If you own previous –non-Ultimate- versions of this punch-and-kick game there is no reason to buy this one. Otherwise, you should try it – it is still a great fight with crazy visuals and endless multiplayer fun. [Jan 2012]

By all accounts, the game itself is fantastic and much deserved of the score we gave MvC3 but there just isn't enough in UMvC3 to really set it apart as a title in its own right.

A repackaged version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 with added characters, gameplay balancing and slightly improved netcode. For newcomers to the series, getting into this will be a harsh and unforgiving journey, but for fans it's a must thanks to the added characters and slight balance tweaks.

Is it worth it? In a word, yes. [Christmas 2011, p.116]

It's tough because Ultimate MvC3 is a great game and a solid improvement on the fundamentals in the original.

Die-hard players...will certainly get $40 worth of fun out of this release. 12 new characters is huge, and exploring the interplay between them and the tweaked returning cast will provide hours of fun. The much improved online interface is also a huge draw for competitive players. Ultimately (pun intended), the vast majority of UMVC3's new features will only really be appreciated by dedicated players, and for them it's a must have, for everyone else though, it's a harder sell.

Ultimate's new characters, improved online offering and Heroes And Heralds make for a generous package given its budget price-point, and once it clicks, it dazzles.

I personally think it's a little too early and doesn't offer up quite enough content to get me re-excited for the game, but even though I find the upgrade to be kind of minimal, I can't deny that it's still a fun as hell fighting game.

If you never played MvC 3 and love fighting games, this is a recommended buy with a larger roster and more balanced gameplay. But if you already own the previous game, the added content isn't enough to justify the expense. The added fighters aren't charismatic enough and the new Galactus mode just feels like a gimmick. Nothing that couldn't be made with a simple DLC.

Although it's a good fighting game the learning curve is steep and there are not enough news in Ultimate to make it worth your money.

Seriously I paid $60 on day one for MVC3 and now a year later I am expected to drop another $40 for some minor tweaks to the game mode and 12 new fighters. Why couldn't I just download an update for $15-$20 to my HD? I can't knock the game too much it is great game game, a bit of a button masher's paradise not a technical fighter at all, but great visuals and cool characters, alot of fast action fun if you have friends to play with locally, never did like playing fighting games online always more fun to trash talk in person :) But I give it 5 out of 10 because this is the game that should have come out last year. It's almost the same game with fews minors changes ( like spec mode online , new menus, etc) + 12 news charaters and a few more map.In the other hand, if you already bought MVC3 at full price, you might not want to get this again at this price, unless you really wanna play those 12 news charaters. It's like a MW3 in fact , the same game but with some upgrades expect they will tell you it is and won't try to sell it to you like it's a brand new game. It's up to you to decide, but if you like MVC3 you will surely love this one. It's also the only fighting game I've ever played where it's really easy to pull off huge combos, I can pull off combos of around 40-100 hits, which is hugely fun and impressive. The achievements on this game are challenging and fun to recieve, and the game features Marvel and Capcom favourites such as Zero, Spiderman, Rocket raccoon and many many more. Overall this game is very fun and has cartoony, crisp visuals. Buy this game if you want to be impressed by it's epicness! Full Review »
