After disliking the direction the story took in 4, I put off playing 5 for the longest time... but finally I tried it. It's actually quite good! The story is much better than in 4, the only big negative for me is the lack of a co-op feature, for which I had to take 3 points off because as a long-time Halo fan, the co-op campaign was very important to me.

The game itself is a platform without more, quite fast, with the typical story of light VS darkness.

And now, looking at Halo 5, I can say with confidence that this is the best Hailo in terms of gameplay, and that the series is in good hands.
Many thanks to 343 Industries for being able to keep that high bar set by Bungee and bring a lot to the series.

Other than Nathan Fillion, none of the new spartans are interesting or worth your attention. The story was average at best, the best parts being the Chief parts. That said as always the Multiplayer section (which is what saves this review) is as good multiplayer as Halo has seen if not the best. The new Warzone mode is GREAT coop fun (they added some vs to it later) and all the other MP is great. The fact that there is no paying for new maps or season pass is also a plus. The update to 4k 60fps later is also a plus. This is a really good game for any other franchise but for halo, its just ok. Still, its pretty cheap now so give it a chance if you can. Expand

The multiplayer has gone through so many updates, and though I’m not a fan of the new abilities and super high tech lookin stuff, it is so satisfying getting a kill, it makes this “badink” noise when you get a headshot kill and it feels great. The best playlist is still the halo three throwback one, which is basically taking all the goofy stuff from halo five, and it makes a game that lives up to the bungie games multiplayer. Also arbor customization is it horrible, Halo reach is better though. You have to play games earn points and buy packs to get a chance of unlocking a permanent weapon skin or armor unlock. Overall this game had a rough start along with MCC, but both games have redeemed them selves over the years. Now they are to the best first person shooters on this generation of consoles.

I don't quite remember the last time a game disappointed me this badly. Look, I've enjoyed the "Halo" series thus far. I've given each of the first 4 games at least an 8/10 on my scale ("Halo 3" even earned a 10/10 from me), and I even enjoyed "Halo 4" quite a bit, even though a lot of the fanbase doesn't. I've given each of the first 4 games at least an 8/10 on my scale ("Halo 3" even earned a 10/10 from me), and I even enjoyed "Halo 4" quite a bit, even though a lot of the fanbase doesn't. So, even though I heard many mixed opinions about "Halo 5: Guardians" before playing it, I was nevertheless excited to give it a go...but wow, was it a disappointment. I didn't want to give it this low a score, and I even sat on this for a few days, but seriously, this game disappointed me hard.
Now, that's not to say the game does absolutely nothing right, because trust me, it does some things right. For starters, as per "Halo" tradition, the aesthetic elements are sharp. The visuals are great, the voice acting is strong, and the music is your typical "Halo" stuff. Beyond that, the gunplay in the game has been changed up a good bit: though controversial, the ability to aim down sights and the addition of the run button tightens things up a bit and feels like a welcome addition.
However, even that is something I can criticize, because to be completely honest, the addition of those features make the game, to me, feel like just your typical bog-standard FPS title. They're decent additions, but they're not all that special, and the fact that the campaign adds multiplayer-like elements that even occur when you're in single player (like asking teammates to revive you and "joining/exiting a game") just feels totally awkward. But I know what you're thinking: I'm probably giving this game a low score because of how insulting the story is and because of the false advertising and anti-climactic nature of it all. And sure, those are definitely problems, and I was rather pissed that Chief was only playable for a short portion of the game, but honestly, the story wasn't even the part of the game that insulted me the most: it was the gameplay! This was honestly the most "hands-off" "Halo" game that I've played: there's sections of the game where I don't even need to kill enemies, I can just blow right through them by running and jumping! Wasn't the point of the previous games to kill the enemies so that you can advance forward in the game? Now I don't have to even kill most of them? What kinda game design is that? And speaking of game design, this game has 15 missions (so yeah, pretty short). Why is it that some of those missions only require you to talk to someone, talk to another person, and then move to the next mission? Those shouldn't count as their own missions! That just sounds like some cheesy way to artificially bloat out the game's length! Oh, but don't worry, all those sections where they made you keep your guns down, run through enemies, and do nothing at all are offset by bosses that are overpowered, completely generic, and often times recycled. I felt while playing this that, whatever "gaming intelligence" I had (and I don't even think I have very much), was honestly insulted by this game.
I didn't think I would dislike "Halo 5: Guardians" this much, but yikes, this one was bad. I honestly can't recommend it unless you're one of the most die-hard of "Halo" fans and you just HAVE to experience it. Unless you need your "Halo" fix, or you're like me and wanted to play the games before "Halo Infinite" releases next year, I can't in good conscience tell you that this game is worth your time. Just skip it and find other enticing shooters, because there are plenty of them out there.

It´s the worst Halo. If you are not a hardcore fan, maybe you will enjoy it. The campaign has a terrible story, with characters that are not developed, and it destroys the awesome story H4 accomplished. The gameplay is generic, taking off what makes Halo unique, level design is ridiculous linear, killing the sandbox. The only merits are the graphics.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game completely detached itself from it's past games. It's story is terribly written and they attempted to write out it's main character to introduce another. 343i seemed to think that it's player base wouldn't care for lack of Chief, but it did. 3 missions with Chief and 12 with Locke, Soo much fun. The game also had one of the best marketing scheme's out there to hype the game and get players ready.... Too bad that fell hard on it's face and wasted hours of players times. None of the marketing comes into play, even Hunt the Truth. The multiplayer was ok, though the overall first impression showed that Microsoft wants back in the Mlg Scene and that completely ruined the mp on launch for me. The poster child of “Souless Corporate Games”, Halo 5 is one of the saddest falls from grace I have ever had the misfortune to witness.
Technically functional but devoid of all personality, heart, and soul that made the original trilogy such a massive success. Halo 5 is what happens when a publisher prioritizes HOW and game plays over, and at the expense, of everything else in the title.

Visual wise it’s an absolute mess. It’s hard to tell enemy ranks apart, and sometimes even different enemy species apart. Most of the vehicles and armor look like they were designed for the 14 year old Mountain Dew guzzler demographic while completely smashing established lore and canon.
I guess the point I’m dancing around is that this just doesn’t FEEL like a Halo game; it’s lost everything that made it different and special, all of it replaced with a generic and predictable plot filled with bland and unlikable characters.
Had this game been made with something other than a Halo skin slapped over the top of it I would probably have enjoyed it a lot more, but as it stands it’s frankly an insult to the previous trilogy of games.
If they could somehow combine the story and lore of Halo 3 with the mechanics of Halo 5 it would be the best Halo game ever made, hands down.
Sadly, however, Microsoft and 343 made all of the wrong choices when it came to Halo 5.

The campaign is absolutely terrible. The characters are bland, the writing is boring and most of the story doesn't even feature Master Chief, the main character of the halo franchise. Apart from this lack of splitscreen co-op removes one major element of Halo that fans adore. Another problem is the lootbox system which bases multiplayer progression solely on luck and not skill. You need to unlock REQ packs(loot boxes) to get access to armor, assassinations, poses, and most importantly warzone requisitions such as weapons and vehicles that you can use in a game of Warzone. Despite the microtransactions the new forge and custom games system is mostly decent, with the only exception being the removal of map voting which takes away the player's ability to choose what maps they can play on. I would suggest this despite it's flaws as it is still a solid game and 343 has clearly learned from their blunders. Expand

HOWEVER, whereas Halo 4 had an excellent story, Halo 5 tends to stumble, relying heavily on outside source material that most other than the most devoted Halo fans will be familiar with.

Other than the storytelling hiccups though, the game play is much better than past if not the most tightly tuned yet with an emphasis on speedy maneuvers (you feel like a spartan soldier actually). The level design is also greatly improved compared to Halo 4's boxy campaign sections, giving you a greater reliance on these new tweaks.

The multiplayer is also the best the series has ever been, going back to that Arena style battles that we have all grown accustomed to with past Halos while injecting new life with all the new game play additions.

Halo 5 is a great addition to the franchise with it's new emphasis on game play and overhauled multiplayer collection. Although it does stumble in the storytelling department and odd omission of split screen, we can forgive these minor gripes in the long run due to a strong showing in most other departments of the game...

    No recomendado.

At launch, I would have said this game was around a 5. Now, with all the gamemodes added, it goes up to an 8 out of 10. This is because even with the MP improvements, the art style, gameplay, and story don't intrigue me much. Gameplay is subjective so I won't get into too detail about that because people's opinions will differ, but I think it is great, the best since Halo 3. The art style is not interesting, but I am okay w/ the customization now. I would give this a 7, but i feel like I would be a little too rude, as i would be disrespecting the effort 343 has put in the game since. But I can't give it any higher, especially with the stupid microtransactions it has. Even then, reviews are subjective and be hating the game for no reason would be like beating a dead horse or being too damn blind to figure out what a 2 out of 10 game is. The story is literally a dead horse and I won't beat on it, because everyone knows it sucks. 343 disappointed in many ways with this entry and I won't be surprised if Halo: Infinite will be a disaster filled with microtransactions, but they have improved it a lot. During writing this i had it at a 5 but then i remembered the spectacular multi player which easily saves the game and the best part about it is a surprise so i will not spoil it here. It just seems like they're just trying to milk the licence as much as they can now without thinking about the fan base. if they actually made a great game people wouldn't mind the micro transactions as much. if you're going to make a half made game and make the focus of the game its multiplayer mode even tho the franchise is known for its amazing story and lore not to mention its amazing gameplay. You're not benefiting your own company or the fan base surrounding it. Take your time even if you need to keep pushing the release dates forward, do not bring out a game that isnt ready, if you think this game was finished and this is what they had or have in mind for future halo titles.

I give this game an 8 for the multiplayer alone. The story is horrible. I'll get that out the way right now. I could go in to detail as to why, but as a big-time Halo fan since CE, just take my word for it. It focuses too much on Locke, and not enough on Chief. But the multiplayer, however, is a different story. Since Halo 2 I have not had this much fun in matchmaking. People who claim to be Halo purists will complain about the "Spartan abilities." But in a big time fan's opinion, they fit in perfectly. In today's day and age, the classic style of combat in Halo wouldn't work any more other than for nostalgia. I wouldn't mind having a "classic physics mode", or something, but I think the abilities very much have their place and are a welcome change. The gunplay is still very much classic Halo, and the abilities add a much faster pace to the game. Even though the game is much quicker, the game still has core Halo mechanics. Shields, grenades, and spawns all work nearly the same as any other Halo, and each map still has specific power weapon spawns as well as classic weapons such as a Halo 2 BR and a CE magnum. I think the game is still worth playing even though there is no split screen. If you are looking to get back into competitive Halo, this one is definitely worth a buy.

The campaign is absolutely terrible. It tries and fails at every turn. Part of that is due to the misleading market. Honestly 343, what the hell happened? Now the multiplayer is a little conflicted. 343 tried a little too hard to be competitive and as a result we lost a lot of casual fun. Instead of armor abilities, every player has dash, spartan charge, and ground pound, which makes for a more fast paced game-play. Game modes like Warzone were very experimental and fun but 343 decided to monetize the weapon sandbox for it. Forge was incredible. 343 really outdid themselves. It was easily the best forge we've ever gotten in a Halo game, also THANK YOU 343 FOR ADDING A CUSTOM GAME BROWSER!!! The maps and gun-play are pretty dang good and 60 fps game-play makes for some fast paced fun, but it just doesnt feel like Halo to me. Also theater is an absolute joke. So many glitches in the theater I'll probably never use it. Overall the campaign is trash, the multiplayer is fun, and I WOULD give this game a 7/10. But there is something keeping me from doing that. 343 did something that pissed me off so much I have to give this a 6.5/10. They removed split-screen co-op. A feature that had been in every Halo game before it and is one of my favorite things about the franchise. The ability to play with your friends on the same xbox and on the same TV was gone, all so they could sell more xbox's and charge you for xbox live. Thankfully 343 listen to the outrage and Halo Infinite is going to have split-screen. Overall grade: 6.5/10. Expand

I'll share my ideas going in depth of what must be made in Halo 6 to fix Halo 5's story:

    ▪ Important things have to be shown in cutscenes and not told from characters as exposition (flashbacks and flashforwards do exist you know! How the hell did Cortana turn evil?) ▪ In general: characters who have conflicts in the story have to get a juicy background to ensure fights deliver
I'll share my ideas going in depth of what must be made in Halo 6 to fix Halo 5's story:

    ▪ Important things have to be shown in cutscenes and not told from characters as exposition (flashbacks and flashforwards do exist you know! How the hell did Cortana turn evil?)
    ▪ In general: characters who have conflicts in the story have to get a juicy background to ensure fights deliver struggle.
    ▪ All the characters: not enough interaction through each other. The dialogue is pretty bad: most of it was just useless banter and rarely did any character say anything of actual importance that gave us an insight into their character. These characters are irrelevant to the story: Vale, Tanaka, Buck (although he adds fun lines), Fred, Linda, Kelly, the Arbiter (he's there to get Sanghelios free from the Covenant, but that doesn't have anything to do with the story ), the Covenant (what are they up to in the first mission? - they're on their last stronghold on Sunaion just to justify the Arbiter presence in the game), Prometheans and Warden (they're there just to be shot, they spawn a little time before a Guardian awakens and start killing people), Meridian people (I can't see why I should care about them), Lasky+Palmer are there just because the Infinity is the Osiris ship.
    ▪ Blue Team (Fred, Kelly and Linda): Characters have to be introduced IN THE GAME, I just played another Halo chronological marathon to try understand Halo 5 only with the information held in the games - because playing the games without reading the expanded material is what most of the fans do - but it is actually impossible. I know who they are and I love them because I read "Fall of Reach" but a fan who didn't read it doesn't know anything about their awesomeness and will never love them as me!
    ▪ Vale and Tanaka: you need to show more of them, why did they decide to become spartans? What are their motivations? We just know Vale knows a lot about Elites and Tanaka is a technician, nothing more.
    ▪ Jul'mdama: What was he doing in the 1st mission? What should players know about him if they didn'play Spartan Ops? what about the Janus Key?
    ▪ Locke: he's been introduced in "Nightfall" (I saw it), he had to be introduced in the game, and his fighting and stealth skills too! In Nightfall we can see he is an ONI agent who is sent in the most dangerous missions but in Halo 5 he looks empty, he rarely talks to the other characters (as almost every character) so you can't learn anything about him or his relationship with the other characters, and in every fight Osiris just runs into enemies! Is that really how a stealth ONI assassin would lead his Spartan team? How are we supposed to get connected with him that way? The only characters who work well if they almost never speak are the Rookie and Noble 6 because you don't see their face, so you "Imagine to be them", so whereas Locke is intended to be a character with huge background he's not a good character if his motivations and abilities are not shown in the game.
    ▪ Guardians: we know from Cortana's exposition that the Guardians are very powerful Forerunner constructs that were used by them to rule the galaxy, but we never see their power! The game is called "Halo 5: Guardians" and we see just one of them EMPing a planet at the end of the game, nothing more...
    ▪ The Warden Eternal: as the Guardians there is not enough shown of his story, we know from what he says that he's the protector of the Domain, and he serves Cortana because she's now in control of it. How did Cortana and the Warden meet? What is the Warden story during the Forerunner era? Did he know the Didact?

    ▪ The Arbiter: everything about him changed (in my language that is italian they also had to change his dubber because the previous one died... but the new one doesn't resemble him in any way… the only good thing is the armor because it hides his wrong jaws. Then is behaviour is also a lot more aggressive than Halo 2/3 and he screams a lot!
    ▪ Halsey: did she want revenge against UNSC and ONI or am I wrong?
    ▪ Lasky and Palmer: they are Captain and Commander, but they actually don't command anyone... and there is not much of them that helps the player caring about them
    ▪ Roland: he's actually in the story because of what?
    ▪ Exuberant: only good new character, she serves the "Guardians builders" (I don't know their name in english, in italian they are "i Costruttori") and her installation is Genesis, that is the planet where Guardians are built. It is enough for her because she isn't in conflict with anyone in the story.
    ▪ Buck: he's ok, but he has no influence in the story.
    ▪ Chief: after Halo 4 I though we would see more emotions from him... he turned from a static to a dynamic character in Halo 4, and in Halo 5 he just "goes awhole" and tries to take her home.
    ▪ Cortana: Died at the end of H4 and she just reappeared OP and wants to rule the universe. WTF happened?

It's one of those games that will still have players on the servers 25 years from now, and with good reason. This is the most skill-demanding triple-A shooter in more than 25 years, and every kill and victory feels legitimately well-earned, unlike the brainless copy-pasted COD-style shooters. However, this game doesn't sacrifice marketability for seamlessness. The game has become mirror-sheened in post production with the additions of Warzone and the like, and the Forge creates a deeper linking with the community within the game. The customization is inconsequential, but nice, and lies between enough req packs to require a dedicated experience. A competitive circuit adds more depth to the game, as you feel more recognized when accomplishing high standings in classics like Slayer, as well as the mind-bogglingly addictive Breakout. For more casual players, Infection and Super Fiesta are brilliant modes that are executed on a scale unattainable by the Source modders. This game is the reason Halo should exist, and it honestly is the current magnum opus of the series, as it doesn't rely on nostalgia and "then state-of-the-art" gameplay. Easily within the top 5 FPS games in history. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a honest train wreck. Its good if you need some xbox one bloat ware. As its only now has been balanced and finalized. After 9+GB's of space for updates. Yes updates and also yes there is a micro transaction system. Which is fitting as the company that funded this trash is Micro-Soft.

There are so many improvements that could have been made.

    The issues are :

    -Cliff Hanger ending
    -Poorly executed cut-sceen choreography
    -A story reduced to filler.
    -still lack of split screen.
    - Depreciated by about 50%
-Takes up a estimated 87 GB of Hard drive space.
-Requires a 720p or higher definition to look good.
-Also the World Record for speed running the game on easy is close to about an hour and the legendary speed run is about only an 1 hr and half. Only about 20-30 minutes longer.(Falling short of 343i's promise. Of the game being longer than Halo 2.) To break it down a decent FPS gamer should beat the game on easy or normal in 3-4 hours. Heroric or legendary maybe a little longer.

The single player campaign, which typically gives Halo an edge over the competition, has fallen extremely short of the mark. It is poorly written to a degree that would shame a lazy, entitled sixth-year business major taking a last-minute creative writing course to fulfil his/her last humanities credit. Its reliance on lore is nice for some, but could have been a bonus / enhancement instead of a crutch. The AI is so bad, aside from being a lifeline in Legendary difficulty, that at this point the 4-man squad characters are there simply to be a drain, a clutter, and a cliché. Finally, because of the lack of quality creative design, the antagonist and setup for Halo 6 defiles what could have been a poetic end to a beloved character and writes the next team of creators into a corner from which they will be hardpressed to expressively work their way out of.

Good luck fixing this dumpster fire (more like a landfill fire) - you're going to need it, 343.

Average video game that falls extremely short for a game of the Halo franchise. Poor and lack-luster campaign, a completely different and poorly executed multiplayer, and heavily implemented microtransactions plague this games rating. Launch barely had any content. Most "Free DLC" maps are made by the community or are blatant reskins of old or already-existing maps.

There are some fun times to be had in the Warzone Mode, and if I can ever finish game with a positive k/d, I'm sure I could come to love it. New players be warned, after more than two years of the Halo community honing their skills, you will be cannon fodder.

My primary gripe with Halo 5 is the campaign. Replaying the campaign solo or in co-op was a major part of the Halo experience. Halo 3 was the high water mark of the campaign, and Halo fans like me would replay just to hear the different voice lines. Halo 5 starts off badly by removing split-screen co-op. You can play co-op with buddies on-line, but this far after release that is not realistic. Playing co-op with my son at home is be a no-brainer, if 343 hadn't screwed up so badly. The campaign itself is a mediocre sprinkling of enemies and weapons between point A and point B. There is none of the pacing and fun moments that set Halo apart from other games. With the weakening of the Spartans' shields, you might as well be playing a re-skinned Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The campaign is further hurt by the decision to sideline Master Chief in favor of a new protagonist, the terrible voice acting of the new protagonist, and the cut scenes that show you moments that are much more exciting than anything you play in the game.

The multi-player is a mixed bag. It's nice to have Big Team Battle back and the 24 player Warzone is a nice idea. However, I find myself having trouble with the shooting after 3 years of Destiny. You know Destiny. It's that Bungie game with the great gameplay and terrible story. Bungie used to make Halo and I remember when Halo had great gameplay that just felt good. I feel like 343 made the gameplay worse to increase the skill gap, i.e. to make multi-player more competitive and less casual friendly. I have 3 months of Xbox Live Gold left, and that might be enough time to adjust.

Fair warning to anyone with internet in 'Murica, the game is an outlandish 100GB download. I am now one tenth of the way toward my monthly cap. I cannot see how the game is so big when the graphics are so ordinary. Some of the canyons on the Elite home world look nice, but most of the textures are smooth metal and glass that show you how much worse the art department is at 343 compared to Bungie. Maybe I've been spoiled by the likes of Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Star Wars: Battlefront. As a showpiece for the power of the Xbox One, Halo 5 is a total failure.

I want to end this review on a positive note. The Forge mode looks fantastic and the Forge maps section has more maps than I could ever hope to play. If you can wrangle the friends to play this 2 year old game, I think you could have more fun goofing around on custom Forge maps than you would have in any competitive shooter.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I got late into Halo, and I think it's (still) the best FPS franchise by far.
It has the best weapon sandbox, with lots of really distinct, satisfying and useful weapons. The choice of your loadout or which power weapon to choose is constantly adapting to your skill and match conditions.
It has a perfect learning curve, where there's always something more to learn and achieve, and where's there's room for both new and old players - sometimes even in the same game (in warzone casual players can help the team A LOT by chasing AI if provided with some instructions, while more experienced players can do base and enemy control). Plus the campaign can serve as a fantastic training ground, as it's big, enjoyable in coop and can be approached in many ways.
It has the best support and economy model by far. All new maps and modes are free, and the map editor allows the community cooperate with the dev team in providing to everyone new maps every week. The range of multiplayer activities is staggering - and it's amazing we can still find quickly players close to our level in matchmaking in most modes 2 years after launch. How was this financed? With a 'loot card' system which is generous (you get packs very frequently without paying), and provides a mix of cosmetic items and satisfying "going wide" options which do not affect most of the game modes and even in warzone they don't offer significant advantage. Knowing that a lot of the requisition pack income goes to the esport rewards makes us paying for them out of goodwill, never out of necessity.
Technically, it has solid 60fps under any conditions (very few other games achieve that). Plus the 4k update is really elevating the experience. The art direction is really unique and sets the game apart.
While there are missteps in the story delivery (it was really hard for me to understand what's happening when I started with Halo 5), it's the only FPS in which we genuinely care what will happen next and I genuinely care about multiple sides of the conflict, as they have their reasons. (spoilers: ) What will happen with Professor Anders and the Guardian, and how will the AI revolt evolve?
Most importantly, Halo from the first to the last game understands it's a game and prioritises gameplay over everything. No frustrating blurry camouflaged snipers, no tons of similar historically semi-accurate weapons you cannot distinguish one from another when in the hands of your enemy. A wide palette and wide imagination make it primarily a colourful sport.
The movement, while debated by purists, strikes a perfect balance into being fast & smart but elevating instead of cancelling map knowledge. Dash-dodging and Spartan charging are tense tactical options, each with its own risks. That said, I would remove a couple of options to make the game a bit more accessible and to leave room for new additions (assassinations, for example, while cool, don't add anything tactical to the game and that's why you never see them in high level play). The radar is tactical but not overpowered, most of the action is what you see in the main screen, not the radar mini-game.
The lack of split screen keeps it short of a 10, but 343 promised it for the next instalment.

The single player campaign is an awful nonsensical story that's completely forgettable. That's all that could be said about that portion but it's so much worse: Boring AI squadmates and shifting perspectives to uninteresting personalities are really what kill it. Halo 2 did this well and made it work because the Arbiter was an interesting character. The sangheli were an interesting race. And the Covenant is an interesting faction. Locke offers absolutely NONE of that so why force him down our throats? Start a spin off with Locke if you want to tell his story so bad. People play the SP campaign of Halo to play as Master Chief and have him interact with crazy alien objects in exotic locales. Unfortunately that's only a small portion of the campaign here.

The multiplayer has several exploits that make it frustrating. Some items and weapons are way overpowered. Requisition/lootboxes add a pay to win aspect that just makes it no fun especially since they keep adding more and more common/uncommon items making it even harder to unlock the rarer ones. So people can just pay hand over fist and keep unlocking overpowered weapons and items. Even the way the permanent unlocks work makes you suffer. I had to unlock like 100 different assault rifles and battle rifles that barely vary at all before I unlocked something I was excited to use. And the UI for scrolling through these items? AWFUL. There's 100 items but only five at a time fit on the screen. Are you kidding me? Christ.

I don't mind the visual changes on the Covenant, as long as they act the way they've always acted nobody would have a problem. Well that's pretty much all of the positive i can think of, so now onto the negatives, oh boy.

First of all, playing the campaign on Legendary is ridiculous, not for the difficulty, but the AI on your side. Countless times i watch as the AI stand there still as a statue while my timer slides to 0, this was probably the most infuriating Halo campaign i have ever played. Don't get me started on the Warden Eternal, the fact that you have to fight him 7 times easily knocks this game down 2 points. The Prometheans are not fun to fight in my opinion, they're just simply annoying and unsatisfying to kill. The campaign was not that bad until the first Warden Eternal, after this point it is a chore to do the rest of the missions.

Onto the multiplayer, a few seconds into the game i was stumbled by the fact that i can't choose my classes, why? After playing a few matches i switched onto BTB, and holy mother of god, i was disappointed beyond belief, the maps were horrid. They weren't fun, they looked terrible graphically, the maps felt like tech demos. So many players to my belief just want to be able to switch to the DMR and lay waste to the enemy team, but to their disappointment upon playing matches, they can't use them!
(unless you find one set in the maps)

Another huge thing that ticks me right off is the fact that they removed the gear unlock system and replaced it with a random crate system, almost like every new shooter now. When you see another players completely decked out in cool armor, they just simply were lucky, and the players know that. In past Halo's when a player saw a armor combo that they liked, they had the motivation to get it because the player knew if they worked hard to get the items they were guaranteed to get them. In Halo 5 you just hope luck is in you favor to get the cool armor, the motivation is slowed to a stop when you level up earning crates that get you the armor you didn't want.

Now onto split screen, oh wait, the game does not have split screen, remember, this is Halo we're talking about.

Moving on to forge, they truly made forge incredibly complicated. There should be options to set if you want a thousand different building parts or just wanted simple prefabs like Halo Reach. As a fan of forge i love the many additional features that were added, being able to add scripts, better snapping locks, etc. But i cannot wrap my head around why the walls/roofs/floors look so damn bad, i don't want my maps to look like tech demos made of Lego.

Well that is it, i felt like dumping a huge load somewhere on the internet to let out my disappointment, i may be wrong a few things here, i am just going on what i know.

While this new approach to a Halo game is respectful, I and many others believe this game lacks the drive and ' the want to continue ' from the original trilogy. The game shows that it has had much work put into it but it lacks pacing a halo game needs, this game makes you feel sleek and fast rather than tanky, slow and grainy.

This impact leaves you feeling like you're a naked human in a gunfight rather than the classic man of chaos conveyed in the original three games.
The art style is very messy as it negatively effects the graphical impacts of terrain, leaving it to be very blocky gray experience and at points of the campaign my nearby friend thought I was playing on a forge map.
The story was very shocking as I couldnt believe the classic Halo campaign had been turned into a sloppy underdeveloped campagn with some new spartans i've never heard of and didnt in the slightest care about, but my worst gripe is that the developer has created one of the worst plots i've ever seen and whats worse is that its ireversable.
Many say the multiplayer is fantastic but my view on it is that it's so average, it could be mistaken as any space shooter and isn't nearly as close as being as good as multiplayers in games such as OverWatch or Battlefield.
I am a fan of Halo but this game is totally disapointing and I haven't scratched the surface.

Halo 5: Guardians is okay. Its campaign is rubbish, but the multiplayer is solid thanks to the foundation it’s built upon. Warzone is a really enjoyable experience, and while combat is still mostly about tossing grenades and hitting the melee button, the whole Requisition gimmick adds some much-needed flavor to proceedings.

The latest Halo is a big deal only for hardcore Halo fans. For me the single player campaign was unbearably pompous and despite 1080p and 60 fps the visuals are not as breathtaking as they once were in Halo 4. The game builds a solid foundation for Halo 6, but it’s not one of those games you absolutely have to play. [13/2015, p.48]

With a more accessible and engaging story and solid new designs for the Prometheans, Halo 5 is a major improvement over Halo 4. Warzone is a great addition to the multiplayer, though the mode seems to have some game balance issues. [Nov 2015]
