to the one you know and love. So if your a huge fan and wanted a upgrade I can see spending the 39.99 easy. Like I said 100 hours so you are gonna be getting your value back no question. The way this game is set up you can play it over and over as well. There is just so much content, and gameplay variations that make this game one of those you can buy if you don’t buy a lot of games or only get for gifts, and play it all year. If you are new to it it can seem a little dated especially if you have been playing Witcher or something like that. To explain it really has a first fable type vibe to it. So if you enjoy RPGs of that period of time I can see you loving this.

Your character customization from the start really just shows how in depth this game is going to be. There are so many options of appearance but also skills. You can literally play this in so many different ways, and it never feel the same. Like you can upgrade different character types, and have different moves and magics. Same goes with the weapons for these classes. You can have a ton of different weapons from light and heavy swords to Staffs, bows, daggers, and so much more. You can even mix these type of classes up and try different ones. You get a primary and secondary weapon spot so can try two different ones at once. You decide you don’t like your choices you can change the styles and weapons at any time. So your choices in this game seem limitless. The same goes for story choices, there are so many different ways to go along your journey. Join certain factions, help different people, just do the main missions it’s up to you. The options and game’s map is enormous. You will be entertained for hours and hours. I probably spent hours just managing my inventory, deciding what to use and sell. If I didn’t get games like I do and wanted something that made me feel like I got my money’s worth I’d with out a doubt would grab this.

Let’s talk about how it looks and sounds for a bit. I think it’s a improvement over the original’s look, but I don’t think it’s a huge improvement. It’s not a difference that is mind blowing, but it’s enough to feel like you are playing it on a new console. If you enjoyed how the original looks I think it really keeps that original detail and design. I love all the different monster and enemy types, they all vary so much. It will make you approach with caution to learn their different attacks, or element damage they can do to you. Like some can give you diseases or curses, or have fire or electricity. You have to pay attention, and sometimes use different weapons or armors in areas. There are different skill levels though if you struggle, you can play it on easier levels. So it is for all skill of players in my opinion. I loved the sounds and music as well very melancholy and fitting of the time period. Like I said it really has that original Fable feel and setting. If you loved it or Oblivion I can see you really enjoying this as well.

I can’t wait to finish up this review and go play it some more. I’ll have to reinstall it though, because I had to delete it to actually make myself go and do this review. I just couldn’t stop playing it. It is one of those worlds you just get lost in. Such amazing enemies, NPCs, and stories that just keep you glued to the television. The world is just so easy to travel, and fun to explore. Loaded with so many secrets and loot to find. I found myself just wanting to check around every corner for a chest to lock pick, or cave to explore. It’s really an addictive experience., and I’m so glad I got to step back into this lovely game. Playing it over refreshed me on so many classic moments, and new ones since I didn’t have the DLCs on the original. I heard they may even do some new DLC, I can only hope. So if you love RPGs like I do. I highly recommend you checking this one out. Especially if you never experienced it last Gen.

I wish there were more games like this. Developers these days only seem to care about graphics and not a whole lot more, this game has a nice story, amazing combat and interesting locations to explore. Can't recommend it enought for lovers of RPG's.
It was and still is an amazing game.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is the story of marketable talent crafting a competent—if flawed—RPG in 2012; Re-Reckoning is that same story hastily repackaged in 2020 and resold at an overinflated price point.

Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning brings you back to a magical world. The game has been polished to bring it to 2020. This succeeded for the better part of it. The game looks good overall but here and there the aging is still visible pretty clearly. For 40 euros you still get a hell of a RPG with more than 40 hours of story, all of the DLC and next to that a lot of side missions, tons of weapons and more. Also, there is a new DLC on it's way for the game slated in 2021. That makes this more than worth the buy.
