Overall though the game lived up to my expectations, but rarely surpass them. There were bugs galore, as in every bethesda game. The combat was severally improved, so props to Bethesda on that, but in turn, we lost some of the role playing aspects that defined fallout. The story was initially cliched but left me deeply thinking halfway on who I should side with, so the lack of player choice wasn't a total letdown for me. That along with weak settlement construction and some cannon defying choices bethesda made, Fallout 4 is a great game, but far from perfect. It is the best in franchise for gameplay, amongst the top for story, but perhaps the worst in terms of RPG elements Expand

Fallout 4 Image This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I feel bad for all the hate Bethesda is getting. People need to realize something important:

This game is much worse on consoles due to frame rate being capped at 30FPS and textures being compressed. Load times are also excruciating on console.

This is not just Bethesda's fault, this is the fault of the people for buying a $350 console that is essentially a $700 strength branded gaming PC, and expecting $1400 gaming PC power. Maybe games like Battlefront were optimized for console better, but on PC with everything on Ultra, this game is everything I wanted it to be in terms of graphics.

Although textures here and there could be twice as definitive, the natural light and shading and atmospheres created are 11/10.

Character animations and what not, as with all Bethesda games, is their weak spot. But its completely tolerable.

At first I thought I was going to be majorly disappointed in this game, for a few reasons:

The intro, time in the vault, and first walk in the wasteland is extremely concentrated, fast, and simple.
All 1-100 skill leveling from Fallout 3 has been condensed into a singular SPECIAL/Perk Chart. It feels bottle necked and simplified for extremely casual players, and this is not what Fallout 3 was.

The first important NPC tells you to jump into power armor and allows you to control a settlement in like five minutes. The first Brotherhood of Steel guy you meet asks you to join. This is all cheesy in my eyes and I wanted drastic broad-stroke story before I received Power Armor and General status.

In 2015, all forms of entertainment feel required to pull the user in, FAST. I think this is a bi-product of that unfortunate concept.

Fortunately enough though, after a few quests and with playing on the hardest difficulty, this game is the hardcore challenge I wanted. Quick-save exists for a reason, you can get your ass kicked. On the hardest difficulty, two swipes from a Yao Guai and you're dead. And that's with good armor.

The settlement building is quite allowing, and you do not run into an anticlimactic Tony-Hawk style inventory cap. Mods and DLC will surely add tons of content to settlement building over the next two years, and even with the vanilla release content, you can accidentally spend hours building your bases.

Weapon/Armor Modding feels just right. There's complexity for sure, but it's not revolting and easy to get into.

The worst part of this game is the story. It started off so fast and I do not care about who was killed. The main character has no emotion, despite the fact that they give you to social option to be like "IM LOOKING FOR MY SON" all the time. People need to realize though, story isn't what made Fallout 3 either. It was all the systems throughout scavenging, traveling, character customization and combat challenges. THIS GAME STILL HAS ALL OF THAT.

The thing that is most controversial to me is the map size. The map size is smaller than Skyrim/Fallout 3, BUT, in their defense it is quite dense. I think we should expect map size to double with all the DLC that eventually comes out.

The Story grips you from the very get go, the character creation is pure enjoyment and fun having quirky comments made as you adjust your characters looks to the way you want them.

The dialogue is great and so is the voice acting its not just plain boring robotic acting, the combat is exactly what you expect from a Bethesda game which is nothing to flash but its enjoyable as anything.

The Perk tree is really quite amazing just looking at it you know leveling up is going to be real satisfying working towards getting your characters build the way you want it.

Oh and it has its own radio stations of classical music, which I love games that do that similar to bioshock with its classical songs. Really adds to the atmosphere of the game.

This is just from me playing it for 3 hours so to all those 0's out there, get a life and go back to your Black Ops 3.

In terms of the game, some choices were made that made it better, some choices may not be too great, but as a game? It's incredible for what sixty dollars can buy you. People are satisfied spending sixty bucks EVERY year for Call of Duty or sports games which is the SAME. EXACT. THING. EVERY. TIME. but when it comes to this, "Oh it's the same game, nothing too new" like really? Does that make any sense? Did Halo 5 falling short upset people that now they have to knock down a titan to make it seem balanced? Users shouldn't be allowed to review a game. How is this game a 0? 0 is non-functional. I'm pretty damn sure this game is functional.

In short: The game is certainly worth the money and your time. It's going to have things that will upset some or make other extremely happy but in general? It's still the fallout you know and love and for people who believe that this game is a 5.4? or a 4.3? Go **** yourself.

Now that i have spoken how good this game is, it still has flaws for example loading times are bit too long, the audio for gun fire sometimes doesn't work immediately (in my experience) and i personally don't like the settlement mechanic, and they do kinda force it down your throat a little with side quests, telling you to build a certain thing but that's it! considering the massive scale of this game it has very few hiccups and ill be playing this game for years to come. The Fallout series has always been prized for its immersive world full of colorful characters and questionable life choices. You can be an angel among men and women or a total jerk, but in Fallout 4, things are a bit more ambiguous.
    (Be weary. Spoilers ahead.)

The game starts a good deal of time in the future, long after the events of 2008’s Fallout 3. The Wasteland is no longer a completely grueling desert of radiation, but a somewhat blooming foundation for the future. Sure, parts are still heavily irradiated and ghouls and super mutants roam about, but there are blue skies and green grass!

One of the first things players will get to do is customize their Wastelander. For the first time, you can select a gender for your character, and players may even hear their name out loud from the game’s characters. There are over 250 names supported.

After customizing your character, you find out you and your family have been selected to move into Vault 111 pending nuclear holocaust. And what do you know? Literally five minutes after sealing the deal, the bombs drop.

You and your husband/wife and newborn baby head to the vault and are cryo-frozen without consent.
Events transpire, which will not be spoiled here, and then the Wasteland is yours to explore. So what’s different this time around?

Well, conversations have been simplified for entry-level players, but choosing your dialogue options is still a blast. It’s a lot more accessible and the camera is adjustable during conversations, a series first.

Gunplay has been greatly improved and it’s a lot more active. The V.A.T.S. system, which allows players to slow down time and choose a body part to target, has been made a real-time component.
Also improved and made ten times more enjoyable is power armor. Oh, the power armor.

The player’s first experience with power armor has them taking on a group of raiders while defending the Minutemen, a militia aimed at protecting the Commonwealth, a large portion of Boston.

You get in this giant, hulking suit, jack a minigun from a helicopter and take the raiders down. Oh, and then a Deathclaw shows up. I’ll let you experience that for yourself. Overall, Fallout 4 retains the charm of previous Bethesda titles.

The adventure and imagination of The Elder Scrolls and the dark, comedic humor of Fallout is all here.
The game is packed with content, side quests, voice acting and more, and you’ll want to play it a few times to catch everything.

It’s more of the same, but better. Like the game’s opening lines say: “War, war never changes.”

The world is massive. You most likely will not run out of things to do for many hours in. The NPC are great and voice acted well. The gameplay in general is amazing. However, we come to the biggest issue with the game: technical hiccups. Like many of Bethesda's other games the game can be glitchy and is not well optimized. I will give the cruddy graphics a pass since the game is massive, however, frame rate drops even on top PCs is unacceptable. Well all have given Bethesda a pass due to the scale of their games. However, its 2015 and they are still there. It is starting to become ridiculous. Bethesda NEEDS to update their engine. Other bugs include: Companions running straight into enemy fire or getting blown up randomly with no enemies around. Also quests have been known to glitch causing you to have to revert back to a previous save file to complete it. Luckily the massive scale and great gameplay still allows this game a positive review. The game overcomes many of flaws and is well worth 60 dollars. Expand

    This is a solid game all around, yes it isn't as good as Skyrim for a number of reasons;

--Too many boring go clear a building quests
    --Locations reused multiple times
    --Uglier terrain
--Nameless NPCs to 'flesh out' cities
    --Lack of location variety
    --Obvious copy and pasted areas
    --More bland infinitely generated quests

But it does come with a bunch of upgrades

--you don't have to level up a perk to unlock a perk, you are free as long as you meet the level requirement for that stat
--you don't have to go into a menu to loot containers and bodies
--your followers all have their own backstories, and as they get to like you they reveal a little bit of it here and there, until they ask you to go on a quest with them!
--completing said follower quest unlocks a perk
--there are multiple factions that actually oppose each other, you can't just join them all

There are also times it seems Bethesda didn't care about the game. When you clear out a location to build a settlement, the dead bodies stay there forever, and I am playing in 2021. You'll be addicted and frustrated. It feels so annoying and passive aggressive when they force a random event "kill some people for no real reason" missions to be selected and pop up on your HUD.

Do yourself a favor and play the DLCs - Far Harbor and Nuka World. These add missions, weapons, armors, settlements, creature types (hermit crab + fog crawler = death), and followers. Other DLCs add crafting functionality (Automatron = crafting new robotic followers) and are worth your pennies too.

One of my top games of the year, Fallout 4 was a satisfying quest that I dumped over 100 hours into on my first run. If you played Fallout 3 and enjoyed the combat, the exploration, and the grind of collecting junk, this game is for you. If you are hopeful that they took the best parts of Fallout 3's dialogue and choice system and ran with it, you may be a bit disappointed.

I loved the crafting aspect, and the ability to make use of all the junk found in the wasteland. Weapon and armor upgrades are nothing new to gaming, but I feel Fallout 4 found a way to make it feel fresh and rewarding to upgrade items over time by finding the necessary components.

The story was a bit weird, but by no means did I feel let down by it as I came to my conclusion of it. Fallout 4 is one of the best releases of 2015 by all means in my opinion, and much of the criticism comes out of a place of not being able to please everyone. I was by all means satisfied with my Fallout 4 experience and look forward to another play through in the future.

This game is a great, not as good as new Vegas but still better than fallout 3. You get to build your own settlements. You can join different factions based on your beliefs ( just like new Vegas). There is so much more you can do in this game. BUT hype got the best of this game. Bethesda didn't ask what the fans wanted so they put in what they wanted. Could've been a much better game

Having spent 40 hours in the game, I'd say I'm impressed. I'm big fan of Fallout 3 and Skyrim, so while not perfect, this title still hits all the big marks for me - exactly what I was expecting and greatly improved on the model (for the most part).

As far as a 1st person immersive world - it's the best yet. Environments and insanely better than previous Bethesda titles. They might not be at the top of the list, but the wasteland never looked to GOOD. Character models are a weak link, but I can forgive that because I play the game for the environment.

Quests - Like all Bethesda games, I expect some repetition eventually. You have to when you eventually play 300 hours in a single game. So far It's easily the most imaginative story lines yet. The stories within stories (the ones you have to simply observe) are priceless. The key to keeping your gameplay fresh is to NOT rush through the whole map right away - Don't be in a hurry to see everything. Take your time and save things so you still have something new to explore after your character has many hours under their belt.

-I do miss the skills being separate. I prefered the ability to control my skills myself and if I wanted to build up Sneak, Small guns, and Medic quickly, I could keep dumping points into all of them at each level up. Now, Its reduced to picking a Perk that specializes in one thing. And hoping I find skill magazines. I'm sure it's all there as before, but I don't prefer how they are currently organizing it - and dolling it out.

-I also miss that weapons don't deteriorate - it was such a rush to scavenge additional weapons knowing I didn't have to carry them around - I could immediately use them to repair and improve my weapons and have instant gratification. But I also acknowledge the new crafting system provides a more creative and robust solution to that - it just takes longer and I just haven't spent that much time crafting yet.

-I DON'T miss Karma. I don't believe in Karma. If I want to steal something and no one is around, I don't need the lords of the universe judging me. I much much prefer what they've done here - Your follower judges you. You earn their trust (and get rewarded for it) if they like your behavior. It's is so much more real. We DO make different decisions based on who we are around - plus you might have to play 'out of character' because your current follower doesn't like stealing - OR you roleplay that your character has to "play along" in order to get what you need from them. Which ever way, it's so much better.

-Gunplay is much better. I've heard people say it's terrible. No, Fallout 3's gunplay was terrible. This might not be FPS, but the game is not a FPS. I think it works great and I LOVE the new improvement on VATS.

-I would prefer some tutorials because some of the systems are difficult to understand at first. But then again, I figured them out. I don't mind being a little confused and resorting to a quick web tutorial. It's just up to Bethesda to gamble - what is ok for people to figure out and what is too hard? They run the risk of losing people if they get too frustrated out of the gate. I personally, was more than fine with it.

-Bugs. I have yet to run into any game ending bugs. Skyrim used to freeze fairly regular, so this seems WAY more stable than Skyrim. I don't care if a scorpion walks halfway through a wall or if a random raider is floating above ground. The game has been very stable for a Bethesda game. I also cut them some slack in that I believe it's likely impossible to fully debug this game before release. It's too big and there's way too many varibables. I don't think they have a choice but to do the best they can knowing that the mass public will end up revealing large amounts of bugs. If you hate buts that much, you should know not to play a Bethesda game until a couple of patches have been released. I don't think they are lazy, I think its just the fact of an open world this big and dense.

-Crafting settlments is interesting and can be a mini game in its own. This is the 'minecraft' part of the game. While it doesn't seem to be necessary to the story at all (I believe it can be ignored for the most part), it's still a refreshing break and allows for another way in for players. I've heard of some players being so wrapped in settlement building that they largely ignore the rest of the real game. THAT is the definition of an OPEN WORLD. That is the future. Literally do anything you want, as long as you are finding fulfillment in it. I hope to see that sort of thing evolved even further in future Bethesda titles.

In short, I love it. I was hoping it was more of an 'experience' than a 'game'. They certainly delivered!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Being new to the Fallout series, I enter with no preconceptions. I found the game a lot of fun and am over 12 days of play time. I enjoyed the quest lines and the options on how to deal with the factions. I choose to walk the line and keep all of them friendly until the end when the final battle with the Institute was required, or at least the way I decided to go. I did manage to complete the main quest while retaining allied status with all three remaining factions; Minutemen, Railroad, and BOS. Though I did get a quest to attack the BOS by one, I can just ignore it. This keeps my quest options open for now. Sure there are bugs and issues with building, and the faction quests do get boring and repetitive, and once your done with the main quest, it becomes more of exploration, and for me getting the perks associated with the companions topped out. I hope the DLC is good and improves on the play-ability of the game. For me, I got my monies worth out of it and really enjoyed the versatility of game play. I think the building was the key hook for me as if it was just a point and shoot game, it would not have kept my interest. Expand

I'm a huge Fallout fan, although there are some problems with Fallout 4, it is amazing and probably the best Fallout iteration yet. I miss the Rpg elements from the last games, but I would have easily paid twice what I did for this game. Bethesda is by far my favorite game studio, keep up the good work.

I honestly find this to be one of the best Fallouts because it fixes some issues that I had with the previous ones but it does do some things wrong (like every Fallout). Fallout 4 brings the best combat and crafting in the series while bringing an excellent open world with a really interesting story with great characters and factions that bring shades of grey. The one real problem that Fallout 4 has is just because of the feedback that Bethesda got before it's launch. Bethesda obviously tried to make it similar to Fallout 3 because before Fallout 4 came our it was praised as the best Fallout. Now that everyone got what they want they're unhappy. But I do agree that Fallout 4 should've had a deeper RPG system. If Fallout 4 had deeper RPG mechanics it could possibly be the best Fallout in the series. But due to it having the weakest RPG mechanics in the series it is held back. I feel like 1 mechanic doesn't define a game. It still is an RPG with big decisions. People tend to over look the fact that you are 1 person and some how you have the power to push an entire army into victory costing the lives of other entire armies. That is a dramatic change in the world how has that been over looked? The one other problem I have with Fallout 4 is the lack of side quests. There is a great main story and great side quests but there aren't as many LONG side quests as in previous titles. I still love these games and I hope that Far Harbor brings what the community wants because that's all Bethesda has been trying to do. Expand

The main story is not a particularly strong one, but when I play a Fallout game, I just like to explore these new worlds more than anything else.

Finally, don't let the haters decide for you, because in reality, some of them probably still like playing it. If they really hated it THAT much, then they wouldn't be as invested in the game. You can bet that many of them still hang around for new DLC and Mods.

Before I jump into what I loved, I want to go into my dislikes first. The start of the game is just not what I hoped for, it was too short before the bombs fell, even though that intro scene gave me goosebumps, the rest just left me wanting more out of the pre-war world. I mean imagine having the feel of going to concord or something without the missing walls and dead people everywhere, and Preston telling me about another god damn settlement. It would create this impact of going into it later when it is all destroyed, or having a flashback of shopping with your family there, it would have created this much deeper feeling of rescuing Shawn and fighting for my partner, this is my biggest con of the game, a weak start. However, this in no way shape or form resembles the middle and end, finding Shawn had me feeling mixed emotions, with a strong entrance to the plot twist, that was fantastic, and the ending, mine being the minutemen had me standing tall as I created this army, and destroyed the institute. That is where the game succeeds, along with its strong combat mechanics and extensive amounts of perks to use at my will. I have not yet played as a female character but from what I have heard the voice actor is great, and that's another pro for fallout 4, the game now has a voiced protagonist, I was on board with this from the start and it is safe to say Brain T Delaney did a stellar job on being the lone wanderer, the tone of his voice made the experience so intense and I loved it. All in all fallout 4 did its job in being an rpg and personally made me love the fallout universe even more so than I did with fallout 3 and NV. 9/10 easily, if anyone has for whatever reason not picked up, trust me the money is worth it, it is without a doubt my favourite game of 2015 Expand

Here is what I love about this game:

    - I loved its open world, straight after the vault you can go anywhere in the world

    - So many places to go to, on my first run through I went to about 1/20 of all the locations, so much to do it always brought me back

    - The unique guns in this game, The Cryolator, The Gauss rifle, Every gun felt special

    - I loved the conflict in the story, Deciding who to side with and who is more evil than the other

    - The perks, I love them, I like how many there are and how just a little change can completely change how you play

    - I liked how once the story ended you could keep playing, That makes it feel like you can accomplish everything in the world

    - The customization in weapons, Armour, Chems and power Armour, It felt like I could choose how I wanted these items to feel and they really did a brilliant job on this subject

Though I currently really enjoyed this game there were some downsides

Here is what I didn't like so much about this game:

    - The songs, They felt like 8 songs in 1 playlist on repeat

    - The mire lurks, Every time I saw them I was disappointed, I could take them down but they just didn't feel right, I felt like they had way to high damage resistant, even when shooting the inside of the shell

    - Though I loved the guns, There wasn't much variety, I felt like I was seeing the same guns every time I killed a raider or anyone/thing that had a gun

    - The way they handled the perk points, I feel like I will NEVER get all the perks, You have to be level 254 or something to get all of them and that makes me feel very sad as by that level you are just grinding

    - The speech options, Some times I had the intent of saying something but with the way the system of speech is right now I was saying the opposite of what I wanted, The should definitely look into how they handled this part as I was a let down for me finding out that speech choices rarely mattered.

    - The settlement system was a really good idea, But it felt like a gimmick, I never really used it as the way it was laid out and the way it was explained was almost non-existent, I felt like I couldn't connect with any settler as they had no personality or even their own names!

I really really enjoyed this game and I would highly recommend to buy this game, Long time Fallout fans may feel disappointed and I can see why, But I felt like this game felt right to me, and that's why I give it a 8/10 :)

When you walk out into the Fallout, there’s little to criticize. There’s just SO MUCH TO DO. With such an immense map and a surprisingly gorgeous wasteland to discover, there are endless possibilities. Fallout 4 shines in so many ways, similarly to Skyrim. However, it’s better. Why? Because it’s got guns baby.

Fallout 4’s campaign was something to behold. With these decisions you make, you ally with multiple factions. It’s up to you which one you want to side with. The decisions you make in this game play a large role in what you shape your character to be like and the campaign does not shy away from making sure you know you made your final decision. I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions with characters (except the Brotherhood of Steel, they’re a bunch of **** holes). The campaign ended with a “bang”, extremely emotional while satisfying. Fallout doesn’t need a multiplayer, the single-player is more than enough.

Now onto what to do after the long campaign. Truth be told, the campaign takes forever because it is so hard to stick to it when you keep getting addicting side quests. For instance, the Silver Shroud quest line. This game made me truly fall in love with the Fallout world. From building and stocking up my settlement to running around gunning down enemies, I never thought “what next?” There is always something to do and something to enjoy.

DLC: Automatron includes a mini story mode and, most importantly, lets you build robots! You can literally build walking tanks as your companions. THAT IS AWESOME. I loved how great this ended up and it made a great game even better. Wasteland Workshop expanded the sandbox for creating settlements and allowed the user to capture wildlife in cages. Deathclaw battles shall be happening soon. Along with that, more DLC is to be released and I'm excited to see what will come next.

My only true beef with this game is that it suffers from bugs. I found odd glitches and immense lag at times. These I'm sure will be addressed over time (or at least I hope), but to be a truly phenomenal game, it should be more polished. I also am a little let down by the lack of variety on some side quests. At first, it is fine. However, after a while, they start get repetitive and don't seem to add much. The prime examples are the Minutemen quests, where you literally go to one settlement and just shoot things, then report back to Garvey, then rinse, lather, repeat. Though, despite its downfall, it's still one heck of a game I enjoyed playing.

There's always something to do when you walk out into the fallout.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fallout 4 is a good game. But it's just that. A good game. It's not great, like its predecessors. It's just good. I found myself playing the game and I just didn't feel the same as I did when I originally played Fallout 3 or New Vegas. It just wasn't the same. The main quest did nothing for me. I had absolutely no attachment whatsoever to my characters spouse (whom I had barely known for 5 minutes before her death) or my baby son (who again I had barely known for 5 minutes before he was kidnapped). Then just as I thought I was about to rescue him, it was the biggest anticlimax I can remember from a game. Turns out he's now the big bad guy! Of course since it's a Fallout game you can choose to side with him, but hey guess what happens then? Yupp, you guessed it. He has incurable cancer and dies at the end of the game. I mean seriously Bethesda, what the **** You make me spend hours thinking I'm gonna be rescuing my kid to make him out to be the bad guy so I decide to side with him, but nope, that's not a good enough laugh for you, so you then kill him when I think we're gonna rule the commonwealth together? It's ridiculous. I mean what is even the point?

The companions are also rather crap compared to previous Fallout games, although it does mark the return of a canine companions (also called Dogmeat, obviously), and Nick Valentine, a synth detective, is a pretty cool guy to keep you company. The rest? I wouldn't even let them clean my toilet, seriously, they're that boring.

The graphics also aren't up to my expectations. Sure, they're better than New Vegas, but they're just not what you'd expect form a next gen game that's been in development for the past 3 or so years. Then there's the vast multitude of bugs and glitches. The amount of times I've got stuck in the floor, fallen through the floor, gotten stuck in a wall, had a dead enemy floting in fornt of me etc. is just insane. Again, with a next gen game you'd have thought these errors would have been more minimal than in the previous titles, but nope, they're just as pronounced here.

It's just, after 5 years I was expecting something more, you know? I mean, yes it's a good game, yes there are some improvements to the graphics, your character is now voiced, the crafting system is 100 times better, the shooting mechanics are vastly improved, and it is a Fallout game. But I was just expecting greater things. I guess I just got too hyped and was disappointed when it didn't meet my expectations, but there you go.

The premise of the game is a nuke goes off and before it goes off you are invited to join a vault, just for precautions. The nuke goes off and you, your wife, and your son get frozen in a cryogen container and fall asleep. 200 years later you wake up and see your wife get killed and your son gets kidnapped by the people who created the vault, then you fall asleep again. When you wake up the land is destroyed and animals and people are infected. It’s the apocalypse. You have to get food and water, build resources and buildings. You’re the main character and you do missions and try to find your son that was kidnapped.
This game is super fun, I love how you can modify your weapons and make them to your needs, not the needs of the game. You can put different sights on your gun. Also, you can make it better, so it has better damage, ammo clips, grip, etc. You can make it so it has a different paint job. Or make it shoot a different way. Modifying your gun the right way will make playing the game a lot easier.
You can create your character, and you can control how big or small he or she is. You can pretty much make him or her however you want, it’s pretty fun. You can make him or her whatever race you want, you can make him or her have whatever scars or color hair or eyes. It took me an hour to create mine. You can also pick your name. Creating your character is a really good part about the game. Also, at the beginning of the game you get aspect points. Beginners, experts, anyone, at any level can control their strength, perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, agility, and luck for the game.
Another fun aspect of this game is having a dog, especially because it can’t die. The worst it gets is that it won’t be able to attack enemies. Also you can give him armor. You can also get different species of dog, like a german shepard or a bull dog. Some breeds are better than others. Some breeds do more damage, some smell better, or can sniff out better items.
The graphics in this game are amazing. The picture on the right is exactly what the game’s graphics look like. The reaction time is also amazing. If you made this game’s graphics any better than it would look just like real life compared to older games.
This game has more advanced technology and weapons in the game compared to real life. You use things like laser rifles and battle armor very advanced stuff. In the battle armor you are way more protected than just out in the open. You can drop from a building and barely lose any health.
This game is rated M. Only because of language and it’s pretty scary, considering all of zombies popping up. It’s mostly dark so that adds to the zombies being scary. It cost somewhere between $50-$60. You can play on Xbox One and PS4. I really recommend this game, it is really worth the money.

Think of it as an open world Action RPG with a greater emphasis on being an open world game. This isn't Fallout 3, this isn't Skyrim with guns, this is Fallout 4. It's a totally different beast that becomes more fun to play when you come to terms with the fact that it isn't a pure rpg.

OK, to be fair, I read many of those reviews, so here is a rebuttal to some of them:
-graphics: if you only play games for snazzy graphics at the expense of everything else then you probably loved the dumb later FF series where you push a button or two to watch a bunch of cutscenes.
-gameplay: the game is huge. Huge. Folks who played for "seven hours" are truly not giving the game a chance, as 7 hours means you didn't manage to open ANY of the interesting quests and storylines.
-dying too much: learn to play an RPG n00b.

This game is a mashup of a town-building minecrafty game with an RPG/shooter, set in as open a world as they could make it but still ensure there is a story line. In order to get anywhere, you need to go slow, finding stuff you can use to get better armor weapons etc., all the while levelling up your character.
I am over 75 hours in, and have barely touched the main story, being busy building up an infrastructure of settlements, where you take control and build everything, from walls/turrets/defenses, to houses (complete with furnishings decorations etc), from the floor up. I loved the idea of these two disparate game styles coming together so well, and Bethesda did a great job on it.

The moral depth to the story is excellent, and none of the 4 factions are truly good or evil, which makes some endgame decisions all the more difficult. This game, despite appearing at first to be an FPS, is not an FPS. Despite the mainly first person view and the abundance of firearms, any comparison to CoD are completely misunderstood. The best aspects of the game lie away from the combat and with the immense depth of story and detail is this barren yet vibrant game world. Expand

The story is very good so far but if I had to pick one thing to give credit to Bethesda for in the story it would be the pacing. In some giant R.P.G's. with very long stories the pacing can be a bit slow at times but the pacing in Fallout 4 is spot on, has you interested and having fun the whole way through. The world, as always is fantastic, so is the atmosphere. The almost intact skyline and city of Boston is fantastic. It has the feeling, the humour and the darkness a fallout game should have. There is the usual junk and item scattered everywhere, with thought about where they are placed, even if they are not at all important. In addition, EVERY junk item in the game can be scrapped for part to use in the new crafting system.
The crafting system is brilliant. There are so many weapon upgrades and combinations, you can make practically anything with the right resources and perks. The new power armour mechanic is brilliant, and makes you feel like you are a walking tank, like it should. Power armor can also be modded in a variety of ways. What other game lets you walk around in a bright pink human tank with a rocket powered sledgehammer?
VATs is as good as ever. Aiming has been improved from other fallout titles and feels less, but still sufficiently clunky (as in my opinion it should).
The main story-line is strong, with kind of two parallel but linked main quests. I can usually predict plot twists but i genuinely did not see the one in this game coming. There are a decent amount of side quests, not quite on the level of the previous games, but still enough and interesting.
The settlement feature I loved, especially with the add-ons. It was a great part of the game, tedious at first when you have little resources, but once you get the perks and materials, you can build amazing things.
This game will not be for everyone. You NEED to invest in it, you need to be patient. If you spend the time levelling up your character, exploring the wasteland and immerse yourself this game will just keep giving. If you like to rush through a game, complete the main quest and a few side quest then move on, you will miss the best parts of the game. This isnt COD.

This atmosphere is what is known as Fallout 4, and the Fallout universe as a whole follows this same formula. Fallout 4 has its ups and downs like any other game, improving upon certain mechanics, while also leaving out other mechanics that are pivotal to the Fallout universe. The world is huge, allowing for the Indiana Jones in you to jump with glee as you explore various places, collecting loot to upgrade your weapons, armor, and even build structures for certain places. Or of course you can also sell whatever you grab as well, if that takes your fancy. The graphics are a bit watered down in certain areas, and the wasteland as a whole all looks the same from the exterior side of things, but all in all the game does look gorgeous. The weapon and armor system do allow for upgrades which increases the amount of options players have when approaching certain situations, but the lack of base weapons in general is noticeable when compared to the amount of weapon selection that Fallout New Vegas had. Quests are a bit linear, simply sending the player to pick up this at this , or to kill a person to save this person from death, but that is concerning mostly the side quests, not the main quest line which is diverse and fun to traverse at least the first time around. The Pipboy side of things has pretty much remained the same as past Fallout games as well, allowing the player to manage their inventory, do their quests, tune in to radio stations across the wasteland, among various other things. When it comes down to it, if the player wants a huge world to explore, a bunch of quests to do, quite a bit of weapon customization, and plenty of people/creatures to interact with, then Fallout 4 is the game for them, even with its certain flaws. The game was quite average out of the box but made brilliant by the addition of mods on the Xbox. Thanks to Beth and the awesome PC community that have really made this game rock. I was able to correct those little annoying parts of the game that stopped short my enjoyment. Things like timescale, radio stations, enhanced blood textures, weather, moon replacement, smoking, layered armor over all clothing, darker nights, campsite, shelf clutter, shotgun, desert eagle and chinese rifle, reverb audio etc have all made the game fantastic.

Moving on from Washington Beth have given us a Boston take on the post apocalyptic life, hunting in the ruins of a fallen world and struggling to survive. Well, that is how it should work, except we can also level our character 100 times and turn them into a demi-god. Lol.

    Pros-
    Nice game world to explore
    Mods
    Fun combat
    New upgrade system for weapon/armor
    Locations respawn
Balance of weapons and gear is much better than FO3
    Far Harbor atmosphere is awesome
    Super Mutant suicider
    Folllower quest stories
Rain audio changes when under shelter
No rain through solid objects. Finally!
    Power Armor is well done
I like the way radiation lowers health bar
The freedom of choice to role play and ignore quests

    Cons-
Only 2 gig of mod space.
Too many fetch and carry quests
    Creature texturing is too smooth
Condensed map and low number of satellite towns
Disappointing radio stations. Both in songs and number of stations. Crap!
    Season pass was a rip-off
Followers block you every time you walk slowly
    No centaurs!
    Shotgun/combat rifle use same skin
Minutemen lore and quests were connected to settlement building

The Bethesda style of story writing is something I will not comment on as the quests are only a reason to travel across the map and explore. The game is all about role play and exploring. People can rightfully complain about it but that is the truth. And no doubt my high score comes from me loving the Beth style of freedom and exploring for hours on end.

I enjoyed the voice dialogue as the female voice over was really well done ( I have not played a male yet) and I would be happy enough to see it return again. But, Beth, please, not in Elder Scrolls. A male and female for every race would be overkill. Written dialogue is fine.

I was also happy enough with the settlement building as that was one aspect I always wanted to do in FO3 but never got a chance to do so. Waaaay too much DLC was dedicated to settlement building though. I really hated that.

The only DLC I have not played yet is Nuka World. I was hoping that we could join and play an evil faction but reading the reviews I am not sure that they pulled it off well.

My game crashed to the start up menu probably once every 10 hours of gameplay so that is something to consider if you install too many mods on the Xbox. It was worse in the downtown area with all the extra textures it has to load.

Game Content- 9 out of 10
Fun Factor- 7 out of 10
Overall Rating- 8 out of 10

I would only have rated Game Content 7 out of 10 without mods.

I'm a total fan of Fallout, but this one has disappointed me a lot. Compared to Fallout 3 and New Vegas, it loses almost everything despite being a next gen game. And they have incomprehensibly decided to eliminate many of the things that made this saga great.
Of the bugs I do not even speak ... just say that I've had them of all types:

Sudden expulsions to the menu losing the progress you have not saved, hang up the game that made me turn off the console, missions that do not start, continuous failures in the map marker (with what that means in a giant map like this) failures in the Nuka World DLC that prevented me from finishing it, etc etc etc ...

Conclusion: in this way Bethesda loses loyal customers who feel deeply disappointed.

Fallout 4 is an extremely fun game to play with interesting story line, enjoyable quests and amazing DLC. I definitely feel it was worth its 60 CHF price tag, it kept me entertained through its replayability going through the different factions storylines and the very good DLC. Adding mods was also a great step that meant people could enjoy the game in even more ways.

Perhaps I got lucky but it ran surprisingly well for a Bethesda game. Despite this, the game was very lacklustre in terms of story, gameplay and dated graphics. I was a huge fan of Fallout 3 and New Vegas but Fallout 4 just left me feeling disappointed. Bethesda’s strengths have always laid in exploration and world building but even the world of Fallout 4 became tedious after a few hours. Returning to this game years later to give it another go, I find that it is now completely unplayable on the Xbox One. Searching for answers online, it seems that back in 2018/19 Bethesda launched a vast amount of compulsory “updates” based around Creation Club (a feature most people never even wanted or asked for) which completely broke the game and introduced a wide array of crashes, particularly in the downtown Boston area. Not only did they break their own game, they then proceeded to abandon it shortly afterwards meaning they have left a shell of a game on the original console it was launched on. Let this be a warning to players before deciding on picking up any other future Bethesda titles. Those who have never experienced this game before, I highly recommend you give it a miss on Xbox as its current state is unplayable and Bethesda are very unlikely to ever return to fix what they broke. Although, for those who have never played it before, you’re not really missing out on anything. There are far better role playing games out there including ones set in a post nuclear apocalypse. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Continuing on with Bethesda's control over the license of the Fallout franchise is their third dive into the world, or in this case, the fifth main title, Fallout 4. Faults with the first attempt at Fallout, such as the poor, drab graphics, repetitive textures, lack of weapon variety, and simplistic morality system have been fixed in Fallout 4, albeit, bring new problems of it's own. The world of the Commonwealth is seamless and has a emphasis on huge and expansive: roads actually look like they were once driven on, especially the sprawling highways and overpasses that hang over places like Boston or Lexington, instead of Fallout 3's single car overpass and highways that go to nowhere for no reason. Attention to detail was this games main focus, from the details inside and outside the buildings, to the ammo, the weapons, and the armor, giving them a more practical look that coincides with their ammo type. As for said weapons and armor, they have expanded through means of the crafting system, expanded upon the weapon mods from Fallout New Vegas; you can add powerful recievers, silence weapons, add beam splitters, and change the fire rate of certain weapons, as well as adding extra buffs to your armor as well. The same goes for Melee, although to a lesser extent. Armor components also deride on different parts of the arm and legs as well, rather than just simply being an outfit and a helmet from FO3. Which brings me to the Power Armor.

Power Armor by far has been the most changed aspect of the previous game, now serving as a sort of 'Gundam Suit' rather than a heavier variant of the Outfit/Helmet set from FO3. You can add different parts of different power armors, from the weak T-45A to the most powerful X-01 power armors. Not only that, but like with basic armor components, you can add extra buffs based on what materials you have as well as what paints are available, which brings me to crafting. Collecting useless junk is actually useful compared to FO3, which only served to increase your cap rate, which by the way, has been balanced quite well in this game where you won't have 900,000 caps and nothing to spend them on. Shipments, ammo, guns, trading shops will all drain your cap amount significantly where you will have to consolidate said resources, so looting areas doesn't become a matter of collecting that one unique from said area.

Although, here comes the first big negative. The Settlement System. Now, the settlement system was a good idea at the start: give you the opportunity to make civilization thrive again, but the micromanagement of 20+ separate settlements with settlers who will never be satisfied no matter if you have 5 different medical stores to keep happiness up, so you will be running from pillar to post to expend all your junk and caps to make more pointless stores to keep that arbitrary happiness meter up, assuming it works. The settlements in question glitch a lot, as some places will show up with unexplainable triangles on certain things, or inexplicably have no water or food resources despite the contrary. The Minutemen questline focuses on this heavily as a result, so if I were you, I would suggest avoiding this, as this will be the main crunch of your time, if you want to get right into the story.

As for the story, it is ambiguous in it's morality system, as it doesn't hit you over the head with basic black and white statements: The institute is well off but isolationist and distrustworthy of life above the surface; The Brotherhood is powerful but otherwise opportunistic and militaristic in their control; and the Railroad wants freedom for all synths, at the great risk of said synths becoming raiders and terrorizing otherwise peaceful settlers. Minutemen is the only faction that will warrant an overall 'good' ending, as you only need to sacrifice one of the three main factions. It's a shame that the story does get heavily sideswiped by the intense focus on settlement building. As for the NPCS in question, there are positives, and negatives.

NPC dialogue is a lot more fresher in previous installments, as I never came across an NPC with the same voice other than the same generic NPCS like Raiders or Settlers. Dialogue sounds more authentic, rather than a bit blocky or unaware, but ultimately, the dialogue wheel and making the protagonist actually speak was a mistake. It limits the ability to branch your character off in different ways, or find inventive ways to convince said NPCs or companions, although, Morality is not based on a meter and actually feels authentic as well, as you can feel the decisions you make affect others around you based on the affinity system, as well as making said choice felt throughout. But the dialogue wheel, combined with the streamlining of the leveling system to strictly a perk system, do limit your player choice as Charisma is the name of the game, as you will be able to pass all speech checks, gain all settlement perks, and woo any companion.

I couldn't finish it because I lost direction of the main quest and got sick and tired of rescuing the settlers. (I absolutely loved Fallout: New Vegas and even though it was open world too it made sense.) Inventory control was just so tedious and painful. I found someone's flow chart of the main quests, faction quests, side quests, etc. and how they tied together and the complexity sickened me. Felt happy when I accepted that I just wanted to quit--and did. With an average user score of 6.2 this game is a loser. Also...I picked Nora and wanted to rescue her baby. I've been playing fallout since the first one launched, 4 is my favorite in the series. Sure, the dialog got a bit gimped. Sure, the writing is kinda weak at times. But it's got the best npcs (Nick and Hancock being standout characters, and Nick being the first companion in fallout history to get his own dlc) and when it's good it's incredible.

Don't listen to the people telling you "if this is your first fallout, play 1. 1 aged terribly, and fallout fans are famous for absolutely hating the most recent game. It happened to 2, it was too casual and silly. It happened to 3, it was 3d. It happened to new vegas, it was a broken mess at launch. It happened to 4, "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle. Not a real ar pee gee!" It's happening right now to 76 because 76 actually is a dog turd wrapped in 50s americana. And like the criticism of 2, 3, and new vegas, the backlash about 4 was totally overblown.

The combat is vastly improved, having an almost COD feel about it. While that may be a negative to some, it's a positive for me since it adds fluidity to the combat and even the feeling of just walking around. The map in this game is fun with many places to explore and many enemies to fight. The graphics are a vast improvement to the prior two games (Fallout 3 and New Vegas), especially coming from playing those games on the console only. One of the bigger additions to the game was the addition of a voice actor to the protagonist. I thought it added a bit of depth to the game and story. Speaking of which, the story was pretty good, maybe not as good as Fallout 3, but it didn't bore. One of the positive aspects for me was the ability to continue playing after the completion of the main story, which was a big gripe I had with Fallout New Vegas. Some of the things I didn't like about the game as much had to do mostly with the power armor updates. It was cool that they added new features to the power armor from the previous games, but having to get fusion cores for the armor to actually work, was a bad idea in my mind. While some may not like the deletion of the morality system (and I am one of them) and the wear of the weapons and armor, I have to say that some ideas are better than others. After putting more than 85 hours into this game, I came to the conclusion that it is a well made game that kept me entertained for hours on end, and it didn't have as many flaws as people made it sound like. However, on Survival, I have lost countless hours of gameplay due to the constant crashing (which is seemingly ubiquitous across all platforms). For the record, I don't use any extra content apart from Bethesda's own official DLC and, as a somewhat technically savvy person, I have spent many hours trying to put an end to the constant crashing. Albeit, in vain. The game is a mess and since it is almost six years old, I very much doubt the crashing is ever going to end. Therefore, I strongly recommend that you avoid this game. Expand

On the positive side for me, it is a vast open world and you are pretty much free to do as you please. The first person view & controls are decent but I cannot get used to some of the button assignments on the controller. Graphics to me are reasonable. I don't think having higher resolution garbage/waste to look at would improve things much. Many weapon styles to choose from and to some degree you can tailor your perk points for different styles of play. I have been basically crash free and the quick save feature is nice (if you remember to do it once in a while).

Where it falls short to me:

    * NPC's are awful (to look at, talk to, listen to)
    * Inventory management overwhelms play time
    * Weapon mods improve weapons well, but renames them and they are lost in my pip-boy (see item above)
    * The naming of armor,/weapons in general makes it a chore. All names start with adjectives instead of nouns.
    * Interacting with NPC's generally requires spamming the 'A' button (or more patience than I have)
    * My character is a complete dork and generally looks like a fool in his mismatched outfit of junk
    * Romance option? With these NPC's?
    * Monetary system (caps) seems pointless. I never seem to actually buy or sell anything.
    * Really don't care for the old style dumb terminal pip-boy/computer interface (map, inventory, hacking, etc.)
    * Just too gray, dark, dismal, littered for me.
    * No rhyme or reason to damage levels. A big mosquito should not survive multiple .50 cal. sniper hits.
    * What actually is the main story? To recover my son that I bonded with for 13 seconds?

Well, 7 months later with countless updates, 3 DLC packs, and mods finally coming to Xbox One i can happily say that Fallout 4 is a phenomenal game. Never in my entire life have i had this much fun with a video game. To start off, 2 of the 3 DLC packs are actually worth your money as they are damn good. Wasteland Workshop on the other hand is only good if you enjoy building settlements. Anyway, the two packs that are good Automatron and Far Harbor stand with previous expansions such as Lonesome Road and Point Lookout as the most enjoyable DLC packs we have been given. Console mods are the main thing that hooked me back to this game as i can finally experience what PC players have been bragging about for years now. I can now finally run across the Commonwealth wielding a lightsaber with a trusty Behemoth companion by my side. Anyway, everybody who gave this game a low score (0-5) should honestly give this game another chance.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fallout 4 is an excellent game. The graphics, sound effects, music, open world environment are fantastic. But, it struggles to be an excellent 'Fallout' game. The problems that this game faces are not easily spotted unless you have played previous titles. And it is through comparison that the issues creep in.

The number one issue is by and large the dialogue. Not what is actually said, having played over 25 hours so far I have heard enough of it to see it as 'ok', but rather how it fits into the setting and story. Your character, unlike in previous titles, is completely new to the world. (Thawed out of a cryogenic tube 200 years after the nuclear war and released into a completely new and destroyed world). But through the dialogue with both major and random NPCs your character is barely fazed by any of this. The dialogue options occasionally point to a 'what are super mutants/gunners/brotherhood?' option if it has been mentioned by an NPC but your character isn't fazed by anything that is said and it takes you out of the setting because your character already knows what is/has happened and characters met before they logically should. Furthermore, the dialogue options force you to take the 'good guy' approach to almost all situations with the 'bad' option essentially ending the conversation till you agree and the other two, more info/sarcastic, options adding nothing.

My second issue, is the combat. There is so much combat in this game! Dialogue, quest, randomly walking through the wasteland all you do is constantly fight people. You never get a sense that you are in a post-apocalyptic world, rather a random destroyed city with roaming gangs. Gouls for example, the mutated remnants of those not lucky enough to find a Vault to hide in, aren't found in dark subways or tunnels away from people but walking around in broad daylight, randomly, everywhere, just so you have something to kill on your way to the next quest.

Other things such as perks being completely removed, useless companions, crafting (although fun especially with weapon add ons) gets frustrating for lack of materials and more fetch and kills quests than you can shake a stick at make the game a dumbed down version of previous titles.

If this is your first Fallout game you'll love it which is why I gave it a 7 and not lower, but for veterans it will be nothing more than a nostalgia trip, ticking the boxes of deathclaws/power armour/vaults/gouls and so on (all of which you'll find within the first 30mins completely ruining the anticipation of bigger/better enemies/gear to come).

Overall, fun, even for vets, but empty your brain first, newbies with enjoy a lot . . . 7/10

Is this the best Fallout game? No. Is this the best RPG Fallout game? No. What it is, is a very well designed open world fps, to be completely honest. There are some minor RPG elements here and there to keep it in the category, but most RPGs these days are significantly dumbed down.

    Positives:

    - Great and expansive open world
    - Excellent gunplay mechanics (You can finally aim down sights reliably)
    - Fun settlement building system (better with mods)
    - Good character building system (perk chart)
    - Good DLC content
    - Replay value
    - Some great characters
    - Expansive mod list (Xbox & PC only)
    - Fun to play

    Negatives:

    - Dialogue wheel is just unnecessary with limited options
    - Story is weak, along with some of the characters, especially yours
    - Missing some major rpg elements
    - Repetitive side quests (shut up preston)
    - Typical rpg bugs and crashes
    - Mehh graphics

Overall, IMO, Fallout 4 is a worthy successor to NV in the fallout series. I do not believe it is better than New Vegas, but it is certainly worthy of carrying the name. A good effort overall by Bethesda bringing the series to the next gen consoles and hopefully the next instalment will include more rpg elements with the positives of this game, because that would be an amazing product. Something to build on for the future. 83% = 8/10.

I enjoyed my time in fallout, and found the RPG aspects of it easy to use with a gigantic variety of choices and a lot of extra playtime and even replayability in this great game. Expand

Not a terrible game overall but not a good fallout game by far. Massively dumbed down mechanics, cut most RPG aspects, etc

its pretty and combat is fun tho.

I've been a big Fallout fan so far and I have played all the games (including Fallout Tactics which I liked a lot, too). This, however, is a step back. Many of the main story missions are designed like shooter levels. Where is the RPG I loved so much? Where there were many ways to complete a quest? Where every decision mattered? This game is lacking focus; I hope Bethesda will go back to the roots in the future. Expand

The Fallout game that could've been. This game had so much hype and had so much going for it, but it just wasn't fully there. of course I enjoyed playing it. I love the Fallout games. The story to this one was just too much and all over the place. They talked about the map and how big it was, 1/4 of it was the Atlantic Ocean, so there really wasn't much you could do there. With the recent advent of Fallout 76, I wanted to cover this game before I jump over to the next entry.

Let's get one thing straight with this entry, it isn't as complex as New Vegas or Fallout 3. However it does redeem itself with the game play. By far the best gun play since Fallout 3. The presentation is actually alright but nothing special compared to other games that came out

I heavily disagree with people calling it the worst Fallout game because Fallout Brotherhood of Steel exists and was once canon...

Overall, not a bad game but is heavily held back and can get repetitive once the main game is done. A great start for people interested in the Fallout Series but for veteran RPG players, it isn't a good option over New Vegas and Fallout 3, 2 and 1. Where Bethesda plans to take Fallout with Fallout 76 is still a mixed debate.

Fallout 4 is probably the best fallout game thats been made. It is definitely the fallout with the most features, the best graphics, and the most content overall. I love the edition of survival mode which adds additional difficulty and complexity to the game, making it truly feel like every descision you make while playing can have serious consequences. Its thrilling to run away from an enemy that would usually not kill you in a couple shots that you know might be able to one hit K.O. you and delete a chunk of progress. As great as the game is and as enjoyable as it is, it has some serious flaws that need to be addressed. The aiming feels clunky and its hard to be precise with your shooting, thankfully vats compensates for this issue but it definitely ruins some of the immersion. Additionally, even though this game has been out for about 3 years , it still is a bit laggy at times even though I am playing on an Xbox One X. Whats even more frustrating is that the game still froze for me once while I was playing , deleting an hour of gameplay since I am playing survival mode and can only save at a bed when there is one available. I got this game on launch and it definitely has improved since then, but at this point I expect the game to run flawlessly given 3 years of time and playing on an improved console. Overall, its an awesome game and really tons of fun, its a game you can easily get sucked into and lose track of time. Expand

Fallout 4 is a great RPG that builds upon its predecessors. The story is much more flexible and tries to bend towards the decisions of the player. I am a really big Fallout fan I started out playing Fallout 3 then played Fallout New Vegas and then I went on to play Fallout and Fallout 2. Really Fallout 4 was the first game I got for my PS4 and really thought it could be a really good Fallout game. Really I felt it was a little dumb down maybe for new coming Fallout players. Either way I kinda felt the enemies were made a bit too easy in fact there is a death claw very close to the start of the game that you just kill really easy, if this was one of the older Fallout games a death claw would really kill you and the thing is death claws were a bit more smaller than they are in this new Fallout game. Really and it's not just the fact that I hate the game just for one enemy I really felt they could do a little more to help out with the story of Fallout 4. There are a few things I like about this game like the fact that your health is now effected by how much radiation you take on so you have to keep your radiation low to make sure you keep in good health. Back in the older Fallout games if radiation got to 100% then you were dead and it didn't effect your health at all. I just feel like it makes more of a penalty for having radiation so you are more likely to avoid radiation. And don't get me wrong this game is good it's just not what it lived up to when it comes to older Fallout games. Expand

Like a vending machine named "Fallout" and you hit "Generate Fallout Game" button and out pops this. It's not a good game. I've never, not once, felt the desire to replay it.
Then, though I've never been dumb enough to play it, they did Fallout 76 and that sucked too. Is Bethesda dead? Only Starfield will tell.

I also love the look of Diamond City, and the whole map looks very fitting. Looting's great, and vats are better then ever. The DLC is very good, but a bit overpriced. Sometimes beautiful, a bit broken, and really quite brilliant in many places, forgiving fans will adore Fallout 4. [Christmas 2015, p.60]
  3. More Fallout 3.9 than 4, but still absolutely essential. Skyrim 2 has a hard act to follow. [Jan 2016, p.67]
