I have NO idea why someone would rate this game low. It has a great "classic" game feel to it. No, instead instead you have a slower-paced, mysterious adventure through a massive open world (with zero loading screens...zero loading screens)...and it's gorgeous to look at. At times it's very relaxing, other times you realizing you haven't taken a breath in a long time...and then there's the moments where a small dog machine thing came out of nowhere and scares (literally) the crap out of you.

The suspense you feel between encounters is priceless. There are main story quests and side "world quests". They play out great. The quests will be something like "a note said people may be at XXX farm, find it" or "find hunter's house and see if they left a weapon behind". When you complete the quest, you get nothing extra other than some XP and the weapon you found. It's so simplistic and feels refreshing in contrast to a lot of modern games. It is exactly what I wanted.

    Give this game a try!

Great game in my opinion. Still very new so you will encounter bugs but the open world is absolutely massive, and beautiful my god! Also going through pitch black bunkers with your flashlight and having spider type robots jump at you outta no where can be pretty intense! People are giving reviews within the 1st day of it being out and from what I hear it was glitchy, but I got it a day ago and can’t put it down! It’s challenging, if you mess with the wrong robots or a group of them by yourself, expect to get absolutely destroyed.. you can’t 1 man army the whole game going head on with the enemies like in almost every other game that’s ever been made. Best $45 I ever spent, I even bought it for my friend so we could play together and he loves it too! There’s more content to come as well, if you’ve played Call of the Wild you’ll know how nice beautiful the worlds look on the Apex game engine. Better than FC5 visually hands down, and gameplay wise. Guns have hard recoil like in real life and there’s lots of attachments for the various types and levels of weapons. Easy 10/10 for me, there’s no game breaking bugs that I’ve found in the 15 hrs so far, and there’s can be tons of robots and flares all going off at the same time and I hardly noticed a big frame drop. Better optimized than most Ubisoft games.. Expand

Gorgeous looking and fun to play! I really don't get the whole trend with disliking the game before trying it. Play more than 15 mins of it...

I am playing it on XBox One X. The graphics look great and it really looks like urban Sweden. I also enjoy the combat. It requires some strategy and you can't just go heads on with most machines. The new patch seems to have fixed some minor gripes like machines glitching through walls. Overall, this is an exploration game with some crafting and combat. Overall, this is an exploration game with some crafting and combat. So, if you like that, you will like Generation Zero. If you are expecting more shooter like combat, you probably won't like it. It should also be noted that the game starts somewhat slow. You need to play it for a while to get to the better stuff. Lots of reviews posted here, seem to be from people who were expecting a shooter game with some crafting. That's certainly not what Generation Zero is. Anyhow, the game is enjoyable for me even though it could have been implemented better. However, it has been sold as a budget title and so I didn't expect a premium game. In some areas it is also apparent that the developers had more great ideas, but probably no budget to implement them. As such, an opportunity has been missed to make this into a great game.
My recommendation: If you like exploring, you should get it. If you aren't sure, what until it is on sale.

Generation zero is a dive bomb of a game. Constantly your witts, skills, t and common sense are tested to their limits. You are thrown into a world known very little to you and you must learn it fast. From the first dead runner you see to the first alive one you understand the conflicts. By your first tank you can fully understand the multitude of different robots and machines out there.Generation zero is a dive bomb of a game. You understand the tactics and weak points you must milk and exploit. The game may lack the constant feeling of terror you get sneaking past a tank, but it is a it's a thrill. It's like a coaster, it starts of boring, then escalates up and down until its let's you down with a the ending. But, as with all coasters, you need people to go with. The game heavily relies on co-op to team intereorkings. Solo gameplay is impossible and boring. All and all the game ais a ride of lush scenery, crazy action, incredible earnings, and a tense joy ride of a game. Expand

This is a great game with excellent atmosphere and tension. Very unique and satisfying, especially with the continued updates. Glad I took a chance on it.

    Strongly underrated.
Love the graphics, the atmosphere, the sound design, the gunfights, the permanent tension, the duration... every aspect of the game actually.
Can't stop playing it. It deserves way more credit than it got until then.
Big thanks to the devs for keeping improving their baby for almost 4 years now!

I'll be honest, this game has way too many things wrong with it ranging from bugs to the gameplay. Whilst I personally love the game, I can see why people would grow agitated the more they play. Yes the bug where the robots just randomly teleport into large spaces (often leading to my death), and certain audio bugs that can only be fixed by a reset of the game, are incredibly annoying. The bugs sometimes do render the game unplayable for me, as well as the difficulty in single player being a major killjoy. And don't get me started on the story line. But away with the negativity. I like this game, and although this won't be other people's cup of tea, it is mine. Expand

Amazing game. You need patience and learn how to survive. You need to use stealth and be strategic. If you like survival/realism/stealth this is a game for you. They made The swedish nature spot on and its absolutly beautiful. I've played like 80 hours+ and haven't Come across a single bug or glitch yet.I dont know If this was bad when it first came out but know it's a True hidden gem.

I am 10-20 hours into this game and I am absolutely loving it so far. Probably the best game I have played all year.

Just added to game pass and I am enjoying it! These type of survival lite games are just what us console gamers need. Reminds me of a first person vigor without the multiplayer vs aspect, and added robots.

One of the most suprising gems ever! Could be better (saving system, auto aim for controller, bug fix etc.) but mostly great experience!

An interesting concept and setting, held back by its rather lacking execution. [Issue#177, p.78]

It's gorgeous to look at, the soundtrack is infectious and the map is well-designed but that's simply not enough to sustain a large title like this for very long.

At the end of the day, I will gladly call ‘Generation Zero’ a good game. It brings new elements and ideas together in a unique setting that hasn’t been seen before. However, the game’s point of difference is also its biggest downfall due to a lack of consistency across all elements of gameplay. Even though Avalanche Studios are constantly working on improving and updating the game, I wouldn’t call it a finished title just yet. Truthfully, I don’t feel that this game is overly suited for the Xbox and would be more enjoyable with a team of 4 people playing on PC. With time, ‘Generation Zero’ could become something incredible, but not just yet.
