    Beautiful game but it could use a better tutorial system for those who haven't played before. There's a few moments where the game tells you what it wants you to do but won't tell you how to do it, thankfully there's youtube videos. Otherwise it's pretty good.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was very excited to get this game because the last batman, Arkham City, had several cliff hangers. This game did tie off the questions but it was very lackluster. There many side mission stories that I was very curious to see how they would turn out but each of them did not live up to my admittedly high expectations. And (minor spoiler here) as the honest trailer said there was waaaaay too much tank in this game (the batmobile turns into a tank). There wasn't even a good old punchy boss fight in the entire game. They were all vehicle battles against some very ridiculous vehicles. In fact you never fight scarecrow and you fight the Arkham Knight 3 times in the batmobile and once in predator mode. You never do fight him Mano a Mano. My biggest disappointments for the game though are that you never fly the batwing despite the fact it is seen very often in the game and you do not see closure for the game unless you 100% it. Ain't nobody got time for that! There's way too much to do and normally this is not a problem but the Checked in at Carl's Jr. / Green Burrito in "riddles" that the riddler leaves are not fun. Games are supposed to be fun, not a chore. I am very happy I rented it instead of buying it.… Expand

The reason why this game is such a damn letdown is because the lack of any challenge maps. Instead we get AR challenge maps which aren't the same by a long shot and there are only about 9 of them I believe. To make matters even more worse (if that were possible) is the the season pass contains pretty much all the content and is packaged with a $40 price tag WTF?! I highly recommend waiting until this game is on sale or comes out with a goty edition with all dlc or more than likely you will be disappointed like I was. This became prevalent after the final encounter with Deathstroke, which was so amazing in Origins, was degraded down to a simple hide-n-seek tank battle.

    This upsets me more than you can know. Arkham Knight isn't a bad game but it isn't even close to the brilliance of City and Asylum. It lacks a distinctive atmosphere that both City and Asylum had that made the games feel so special. The Batmobile was something I wish was never even introduced. The controls are clunky and the combat sections become mind numbingly repetitive. The story isThis upsets me more than you can know. Arkham Knight isn't a bad game but it isn't even close to the brilliance of City and Asylum. It lacks a distinctive atmosphere that both City and Asylum had that made the games feel so special. The story is rather uninspired as compared to the last few games, with only a few key characteristics making it enjoyable. Without these though, the story does nothing to impress. The combat and predator sections have been greatly improved however, this time introducing complexity that actually makes the game better, not just more layered. Also, I should mention that a very similar review was written by my sister for the PS4 version, but I am of the same opinion as her regarding the Xbox version.

    In my opinion, the presentation of the game is very good. The game has a very high level of detail and graphical fidelity. At the same time, the frame rate is generally smooth and consistent. As graphical glitches are rare and far between, the game looks great and provide the player with great visuals. The audio is very good as well with nice environmental effects, good voice acting and a very good soundtrack. Overall, both the visuals and the audio help the player to have an immersive experience.

    As for the story, Scarecrow is back and it is up to Batman to stop him and his band of other villains. The game structure has been divided into a main story arc and side stories, and the player can choose when to advance the main story. As such, the player have some influence over the pace of which to complete the game. It is worth mentioning that the storyline is rather linear and predictable, and some people may find the plot to be weak and dull overall. However, it is possible to do various side activities and missions which add a little bit of variety to the game.

    Many of the game mechanics are very similar to previous installments. Batman has the ability to move around on the ground or in the air, and much of the fighting consists of hand-to-hand combat. The combat segments feel fluid and smooth, with a blend of fast-paced moves and slow motion knockdowns. Fighting styles and moves can being upgraded as one earn skill points and XP. Further, it is possible to acquire various gadgets which can be purchased with skill points among others. A new addition to the series is the ability to use the Batmobile. By using the Batmobile, the player participate in car chases and races, as well as fight enemies, for instance vehicles and tanks.

    In terms of gameplay however, the enemy variety is rather limited which may be off-putting to some people. At the same time, the boss battles are somewhat mediocre, and the game may seem a bit easy for a player who is familiar with these kind of games. While the introduction of Batmobile adds more gameplay, some people may find it to be overused at times. The racing sections may feel out of place once in awhile and the combat sections involving the Batmobile lack a bit of variety.

    In summary, Batman: Arkham Knight is a mixed bag of positives and negatives. In my opinion, it is a good game and I would recommend it to fans of the series. For other gamers who are not familiar with the Batman games, Batman: Arkham Knight may seem to be a bit generic at times. However, I would still recommend the game to fans of action/racing games when the price drops.    … Expand

    I rented this game and it turned out to be pretty cool. I usually don't enjoy playing Batman games but I could play this for awhile. The best Batman game I've ever played.

    Great game, I loved using the batmobile. One thing was that fights were pretty easy, not much of a challenge. The story is good. I loved trying to take out armed enemies. Must-buy if you like that type of game.

Oh my god, this was so tedious and annoying, having to do these parts every other missions, the stealth elements they try to put on the batmobile was so annoying. The story was alright at best, the Scarecrow was so boring as a main bad guy. The plot twist of Jason Todd being Arkham Knight was so predictable, how they kept having Batman relive Jason Todd's disappearance. It was so obvious. The final part of the main story, before knightfall protocol was amazing. Him revealing himself was awesome, and his little internal struggle with the Joker was a near flawless ending to the game. But the militia missions and destroying their checkpoints and all that, was awful. The combat system was good as always but fighting all those different enemies seemed like you're biting off more than you can chew. The riddler challenges offered a challenge with nothing in return, besides for being able to check his missions off your checklist. Putting all the villains in the cell together and watching them bicker was a lovely little touch. Rocksteady could have seriously stepped up their game, and made it like Asylum or City, but we got an extremely mediocre game.… Expand

As the game opens to scarecrow clearing the streets of Gotham City of everything clean and leaving the criminals and the underbelly to roam the streets. The Batman pushes himself to the limit both physically and mentally to clean the streets of all the filth he fought so hard to bring to justice. Armed with an array of weaponary and gadgets from the powerful Batmobile. Batman sets off on a one man war to stop a mysterious figure known has the Arkham Knight. Prowl Gotham from It's amazing landscape rooftops, or battle militia forces on the ground. The follow up to the hugely successful Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City comes Arkham Knight the story starts well and builds gradually but its not quite as good as the stories from the previous outings as The Dark Knight but an enjoyable experience.… Expand

Including the batmobile to drive was a nice addition, but that still didn't work for me. I preferred flying around using the grappling hook. The story wasn't that great and it was PREDICTABLE! It was a nice conclusion to the Arkham series,Arkham Knight looked amazing, it played the same as the previous Arkham games, but there was just something about this one that I couldn't get into.     overall Batman Arkham Knight is a great experience. the story is not flawless but it's not bad for an action game either and I think Arkham Knight's Gotham is the best version of this dark city.

    Game looks fine on Xbox series X with 1800p. The 30fps doesn't bother that much. The input lag is ok. The game itself is good but for me the gameplay felt repetitive, especially with the bat-mobile and uncountable enemy tanks. Also they tried to stretch the game in duration which is a bummer

I am not exagerrating.(The closest thing to a boss fight is two IDENTICAL tank fights and a sequence where the Arkham Knight sits on gargoyles and you have to get under him and grapple up so the game can show you a cinema of Batman hittingAsylum and City had amazing dynamic super villain fight. You never actually fight anything more than the standard minions. Scarecrow? The mastermind behind this final assault on Gotham? You never fight him. He is taken care of in a cinema just like EVERY other super villain is.

    The crime scene detective sequences are replaced with a handful of hanging bodies that you scan for three easy to find clues. There are something like six of those and it's the same routine every time.

    The story has its issues but is decent if you can ignore some major holes in the plot. There are some genuinely touching character moments. Poison Ivy has a particularly touching moment.

    The side missions are phoned in lazy additions to the game. For example: When you do the Firefly side missions, it's the same every time. Find burning firehouse. Use car to get the sprinklers running agan. Chase Firefly with car until you get close enough to tap A twice and watch a short cinema where Batman beat on Firefly a bit until he jets off. You follow that pattern five or six times with no deviation. In the last mission of each side mission, a cinema shows Batman apprehending the villain. The only participation you do is after Batman places the villain in the back of the Batmobile. You get to drive the bad guy to GCPD.

    Get used to the first mission of each side mission. You'll be doing that same thing between 4-8 times. No variety. No inventive use of anything.

    You will only ever fight the cannon fodder minions. You never fight any super villains because the fights with them are done in cinemas. I have everything done 100% except The Riddler. I have 23 trophies left before I can finally get him, so there is a slight chance he could be the only super villain fight in the game. Sadly, he is more likely to be another fight done in a cinema like all of the others.

    I give the game a 6. It's like they listed all of the things people loved about the previous games and chose not to include any of those signatures of the series. The combat is still smooth and well done. The Batmobile isn't everyone's favorite, but I didn't mind it.

    This game, sadly, got struck by the curse of "The Third Game" and ended up being a far inferior game compared to the rest of the series.    … Expand

    DLC, that's how I'd describe Arkham Knight. The graphics are sharper but not better than the previous gens versions and the gameplay is the same. That's not a bad thing because the other games were excellent but surely we should expect more than a pathetic attempt at Bat tank/mobile sections, that are tacked on and are terrible.

    I bought this game on Day One and after doing the same    DLC, that's how I'd describe Arkham Knight. The graphics are sharper but not better than the previous gens versions and the gameplay is the same. That's not a bad thing because the other games were excellent but surely we should expect more than a pathetic attempt at Bat tank/mobile sections, that are tacked on and are terrible.

    I bought this game on Day One and after doing the same with The Witcher 3 and Project Cars, I can honestly say that I will be waiting at least 2 weeks from now on.

    I can't believe how Rocksteady could have gone so wrong with such a great formula, this game should be held as an example to developers world-wide of what can go wrong when you try to do too much within your game.     The batmobile is just awful, what could of been a fantastic addition to the series if used sparingly is instead forced on the player so much that it feels like a chore every time you're forced to jump inside the heavily controlled vehicle.

    The story itself is decent enough, nothing special, but it serves its purpose. I think where this game shines is within the side activities, they're this games saving grace.

    Overall it's a very bleak game, for every moment I felt the game was excelling there were five moments where I just didn't wish to continue playing any further. Such a disappointing end to what was once one of my favourite series in gaming.    … Expand

    For the 1/2 of the game that is truly Batman worthy I would give the game a 9. But the heavy use of the ridiculous Bat Tank really destroyed the    This game is a disappointment.     There was a good 1/3 of a game here and then they went with the tank fights and the whole thing got lost in the shuffle. A very disappointing end to a series.

    So sad that I can only justify a 6 for the game overall. The Batmobile and forcing it down your throat SO MUCH really brought the score down.

    If you have not played the series, then I suggest forgetting about this title, watch a game movie of it and play the first two.    … Expand

Scarecrow, also has a partner named Arkham Knight, whom knows about Batman. His identity his moves, his tech and his amor. Batman got some of the fear toxin in his system while stoping Scarcrows first attempt at unleashing his fear toxins into the entire east coast, that fear toxins is making Batman lose his mind and he not only has Joker in his head, he's turning into him. The charaters are pretty great (Espessically the Joker) and the voice acting is spot on. I won't really get into details, because hate given people spoilers during reviews, but I guess you could guess storyline had a lot of protential. But it's flawed do it's repetitive missions and over used methods we've seen in former Batman Arkham games. Most of them feel like the side missions. You go fight a group bad guys or when facing a number armed thugs you have use the attach than hide method. Not that there's nothing wrong with doing that, because they included pretty nice combat tactics, weapons and tech. It's just they over use it. The Boss Fights aren't all that repetitive they're just terribly implemented. The Bosses normally hide behind they're guards so you have take out the gaurds before you could get them. The Batmobile another issues. If the designers knew it was going to be used through majority of the game they could've made the controls better, make it drive like a real car and not make slide all over the place like the road's made of ice and done more things with it. Besides drive to locations all you really do with is blow a bunch of drones (of which are really fraustrating because there's a lot of them on the street) or do the Riddlers trails. Not to mention how over used it is. Driving isn't really enjoyable, so I'd prefer you just get from one place to another the old fashioned Batman way, which by the way is really fun still. The way Batman moves is little clunky though. Graphically it looks good, especcailly the rain. I like the way it just slide off his cape. Batman Arkham has great combat, parkour, good replay value great idea of a story and great setting (Could've been bigger) But it's flawed by it clunky controls, uninteresting villians (Besides the Joker and the Arkham Knight) bland and repeitive missisons, the Batmobile, and copy and pasted side missions which delay you completing the game.… Expand

Joker is the only redeeming factor in this game and the updated Batman Combat which is still the same just betterToo much Batmobile, The story is way to predictable if you know even the slightest bit about Batman history with Robin and the Joker. The Batmobile is cool at 1st until its shoved down your throats for over 50% of the game. Scarecrow has this big build up but falls flat. Joker is the only redeeming factor in this game and the updated Batman Combat which is still the same just better polished. Gameplay does not feel "next-gen." Definitely feels like it was designed for last gen and up rezzed for Xbox One and PS4. While it was nice to see graphical and lighting improvements over the last two "true" batman games, this still falls very short of what it could've been. While I generally enjoyed the storyline, there were zero plot twists, and World of Tanks: Batman Edition was way over the top. IMO the game could've used more detective mode sequences where Batman reconstructs the crime scene, sadly this was much underused in this game. I enjoyed the qusai homage paid to "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight Rises" where the house blows up and Brue just disapears. I felt that they could've used this game to roll into a batman vs. superman as a few of the henchmen in the game mention "that guy in metropolis city." I know there haven't really been any decent Superman games to date, but this could've been Rocksteady's chance to do something special. But seriously, less BAT-TANK and more engrossed story telling would've went a long way, and the battle with Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke is a one punch knock out?! That guy is pumped up on so much miracuroo it's not even funny. This game like so many others was advertised as a juicy 16oz porter house steak and instead all we got was an 8oz round steak.… Expand

    its average not as good as origins.combat is better and batmobile can be fun in short bursts.but the problem is a lot of people are seeing a grainy picture on big tvs.to much motion blur the constant rain has a lot to do with i was hoping for good graphics o well.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start by saying I am 97% complete with the entire game and have played all the previous Arkham titles. This review is based on the PS4 version.

    Story: The main campaign story is decent. The interactions with Joker are easily the highlight of the campaign. There are several moments that gave me goosebumps and caused me to play that extra 2 hours to see what happened next. Unfortunately, there is a lot of filler and the main villain is probably the least interesting character in the story. There is definitely a theme of investigate this, fight this guy, have a neutral outcome, and repeat. The biggest disappointment in the story was the Arkham Knight's reveal. It was foreshadowed much earlier on in the campaign and the hours of game play leading up to the reveal is rather frustrating since you know what is coming, yet hoops must be jumped through to get there. The side missions were fun for the first few rounds, but became VERY repetitive. The second biggest problem with the story is the fact you have to 100% every mission to see the full ending. Completionists may argue for this approach, however this is such a theatrical and story driven franchise that wasting hours and hours of collecting the hundreds of Riddler trophies sucks all the joy out of getting to see that full ending. 6/10

    Game play: The combat is excellent as always. There is a lot of forgiveness in the sense that you can leap and punch people from tens of meters away and leap back to the previous enemy with a touch of a button. The early fights of the game are very easy. The more you progress, the harder the fights become. You won't get away with just spamming the punch button and I found the fights to be challenging, fair, and enjoyable. The two worst parts of the game mechanics are the batmobile and the "boss battles". First the batmobile is truely awesome.... for about the first 30 minutes. After you have played with it, realized how powerful you are, and leaped from the tops of buildings into the car, you quickly realize again the repetition required for every instance where the batmobile is required. Every encounter is boiled down to A) Guard X while it is assaulted by drones or B) Use the power winch to climb/charge Y. Some sequences are extra creative by combining the previously mentioned encounters. 4/10 for repetition of sequences and use of the batmobile.

    Appearance: Gotham looks amazing. It is a shame that the PC version won't work properly because I can imagine that this game would be gorgeous. I encountered a few minor glitches that did not effect playing but did take away from the immersion. The voice acting is excellent as expected from the Arkham series. 8/10

    Overall: Though I find this game VERY repetitive, it still kept my attention. I will say that I am biased because I just like batman. If you're not a completionist or into batman lore, I would think that many players would grow tired of the game at about the half way point. The repetition and predictable reveal bring the overall rating to a 6/10.    … Expand

    Alright so this game is definitely very well put together, and is the best of the series. It starts off normal and then things pick up pretty quickly near the end. Just like how I feel all games should be set out. The negative aspect is that it gets hard AF and I caught myself swearing and wanting to break something a few times, especially playing on hard. It's not nearly as suspense filled or well thought out as the first two in the series but still enjoyable.An interesting but perdictable story with a proper conclusion.It's definitely worth playing through if you're a fan of the Arkham series of games but feels like it was rushed like Arkham Origins.     Pros
    -Improved textures/graphics/character models
    -Great Sountrack more of the same dah dat dat dant dah that we all enjoy.
    -Great Voice acting from the entire cast, no amount of Bat-Tanks could ruin that.
    -The inclusion of The Joker within the main story was brilliant.
    -The Bat-mobile was a lot fun to drive and easy to control.Being able to call it in remotely to solve puzzle sections and take down enemies in pre-planned main story sections was fun I wish they would have limited the bat-mobile to just a handful of those sections and not shove the Tank down our throats like they did.
    -The map although a bit bland and lacking any real DC/Batman Universe References was at least a lot larger in scale horizontally and vertically, it allows for better flight control and gives you Multiple Vantage points to take down enemies except in predator sections where enemies are cluttered in a single space and are all wielding guns.

    Cons
    -No Paul Dini = more plot holes and filler Bat-Tank sections.
    -The Arkham Knight was obviously Jason Todd it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. They drop some very unnecessary clues at the beginning of the game even though most of us already know .They didn't need to borrow dialogue from the Red Hood Movie and make it even more obvious then it was but they did. The moment when he takes off his mask to show his Red Hood Mask was a real kick in the nuts. People Praise how respectful Rocksteady has been with the franchise so far but creating an Alter Ego For Jason Todd/Robin even though he's already an alter ego of himself is just plain lazy. This is the kinda thing I've come to expect in Comic Book Movie re-makes and I wasn't expecting it in a game from Rocksteady.They should of kept Paul Dini on as a writer cause I'm sure he would have come up with something better then putting another costume on top of the Red Hoods costume.
    -Lack of any real Boss-Fights.
    Batman and The Arkham Knight spend most of their time riding around in Tanks but when they finally meet face to face there's a short QTE fist fight with the Arkham Knight followed by a Gasp from Alfred with a bit of boo-hoo you didn't protect me Batman back and forth with Jason Todd followed by a long and drawn out Predator section.Through it all your left wondering why has a Red Hood mask under his AK mask when The Red Hood hasn't been introduced in the Batman Arkham Universe yet. The Boss fights are what I missed most from the last game.They couldn't even throw in a quick fight with Bane or a proper fight with Jason Todd.
    -The Bat-Tank was way over-used.The game feels like it's 50% Story and 50% Bat-Tank sections.
    I hated the Tank it did nothing to move along an already slow moving some-what perdictable plot. I got stuck in certain sections where The Bat-tank was outnumbered by much more powerful and slightly faster tanks running around in circles in what turned out to be several half-baked attempts at Boss Fights. Also there's a part where your surrounded by 50 of em(hope your leveled up enough by that point or you'll be playing through that section over and over again)It feels like the games trying to hold you back so that you don't realize how short the coherent and enjoyable sections of the Main story really are.I would have been okay with a shorter story without all the filler but the Bat-Tank Story had to be told and tell it they did.
    -Lack of Good Easter Eggs.
    When you look Back to Arkham City you quickly realize that Rocksteady already made every Batman Reference possible so all we get here is a handful of obscure Easter Eggs that only the most Hard-Core Batman/DC fans will understand and what's worse is that they cut and paste most of them through the entire Map.
    -Glitches right from the beginning. My game crashed a couple of time but the Auto-Save was able to take me back to my last check-point each time so there wasn't much backtracking. The Glitches I experienced affected everything from the music/sound/voices cutting in and out or going very quiet in cut-scenes to Some texture pop-ins and occasionally clipping through a floors.    … Expand

    Before I explain why I gave this game such a sub-par rating, I'm going to say that this game is a good Batman game. Rocksteady nails the atmosphere of Batman every single time, and this time is no differnet. However there are many shortcomings this game possesses which makes it a disappointing finale to the Arkham series. First of all let`s address the elephant in the room, the batmobile.Before I explain why I gave this game such a sub-par rating, I'm going to say that this game is a good Batman game. Rocksteady nails the atmosphere of Batman every single time, and this time is no differnet. However there are many shortcomings this game possesses which makes it a disappointing finale to the Arkham series. First of all let`s address the elephant in the room, the batmobile. I think it was a great improvement to add Batman`s signature vehicle to the game, however Rocksteady forces it far too much to the point where I almost forget I`m playing a Batman game and rather some tank simulator. The game as a whole has a prominent militaristic vibe which sets it apart from the other games. Rather than chasing down the Joker like in previous games, you`re going toe-to-toe with an entire private army. While they nailed Scarecrow`s look and personality, the main villain also comes up very short as you rarely even interact with him. When I first got this game I was expecting experiences with Scarecrow to be similar to the ones in Asylum where you hallucinated and fought a giant version of himself. None of that happens in this game as there aren`t really any boss fights in this game in general. Boss fights are what made Arkham Asylum, City and Origins so good. For some reason Rocksteady ditches this idea entirely in favor of bland, tank battles. This game does shine in freedom and side quests in my opinion. The side missions in Knight are very unique to each other, and each time you`re doing something different which keeps it interesting. The map is a lot bigger than its previous entries which gives you lots of room to speed around with the batmobile in. The environment is largely destructible as well which adds a lot of polish to the world. Also, this game`s overall atmosphere is incredibly dark (which explains the M rating). I think this is a strength to a Batman game, and the constant psychological battle Batman undergoes is what makes the story so interesting. Overall, this is an incredible Batman game, however compared to its predecessors and considering this is supposed to be the finale, it is very disappointing.     Somehow, monotone side activities are a perfect match for the game’s atmosphere of bad dream you just can’t wake up from. Disarm a bomb, secure an outpost, disable a watchtower; disarm a bomb, secure an outpost, disable a watchtower; repeat ad nauseam. After 100% completion you’ll feel as tired as Batman himself.
