    This game definitely gives the Doom series a flair of its own - the light resource management combined with the relatively demanding gameplay distinguish Doom Eternal from other shooters in the market. The gameplay is crisp, and the engine is very well optimized. ID really is trying to set a new bar for smooth FPS gameplay and it shows.

    The combat loop is so good and when you master the quick swapping it is so rewarding but if you do not like quick swapping there is other alternatives also.

    The game is one of the most polished titles I have in my game library. It just works so well, incredibly optimized and has lots for you to customize (the HUD for me).     They turned a mindless shooter into something that requires brain power. Every weapon has a purpose and every enemy has a weakness. No clue how they are going to top this one. But they already topped Doom 2016, so you never know... This is some of Ids best work.

Once you're in the zone, quick cycling weapons, chainsawing minions and ripping and tearing everything in your way it provides and experience unlike any other. Recently been replaying it, and falling ABSOLUTELY in love with it all over again.     The real meat and potatoes of the game. All missions are great, combat is immaculate and very skill based. The difficulty increase since DOOM 2016 is a big one, but it's doable. As another reviewer once said, it's a fast-paced blood-fueled game of chess. You will constantly need to monitor your health, armor and ammo. Very rewarding combat, spectacular arena design, and superb graphics. 10/10

    Rip, and tear, until it is done my friends. Very fun and enjoyable, I have had issues trying to stop playing once I get started. The game is very very created and can be challenging for new people, recommended to start on nightmare on your first run to get the full game play experience.

    This is hands down the best game I have ever played. I have no complaints. I love fast paced, I love high precision fps GAMING, and I love deep combat systems to explore and grow on. I recommend this to anyone who is a hard fan of the FPS genre, and if you love faster paced games as well.

    Absolutely loved every second of this insane joy ride of a murder fest this game is. I had a very hard time putting this game down when i started played. The music constantly keeps you in tune with every shot you fire. If you haven't played this game yet then something is definitely wrong with you.

    Challenging but fun game, tests reflexes and tests your skill. Fun to play, but not too easy, you can toy around with weapons, codes, Armour, almost everything, it feels fresh. So many challenges and fun things to do in this game, I really like it a lot. The story is amazing, the multiplayer is pretty good and the overall game play is just astonishing.

    Pretty massive improvement over Doom 2016 from combat, traversal, levels and overall more fun/crazy game. I like how graphics are more like original games style. I did not like 2016 but I loved this one.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't give out 10/10's often, but this takes it away. The story does not exist, because it is a doom game. The game is about shooting and killing demons over a rabbit, so you shouldn't expect a final fantasy / kingdom hearts level of story. The first level starts off with an introduction on the game and basic mechanics. The chainsaw is introduced this level, which is a crucial part of the game to get you out of situations and get ammo. They also encourage the use of many guns by nerfing the good ones and buffing the bad. The Unmaykr, a special weapon is unlocked from getting good with all the mechanics and completing the optional challenges. There is less ammo storage, but easier ammo to get excluding the BFG-9000 and the Unmaykr. Moving on past the optional content, and the "story" missions get longer to test your skill. The multiplayer is okay, and better after the rework. The DLC post launch was amazing, and shows your mastery of the game. The crucible was a fun weapon, but the sentinal hammer is better. Amazing bosses. and then new weapons and mechanics for all the levels but the last 5 are amazing and makes the challenge of the game rewarding. Overall, 10/10 and I highly recommend it for anyone in their teen years or older.… Expand

    The port on next gen is top notch. Doom Eternal itself is simply fantastic and has love bursting at the seams. The movement is fluid and quickly becomes second nature. The campaign is endlessly charming, its level design pristine, and its plot compelling. Its peaks are sublime and plentiful, and the worst it has to offer is still perfectly competent.

    This game was incredible. Every aspect of it. Gameplay, story, graphics, music, atmosphere. All of it was spot on from Bethesda. The weapons are very fun, the glory kills are awesome, and the final boss hits is the cherry on top. By far my favorite shooter game of all time.

    Doom Eternal has come to be my favorite FPS in a long time. From it's beautiful visuals to it's flexible gunplay, Doom Eternal is a must-have. The story in this one is completely different than it's previous entry, tasking you to save the world (once again) from a demon invasion being run by the "Khan Mayker", who sent demons to invade earth to save their own planet. Of course being theDoom Eternal has come to be my favorite FPS in a long time. From it's beautiful visuals to it's flexible gunplay, Doom Eternal is a must-have. The story in this one is completely different than it's previous entry, tasking you to save the world (once again) from a demon invasion being run by the "Khan Mayker", who sent demons to invade earth to save their own planet. Of course being the Doomslayer makes it much easier, but it only gets harder from there. The learning curve here is a big toughie with all the amazing new abilities added to this game. You can now dash air dash, climb on rugged walls, and much more. Once you master all these new powers at your disposal, you'll be cleaning out areas of demons in no time! I really enjoyed playing through what might be the last entry to DOOM's reboot series, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a new FPS to play.… Expand

The running and shooting feels great (litle hiccups with some elements like props or wall shutting you off or too complicated level art that causes you to hit collision that you did not see). 9/10

    Visual : The visual is gorgeous. Perhaps some low points are reuse of some pieces around (like the mechas) or statues with some shader or materials that also could be improve in some places. Other than that, it is mindblowingly stunning. Animation is a treat. FX are awesome. Lighting is delightful. Environments are just crazy. 10/10 for visuals.

    Music : 10/10... jesus

    Cons :

    Overall I feel the game is too stressful. I feel I get PTSD each time I want to get back to play. It is even forcing me to take 1 hour sessions each time. In comparison, I was able to binge 2016. Can't do on this one. It is a con for people that just can't take dying alot and shooting their hearts out.

    Some features are just plain frustrating. The first time you play, ammo are just... a nail in the foot. You get around later with the battle patterns and using chainsaw on smaller mobs become's a reflex, but for a time, it is really annoying. The purple glue is frustrating in combination with big fights. The collisions around the pools are not clear, sometimes you get stuck trying to walk out. I would fix the collisions to ease out the player path.

    The regular punch.... god. It is by far the most low point of this game. Why model DoomGuy with huge biceps if it just to make him push demons around. Gameplay wise, it is a really frustrating change from 2016 where the punches felt great. Please change this.

    Alot of bugs on my playsession. I don't know how ultra-nightmare works, but 2 times i was forced to just reload last checkpoint. If you can't reload lastcheckpoint in that mode, I think it is a game breaker.

    I love the game, don't get me wrong. The little nitpicking shows the game high standard. Definitly a buy for people who needs actions and to stump demons around! RIP AND TEAR, UNTIL IT IS DONE!.    … Expand

    This is an absolutely phenomenal game. There isn’t a whole lot to say. It is very much like Doom 2016 with mostly good changes (and a few bad). I really like the gameplay loop here and after you get used to it and find your niche, I love how it really feels like you can outskill the enemies in most situations. You can upgrade your character and weapons to suit your playstyle and as always, there are plenty of collectibles to find along the way that make this easier.
    The only bad change things I can possibly think to say about this game is that the platforming sections just felt… off. It feels like a forced aspect to a game that didn’t necessarily need it. I don’t hate them at all, they’re kinda fun. They just feel out of place in a doom game for sure. Also (and this is kind of picky) this game functions based on you executing enemies when they are at low health and getting health from them to keep you going. The problem is, it is often times way too easy to kill an enemy too fast and miss out on that health. This results in awkward moments where you are just tapping an enemy with a weapon bullet by bullet until they trigger the execution prompt and the time wasted gets you killed, or you still end up killing them and missing the health anyways. It can be very frustrating at higher difficulties. But definitely not a deal breaker.
    Bottom line, this game is awesome. The music is killer. The gameplay is adrenaline packed. And it will make you feel like a complete and utter badass. You will probably be annoyed at times about some things but the good FAR outweighs the bad.    … Expand

    DOOM Eternal is simply a great experience from start to finish. It's fun but difficult, it looks great, it has unique locations, etc. My one big complaint is the lack of multiplayer and map editor. It would be a 10 if it not for the missing content the last game included.

    Strong contender for the best single player FPS ever. The combat is just unmatched in it's intensity and fluidity IMO. I also don't understand why so many people complain about the platforming, it's not perfect but pretty decent overall and it really helps to mix up the gameplay. A really DECENT art direction, at time gorgeous, that reminds me Barlowe´s Inferno artstyle, mixed with Sci-fi look. With a good taste on Lore content, the game offers a depth view of the extended DOOM universe, full of EasterEggs for fans and non fans.
    Gameplay was something i fear, no for the movement, but for the even more arcadish feeling of the trailers...specially with the addon of a more "guide-HUD" with colors and too much info on the screen at times...it can be a bit tedious and break your inmersion on the game, specially when you are figthing a group of demons, a new one appears and smultaneously there are collectives near...the screen gets of indicators and can hide enemys. BUT, it is a minor defect to pay, where the general game is an oda to old DOOM titles, specially DOOM 64. I love the fact that you now have to attack parts on the enemys, and their dismembrament, that gives Soldier of Fortune Nostalgia at times.

    All packed on a well optimished jewel IDthech7 engine.

    To end one big reccomendation: Be agressive with the little ones and attack frontal...but play more dash with biggers and use fast cover and shoot, jump, look for it´s back...remember, they are evil,but you will be worse.    … Expand

But that will normally have to wait till you've blasted your way through the demonic horde around you as you're thrown into intense combat sequences all the time.
    I've heard a lot of criticism towards the platforming and I find it totally unfounded. Grabbing ledges and walls works really well. You climb quickly, are able to throw yourself off a wall a great distance, swinging from poles flows really fluidly into the movement and you don't even have to press a button to do so. I found these platforming sections to be a nice reprieve to balance out the intensity of the stages, giving you a short time to compose yourself before being thrown into the next enemy encounter. I will say, before you're fully comfortable with the distances you can travel (given the extra jump distance when jumping from a climbable wall, and using the double dash) there can be times when it's a little tricky to instantly grasp where you're immediately jumping to next, but never found it an issue that stopped me for more than a few seconds.
    The game very quickly opens up the mobility aspect of the game more than ever, being able to double jump from the beginning and shortly into the campaign unlocking a double dash. Which used in combination with the various swing poles, and platforms will see you see you zipping around arenas at breakneck speed. Which you will absolutely need when faced with the ferocious AI which even on normal difficulty is deadly accurate, and constantly bearing down on you.
    Despite having all these acrobatic dodging capabilities however, you are still without question the most dangerous one on the field. The Doom Slayer's arsenal has been buffed with some new additions that give you even more ways to deal death to hell's minions. All new additions, the shoulder mounted flamethrower, ice bomb, Unmaykr, and Crucible blade, which is in my opinion the coolest looking sword ever and insanely powerful to match! All the weapons of Doom 2016 are back, with some of their looks redesigned, and in my opinion looking better than ever! The combat loop has changed, and requires a lot more thought than ever before, as to be effective in this game you'll need to be constantly switching between most all the weapons to enable you to take advantage of enemy weaknesses, keeping your health, armour, and ammo up by glory killing, flaming, and chainsawing the fodder demons, all while dashing and jumping around to dodge an onslaught of enemy attacks. I can understand why some people are finding this new system a bit overwhelming, it really cranks up the intensity to 11 almost every time you enter a combat area, and forces a more fast paced and complex play style than it's predecessor. But for those it clicks with, or those who take the time to get to grips with it, when you nail a combat area it really makes you feel more badass than ever! Dominating countless demons in a beautiful dance of death, unleashing such a vast array of awesome weaponry, all to the hardcore heavy metal master pieces of Mick Gordon, which once again fit the pace and style of this Doom perfectly.
    My biggest gripes with the game were the Marauder not being properly explained in the tooltip. You SHOULD NOT stay mid range against him at all (wait at far range, dodge an axe, and he will most always run straight to you and do a green eyes move, which knowing when it's coming makes it infinitely easier to counter), and also found the Ballista to be far more effective against them than the super shotgun, as is shown in the demonstration. Following it's advice led me to a lot of frustration, constantly eating attacks off them. I do still find the 'immune to damage' approach to enemy design a bit cheap, and quite contrary to Doom's overall philosophy. However once I learned how to approach him I did come to appreciate this enemy a lot more, how it's such a variation to the others and makes you have the think outside the norm. LOVE the visual design of them too.
    Overall just a magnificent game that I would gladly recommend to any shooter fan.    … Expand

That said, as you battle on Earth the dark and heavy feel of the game is momentarily swept away coutsey of a charming sounding female hologram who in her chirpy tone really sells the benefits of a literal Hell on Earth that I found entertaining to listen to and almost willing to invest in due to her confidence and charismatic pitches, but alas demons need brutally slaughtered, so on we push. Visually the game delivers and updates from it's predecessor, with redesigned demons and maps that are detailed and almost picturesque in a hellish sort way. Gameplay is great. The game pits you Humanitys last hope against the hellish demonic legions. Unyielding and relentless in their attack (and that's on easy) leaves you feeling the helplessness of the situation for the Human Race, HOWEVER, you are the slayer, with sickengly well polished and designed mechanics that I'm convinced somebody on the dev team sold their soul, the game may be fustrating and give you the odd game over, however it feels like it was your mistake rather than an op demon or some sort of bug that dammed your soul to the firey depth os satan abyss, loading back in making a few adjustments to your play, be it using another weapon, using more of the given map, using the flamer to get some quick armor or maybe being more liberal with the chainsaw use to get ammo. The game challenges you to play better that gives yoy a sense of accomplishment for pushing through. However I don't feel the journey is over just yet and the unrelenting army of Hell is going to lay quiet for too long. Overall: A must have for any FPS fan, needing intense focus this game won't play nicely with others. Even easy can be a challenge.… Expand

    You're basically always low on health, armor and ammo. You need to burn, blast, shoot and carve your way through a seemingly endless onslaught of enemies that feel as though they're a little too accurate. The combat can be very frustrating, but when you finally get through the challenge, you feel so good about the victory that the frustration gets pushed away. This game is NOT Doom 2016. Expect things to be Doom 2016's endgame difficulty at the start and it only goes up from there. It's very give and take and die until you win. The enemies have unique mechanics that (once you learn them) will make your life a lot easier. Once you get used to the resource management, enemy mechanics and using all of your mobility options all the time, the game really is like having hell on Earth.

    The storytelling doesn't have the same presence as in Doom 2016, or its predecessor, Doom 3. I think the narrative should have more presence, but let's face the truth. This is Doom. It throws you into the action and story is there as a side note. For those that are wondering why is Vega with you in your suit and your base? That answer is simple. In Doom 2016 when you destroyed Vega, you made a copy of him and put him in your suit. How did you get off mars? You're the friggin' Doomguy. You're a walker of Armageddon. You're able to go between Hell and Earth freely. The loopholes aren't really loopholes as much as they're people not paying attention. If you want the story, pay attention to the narrative, what Doomguy does and the codex. Playing Doom 2016 will help with knowing his backstory. Doom 2016 was a retelling of Doom 1993, Doom Eternal is a retelling of Doom 2.

    Overall, the game is amazing. Pay attention to everything and don't expect anything to handed to you. The game is an astounding take on Armageddon. I'm looking forward to what they do next.    … Expand

    Doom Eternal is an outstanding entry in the series marredby a few setbacks. There is a ton of content including one of the best shooter campaigns I have played this generation. The push and pull method of the combat is addictive to master and a blast to play. Everything looks and sounds fantastic and this is a game that makes me smile as a fan since the beginning. While the generation may be coming to an end, Doom Eternal is one of the games that will send it off with a bang.
