Fans may enjoy the fast-paced action and emphasis on character building, but everybody else will be left scratching their heads at the outdated graphics and repetitive gameplay.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is a fun title on the XBox One but a little repetitive and is also showing its age.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is the most complete Dynasty Warriors-game ever made. Unfortunately, the game looks awful on Xbox One and it's extremely outdated, which doesn't make it the game we've been waiting for.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires breaks Omega Force's streak in releasing games that can change the minds of series critics. By reverting back to basics with so few modes, the title returns to something of a monotonous grind if you aren't playing as the kingdom leader.

The hack and slash side really can get repetitive while the strategy element is, for the unprepared, is downright scary.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires feels about as much of an afterthought as you can get. Nothing about this game feels evolutionary.

A false step for Omega Force, with a lacklustre technical production, bugs and modes scarcity.

Koei didn't change a thing to the Dynasty formula, and it's a shame. It's also unacceptable that the game still suffers from the same technical issues that were already known. This episode is supposed to give a tactical dimension to the series, but it doesn't really gain any gameplay depth.

It's a solid Musou combat well and it adds a fun Empire mode, and I can make my own Captain again! Its been awhile since i could do that and there so much going on. Is it for everyone, no, but for those who it was made for, it's a solid and fun title. Worth at least a try. Full Review »

If so, this game is for you. Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is outdated, repetitive, weird, and buggy... but there is nothing else like it available for Xbox One. It can actually be pretty fun.

The PS4 and PS Vita have gotten the lion's share of obscure / hardcore Japanese games and XONE owners have been left in the dust. With the customization options, RISK-like strategy, the layers of weapons, items, and stratagems... you can make DW8:Empires into something more than the sum of its parts. I have not been able to play online / co-op, but I imagine that might further increase the value of this game.

The fast hack n´slay action combined with strategic moments and the cool character building system are satisfying. But in the end the game is very repetitive and the series seems a bit stuck. But Dynasty Warriors fans will have their fun. Full Review »
