    Pretty good DLC. The best yet for Fallout 4. Up until now, Fallout 4's DLC was pretty mediocre. To keep this review short, this is more like Point Lookout than any of the other Fallout DLC, complete with even a trippy hallucinogenic moment. I'd personally give this a 9 or 10, but it was weighed down too much with annoying puzzle solving in the middle of the main quest. The first 3 or soPretty good DLC. The best yet for Fallout 4. I'd personally give this a 9 or 10, but it was weighed down too much with annoying puzzle solving in the middle of the main quest. The first 3 or so puzzles were fun but the last 2 were annoying and took upwards of an hour (!!!) to complete; not to mention the instructions for the puzzles were not very deep and it took a lot of trial and error to get through that part. I also thought there was a lack of loot. There's a neat power armor set, but really if you have an X-01, it's pretty much unneeded unless you just wanted the paint job. I also got a gun that I cannot find ammo for (lol). Seriously I've looked at all merchants and can't find any.

    I found the storyline to be fun and engrossing but the way it all ends was a little lackluster. I'm hoping there are alternatives, but I've only been through one run-through as of now, and the tougher enemies are pretty cool as well as a couple queen mirelurk battles. But it's not quite as massive as I had hoped it would be. i still made it through within 6 hours, whereas the last 2 DLCs were 2 hours or less. But it was nice to have a classic Fallout DLC pack that takes us to another world with a whole new interesting story like Fallout 3 and New Vegas had. Fallout 4 hadn't had one until now.    … Expand

    First things first this is a must have for anybody that has enjoyed playing Fallout 4. This dlc offers a ton of content in the form of a new game world that has around 30 marked locations, many quests, and a new story that involves 3 factions that are split on how the residents of the island should deal with the fog. The player must decide the fate of these 3 factions (far harbor,acadia,First things first this is a must have for anybody that has enjoyed playing Fallout 4. Their are side quests that will reveal more info about the island and its factions and it will help you the player make a more sound choice on what the fate of everyone will be. Make sure you also bring Nick Valentine with you as your companion as their is also a separate story with him and another new character in the dlc. A very enjoyable dlc with new enemies, factions, items, and an amazing story that may just be better than Fallout 4's main story!… Expand

    Much like the base Fallout 4 game, the Far Harbor expansion feels like a more refined and polished version of Fallout 3. For some people, myself included, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you enjoyed what the base game had to offer, then Far Harbor's addition of new areas to explore, new enemies, new weapons, and unique characters will give you one last (seemingly) compelling journeyMuch like the base Fallout 4 game, the Far Harbor expansion feels like a more refined and polished version of Fallout 3. For some people, myself included, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you enjoyed what the base game had to offer, then Far Harbor's addition of new areas to explore, new enemies, new weapons, and unique characters will give you one last (seemingly) compelling journey in the wasteland.

    While Far Harbor effectively implements dynamic elements of morality like the base game, it suffers from the same frustrating bugs and glitches that accompanied the initial journey through the Commonwealth. During my initial binge with Far Harbor, my game froze five times--two of which occurred during the most tedious portion of the main storyline. Due to my unhealthy amount of time spent on Fallout 3 & 4, these performance issues were easily forgotten once I engaged the next Raider camp in search of loot or slayed the next legendary monster in my lust for unique gear--although some more casual fans might become quickly frustrated with losing their progress due to sporadic freezes (Quicksave a lot!). Aside from these issues, Bethesda brilliantly designed the land mass of Far Harbor and, using the incessant radioactive fog in the Harbor, added a survival horror element that has been primarily absent from the series. Due to this radioactive fog, your rad levels will increase much more than in the Commonwealth. Before exploring the land mass, I suggest stocking up on Rad-x and RadAway. If you become severely annoyed with the rad level fluctuations, I suggest either using Power Armor or crafting armor with Rad resistance capabilities.

    From my time with the Fallout games, I've learned to do most of my exploring before completing the main story quest and my recommendation with Far Harbor is no different. I suggest doing the initial side quests available in the town of Far Harbor to attain some of the new weapons and apparel, then commencing on the exploration of the rest of the land mass, if that's your sort of thing. During my time in Far Harbor, I was able to advance my character by well over 10 levels and attain most of the new armor and weapons in the expansion--all of which were unique from the items I had received in the Commonwealth. Also, although Ada might have proven to be a reliable combat companion during the Automatron DLC, I greatly suggest having Nick Valentine as your companion during the main Far Harbor questline. To avoid any spoilers, I'll leave it at that.

    Although Far Harbor suffers from constrained dialogue choices and supplies much of the same gameplay mechanics and character relationships that were offered in the Commonwealth, I did enjoy the new experiences the DLC had to offer. Far Harbor is definitely a step-up from the first 2 DLC packages, but I would caution against overly high expectations. If scouring the Commonwealth was as stimulating for you as it was for me, then I definitely recommend the Far Harbor expansion. If you enjoy more traditional RPG titles and found Fallout 4's campaign to be somewhat vanilla, an expedition to Far Harbor won't be worth your time and money.    … Expand

    Here's a briefly semi-detailed non-spoiler summary for anybody scrolling through hoping to get a feel for the beginning:
    First things first, you'll need to have met and recruited Nick. If he's dead in your playthrough then you'll need to use a new character and progress to that point, which isn't really that far into the game judging about just an hour of actual real time.
    Getting into    Here's a briefly semi-detailed non-spoiler summary for anybody scrolling through hoping to get a feel for the beginning:
    First things first, you'll need to have met and recruited Nick. If he's dead in your playthrough then you'll need to use a new character and progress to that point, which isn't really that far into the game judging about just an hour of actual real time.
    Getting into it now, After you install Far Harbor and load up your gamesave, you'll be tasked first with listening to Valentine's Detective radio station (I forget the actual name but it's pretty obvious). Alternatively just round up Nick from wherever and head to his agency in Diamond City. Next his assistant will notify you of a missing person's report. The mission will begin and you'll head to the way-point. You'll discover a family residence and a couple asking you to find their daughter. After a bit of detective work you'll discover he departed to far harbor for certain reasons. So following about via about, you and Nick follow her trail. You pass the sign saying "Welcome to Far Harbor". In real life it would say "Welcome to Bar Harbor" and if you swim closer to it you'll notice that the elements of time an nature actually scaved away at the sign giving it the current appearance.
    (To reference the actual Bar Harbor check out the 4 images I'm going to post after this) You'll be greeted by the first group of people at a small fishing dock. This dock is Far Harbor. (So far, on the actual island, I've located over 30 locations and still haven't even found half of them, 4 of which are new settlements, so how about that one Preston!!!). Anyways, from this point on you're no longer considered the Sole Survivor. People on the islands call you Mainlander, New Guy/Girl, Stranger, Wastelander, and Mostly you'll be called Detective because now you are Officially Nicks Partner. Most of the Main Story Plots to this are related to Nicks deep past. From there on I'll leave you to discover the rest. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I honestly just gave like a total of 10 - 15 minutes worth of game time. BRING AMMO, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. Enemies will spawn accordingly to your current player level. At first it's baby steps for about 2-3 missions in. Then, holy hell. I'm level 212 (Not hiding the fact I used the copper glitch before they patched it to get from level 43 to level 130[something]) and I hard ass time avoiding death. Between fighting packs of Wolves, Salamander Raptors (Goupers as they're called), New types of mierlurks, New raiders, constant Rad exposure, traps, C.O.A., and much, much more dangerous things I'm not going into detail about, this is honestly such a rewarding DLC. I pretty much consider it to almost be it's own game. In full view, it's comparable to say it makes up about 3/4 of the size of Fallout: New Vegas. Lastly the art direction , atmosphere, in-game lore, and overall story is honestly a real overshot of what I thought it'd be. Best DLC of any game I've played in like the past 5 years. Almost nothing in it feels recycled from the core game. There's so much going on the you forget that this is still just fallout 4.    … Expand

    Finally the first DLC for Fallout 4 that is worth praising.

    First off, the atmosphere for Far Harbor is amazing. The combination of the eerie yet peaceful music, the constant fog, and the lighting makes you feel like you are traveling in a hostile environment that is full of hidden mysteries to uncover. This DLC also sticks to the theme of being a detective and throughout the majority    Finally the first DLC for Fallout 4 that is worth praising.

    First off, the atmosphere for Far Harbor is amazing. The combination of the eerie yet peaceful music, the constant fog, and the lighting makes you feel like you are traveling in a hostile environment that is full of hidden mysteries to uncover. This DLC also sticks to the theme of being a detective and throughout the majority of the quests, you are left to find out the truth of an issue that has been brought up.

    Speaking of the quests, the main quest is amazing and I actually enjoy it more than the main quest for the vanilla game. Be sure to bring Nick Valentine as he has a lot of dialogue options involving the quest. The ending offers a huge amount of choice and there is actually a chance to be evil if you choose to do so (I prefer to stay as a moral character). A lot of these endings are good in their own way yet there is no clear right decision to make at the same time, which I think gives much more depth to the story. Besides the main quest. the other side quests are also dynamic in that there isn't just one option to go about them. The Children of Atom quests are the best example of this.

    The three factions in the Far Harbor are the synths of Acadia, the people of Far Harbor, and the Children of Atom. They all have their own motives and plans for the island and tie into each other pretty well. There wasn't a single faction that I didn't enjoy in some way.

    The locations in this are great. I love the design of the nucleus, Far Harbor, the vault, and Southwest Harbor. A lot of these places actually feel separate from the vanilla game rather than copy and paste locations. The settlements are also good and offer quite a bit of unique objects to place down with lots of space if you are interested in that.

    The characters for this DLC are all developed pretty well, with the exception of a few. Nick Valentine especially gets developed even further than what he was in the base game. He now became my favorite companion as he was second before to me.

    The enemies for this DLC combine some old and new ones. The creatures are all unique in their own ways and one species is actually tougher than the deathclaws which is good as deathclaws were underwhelming in the base game. There is a generic raider group known as the trappers which are pretty much the same, but I dont mind it as they still fit into the DLC. The only enemy type I don't like in this are the super mutants and I believe they should have just left them out of this DLC.

    The items are all unique and the weapons are an upgrade to many of the vanilla rifles. There is also a unique fat man launcher. The armor is also creative and interesting, especially the marine armor which looks amazing.

    All in all, the Far Harbor is a worthy DLC for Fallout 4. It took me about 20 hours to complete the story and I still have areas to explore. It will probably take less for others though because I play the game slowly. Everything about this DLC feels like an upgrade to the original game and I feel like Bethesda is taking appropriate actions into fixing issues with Fallout 4. If you like Fallout 4 and want something new to explore, this DLC will not disappoint.    … Expand

    Not quite the Point Lookout follow up I was looking for and expecting, but still a fantastic DLC. Far Harbor adds a lot of new content to the game. It's new region is dark, gloomy, and filled with interesting characters locked in a compelling conflict. For all of it's new gear, enemies, settlements, and other goodies, where Far Harbor succeeds the most is where the main game stumbled;Not quite the Point Lookout follow up I was looking for and expecting, but still a fantastic DLC. Far Harbor adds a lot of new content to the game. It's new region is dark, gloomy, and filled with interesting characters locked in a compelling conflict. For all of it's new gear, enemies, settlements, and other goodies, where Far Harbor succeeds the most is where the main game stumbled; presenting you with real choices that carry weight and feel truly meaningful.

    The decisions you make in the story shape this new location in exciting ways. You're actually having an impact on it's future. To make matters better each choice is fully fleshed out. You'll learn everybody's motivations and ultimately decide how things play out for everyone involved. Given how the main game was lacking in this department, Far Harbor feels like a return to form for the series.

    As always the gameplay is excellent. Plenty of exciting combat encounters are to be found and the new enemies can prove to be tough beasts to bring down. Side-quests are plentiful and it's filled with plenty of rewards. Most of these rewards come in the form of new weapons and other items. Getting off the beaten path is still a blast given that your never really know what you're going to stumble up on.

    As far as the location itself goes, the new location carries a gloomier feel. Radioactive fog, worn down buildings, and plenty of swamps sell the island feel. However some returning structure types from the main game mean that this doesn't feel like a completely different area like most of Fallout 3's DLC did. Still, it's a pretty different area to explore from the main game.

    Far Harbor ends up being more than just more Fallout 4. It adds some meaningful new content and sees the return of compelling decision making to the formula. While perhaps not likely to pull everyone in who had qualms with other areas of Fallout 4's design, those who had issues with feeling like they weren't actually making an impact on the fate of the Commonwealth as far as the story was concerned are likely to be very pleased. Either way it's a fantastic DLC worth getting if you are looking for more of Fallout 4's excellent gameplay.

    So this is a decent DLC. The story is there, the new location is there and the added weapons and armour are there. Fans of the franchise will enjoy experiencing more Fallout content to be played around with. The only major fault that I could really pick out was the performance issues and because that affected the entire DLC, it was quite a big issue. but

    Il s'agit donc d'un endroit très hostile, froid et humide qu'on prend plaisir à parcourir (on avait besoin de vacances après les aventures sur le continent) et dont le "level design" est à citer en exemple :    Un gros DLC bien gras pour l'excellent Fallout 4 qui nous envoit sur Far Harbor, une île ravagée par les radiations avec son lot de tarés, de pauvres gens et de monstres...

    Il s'agit donc d'un endroit très hostile, froid et humide qu'on prend plaisir à parcourir (on avait besoin de vacances après les aventures sur le continent) et dont le "level design" est à citer en exemple : détaillé, délabré, escarpé et encore plus impressionnant avec les effets météo très réussis.

    L'histoire principale est remarquablement écrite, les surprises et les enjeux sont bien amenés et la fin qui propose 3 possibilités distinctes permet de satisfaire son appétit de vivre_ensemble ou de... vivre | séparément avec quelque ricanement sardonique sous cape (c'est ça l'esprit Fallout).

    Si Far Harbor est beau et glauque, si le patch Xbox One Enhanced nous propose un 4K net et précis avec les détails de la version PC, les ralentissements sont regrettables et souvent liés à ces volutes de broullard qui ne paient pas de mine mais font ramer le machin. Personne s'est dit chez Bethesda qu'il fallait trouver un autre effet ou du moins altérer celui-ci pour pas que ça cale ? eh bien non, personne.

    L'autre souci non négligeable concerne le "scaling" des ennemis encore renforcé ici et qu'on a déjà expérimenté sur d'autres DLC de Fallout 4 : ainsi, cette sensation de tirer avec un pistolet à bouchon sur des sacs à points de vie demeure éminemment pénible, d'autant que l'armure mange chaud et qu'on passe sa vie à la réparer et qu'on a pas que ça à faire... Contre toute attente, on finit par la laisser au vestiaire, puis on aborde les choses sous un angle furtif, bien plus efficace !

    Les trappeurs (les raiders du coin) sont à cet égard abusés et on hallucine de leur voir une telle résistance... putain les crevards, vu tout ce que je vous balance avec ma cracheuse, vous pourriez avoir le bon goût de crever plus vite que ça, bande de connaaaards...

    Quoi qu'il en soit -oh j'allais oublier de citer la musique inédite qui offre de superbes ambiances- Far Harbor est sans conteste le meilleur DLC de tout le saison-passe et une expérience estimable (malgré ses couacs) qui prolonge le voyage post-apo d'une fort belle façon.    … Expand

    This is without question the best fallout dlc ever made, and maybe the best fallout story yet! If you love blade runner and the questions it poses about what it is to be human you will find yourself right at home with this dlc. The story is interesting, mysterious, and philosophical. The island is mysterious, eerie, and full of fun surprises and new enemies. The new characters are great,This is without question the best fallout dlc ever made, and maybe the best fallout story yet!     Far Harbor has lots of new content and it’s great to return to Fallout 4. A dark, seedy, and just creepy island with a interesting back story only had me wanting to explore the world more and more.

    The setting for Far Harbor itself is not the most exciting due to its foggy nature and a generally dull and dark world. That being said, there's plenty here to keep you busy, interested and more than entertained for a good number of hours.
