This game is Batman. If you loved the other ones as I did, then you'll love this one as well. If you're looking for something brand new and different from the other ones, than you'll be disappointed. This is everything that I wanted in the game and more! Also, DLC is NOT how I would describe this game since there are none out there except for the preorder stuff.

Simply doesn't live up to the hype of the first two. The story is lazy, the worst part being the reveal of who the Arkham Knight is. The batmobile is also not fun, and the boss fights are terrible. I would've said wait for the GOTY edition, but I doubt it's even good enough of a game to warrant such an edition down the road. Very disappointed Asylum and City fan here.

Great game, I loved using the batmobile. One thing was that fights were pretty easy, not much of a challenge. The story is good. I loved trying to take out armed enemies. Must-buy if you like that type of game.

This game properly gives us the Batman we deserve, introduces us to possibly the best car in video game history, and has stunning graphics and a gripping story, featuring the return of the Joker, Deathstroke, and Firefly, and bringing even more characters from DC Comics into the story, including Jason Todd, Nyssa Raatko, and Professor Pyg. How awesome is it to be the most badass super hero in the DC Universe? I’ll tell you. It’s the awesome-est. The fluid fights and the stellar combat is where this game is unrivaled at. From Asylum to Knight, the combat has never failed.

However, the Batmobile seems to star in it a little more than the title character. It’s not too bad in my opinion though. Where I think this game struggles is the story. Although the ending is badass, the reveal of the Arkham Knight’s identity and Scarecrow not really doing anything despite being the main villain is a bit underwhelming. Batman's end of the story is not bad, but the rest is rather dull. I won't get into more detail in order to avoid spoilers.

Other than that, you can bet that Batman will be Batman.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First off, the previous entries - Asylum and City - are perfection and if you haven't played those already, go and buy the collection, you wont regret it! (ignore Arkham Origins, it's beyond terrible).

Now, onto Arkham Knight. The backdrop this time is the City of Gotham, with it's art deco/gothic architecture, lent from the Tim Burton films and the 90's Animated Series (perfect). The story's main protagonists are the Scarecrow and the mysterious Arkham Knight, who have launched a city-wide attack causing the whole population to evacuate in terror. The only ones who remain are the usual faces from the caped crusader's rogues gallery and their goons, who are aiding Scarecrow and the Arkham Knight in bringing down Gotham and its masked hero.

Currently at the time of typing this up I'm 50% through the main story and have been playing for roughly ten hours or so.

The controls to me are very odd because for Asylum and City the controls were the same but this time around they have been altered slightly - for example, in the previous two games clicking RB after applying some explosive gel to a surface would have detonated it but in this you have to click in the Left Stick. Also, detective mode is now toggled by pressing up on the D-pad as apposed to LB. I found, on many occasions that muscle memory kicked in and I went to do certain actions but ended up doing something else due to the changes.

The games have not had the Batmobile in as a drivable vehicle until now! What a dream, the Arkham series finally allows you do commandeer the Batmobile. Brilliant! WRONG! The Batmobile is probably the weakest aspect of the game and each one of the forced driving sections left me bored beyond belief - they probably don't even last that long but with them being so tediously mundane they felt longer than they actually were. The controls for this were shockingly awkward. Forget everything you've ever learnt about driving in games and prepare to be thrown by the strange configuration that left me feeling less and less like Batman and more like some random bozo that had got behind the wheel and was just pressing random buttons. It's also very apparent that the layout of Gotham is not made for the caped crusader's vehicle and is more for the traditional grapple/flight traversal - the streets are so tight and winding that I was constantly breaking due to a sharp bend or some large obnoxious object in the way of the road. Now, I'm no expert but I can't remember a time seeing Batman going about 20mph while chasing some goons? I mean, the animated series used the sound of a speeding jet for Batman's car! The Batmobile really drew away the genuine feeling of being Batman that the last two games achieved perfectly.

I found a lot of moments really broke the flow of the game as well - in the last games, you were in constant contact with your trusted companions, such as Oracle and Alfred, through your audio uplink in the batsuit, this allowed you to make your way to the next objective while also being filled in with important information and story points. For some reason, in Arkham Knight you are forced to stop (sometimes for up to a couple of minutes) while you have a holographic call through some snazzy gadget on your wrist. This got tiring very quickly to the point I just skipped most of it because I wanted to get on with playing. The interludes with Lucius Fox were also very tiresome - having to break away from the story to select a mediocre upgrade for my Batmobile and then having to go to a hidden garage to then have it installed and then having to watch said installation for about 30 seconds like I'm supposed to be impressed like "cool that machine to just took the tyres off and put new ones on that look even more snazzy than the last ones. Woah technology". Boring, just get on with the game please!

The story wasn't bad but it wasn't great either and it's blatantly obvious that Paul Dini, the mind behind the stories for Asylum, City and many of the iconic episodes for the Batman Animated Series, wasn't involved. Rocksteady instead decided to bring in some of their own writers to pen the story of this instalment and it really shows. It's nothing special really and lacks the twists and turns and overall genius that the others brought to the table.

Overall, the game is worth playing with it being the final instalment in the Arkham series but it is certainly the weakest of them all sadly. Odd controls, a mediocre story with the only saving grace being the combat and setting.

This upsets me more than you can know. Arkham Knight isn't a bad game but it isn't even close to the brilliance of City and Asylum. The story is rather uninspired as compared to the last few games, with only a few key characteristics making it enjoyable. Without these though, the story does nothing to impress. The combat and predator sections have been greatly improved however, this time introducing complexity that actually makes the game better, not just more layered. The rest felt stretched out so thin, if it was any longer it would break. I felt I was constantly chasing with no real purpose apart from reaching the end. It also threw a storyline in that wasn't covered in the previous games which i felt was just added to "bulk it out". The side missions felt like a chore to complete (with the exception of the cat woman ones) as they were samey and repetitive, much like playing the first assassins creed, leaving me bored and unsatisfied. Some of the major selling points were the fully free roaming Gotham (which was as free roaming as city and origins was. No more) and the much sought after batmobile. Well the batmobile is a little confusing to master with confusing controls, and after being forced to use it in most of the missions and increasingly difficult to battles, I found myself getting frustrated and not wanting to use it. So overall I felt the game was weak, forced and repetitive, leaving a mediocre playing experience. Expand

Gameplay is pure Arkham, but sufficiently upgraded from the previous games. Knight knocks this out of the park where Origins fell short. The expanded functionality of the Remote Hacking Tool and Disruptor alone fulfill this, IMO. There are far more ways to take down enemies now, both in fights and in stealth, thanks to not only the new features but also the...

New upgrade system! The different tiers are great; it really lets you choose how you want to play the game. I personally invested in stealth, which made the fights a bit harder for me. But that was my choice, NOT broken gameplay.

Fighting received a bit less of a freshening-up than stealth I think, but I don't think it NEEDED much of one. New enemies are the biggest addition, making some later fights pretty darn challenging (a good thing). The dual-team fighting is cool too, although I wish there was more of it.

Stealth gets great new additions thanks to great new gadget options and environmental takedowns. There are some new stealth movement additions as well.

Now to the Batmobile. When it first shows up, you'll wet yourself, because its an Arkham game and IT'S THE BATMOBILE. It's a lot of fun to drive around, though there is a bit of a learning curve (but not bad) on maneuvering it. Other reviewers clearly don't understand this; sorry that this game actually makes you work to be good at something. Taking out thug cars as you're driving around NEVER gets old. I didn't find the battles to be as bad as others make them out to be, though I do agree that the its-ok-to-have-a-cannon-cause-they're-unmanned-drones excuse to be a bit weak. It combines dodging and shooting in an interesting vehicular way, and new drone types definitely mix it up and add challenge later. Of course, the Batmobile gets upgraded with cool new gadgets and weaponry as well. You also use the Batmobile in puzzle situations, which is an awesome feature. I thought the Riddler trophies involving the Batmobile were some of the best. It makes you think outside the box, if you were really comfortable with previous Arkham games.

Overall, this is the best game I've played on Xbox One so far. It looks fantastic, HUGE graphical and framerate improvement from the previous games. It's challenging, thanks to a new gameplay pillar and new additions to the tried and true ones. It's expansive (definitely larger than City) and getting from A to B is even more fun after you master driving the Batmobile. It's dark, which it SHOULD BE because BATMAN IS A DARK CHARACTER. A+ for finally giving us an M-rated Arkham game.

Verdict: 95. Easily. Even if you knock it more than I did on certain things, there's no way a score should ever be below an 85. This game is simply that good. It's fantastic. You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't pick it up.

P.S. The way the Joker is incorporated ALONE should win this game several writing awards.

The story arc was good and the big reveal is foreshadowed to the point that experienced bat people should be able to deduce who the featured enemy's identity is. - Story is surprisingly weak: dialogue feels like a comic book at times (not in a good way). story can be predictable due to some writing issues
    - Batmobile is kinda fun at first but gets tiresome. Would have been nice as an optional mode or with more features to prevent it from becoming dull.
    - sometimes feels like story elements have been left out, possibly for future DLC.

    Summary
It's good. The bad stuff I said really didn't detract from the experience that much. Rocksteady's goal was to make you feel like the batman and they did just that. If you're not a huge fan of the series maybe hold out for the GOTY edition. If you love the Arkham series I would recommend picking it up now before anyone spoils the ending for you. Hope this review helped.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Batman Arkham games are, for the most part, beautifully designed and fun to play, and Arkham Knight is no exception (even though the developers went overboard with the Batmobile's presence). When Gotham gets covered by Scarecrow's gas was a standout moment due to its frightening vibe and imposing imagery (I get the impression the brown color palette was inspired by Batman Begins). The environments aren't as imaginative as in Asylum or City, but they still keep you engaged.

But truth be told, I found it quite underwhelming in the story department, especially considering it was supposed to be an "epic conclusion" for the saga. Just like the previous games, it ended up becoming a Joker porn experience. Watching him appear out of nowhere in virtually every scene to point out the obvious and that he and Batman are the same for the thousandth time was pretty grating and had the subtlety of a Times Square billboard. Batman and Gordon were written a bit out of character (they surrendered to Scarecrow way too easily), and even though John Noble was good as Scarecrow, I found the Arkham Asylum version to be more memorable.

The most disappointing part is the Arkham Knight himself. Rocksteady and DC promised a brand new character, and by implication, their chance to leave their mark in the Batman mythos outside of the comics, like Paul Dini did with Harley Quinn in the animated series. Instead, his story arc turns out to be a rehash of the Red Hood saga, and one that misses the point of the character. Jason Todd wasn't supposed to be a villain, but an antihero. DC's version of the Punisher if you will. A man that went through a traumatic experience and wants to do the right thing, but has such extreme methods that is seen as an enemy by other heroes. His characterization makes his hero-turn at the ending a gigantic Deus ex machina.

Just like Arkham City, Arkham Knight is a nice looking game ruined by an overblown and generic story. I'd say it's worth buying until there's a price drop or a "Game of the year" edition.

This game is definitely worth having. It is like the last 360 ones I have played. The graphics are obviously much better, and they have added the car. The game mechanics are essentially the same, the fighting moves seem better to me. The story is very similar. It has the same kind of upgrade system as the other games. In fact the game is fantastic.

Except for the BATMOBILE!!! At first the car is awesome. It is a tank, it handles nice, considering this isn't a driving game. It is all you thought it was in the previews. But then very quickly it appears the design team decided that fans of the Batman series must be fans of all the car games out there. And then the car becomes a horrible 15k ton (or whatever it weighs) weight around your ankle. Whose only mission seems to be to destroy you enjoying this game. Seriously the fist car mission was so stupid, I almost wanted to quit the game. The batmobile was even in the Riddler's puzzles.

Seriously the car stuff is just suffocating. Then I got pulled back into the story. I haven't finished the game, but it is a great game. I am still playing and enjoying it. Except the game does have this absurd need to tie you to the Batmobile. Honestly, at times you will say, just send the Batmobile. It should of been this awesome addition to the game, that made travel so much more fun and combat more exciting. But in the end it drags the game down so much it is the reason I have to give this game an 8.

Honestly the car becomes such a crutch, it should of been used as a vehicle for a Batgirl story. After all she is in a wheelchair now and reliance on the car would of made sense in the story. In that case it would of been a award winning story showing her strength of character and indomitable spirit. But in the context of a vehicle for Batman it is receiving way to much story share. At times it will seem like this game should be called the Batmobile verses the Arkham Knight.

If you've enjoyed any Arkham title, then you will enjoy this game. I see people hating on the graphics, but they are "as advertised" which is amazing. The combat feels familiar with some new wrinkles to freshen it up a bit. Gotham looks better than ever. The chatter you hear from the thugs is satisfyingly entertaining. Now for the elephant in the room. I would have scored this a 9 or possibly 10 if not for the Batmobile. These segments are not very enjoyable. Handling is way too sloppy arcadey feeling. Most of the time they feel tacked on, but I think they had good intentions as a way to add variety of glide....claw.....claw....glide....fight thugs....repeat. All around good game though. This is the best game in the series by far. I went into this from high hopes from its previous predecessor Arkham City, i was not let down. The game had a slow start and later became such an interesting plot you begged for more. I could tell there was a smile on my face when many things i witnessed gave me nardgasms. The Arkham series went out with a bang.

OK so this will be a short review.

Did you like the first two game? do you want the same thing with a bigger better designed city? Do you want stunning graphics and seamless transitions from gameplay to cut scenes? how about no loading screens? What about new gadgets, new upgrades and combat moves and a refined and perfected version of the systems established in the previous games?

Finally do you want to tear around Gotham in a giant suped up sports car/tank that demolishes pretty much anything in it path?

If the answer is yes then buy this game! The only things you will have to endure are a slight overuse of the tank mode in the story and the integration of the Batomblie in to Puzzles(which I don’t mind) other then a few issues that are generic game logic not meshing with real logic type things your good to go!

Make no mistake this isn’t a perfect game but it's damn entertaining and worthy sequel, if you like Batman then why wouldn’t you want to play a game that’s basically Batman: The simulator V 3.0?

Graphics: Awesome at first, in the beginning when the story was being told, i thought this to be pre rendered, but later i got the controlls handed to me. This was a great surprise. Only negative thing is it always rains, and it's always dark. But other than this, slick, smooth, and captures the mood perfectly.

Sound/voice acting: Both drag you right in the story. It feels like you are the lead character in this new Batman movie. Can't fault it on anything.

Game play: Smooth, responsive, and the way the game learns you something new while the story progresses is superbly done. The driving in the Batmobile is awesome, and somehow i also love to shoot in tank mode. Can't fault this too, as it is just how i feel it should be.

Overall: I'm more of a Spiderman fan, but this is a great way showing how a game based on a comic hero can be done. The only reasons i can't score this a perfect 10 is i was a bit disapointed how small the town was after a long playing session, and in what part of the world does it only rains, and never get to see the light of day? I know the rain reflection and raindrops look cool, but this game could have used some difference in the background, it all looks so black and shiny now.

This was a solid game. Batmobile was a pretty good addition but over used. I loved playing with it but they force you to use it on way too many missions. It would have been ok if the game was longer and had a few more side missions to do but the way it is it just feels like you are always using the Batmobile.

The graphics are beautiful and well designed. The story was kind of intriguing but didn't keep me on the edge of my seat or really draw me in, until the very end. The fighting in the game was fun but did kind of get repetitive after awhile. The more you progressed the more I had to think about my strategy in taking down my enemies. Your health doesn't advance until after defeating the group of enemies. So it made me want to avoid being hit and brought a tougher element to the game in that aspect. The puzzles in the game weren't all that hard but also not so easy they can't be solved. The Batmobile added a nice element to the game and was required for some missions.

Now for the bad part of the game. Like I said earlier some of the fighting in the game got repetitive. TAlso to get the full ending of the game you have to complete every mission a complete 100%. That wouldn't be so bad except there are over 200 Riddler Trophies to be discovered. This gets very tedious in the game.

The DLC's that have been released are fun but very short. I have the played as Red Hood, Harley Quinn and Batgirl mission. Very short but enjoyable.

Overall this is a must have game that is enjoyable for all to play.

Batman: Arkham Knight follows the adventures of Batman in this latest installment of Batman games. An effort is made to keep spoilers to a minimum in this short review. Please keep in mind that this review is subjective, as well as the opinions below do not necessarily reflect a gaming experience on other platforms. Also, I should mention that a very similar review was written by my sisterBatman: Arkham Knight follows the adventures of Batman in this latest installment of Batman games. An effort is made to keep spoilers to a minimum in this short review. Please keep in mind that this review is subjective, as well as the opinions below do not necessarily reflect a gaming experience on other platforms. Also, I should mention that a very similar review was written by my sister for the PS4 version, but I am of the same opinion as her regarding the Xbox version.

In my opinion, the presentation of the game is very good. The game has a very high level of detail and graphical fidelity. At the same time, the frame rate is generally smooth and consistent. As graphical glitches are rare and far between, the game looks great and provide the player with great visuals. The audio is very good as well with nice environmental effects, good voice acting and a very good soundtrack. Overall, both the visuals and the audio help the player to have an immersive experience.

As for the story, Scarecrow is back and it is up to Batman to stop him and his band of other villains. The game structure has been divided into a main story arc and side stories, and the player can choose when to advance the main story. As such, the player have some influence over the pace of which to complete the game. It is worth mentioning that the storyline is rather linear and predictable, and some people may find the plot to be weak and dull overall. However, it is possible to do various side activities and missions which add a little bit of variety to the game.

Many of the game mechanics are very similar to previous installments. Batman has the ability to move around on the ground or in the air, and much of the fighting consists of hand-to-hand combat. The combat segments feel fluid and smooth, with a blend of fast-paced moves and slow motion knockdowns. Fighting styles and moves can being upgraded as one earn skill points and XP. Further, it is possible to acquire various gadgets which can be purchased with skill points among others. A new addition to the series is the ability to use the Batmobile. By using the Batmobile, the player participate in car chases and races, as well as fight enemies, for instance vehicles and tanks.

In terms of gameplay however, the enemy variety is rather limited which may be off-putting to some people. At the same time, the boss battles are somewhat mediocre, and the game may seem a bit easy for a player who is familiar with these kind of games. While the introduction of Batmobile adds more gameplay, some people may find it to be overused at times. The racing sections may feel out of place once in awhile and the combat sections involving the Batmobile lack a bit of variety.

In summary, Batman: Arkham Knight is a mixed bag of positives and negatives. In my opinion, it is a good game and I would recommend it to fans of the series. For other gamers who are not familiar with the Batman games, Batman: Arkham Knight may seem to be a bit generic at times. However, I would still recommend the game to fans of action/racing games when the price drops.

It's disappointing that this game couldn't include more options for different styles. The potential is there, but sadly it's very narrowed. Expand

The Batmobile is an interesting addition to gameplay and the story is well crafted. The Batmobile is used in quite a few scenarios throughout the main story, however it is not always mandatory to use it to get around. Often when I am not required to use it for an objective, whether main scenario or side mission, I find myself enjoying the enhanced gliding system in this game. It's what the other Arkham games (IDK about Origins, didn't play it) were and a bit more, I felt more freedom than I ever did in either at it feels really nice. Then again, I do like story driven games and this one is really good to me.

    3. How can you hit a wooden box and have it fling you off course (awful in a chase sequence)
    4. The First Person view is 6 inches off the floor.
    5. Every time you nudge a car off the road in a chase you get a slowmo drama shot which is annoying as hell.

Unlike a lot of Batmobile haters I loved the APC chases and wish there could have been more. But the real change I wish I could have seen was MAKE THE BATMOBILE AN OPTIONAL GADGET IN BATMAN'S TOOL CHEST. Open world games are all about choice. Giving people choice and then telling you that you have to complete the mission one specific way is very confusing.

Arkham Asylum and Arkham City gave you the option to go in as predator or head on combat. Now you are told the tanks can be only done by head on combat, combat, combat. I would have preferred a stealth option (and not the diabolical stealth tank hunt that should never have been included.

Also the DLC Harley Quinn and Red Hood missions are really, REALLY short.

I can honestly say this is the most fun I've had on my Xbox One in MONTHS. I tend to keep up with all the latest stuff and comparatively, this game blows away a lot of the other titles in the XB1 repository. To comic book fans, the story reveal may be obvious but I imagine for those unfamiliar with Batman lore, the reveal is pretty stunning. Also, in so far as the batmobile is concerned… I love it. Really, I think it's great. People are not appreciating what it takes for a development team to include a gameplay element like that—one that's so markedly different from the core fighting aspect of the game. It basically requires the devs to put two games into one. It's difficult to do, and I think they did a fantastic job of melding the two gameplay types together into a single cohesive experience. I personally looked forward to all the batmobile moments, and loved every part of it, both driving and combat. Last thing, the story missions in the game are NOT tedious *nor* repetitive, which is awesome. In a lot of games (Witcher 3, ESO, Shadow Warrior, Forza Horizon 2, etc.) the basic missions (story mode, general progression, etc.) become repetitive half way through and you're kind of left with a "yeah, I get it" feeling. In this game? Nope. Missions tend to all be different while still relying on same set of core mechanics. Again, loved the game. 10/10. Expand

The voice acting, like the others, was occasionally cheesy, but overall was good.

The fighting feels even more polished than the previous Arkham games. The down side is that smaller fights can be incredibly easy. Even the larger fights (15-20 guys) are not too difficult. There are several opportunities to fight alongside allies and switch between characters which adds depth and excitement to the battles.

The use of the Batmobile can feel excessive at times, but is a great addition to the game. The driving controls feel strange at first, especially if you're used to racing games. However, once you get used to them, you will be ripping through the streets of Gotham. I feel like if they hadn't added the Batmobile, it would be just like the other games. People have called the Batmobile a "crutch." That is an exaggeration and people are just being whiny.

Overall I give the game a 9/10. The reasons it is not a 10/10 being the easy fighting, the occasional bad voice acting and dialogue, and the OCCASIONAL overuse of the Batmobile. This is a great game and would recommend to anyone.

On the other hand though, the mechanisms they used to deliver this story (gameplay) was something that I have serious problems with. This title is loaded with anti-climactic non-engagements with many of the main villains, and has absolutely ZERO boss fights.

Some will argue that the vehicle battles with the Arkham Knight leading up to the final encounter with him would count as a boss fight, or that the final vehicle battle with Deathstroke is a boss fight (which is exactly the same tank battle as the one with the Arkham Knight). Those people would be missing the point entirely. There is absolutely no direct engagement with any of Batman's rivals WHAT. SO. EVER. Not in any way that should be considered a "boss fight" anyway.

It's almost kind of cruel that the game is designed for you to go through the "Most Wanted" quest lines, which are basically side quests that have the player going after the various major villains that are central to the Batman stories, and once the player completes the quest line, they might be rewarded with a pseudo-boss fight (as with Deathstroke), or get to make a "life-or-death" decision (as with the Azrael quest line), but no actual fight or battle takes place that presents the player with anything that resembles a challenge.

Having a great story is a very important part of a great game, but robbing your customers and fans of any sort of finality or closure by not giving them any engagement whatsoever with any villain in the game other than vehicle fights and skirmishes with henchmen is, at least in my mind, extremely lazy and unforgivable.

The script for this game would have been better off being sold off to an animation studio for another animated Batman movie because that's essentially what Rocksteady gave us with this title...an interactive animated movie.

It's unfortunate because up to this point, I really enjoyed the blending of a great story with an action packed games through the Arkham titles, with boss battles that while not the most difficult in the world, presented some challenge and kept me engaged with the story that was being conveyed. The formula for Arkham Knight just fell way too short for me.

I would strongly recommend waiting to find this game in the bargain bin. Definitely do yourselves a favor and don't make the same mistake I did by paying full price for this "game."

The Arkham Knight is the some what focus of this game (Hints the name) and he is a unknown villain hell bent on bringing Batman to his kneels and getting his revenge. Him and his Men are the most prepared and well armed when it comes to fighting the Batman. The combat to the game is very fluid and smooth with only a few times where you get mad at Batman for not doing even remotely close to what you wanted him to, other then those odd points the combat is very enjoyable. The environments mostly give you multiple ways to handle a situation rather it be stealth from below/above or a all out brawl or something in-between. The addition of the Batmobile adds a whole new level of combat to the game with the ability to call in the Tank/Super Car with a press of a button you are able to use it to take out enemy checkpoints, Tanks or whatever you need. The Batmobile is extremely fun to drive with it smashing through parts of builds and pushing cars, Also drifting corners and hitting jumps is fun. There are a few Riddler challenges and story missions that build some puzzles around the Batmobile witch can get boring and repetitive but still nice to see them work the vehicle into some puzzles. The game is also full of things to do with tons of side missions to track down and finish, from Hostage's to save,Murders to Solve or other villains to hunt down and lock up. That is still the plan but I'm starting to want to quit and sell it now because the gameplay is extremely repetitive and boring. every mission is the same mix of beat up a bunch of bad guys using frustratingly bad fighting mechanics and shoot a bunch of things with the Batmobile's only weapon that really does anything. The story has been the only thing keeping me playing but even that is starting to drag on. The only quests that I look forward to playing are the Riddler side quests because they have some puzzle to them and have something other than hitting the x and y button over and over again. The most entertainment I have gotten so far from this game is having the joker inside your head. His witty and devious remarks have been a bright spot in a rather bland game. Is it enough to keep me going after I finish the Riddler's quests... probably not Expand

Worst port from Rocksteady Batman game, seems they optimized the game for PS4 not XO or PC. They are just sellout and huge disappointment this game cant reach 60 FPS. Glad they are loosing the franchise to someone else, this is just a sad port.

Compared to the rest of the Arkham series, I think this one is a pretty good culmination to the story. The game mechanics are pretty much the same, with the relatively fun addition of the Batmobile and some other gadgets to the line up. Most of the villains from the previous games make an appearance or feature largely in the main story line, with a couple of unexpected additions through the game. Some of the villains only make what seem like cameo appearances in the Gotham's Most Wanted Missions, which seems kind of like a missed opportunity in some cases, but overall they really serve to tie up loose ends from the previous games.

I was a little disappointed in the climax of the story, and hoped that my assumptions of who the Arkham Knight was wouldn't be right (they were by the way), but it didn't necessarily take away from how good the game plays and feels. The combat and predator sections are challenging, and offer some pretty interesting encounters through out the game, which helps the over all experience for those who love the combat system. One thing that felt over used, which seems to be a commonality, is the overuse of the Batmobile and how overpowered it can feel compared to the rest of the vehicles in Gotham. I never failed a combat challenge in the Batmobile, so that's something I guess.

Overall, I'd say that if you enjoy the previous games and want to see the conclusion of the series, I would say that the $60 is well worth the cost compared to what's delivered. If you're on the fence, you can wait till the price drop in a few months, or wait a year till the GOTY edition comes out with the DLC.

Asylum and City had amazing dynamic super villain fight. Knight literally has no real super villain fight. The fights are done exclusively in cinemas. I am not exagerrating.(The closest thing to a boss fight is two IDENTICAL tank fights and a sequence where the Arkham Knight sits on gargoyles and you have to get under him and grapple up so the game can show you a cinema of Batman hitting him.) You never actually fight anything more than the standard minions. Scarecrow? The mastermind behind this final assault on Gotham? You never fight him. He is taken care of in a cinema just like EVERY other super villain is.

The crime scene detective sequences are replaced with a handful of hanging bodies that you scan for three easy to find clues. There are something like six of those and it's the same routine every time.

The story has its issues but is decent if you can ignore some major holes in the plot. There are some genuinely touching character moments. Poison Ivy has a particularly touching moment.

The side missions are phoned in lazy additions to the game. For example: When you do the Firefly side missions, it's the same every time. Find burning firehouse. Use car to get the sprinklers running agan. Chase Firefly with car until you get close enough to tap A twice and watch a short cinema where Batman beat on Firefly a bit until he jets off. You follow that pattern five or six times with no deviation. In the last mission of each side mission, a cinema shows Batman apprehending the villain. The only participation you do is after Batman places the villain in the back of the Batmobile. You get to drive the bad guy to GCPD.

Get used to the first mission of each side mission. You'll be doing that same thing between 4-8 times. No variety. No inventive use of anything.

You will only ever fight the cannon fodder minions. You never fight any super villains because the fights with them are done in cinemas. I have everything done 100% except The Riddler. I have 23 trophies left before I can finally get him, so there is a slight chance he could be the only super villain fight in the game. Sadly, he is more likely to be another fight done in a cinema like all of the others.

I give the game a 6. It's like they listed all of the things people loved about the previous games and chose not to include any of those signatures of the series. The combat is still smooth and well done. The Batmobile isn't everyone's favorite, but I didn't mind it.

This game, sadly, got struck by the curse of "The Third Game" and ended up being a far inferior game compared to the rest of the series.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While it was nice to see graphical and lighting improvements over the last two "true" batman games, this still falls very short of what it could've been. While I generally enjoyed the storyline, there were zero plot twists, and World of Tanks: Batman Edition was way over the top. IMO the game could've used more detective mode sequences where Batman reconstructs the crime scene, sadly this was much underused in this game. I enjoyed the qusai homage paid to "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight Rises" where the house blows up and Brue just disapears. I felt that they could've used this game to roll into a batman vs. superman as a few of the henchmen in the game mention "that guy in metropolis city." I know there haven't really been any decent Superman games to date, but this could've been Rocksteady's chance to do something special. But seriously, less BAT-TANK and more engrossed story telling would've went a long way, and the battle with Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke is a one punch knock out?! That guy is pumped up on so much miracuroo it's not even funny. This game like so many others was advertised as a juicy 16oz porter house steak and instead all we got was an 8oz round steak. Expand

its average not as good as origins.combat is better and batmobile can be fun in short bursts.but the problem is a lot of people are seeing a grainy picture on big tvs.to much motion blur the constant rain has a lot to do with i was hoping for good graphics o well.

I had fun playing through this one even with all of it's flaws. It's not nearly as suspense filled or well thought out as the first two in the series but still enjoyable. An interesting but perdictable story with a proper conclusion. It's definitely worth playing through if you're a fan of the Arkham series of games but feels like it was rushed like Arkham Origins. It's fine if your playing to wrap up the series and get some closure but If you haven't played the first two in the series then stay far far away from this until it's in a Discount bin somewhere or till they release a GOTY version with all DLC cause it's not worth the full price of admission. This game needs a serious Director's Cut with 90% less Bat-Tank. -------------!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!------------------------------------------

    Pros
    -Improved textures/graphics/character models
-Great Sountrack more of the same dah dat dat dant dah that we all enjoy.
-Great Voice acting from the entire cast, no amount of Bat-Tanks could ruin that.
-The inclusion of The Joker within the main story was brilliant.
-The Bat-mobile was a lot fun to drive and easy to control.Being able to call it in remotely to solve puzzle sections and take down enemies in pre-planned main story sections was fun I wish they would have limited the bat-mobile to just a handful of those sections and not shove the Tank down our throats like they did.
-The map although a bit bland and lacking any real DC/Batman Universe References was at least a lot larger in scale horizontally and vertically, it allows for better flight control and gives you Multiple Vantage points to take down enemies except in predator sections where enemies are cluttered in a single space and are all wielding guns.

    Cons
-No Paul Dini = more plot holes and filler Bat-Tank sections.
-The Arkham Knight was obviously Jason Todd it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. They drop some very unnecessary clues at the beginning of the game even though most of us already know .They didn't need to borrow dialogue from the Red Hood Movie and make it even more obvious then it was but they did. The moment when he takes off his mask to show his Red Hood Mask was a real kick in the nuts. People Praise how respectful Rocksteady has been with the franchise so far but creating an Alter Ego For Jason Todd/Robin even though he's already an alter ego of himself is just plain lazy. This is the kinda thing I've come to expect in Comic Book Movie re-makes and I wasn't expecting it in a game from Rocksteady. They should of kept Paul Dini on as a writer cause I'm sure he would have come up with something better then putting another costume on top of the Red Hoods costume.
    -Lack of any real Boss-Fights.
Batman and The Arkham Knight spend most of their time riding around in Tanks but when they finally meet face to face there's a short QTE fist fight with the Arkham Knight followed by a Gasp from Alfred with a bit of boo-hoo you didn't protect me Batman back and forth with Jason Todd followed by a long and drawn out Predator section.Through it all your left wondering why has a Red Hood mask under his AK mask when The Red Hood hasn't been introduced in the Batman Arkham Universe yet. The Boss fights are what I missed most from the last game. They couldn't even throw in a quick fight with Bane or a proper fight with Jason Todd.
-The Bat-Tank was way over-used.The game feels like it's 50% Story and 50% Bat-Tank sections.
I hated the Tank it did nothing to move along an already slow moving some-what perdictable plot. I got stuck in certain sections where The Bat-tank was outnumbered by much more powerful and slightly faster tanks running around in circles in what turned out to be several half-baked attempts at Boss Fights. Also there's a part where your surrounded by 50 of em(hope your leveled up enough by that point or you'll be playing through that section over and over again)It feels like the games trying to hold you back so that you don't realize how short the coherent and enjoyable sections of the Main story really are.I would have been okay with a shorter story without all the filler but the Bat-Tank Story had to be told and tell it they did.
    -Lack of Good Easter Eggs.
When you look Back to Arkham City you quickly realize that Rocksteady already made every Batman Reference possible so all we get here is a handful of obscure Easter Eggs that only the most Hard-Core Batman/DC fans will understand and what's worse is that they cut and paste most of them through the entire Map.
-Glitches right from the beginning. My game crashed a couple of time but the Auto-Save was able to take me back to my last check-point each time so there wasn't much backtracking. The Glitches I experienced affected everything from the music/sound/voices cutting in and out or going very quiet in cut-scenes to Some texture pop-ins and occasionally clipping through a floors.

  1. Somehow, monotone side activities are a perfect match for the game’s atmosphere of bad dream you just can’t wake up from. Disarm a bomb, secure an outpost, disable a watchtower; disarm a bomb, secure an outpost, disable a watchtower; repeat ad nauseam. After 100% completion you’ll feel as tired as Batman himself. So obviously there were a few things that I didn't like about Arkham Knight and some things that I wished were done better, but overall I did enjoy my time with the game.
