In Generation Zero, I found the combat to have solid depth with the added tactical elements no fight ever feel repetitive. After many hours with the game it was clear that this isn’t their best game, but there’s still plenty of enjoyment in store along the way. In order to experience the fullest from this title it must be played co-operatively. There’s depth to the combat and the strategy so you really have to think what you have to do next which makes each fight and decision feel important to your gameplay. The game also makes exploring feel important I just wish the quests offered a bit more variety. Technically the game is far from perfect, with persistent bugs and issues present it does impact the overall presentation. Generation Zero isn’t for everybody and the few of the issues the game suffers with be disappointing for some. If you look past this you will find a game that feels rewarding and if you have a couple of friends to play along you will be able to look past the issues in the fray. This is going to be one of those game most people love or hate with little room in the middle. If you have a group to play with you will likely have a positive experience and if you go it solo you may not enjoy your time with the game. A solid attempt but maybe a few patches or tweaks down the road we will see what the game was meant to be from the initial concept. It's close but a little work is still needed in my opinion to get where this game deserves to be. Expand

    Played on Xbox One X.
Don't make excuses for the developers, they know what was launched here.
In the first 12 seconds you know something is very wrong with this game. The first light post has a disastrous issue with how it lights up. Visually it has eyeball killing motion blur you can't turn off. The graphics in this game are not nostalgic, they are unforgivably dated. Some of the

Visually it has eyeball killing motion blur you can't turn off. The graphics in this game are not nostalgic, they are unforgivably dated. Some of the graphics are just not finished, fences in mid air with no fence posts... etc. My guess this game was developed years ago (to compete with State Of Decay 1), cancelled, but then fast tracked and launched into a quiet window after Anthem and Fallout 76 performed badly, and ANY game would compete.
The fast tracking means not creating more environmental art, just copy + pasting what already existed well beyond what is acceptible. Anyone saying Crackdown 3 has 360 graphics, you have a genuine "360 graphics" right here.

Was this game developed for PSVR, sure looks like it? With its 4 player co-op, it would go from being very average to quite well recieved on VR.

So, despite this... it's fun. It's scary that this is better than Fallout 76. And priced better, but wait until it's on Gamepass.
Soundtrack is good too. To mitigate the motion blur I found a field of view set to 60 is better.
Day night and weather effects are good.

Este juego no es una maravilla porque es de un estudio pequeño. muy buenas ideas, bastante bien implementado, pero falla en darle sentido lo que estás haciendo, ritmo y misiones interesantes.

Still far from finished playing but I am giving this game 75 out of 100. As a solo game I find GZ surprisingly addictive. There is a vast and beautiful open world to explore with a great deal of variation in the landscape. I get the the impression the Swedish military were lavishly funded during the cold war, because the bunkers are on an absolutely vast scale. Between skirmishes this is a relaxing game to play and feels like a holiday simulator. You can travel either on foot or by bicycle and admire the scenery. The destruction mechanics of the robots feels very satisfying and their is plenty of variation in the weaponry. Thinking about your strategy to kill the enemy is well rewarded. The only thing that is lacking is human NPC's for solo players. Even a canine companion would be great. It feels like they spent all their budget on the world. But sill I like the lonely and eerie atmosphere and ambient music. This game grows on you the more you play. Expand

An interesting concept and setting, held back by its rather lacking execution. [Issue#177, p.78]

It's gorgeous to look at, the soundtrack is infectious and the map is well-designed but that's simply not enough to sustain a large title like this for very long.

At the end of the day, I will gladly call ‘Generation Zero’ a good game. It brings new elements and ideas together in a unique setting that hasn’t been seen before. However, the game’s point of difference is also its biggest downfall due to a lack of consistency across all elements of gameplay. Even though Avalanche Studios are constantly working on improving and updating the game, I wouldn’t call it a finished title just yet. Truthfully, I don’t feel that this game is overly suited for the Xbox and would be more enjoyable with a team of 4 people playing on PC. With time, ‘Generation Zero’ could become something incredible, but not just yet.
