At first it's pretty bad for no story and pretty much nothing else in the game. This is mainly just for the combat and the excitment of certain characters fighting each other in flashy 100 hit combos that you need to train very very hard just to pull off. This game is only meant for hardcore fighters that are just willing to become to best, rather to have fun. Isn't this why we have DLC? Seriously I paid $60 on day one for MVC3 and now a year later I am expected to drop another $40 for some minor tweaks to the game mode and 12 new fighters. Why couldn't I just download an update for $15-$20 to my HD? I can't knock the game too much it is great game game, a bit of a button masher's paradise not a technical fighter at all, but great visuals andIsn't this why we have DLC? Im a bit of a Streetfighter fan (20 years ) . I own MVC 2 but didnt buy MVC 3 because I was still getting and still am getting a lot of play out of SSF4 AE . I really dig this game its even got a simple mode for non fighters . I played for an hour today with my 6 year old nephew and we had a lot of fun. The simple mode means any one can pick up and play and win. I understand peoplesIm a bit of a Streetfighter fan (20 years ) . A really fun fighting game overall, but seriously lacking. Online is descent, being laggy at times causing matches to become frustrating, but due to the lack of content, you will probably drop it after a while if you don't have online.

Good: Graphics, new mode "Heroes vs Heralds", mini card game, everything else MVC3 was and outstanding attention to detail on what the characters say in victory screens, special moves and even to each other. (The last part assumes the player knows the backstories as well) Also, there HAS to be something said for playing s Galactus!

Bad: If you had MVC3, you'r buying almost the same game

Bad: If you had MVC3, you'r buying almost the same game again. The AI can get really "Cheap". The money grab for DLC costumes (when they are already in the game they just want your $20 to unlock them). Some of these characters can be retired and have new ones bought in. I'm looking at you Morrigan.

Summary: If you like the "versus" games (and a extra $40 in case you have MVC3) you can't go wrong here. The game does need some tweaks and re working, but it's a graphically fun button masher with just enough skill needed to play and enjoy for months.

When will Capcom stop this greedy move? It has great graphics, it has good gameplay (some characters only, some characters' gameplay it's dumb and not funny at all... maybe that's why you see the same teams over and over in online matches) why didn't they just include this as DLC and not as a whole new game? they will keep losing fans.

When the first teasers came out (for MVC3) I was expecting an amazing story, but it has a nonsense story, they should take note from "Injustice" next time. Also some buffs ans nerfs from MVC3 to Ultimate are great but some others were just fan service that end up with almost useless characters that were good in MVC3 (like Phoenix, some nerfs were OK, she was overpowered, but they really smashed her for the Ultimate version) I enjoy playing this game a lot, it's fun, but not well balanced and it's annoying how they keep this money grab with all their games.

If you own previous –non-Ultimate- versions of this punch-and-kick game there is no reason to buy this one. Otherwise, you should try it – it is still a great fight with crazy visuals and endless multiplayer fun. [Jan 2012]

More, more, more. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has more of everything from the original: more characters and costumes, more stages, more modes available already on the disc, simply more fighting possibilities than ever starring some of the most popular Marvel and Capcom characters.

By all accounts, the game itself is fantastic and much deserved of the score we gave MvC3 but there just isn't enough in UMvC3 to really set it apart as a title in its own right.
