Rocksteady nails the atmosphere of Batman every single time, and this time is no differnet. However there are many shortcomings this game possesses which makes it a disappointing finale to the Arkham series. First of all let`s address the elephant in the room, the batmobile. I think it was a great improvement to add Batman`s signature vehicle to the game, however Rocksteady forces it far too much to the point where I almost forget I`m playing a Batman game and rather some tank simulator. The game as a whole has a prominent militaristic vibe which sets it apart from the other games. Rather than chasing down the Joker like in previous games, you`re going toe-to-toe with an entire private army. While they nailed Scarecrow`s look and personality, the main villain also comes up very short as you rarely even interact with him. When I first got this game I was expecting experiences with Scarecrow to be similar to the ones in Asylum where you hallucinated and fought a giant version of himself. None of that happens in this game as there aren`t really any boss fights in this game in general. Boss fights are what made Arkham Asylum, City and Origins so good. For some reason Rocksteady ditches this idea entirely in favor of bland, tank battles. This game does shine in freedom and side quests in my opinion. The side missions in Knight are very unique to each other, and each time you`re doing something different which keeps it interesting. The map is a lot bigger than its previous entries which gives you lots of room to speed around with the batmobile in. The environment is largely destructible as well which adds a lot of polish to the world. Also, this game`s overall atmosphere is incredibly dark (which explains the M rating). I think this is a strength to a Batman game, and the constant psychological battle Batman undergoes is what makes the story so interesting. Overall, this is an incredible Batman game, however compared to its predecessors and considering this is supposed to be the finale, it is very disappointing. I know they could have done better. I'll separate things you will encounter on reviews by topic and say if is true or not

    - You depend on bat mobile to do things all the time and the car is overused - NONSENSE that dependes on how much you will want to use the car. Of course there are missions in which is required, but not obligatory

    - Odd design - NONSENSE - Game is looking good as hell, both in immersion and artistically speaking, and you don`t need to be an expert in art design to know it

    - Story is bad compared to the previous ones - Ok, Im not gonna spoil anything, but if you played batman arkham asylum, and payed attention, as well as if you payed attention on Arkham City, you will notice that this is the way the plot was suppose to be. And Rocksteady doest exactly what fans should wait.

Why I rate this game with a high score if I didn't finished?

Because it freaking deserves a 9 at least, if its going to get a 10, well... I have to finish to say if the story will keep like it is now of ir its going to be even more epic, than it changes to 10...

9 is the minimum this game deserves!

Luckily I was wrong. They deliver once again thanks to a narrative that pulls no punches, expansions on nearly every aspect of the previous games, and one of the most refined gaming experiences ever created. Some might be turned off by some of the changes to the formula, but it is hard to deny the level of quality this game has. It's one of the best open-world experiences on the market and certainly one of the best superhero games of all time.

Gotham a huge place to explore and villains have taken over every nook and cranny. Plenty of side diversions are available that will hours to your playtime. Completing them all will allow you to see the full ending. An extra incentive for doing it all. It's not like we really needed one though. Hunting down all of those Riddler trophies might be a pain at times, but going out of your way to tackle some of those other objectives is often just as fun as the main quest. They usually lead to exciting encounters with classic Batman villains with confrontations that conclude in ways that are untraditional for the series. Arkham Knight sure isn't afraid to surprise you with something new and unexpected form time to time.

As fun as the side-quests are it can be hard to pull yourself away from the main-quest for too long. That's because the story is so fantastic. It's dark, has some great surprises and twists, and shows that Caped Crusader at his most vulnerable. This is one of the most exciting Batman stories ever told, and it's one that will have you dying to see that next cutscene.

The expected elements of the series are present. The gadgets, the fantastic flow of combat, and others are all back once again. Only they never been smoother. Everything feels incredibly. Rocksteady has polished and refined every aspect of the controls and overall fluidity of the experience. Playing it is as smooth as butter. It might even make the previous games feel clunky in comparison.

One of the new additions comes in the form of some new playable characters who team up with Batman in certain encounters. They don't play any differently, but it's fun to play as a different character for a bit and use those flashy team takedowns. The other new addition is the Batmobile. It's a centerpiece of the gameplay experience. The amount of control you have over it is astounding. A good thing as you will be using it frequently. Vehicular combat is a big part of the game. Plenty of puzzles are tide to the machines many capabilities as well.

Some have complained about how much it is utilized in the game, but I personally can't see why. It's a blast to use and adds some variety to the experience that keeps it from being Arkham City 2.0. I honestly don't think this game would have succeeded as well without it, and to be honest most racing games can't handle cars this well.

Rocksteady concludes their story on a very high note. The gameplay is better than ever and Gotham is filled with things to do. The story dives deep into Batman's psyche and leaves us with plenty of unforgettable moments. Some minor annoyances and a few unfortunate technical issues (it freezes from time to time) are present. However the overall polish the game has makes them almost unnoticeable.

This is one of the most fun gaming experiences I have had in years. It nails just about every aspect one could hope for a game to deliver in. It stands out as one of Batman's shining moments. To top things off it is easily the best looking game I have ever played. It delivers in ever category and I can't recommend it highly enough provided you've played the other games (the story really needs to be seen from the beginning). It's been a while since I have been this amazed by a game.

    I give it a near-perfect score of 9.9/10.

Beautiful game but it could use a better tutorial system for those who haven't played before. There's a few moments where the game tells you what it wants you to do but won't tell you how to do it, thankfully there's youtube videos. Otherwise it's pretty good.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was very excited to get this game because the last batman, Arkham City, had several cliff hangers. This game did tie off the questions but it was very lackluster. There many side mission stories that I was very curious to see how they would turn out but each of them did not live up to my admittedly high expectations. And (minor spoiler here) as the honest trailer said there was waaaaay too much tank in this game (the batmobile turns into a tank). There wasn't even a good old punchy boss fight in the entire game. They were all vehicle battles against some very ridiculous vehicles. In fact you never fight scarecrow and you fight the Arkham Knight 3 times in the batmobile and once in predator mode. You never do fight him Mano a Mano. My biggest disappointments for the game though are that you never fly the batwing despite the fact it is seen very often in the game and you do not see closure for the game unless you 100% it. Ain't nobody got time for that! There's way too much to do and normally this is not a problem but the Checked in at Carl's Jr. / Green Burrito in "riddles" that the riddler leaves are not fun. Games are supposed to be fun, not a chore. I am very happy I rented it instead of buying it. Expand

Rocksteady have done it again! Arkham Asylum was a fantastic game in every aspect. City came along and improved upon it in every way imaginable. Then Origins came along and did absolutely nothing. So what has Arkham Knight done? Quite a bit, especially for a franchise already close to perfection.

As many reviews are keen to point out, the major addition is the Batmobile. Whilst this has been met with a certain degree of hostility by fans, the addition is not only welcome but also quite necessary if you ask me. Why is this? First of all, it allows for much more gameplay possibilities. Everything from level design, puzzles & collectibles to combat and open-world gameplay become fresh. The Batmobile is not a gimmick, it is genuinely the biggest and greatest addition to the franchise. It acts as both a car and a tank. There are vehicular combat sections (yes, still with a combo system and special weapons/moves), upgrades and some racing sections. The Batmobile is used to its full potential throughout the game - both by side-quests and the main story. The real question is, how has this addition impacted the quality of the game? The answer is: not much at all. Infact, other areas of the game are just as good (mostly), if not better. The combat system is largely the same (after all, they've run out of button combinations for adding any more gadgets or special moves to Batman's plethora of combat options) but there are now special gadget moves that can be activated when the combo meter is full, and you can now juggle enemies after super stun. There are also environmental takedowns (which replace throws - throws themselves are replaced by last-minute counters). The beauty of this combat system is that it has evolved without becoming overly complex or difficult. There's a lot of variety and depth to the combat, it feels more rewarding than ever to keep long combos going. That said, there aren't really any interesting enemies to fight - just your usual stun sticks, ninjas, big guys and riot shields. The biggest addition to the combat is that in some parts you can have Batman fight alongside one of his allies (Nightwing, Robin Catwoman) - so you can do dual takedowns by switching between characters without dropping your combo. This is only really used well for Riddler's side quest, so it's disappointing that such a system is not used more.

I was never a huge fan of the Predator sections as you spend a lot of time sitting around waiting. Arkham Knight adds the ability to chain takedowns, sentry guns, flying drones and enemies not visible by detective mode, as well as a Voice Synthesizer which can be used to order enemies around, and there's some interesting things one can do with this as well as the disruptor. Overall however, although the Predator toolbox has evolved, sadly the game's usage of them is poor. Despite being one of the longest games in the franchise, it has by far the fewest Predator encounters, and the Predator sections that are there are not at all challenging or add anything new or exciting.

So what about the story and side missions? Well, they're both top-quality too. I would argue that the side missions are repetitive and rather dull/lacking in any real story or connection to characters compared to Arkham City, but they're not tedious. The story itself is very good also. I don't want to spoil anything so I won't discuss much about the characters and story here, but it definitely holds up to the high standard set by every other game in the series (including Origins). Major events occur, put it that way. However, despite this, they don't feel quite as dramatic or powerful as they did in Arkham City or even Arkham Origins. It's one of those stories where the first 90% is quite pedestrian and the last 10% everything happens - almost as if it was rushed - without fully tying up loose ends.

One other fairly important thing to note is that there are no real boss fights. There are about 3 of them, and all of them are, you guessed it, glorified hit-and-run with the Batmobile. These are not impressive if I'm honest. They are completely underwhelming and I'm sure many others would agree that this game has the weakest boss fights of them all - because it doesn't really have ANY if we're being brutally honest. If you're expecting encounters with major characters anywhere near as good as Arkham City, you're SOL.

So what's the verdict? If you enjoyed any of the previous games, unless you have a dire hatred of any games involving any sort of vehicular combat or driving sections then you will be hard-pushed to find many flaws with this game. The world is massive, there's lots to do and there's destructible environments. The combat and stealth mechanics as well as the visuals have been stepped up without compromise. The Batmobile is an excellent addition and used in meaningful ways throughout without getting too silly or "jumping the shark". For any fan of the series, it is a must-play.

For the 1/2 of the game that is truly Batman worthy I would give the game a 9. But the heavy use of the ridiculous Bat Tank really destroyed the game for me. Riddler continues to be a complete pain and my most hated part of the series.

Graphics were decent, soundtrack was the standard fair, sound was a bit off and the AI was overly alert at times and brain dead the rest.

There was a good 1/3 of a game here and then they went with the tank fights and the whole thing got lost in the shuffle. A very disappointing end to a series.

So sad that I can only justify a 6 for the game overall. The Batmobile and forcing it down your throat SO MUCH really brought the score down.

If you have not played the series, then I suggest forgetting about this title, watch a game movie of it and play the first two.

Unfortunately, the addition of the Batmobile is not a great one and the familiar structure gives off the feeling of deja vu. But the experience is awesome thanks to a terrific story, satisfying combat and an amazing open-world environment. Taking advantage of the current-gen's graphical capabilities, the developers have crafted a visual tour de force. Gotham has a dark cinematic look comparable to the NYC of Snyder's "Watchmen" and the detailed character models are a marvel.

The main plot is similar to the "The Dark Knight Rises" with Gotham being terrorized by Scarecrow and his partner, the Arkham Knight. Of course, it's up to Batman and friends to help put a stop to it. The game's tone is darker than its predecessors, but it's not enough to justify the earned 'M' rating. In fact, there isn't much gore or profanity; just mature themes and the usual action-heavy cartoon violence. In addition to the campaign, Rocksteady has loaded the game with the Challenge Rooms, Riddler puzzles and trophies of past installments. I cannot comment on the season pass since I do not own it, but there are some nice free add-ons including the "Batman V Superman" skin. Overall, "Arkham Knight" is a game that is a must play for fans of the series. It may not dethrone "City" as the best in the trilogy, but it's an excellent accomplishment nevertheless.

Batman: Arkham Knight is abour batman trying to save the Gotham City along with the entire east coast from Scarecrow's fear toxin, of which makes people go crazy and come in contact with their worst fear. Scarecrow, also has a partner named Arkham Knight, whom knows about Batman. His identity his moves, his tech and his amor. Batman got some of the fear toxin in his system while stoping Scarcrows first attempt at unleashing his fear toxins into the entire east coast, that fear toxins is making Batman lose his mind and he not only has Joker in his head, he's turning into him. The charaters are pretty great (Espessically the Joker) and the voice acting is spot on. I won't really get into details, because hate given people spoilers during reviews, but I guess you could guess storyline had a lot of protential. But it's flawed do it's repetitive missions and over used methods we've seen in former Batman Arkham games. Most of them feel like the side missions. You go fight a group bad guys or when facing a number armed thugs you have use the attach than hide method. Not that there's nothing wrong with doing that, because they included pretty nice combat tactics, weapons and tech. It's just they over use it. The Boss Fights aren't all that repetitive they're just terribly implemented. The Bosses normally hide behind they're guards so you have take out the gaurds before you could get them. The Batmobile another issues. If the designers knew it was going to be used through majority of the game they could've made the controls better, make it drive like a real car and not make slide all over the place like the road's made of ice and done more things with it. Besides drive to locations all you really do with is blow a bunch of drones (of which are really fraustrating because there's a lot of them on the street) or do the Riddlers trails. Not to mention how over used it is. Driving isn't really enjoyable, so I'd prefer you just get from one place to another the old fashioned Batman way, which by the way is really fun still. The way Batman moves is little clunky though. Graphically it looks good, especcailly the rain. I like the way it just slide off his cape. Batman Arkham has great combat, parkour, good replay value great idea of a story and great setting (Could've been bigger) But it's flawed by it clunky controls, uninteresting villians (Besides the Joker and the Arkham Knight) bland and repeitive missisons, the Batmobile, and copy and pasted side missions which delay you completing the game. Some major villains were left from the lime light this go round but have a dlc bringing them back into Gotham. Gameplay mechanics feel the same as the previous games mostly introducing a huge metal box, the Batmobile. By the end of the game it sure did feel to overstay its welcome, having to use it in most puzzles or buildings but it wasn't a terrible thing. Its the freaking Batmobile. With the size of the new Gotham it was useful to have for traveling. The developers did a really good job adding in more detective moments through the games compared to previous Arkham games, big props for that.
While this game was great and I highly enjoyed it, I cant give it a perfect 10 score. I had a issue with the button layout on the Xbox. The command to bring up my gadget selection just felt out of place.

This is a fantastic game, the only issue I have is that the combat AI is weak. As well there are a ton of annoying little items that are important for 100% completion. Would have been nice to have toned that down a bit.

'Batman: Arkham Knight (2015)' is, as of now, the final main instalment in its series. Although it isn't quite as good as 'Batman: Arkham City (2011)', it ends the story on a solid note and is a fantastic game from the second it begins. Its narrative picks up after the gloomy end of its predecessor, taking things in a somewhat new direction when Scarecrow - one of the highlights of the first game in the series - rolls into Gotham with a plan to bring it to its knees. There are some really interesting characterisations here and the title does quite a bit of exploration when it comes to Batman's innermost fears and anxieties. Of course, it also has a couple of less successful moments. However, the overall thing is compelling and entertaining right the way through. The gameplay is probably the most refined it has ever been, tightening up series-staple mechanics while introducing several new gadgets and abilities. The combat is as deep and fluid as you'd expect, while the predator encounters are as challenging and suspenseful as ever. It's all really exciting and often contextualised within its wider world. That's because this time the entire city is explorable, from its highest rooftops to its shabbiest alleys. Soaring over the rain-soaked city as searchlights blaze their circles into the sky is simply stunning. Beneath its grimy aesthetic, the game really is gorgeous; the jump in generation between this title and the last is evident. The thing's most major new mechanic is the Batmobile, which has proven controversial among fans. Personally, I think it's a great addition. The car mode provokes an intense feeling of speed and the tank mode satisfyingly allows you to deal out some heavy damage. Perhaps it is leaned on a little too heavily in some scripted segments and in some of the Riddler's puzzles, but it's an enjoyable element of the experience that never truly feels cumbersome. Besides, it can launch you into the air, which is indescribably fulfilling. The city itself is peppered with stuff to do, all of which progresses side-plots than can result in you apprehending several well-known villains. This is great because it means that there is no busywork. It really is a treat to see your progress in real time, as Gotham PD fills up with the likes of Two-Face and the Penguin. Of course, there's also the elusive Riddler to contend with. He's put his trophies all over the place yet again and given you another set of lore-based riddles to solve. They're all tied to a series of 'Saw (2004)'-like traps and, this time, the completion of thse bring you one step closer to freeing Catwoman (who has been captured by the rogue and assists you in her own escape). This a great way of making the Riddler stuff seem even more urgent than it has before, as it directly impacts a playable character who is an important part of the series. The game, as a whole, has a strong sense of urgency to it. It supposedly plays out in real time and it pushes the Dark Knight to his limits. It's filled with effective storytelling, engaging characters and exciting gameplay. It's an extremely enjoyable experience. 10/10 Expand

Overall great game, here some negatives to me: overscripted and uninteresting boss fights, annoying tank battles with repitetive primitive stealth, secondary objectives may vary from amazing to ordinary (like in farcry), graphics can be better (unstable fps, bad or missing AA). Batmobile missions are good in riddles puzzles. i think it is the weakest instalment. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start by saying I am 97% complete with the entire game and have played all the previous Arkham titles. This review is based on the PS4 version.

Story: The main campaign story is decent. The interactions with Joker are easily the highlight of the campaign. There are several moments that gave me goosebumps and caused me to play that extra 2 hours to see what happened next. Unfortunately, there is a lot of filler and the main villain is probably the least interesting character in the story. There is definitely a theme of investigate this, fight this guy, have a neutral outcome, and repeat. The biggest disappointment in the story was the Arkham Knight's reveal. It was foreshadowed much earlier on in the campaign and the hours of game play leading up to the reveal is rather frustrating since you know what is coming, yet hoops must be jumped through to get there. The side missions were fun for the first few rounds, but became VERY repetitive. The second biggest problem with the story is the fact you have to 100% every mission to see the full ending. Completionists may argue for this approach, however this is such a theatrical and story driven franchise that wasting hours and hours of collecting the hundreds of Riddler trophies sucks all the joy out of getting to see that full ending. 6/10

Game play: The combat is excellent as always. There is a lot of forgiveness in the sense that you can leap and punch people from tens of meters away and leap back to the previous enemy with a touch of a button. The early fights of the game are very easy. The more you progress, the harder the fights become. You won't get away with just spamming the punch button and I found the fights to be challenging, fair, and enjoyable. The two worst parts of the game mechanics are the batmobile and the "boss battles". First the batmobile is truely awesome.... for about the first 30 minutes. After you have played with it, realized how powerful you are, and leaped from the tops of buildings into the car, you quickly realize again the repetition required for every instance where the batmobile is required. Every encounter is boiled down to A) Guard X while it is assaulted by drones or B) Use the power winch to climb/charge Y. Some sequences are extra creative by combining the previously mentioned encounters. 4/10 for repetition of sequences and use of the batmobile.

Appearance: Gotham looks amazing. It is a shame that the PC version won't work properly because I can imagine that this game would be gorgeous. I encountered a few minor glitches that did not effect playing but did take away from the immersion. The voice acting is excellent as expected from the Arkham series. 8/10

Overall: Though I find this game VERY repetitive, it still kept my attention. I will say that I am biased because I just like batman. If you're not a completionist or into batman lore, I would think that many players would grow tired of the game at about the half way point. The repetition and predictable reveal bring the overall rating to a 6/10.

Alright so this game is definitely very well put together, and is the best of the series. It starts off normal and then things pick up pretty quickly near the end. Just like how I feel all games should be set out. The negative aspect is that it gets hard AF and I caught myself swearing and wanting to break something a few times, especially playing on hard. Overall good, but get ready to get mad, either at your machine, or the game itself. Expand

So, the finale of Rocksteady's Arkham trilogy arrived (with a slow whimper on PC) and well, it is bombastic to say the least. Is it good though?
Firstly, the game's story, about Scarecrow's plan to take down Gotham and Batman, is very good. The game's story has enough substance and psychological themes to provide a interesting story, whilst having the massive explosions, cameos off the Batman universe. This is provided through good voice acting with Conroy and Noble having good performances. What prevents this story from really becoming great is two things. First, the story is too linear, and could be better with branching paths. Second, the story sometimes depend on the Batmobile too much. Now, the Batmobile is fantastic, controls in both modes fantastic and being very fun, but has too much to do with the main story.
However, this game shines (ironically enough) through the creation of a dark, gritty City in Gotham. The game's visuals and sound design really help to portray Batman's City as a worn city, taken apart by crime, rioting and anarchism. Gliding over the city shows a great size for the city, with chatter about kids and supercriminals being heard by Batman. The characters add to this, as they are a number of interesting side characters, such as the helpful Nightwing, Robin and Catwoman to the villainous Riddler, Arkham Knight and these characters are involved in a huge number of side missions that make the City feel like a place where characters are existing and actively doing things. These increase the longevity within this sprawling city. AR Challenges add to this, even if they aren't entirely fun due to their separation from the main game.
The big thing about this game is the combat. The Arkham games have always nailed the balance and once again, combat is very fun here. With even more gadgets and abilities to unlock, the combat is even deeper with more variation and higher hit scores whilst maintaining difficulty with varying enemies. Whilst it's hard to remember all these moves, it's still a great joy to kick ass as the caped crusader in fast paced, free flowing, hard hitting combat.
So, The Arkham trilogy has gone out with a great bang. This series has shown the potential in using licenses to great effect and sets the standard for licensed games. That is one of the many things we can thank this franchise for, and in particular, this last game for.

The good: Main story line, the flavor of Gotham City, beating the crap out of bad guys.
The less good: The batmobile, mini games involving the batmobile, the batmobile.
The horrid: Cat woman. The jokers trophies collections, the batmobile.

This game has incredible action scenes and intense drama. The Scarecrow became one of the most memorized Batman villains thanks to this game. The Batmobile has incredible features and the ending is a mix of dramatic and creepy. I would recommend this game to any hardcore Batman fan.

  1. Somehow, monotone side activities are a perfect match for the game’s atmosphere of bad dream you just can’t wake up from. Disarm a bomb, secure an outpost, disable a watchtower; disarm a bomb, secure an outpost, disable a watchtower; repeat ad nauseam. After 100% completion you’ll feel as tired as Batman himself. So obviously there were a few things that I didn't like about Arkham Knight and some things that I wished were done better, but overall I did enjoy my time with the game.
