One of the best games for new consoles. Maybe even the best one. [Nov 2014, p.58]

Now, with the Ultimate Evil Edition on PS4 and Xbox One, Diablo 3 takes on its highest form, melding the successes of two years of patching with the positive side-effects of porting to current-gen consoles.

It's just a shame that some newcomers won't appreciate what the early adopters went through to make the fantastic game it is today.

An incredibly stuffed version of the hack and slash action game with RPG elements presents itself in the best light for the new generation of consoles. Tons of content, well-made controls and superb co-op.

The simple concept together with its motivating hunt for the bigger and better loot is a perfect fit for consoles – especially since there seems to be a drought in terms of classic hack-&-slay like Dark Alliance.

Long time players will easily get sucked back in to grinding for legendary loot, but the rest may well be mystified by the obsession. Still this is undoubtedly the version to get if you haven’t been sucked in before now and all the bells and whistles add to the overall appeal.

The gameplay itself represents the peak of the isometric "Dungeon Crawl" genre, with an amazing variety of settings, masses of loot to collect and trade for, and smart RPG elements seamlessly crafted into the adventuring.

I had read a lot of website reviews that said "this is the ultimate Diablo 3 experience," so I decided to give it another try. I must say, I keep coming back to this game week after week because it's just so much fun. The new(ish) Adventure Mode with the bounties is the perfect solution for what was previously very weak end-game content. I absolutely recommend this. Expand

I think this game just plays so natural with a gamepad. The inventory system is not perfect, but I'm not sure what else they could do to improve it. The changes that came with the Ultimate Evil Edition just make the game more enjoyable. Each player gets their own loot. The apprentice mode, which allow you to play with your friends even if they are a different level. The ability to import your previous console save is a great surprise. I do wish you had the option of importing your PC version as well. And there are a lot more great changes that I'm not going to bother listing here. Expand

I played it when the vanilla version released on the PC, but stopped after one solo playthrough because my computer couldn't handle multiplayer. I was shocked at how different the game felt when I came back to it on the XB1. Perhaps obviously, the most noticeable difference is you're playing with a controller as opposed to a mouse and keyboard. As others have said, using the controller just feels natural. But my favorite aspect of this game is how accessible it is. I love being able to turn it on and play from anywhere for 5 minutes to 5 hours, picking up right where I left off from my previous session. However, potential buyers should be warned that this game is highly addictive. Of course, not everyone will enjoy this type of game, but it is certainly worth a purchase in my opinion. Expand

I was practically forced in to playing this by my multiplayer buddy. It didn't appeal to me at all. Within about an hour of levelling up,I was practically forced in to playing this by my multiplayer buddy. It didn't appeal to me at all. Within about an hour of levelling up, collecting loot, discovering places and developing ridiculous abilities, I was 100% hooked!
This game is like a Hollywood version of a party game. it's impossible to comprehend just how addictive it can be without giving it a go. I'll be honest, I get a little bored playing solo but add 1-3 more adventurers and this game takes off. It's an absolute riot punctuated by cries of "I've levelled up!" and "I've found some legendary pants!"
The story is fantastic, the gameplay is brilliant and the game's longevity is boosted by the addition of Adventure Mode.
I don't know how this game compares to its PC counterpart as I've never played it, but I do know it plays fantastically on the XboxOne.
I can't give the game a 9 or a 10 because it's just not up there with my favourite games, but it certainly deserves a solid 8 and has probably been my most played game since I entered the next generation of consoles.
