Now that that is out of the way, this game is, simply put, just really fun. It is built for multiplayer, but it can be enjoyed solo (I have played about 33 hours solo including the BETA), and its one of the most fun gaming experiences I've had. Sure it doesn't have human NPC's, and that take away from its personality, but it still has that Fallout touch in the non-human NPC's and the special moments that happen. At level 23 I went in a cave and had one of the most intense, fun moments I've ever had. The cave was filled with nuclear waste barrels, and I was half irradiated before I found a HazMat suit. With the suit on and no armor rating, I got in a fight with a level 30 Legendary (Or champion, the one with the crown, whatever its called) Alpha Deathclaw! Over a few minutes I whittled it down and finished it off with a plasma grenade, and when that thing died I was so excited I had to take a picture with it (the photo-mode is a great addition to the game).

This game isn't perfect, I've had enemies spawn in walls, a t-posing protectron saying Mr. Gutsy voice lines (I'm not joking, it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen), my camp has been deleted a few times, but its still a work in progress, and Bethesda is working hard to fix it. If you have doubts, nobody is forcing you to buy the game, but give it a few weeks and stop giving it a 0 score before you actually PLAY THE DAMN GAME.

But thats just my two cents, I know the game isn't for everyone, but you just need to stop expecting it to be New Vegas 2 and give it a chance, trust me, its worth the money :)

The game is just not friendly to multiplayer. Yes, you may get fun from coop-play with friends. But random players, even if they has friendly attitude, will take exp and loot if they are near you.
There are no in-game benefits even when you team up with them.

Fallout 76 is the best (and most addictive) game I've played in the last 5 years (and my current gamerscore is at 128000, so I've played a few other games in those years). It takes most things I've loved about the Fallout franchise and gives the player a new and interesting part of the wasteland to explore, which by the way is four times as large as the environment of Fallout4.

Playing with friends is purely optional, but makes the game even better in my opinion. I'm already looking forward to future DLC and hope to spend a lot of time exploring and conquering this amazing game with my friends.

The key will be how Bethesda evolves the world through updates and dlc content. Those of you disappointed this didn't give you enough of a new experience, it is not Fallout V. Re-review the game a year from now and see how it stacks - against other mmorgs, not other single player campaign based games. Play RDR2 (great game!) if thats what you're looking for.

Glitches continue to be an issue but no worse than fallout IV or Skyrim. For example last night my wife and I were playing together - she was as unable to see any containers even though i joined her server. She had to log out and back in to fix the issue.

No npcs didnt bother me as much as i expected. After so many games where npcs behave as lifeless statues killing my momentum, it was refreshing to let holotapes play while I continue to explore and loot. It improves game pacing at the expense of a sense of lonliness. Another reason to play with friends!

So tired of the game engine feedback. With Microsoft and Playstation gearing up for new consoles in 2021 why wouldn't a company stretch the current engine to its limit? Sorry gamers but Bethesda is in the business of making money. I would rather have Fallout 76 for what it is versus waiting another 3 years for a next gen game and console. PC gamers, get over it - you're a dying revenue stream so you will continue to see less dev effort. Enjoy what you get or make the move to console. I dont miss my keyboard and neck pain :-)

Typically, I would say that this sense of emptiness would be beneficial to a post-apocalyptic game, but most of the landscape remains lush and teeming with creatures, in stark contrast to the social capabilities of the player. This game is incredibly empty with no real npc's to interact with, workbenches and the like that can only be utilized by a single player at a team leading to waiting in line for the chance to do anything, player collision systems that stop players from moving through each other making it so that people who stop in door ways stop everyone else from entering the building. Monsters spawn far to frequently and attack based solely on seeing a player, meaning trolls simply lead large groups of monsters into populated areas and let them loose on unsuspecting players. On top of that the story, if you want to call it that, is really, really lazy and poorly done. It honestly might as well not even be there. Now we can get to the best part, that the game is a buggy mess! This truly is a failure in every way. If you want a good fallout experience but have completed 4 then go back and play 1,2,tactics, 3 or NV. This game isn't

Every single location my buds and I have visited so far has had an interesting story to tell. Emotional holo-tapes (some several minutes long), notes, hand-written journals, terminal logs, and sentient robots all shed light on what life was like for past, pre-war inhabitants. Many times, their grim stories will even kick off a variety of small quests. It's a far cry from other survival games like Rust, Conan Exiles, DayZ, and Ark Survival that don't even HAVE quests, let alone much backstory. From what I've seen of the survival genre, the sole fact that FO76 is NOT Early Access already has me hooked.

Overall, aside from a few graphical bugs I've encountered, I've had a ton of fun surviving, exploring, fighting different enemies, building my own mini-base, and uncovering crazy secrets on the map. Even though it's not your traditional single-player Fallout RPG, the amount of content and systems at play in FO76 is staggering for an online survival MMO and can keep you and your friends occupied for weeks. If you're into PvE and Roleplay the West Virginia hills are vast and filled with NPC monsters for hunting and looting. If you're into PvP, there are always good bounties waiting on Hunter/Hunted Station radio.

Some sage advice from an old arcade player, if you're ever not sure whether a modern game is worth it's full price, rate it at $1 an hour. If you can get 60 hours of game-play from a $60 retail game, it's well worth it in my old-school, coin-operated book.

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why it's such an absolute chore to play, I went into it optimistically, I was honestly hoping for a good time. I've sunk a ridiculous amount of hours into the fallout and Elder Scrolls series and I've enjoyed them a lot despite their flaws but 76 just stands apart, it's the black sheep of the series, the really boring black sheep. The main story is pathetic. Fallout 76 is the story of an insane man chasing quest markers around a map while pointless audio logs play in the background. You do not have any goals or direction, there are no characters to get you engaged or immersed in the game, just an endless series of quest markers to follow around. Saying the story is half-assed would be an overstatement, it's closer to no assed. The world is actually quite beautiful, the environments look really great and contain many different visually distinct areas, it's just too bad there's nothing in this world worth finding. There is literally no challenge in this game at all. Almost every enemy takes one or two shots to kill, while the player seems to be built like a tank. The power armor in this game works similar to the the star powerup in Super Mario Bros, you never die... At first I thought this was just because I was in a low-level area, but I ended up running into an enemy that was nearly double my level at one point and he was basically no threat whatsoever, I just back pedaled down the road and shot him in the face a few times. This game's difficulty feels like I'm playing fallout 4 on the "game journalist" difficulty. It is mind-numbingly boring and as a result of that I quickly started using fast travel whenever I possibly could to avoid fighting endless waves of impotent enemies. Let's talk about the loot, which is basically the only reason to play the game. There's no story and the enemies suck, so the loot has to be good right? This was the moment of revelation for me, this was the point that I figured it out, fallout 76 is not a Fallout game, it's a F-ing MMO. The core gameplay is there, it's a shooting game where you collect loot and level up, but all the joy of playing a Fallout game is just absent. There are no cool characters to meet, there are no interesting areas to explore I would go as far to say there really are no quests. Every area is just go here, kill dudes, pick up loot and return. And is the loot even worth anything? No of course not, MMOs are designed to waste your time, so you'll find 500000 pipe pistols that are all worth one cap. Thank You Todd. Let's talk about the cash shop. I don't really need to say anything about this. There is a cashshop and everyone knows cashshops are cancer. The leveling completely sucks, I have no idea how they F-ed this up so bad. The leveling up in Skyrim and fallout 4 was awesome, there were so many good perks to choose from and every level made you feel tangibly stronger. But leveling up in fallout 76 is pretty bland, the game randomizes the perks you can choose from and most of them are really anemic. I honestly couldn't tell much of a difference between my character when I was level one versus when I was level 20. It felt more or less the same. And because of the randomness, there's basically no chance that you can specialise towards a specific kind of build, you're just sort of stuck with whatever they give you. I imagine that after a few hundred hours of playtime you might be able to collect all the different perks, but there is no way I'm gonna suffer through to that point. This game handicaps itself by being so pathetically easy, why would you ever bother to team up with someone who's going to take half of your loot if you can play just as effectively solo. it's completely pointless. And even if you are brain-dead enough to actually need help with a quest good luck finding another player who has the exact same quest, is a similar level and actually wants to team up with you. You are probably more likely to win the lottery, so the co-op is totally pointless. The PvP is not only also pointless but it's also fundamentally broken. The way the PvP works is that when you shoot a player it sends a duel request and does a tiny amount of damage to that player, then if that player shoots back at you it starts a duel and then you both do full damage to each other. The problem here is that the person who sends the duel request by shooting first will always lose because the way you initiate the duel is by shooting back, meaning that if someone shoots you, you can just walk straight up to them, go into your inventory, put on your power armor, pop a psycho, get out your strongest shotgun and then just vats in on their head and get a critical and you'll kill them in one hit. You win the duel there's nothing they can do to stop you from doing this because they cannot damage you until you shoot back. it's just the most broken system. Expand

What I really enjoy about the game (I've played 76 since the pre-BETA stress Test)

--Microtransactions - the ability to trade and barter with other Vault Dwellers adds a fun twist to the game, no more depending on just NPC merchants (which 76 does have)
--The vastness of Applachia - promises hours of game time with no repeat encounters
--Being able to join up with fellow Vault Dwellers to creat actual Fallout communities
--Crafting - being able to make literally anything and everything myself. You do need plans and blueprints
--Blueprinting - Once you build your palace/castle you can blueprint it so if you move your CAMP it can be rebuilt with ease.
--Moveable CAMP - A portable workstation to enables the Vault Dweller to have immediate access to literally any workstation or Basecamp feature on the go. You do need to pay caps to move once it's been built once.

But bc its Bethesda who even while they fail to deliver a workable game without modders to help them and theres no mods untilnext November, they can't be questioned or bc Fallout has name recognition, this game will probably do well in sales but as the rush of the first few weeks dies down, so will the players bc the world while big is a boring mess without too much to enjoy.

The game is awful trying to play solo even though Bethesda tries to trick people into buying it telling you its just as enjoyable experience alone as it is in a group. Its a multiplayer game and they try to shoehorn you to do so even more than they tried to force you to be a minuteman in Fallout 4. PvP is a joke so the CoD gamers will dislike it and Bethesdas usual customer base will dislike it bc how theres no rpg in the game. So you're left with a huge world with so little content that its sad its a $60 price tag on it. Its not worth 60, if you're dying to get it, wait a few months when the price will inevitably drop bc either they won't sell enough copies or won't be able to keep players interested to continue to log on. The game tries to be 2 different genres and fails to stand out in either one. Avoid unless you have money to burn. If you're on the fence, I'd say wait and see. Come back to the idea around Christmas, see what they've fixed, what they've done to improve long term playability and then make up your mind if this is for you.

    Pros
    -Huge world
    -Decent new enemies
    - Multiplayer questing can be fun at times
    - Is a loot simulator. If you enjoy looting in Skyrim or Fallout 4, it may be something you look forward to doing.
    - Game is brighter in some areas

    Cons
    - No npcs( it does matter in a huge world like this)
    - No story outside of reading (Bethesda hasn't done a good story in a very long time so maybe that's a plus?)
    - Rpg elements are completely gone
    - Recycled Fallout 4 EVERYTHING. Very little is different from that game, from design to profile. Very cost effective cut and paste.
    - Being shoehorned into playing with others. The game is pretty awful by yourself.
    - Very little challenge fighting enemies.
    - Gunplay and VATS is completely trash in this game and its not an effective shooter to aim manually exceptionally well.
    - PvP isn't interesting enough to keep people fighting.
    - Game seems confused on what it wants to be.
    - Game is unfinished. Bethesda has even admitted as much. So essentially you're paying full price for a game that's been shipped far too early and not even done yet. (Bethesda has a first day patch BIGGER than the WHOLE ACTUAL GAME! That should be a red flag on anyone on the fence about this game.
    - Without modders this time around, its up to Bethesda to fix their own bugs which they've proven they are poor at.
    - Bugs galore and framerates drop frequently.
    - Game lacks significant polish, seems thrown together in spots and the outdated Creation engine is showing its age considerably. Game overall seems rushed while I wouldn't call it a complete cash grab, its a cash in attempt. As I said before, if this didn't have Fallout in its title, it would be a flop, panned critically and player wide and forgettable within the first week.

It's far from perfect, but this is day one. Being an online game means that it will be fixed often, so many of these flaws are more likely to be fixed soon, so this is no big deal for me right now. It's not a game for everyone, but it's definitely a game for me.

The game, at its very core, is a boring slog of inane missions which are there as an extremely dull distraction from an empty and lackluster world. If the premise of the "game" you are attempting to sell relies primarily playing with friends, then the game needs to provide an interesting environment in which these experiences can happen in. This game utterly fails at that.

I've not been a fan of the fallout games for very long, my passion for these great games and their interesting setting started in 2013, when I discovered Fallout 3, within moments of playing , I was in love with the series, and played New Vegas and 3 to death, even played 2 for a while. When I heard 4 was coming, I exploded with excitement, I was so happy the day I had Fallout 4 in my hands I could have died. Fallout 4 was a good game in my opinion, I was only slightly disappointed about minor changes. It was my least favourite I had played so far, but I still loved it.

But anyway, this year, when the 76 trailer dropped, I again, was ecstatic, I stayed up until 3 in the morning (Despite the fact I had exams next day) waiting for any news on 76, and I was really disappointed, but optimistic. I got the power armour edition this Monday, I had played some BETA, and the helmet etc was amazing, but, when holding the little steel book which the game was held in, I wasn't excited. Here's the pros and cons.

(This is what ive gathered from my 8 hours BETA playtime, and my 5 hours full game time)

    Pros:
Finally, a wasteland I can explore with my friends! (if my friends bought this game and weren't warning me about how crap the game was going to be)

    New lore! New places!

Meet new fellow Fallout fans! (Or a bunch of 10 year olds with all the spare time in the world to get power armour, new powerful guns etc, and trample over you when you say ''Hello!'')

(thats about all I can think of for pros)

    Negatives:

Fallout is a Role playing game, you cannot have this without exchange of dialogue. You cannot communicate with anything in game (Grafton Mayor for example) Though Fallout 4's 'Sarcastic' or 'No' dialogue options were lackluster, lazy and bad? Well, Now you cannot speak to anything in game, unless its another player, and theres a 99% they have no microphone, so you have to communicate with emotes. Weak.

Alone. You NEED a friend with a microphone to enjoy this game, otherwise its so lonely and deprived of any substance.

You need so many Caps its unholy. Whats that? You want to fast travel? 16 caps please. Whats that? you want this workshop? 60 caps please. You got killed? bye bye caps! In previous Fallouts, there were caps everywhere, and everything was free. Now I feel like Ebeneezer Scrooge, 'Do I pay 36 caps to teleport there, or do I walk?'

Brain dead story. With no Npcs to play with, your rely on the odd robot or holotape to tell you where to go, or to get an item. Boring fetch quests. Really Bethesda?

Welcome to Little Lamplight! Kids galore. Kids with no mics, roaming around in gangs, killing as they please because they have a **** ton of spare time to level up, get op guns armour etc. Anyone under 14, please go back to Fortnite. This game is suffering enough without sweaty children roaming the map.

    .
Bugs are a huge problem, whether its textures loading painfully slowly (Fallout 3 looks like a work of art in comparison) or the servers lagging, or just some visual bug (A texture not loading for example) Bugfest 76 is full of glitches.

So much more. Vats, settlements, perk cards etc. I could go on for ages.

To summarise, what made Fallout great was its setting, and its genre. RPG. This Fallout is a shadow of its former self, if anything, this makes me want to just go play Fallout 4 again, to be reminded of what fallout is. This may be a good, fun MMO game, but its not a good Fallout Game.
I look forward to Fallout 5, four years away, with a mix of fear, and hope.

Seriously, just buy Fallout 3, 4 and New vegas and all the DLC's sor a fraction of the price, you will have a much better Fallout experience, wait until this thing is in the bargain bin, then you might consider buying it.

(The elder scrolls online was **** Bethesda, take a hint, Turning RPG story driven single player games and turning them into money grabbing, low common denominator sellout MMO's doesn't work.)

My own impressions(not review since you know, I'm only 25 hours in):
There is definitely valid criticism for FO76 (like any game) but from my experience, its been tons of fun and surprisingly stable (bugs and all during BETA).

My background: 25+ years of gaming, 10 years of modding. My ideal Bethesda multiplayer experience has always been a 4-6 cooperative experience. FO76 went a little bigger than I expected which is good and bad. I'm 95% a PC player but this recently got an Xbox One for RDR2 and FO76 because my friends are on console.

Before I continue, anyone saying that some multiplayer wasn't a request by the fans is dead wrong. Quote from 2011 before Skyrim release from Todd Howard: "The two most requested features we get are dragons and multiplayer. We got one of them this time!”

Also, if you understand game development. Multiplayer is extremely hard to develop, especially when its a hybrid singleplayer/multiplayer experience and as complex as most Bethesda games. There is a reason why most companies don't attempt it and split the genre.

    Pros:
-Massive map with lots of content. I've explored maybe 5% of the game with 25 hours in. Now that BETA is over, I will likely take my time so there is tons of content out there. Does not feel repetitive so far and each area feels fresh and unique. Lots of detail! View Distance is amazing.

-Multiplayer within the Creation Engine (and all its pros/cons). The reason I love that they implemented multiplayer in the creation engine is that it feels and plays like a genuine Bethesda game but now with multiplayer vs making an entirely new engine and essentially separate game.

-Lots of quests. The quests have lots of content and voice acting but its tough to listen to all of it when you're with friends. If you're soloing though, there is plenty of content here to get enveloped in the story/lore.

-Private servers for all, Modding support for PC, the sky is the limit! Bethesda has been allowing heavy modding in their games for over a decade. Bethesda said full private custom servers for FO76 will be supported and that means anything you don't currently like about the game, could be essentially modded in with the heavy lifting of multiplayer implementation DONE.

-Crafting/Base Building: Lots to craft and lots to build. Both systems work well and have been expanded since FO4.

    Cons:

-UI/Sorting needs more work: These are minor but frustrating when trying to organize your inventory. I expect it to get some improvements overtime.

-Stash Limits: Though there are ways to mitigate it, the current limit too small and needs to be expanded in an intuitive way. Bethesda said they are going to do this eventually.

-Performance issues (Xbox One S): Though this has gotten better since BETA, I feel like there is room for improvement. On one hand, I love that Bethesda doesn't hold back. A horde of enemy AI IS a horde of enemy AI but when your frame rate dips its hard to enjoy it. Hopefully they can find the sweet spot in highly dense areas.

Overall, this feels like a Bethesda open world experience with Friends though a bit watered down which was expected given the work to add multiplayer (modding support is key here). This is some of the most fun I've had in a game in some time. I've always dreamed of playing a Bethesda game with friends and I feel like they captured that completely.

I've played the stress test and 90% of the BETAs and this game is more Fallout. Yes, it uses the same ol engine (which has been graphically improved) and still relies on the PipBoy for it's menu system (also improved from Fallout 4) but is still a good Fallout game. Every Bethesda game has weird bugs and this is no exception as they've heavily modified the engine to incorporate multiplayer. The combat is mainly the same with the exception of VATS which just takes a couple minutes to get used to. The lack of NPCs is incorporated into the story beats which end up being conveyed via audio logs (a la Bioshock).

I've run into a handful of bugs (nothing game breaking [looking at you Red Dead 2]) but have overall had a great time wether playing solo or with a team. With lots of planned support, events, updates and fixes expected throughout the year, this may be a game that looks entirely different a year from now (looking at you Sea of Thieves). It's not going to be the Game of the Year, but certainly isn't the 1's and 0's that the whiny minority of the internet is claiming it is on here.

I've met people online to play with, that I now play with regularly, and that's actually really nice. After all, one of Fallout 76's biggest boasts to date has been the concept of "doing it together" - the idea of having the game bring players together in a group to explore: which, for me, it certainly has done.

To be honest, if you're reading this with the actual hope of getting a fair opinion on the game, I'm not sure why so many people are upset with it at its launch (which is when I'm writing this). It's not a perfect game but it definitely doesn't deserve to be bombarded with 0s by folks who haven't, and who refuse to, play the game for themselves - which is why I'm giving it a 10. Why is it that a game made to bring players together, with seemingly good intentions, possesses so many people to act so negatively? As though to try and tear the community down before it even has a chance to walk.

I understand people wish it were a single player game and I'm pretty sure Bethesda has said that they'll continue to make single player games after Fallout 76. This game tries something different which, respectfully, is quite a brave thing to do.

Now, if you can't get by the idea of something which takes the road less traveled by then so be it; this game isn't for you and that's okay - but if you're welcome to new ideas and like the prospect of joining a community of players who are as well then Fallout 76 offers a unique opportunity: to emerge form the vault together.

Hope to see you in the wasteland!

I want more CAMP space to build. Bigger stash. Harsher consequences for death. PVE & PVP servers. Remove level caps on everything. The level caps make no sense at all in a game like this.

If you haven't played the game, and aren't making a critique on what you like/don't like in a vacuum from comparisons to what you have played/wanted, shut up and go away. You are an idiot.

It isn't good it is poorly optimized and not well made. The game starts at 45 GB and has a day one patch of 52 GB yes Bethesda was unable to make a functional game so the patch they realese was larger than the game it self, not to metion that the patch dosnt fix much

Shameless cashgrab and a betrayal of real fallout fans in the pursuit of money. And it shows.

The best thing I can say about this game is it's not the worst game I've ever played. It's a very confusing game of half measures. Yeah, it's still kind of fun and now you can at least laugh at the bugs with 3 of your friends, but however you want to sugarcoat this game, you can't argue that this is a huge downgrade in terms of quality compared to anything Bethesda has done before.

Yes, it has a huge map and crafting is back with more options and the gameplay loop is still passable as "somewhat fun", but we've lost

Yes, it has a huge map and crafting is back with more options and the gameplay loop is still passable as "somewhat fun", but we've lost NPCs, engaging story quests, most of the narrative, not to mention the trainwreck that's the SPECIAL system right now and at the end of the day, this game is a huge sandbox that, in all its vastness, ultimately feels empty. Bethesda has removed a lot of things compared to FO4, but forgot that if you take away from the game, you're supposed to put something in instead.

Additionally, we still have the same friggin problems we had with FO4, but this time, modders won't be able to fix these for at least a year. No FOV slider, FPS lock on PC, weird glitches, objects and enemies stuck in the terrain, MY CHARACTER stuck in the terrain, missin push-to-talk option, disappearing and t-posing enemies... the list just goes on and on... Hell there are even bugs that Bethesda supposedly "fixed" during the beta, but here they are in the final release.

Microtransactions are the final nail for me. Yes, you can earn everything by playing but just the existence of MTX in this game makes my blood boil. It makes it seem like this game went for profits and profits only. At least the cash shop works perfectly, am I right boys? It just adds insult to injury.

Bethesda really needs to get its crap together if they want me to put money down for their products ever again.

Just the name. A reason for Bethesda to get more money. Same bad engine, even worst because of it being online. Unfinished and unpolished. Don't touch this even with a stick.

This game is amazing. A blast with friends, and I can say with certainty that is is one of if not the best fallout game I have ever played.

Many call it an obscene cash grab or a horrendous antithesis of fallout. I just call it garbage. It's a result of bethesda design philosophy to create content ultra-cheap and push it as a fake AAA game. This game shows a complete lack of respect for ex-loyal customers.

I pre ordered this game and expected something similar to previous games. I played it for some hours, but i'ts a dead lifeless world with good things missing from it. Biggest disappointment I have had with a game for as long as I can remember.

Maybe it will do a No Mans Sky and turn into something pretty decent eventually, but at launch this game should be avoided. It is currently drowning in problems both technical and creative and just generally feels like a game thats still in development and about a year off launch.

    - Lack of NPCs takes away a lot of the motivation to explore and pretty much kills PvE, especially solo.

    - Lack of NPCs takes away a lot of the motivation to explore and pretty much kills PvE, especially solo. All you're ever going to find is a holotape or note.

    - The PvP system is also quite poorly implemented. Anyone you attack will take drastically reduced damage unless they retaliate, the world is huge and resources are plentiful so theres just no real incentive to do it right now.

    - The world is ironically too much of a wasteland. Some of the environment design is decent but with no proper NPCs (other than protectrons, Mr Handys etc that have limited dialogue) and a very small amount of other human players around (relative to the size of the map) it feels like you're walking through an abandoned museum. Yes, its supposed to be post apocalyptic, but this takes that way too far.

    - The hunger/thirst mechanic is just an annoyance that gets in the way. You need to eat and drink far too often and of course most food/drink gives you radiation.

    - The game lags to absolutely preposterous levels as times. I'm talking literal slideshow.

    - A lot of times it feels like enemies simply materialised 5 feet behind you then darted at you at 100mph with absolute laser focus in a way that you couldnt possibly have pre empted. You can be in the middle of an empty field and then 2 seconds later getting swarmed by enemies that were nowhere to be seen.

    - Graphically its if anything slightly worse than Fallout 4 was.

It can be mildly entertaining for an hour or so here and there in co op with friends, but most things are. To reiterate - I strongly recommend you wait and see how (or if) Bethesda fix this game, and what they add to, before you consider buying it.

PS: Gotta love Bethesda spending time implementing microtransactions when the game has a myriad of serious issues that they should be working on first. Absolutely shameless.

Since multiplayer aspect has to be balanced, the rest of the game is more of a give and take. The new perk system is somewhat confusing but decent. Weapon condition has been reintroduced to the franchise, but there are workbenches and junk everywhere so fixing something is only a short sprint away. Some weapons and perks have level requirements, but these pack a punch when you finally equip them. Every item you pick up has realistic weight to it (yes, even ammo at .003/round). Enemies aren't tanky but they aren't one shot either. In all honesty, it just feels like what it is: a fallout game retooled for multiplayer. It has great potential to be a fun and balanced game for players, but truth be told, it's no botw. Expand

Basically Stolen Coop mod for Fallout4.
60$ game that uses 80% assets, textures and animations from the previous game, works on a **** 19(!!!!) years old engine and has a joke of an anticheat.
Braindead story with literally NO npc-s. Survival is boring and simple. Lore and history, written by far more tallented people, once again trashed with "clever" ideas of a junior janitor

But it’s hard to feel as if you’re truly affecting the world when there are no NPCs to express satisfaction or disdain, or to be directly influenced by your actions. Even killing feels hollow. Some of my best battles in Fallout 4 came when I stumbled across an outpost and found there a raider in there; he’d yell and scream at me as we were facing off. The Scorched, while armed, feel like nothing more than zombies.

The addition of multiplayer feels as though it comes at the expense of Fallout’s memorable story-driven moments. What good is a vast map full of players if they're given little to no purpose? When no other players are around, the game’s world feels almost empty. The attention-grabbing locales and landmarks add to Appalachia's charm, but it's difficult to not wish for living, breathing characters to inhabit it. Post-apocalyptic West Virginia is described as a wasteland, and this term paints an inadvertent but accurate picture of what Fallout 76 is right now.

If you enjoy multiplayer games of this type and are willing to overlook the engine anomalies, you may find yourself rapidly addicted to the game's exploration density and loot systems. If you're easily frustrated by bugs and issues, you may want to sit tight a bit to see what Bethesda does to polish things up, cus oh boy, it could use a bit right now. If you're a fan of the single player, branching narrative the series is known for, you'll want to wait for Fallout 5.
