This game is super fun. They went back to basics with building loadouts and unlocking weapons, and it really paid off. Ignore the people who automatically pan the game because its COD and its not hardcore and its not gaming and yada yada yada.

The campaign game seem fine, although I never much bother with the single player as play purely multi-player. So, with regard to the multi-player, this is great and a real positive change to anything in recent COD's. For a start the games runs smoothly and I have not experienced any lag or glitches. I haven't got through all the weapons yet, but so far the look and feel is good and shooting has quite a raw and realistic feel (compared to some other COD games). I wasn't sure before about the idea of all that jumping around, especially as I have already played a lot of Titanfall and was concerned it would be a bit 'samey'. That being said it works really well and adds a different dimension to the maps and how the game pays. Importantly, it seems to encourage movement and the only campers I came across were those I shot from above or landed behind :-)

So all in all a great game, which I will now buy my own copy of! Not sure if quite a 10, but given it full points to counter some of the trolls who seem to be scoring it a zero for no reason other than they are anti the COD franchise.

Following the disappointing Ghosts, Advanced Warfare marks a return to form for the Call of Duty series.

Campaign - While the majority of my time thus far has been spent in mult-iplayer, what I have played from the campaign has been enjoyable, and a clear step up from recent COD titles.
The game looks gorgeous visually, and the character performances allow you to become immersed in what has been, for the first few hours, a coherent narrative. The "Advanced Warfare" also helps keep missions fresh, providing new toys to play with and experiences that aren't exactly identical to previous COD's. The only issue I've had thus far is with the quick time events. The prompts are so small you can miss them if you are drawn in to the action around you, which causes you to replay a section.

Multiplayer - Fortunately this game builds off the multi-player from Black Ops2 and acts as if Ghosts never existed. This means the game has went back to the more traditional and addictive ways of unlocking items and completing challenges.
Some new features include the ability to modify score-streaks, a pick 13 system (instead of 10) and supply drops. The supply drops could have been an issue, since they are random, if it was the only way to unlock equipment, but instead they just add to the experience since they provide new apparel and modified versions of weapons that you can receive simply be leveling up.
The game also returns old modes while providing new as well, Uplink. Really there is something for everyone. Don't like the exo-suit? There is a classic playlist that allows you to play without it. However, that may be a mistake since the suit does open the game up and changes the dynamic of the entire experience. It provides a sense of experimentation and wonderment that has largely been absent from the series since the initial Modern Warfare.
The main negative at the moment has been lag and connectivity issues. This can be a major problem in a game like this, but it also is the first week, so such issues are not unexpected. It is worth monitoring how this is addressed or if it stabilizes here in the near future.

COD may not be the thinking-man's tactical first-person-shooter, but what Advanced Warfare does is bring the fun back to the series. And really, isn't that what you are looking for when you purchase and play a Call of Duty title?

There is a lot of great innovation in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. I agree with other users that the movement feels more fluid. I wasn't a fan of COD: Ghosts (although I only played it on a 360.) Excellent and Fun campaign with an award winning actor, Kevin Spacey. I'm having a lot of fun with this game!

A cinematic summer blockbuster spectacular delivered in videogame form. Call of Duty Advance Warfare advances the action of the game just enough to inject something new and fun while still maintaining the familiarity of the Call of Duty franchise.

    WHAT THE GAME DOES WELL
COD has always done a nice job of making fast paced video game action feel so gritty and realistic (Says the man whom the closest I ever came to a battlefield was one of those boring Civil War reenactments my Dad made me go to). Even in the parts of the game where you are essentially battling as or against a killer robot it maintains a certain level of realism, as weird as that sounds.

My favorite parts of the game is when you get to play with the futuristic technology that we imagine militaries possessing someday. There really is no feeling quite like the one when you are operating weapons that will one day be designed by the brightest minds in the scientific field for the sole purpose of making it easier to kill more people faster. It does kind of make you think we are heading for a bleak and depressing future, but meanwhile in the present it makes for one hell of a video game!

Best looking game I’ve played so far on Xbox One. The motion capture looks awesome and if they could only make the facial expressions feel a little less stiff, it would look pretty close to the real deal. I also know that this statement will make me look stupid in not too many years from now as the graphics keep improving to the point where we will basically be looking at a real human someday.

Advanced warfare is another great example of where it is better to have the campaign be short and compelling rather than adding in hours of filler gameplay just for the sake of getting a longer game. Each of Advance Warfare’s level are well thought out and add something to a very enjoyable and exciting action movie-esque story.

WHAT THE GAME DOES EVEN BETTER
Kevin Spacey is an American Treasure that gives a great performance in this game solely because he is incapable of not giving great performances. He is very much prone to overacting (which is pretty much the only kind of acting he does these days), but Kevin Spacey overacting is still an achievement that must be experienced at all times and in all forms. I want to see him continue to be motioned captured into even more video games, even when it doesn’t make sense.

WHAT THE GAME COULD HAVE IMPROVED
I was kind of hoping for better and more exciting gameplay. By no means is the gameplay dull or limited, but Titanfall has just done the futuristic warfare angle better so far. Titanfall made me feel more like an innovative and unstoppable killing machine then I got from this game. COD will just have to settle for second place this year in that specific category.

Call Of Duty multiplayer and I just do not get along. I’m not that good at multiplayer in general, as I would describe my overall ability as “average.” With COD though I would say my abilities would be better classified as “I suck.” It seems like whenever I start playing it usually ends with people I don’t know complaining about how I’m repeatedly holding the team back. Since I don’t (usually) like getting ridiculed by strangers on-line, I don’t end up getting that much replay value with COD games.

    OVERALL
As someone that pretty much plays Call of Duty for the campaign and just dabbles with the multiplayer I’m not really getting into the full Advance Warfare experience. However, just the campaign is enough reason to play the game, because even though it is short, it is still very well done. I ended up playing through the campaign twice, so even without getting into multiplayer I still feel like I got my money’s worth.

I was very surprised! Graphics were amazing, gameplay was solid, and the exo suits fit the game well. The worst part of the game was probably the sounds as the guns sounded the same as popcorn being microwaved. The story was good but not great and the multiplayer is AMAZING. Exo Survival is pointless and dull. Overall, definitely worth the price!

Advanced warfare however, seems like a breath of fresh air. The whole Exo abilities online adds a whole new dimension to the game, you don't just worry about people coming around corners. You have to worry about whats coming from above. The exo abilities makes online fast paced and so far from my experiences, has really cut out a lot of camping because it is near enough impossible.
If you prefer the old style online without exo abilities, there are classic playlists just for you.

I've only played a few missions of the campaign, but I have already been blown away by the quality of it. The amount of detail in game and in cut scenes really pulls you into the story. Its not a campaign where you play a few missions and think meh I'm going to go play online instead. It's a campaign that actually makes you want to play it.

I feel this is a problem every year and even though its been improved a little, I always sometimes wondering how has that guy killed me even though I'm behind cover?! My only other fault is the frustration when you shoot someone first and then out of nowhere (No RKO pun intended) he just kills you. Classic 'Call of Duty' with a dash of Halo: Reach and a pinch of Titanfall. First off: the classic Call of Duty fans should know that this game does include a 'classic' playlist online which excludes any of the new exo abilities, that being said, I think this game keeps a nice balance of old and new to keep a good median of the fans pleased. First off: the classic Call of Duty fans should know that this game does include a 'classic' playlist online which excludes any of the new exo abilities, that being said, I think this game keeps a nice balance of old and new to keep a good median of the fans pleased. Like any other Call of Duty game, yes, it does feel like that same thing that we get year after year with not a lot of new things being brought to the table. The game does bring the use of the 'exo suits' in which give the game that feeling of Titanfall pilot play being able to double jump and turn invisible. At first the gun selection felt very weak, but once you realize that you earn different and better variations of each gun as you progress adds a new sense of accomplishment and loot. Other than the addition of the exo suits (which give you the ability to double jump, hover, and a number of other futuristic abilities) it really is the same old Call of Duty. The fact that they brought back my personally loved 'Infection' mode was a huge plus being it's been absent since Modern Warfare 3. I think most multiplayer fans will be happy since they have playlists to suit just about everyone's wants, plus it brings back the fun of custom emblems that I know I missed the most when Ghosts was launched. As far as the story goes, I can say this is the first campaign in the Call of Duty series that I got into really easily and I think it really is mostly because of the character they built for Kevin Spacey. It really does have the same linear missions that they always have been, but Spacey does bring that cinematic feel to it that makes it feel like something other than the same old predicable story lines these games have always been. In all; the game is what it is, just another entry in the Call of Duty lineup that will never end, but it did change it up enough from those before it to make it fun again without feeling like you are just playing the same game from last year. These games always lack real variety, but really, when all you are doing is: spawning, shooting, dying and repeating there isn't a lot of variety to be had but at least it's different enough from those before it that it does make it fun again. I know for a lot of people these games are guilty pleasures because you don't want people to know that all you do is play the same 8 maps over and over killing mouthy 12 year old boys, well, this latest entry really is guilty pleasure worth even though not a lot has really changed over the span of the past 5 entries. So, a hit in points because it's the same old thing, but still a high score for bringing future to the table without making it a 'Halo' game with spaceships, lasers and aliens... oh wait, they do have lasers. What most people need to understand is that it's not the game itself that makes the online play for most people enjoyable, but more the people playing it who take the time to find ways to exploit and even cheat by controlling your spawn points and camping them out; those people will always be around to ruin the fun of those that are just playing to have a good time. I think this game is amazing. It uses the next gen to the max, and the exo suits are amazing. I love jumping around the map, and when I play with my friends, they love it. I can't wait for DLC. Thanks Sledgehammer games! I don't get why people hate on this game so much. It is actually really fun, but you have to get used to it.

I understand that this game was meant for online multiplayer gaming. That portion is fantastic and historically, the COD games have always lived up to the hype about it. It seems like they spent a whole lot of money developing the campaign, what with hiring and using Kevin Spacey's likeness, so I would have figured the campaign would have been longer and more in depth. Advanced warfare is easily the most innovative call of duty in years. Does that mean the franchise has finally once again achieved what call of duty 4 did so long ago? Not at all.

The game does well with incorporating a faster speed as well as more verticality with exo-suits, but it's the guns, equipment, and perks which are heavily disappointing for the multiplayer aspect of the game.

The game does well with incorporating a faster speed as well as more verticality with exo-suits, but it's the guns, equipment, and perks which are heavily disappointing for the multiplayer aspect of the game. Most all weapons are incredibly weak, leaving almost no diversity in the guns players actually use. Exo abilities are a joke and most choose to go without. Perk slots are taken up by perks 100% necessary such as one which makes you invisible on the mini map while using your exo suit. However; gameplay is satisfying. Kill streaks are effective. Maps are mediocre, which is 10 times better than maps in the franchise's previous installment.

While there is most definitely room to improve, this is the first time in years that I've kept a call of duty game for more than a couple of months and actually enjoyed it. It keeps me coming back to play, and for that I am thankful.

But the multiplayer just seem way too chaotic for me. I bet if you had a look at any multiplayer match from a birds eye view, you will just see headless chickens in exo suits that just jump quickly around the map like crickets on steroids. There is a zombie mode which you have to pay for unfortunately with the havoc DLC , which is sad. But with the exo zombies, I had a fantastic time; boosting around in my exo suit; shooting crowds and crowds of zombies in exo suits. With that being said, Sledgehammer's "Advanced Warfare" is an improvement over the very basic "Ghosts" which was made by Infinity Ward, the series' creator. The PS4/XBOX ONE version of AW is a visual stunner that runs at the usual 60 FPS. It's the futuristic gadgets and Kevin Spacey that make this COD stand out. The story is Tom Clancy-lite with Spacey's villain taking center stage. He plays Jonathan Irons, an evil C.E.O. who provides private military contractors with advanced warfare technology. In the end, Irons is just another Bond-like bad guy who wants to profit from world war, but Spacey brings class to the role. The thrilling gadgets featured in the campaign include the sticky gloves that Tom Cruise used in "Mission Impossible", thermal vision grenades, exo-skeletons, mechs and mobile heat-seeking missile launchers. It's all very cool, yet familiar thanks to the obligatory scripted events. The exo-skeletons are used in multiplayer which gives it a faster-pace and the new modes are enjoyable. However, the new cooperative survival mode is not as good as the one featured in "Modern Warfare 3". It supports four players and maps can be unlocked by replaying levels, but it quickly becomes tiring due to boring mini-challenges and limited enemy types. I bought the first DLC pack and the new zombies map is a very basic one; a throwback to the zombies found in the original "Black Ops". Overall, the game is solid one, but not a very groundbreaking one. This isn't the masterpiece of "Modern Warfare" nor is it the vanilla "Ghosts". It's good, but the peak of the series has already past. 8.4 out of 10. Expand

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is amazing and terrible at the same time. The campaign, in my opinion, is the best in Call of Duty history. Zombies is a somewhat flawed experience, but, nevertheless, is fun. Multiplayer, however, has the most issues. One can simply pay to level up and get better gear, making for a imbalance. This makes the multiplayer a tough experience to enjoy.

With a sped up multiplayer it redefines the call of duty franchise and not in a good way. It shines the light on the fact that change does not mean better. After mediocre reviews for Ghosts (a game that I personally like very much) Call of Duty decided that it needed to go in a different direction with the new game. While this wasn't a bad thought, the execution was lackluster. Starting at CoD4 and ending with BlackOps2 (with the exception of WaW) CoD had employed a simple strategy and kep it by just simply realizing if it ain't broke don't fix it. The games didn't introduce large scale changes but instead opted for a new take on the same old thing: a game based on mostly modern concepts of war and realistic movement and tactics. With Advanced Warfare the creators saw that it was time for a change which I did agree with, but the implementation of a brand new exo suit based movement system was where I believe the series struck not gold, but maybe something a little less captivating, let's say plastic. The new system of movement completely destroyed what I had come to know as Call of Duty in my 8 years of CoD experience. Even with Ghosts, Infinity Ward managed to produce a good game just by implementing the same old system and re-imagining only the little things like killstreaks and guns. The creators of AW took a great chance with the exo suit but in my opinion it did not pay off but instead showed many that without risk nothing bad can happen and made me very thankful for a Ghosts game ridiculed for a lack of originality. That is why I believe that AW killed CoD and what those three words, Call of Duty, meant to me. Expand

And my, anyone's luck in the multiplayer is really bad - I only managed to get two good elite guns in my 30+ hours I invested in multiplayer, I even bought Advanced Supply Drops, what's so advanced about them is that they somehow manage to give you garbage despite looking like a big gold bar. I always buyt Call of Duty Titles for the campaigns . I will surely say that this game delivered the most enjoyable and memorable campaign to date . Where as I enjoyed every campaign so far , this is the one than shines most . Sledgehammer games were very innovative with the Exo Skeletons and all the futuristic equipment and weaponry . I still play this game a lot

good exciting story but fairly short game. I solved the single player game in 8 hours. It is worth getting if on sale but not for $60. This review is only for the single player as I don't play much multiplayer.

So either buy all 4 DLCS or Don't install any DLCS. My last reason is that Exo Zombies sucked. One of the worst zombie modes i ever played in Call of Duty series. Zombies Exploding and stupid EMP zombies that shut down your EXO suit for like 10 seconds and gets you killed. Expand

I didn't exactly have high hopes for Advanced Warfare, but this is actually a REALLY cool game. It's super fun to mess around with the boosting mechanics, and there's all kinds of weapon attatchments, weapons, and all of that. I feel like they completely changed the cod series to a jumping game its very frustrating due to all the movement and it has became a pay to win game.

Advanced warfare is a very mixed bag. On one side you have very pretty graphics and a very solid campaign however the multiplayer experience is quite mediocre with unbalanced weapons, clunky gameplay and a large portion of the maps are very forgettable. It isn't a bad game but not a good one either.

I'm still playing multiplayer almost two full years later. I can't dispute the complaints from people about how different it is. I found the map design to be superior in striking a balance between offering some camping spots but not too many, but not so run-and-gun-centric like typical 3 lane maps that don't allow much besides running down a lane or waiting for someone to run down the lane. The variety of weapons is vast, and I have earned a large % of the variants without spending any money besides the base game and the season pass for new maps. I'm still having fun. I'm still learning different weapons. I bought Black Ops 3 when it was released, and I ended up logging very little time on it as I find AW much more appealing. Expand

Both games are a military science fiction first-person shooter and both have similar game mechanics. Also in both games they have exo-suits which enhance your character's abilities and movements. Such as walking on walls, punching someone into the air, sliding across the battlefield, super stomp, and super jump. Some differences they have are the weapons.

One thing I don’t like about Black Ops 3 is they do not have a lazer shotgun and rifle but Advanced Warfare does. Also Black Ops 3 you can change your character but you can’t in Advanced Warfare. In Advanced Warfare you can customize your character with different equipment. Some things I would want to see in the next game in the series is both Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3 combined. Also with the multiplayer I would have to say that they are similar but a few differences such as you can choose your player model in BO3 and in AW you can customize and choose your player-model.

Also in multiplayer you have to kill the other team before they kill you. There are many different game modes in these games. There is Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Search and Destroy and Mosh Pit. These game modes also can be played in hardcore mode which you do not know how much ammo you have and no mini map.

In Capture the flag you have to go on the enemy's territory and bring their flag to your base. In team deathmatch you have to get to 75 kills before the enemy team. Also you kill the enemy team and one enemy equals one kill. In Search and Destroy you play as the diffuser or planting the bomb. There are two different bomb locations. As diffuser if a bomb is planted you have to go diffuse it and you win or you could kill the bomber before he plants. In mosh pit is is a mixture of all of these.

So Black Ops 3 and Advanced Warfare are good games that still keep the COD franchise moving. Even Though ADV is an older game that BO3 had to follow they are still keeping gamers interested in the Call of Duty series.

"Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" is a solid improvement over its predecessor "Call of Duty: Ghosts". Released in November 2014, it was the best COD game I had played in years. Unlike previous entries, this one features the likeness of a major Hollywood actor. In "Advanced", Kevin Spacey plays a corrupt C.E.O. who isn't a far cry from his "House of Cards" character. Gameplay-wise, the big innovation is the exo-suits which are right out of the sci-fi flick "Elysium". Their inclusion in multiplayer help quicken the pace to the combat in both competitive and cooperative modes. Unfortunately, the suits' abilities are restricted in the otherwise entertaining campaign.

One of the game's highlights are the visuals. Graphically, it is a solid jump up from the previous gen's COD titles. The single player takes on the form of a futuristic "Modern Warfare" with cool tech such as the sticky gloves from "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol". Developer Sledgehammer Games (they co-created MW 3) has not only done a steady job with the single player and multiplayer aspect, but have added their own zombies experience. The exo-suits give the "Advanced Warfare" zombie maps a different feel from Treyarch's zombies. AW also includes a cooperative survival mode that featues waves of different enemies. It can be played with four players and is quite fun though it lacks depth.

Overall, this is a solid entry in the "Call of Duty" franchise. It may not be a masterpiece, but it is a solid outing. I'd rate it with an 8.3 out of 10.

Honestly this game can be summed up by very good campaign with good story and characters, and below average multiplayer than no one, and I mean no one still plays. Overall this game is solid but not worth it at the time of release for online players or even now for that demographic.

The Campaign sucks, I cant be bothered to go back and replay it. The real highlight is the Multiplayer great customization options for your guns but thats to be expected. Map Design is generic, several feel exactly the same. In the end this game is a 5

I do not understand the hate this game gets, all those zeros, this is not in no way a bad game. It is a very underrated game that gets too much hate. The campaign is one of my favorite COD campaigns, very fun and replayable. Multiplayer is very fun as well there is lots of fun to be had and the maps are all interesting and stand out compared to the other CODs.

Up until the release of Modern Warfare in 2019, this was my all-time favorite Call of Duty. Some people could say that this game had a predictable story, and while it did, it did not hurt it in the long run. Personally, I was caught off guard by the plot twist. Being given an exo suit with incredible power and punching all sorts of enemies was satisfying all the time. While the missions were a little restrictive, they never got boring. The only gimmick I hated was the mag-gloves. These pieces of trash forced you to go straight up, down, left, or right; you can't go diagonal which makes it so annoying. The other tech you are given is so much fun and mixes up the gameplay. The advanced movement, lethal and tactical gear is incredible. The survival mode was hard, but an excellent mode and new spin to survival from Modern Warfare 3. The objectives you are given are fun, and so are the upgrades you can get. Zombies at first I was very critical of, but now I think it was just not what I was used to, but it was a good thing none the less and had some good twists to the gameplay. The one thing I HATE about it though is the EMP zombies because at one point, the ability to jump really high is NEEDED and the moment you can't do that, it's more about running for your life until you regain power than it is about the carnage. The multiplayer is probably the worst part of the game and has been the only time that I feel like I'm suffering when playing. The boosted jump makes shooting idiots near impossible. Some tactical items are now nearly pointless because of the boosted jump. Guns needed to be more powerful because of the boosted jump. This was just a poor case for multiplayer. Expand

Asides from the multiplayer, the campaign is great although the storytelling isnt the best (but still good) the level design was great and it took advantage of the exo suits really well. As for zombies and the DLC maps, it was ok but i dont think it's worth the money, although i did enjoy the exo survival mode. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is Sledgehammers' first attempt at making a full Call of Duty installment. And I think they did a pretty good job in regard to that. But that doesn't mean that it's the best when it's in comparison to previous and future installments.

The story begins with a cliche death that you don't really care about since you've not been able to create any sort of bond with the character. But it's the means to push the story forward and to fully introduce you to "Atlas" which totally isn't the bad guy.

After a few missions, you kill the leader of a terrorist group that recently caused a big nuclear situation that left many cities devastated. But the leader of the terrorist group gives you a USB stick that shows that Atlas knew of the threat and decided to let it happen for profits (who would have guessed a big corporate private army would become the enemy,)

Then you connect with your old team with Sentinal and go to fight your once ally now for Atlas. Which you technically never successfully achieve because the story ends with you killing the leader instead of Atlas being completely destroyed (as hinted in the game after you complete the final mission.)

Overall the story is not memorable but not terrible. Gunplay was alright though the aerial mission near the end where you control a fighter jet felt weird with and without inverted controls.) A good first attempt by Sledgehammer but not that impressive when compared to the other games in the series.
