    There are – and have been – asymmetric multiplayer games released over the years, with fairly middling results. Dead by Daylight has improved the niche by creating a product that balances simple gameplay with minimal downtime, and giving players plenty of depth to come back to again and again. It is – by far – the superior asymmetric multiplayer game to date.

    Dead by Daylight pays tribute to horror movies from the 80s. The asymmetric gameplay is just as fun no matter if we're playing the killer or trying to escape him.

    Dead by Daylight "dies" a little in this console version which features several translation problems and works as a poor PC port of the original game. Enjoyable if you play with your friends, but that's all.

    Dead by Daylight is a lot of fun once you get into a match, especially with friends. The tension of struggling to complete objectives while avoiding an invincible killer can't be understated. But the downright unfair difficulty for survivors can be discouraging, especially since you have to play a very long time to unlock useful perks to make things easier.

    This just feels like an all around sloppy port that was quickly pushed out to try to score some cash off of Friday the 13th's bungled release. The console version doesn't even include all the download content released for PC, including the Halloween DLC with Michael Myers. The mouse-like controls in the menus, coupled with the fact that most all the actions are mapped to the triggers and shoulder buttons, makes it feel like whoever ported this doesn't play consoles to begin with (thankfully you can remap the controls).

    Having played both Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th I thought I would write a review to help people decide if they should get it. The great thing about this game is that there are different killers with different perks and the people trying to escape are pretty unique. The downside is that every match plays out the same. You try to repair the generators or find the secret door (if you find the key) while being hunted by the killer. Unfortunately you have no way of fighting back and once you get found, and are in the monster's grasp, all you can do is try to wriggle free before getting put up on a hook. This game has less bugs being that it was released on pc over a year ago, but I don't find it nearly as immersive as Friday the 13th. I think I would enjoy it more if the maps were bigger and the generators didn't take so dang long to fix. That being said, it is still a fun game and is different from a lot of the multiplayer games out there. Although I have it on the pc I am thinking about getting it for Xbox one too!… Expand

Even the new tome challenges require an additional purchase if you want the good stuff. It’s a good idea BUT they continue to not address issues the survivor community has continued to bring up. Killers camp and tunnel for easy wins. Their solution to this? Let’s add more perks but not make it harder for the killer. They might lose a few points but that is it. They have not made nor apparently intend to make any improvements using suggestions in their forums because this is a “valid playing style” and in most of our opinions, more perks is not a good way to balance the game when it comes to this “valid playing style”. There should be other penalties like the generator repair speed increases based on the killers distance to a hooked survivor or something. Some killers argue there shouldn’t be any other changes to this but of course they would cause it just means they have to actually chase people and that would actually take some skill which is apparently too much to ask for on this kind of game and it would possibly cause their ranks to be more... accurate. I used to play the game religiously and now I find myself taking longer and longer breaks from it, and many I used to play with have done the same or stopped all together and refuse to play. It is now very killer sided which fine if that’s all the developers care about. However, the lobbies are getting slower and slower (and adding the game to gamepass did little for you it’s still very slow) which should tell anyone people are sick of the game and how it’s currently setup. So developers if you want to continue pleasing just the killers and that’s all you want to worry about then just an obvious reminder that without survivors there is no point for the killer and no point for the game to exist. The game will just slowly die out because you refuse to listen to anything the survivors say.… Expand
