  1. Am I glad to see this Dreamcast title on XBLA? Yes. It is just too bad a little more work didn't go into the porting process.

Rather than begging the question of whether or not the Dreamcast title is still relevant, this port clearly indicates that it isn't.

It's almost not Sonic's fault -- 3D games just don't age well -- but this lazy port makes the Blue Blur look slower than ever.

Sonic Adventure did not age well at all. The camera is frustrating and the voice overs are very weak. People who are looking for nostalgia could buy this game but even they should wait for Sonic Colors to come out.
  5. Sonic Adventure isn't worth 800 points, and it absolutely isn't worth 1200 to get the additional content. For 1200 points, you can instead get the entire original Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy, and trust me when I tell you, it's a much better use of your money.
  6. Only the most ardent Sonic fans need apply. For the rest of us, some good gaming memories should just remain that: memories.

Even as a curiosity, I would advise you give Sonic Adventure a wide berth.
  8. There's almost nothing to like about Sonic Adventure. It's clunky and awkward at best, painfully buggy and broken at worst. Its most unforgivable sin, though, is that it's just not fun.
  9. Although It carries a great deal of nostalgia, especially for the Dreamcast, Sonic Adventure has a hard time adjusting to life on PSN and XBLA.
  10. In short, I would not recommend Sonic Adventure to any of my friends, acquaintances, co-workers, enemies or anyone else.

A slapdash title like this shouldn't take anyone's time or money.

The game is not going to blow you out of your chair but it is full of nostalgic awesomeness. Can't believe these comments about the game not ageing well. It's more than ten years old for gods sake. Quite annoyed that you need to spend another 120 ms points to get the DX version. Bad move SEGA. Full Review »

But, after finaly jumping on the Dreamcast machine, i also bought Sonic adventure. And to be honest, i still think this is the best 3D sonic game to date. Even the last one, where he turns into a wherewolf failed me, just because of that wherewolf part, and those parts took the longest time.

So back to Sonic adventure. Ive got the DX update as well, and i must sai that for me, i allready knew the tough spots of this game, and so it did not take long before i finished the game with Sonic. There where times i thought they should have finetuned the gameplay, but still, to me, they kept true to the dreamcast/gamecube/pc Sonic adventure. For me, it still feels like the same game. So here's some pro, and con's to help out getting this game or not.

    Pro's:

+ Sonic finest adventure is back and hasn't changed for the worce (it could have been terribly emulated, but it's not.)
+ the high(er) resolutions make some sonic levels really shine with less jaggies.
+ If you are like me, and are used to the old voice casting, they did not changed that. Some find this anoying, but i kind of like the humorous voice acting :-D
+ If you don't get the DX extension, it's just 800 MS points. So for a trip down memory lane, it's not even that expensive.

    Con's:

    - Some collours feels altered, i will soon play this game on my dreamcast to see if i'm right about this one.
    - why can't we have a option to make this game widescreen? as if there are not enough widescreen tv's around to make this worth their trouble....
    - DX update should have been given for the 800 MS points you pay for the normal game.
    - If you hated this game on the Dreamcast, there's nothing that makes you change your mind now.

Sonic Adventure was an amazing game back in 1999 and is still today. Yeah the camera sucks but it sucked back then too but if you can lookSonic Adventure was an amazing game back in 1999 and is still today. Yeah the camera sucks but it sucked back then too but if you can look past that you can get a great game. The graphic look awesome and some people are angry that you can not put it in 16:9 well it not mean't to be in 16:9 its mean't to be 14:6 so it just look stretched if you did that. The controls are great it always goes in the direction you want. The homing attack can get a little weird at times but not to much. Now how does it sound, well it sounds great and all the music and sound effects form Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast are there and they sound great. Now how is this compare to the Dreamcast game. Well I will say right now the Dreamcast version is better less glitches in the Dreamcast version then the Xbox live version in the Xbox live game i have found a lest 6 glitches but its still not as bad as sonic 06. What I would say is it was made for the Dreamcast so it controller better on the Dreamcast so if you have that version and your not the biggest sonic fan then I say stick with the Dreamcast version. Now I want to talk about the story. Its still a great story and if you never play the game before then the story will have you at the edge of your chair well playing this game . Well what I am trying to say is that the story is great like always. I also want to say one more thing about the Xbox live version to the Dreamcast version. Even though I said the Dreamcast version is better that is only for gameplay. In the cutscene in the Dreamcast version there can be things left out like music or animation but there is none of that in the Xbox live version all the music is there and all the animation is there too. So if you want the cutscene the way there mean't to be seen then you should get the Xbox live version or PSN version. Now the most important part the Gameplay, the gameplay is fast and fast well at lest with Sonic and tails and it is great the level are just done so well and I can say the gameplay is more fun then some of the sonic games we get today. With Knuckles you well be collecting parts of the master emerald 3 each level and they are hidden well and it is allot of fun to find. Amy's levels are more of a normal platformer and she plays great and the level are just amazing. Then there is Gama who shots objects in the level and in those levels you are mean't to more get a highscore its almost like an arcade game and it plays really well. Then you have big and he sucks because your fishing in a sonic game what were they thinking when making him oh well at lest he like 3 or 4 levels or something so your done with him quickly but yeah his gameplay sucks. So what I am trying to say is this game is great and if you don't own it you should pick it up for Xbox live or PSN (although I have only play the Xbox live version but I bet they are the same.) Also if you want to play though this game again then here is your chances to play a great game. Awesome game 9/10 :D Full Review »
